In general, I find killer more fun to play. The thrill of the chase is there for survivor, don't get me wrong. But being the instrument of bloodshed is just a LOT of fun.
I have been playing both, and I personally find playing killer more irritating in that good survs seem to be able to destroy you with little you can do about it.
Surv is irritating because of teammates who obviously didn't take 10 minutes to learn the basics of the game before jumping into a match.
Both can be quite stressful to play, but I find the fun factor for killer so much better. As surv you are doing gens and trying to stay away from the killer. Not NEAR as fun -
I agree. I'm new and even I've only been hit by them 1 time. I can only imagine how bad they are at high killer ranksTheRealDweard said:Firecrackers are so useless they are very easy to avoid.

SC is fine, it's only a real pain when they run Thana and Sloppy really but thats' why medkits are so nice along with BK and Pharmacy. It's so boring to heal now, when the killers is running a sloppy every game. 40 seconds....Nah thanks. In this time I could make a half of gen. Which is also boring lol
-
On 1, they are in the right. The killer is not necessarily going to go to that gen. I keep tabs on my teams condition. If someone is injured, I know most likely the killer is busy and he's not gonna leave an injured surrv to check a gen.

I could say the same thing about NOED and survivors.Thaznar said:@e8Lattice said:
I don't actually use DS, I have far more useful perks for my survivors, DS is just a 'crutch' killers like to cry about, I mean really? just turn around and chase them again it's not that hard. (besides, chasing is fun!)Sure nerf DS but in exchange:
- Double the spacing between all hooks
- Half the amount of hooks there are already
Do that ^ and we have a deal.
It's all about compromise =D
Killers need to manage time well in order to even stand a chance - DS requires no skill and promotes lazy gameplay. It also consumes a lot of killer's time and does not reward him for doing well, but it rewards survivors for doing poorly - where is the logic in that may I ask?

Really weird if you think about it too, usually the victims play in 1st person for more horror
1st person perspective isn't necessary to create fear and horror. Even drop down perspective can create fear, best example is the game called DARKWOOD
Nope, completely disagree. SOME games do 3rd person horror right, prime example is SIlent Hill. But 1st person is, in general, more immersive and therefore more scary when it comes to making you actually feel like you are there. Top down is not scary at all, and breaks immersion in any horror game imo.

They won't do that, any game which is mtiplayer such as this allows friends to play together to make up the whole set, it doesn't make sense to limit a group of friends from playing together from a business standpoint. They have been actively trying to buff solo player up to the standard for over a year and it hasn't been working, the problem will always be nothing will ever close the gap for the advantage comms can give.
The devs seem reluctant to look at fixing the actual issue and are trying to change everything around it instead, the other problem is for those that don't play with comms in an swf (or those that claim not too) it's not an easy fix.
I mean there ARE games that limit the number of players that can play together. The recent game APEX comes to mind, where there are teams of 3.
It wouldn't be unheard of, and it is still letting friends play together. AND, if there are enough of them wanting to play, they can still KILL with friends too.

My suggestion doesn't have to use the unsportsmanlike report but just have a way to put the try harder with the try harder without making separate game modes that will make wait times longerA way to do this without reporting would be to keep track of a players average length of matches, and then grouping people with similar match length averages. the real "sweaty" guys would likely end up with much shorter matches on average
-
Holy crap, for the first time since I got the game, I decided to see what all the fuss was about, to see if it REALLY makes that much of a difference--so I lobby dodged until I knew I was with a group that wasn't a 4 stack (this one was a 2 stack).
Guess what? The game was actually a LOT more fun. It wasn't over in under 2 minutes, with a bunch of survs teabagging and being #########.
Not gonna make this a habit, but the difference between people that are solo/duo vs the people that are 3 and 4 stacked really shows how gamebreaking it is to be able to communicate efficiently over discord. Just wow.
I have an idea to please everyone without effecting queue times by making them separate. Limit SWF to duos. People can rotate out if they want to play with their friends. This would keep some of the balance, as there are still 2 survs left out of the loop, so to speak, playing the game as intended, without voice chat
I am really surprised at just how much SWF really does imbalance the game

-
I think the survs NEED another objective. I have been playing both killer and survival, and there's literally nothing one can do when the team just hits all objectives. Even if you get the first guy down fast (which you often won't in these cases, it seems).
I was more thinking survs need a part to fix the gens myself.

