It would make since for GHOSTFACE and Myers. All they can do is swing a knife, they would benefit greatly from this. And I do not believe that it would make them too powerful.

Fun should be the priority.

Yeah, I was trying to only include rather inexpensive options. Five guys is awesome, but not cheap.

Of the three of these I've had, BK is my favourite because I'm a country girl and I like my meat charred by someone that doesn't know how to cook and shouldn't be using the BBQ. Or at least pretending it's charred by someone that doesn't know how to use a BBQ.
LOL, nice.

I mean, to me, this indicates there is a problem with how survivors are currently equipped. Makes you think survivors need some changes to not be able to be as toxic.
That's how I feel. The vast majority of toxicity in DBD comes from Survivors IMO.

There's no point unhooking if the killer has 4 tokens. I'm going to look for that totem even if it kills the hooked survivor, which sucks but that's just Devour Hope for you. If they get unhooked, someone's dead immediately and one person that could have been doing totems was wasting time.
It's cruel, but true.

===============PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE CASTING YOUR VOTE===============
The Shape as you may or may not know was released a little over three years ago (October 25, 2016). Since then, we have received new DLC characters, perks, and environments that have changed the base game. Below are some ideas that I believe would enhance gameplay of The Shape in Dead by Daylight and provide classic, horror scenarios akin to the Halloween franchise. OF COURSE, NOT ALL THESE IDEAS HAVE TO BE ADDED. You may like some and dislike others, and that is OKAY! :)
I would like to know which ideas you all like and/or dislike. Maybe you might like all of them... or none... Please leave me some feedback, hopefully the Developers will see this and make some much needed changes.
Evil Within update: Similar to The Oni's ability meter "Yamaoka's Wrath", The Shape's "Evil Within" meter should fill completely when stalking. The main reason for this is to prevent server latency feedback for players trying to fill the meter as close to 99% as possible, only to have the meter regress unexpectedly. While the meter is full survivors that are being stalked are not drained of Evil Within and therefore add-ons like "Reflective Fragment", "Glass Fragment", and "Mirror Shard" can still be used without having to worry about draining unwanted Evil Within from survivors. The Shape can advance to the next tier of Evil Within by pressing the Secondary Action button. To compensate for this, survivors will also receive an audio warning when The Shape can proceed to the next tier of Evil Within (when meter is full the following sound will play:)
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMlTAZVkyyU
Sound at [0:21] timestamp.
*The short Halloween theme will play like normal when The Shape progresses to the next tier of Evil Within.
I know what you're probably thinking, "but that would make it harder to be stealthy". Another easy fix, below are some add-on changes that would adjust the previously mentioned rework.
Jewelry: A large necklace made of beads and inexpensive metals. One of Judith's favorites.
- Moderately increases Stalking Movement speed.
- Prevents audio warning to survivors when the Evil Within meter fills completely. (Normal Halloween theme plays when The Shape actually progresses to the next tier of Evil Within).
Jewelry Box: A barren wooden box in which vanity items were once stored.
- Considerably increases Stalking Movement speed.
- Prevents audio warning to survivors when the Evil Within meter fills completely. (Normal Halloween theme plays when The Shape actually progresses to the next tier of Evil Within).
Another issue on some maps, mainly the Coldwind Farms realm, is that environmental objects heavily obscure stalking (such as cornstalks and other vegetation) giving survivors a major advantage. Below are some add-on reworks that would compensate for this.
Reflective Fragment: A tiny piece of a highly reflective material most probably from a broken mirror.
- Stalking a survivor for 1 second with Evil Within II reveals their Aura for 2 seconds.
- Survivors revealed this way can be stalked to fill the Evil Within meter while within 16m for the duration that their Aura is revealed.
Glass Fragment: A tiny piece of tinted glass, probably from a broken object. It is impossible to determine its origin.
- Stalking a survivor for 1 second with Evil Within I reveals their Aura for 3 seconds.
- Survivors revealed this way can be stalked to fill the Evil Within meter while within 16m for the duration that their Aura is revealed.
