    Another conspiracy. Its getting lame.

Not really. Maybe not to the degree that OP states, but we all know the survivor playerbase is larger than the killer. They fork over more money. There is a portion of that playerbase that plays because they can play with their friends. Remove that, and they may leave, taking their cash with them. In that regard, then, yes, OP can, at least to a degree, be correct.

this isn't just doing something the other person doesn't like its FORCING one person to literally sit still for two minutes and lose until you say so

Or you could look at it like 'I'm helping my team win by keeping the killers attention.'

Some people would get banned over this BS and it still wouldn't be a harsh enough punishment for them to learn.

Get banned over it? Please. If people got banned for most things others didn't like, we wouldn't have mutiplayer games.

  • I can murder all four of you and depip. O well.

Now, maybe they can adjust the system, so that hooked survivors gain points when a killer is face camping? That way they can at least black pip.

  • If they face camped and still made it with 30k bp, it's either one of two cases. Ya'll fed the bejesus out of him with getting into chases near the survivor, continually trying to save and/or heal, or getting smacked near them.

The other is that they weren't face camping, were playing normally, applying excellent map pressure, and you survivors simply attempting to loop or complete objectives near the hanged survivor, and simply drew him back to them.

  • I like it. But we already know the devs would then nerf it down the line, because 'new and inexperienced survivors' can't hit skill checks.

  • Lithe + Dance With Me + Iron Will + Quick & Quiet = HACKER!

I've always enjoyed Lithe. Since there are such a vast amount of windows and vault locations, it just seems to be the better pick over BL. And it works better with other perks.

  • His secondary has a CD of one minute. His primary has 2.5 seconds. If you have no problems with other killers, than you really shouldn't with him. Just drop pallets sooner. if you hear him charging up his Shock Therapy, just dodge to the side. Or tank it, if you're at least two seconds from a vault. If you're hit with his special, just know where the vaults/pallets are, and gun for them a little earlier than usual.

  • I'm assuming this swarm of 'baby killer' threads recently is due to the lockdown, and nobody having anything better to do. If you're serious, then you should do some indepth research on your points, or make a constructive post and look for answers. But if it is a bait post, then I must give you the obligatory picture response.

there's no reason that a vs game should necessarily breed toxicity

There is, actually. You're pitting people against each other. That in itself is going to raise hostility, because somebody has to lose. And nobody ever really likes losing. It's a show of skill. Worse is a game such as this, where it's a team vs one. Either your team fails and was spanked by one person, or one person loses to a team. That WILL breed hostility. Maybe in different forms among different people, but still. It just comes out worse in some than others.

  • You don't. It's an online game which pits one side against the other. It will always have it's fair share of toxicity, more so here than others, seeing as to the nature of the game.

The issue with a rating system is that, after awhile, everybody will have negative reviews. Be it salty players or toxic swf. Not to mention how janked the matchmaking is atm. It already takes ten minutes to find a match, this rating system would boost that even further. Though I'm not totally against the idea.

Your solution to playing an multi-player is to not treat people like people. I bet you're really popular in post-game chat. 🙄

I play fair, and I'm 'really popular' in post game chat as it is. It doesn't matter what the killer does, there's always going to be somebody crying over some rule I broke from the survivor handbook. I once gave a survivor the hatch once, and was bm'ed for using Spirit. Yes, this is a multiplayer game, but as it stands, it's also a me vs them scenario.

The game, at least from killer side, is a time crunch. I don't have time to 'play nice.' I will tunnel, slug, and proxy camp if viable. If I want to win, of course. If I notice matchmaking has me against green ranks, I can slow things down and play at a fairer level, but that's rarely the case. If I want to win, I need to play dirty. Maybe if I were some god level player, that wouldn't be the case, but I'm not. I will be teabagged at loops. I will have OoO users ruin my Trapper play. I will have clicky clicky following me around, then vault spam when I don't give them attention. I will have a constant stream of 'ggez git gud' if I mess up. So, to keep myself from becoming incredibly toxic, I will treat survivors as if they're bots. Instead of me vs four other toxic people, it's me vs a computer with a dickish AI. Easier to handle that, mentally.

I thought about it but I make the worst killer only because I tend to let people go. I feel bad thinking I am ruining peoples experience or killing to fast. I also have the worst luck. I either get such horrible survivors that it is way to easy or such high rank survivors that I see gens pop and maybe see 2 survivors the whole game. lol

I still might give it a try though. =) Thank you.

Do what I do. For the most part, treat survivors like bots. Makes things much easier for your mentality if you just think of them as AI. Only took me 500 hours to figure that out.

  • Why not play killer, then? That way, you can have the full, toxic experience.

  • Honestly, my biggest hope is that they don't bring anything new with the chapter, and instead devote everything to fixing what needs to be fixed. A pipe dream, I know, but I can hope.

As for Candyman, I have no idea who or what he is, other than the brief commercial I saw of the upcoming movie.