How about we fix the disease instead of the symptoms. The disease is SWF and the games complete imbalance. That is why people get dodged.
So you dodge games because you don't like intended items being brought in or intended features to be used , but yet you'll cherry pick some noob lobby to roll stomp with UR add ons and a ebony mori and that's fair to you right? The bias is unreal, nobody is [BAD WORD] cheating were playing by the rules like everyone else , if you don't like to play against these things you might as well play something else because 75 percent of the player base is SWF we just need to give you people survivor bots and let you set them injured or whatever from the start that you want so you can feel better, but God knows we would start seeing "Nerf bots" or "one got the hatch!" Posts and then the world would [BAD WORD] explode
Found the entitled one! Everyone has a right to dip out of a lobby sweetheart, may want to dump some of that salt out, not good for your health.
Move on to the next game, Lobby Dodging isn't even remotely as common as you all bemoaning about it. Players DCing during a match now, now that's an issue to actually discuss
pats head you'll live
No it's total horseshit to have to wait 2 hours for a game it happens every night toe on ps4 don't tell me it's not common you know nothing and you're the entitled one you just are too if ignorant to see it , you think you're entitled to make everyone wait just because you don't think you should have to play a match with any challenge I'll laugh my ass off when they get servers and start time bans on you clowns and you're on here crying again
@Nikkiwhat It's not a problem for YOU, good for you. Most others are experiencing it. So your "It not nearly as common" bullshit is just that: bullshit. MOST games have penalties for this sort of crap.
Your dumbass post basically:
It's okay if the killer lobby dodges
SURVS DC WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I don't see a problem with the hatch, and it doesn't seem a majority of people do from poking around the forums. That said, your idea is NOT a bad one. It still keeps the ultimate decision up to the surv, and then they can choose whether or not to gamble on finding the hatch and making it through it--or just taking the W.
I could get behind this

If they are doing gens, who gives a ######### if they in particular go for the save or not? If I have other teammates and I'm on a gen, most of the time I WON'T go for the save, because at least one of the other teammates SHOULD be--and that gives me time to finish a gen.

Hypocrisy at its finest.
You cannot do a Multiplayer Onlinegame without expecting that Friends want to play together. And I am not talking about 4 Man SWFs who want to bully Killers, there are way more normal SWFs (2,3 and 4 Man) who play completely normally.
But it is surely not intended that Killers can decide that they want the easy games.
btw. every Killer that does not dodge has my respect. Those are either the Killers that really play fair and for fun or the really good Killers.
But survivors can decide to have easy games by playing in a way the game was never intended to? Or by last second switching?
I never lobby dodge, not because I am good, and certainly not because I enjoy going up against 4 stacks; but because I know i will never BECOME a good killer by dodging the harder games like a little #########. What am I rewarded with?

Still, I won't give in to these pricks by becoming them.
SWF complain about dodging killers. But they disconnect the moment they can´t bully a killer.

Well, I SUCK as killer, and I am trying to learn nurse. I am TERRIBLE with her blinks right now. I just don't get them, their range, how I seem to keep getting cucked by the buggy walls you can't blink through DURING A CHASE (I wonder if the survs I went against play her too and know which walls those are, come to think of it)...and I had a match where the first guy I injured. Not hooked, not downed, but INJURED, disconnected.
Literally, I found him within 30 seconds of the game, was thinking to myself FINALLY, a match where something good will happen to me as nurse, and the guy disconnects the second I hit him.
Go figure the other 3 survs were actually much higher rank and super good at juking/looping, so I lost my ass.
Like I said in another thread, my morale for this game is just dropping fast.

