If you're so impeded by pallets and windows that you need to play a Killer specifically designed to counter them, you need to work on your Killer game.

    Listen to that guy people.
Pallets do not exists and aren't a huge time waster.
Nurse being the god tier of this game since release is pure coincidence.

Careful, you're probably talking to a college professor who just happens to be a head mod of the DbD Reddit.

That also probably happens to be a nurse expert but that get more 4k as Billy, while playing 90% of survivor. Yup. Very likely.
I don't want to offend such a person.

No, since this will 'buff' bloodpoint bots.

    There are bloodpoint bots?

Yes, mainly AFK docs, or laggswitching Freddies. There's a Steam group called "Laggswitch DBD". Where they're all using Bloodpoint build (TOTH, Whispers, BBQ, spies of the shadow) and 4K every game. Can't understand how that's fun. But they get 30k points in 4 minutes.

    Lag switching Freddies are bots?
Whispers and spies from the shadows give extra Bloodpoints??
You can get 30k Bloodpoints in 4 minutes without hooking???

I think you need to take that tin foil hat off...

Must be trolling... I hope ?

Tho, as a matter of fact, Self-care is just way too strong.
It's a huge time saver, it allows more boldness, more safety when healing, it forces the killer to commit into a chase even if the survivor reaches an overly strong spot, if he doesn't want to instantly lose the chase progress due to the survivor's self-caring, amongst other uses.

It prevents you from doing gens or anything while you are healing. Self care is very loud and you can hear it from a pretty good distance away, there's ways to slow it down and ways to find people who are hurt. It's not overpowered, it's the only way to not have to rely on your random/bad teammates to heal you. When it first came out it was actually broken, and it's been in a good place since then. They can just get healed by teammates which is faster if you switch targets.

Having to rely on teammates to compensate for your failures (aka getting hit) is the essence of that kind of game.
It doesn't stop you from doing gens, it's actually a time gain, since a healing teammate would actually waste more gen time healing you, than he would have by simply keep repairing while you self-care. (Simple maths : If he heals you, he works at 100% efficiency, you work at 0%. If you self-care while he repairs, you work at 50% efficiency, while he works at 100% efficiency.)

Self-care allows you not to stop your teammates from repairing, allows you not to have to regroup to heal (regrouping survivors is a good way for the killer to pressure multiple survivors at once and distrupt them efficiently), allows you to get in a corner to safely heal without having to bring a teammate there either, and extensively, as stated above, it forces killer to commit to chases through strong windows (aka coal tower and such) if they do not want to lose the initial hit they managed to get due to self-care, while a non-self-care survivor would have to possibly take a risk stepping away from it to get healed.

It just has TOO MANY BENEFITS in a single perk, which explains the humongous 80%+ pickrate of the perk, including new survivors (% that will surely increase due to the latest patch, allowing newcomers to have self-care at level 1 with a level 1 claudette).

It is just way too practical AND versatile to bypass, which is why it is too strong. A perk should fit a playstyle, not be a stupid "mandatory perk because it's strong and useful in nearly every situations"

It's very easy to get hit, killers run faster than you. Healing and then working on a gen with 2 people is much faster. Also the too many benefits in a single perk can be applied to BBQ which 90% of killers use. BBQ is the killers practical and versatile perk that everyone runs. All killers just complain about self care being used too much which makes it broken, when every killer uses BBQ. So hopefully that gets nerfed soon going by the logic.

"Very easy to get hit" clearly depends on the situation.
Healing and working on a gen with 2 people is not faster, it's actually slower.
    Simple maths :
    You're self-caring (50% efficiency)
1 guy is repairing alone (100% efficiency)
another guy is repairing alone (100% efficiency)
Total efficiency : 250% at all times with no break.

You get healed by your 2 teammates (200% efficiency)
Then, you all have to get positioned to a gen (that has possibly not 3 slots)
You all get the malus for repairing at multiple survivor (-10% per extra survivor on a gen)
You're actually wasting time playing as a team and regrouping, compared to self-caring.

