I would change my survivor main to Laurie Strode, no questions asked. She already sometimes enjoys a psychological advantage that I like to call "Schrodinger's Perk," because it's easy and reasonable for a killer to assume that a Laurie player is running Decisive Strike, as she unquestionably has it available in her perk inventory.
So the Laurie player, knowing this, can behave in Obsession games as though she has Decisive Strike (going for really risky plays right after she's unhooked, jumping in lockers, etc.), whether she's actually running it or not -- and the killer can't definitively know without risk. So, you stand to get out of sticky situations sometimes, even if you're just bluffing. All survivors can do this, but with Laurie it carries extra weight.
(Bill players can do the same thing with Borrowed Time, too.)

This sort of change would defeat the entire purpose of her power.

I'm currently at Rift tier 23, with all level 1 Tome challenges done. My advice for the ones OP is still working on:
Plunder King: Bring some purple coins. I did this on my first try that way.
This Is Happening: Not too tough, if you can hit great skill checks. I brought No Mither to keep myself injured from the beginning, but I'm not even sure if being injured during the checks is a requirement.
Empathic: Pairing Empathy with We'll Make It gives you a really strong shot at this one.
-
AS A RED RANK PLAYER *SIPS FANCY BEVERAGE*
...I have no idea, since I literally just hit red ranks for the first time. At rank 5, it has been taking me like 5-6 minutes to get in a lobby, solo or with a group. Playing on PC, West Coast USA.
-
I would not have any faith in them to maintain two separate UI schemes, they can't even get one straight.
-
I just saw this, but, I hope that your recovery goes smoothly.
-
Maybe you should equip the Empathy perk irl, and not call for disproportionate retribution for a game mechanic.

But you forget the seasonal players, those who play a few weeks and then take a break to come back later after some weeks. Those players are kinda getting the short end with time framed tomes u know
Yeah, that is true.

HUGE DISCLAIMER: I think camping and tunneling are fine.
I have found that people tend to tunnel/camp more often if someone dcs early on, I’m wondering, why?
Heh, that sucks. When someone disconnects on me -- and especially if multiple survivors disconnect -- I tend to take it way easier on people, and usually either farm and/or let them escape.
P.S. Groot lmao git gud ez noob babykiller /s
-
It will be released next week.
If you're done with the first part of the Tome already, it's because you play a ton and are an extreme outlier (I, too, am in this boat). You can't expect them to frame this system around that kind of player, because they are in the overwhelming minority.

"Chase can easily last 80 seconds"
...if you're not evaluating the situation and cutting bait on a chase that isn't working out in your favor, sure.
-
@bududubdubdubs This is such a weird hill to die on, man. It's reasonably countered by some awareness of the map and survivor locations, plus the fact that they are somewhat sandbagging themselves with their own deliberate inefficiency. And I dunno what killers you're playing either, but there are a lot of ways you could conceivably deal with this on a power-by-power basis, if it happens to you as often as you are implying.

it's literally not transparent or predictable at all. you make it sound like "running past a locker" is something that is rare, and doesn't happen all the time by pure random chance.
If you know every survivor in the game is trying to hit you with a locker stun, you need to start taking routes around the obvious locker stun points (i.e. toward the guy who's working the gen you're approaching).
Come around a different way, focus on kicking and regressing gens, and get as many pallets off of the map as possible. Use their perpetual inaction and hiding tactics to extend the game in your favor and clear yourself a path to get hits in when you can. Zone them away from the obvious stun choke points. They have to get out of the locker and work on gens sometime.