I have suspected the matchmaking is [BAD WORD]. I'm rank 17, and have ended up with much higher ranked killers/servs in my games. And in those moments, I feel like I may as well give up. As a new player, I have no counterplay to those who have made their way into high ranks. I literally don't know what to do to stop them because I haven't scraped my way that high yet. It is VERY deflating when it happens.Yes. This is another thing I see a lot. I get yellow/white ranks in my killer games often. IDK if they are in an SWF group, but it seems like they are not. And they get completely destroyed, I feel so bad about it when I see their ranks at the end of the game. I'll even go out of my way to give freebies to those few really BAD survivors if I'm winning by a large margin and can afford it, but they still die fast. As survivor too it happens. I was in a 2 man with one of my friends that I killed in the game mentioned in the OP. Both of us are red ranks. We sat in a lobby FOREVER and when we finally got a game it was against a yellow rank (14 or something) Huntress that stood absolutely no chance of catching either of us. It's unfair, we weren't even in an SWF with low ranks either. We found her Lullaby, she chased us for ages, we rushed like 3 gens at the start just between the 2 of us, then we took out her NOED super quick before she even hit anyone. I don't get how good survivors can derank just to play against killers like this. It's not at all challenging and just pure bullying. Makes me sick to think people do that.
This has been my experience most games as killer and many as surv. I play solo, none of my friends play this game. So, not only do I have to deal with teammates who couldn't take an hour to go watch video tutorials to at least know the basics beforehand, (and I suspect didn't even do the in game tutorial), I have to deal with pro killers who maybe wouldn't hold their own vs a VERY highly skilled surv, but rek noobs like me. On the killer side, most of the time, I get those teams that seem to know exactly what they are doing, where the best places to run me for loops are, forcing me to end the chase to try and apply pressure to other players, and are just otherwise seemingly godly survs.
It is really deflating when, on top of trying to learn how to properly play nurse and get the hang of her blinks, you end up facing survs that are so high ranked you should not ever see them for at least a few hundred hours, AND at the end of the match they throw the old "GG EZ" at you.
My morale has really been killed in this game, tbh.

Why dissrespect non t-baging/non decisive group of players? I am rank 1 survivor on ps4 for a while now and one thing I noticed while I'm playing solo is that at least 50% (probably more) of time I am playing with survivors similar to me. But killers still BM most of the time with their moris etc.I know there are respectful ones but sometimes I just want to be toxic myself since people are garbage anyway and don't deserve to be treated nice. That includes selfish survivors too.
I find myself alot in similar situations as you OP. I consider myself well mannered survivor. I dont use items, crutches, offerings that hinder killers abilities (mist, coldwind etc) and I play duo at max.
When I see 3 of my team mates have 3 items and somewhat toxic outfits I dodge that lobby as I know I'm not gonna get spared by the killers wrath when they bring their best addons and mori.
Also its weekend so alot of toxic CWF's out there so I quess killers just say fk it and be toxic to all survivors.
I'm just going to throw this out there.
Bitching because of a serv using certain items and perks is complete bullshit. Bitching because of a killer using certain perks/addons is bullshit. The ONLY things that should be bitched about and changed are:
Facecamping hooks (make some incentive to NOT do this, it's a valid strategy yes, but a ######### one and we ALL know it)
Teabagging (just bad manners, unsportsmanlike, and the only reason people do this crap is internet anonymity. These kids try doing an IRL equivalent would get their faces boxed, and that's what they need. Would teach them something about manners)
Flaming in post game chat (again, see point about teabagging)
Killer repeatedly slashing you while hooked for the sole purpose of showing you how much he hates you because you ran an item he didn't like (again, sea note about teabagging).
Players running certain perks/addons is just normal gameplay. To be an ######### because of someone's loadout is just play asshattery and if you seriously get bent over THIS, then you need to rethink your life.

Is this another "We just want to have FUN" topics?Survivors can and should rush the crap out of killers who camp fruitlessly. Yours sacrifice is what lets other players live (which is also, arguably, a pretty strong horror theme staple)
Some killers can patrol properly and still maintain map pressure. If they can't? The best way to punish them is by rushing the crap out of em so they wont do it in future games. If you're the one who drew the short straw, just wait you're ~2 minutes and then go join a new game,
Okay but the survivor who gets hooked has to derank? I think if you die from camping you shouldn't be able to depip
But why would you want to rank anyway? All you'll get is crappy lobby times and players, the only thing that sucks about being camped is not getting many bloodpoints
Then get more BP. I had a game earlier where it was a spirit with prayer beads and she yanked me off and face camped me like a couple seconds after the game started
That's just bad luck, it happens
I saw a video where a guy spawned RIGHT NEXT to the killer. I'm not exaggerating, he literally turned to the left and there was the killer.