BBQ is a perk that is mostly ran to get the BP bonus to make the pain of a life to play killer worth it. The aura reading is mostly beneficial only on a few killers, and actually got nerfed next patch due to the color change of the generator aura to red, which allows survivor to hide behind them without being spottable.
Do you see any killer complaining about this ? No. Why ? Because we got used to get our stuff changed and nerfed and learnt to adapt rather than simply saying "No." (even tho BBQ wasn't even broken in the first place)
Not to mention BBQ has CONDITIONS (Hooking someone, looking around, rage limitations), and is SITUATIONAL (depending on the number of survivors, and eventually not usable if you're in a hurry to do something else) and not VERSATILE (it's very rigid and won't get useful most of the time), unlike self-care.

Also, BBQ is another subject. Trying to make an argument for self-care using BBQ is pretty sad.
BBQ is pretty far from a 80% perk usage. I actually removed it from all of my killers except from Billy, since I got all the BPs I needed.

  • Shirtless Kate please ?

  • Looks cool, don't forget to put it in the guide section if you haven't!
The robot voice tho... 13mins is long.

  • Let's do the same thing with gens.
Add some holes all over the map.
Give a plastic mallet to killers, and rename the game "Whack a survivor" as everyone run all over the place.

    Now that would be fun.

Like I've said in other threads, I don't have an issue with this and suggested the very same things. Also those complaining about it both sides need to adapt to the changes since the only things in life that never changing are death and taxes.

I never said there weren't some decent survivors around.
I just said the complaining people are just hilarious, especially since they basically give 0 arguments for the most part.

  • I think you're considering the game without windows and pallets, which is very wrong.
Nurse is just superior in most aspects, except if survivors do run brainlessly in the open.

  • This is actually hilarious.
"Oh noes, my instant-reward buttons are getting away, please BHVR, don't!"

  • +1, this "SB nerf", that is more of an exhaustion nerf, is just not adressing the Sprint Burst issues a single bit.
Additionally, the 3 other exhastion perks didn't deserve such a treatment.

  • The Self-care change is pretty good. It will allow killers to interrupt heals by coming back people standing at juking spot, efficiently wasting their time and punishing them from standing there to get healed.

I'm not much of a fan of the SB nerf, that is not truly a SB nerf, but an exhaustion nerf.
Only SB needs to get nerfed. Not the other 3 exhaustion perks.

  • @SnakeSound222
Was anything said about Doctor? Is he getting changes in the upcoming patch?

Nope. Nothing on Doc. We did talk about him with the devs when the PTB was on.
They'll give it time before deciding anything for him since they changed the pallet mecanics (no vacuum) and it can actually make him way stronger than he used to be, potentially.
But so far, they seem pretty satisfied about him.
If you got any suggestions tho, don't hesitate.

The only reason I see for dbd not to follow this kind of conduct is simply cowardice or marketing choice.

The devs don't want to upset the special snowflake survivors. Reeeeee freddy iz OP!!!

    What basically happened is :
Freddy got released, they hoped for people to like it. They didn't (since it was poorly thought out). Destroyed the game review.

In order to save the reviews, they hastily released a nerf patch, so people could transform their review into something better, mostly by also making sure he was as innefficient as possible as well as clunky/boring to play so people would stop it.

Buffing him now would be simply admitting they nerfed it for a business reason more than for an actual one, especially since they do not tend to nerf things quickly in usual conditions.

    That's why they're not trustable : marketing.

Wow, that's going above and beyond! Appreciated.

Can you give me details about the house where it was happening ? Was it Laurie's or another one ?

Oh, that's a good question. I can't recall the exact house, but I believe it was:

    1. Not a house near the corner of the map
    2. It was not a house with a garage and/or basement with a generator
    3. It had a staircase going up to the left (facing in from the front door) and no windows on the wall of the main floor to the right.
    4. The house probably had a window on the front wall, to the right of the front door

It honestly sounds like Lauries from my description, but I can't remember if the killer's basement was there or not behind the stairs. I was facing the wall opposite to where the basement would have been if it was there after all, looking at the survivors aura just outside.

That should be sufficient, we'll test that out a bit

  • I only camp when it's the most optimal strategy for me to use, or to make myself unpredictable randomly.

