Great, so if it is balanced around casual players, then where are my nurse buffs? Why are we crying about ghoul and blight and nurse needing nerfs?
- Ghoul's kill rate is 58%
- Blights kill rate is 57%
- Nurses kill rate is 50%
Devs balance for a 60% kill rate. So these 3 killers are fine. Actually nurse needs some buffs.
You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. If you balance DBD around casual players you MUST BY DEFINITION contend with the fact that the majority of "top tier" killers that everyone complains about that needs nerfs are actually fine, and might even need buffs.
Are you using Nightlight as per usual? Stop lmao, casual players don't upload their stats

I feel white ward should also work on Abandon, it's the point of the offering after all

Who are these 'production partners', and does that mean you are outsourcing things like cosmetic recolours entirely?
I think they've outsourced for years, if you look at art station as far back as Silent Hill even the Alessa Gillespie outfit was outsourced.

Even if they will play this game, what do you really expect? I’m not really criticizing this desire, just curious how exactly do you see this?
Them playing with each other? Some random match or with content creators?
queueing up for normal matches, to see how the game is played by actual people

"Just because Trapper objectively gets less kills and feels a lot more painful to play, doesn't mean he's weak. If you're good enough at aiming a pistol, you can always win in sniping competitions."
I've met so many endgame trappers recently who do really well at him, I think people weigh him perkless/addon less too much when it comes to his value lol.
-
E for distance is still in the game with Dramaturgy and sprint burst when used correctly is far more powerful.
like oh no the survivor used E to get to a pallet they were already at, with recent killer design it would buy like 2 more seconds.
If we are gonna have powerful killers in the game with strong chase perks too, why can't survivors have more exhaustion options? lol -
He is fine without them, he felt BS to go against before when he could do them easily.
I love playing as him even now, the new bear with the cat skin is so cute. -
Anti-Tunnel? How about we introduce a system which punishes you for BEING TUNNELED, oh wait they already did:

What horror muliplayer is currently a genuine competitor to this game? Phasmophobia? Hunt: Showdown? Dying Light 2? None are even close to DbDs numbers.
This game needs competition, just other games that try fall inthe license chokehold of being stuck under 1 license. It has nothing to do with DBD, VHS also had the issue of being stuck with teenagers but that was the least of its concerns.
No Assym games ever thinks "what if we just made a game where we can add licenses into it after the fact and support it long time."
Otherwise your point I'd totally agree with. This game NEEDS competition. -

What do you mean “only comp sweaty DbD players play this game”? So everyone here who plays the game is a “comp sweaty player”? Sure doesn’t seem like it to me. Please tell us where you got the stats to show that the % of comp players is 100% and 0% for causal players.
Coz my friends wont play this game even when drunk, even popular streamers wont. Just ask anyone who plays any other horror game, they just sideeye this game like "yikes" when they are asked.
And the best bit, the players who play this game don't even play horror or watch horror anymore, it's just "DBD" players for the most part. At least from who I talk to. -

Its maybe simple why the s-tier werent nerfed, nurse needs mostly rework and for bhvr she isnt that problem, she has not highest kill rate and isnt the one survivors complain the most about. Other facts for nurse are game isnt pay to win because everybody has strongest killer for free after getting the game, she has some skill requirement on avarage bigger than other strong killers.
Blight had very little nerfs even the fact he is in the game like from 2021 or 2022 which is long and how long he had hug tech and overpowered addons, they remowed them which werre his biggest nerfs overall and where he is now ……… still s-tier and second strongest killer in the game. He is golden child of DBD something killers like skullmerchant, trapper, ghostface or poor toy chucky can only dream about plus the fact he is very liked in the comunity by both killers and survivors which is the biggest reason why he wasnt touched for so long.
She isn't complained about because survivors are numb to her coz they ignore her lol

Give Blight a reload. Either at lockers or on the go with a slowdown like Clown.

that's a good idea, possibly something for them to test, I love a lot of your ideas btw you put accessibility first.

We haven't seen Ghoul stats, iirc.
And as I've said previously, I wouldn't mind making Nurse more beginner-friendly.
There's no reason we can't take both perspectives into consideration. That was my mistake in my response, there's no reason for it to be one or the other.
well thats it, I love this game as a game for everyone, and recent additions have made it less so.
I know not everything I say is right, but I'm all for changes that make the game a better place for casual players.
So please everyone suggest what can make the game better, I know I generalise but that's all I want: Anyone defending the S-tiers is entirely the problem. -

obviously you only care about badly made killers and perks.
if you played both sides enough, you'd have noticed that it goes both ways and neither side gets their experience really improved, it only gets worse because they keep catering to bad players :)
I do play both sides, I just don't care for badly designed killers like Ghoul and Krasue. Also how Nurse and Blight havnt been nerfed enough Or rather reworked into a healthy place for everyone
this is obvious from Blight and Nurse being exempt from the Anti tunnel changes LMAO
they are aware, just not willing to make changes, yet. -

