You have to finish the entire thing. Sometimes med-kits heal you fully and leave a slight amount left

Have you been able to finish the challenge tho?

8/10 when I'm playing survivor I see a certain character cough cough using urban evasion across the map.

Ill admit she was my first main. Back when the game was new to me urban evasion was great because i was still legitimately terrified of the killer lol

I miss the days when this was still a horror game to me 😅

  • You should block out the names but yeah i always try and be a good sport to the killer too.

I think i played against that same killer only they were playing survivor and i was killer. Theyre pretty good from what i can remember, i think they were in a swf

  • Playing killer sucks.

If you cant beat em join em tho

Try playing more survivor. Its more fun.

  • Her perks are nothing special. You wont see anyone using them in the lower ranks except for maybe balanced landing but she has some of the best cosmetics imo

If i were to start from scratch all over again id grind laurie, david, and jake first. Then id start grinding the other survivors.

Edit: and id add bill to the list of survivors to grind first

  • Me: Omg that looks awful ...4 ds, 4 dh, 2 bt, 1 unbreakable...

Also me: *Goes back to playing survivor using ds, bt, and dh

No, he's a 115ms killer. It's probably just his animation making you feel slower than you are, kind of like how his basic attack looks way shorter than it is

    @NomiNomad said:

No, Ghostie moves 115%. He probably feels so slow because he has nothing to boost his movement speed, or slow survivors down. It's 115% or less.

Okay, it probably is the animation. I thought since hes one of the shorter killers maybe he is slower because hes got tiny legs like hag.

  • Try a meme build and have some fun.

Trapper is tons of fun to meme with!

My favorite is to gather all his traps and place them all in one area, the killer shack is great for this, and then by the time youre done almost all the gens should be done. Then lure the survivors into the traps. Before you know it youll be stepping in traps, theyll be stepping in traps and an endless cycle of shenanigans ensues.

They dont always play into it but when they do its absolutely hilarious 😂

  • @DemonDaddy It sounds like youre talking about the difference between playing killer vs playing survivor.

Im talking about casual in the sense that the toxicity is dialed down on both sides.

If you read this study done that uses dbd as a case study for toxicity in gaming communities you can see that one of the substantial sources of toxicity is the lack of communications between players. This causes each player to experience the game as a solo experience and makes it difficult to empathize with other players experience. This can even extend to swf groups since even though they can communicate with one another they typically dont communicate with the killer and so they tend to see their collective group experience as taking precedent over the other player, the killer.

    The link to the study:

Toxicity is a relatively new concept when it comes to describing behaviour and communication practices. It is now widely accepted as a denominator for aggressive and abusive interactions or relationships, both online and offline. However, toxic behaviour in videogames remains an elusive topic.

Essentially by adding communication and forcing players to identify less with their own preferred role and more with the entire group (ie killer and survivors chosen from random) you could considerably decrease the occurance of toxic behavior ie a more casual or laid back experience of the game.

If this were implemented then the regular way of playing the game would likely be seen as the more competitive version.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

While that would be preferable in a competitive sense, devs already stated they won't split the player base. Comms aside, the game already feels heavily balanced for casual which is why swf stands out so strongly.

    Heavily balanced for casual???

I think we have a different definition of what casual means.

I haven’t unlocked the Clown but when I do I’ll already own the Mr. Puddles costume from completing that rift.

I haven’t unlocked them because there are still killers I’ve unlocked like Legion and Oni that I haven’t even gotten around to trying yet. Also, I’m kind of waiting to see what the next chapter is first.

That's awesome! I used to play on xbox and had part of the mr. puddles costume so I'm glad there's a way to still get it after starting over again even if it does require an ungodly amount of shards.

  • @Patrick1088 said:

If you're looking for something fun, go with Plague. I like her ability, and her playstyle is unique.

I wouldn't go for Hag just for Ruin and DH. With undying nerf, Ruin was hurt and DH is more popular now. I just used the lunar log in just to level up Hag to 40. But I don't have much intention on using her otherwise. So its kind of a waste if you don't want to play her.

I'm biased, but I love Doctor. I prestiged him and he's fun to use. I watch people try to pallet camp and they get surprised lol I'm running Corrupt Intervention, Whispers, PGTW and BBQ (mainly for BP, but otherwise I like Oppression).