I'm complaining about a strategy, not a perk, obviously.
You're complaining about a strategy of people coordinating Head On stuns, which is super transparent and predictable. One guy has to hide in a locker, while the other one is running away from you. Neither of them is working on an objective.
If you know that both of these people are coordinating to use this perk in this way (which they can only do every 40 seconds at most), then chase the dude off and then go find someone else who is a bigger threat. I get that it can maybe get annoying to be on the receiving end of multiple Head Ons in a row, but this is easy for you to see through and not repeatedly fall for, and if you do, then you're partially to blame at the very least, as you aren't adapting your behavior to their obvious play.
This is also just a weird, narrow issue. There's no "Head On meta," as it were -- you're probably just encountering people who are going for this specifically to goof off. I've been in "Head On groups" before, who are essentially throwing the match to adopt a silly, themed tactic. Of all the things in the game that you could possibly get super-tilted about, this is a case where it would be best to just let it roll off your back.
-
I can't believe this is still going.
It's an exhaustion perk with a cooldown, and it takes time to charge. People hiding in lockers and using this become predictable, and aren't doing objectives. This is such a non-issue that I don't know what else to say.
-
Haha, what? Really? Head On killing the game? This is where we're at now? 🤣
-
No. The answer to your question is no, because this is way outside of the scope that White Ward is designed to cover.
-
People are already doing it with Freddy.
The thing is, this pit is bottomless. It will always be something.
- Freddy is unfun because sleep mechanics and terror radius and fake pallets I guess.
- Doctor is unfun because madness and screaming.
- Hillbilly, Ghostface, and Shape are unfun because one-shot downs.
- Huntress is unfun because add-ons and ranged attacks.
- Hag is unfun because of hard-to-see traps, and forced crouching, and being somewhat campy.
- Plague is unfun because Broken status, and cleansing creating a game of chicken.
- Clown is unfun because of slowdowns and shutting down loops.
- Wraith is unfun because of invisibility and add-ons.
- Pig is unfun because her traps slow the game down.
There's no end to this. Something will always be interpreted as unfun, annoying to deal with, unbalanced, or whatever else you want to call it, by someone. This is the nature of the game's asymmetry. It's just what is, it is the game. Behaviour needs to draw a line in the sand and say "Look, this is our vision for the game, and this is what killers are capable of doing. That's the game that we have made."

I like bond, spine chill and balanced landing. My fourth slot is either adrenaline, small game, or plunderers.
I'm the same way, except my three perks are Bond, Spine Chill, and Iron Will.

Pipping has some serious moon logic, in this game.
It's best to study up on the different emblems, so that you know exactly what actions contribute to them. It's not always intuitive. Link here: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Emblems

When is it going to be released? I haven't seen anything mentioning it if they're going to be doing it SoonTM. I'd like to progress through the rift while there is still 60 days left. Speaking of which, shouldn't the time until the rift closes, be extended if not paused since we can't even progress through the damn thing?
The next level of Tome 1 will be released this coming week. They are released two weeks apart.

Can anybody explain me, why some people say "git gud" instead of "get good"?
It's just a cheeky intentional misspelling, because the Internet.

I, too, think the arbitrary sorting/coloring of perks is really odd. Having a "favorites" system (which is basically what you are suggesting here) would be a nice, small QoL change.

I WANT IT............if it's the OLD IT :)
If we're going with something involving Tim Curry, let's just have a Clue chapter, where there are 7 new characters, and they can all either be a killer or survivor. ?

Every match is already a massive roulette as it is. Layering another giant system of abilities on it would be way too much.

What a nice circlejerk.
So, if I tell you to git guud after explaining everything you're doing wrong and giving you suggestions, you'd listen to me?
Doubt it, some of these people think Spirit has "nO CoUntErPlaY" and think ######### like blue scratch marks is a balanced idea that totally won't fair Survivors...
Also, at this point, even if you are trying to offer genuine constructive advice, saying "git gud" is a quick way to prompt someone to completely disregard what you're saying, because it's become such a loaded, attack-y turn of phrase.

Nobody is discouraging legitimate advice. We're saying that people who just tell others to "git gud" often do it as a way to mock or cut down their fellow players. This is true in every game, not just this one. We're not trying to debate the finer points of game balance here, we're trying to say that it's not helpful or constructive when you have a dismissive, enraged attitude toward other players.

I absolutely do not support Blizzard's recent Hearthstone tournament sanctions at all, but all games have Terms of Service that give the publisher substantial leeway to terminate accounts as they deem necessary. This is never going to change.
Also, Behaviour hasn't done anything untoward in this regard, so I can't really say that I follow whatever it is you're getting at, here.

Detective's Hunch is massively more useful after the buff in the last patch. I think it's the best tool for the job now.
Also, Small Game.

Survivors don't say it as genuine advice it just to be a dick. Funny too because it means they could only win against a bad killer apparently.
When i first started playing survivor i did this for literally every killer i played and they were all happy to hear it but now i feel like it would be kind of patronizing to tell green rank killers what they're doing wrong
When the situation is right, I try to offer constructive, judgment-free advice to killers in post-game chat who are struggling. Especially if there is a big disparity between ranks (which happens a lot due to this game's space cadet matchmaking), it can sometimes be a positive gesture.