Mirror Shard: A large and sharp piece of a broken mirror.
- Stalking a survivor for 1 second with Evil Within II reveals their Aura for 5 seconds.
- Survivors revealed this way can be stalked to fill the Evil Within meter while within 16m for the duration that their Aura is revealed.
Lastly, there is an issue with the "Tombstone Piece" and "Judith's Tombstone" add-ons that allow The Shape to kill a survivor after stalking for an extended amount of time. These add-ons can easily be negated by a survivor by simply jumping into a locker which is unfair to The Shape. I would personally like to see these add-ons allow The Shape to open the locker and perform a unique mori with a "Sting" sound effect from the Halloween franchise.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKMZ5RhrZTw
Sound at [0:08] timestamp.
However, an alternative idea would be to allow The Shape to grab someone in the locker with one of these add-ons and cut them which in turn would progress them into the next phase against The Entity on hook.
Example: A survivor that hasn't been hooked yet hides in a locker, The Shape at Tier III (with either tombstone add-on) grabs the survivor in the locker, performs a unique cutting animation on the survivor and the survivor has a chance to run away after. The survivor is put into the dying state later on in the trial and hooked, instead of being at phase one of the sacrifice process, the survivor would be in the struggle phase. Only if the survivor has reached the struggle phase and is caught in a locker while The Shape is at Tier III (with either tombstone add-on) would The Shape preform a unique out-of-locker mori.
Very well thought out. Especially the unique mori with the "sting" sound effect if they're in the locker to avoid the Insta-kill. Lol, that sounds awesome and true to the franchise.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately. I never really thought much about it before, but you are right in saying that the game was not designed for this specifically. I mean, now that I think of it, it actually is pretty unfair for the killer. But I am not sure how you would fix this. Would you completely nerf it or get rid of it? Or somehow give the killer something when against SWF groups to compensate? It is also a very hard thing to fix because most SWF groups love using voice chat to play with each other.
Honestly, the best solution to this I have heard so far is to enable proximity voice chat in the game. But it doesn't take a genius to say what is wrong with that. I believe the levels of toxicity in this game rival the salt from RUST, and that is saying something. But you know what? On the serious side, voice proximity chat would allow better solo queue coordination in general and since the killer would hear them, abrupt intervention by the killer would prevent them from communicating properly making stealth killers and stealth powerful because they could spy on survivors for information.
Voice proximity chat is definitely a very scary thing (for most people since a lot of children) because of the sheer toxicity that can come from it. I can already hear it now: "Toxic piece of poop camper" or "f-bombing duckhead". However, the only thing stopping proximity chat from being in-game I believe is the fear of toxicity. I myself could handle a 25-year-old man or woman cussing me out in-game (I mean they already do in other games lmao), but could a mentally unstable person or young child handle it? Probably not, and that is scary which is why it makes it hard to implement.
Yeah, proximity chat could be easily abused, but I think people that can't handle it/don't want it should be able to turn it off in settings. It's what made Friday the 13th SO MUCH fun for me.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt his bottom line. And then people wouldn't loathe him quite as much lol.

Freddy I mostly get annoyed how quickly you fall asleep. It feels like most of the time I wake up and get to a gen to be almost halfway asleep again anyways
Yeah. I love Freddy, but I think they could add 15 seconds to the Sleep timer.

I like streamers who are humble, informative, and knowledgeable as well, but being good at the game is really the bare minimum for me. It would take a really special person for me to want to watch them stream a game they're not good at.
I don't feel as strongly for people who stream single player games - so long as you're not an absolute potato it's fine if you're not the best either. For people streaming multiplayer games, though, you need to be a good player to hold my attention.
Okay, good answer, thank you.