But, with a new killer possibly being teased this week, I would say possibly wait and use it on them. It would be a shame to use the shards on Hag and then see a killer that you really really want lol

That's a good point. I tried hag when I had her on my xbox before switching to pc and I never really played her. Unlocking her for some meta perks does seem pointless. I might not win consistently with plague but she's fun to play. I appreciate everyone reminding me of the new chapter around the corner! I think I'll hold onto my shards until the next chapter reveal and then decide between her or the new killer

  • @boostedsurvivormain said:

I would recommend Plague. She's a pretty good killer, and her perks are great.

She is, and you don't see her often enough as survivor imo

I would unlock Oni because I play killer more. And for me playing Oni was fun for a long time.

Oni is one of those killers I know is really powerful in the right hands, but I can't steer his rage run or time his one hit at all. I used to have him on xbox but switched to pc. Maybe it would be easier with a mouse..

    Ditto Cheryl and Ash.

A while ago I asked a similar question when I reached 9,000 shards whether I should get Slinger or Clown. Well, I’m at 19,000 now and still haven’t gotten either. Lol

OMG you're so close to being able to unlock the Mr. Puddles outfit for clown! You should buy clown and then unlock the outfit with shards. Clown is my second in command so I may be a little biased.

I almost *lost* interest because of the grind, lol.

I actually quit 2-3 years ago, right after I bought the game, because of the grind. I tried it again a couple of years later and had enough fun that I stuck with it, but almost decided to drop it again. If it weren't for the Bloodpoint events, BBQ and Ghastly Gateau's, I probably would have; and I can't imagine Im the only one.

If there's going to be any kind of grind, it should be a cosmetic grind. Gameplay elements can be earned(even though, I personally think that's stupid, in general), but they should be quickly earned. That way you can enjoy screwing around with different builds and Killers/Survivors(and actually have the capability of being competitive), while grinding for stuff like cosmetics or rank. That would potentially even boost sales, because players could use everyone, thus they'd be willing to buy cosmetics for everyone. Plus, it'd make the game more accessible for new players.

Idk, man. It seems so obvious, but yet, here we are.

I also watch a lot of streamers/youtubers on this game and every time they showcase some build for either killer or survivor its always like "neato but im not buying a character and grinding it plus grinding two others just to hopefully have fun with this build" lol

  • Same thing happened to me a couple times 🥺 Other people have also posted about it.

Its a new bug i guess

...Most YouTubers do 50 wins in a row with No perks. Saw Yesterday someone with fastkicking wraith who got 2 times a 4k.

You cant compare most of the playerbase to people who literally play this game as a 9-5. When otz gets 50 wins in a row its an impressive achievement because that takes an obscene level of commitment. Otz literally beat dark souls or whatever that crazy difficult game is without ever getting hit. Hes not a person hes a machine.

Not to say they dont have great commentary on aspects of the game but no way can you watch someone like that and say killer is easy.

  • Noed only punishes new survivors and survivors who gen rush for a quick match.

Most new survivors have no idea that if noed goes off at the end of the trial then they need to find the lit totem asap, most of them just run around near the downed person freaking out about what to do while someone else crouches in the gates trying to decide if they should also run around the downed person aimlessly or just leave.

Its painful to watch as a solo survivor.

In fact im almost certain it really only works against full solo lobbies in yellow ranks.

But use it on a team where each survivor has more than 20 hours in the game and that lit totem will be found and neutralized within 2 minutes. Its ridiculous how fast it gets taken care of by decent teams. So ridiculous you realize quickly that its a wasted perk slot as killer.

  • @MrSmashem said:

    "The grind isn't that bad."

Congrats, but dude; the progression in this game is absolutely busted. It shouldn't take nearly a year of non-stop play to fully access the game I spent $40 dollars on(not including DLC). This game puts F2P games to shame. Its disgusting.

I've probably put close to 1000 hours in and imo, I should easily have every perk on every Killer/Survivor by now, by virtue of them being a literal functional aspect of the game. Cosmetic grind, sure...do what you want, but perks, thats gonna be a big no from me dawg.

Side note, I know you said challenges and achievements were a part of this, but even 6739, heck 5739 hours is far too much to require for full functionality of gameplay mechanics.

    Its intentionally designed that way.