This x100000000.
"Git gud" has become gamer shorthand to patronize other people who express legitimate frustration about something that either isn't working right or isn't communicated well enough, or to dismiss their difficulties without actually providing advice. It isn't helpful to anyone, at all.

To be fair, the challenge does say "by any means." It would say something along the lines of "by your hand" if it was only for moris. I'm not sure how it can be any clearer, although if you have suggestions, we could definitely consider wording it differently in the future.
It could be way clearer.
"By any means" and "by your hand" are DBD-specific bits of very insistent terminology. I'm willing to bet money that there are tons of perfectly average, long-term players who don't even notice or connect the "by your hand" nomenclature to "any non-sacrifice." You guys are wrapped up in your own insistent language, which is what happens when seemingly no one is holding the wheel when it comes to UX.

Hmmmmm, it might be nice if daily rituals awarded Rift fragments.
-
I've got over 1,000 hours in this game, I'm a rank 5 survivor right now, and I sometimes still make a ton of mistakes that make me look like a complete day 1 potato. So don't feel too bad.
Keep practicing, and you'll get better. Learn to look behind yourself a lot in chases, so that you can keep track of the red stain and learn to react to where the killer is facing. Learn to run some of the basic loops (the one with the L wall, the T wall, and two windows is a good one to start with). Make sure to always do gens, and go for a couple of safe unhooks in every match. Makes sure you keep your teammates alive, because dead teammates substantially diminish your chance of escaping.
Also, frankly, at your rank you're still getting stuck with random teammates who do literally nothing, with no exaggeration. I've watched low-level streamers play this game at those ranks, and tons of people just hide in corners, Self-Care constantly, don't touch gens, and let teammates die on the first hook. These people harm your chances of ranking up, but you'll eventually get to a point where players are competent enough to do objectives.
When you do, you'll see yourself rank up. It'll be by inches, but it will happen, and you will notice tangible improvements in your play. When I got to green ranks, I was shocked, and I thought I would plateau there. Then I got to purple ranks one day, and I said "Well that was a freak accident, I'm sure it will never happen again," and now I'm purple rank every season, on the cusp of red ranks. It'll happen for you, too.
How often do you play with friends? What platform do you play on?
-
If we're going for those two choices, then sure, New Nightmare Freddy. I'd settle for an overall Robert Englund-style Freddy.
Also, New Nightmare the worst Freddy movie? What? I have never seen anyone argue this position, and I would almost go as far as to say that it's just about objectively not true, for anyone who has seen, say, Freddy's Dead. New Nightmare is the best one after the original and Dream Warriors!
-
Eh? How do we know what the next chapter is and isn't? Did they announce something?
-
On one hand, I think it's a little bit wonky that there's a delay at all, since four Tome levels with 22 challenges each would be plenty to keep a lot of players busy for a while. I'm hoping that this is how future Tomes will drop, and that they just hedged with a staggered release for this one in order to iron out any big issues (like those unreasonable level 4 challenges that have surfaced already).
On the other hand, this is a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" scenario. If it were only a week's delay, or they had dropped everything at once, we'd still see people complaining, because they burned through all of it really quickly.
In any case, I suspect the vast majority of players haven't completed level 1 of the tome yet. Remember that all the hardcore players on this forum are not remotely a reflection of the overall DBD player base, as we tend toward the extreme ends.
-
He doesn't have a terror radius at the beginning of the match, until he gets to tier 2.
-
This is a lot of perfectly reasonable criticism, and I hope you don't get shouted down by others. Dead but Daylight is very VERY hm hostile and unwelcoming to new players in numerous critical ways, and doesn't do remotely enough to build an inviting experience for them.
-
I say don't do it. It's incredibly wasteful, in terms of your BP and time commitment, to hit the reset button on a character. You don't even get anything besides a piece of clothing, and I would personally much rather engage with all of the other cool cosmetics available, than just the bloody clothing.
Save your BP for other stuff, it will result in a better place experience.
-
It's about time someone created a thread for others to share their opinions about dedicated servers, since no one has talked about them here at all ever.