No lol, you clearly haven't been on these forums for very long. If I edited them NOW (technically then, last message at 1:18) a bright red message saying I had edited them and then exactly at what time I last edited the post would appear right underneath.
You're not the sharpest tool in the shed are ya?
I edit things immediately after I post sometimes because there were things that I left out. The people who made the forums also recognize that frequently people make typos or what have you and there's no need to display for the rest of the forums that they edited their original post less than five minutes later to add in a few sentences or fix a typo or two.
The only thing cringe here is you fkn calling that out as "cringe" and expecting that to carry weight as an argument in the place of the lack of a point
LOFL, yes, thank you for that kid. This made my day🤣

People for some reason don't seem to understand that for a fundamentally drastic change like this, you more or less should have a resounding agreement amongst the community it should be done, somewhere in the near 70 or 80%. If nearly half or more of the community is vehemently opposed that's not a good thing
Yeah, but dude, half of the community is against SWF, KEYS and MORIS. Where half love those features. They could at least do a temporary test like they did with BLOODLUST.

If you're already asking people to go easy on you in the comments to begin with before even uploading the thread you should already have an idea of what your idea sounds like to begin with.
Well clearly my idea sounded good to more than half of the current voters. Considering the first option is no, and the other 3 are versions of yes. And no is only at 46% atm. So I'm glad I asked, more reasonable people than I expected.

Yeah, when I'm mic'd up with 3 other people, we hardy ever have a death against a face-camping LF. First Survivor downs tells the others to finish a few gens and then perform a coordinated rescue.