Id guess that the devs are afraid people will lose interest quickly if the game didnt have as much if a grind.

To some degree that might be true, if you take away the grind youre not really left with that much gameplay variation but it would still be fun being able to experiment with different perk combos without having to grind 1000s of hours to try them.

By the time ive unlocked all the teachables, which takes somewhere around 500+ hours if youre being as efficient as possible, i have almost zero motivation to go through like 100 or more bloodwebs per character to unlock all the perks for every character.

Youve totally got a point. Like why are we paying for characters and new teachables and still have to grind so many hours to use them?

Other games have way more gameplay variation and take i tiny fraction of the time to complete, yet this game takes the least amount of gameplay and stretches it across 10k hours. Its ludicrous.

The problem isn't my skill it's that the new update sent me to rank purgatory. I was rank 8 at rank reset. Then I went to rank 17 after reset. The system still tries to match you with similar ranks tho (albeit horribly most times) and so I end up in lobbies with total potatoes. I'll run a killer for like 3-5 minutes or more and one gen will be done! I used to get put in lobbies with competent teammates who could finish 2-3 gens in 5 minutes. I can't pip either because the emblem system is bugged so I'm just stuck with these potatoes and broken hitboxes on top of it.😭😭😭

    Exactly this.

why do you assume this is something exclusive for survivors? I have seen way more toxic killers in my soloQ games / endgame chats than survivors even though there are 3 survs for every killer.

I don't doubt your experience but that's pretty rare from my experience. In my experience it's almost always the survivors using the chat to trash talk. I've been playing this game for almost 2 years and can only recall one time where a killer tried trash talking me and it just came off as very weak sauce. Like dont get me wrong that killer annihilated me and my team but like still ... it was like "ez bb survivor" and I was like "lolz ok ggwp i like your build" which doesn't even compare to some of the filth I've seen survivors spew.

There's no problem with DH I've never lost a game because someone used DH. I just can't believe how many people are salty about DH. Especially with the desync issues where I can literally hit a survivor around a corner. Learn how to chase, learn how to force a survivor out of position, and just get better at the game.

I'm saying it now if you have a problem with DH as a killer then you just aren't good at killer and you should probably spend less time complaining and more time working on improving. In my eyes killers who complain about DH are the equivalent of a salty face camper that loses every game. Get Good.

    I agree with you 90%

The one instance where I felt like DH needed a nerf I was in a match where I kid you not every survivor I started a chase with ran an infinite loop and then just as I thought I was about to get them to drop the pallet they would DH and reset the loop. This happened EVERY chase. Literally it was 1. Find survivor 2. Initiate chase 3. Survivor enters god loop 4. Almost get them to drop pallet 5. Survivor uses DH and resets loop 6. A gen is completed 7. Break chase so as not to waste more time and go find a different survivor 8. repeat. Tbagging and post game chat harassment from survivors ensues. But that's more of an issue with the poor map design than anything else.

  • 100% agree with everything you said.

IMO keys shouldn't be able to spawn in chests at all. It makes zero sense.

The grind is awful in this game.

I've also spawned as survivor and am immediately looking straight at a hex totem. Poof, ruin is gone lol Whereas when I'm hunting for dull totems because I'm trying to get a head start on deactivating a potential NOED situation I'll find dull totems in the most obscure places that it's a pain finding them even with small game or a rainbow map.

The only workaround for the grind is to always go straight for whatever perk is offered in the bloodweb and to grind points as quickly and efficiently as possible. Use BBQ and point offerings every match and you'll average 50-90k points a match or use WGLF and point offerings and average 35-60k points a match. IDK even care about unlocking all perks for a character or prestiging as the reward is so miniscule and inconsequential for the effort involved. On killer if you have BBQ, PGTW, nurses, on most characters that's literally all you'll find yourself consistently using. Almost all of my killer builds are BBQ, PGTW, and some other character specific 2 perks that they're dependent on to be competitive (Stridor, predator for spirit or STBFL for freddy etc) As survivor if you have one character with DS, Unbreakable, adrenaline, and BT then you've pretty much hit the ceiling and only reason for unlocking or levelling new characters is to create the same build for them so you can have some visual variation as to who you're playing as. Experimenting with different builds usually ends in tears and frustration on both sides.