Just make sure to manipulate the red stain, as killer, to mindgame.
Just moonwalk a lot, or show it at some place and go the other way.
Eventually stare at a wall while walking in a vision blocking loop.
It's not that complicated once you got the hang of it.

The problem for me at the time was I was inside a house on Haddonfield, main floor, with no windows on the wall. I had no terror radius as Freddy (Paintbrush + Monitor), so I could see my opponents movements outside of the house in the little alley between the house and a fence. I didn't even make it to the either door of the house to get outside though, because they were perfectly countering my movements. When asked post-game, they said they could see my red glow clear as day through the solid house wall.

I mean, if that's intentional, okay, I guess I have to give up the informational advantage my build was supposed to provide (at the cost of my movement speed) by looking away and guess what they're doing. I will take this into consideration if I'm ever in this situation again, but I can't help but feels it's just wrong.

2nd perk : the idea is interesting, would have to test it to see if it actually does anything tho.

3rd perk : Cannot happen, since the skillcheck button is space, which is the same as Vaulting or dropping the pallet. Using this power in a chase would basically stop them from vaulting and such.

Meh, I think we kinda have time.

Ruin is a must because it pushes the round to be 1-2mins long, which is way more important overall than having a random buff that may not even come into play.

    It will happen.

I was there when the Smash Melee competitive community began in 2003/2004. Around 2006 I made a video showing off a lot of fancy Fox moves like shine to upsmash, shield to shine, multi-shine, short hop double laser, shine to grab.

Know what was said to me at the time? "These tricks are really cool but no one will ever do them in a real match because they are impossible". Skip to 2016 Evo finals and literally every Fox does every single one of these tricks consistently, perfectly, and many times in a match.

My point is that at some time in the future, the general survivor population will be GOOD ENOUGH that Ruin won't bother them so much that they feel compelled to look for it before doing gens. When that day comes Ruin will drop to garbage tier. Trust me.

Marth and his depip squad already showed you what that looks like. Now just imagine if every survivor saw a Ruin SC and said to themselves "whatever".

    I wouldn't mind.
What marth truly showed is the unbalance of SURVIVORS in general, not only Ruin.

Ruin overall, is still useful. Even marth will tell you so. He's actually sad for killers that do not have ruin against the depip squad. You can hear him say "Aww.. No Ruin"

Meh. It's not very interesting nor well-though.

I'm not sure what they expected with that perk. If you're able to repair a gen, the scouting you get from it is usually rather unnecessary unless you like totem hunting. And for the totem hunting, you're just better using small game.

There's only one true technique over SWF :
    Make them to go over-altruistic.

It basically makes you to have to think your play and read how and when they rescue.
If they rescue instantly as you leave the hook, just camp.
If they wait for the last second, just come back for the struggling phases.
If they don't bother to save as you camp, you're against one rare case of actual try-harding SWF, and there isn't much you can do because whatever your decision is, they'll read it through and play accordingly, as a team of survivors playing accordingly will nearly always win unless accident.

My sister and I have a tactic we use against campers, and I will be posting a topic on it later, when my work is not quite so busy.

    Not rescuing and repairing works.
It usually never happens tho, as the "15 meters rule" is always respected by survivors, which is basically : as soon as a killer is running 15 meters away from the hook, the survivor get instantly rescued.

The most logical would be to simply remove the BP function to both WGLF/BBQ, and make these a passive. Perk slots should be for fun and mecanics, not for the grinding.
Then you could (obviously) consider a rework for WGLF into an actual fun mecanic.

That would be balanced and way more interesting, at least in my opinion. But my opinion does not matter much.

  • @TrumpJunior said:
Thanks for the update. I’m glad that people like you who are interested in a healthy game balance for both sides stay in contact with the devs. Keep it up!

What I suggest to people is pretty simple : don't expect much, be ready to mostly wait, which will eventually get rewarded with some decent changes over several months, and that's it.
Play the game rather casually, as it deserves to be, because the competitivity of this game is actually very limited and not being fully worked upon, except for some recent patches.

I can tell you that some devs really want to make the experience better, but they are very limited when it comes to the decision they can take, since, as they told me, it's decisions "taken way above my paycheck". That's why : do not trust.