I find the opposite to be true, its not a fact pls stick to the facts. I was playing hillbilly recently and landed on a map (not sure which) with so much clutter that using my chainsaw was virtually impossible. So basically, for the most part I was cut off using what is supposed to be the special power of my character. It meant I couldn't chainsaw sprint to gens, slowing me down, giving me much less map control, and really, undermining what is SUPPOSED to be hillbilly's main threat in the first place.

Having played killer a bit, I can't say I've seen this yet. What I CAN say is I HAVE encountered pallet looping. I don't see this as a problem, it is literally all the survivors have. What are they supposed to do, walk up and say "here, hook me?" Besides, if they drop the pallet and they eventually will, once you break the pallet, it takes it out of the game. Point being, there IS counterplay to pallet looping.
The only counter play to hook camping is getting gens done, and you can't count on a random team to do that for one, and for 2, if you are the unlucky bastard to be first on the hook, it makes for a really ######### game.
Get to Rank 1 and you'll see it!
Pallet looping on its own doesn't bother me too much. Like you said, it's part of the game. But it's the combo of everything I mentioned that winds people up.
From what I've been reading here, and watching on youtube, there are problems on both sides. And I'm sure once I get to higher ranks I will just see more and more of them. It reminds me of For Honor that way, the better at the game you get and the longer you play, the more bs you notice.
This game has a LOT of potential. I enjoy it, despite what my posts may seem to indicate (I tend to have the bad habit of focusing on the negative, and I'm that way IRL. I realize this, try to work on NOT being that way, but I can't seem to break that aspect of my personality. When something negative happens, or is a persistent problem, it just bothers the hell out of me).
But there's a lot of work needs doing, it seems. I hate to be THAT guy, but Friday the 13th was so great because yeah, Jason was OP as #########, but survivors actually had to work in unison to achieve their goal. You couldn't have everyone lone wolfing and all 7 escape. In DBD it seems people can lone wolf gens if they want to, as long as they have some situational awareness and one decent looper on their team, and get away with having 2-3 escapes (if not all 4). Part of the reason you couldn't get away with ######### in F13 that you can in DBD is because a single survivor was never going to be able to loop Jason indefinitely. It is literally impossible to do. Jason can and WILL eventually catch you, and usually a hell of a lot faster than in DBD. That, and there's no giant red cone of vision that allows survivors to see where he is. They have to go based on sound and music. It leaves a lot of guesswork and prediction.
I'm noticing as a survivor, there is little guesswork in looping a killer around. If I get caught, 99.9% of the time, it was MY fuckup, or the killer trying (and failing) to predict MY game. I can literally just react to the killer as long as I keep an eye on their red light. I can sit at a corner and just wait to see what they do.
Jason had no such aura. It meant keeping LOS on him during a chase, and only breaking away when you felt you could ACTUALLY make an escape, was essential to surviving an encounter with him. It gave the KILLER more counterplay to survivor perks they may have been running. And it meant that most survivors tended to travel in pairs. It was safer, more efficient that way, and it would allow for some great teamwork to either lose Jason, or make him get up.
There was also the fact that, given the right items, the survivors could actually fight off and kill Jason. Now I am NOT saying that this should be a thing in DBD. But I AM saying, I feel that F13 had a much better killer/survivor balance, at least thus far with my experience with DBD.
Both killers and survivors have some cheesy things they can do. Again, this is coming from low rank, so take my impressions of balance with a grain of salt; I know in FH I often feel lower ranked players have a skewed sense of balance--but they shouldn't be ignored entirely either, because many times a new player can see what veterans have gotten accustomed to "just dealing with."
EDIT
SORT of a TL/DR
I completely forgot to get back to my point; in F13, the survivor had to rely on predicting the killer's movements and couldn't just react to what they see him doing, since you couldn't keep track of the killer through a very blatent red highbeams type of light. Which, imo, is a good thing. Adding more prediction into gameplay makes it more versatile and fun in this kind of a game.
In DBD, survivors have no real need to predict to loop a killer. They can just react to what he does. Not saying survivors don't have to predict ANYTHING, but when it comes to chases, there is very little of it on the survivors part, while there is a lot of prediction involved on the killer's part. Balancing that out would be much better for both sides.