With that said once you unlock the teachable perks for every character it does leave you with this weird sense of completion, like I'm far less compelled to play the game and put up with this piece of garbage. I'll still maybe log a few hours a week, but no way do I feel compelled to listen to some 14 year old tell me to kill myself for a measly 50k bloodpoints.

I am not new to the game, and I know how to play Bubba. I'm not saying I have any issues with how his chainsaw ability works. I even said I clearly don't care if killers want to camp. Everything is supposed to have a counter-play, whether it's with a strategy or a perk. There are perks to counter hook-campers, but there's an issue when a killer (or survivor) just totally eliminates perks or abilities. For example, they just did a rework of the perk Slippery Meat because it unfairly applied to Trapper's abilities.

Perks like DS exist to counter tunneling, and perks like Borrowed Time exist to counter hook camping. Bubba's ability simply ignores those perks. That is the issue I have. The strategy cannot simply be to never get caught, since chases inherently favor killers, unless you're someone like the Nurse, because she's slower than survivors. Killers like bubba are default 15% faster, and gain more speed as a chase progresses. It's not an issue of not knowing how to avoid his chainsaw ability. It's an issue of, if he presses you, he will catch you, because, unless he's totally garbage, the game will grant the killer the favor to end the chase.

I don't hate Bubba; I just think it's ridiculous that he has an unfair advantage over both survivors and other killers. I can see where you'd think that "having a power that isn't controlled by survivors" would make me hate him, because it seems like your perspective is that it's cool that killers control survivor perks, but not the other way around.

He doesn't have control over any survivor perks. Like at all. If he manages to get more than one hit on you while BT is active then you need to work on your chase skills. Chases absolutely do not favor killers lol How many rainbow or all red lobbies have you played against???

I used to struggle with chases too, and I still do on maybe 40% of maps and I used to think that chases favored killers too until I played killer into purple ranks and got demolished by red rank lobbies pretty consistently for a while. Which isn't to say that all red rank survivors are amazing, I think there's plenty who got there just from playing a lot or getting a lot of hatch escapes consistently from friends in swf helping them out or there's plenty who've been in red ranks so long they just opt to meme around half the time.

But it does sound like you're struggling with chases more than any particular killer. You could literally solve your BT Bubba dilemma simply by going for a vault/pallet or small tile to loop tight corners around immediately after being unhooked. If I'm not mistaken you get a speed boost after he hits you while BT is active, even if it's with his chainsaw so idk how you're managing to still get caught??? I used to play a lot of bubba and I think this scenario happened maybe once and it was because the survivor was cocky due to the BT and tried running around the hook rather than go for a vault or something, because they thought they could make a save right away due to the fact the survivor who rescued them with BT forced a hook trade immediately, and no I wasn't camping survivors are just dumb and try to unhook within the first 3 seconds of someone getting hooked.

I can empathize with you on the level that it does suck when you get stomped for what feels like a dumb reason that seems unfair or frustrating but it really sounds like you haven't put nearly enough time into playing killer to understand playing survivor more.

Slugging sucks too but if you played enough killer you'd understand why a lot more killers do it. It's simply not enough to have one or even two people on hook. The killer is outnumbered and has to take survivors out of playing the game or progressing towards objectives in order to stand a chance. In most matches if all survivors have at least two brain cells the first 2-3 gens can be done in the first 3 minutes. If the killer wants to win they have to resort to some scummy tactics. Most killers would probably be more chill but they get tilted to playing aggressively because even if they play by the survivor rulebook to appease the other players they're still going to get some messed up harassment in the post game chat or via the console messenger. Do you have any idea what it's like to play nice and clean, and I mean not hitting/hooking anyone within the first 2 minutes of the match, no camping, no tunneling, no slugging, no BM (hitting on hook, shaking head), letting the last survivor have hatch and still getting some message afterwards to go ######### or "we just *** your face*" or something messed up?

I'm amazed anyone is playing killer. I only play killer for daily challenges now or rift challenges and that's only if it's a challenge for a strong killer I know I won't be humiliated with. Which is the reason why when I play survivor now I give zero **** about how the killer decides to play. More than anything I find myself getting tilted over potato teammates in solo queue. With all of that said playing survivor should take skill otherwise what's the point? The killers skill shouldn't matter as much in that equation because they're THE KILLER, they're meant to be oppressive and supernaturally powerful otherwise you literally have no skill necessary to prove yourself against at which point you should just play against AI.