  • @Jack11803
BBQ & Chili aura reading ain't that strong. It has limitations, and the red aura gens have been made also for that purpose.

It "eventually" limits camping, or more like, reward non-campers.
And it deserves an extra aura effect for a sole reason : killers, unlike survivors, cannot afford to have one empty perk slot to deal with survivors, especially at high ranks.

Maybe, when the game will be somewhat more balanced, you could afford to make WGLF stronger, we'll discuss about WGLF.

Additionally, in the eyes of devs, it's way easier to earn WGLF tokens than it is to get BBQ tokens, which also explains the difference. Aka : Bodyblocking, Flashlight saves, pallet saves, taking a hit for a wounded survivor, at the exit gates especially, and rescuing doesn't even require you to rescue a different survivor everytime.

In any case I can only tell you one thing : WGLF isn't on the buff table right now as it is, but devs do read suggestions that may come out in time.
The only resort you got is to keep asking I suppose. But you'll have hard time convaincing devs to buff a perk they did chose to nerf (because it killed the killer player base that migrated to survivor due to its sole existence making Killers not worth playing anymore). Just look at killers trying to make PWYF/STBFL viable for about 1 year and a half now.

  • So, using pallets as teleporting features was a "fine advantage" for survivors ?
    Well, now that's discutable.

Also : windows do not suck if you can use them. Sorry, it's just another case of "Git Gud".

How hard can a perk rework be?

    Clearly some perks need buffed...

There's like 8-10 perks I never ever see anyone use.

    Why?

Because they are weak compared to other options.

40% of the perks in the game (at least) could use some buffs and reworks.
If that was only me, I'd push up these numbers to 60% tbh.

The problem is that the Survivor meta Perks are too strong, meta Survivors will only switch their Perks of they get ones that are more powerful than the current meta Perks.

As long as some perks will be stronger than others, it will be an issue.
Perks need to fit a playstyle, not to be a "I pick it because it's strong" decision.

  • Barbecue and Chili doesn't require a nerf.

    @Shipthebread No they don't.

  • @TrumpJunior
I do trust a few elements of their team to an extent (Aka Jeff/Horvath), but I don't believe in the company's policy that is... a random marketing company more focused about generating incomes than being truly dedicated to their customers.

But yes, these changes are promising.

The only exhaustion perk planned to be changed is Sprint Burst when it comes to the exhaustion part.
They did mention a possible change for a faster pick-up animation to make up for the fact you cannot vacuum people anymore. It MAY get in testing.

    @SadonicShadow
I suggested them several times to give Sprint Burst a start-up (Aka having to sprint 2 to 5s, 3 could be a sweet spot, for it to actually trigger, rather than it triggering instantly), to make stealthing while using SB not viable, and also make Wraith and Pig's power more efficient overall. Not sure it will go live tho. I feel like they'll only put an exhaustion nerf.
A sprinting changing speed wouldn't change that much, but could do if you wanted to reduce the covered distance I guess.

    @Jack11803
As I said, it's not planned yet, similarly to several perk changes aka STBFL/PWYF that could use some love.
No Mither wasn't created to be a competitive perk tho. So I doubt they'll boost it to make it viable, especially since it's already rather strong with some Sabotage.
Tho, you're free to join in in discord and suggest them some stuff. But they'll answer the same thing they answer to us : "X is planned, X is not planned, wait and see, we consider your suggestions", basically.

  • Some Hag slight buffs are coming for the next PTB, along with the Trapper's changes.
In a few weeks that is.

  • Just make sure to manipulate the red stain, as killer, to mindgame.
Just moonwalk a lot, or show it at some place and go the other way.
Eventually stare at a wall while walking in a vision blocking loop.
It's not that complicated once you got the hang of it.

You can't lose the killer if he tunnels you with bloodlust 3. You can't always escape thats why the evader emblem should focus on the time you got chased/time in the terror radius.

The whole point of bloodlust is to force survivors to use strong pallets, that cannot be by-passed by it, aka the shack's pallet for example.

Most people do simply greed them and run to weakest pallet to save the strong ones, and pay the price for it.