It’s cheating because objectives are 12 hooks and you’re reducing it down to 4 and tunneling for it. I’ve seen it happen many times. 5 gens don’t really get a boost from anything except brand new part which then again, regression can counter whatever progress was made. There’s nothing bringing my teammate back 😂 that’s permanent. But the next point I have is that I am a player too with equal opportunity to play the game. It shorts me out of playtime and quite frankly Bloodpoints. But I see the killer has 30K at the end of the match? Naaaahhh that’s ridiculous 😂

Would you then consider the hatch as cheating? The survivor is bypassing the exit gate. What about keys? The team is bypassing gen completion to escape. Or Devour? There's a mori in that.

Again, though, hooking isn't the objective. Killing is. Hooking just enables that. If you want to hope to pip, with decent bp, you hook as much as possible. But to kill the player is the objective.

  • 'This guys lazy and cheated on his objectives.' What do you mean, cheated? He killed you. That's quite literally his objective. He won't pip from it, but it is by no way cheating.

Now, I agree that eboni should be changed. Personally, i'd put it after two hooks, instead of one. That way, you're only saving the trip to the hook, but that itself can be quite impactful.

Still, considering the mountain of issues DbD has, you'll let an item that you see, what, once every dozen matches, if that, push you away?

Well then, tehy do listen to the killers of the community, they buffed freddy and nerfed DS, why insist survivors are the only ones being listened to?

Freddy was at the absolute bottom of the barrel. He had to be reworked. And that alone proves my point. How long did Freddy need to sit in the toilet before something was done about him? How long did Trapper go before they did minimal QoL changes? Doctor? Bubba? It takes years before they're looked at, more before something is done about it.

  • Yamoaka is terrible as killer. Wrath is just too dark. I'm not saying Old Lerrys level of brightness, but come on. Almost any character in almost any outfit can simply disappear in those reeds.

  • It's okay if you're helping somebody on their last hook. But yeah, for solo, it isn't all that special. Just another SWF perk, for the most part.

  • I remember I went against a 4man, two being TTV, as my Trapper. After the match, where I was sweating my balls off, I went and viewed the stream, just to see their perspective.

It was illuminating. They're all joking, laughing, having a good time. While talking about one of their cars having a stained seat, they're also saying 'he trapped the left side of the window' and 'vault the pallet, I'll go for the save' and far right gen is at 80%.'' Just that simple communication changed the entire feel of the match.

So, when people defend SWF as 'not all SWF are tactical squads,' you don't NEED to be a tactical squad to shaft the killer. Simply giving awareness to your team and letting them know what you're doing is all it takes.

  • You're not using the properly, then. They work fantastic when you force an action on the killer, like vaulting and pallet breaking. I myself find them annoying. With flashlights, I can still hear the survivor, but with firecrackers? I have to guess.

  • That the Exposed status effect would show their auras to the killer.

  • I agree. Maps need to be smaller, gens more closely together, so a killer can patrol more effectively. It shouldn't take 80 seconds to cross a map once, just to hear a gen or two pop.

  • At the very least, Hex totems should give the Oblivious status effect while cleaning, as well as double the timer requires to break.

  • @Furry_Fuccboi Then they should display who is and isn't a SWF in the post game scoring screen.

  • @MigrantTheGreat said:

SWF also complained about this being a problem simply because they got tired of killer's knowing that they were a SWF and putting on a build/killer that wasn't fun for them.

Yet it's okay for a SWF to make a killer miserable. Gotcha.

I already said we couldn't get some type of ingame indicator in the lobby to signify a SWF. I commented that I would like it in the post game lobby, after the match. So I know who was in a SWF, and who just had god tier luck at solo queue.

Well you say actual balance like rank means anything. It's a fake mmr matchmaking tool. Ap it serves no real purpose and means nothing.

So letting people see the number that means nothing and then having them lobby dodge over that is indeed, something we want to avoid.

Lobby dodging over an arbitrary number is stupid and wastes time.

Them not "balancing" right, is another story. It's a 1v4 asymetrical game that is ever changing.

So I'd say queue times are more important than some false sense of balance based on "rank".

What does rank have to do with SWF, though? I didn't comment on rank, i commented on how unbalanced SWF is.

  • I asked this very question last year. The answer was 'so killers wouldn't dodge and lengthen queue times.' Apparently lobby dodging is a bigger concern than actual balance. I find it ironic how they know how completely unbalanced SWF is, yet want players to suffer through that.

With that in mind, I WOULD like to see SWF icons in the post lobby, so I know exactly who it was, instead of assuming everybody is in a SWF.

  • Doctor. . . . Who?

    Sorry, I had too.

Honestly, I don't know why he was buffed recently. I do wish they would explain their reasoning, to a lot of things.

Unless you're referring to his rework. Because he really needed that rework.

    in Doctor! Comment by Rivyn
  • I do like the idea, but how would you indirectly, or directly, buff killers to compensate? Remember, part of what makes a killer strong, or should, is the lack of communication on the survivors part.

That's the price you pay by playing a high skill cap character buddy. You either put the time and effort to get good with it or you'll make the character look bad.

That's no excuse to leave her overpowered.

I'm sorry, but are you really using streamers as the bar in which to set skill? Seriously? That's just asinine.