Try coming up against a SWF group all running DS, flashlights/firecrackers, pallet looping you, gen-rushing, hook swarming and tea bagging and you will have answered your question. If you pallet loop me, stick a flashlight up my butt and DS me in the space of 2 minutes whilst your friends have done 3 gens, you can bet your ass I'm going to take you to the f*** hut and spend 2 minutes nodding up and down right in front of your face whilst you die.In regular games there's no reason to facecamp. If you go up against decent survivors, by the time the guy you've been face camping for two minutes is dead, at least 3 gens should have been done.
But sometimes it's nice to execute a bit of justice. If you're a killer main, you'll be sick and tired of the sheer amount of abuse you receive from sweaty survivor salt bags day in day out. Call it stress relief.

If you're the last two then yes they're sitting by the hatch and asking you to die. If they come for you, both of you will most likely end up dead so there's no point. I usually let go if I get found first.
I mean, why not try the unhook, especially of said killer is nowhere near the hooked one? At least try. I understand looking for the hatch when you're the last one, but to completely cuck your partner for "reasons?" nah. I, personally, will never be that douche.
And then where does it go from there? You guys work on gens and open the exits right? No the killer will eventually find one of you again and it'll again come down to one guy on a hook and another wandering around alone, and I'd rather be the latter.
Depends on how many gens are left and probably the skill of the killer. Yeah, escape is probably unlikely, but at that point, you could choose to go down together instead of being selfish. I personally don't look for hatches until I am the last one left anyway (which, sadly, seldom happens since I can't seem to get the hang of chases

But a rank 1 survivor can face a level 11 killer thanks to SWF?In what game you get an easier ranked game when you team up?
Usually the game matches you against harder opponents because they assume you have a team advantage.
So how is deranking as a killer bad but a survivor can simply join a SWF and chose a lower killer rank to face?
Keep in mind that this kind of gameplay is especially toxic against newer players.
Players that would help this game grow.
For survivors there are other rules

Deranking is part of the ranking system btw, whats needs to be adressed is the absurd high amount of DCs
I disagree. De-ranking on PURPOSE (seen mostly with killers, from what I've seen around here) is just bullshit. I have no idea how one would address this, but it is done, and it is a problem. I'm a rank 18 survivor. I should NEVER have to face a rank 1 killer who purposefully de-ranked to 15 just to vs lower players.
But it is okay for a rank 15 Killer to face rank 1 survivors only because he SWF with a rank 20 friend?
Why are you complaining when a killer has actively has to derank and a survivor just can queue up with a friend, get all the advantages of an SWF plus can face a 10 rank below killer for free?
Double standards if I ever have seen some my friend.######### are you even on about? Double standards? I said nothing except that deranking on purpose is bad. I've already stated in another topic that SWF should be a separate queue entirely. Some want it removed, which is just ridiculous, as some people just want to play with their friends.
Anyone who defends purposful deranking, I suspect probably engages in such behavior, and is part of the reason why I, a rank 17 survivor, ends up facing killers that, when I check their profile, have some 900 hours in the game, rek the entire damn team in minutes, and CLEARLY don't belong at our low rank--yet there they are.
Just a note, you cant even derank to rank 17. Those players took a break from the game and check back. I do the same until the devs introduce some new balance updates
I thought it was capped at deranking to 15?
Either way, there's a difference between taking a break and deranking from that, vs purposfully throwing games just so you derank to face lower level survivors. (Or killers if you're a survivor doing it, not saying survivors never do this at all.)