@The_Nightmare69 said:
So I've been thinking about a killer that is fun to play but not too OP and also challenging but fun to play against and this is what I came up with.
Killer: Xenomorph
Name: The Alien
Terror Radius: 32 meters
Movement speed 4,6 m/s or 115%
Hight: Large (bigger than the plague)
So what I had in mind is this big scary looking alien with green acid dripping from his teeth
So first let's talk about his animations because I had something special in mind. for a basic attack he would just swing his claws just like the Demogorgon does. For is lunge attack I thought it would be a cool idea to swing his big ass sharp tail because they often use this thing as a weapon in the movies.
For his mori I thought it would be something along the lines of him piercing a survivor with his tail lifting them up to his face and bite their throat out with their little inside mouth/biting tongue and then throwing them about 1 or 2 meters away.
So down to his abilities I don't play survivor a lot so please let me know if anything is unfair or just seems dumb from your perspective.
active ability: Crawl: The Alien transfers to a four-point-stand (moves on all fours) and gains the ability to crawl on walls and removes his red stain and reduces his terror radius to 28 meters but reduces the movement speed to 3.6 m/s or 90%. use the M1 (attack) button to charge your leap whilst on a wall and jump of it leaping a maximum of 10 meters when fully charged (1.5 seconds of charge time) and a minimum of 3 meters (0.65 seconds). whilst crawling you can crawl through windows and other vault locations but are unable to crawl over pellets, destroy pellets, damage generators, break doors or attack survivors. after a leap crawl will be automatically disabled and the killer will stand up straight again and will go into a 5 second cool-down, if crawl is cancelled (deactivated by the player) there will be no cool-down.
Ability: The Hive: The Alien digs a hole in the ground connected to his underground hive, The Alien can place up to 8 holes in the map all connected to the hive. The Alien can enter his hive through any of his holes. When in the Hive all exits are highlighted in white and you will start crawling and move at 16m/s or 400% speed when in the hive survivors directly above you will still be able to hear your terror radius but when you emerge from the have you are granted the undetectable status effect for 5 seconds. after emerging from your hive it has a 8 seconds cool-down
(to clarify, this would work similar to the demogorgon's portals but with the addition of being able to move freely in your hive and even hide in it for multiple purposes when you enter it, I am not sure how this would be done by the dev's like I said it is a work in progress)
Perks:
Pungent scent,
Your improved sense of smell grands you the ability to smell your prey's oder; whenever a survivor starts running you get notified and their aura becomes visible for 3/4/5 seconds. and slightly increases the time the red scratch marks stay visible
Pungent scent has a 20 second cooldown
Not of this world
Whenever you hit a survivor not of this world receives a token with a maximum of 8 tokens
1 token, you gan a 3/4/5 % increase in movement speed.
4 tokens, Survivors will bleed out 3/5/10 % faster.
8 tokens, all survivors suffer from the exposed status effect.
If a survivor is killed you lose all your tokens and not of this world goes into a 60/50/40 second cool-down
Hex: Hive mind
you become obsessed with the first survivor who completes a generator. You and the Obsession will be able to see each-other's auras throughout the trial.
The obsession suffers from a 10% decrease in repair and heal speed.
Rescuing the obsession will result in the rescuer becoming the obsession.
*the killer may only be obsessed with one survivor at a time.
Please let me know what you think.
Okay, cool concept, respect the effort you put into it. However, they move faster on all 4, not slower. And the tail should be a short range secondary attack. I hope they do this.
-
@TheShocktor said:
Survivors will probably disagree for obvious reasons but I think the red stain needs to be removed. It should be more of a guessing game when mindgaming certain tiles. I shouldn't have to walk backwards so the survivor doesn't know which direction I'm looking. I just don't understand why it's a thing. I know people will say get good, learn to moonwalk, etc... I know how to do it. It's just dumb imo. Good killers hide their stain so it wouldnt really change much as far as high level players go. I don't wanna fight over it, but kinda curious how other people feel. Feel free to disagree but don't be toxic to each other.
I agree, it's silly. I'm sure years ago when the game was a mess, it made since. I don't see it as a necessity.
-
When I do get DS'd, I verbally insult myself for letting it happen. It is strong and obnoxious, but it has a very simple and obvious counyerplay. At least after it happens once, just make sure 60 seconds passes before picking them up.
-
@Moxie said:
Ehhh. No. It's not overpowered. Annoying, maybe.
You need to stalk 3 survivors fully then a little bit of the 4th to get to T3. All while only having half a power (lower TR, slightly increased vault).
I can see it being annoying on small maps hearing the T3 TR all the time, but it's not OP. In fact, I actually like Michael's add-ons because they actually feel like you are really modifying your power.
I wish more add-ons were like The Shape's, albeit tuned to the individual Killer.
Yeah, I would go as far to say you should have at least 4 gens done by the time he hits tier 3. You definitely have to earn the tier 3.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/229027/whats-your-thought-about-noed
I want to talk about a specific situation where I hate NOED. You load into a match, you or a team mate are found by the killer. The killer commits to the survivor totally leaving gens and just focusing on said survivor. If I am the survivor who is being chased I want gens done as quickly as possible so that the time I have ran the killer means something. If my team mate is running the killer I want to do gens as soon as possible so they can maybe escape. Now you may say "Well just get the survivor off the hook and carry on" but if you have been in the situation as survivor most likely the killer now has a bee in their bonnet and wants that one survivor dead. So with the information I have and guessing the killer actions I am not going to go around the map looking for totems, I am going to do my best to get the objective done so that survivor can escape. Like I said, this is one specific situation but when NOED pops is utterly annoying. This is where I hate the perk because the killer will throw the match for one survivor and even though they made the bad choice I doing so they know they can use NOED as back up. Also I am going to assume you're asking "well just leave or find the totem" sometimes the survivor could be hooked by the lit totem and its over. I also wouldn't want to leave the survivor to die on hook just because they did well and got done over by a crap perk.
When I myself play killer I don't bring NOED because in my eyes if I didn't have control of the match before gens popped then that's on me. Sometimes gens get popped and that's ok. Either way people will use what perks they want however if you are a killer that uses the best perks (BBQ, NOED, POP, etc) then you should expect it from the other side too.
I agree with your last sentence. And as a Killer, I always expect the best perks to be used against me. There is nothing wrong with everyone bringing the best available Perks.
-
@CornHub said:
I'd rather be slugged than hooked, killers slugging me instead of hooking me has allowed me to escape more alot of times.

That would be awesome. He could teleport the Survivors to the nearest available hook when they're downed instead of picking them up.

I see it as a bit of both. More so the latter. It sucks if you haven't been hit the entire match and then get one shotted and hooked, but that's also how life is lol.