Your previous comments about 'a good nurse will decimate survivors' is obvious. Any 'good killer' can decimate survivors. They can also be demolished by good survivors. You 'may' have three or four 'good Nurse players' that can get consistent wins over most types of survivors, but do we really want to balance her from that viewpoint?

It's not just the skill required in a character that should be considered, fun should also play a part. Can anybody really claim that the buggy stun simulator that is the current Nurse is fun? Sure, if you're one of the few 'good Nurse' players, maybe. But for people coming into the game, or just picking a new killer, is she fun? I doubt it, at least going by the three million posts about her post nerf.

  • When the team outplays me, I'm a 'baby killer.' When I 4k, I'm a 'sweaty baby killer.' So, by the survivor rule book, all killers are baby killers.

  • Yes, but it depends on the situation. Did I see a Jake chasing me while I was going to a hook? Then I know he's around. Do I remember when the Nancy unhooked a survivor not two seconds after I hooked with BT? Then I'm going to search the area. Do I know the group is super altruistic and will drop everything for the save? Then I'll move between nearby generators. Did they three gen themselves, and I have somebody on a nearby hook? Then I'll proxy camp. Is it the EGC? I'm securing that kill.

My job isn't to insure the survivors have fun, much like it isn't their job to see me have fun. It's common courtesy, but not a requirement. If they make mistakes, I need to capitalize on it, especially knowing how fast gens pop. I won't face camp, unless the teabagger really deserves it, but depending on the circumstances, I might proxy camp, until I'm sure nobody is around.

  • Just allow Hex totems to relight to a random dull totem a minute or so after it was broken, barring Haunted Grounds, of course.

Not even close. Infinites were 3 to a map minimum, could not be countered, never closed off, and killer could never catch you. God loops only get 4, some a max of 5 loops if ran optimally, so no. Not the same.

More like potato and chocolate, a god loop is hard to deal with but still manageable, even with the one on ironworks you will catch up to survivors, with infinites you had literally no chance to catch up to te survivors.

Eh, when you put it that way, I can see the difference. I just thought of 'great, that's a three minute chase on that loop, might as well be infinite.' I'll change my vocabulary on that, though. Thank you.

  • @ThisLadyRightHere I have to ask. What exactly are you aiming for, here? You can see from this thread that nobody sees things from your point of view, and you obviously either refuse to see the other side, or don't care too. So, again, what point are you trying to make?

Such as what you seem to be doing here. If you can't handle somebody having a different mindset in how a match proceeds, 'why are you on the internet lol.' You wanted to meme, they didn't. Instead of antagonizing them and attempting to goad for a reaction, you should have simply moved on. Instead, you post here, looking for some type of validation.

  • Didn't say you couldn't post. Just that I see where the harassment bit came from. You messaged them, proceeded to insult them, then post the encounter here, in a public space.

  • 'Like what? Are you that sensitive?' You're the one posting this encounter on a public forum seeking to be noticed. Considering you're the one that messaged them, I can see where the 'harassment' line came from. Just move on.

  • Corrupt Intervention. Lol.

'I was out of that game within the first two minutes.' That's how long it takes for CI to deactivate. You just played yourself in that area.

Don’t listen to this guy. This is bait too. Killers can run on survivors just as well as survivors can run on killers. Certain killers really just have so much potential to slam people so consistently. This guy saying “low quality bait” is probably just bad at the game. Good killers get consistent 4Ks. They’re overpowered in the right hands. I once had a killer who still got 4K dragging everyone down to the basement despite the fact multiple times I wiggled off. Still got everyone with huntress. I’m a firm believer killers are too much. The ebony Mori’s, the fast walking speed, the ranged attacks/melee lunges. Killers got what they need to dominate. You just have to have some awareness and map knowledge. More often than not playing with random red and purple rank survivors i still Find that we don’t get out as often as I feel we should to make it fair.

Everything you just said makes me believe you've never been, or at least never stayed, in high rank matches as killer. By high rank, I mean at least 6 and up.

Killers seem to be OP in the early ranks, especially with new players. Their objective, and how they complete it, appear straight forward. it's only when you are in higher levels of play does it become cloudy, and the power role shift from killer to survivor. Every objective player can see it, and admits to it. 'Good' killers do not consistently get 4ks in higher ranks, nor are they 'overpowered' by any means. Just to claim that is absurd. I'm not denying that some killers can be particularly strong, stronger in some situations than others, but to claim they're overpowered? Come on.

Bringing up a match where the four of you potatoes out of a stubborn killer really isn't helping your case.

The fact that you're a 'firm believer' in killers having 'too much,' well, that's your opinion, but the facts state otherwise. Which, again, proves to me you've never, or at least held, high rank killer play.

Then to end it with 'we don't get out as often as I feel we should to make it fair,' that's just plain crazy talk. 'Fair' doesn't play into account here. You're not entitled to an escape. by whatever 'fair' measurement you have in place. To me, that just screams survivor rule book.

  • Because they couldn't be bothered to fix infinites.

  • Honestly, I don't see how a game like this can be taken as casual. It's competitive by nature. Maybe I don't have the mindset, but, well, how?

1 … 31 32 33 34 35 … 52