How would such a predicament occur?Killer takes someone to basement, goes out on a gen patrol, someone else comes in to save, but the killer looped back around. Or maybe the killer brings 2 people to basement hooks for whatever reason, and one survivor gets stupidly lucky and gets off the hook, and dehooks the other?
I mean there are ways.

my goodness manthe reason to rank up was to have better games. Paired with strong players. Now you get matched with people at rank one who are complete trash.
Exit gates powered. I’m on hook for the first time. Another person gets chased and hooked in the basement and this fool is crouching around the other side of the map.
As a LOW rank player, I would like this as well. I am afraid of ranking up too quickly and not having a proper grasp of the fundamentals before being thrown to the ######### wolves. I'm having a hard time as survivor, and don't want to eventually rank up anyway when I am not skilled enough to be successful at higher ranks

If you're the last two then yes they're sitting by the hatch and asking you to die. If they come for you, both of you will most likely end up dead so there's no point. I'm a killer main that just recently got to rank 1. The biggest difference I see is the speed of the games. There is often no margin for error whatsoever as a killer. Efficiency is everything, which is why it's Nurse, Hillbilly, and Spirit for the most part at those ranks. Survivors generally seem more objective focused, as they should be. I know people don't like to play against the same 3 killers, but you lose at least 1 gen in travel time playing slower killers. It's math, unfortunately.See, if they did like Friday the 13th, and had a part or two you had to get in order to fix gens or something, then it would give the killer some more time. I think they should do this. Having been on the other end of a gen rush recently, I had no idea what to do. Gens just kept falling left and right, because I'd chase one person, all 3 would focus on the next gen. Rinse/repeat. Literally have zero idea how to counterplay this, so I was a little upset, to be honest.

Well not like close by the hook, maybe they are far away, but you see the aura, up and down, up and down.
Maybe they can see the killer is close to the hook or something, so no point in rescuing.idk. In the games I have been in, even if I get hooked with survivors far away, SOMEONE at least makes their way for me eventually. From the videos I have been watching, they shouldn't come right away, but stick to gens for a little bit because you have time when first hooked. But someone should have started making their way towards you, and all of them crouching and uncrouching like that? Kinda suspect to me.
A little something I learned too, is when you are hooked and the killer is near you, you can start to struggle and abandon it before the struggle actually begins, making you wave your arms up and down. That will signal to players that the killer is still near you.
I'm still new myself, but picked this up inside my first few games when I made the mistake of thinking it meant "come get me plz" and ran headlong into the killer :'D

If on the hook, and you see the other survivors aura teabagging, does it mean she/he wants the hatch (perhaps standing by the hatch?) and will not get you?If they don't, that is pretty #########. They literally just standing around teabagging, while you are hanging? That is pretty #########.

This survivor (I am on ps4 and I don’t know if the reports work, I have their name in case devs want to handle this) literally held my game hostage trying to get me to quit (and at the very least distracted) using an exploit by going on top of a rock on a hill I could not get to as killer.
“But Pemberley they probably were stuck in the map!” Nope. If their taunts weren’t enough, I actually managed to hit them and they deliberately scooted further onto the rock to self care themselves. It wasn’t until I killed their buddy and they were the last ones I SOMEHOW managed to get to them. They are the only survivor I have ever taunted the hatch with, and repeatedly hit on the hook. I have pictures. For some reason the post button hides when I upload them. I will try editing them in.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that survivors who act like this is why killers get extremely fed up.
Y'all don't have to take it out on those that don't.
Can you please not go Not All Survivors when I have a very legitimate complaint with documented evidence? I know not all survivors act like this, but this survivor did, and survivors like this are exemplary of what killers have problems with.
I'm just pointing out that killers act the way you mention, without the survivor acting like a PoS. I'm amazed at the salt levels simply evading a killer gets. I was called a loser just because I was able to evade a sub-par killer (I am sub par so if I can evade for 3 to 4 minutes, there is something wrong with your gameplay too), for a good 3 to 4 minutes. To the point of being called a loser for it.
Yeah. Killers act like asshats to survivors that don't deserve it too.