Also i hard disagree with this take, S-tier killers aren't going to turn players away, because the players in question aren't going against S-tier killers that often, and if they are, they are winning just as much at the average as any other killer.
You are conflating this argument thinking that average survivors are going against S-tier killers played by super high skilled killer players. When they are not ,they are going against average killer players playing the S-tier killers, often to less success than other killers when you look at the average skill level stats.
Survivors have barely changed for years, the only thing thats changed is the really awful killer an perk design.
To fix this game they need to make it fair for both killer and survivor WITHOUT perks and if they are gonna balance, balance around that. -

What when it hits a non - s-tier killer?
Well that question is irrelevant so long as an S-tier exists, by removing it from one side, you create a one sided game.
So until S-tiers are dealt with, balance isn't in the question -

Great, an anecdote, glad y ou have a good time, can you answer my question or are you going to keep dodging it?
I don't need to because my new question is more appropriate, S-tiers are doo doo and poison lol
Like I just don't understand why you'd ever defend them, the game is far more fun for both sides when an A-tier or lower is used -
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010243#Comment_4010243
I am not objectively wrong. There is a reason that in comp level play they put up MASSIVE restrictions for survivors and put all the killers on the best maps for them. And why tournaments have to keep putting up all these point systems and stuff to make winning or losing less about kills/escapes. Because at its core, the game is not balanced at the highest levels.
But either way. Answer my question, do you balance around high skill players, or average skill players?
I literally play dracula and Unknown and I never complain that survivors are OP
So explain to me why Nurse/blight/ghoul etc should exist? The answer is they shouldn't and if you play them, YOU are bad at the game -
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4010218#Comment_4010218
They are the only killers capable of playing at a high level against SWFs.
And as always the question remains. Do you balance the game around average skill level players, or do you balance around the highest level players?
If you balance around the average skill players, take a look at every official stat ever released for blight and nurse, and they are always either BELOW the average, or right at the mark of what the devs are balancing for. Thus they are fine.
If you balance around the highest skill level players, then you must BY DEFINITION contend with the fact that at the highest levels there are like 4 MAYBE 5 viable killers. And it would be FAR easier to nerf survivors as a whole (or buff killers as a whole) and then nerf those 4-5 killers, then it would to buff the other 25+ killers.
You are objectively wrong, S-tier killers literally are turning people away. ask any common horror fan their opinion, it's literallyt his game is trash
the only people still playing this game, who act like this game is a console, the only thing they can play.

Yeah I agree, it does need to listen to the casual audience. That's literally what I said. But you said the ONLY people playing it are sweaty comps, which is not true. They're a minority.
I apologise, you're a king, here is your crown
-
@cogsturning said:
I play everyday and I'm far from sweaty. If your argument is that the upper MMR sweats and streamers are dictating the balance of the game then I agree but they're clearly not the only ones playing. That's the issue. A minority is pushing things in certain directions and everyone else is suffering for it.
But 2v8 doesn't prove anythjng. I wouldn't have touched the murder simulator that is survivor this time around if it wasn't for the BP bonus and play while you wait. Take those elements away and see how much people really want to play that mode.
You mean all my friends and all the casual players I watch on streaming are wrong? there is countless people who think this game is awful.
I really think if this game wants to be better it needs to listen to the casual general audience. -
Yeah S-tier killers are literally poison to this games health
-
@SpringMyTrap said:
OP blames comp players for the game getting worse when in reality comp players' are only considered from the perspective of "you can turn this massively invasive system off in your isolated custom lobbies".
Most of the bad changes in recent years happened because casual survivors and killers had a skill issue they refused to address and devs catered to them :)
No I'll find it comes to badly made killers and perks
Survivor gameplay hasn't changed at all LMAO -

it's why the anti tunnel didnt go live
No, because it was obviously overtuned to basically anyone who reviewed it.
Hense how a killer like Krasue comes out
I don't think any reasonable comp player would've playtested Krasue and said "yeah this is totally fine". Most opinions have been that the killer is kind of busted, and that's not on "comp players", that's BHVR dropping the ball.
Dead Hard can't exist how it was before
Are you talking about DH for distance??? I think it should be blatantly obvious why that one was removed.
Imagine Survivor having S-Tier options for S-tier killers, unthinkable
-
@ReverseVelocity said:
If you look at the massive differences between Competitive rulesets and how Public matches function then you'll very quickly see that they do not exclusively listen to comp players.
That has nothing to do with it, they still listen to them, it's why the anti tunnel didnt go live. Hense how a killer like Krasue comes out and Dead Hard can't exist how it was before.
Also one two three four is badly designed and doesn't even work lol, and if it does its multiplacitive. I'm tired of bad survivor perks, same with the new killer hex perk -

