I know, but they can't just drop everyone in one pool.... if they really want to increase gaming experience they are not allowed to do that, especially when we payed for the game and have to pay for all the new killers who we want.
Matchmaking isn't based on hours played, nor should it be. However, ranks, on which matchmaking is based, are pretty messed up at the moment. The issue is a bit complicated, but they are introducing a new system soon that will hopefully address some of the problems with the current one.
Indeed matchmaking isnt based on hours, but it just goes to show how bad designed the ranking system in this game is in the first place. First you get paired in some matches with random ranks, making it too easy or impossible; Second 20 to 1 isnt enough to distinguish skill, specially bc the conditions to gain ranks are also busted. In my opinion this game should have had a MMR system from the get go and the more details in it the better so you can pair people around the same level of skill and in some cases even in the same hours of experience.
200h players against 3-5k h players in multiple matches just goes to show this ranking system should be thrown away, along with de-ranking as well. You should de-rank alot if you lose a lot, and that doesnt happen in this game.
I agree with Fibi that matchmaking shouldn't be based on hours. I forgot how many hours I actually have in this game but I can guarantee you there's people that take it more seriously, and therefore, would get more learning out of their hours and be better more than likely if they were at equal hours to me. Number of hours isn't a direct correlation to skill. Not that the current system is flawless, but changing it to an hour based system might be even worse.

Because matchmaking is busted.

I would advise checking out this post, in which the devs both explain how matchmaking works in theory, and introduce their plans for future improvements: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/status-update-matchmaking-changes

MM is garbage
Less people are playing killer than before, probably.
Matched with 2k-4k hours survivors. No problem.