I swear to god survivors whine constantly. There was literally a thread here months ago from some survivor main with <100 posts saying killers should have a slowdown after landing from a long fall. Srsly.

    I 33% agree with you.

Green keys should not spawn in chests at all. Or be in the game at all for that matter.

Purple and Pink keys are fine.

I think you mean the other way around???

Purple and pink give you a free hatch escape and green is only useful with addons to it. I dont think any of them should spawn in chests. What's the point of getting a literally useless item unless you have addons to go with it (I guess you could use Ace's perk and hope it comes with an addon??)

Just because the counter is there doesnt mean people will actually look for/cleanse the totems. Thats like expecting your teammates to do gens and not unhook you in front of the killer without borrowed time.

Small game is fine and so is the terror radius neither is supposed to give you exact information.

As for the rainbow map it wouldnt show you the aura of a totem right in front of you because you only see auras if your view of the object is obstructed, this is how all aura reading perks and items function, its not a bug.

That's lame reasoning for not including a dull totem counter tbh

And the map is bugged. Why wasn't it showing me the totem right around the corner and instead only showed me the one in the middle or far quadrant of the map?

The Trapper right!! He should start with all of his traps, it’s so silly having to gather traps for half the game. The POV lawnmower Piggy was hilarious! I lol’d.

I'm glad someone found that amusing! I scroll the dbd reddit and am amazed no one has made this a meme yet.

I'm hoping they give trapper a rework à la clown and address the traps someday, it would require them to remove/rework some of his addons but just that change alone would be all he needs. You'd think they'd show more love for the character that graces the cover of all of their marketing materials and won them an award for best new character in a video game.

  • While playing as killer dead hard is the least of my worries.

While playing as survivor using dead hard is the source of all my worries.

  • I don't main her but I play her often. I'll be honest most matches with her I never use her power and still do pretty well somehow. I think her phase ability psyches out survivors the second they know who they're up against and so they just stop playing calmly and rationally making for easy wins.

    1. Freddy - Most powerful killer in the game, which is why everyone hates him
    2. Bubba - Second most powerful killer in the game, especially after his rework. I'm a freakin surgeon with that chainsaw. Nothin is more fun than mindgaming survivors in loops/junglegyms while sweeping with the chainsaw
    3. Myers - His addons are the most powerful in the game and he's one of the only killers I can regularly 3-4k with using all of his teachable perks
    4. Clown - IDK what it is about him but I can just end chases so quickly with him and I've mastered tossing his potions. I played him a lot before the recent update and his rework is perfect! The changes to his addons. reload time, and the new potions are AMAZING!
    5. Pyramid Head - I just like how smoothly and quickly he seems to walk when I play him, it feels like I'm a freakin shark. His power is also super powerful and I love getting the free hits on jungle gyms etc I also love getting sneaky hits with punishment of the damned like hitting people from behind walls etc

Piggy was a top contender for a spot but her rush attack is only useful on the first hit in the game and barely sees any action afterwards and once her traps run out she's basically an M1 killer unless you want to experience the POV of a lawnmower the rest of the game in exchange for stealth and a painfully delayed rush attack.

Trapper would make it to my top five if they ever reworked him and made it so he starts the game with all of his traps as base kit.

GF would be cooler if his stalk could peek from under/around more objects.

  • I've said this before but keys shouldn't even spawn in chests at all. That would be like if killers could randomly gain the ability to insta-kill survivors like a michael myers tombstone tier 3 by searching random lockers.

    It makes zero sense.

  • Bubba's like the best killer in the game. He's the only killer with an effective power that isn't controlled by the survivors. Of course you hate him.

Learn to circle tight corners on small tiles and you've pretty much got a solid counter to him, but most survivors just see him coming and run around willy nilly.

And if someone facecamps you just die and move on to the next game. Being camped is frustrating, sure, but it's not stressful in any way. Not anywhere near as stressful and infuriating as playing your best and giving everyone a clean fair match only to be messaged in post game that your trash or that they just *** your face. Oddly enough when I win a 4k as killer I never have the urge to trash talk anyone. It's not even really that satisfying because I feel bad most times afterward, I really only try for the points.

You should play bubba and then you'll start to understand how to counter him.