The rift system, as is, sucks. It's unfair, prioritizes daily play (something not everyone can do) and the rifts also feel less rewarding than before. Give us infinite shards at the end of the rift, please. Increase fragment gain. Right now, the system is just trash.
Yeah its annoying how much they wish us to live our lives on the game.
-
@SkeletalElite said:
I get that they're trying to be proactive, but they're so out of touch that they're basically throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks. When something doesn't stick, they instantly go nuclear on it and make things even worse.
Fog vials released with several issues (spam, large strength difference between maps) and what do they do? Double nerf them into the ground so they do nothing except on the maps where they're the most effective like dead dawg saloon AND you only get 2 uses. They didn't need both nerfs. They needed to be fixed to have a constant effect on visibility regardless of a map and be given a limited number of charges. Now them and all of their addons are bloodweb bloat, like we needed more of that.
Anti tunnel system on the PTB favors survivors much too heavily? What do they do, completely strip it away while leaving in several nerfs/buffs that were meant to go along with it leaving the game in a worse state overall. The anti tunnel on PTB was fixable. Literally just scrap the penalty for killing the most recently hooked survivor. Take the penalty for killing with too few hooks and either A) change it to be based on generator progress or B) reduce the number of hooks so that it only targets extreme tunelling. Then they can keep all the other buffs like semi basekit OTR and delayed hook notifications as well as the killer no tunnel incentives like basekit BBQ and pop. Right now tunelling is even better because of the OTR nerfs. Edit: also scrap the incentives being different for different killers, the devs can't even balance killers with the amount of variiables they have currently and you want to add even more? If these incentives are too strong on the top killers that means the top killers need to be nerfed
The anti slug system wasn't even that bad, 90 seconds slug time is quite a bit of time before it activates, all they had to do was revert the basekit crawl speed increase. Now slugging is better because of the tenacity nerf.
Edit: And they're probably gonna do the same thing to Krasue (not that she doesn't need a nerf, but I wouldn't be surprised at this point if they murdered her), however I won't make judgements on something that hasn't happened yet.
Yeah they just don't have a vision of what they want the game to be like, and it's just a mess rn because fo it.

That could help with these occasional killer release disasters, I think releasing the PTB on more platforms would give the devs a better idea of how the live release would go.
I guess this is what I ultimately want, coz the dbd ptbs are outfight useless.

What would make people happy does not always equal what is correct.
I think that would set a bad precedent.
Yes, they do need to use the killswitch more often. We saw that with the Streetwise incident. No, I don't think putting a new Killer into timeout for anything less than gamebreaking bugs is warranted or should be encouraged.
She is, unfortunately, working correctly.
Yeah, its why I was asking to see if there is a way they could mitigate future issues like this.
Maybe releasing a killer in a seperate queue until they know for sure it's okay to play against? Technically that's the PTB, but it feels that fails as a concept these days -

I was absolutely not waiting for killer queues for that long across most of the weekend. There was a mix of killer and survivor bonus along with no bonus. The late evenings definitely are always faster for killers though due to the increase in SWFs.
Also this entire thread is just mostly 5 pages of utterly worthless bickering over nonsense just like every worthless bias thread that gets posted over these topics. The mods really should start just deleting them as spam and for inciting arguments. There is never any constructive discussion, its nothing but bait threads by angry people.
Isn't that what this is, saying people who aren't happy with how things are have no worthwhile opinion?
All you have to do is make some friends and ask them if they want to play dbd, most casual players will tell you outright no. -

I am on the same servers. These times can vary very quickly. The website has social media where they leave a log. On Dublin for example, just 16 hours ago Killers had 6 seconds and Survivors 3 minutes. Just one snapshot doesnt show the general trend.
Are you sure about that:
Coz its still like that. This is one of the rare days the extra server is on too
-
I love the lights from an accessibility perspective, very helpful for both sides <3 we need more changes like this

That would be a fun anti tunnel ability, my only concern is hyper mobility killers + small maps
-
I really think they need to start encouraging more positive interactions rather than creating terrible systems to punish people who aren't intentionally doing anything wrong.

Funnily enough, I actually started playing DBD on my new gaming laptop instead of PS5… and I hit a revelation... I now understand why people say gens are boring...
Good God, skillchecks are so damned easy on PC, I feel like a kid who grew up on gruel and tried chocolate for the first time at the age of 21. It's mind blowing... you literally just click when the line goes over the crit bar... there's no need to time anything at all, you just follow it with your eyes and click... they are so trivial it is embarrassing xD
On console skillchecks are actually hard... you've gotta stay alert and really time it right to hit a great, and the dreaded 4 o'clock skillcheck is brutal. I've had so many close calls and near misses on those skillchecks, I've genuinely breathed sighs of relief when I've clutched an important check... especially when using something like Fast Track or Specialist. BNPs? Butt clench moment every time. Sometimes even Decisive Strike an be an arse.
You put Huntress Lullaby on any of that, good sodding luck...
If people wouldn't get so mad about it, I'd genuinely suggest putting the input lag on consoles as standard for PC, cause I had to stop playing on laptop for fear it would mess me up when I go back to console xD
Yeah the input lag on console is really bad, I wish they'd fix it. I'm on an Oled TV and it's the only game I play with like that much input lag recently, wild.