  • I hate playing against ghostface and deathslinger

    Who I hate playing as

Deathslinger: He's soooooo slow and I can't aim. He sounds so fun to me on paper but the reality is sad

Blight: I wasted 9k shards on him ... his power is so ... interesting ... at least he could be fun to meme with 💁‍♀️

    Wraith: boring

Hag: too tiny, I can't deal with being that low to the ground but for some weird reason it doesn't bother me to play as Victor.

  • Same problem here. It's bugged

  • It is way too dark.

When I play killer on some of the maps now I literally cannot see survivor movement. Survivors know this and actually hide in what would otherwise be plain sight on some maps. I know because I see other survivors do this when I play survivor.

They're so dark I literally got trapped in the basement while playing killer because I couldn't tell where the stairs leading out were. I had to keep moving my camera around until I could spot the tiny pinprick of light emanating from the stairs. The person on the hook probably thought I was camping at first and then after a while of watching me walking into a wall probably thought I was brand new to video games lol

Couple things here I'll start with this post and move backwards.

First off dull totem counter, sure why not wont really do anything anyways.

Small game isnt bugged thats the way its supposed to work tells you the totem is front of you, not an issue.

Rainbow maps only show things you have walked close enough to, they arent programmed to show you every totem in a random order.

This idea doesnt really work, unless when i hit/hook someone i get notified that they are running adrenaline/hope so i know to tunnel them out before endgame.

Ok this is gonna sound radical but heres a way to incentivise doing totems that lots of people wiill disagree with, first we increase gen time by 100% so 160 seconds per gen, then for each totem that gets cleansed gen times are reduced by 20 seconds,so cleanse 4 totems gen times are back to normal cleanse all 5 get time reduced to 60 seconds. This does 2 things incentivises totems and fixes the issue of rough early games for low mobility killers, hows that sound.

Or they can fix the bugs in the game ...

Also the rainbow map is bugged, it sounds like you didnt actually read what I said. I know because I've used rainbow maps to try and locate dull totems before and it will highlight one in the quadrant of the map next to mine and then ill walk right in front of a dull totem in the quadrant of the map I'm in and it won't be highlighted. There's a bug in the code for it and it only shows dull totems in a certain order.

Small game should take into account the floor your on in the same way that the TR should. It's either a case of lazy programming or lazy game design, take your pick.

A dull totem counter would take care of a lot of things. IDK how many times I've cleansed 3 or 4 totems and then died once the last gen was done and then spectated and watched the team get taken down by noed and if they knew that there were only 1-2 totems left then they'd be more likely to make the smart play which is to hunt for the hex totem knowing there's only 1-2 to find before trying to unhook anyone then noed would be a lot more balanced around solo players.

  • The problem is that it punishes solo survivors who cant communicate to their team how many totems have been cleansed so in solo its a pure crapshoot knowing if you got them all unless you do them all yourself and then you have one person running around the map looking for dull totems in the off chance the killer has perk while their teammates drop like flies and barely get any gens done.

Swf groups dont struggle with noed, in most instances its a huge mistake to bring it against swf groups because the hex totem literally gets cleansed within 2 minutes of it activating, which is why i dont bother to bring it. Yet somehow when i play survivor it gets the best of my team and i have to sacrifice one or more teammates during egc because god only knows where the hex totem is. This is because i play mostly solo survivor.

People would probably stop complaining about it under two conditions:

They add a dull totem counter in the HUD so everyone knows how many are left

And they fix the bugs in small game. On maps with more than one level and also in buildings with more than one level small game will give you a notification that theres a totem somewhere in front of you BUT with no regard to which floor. So on maps like the game or lerys or any with two story buildings you can end up wasting so much extra time looking for dull totems because it might be ticked away somewhere on the samenfloor as you or on a different floor! Like ######### fix this broken perk! I know because im usually the solo survivor who ACTUALLY brought small game to hunt fir dull totems and try to cleanse them all myself and its usually a massive waste of time

On second thought make that 3 conditions, because i forgot that rainbow maps ARE ALSO BUGGED! They only show dull totems to you in a certain order and if youre too far away from the totem the rainbow maps code is telling it is the next dull totem to reveal it wont show you the one thats closer to you and also wont show you the one its programmed to which wastes the charges on it AND wastes your time! Fun!
