I agree with you, typicly you can do totems here and there. And in a game where the Killer is not pressuring then you can do the totems and wont need to worry. But there are some games where the Killer has so much pressure where you cant do totems meanwhile. Cuz there is always someone on a hook, you are getting chased, etc etc. There are some games where you dont have simply time to do totems in the midgame. In a game where the Killer is not having much pressure there I wouldnt complain about noed, I complain however about the moment when a spirit with stridor has so much pressure, every time atleast 1 survivor on the hook and chasing someone and THEN you also get the noed once you managed somehow with a blessing of jesus to finish the gens with alot of hard work and sacrifices. That is the moment when I say, okey noed is completly bullshit.
If the killer has NOED, active, then there was probably enough time to do totems, as the survivors would have had to complete all generators.
Anyway, probably won't be getting a response from me. As fun as it is discussing things with actual cool people, being under the eye of such tyrannical authority isn't my cup of tea. So no response from me probably, I'm out while my account is still intact lol
-
I mean, it's a bit overkill, but I don't see why not. The survivor is practically screwed anyway at that point if they didn't find the hatch. If they get caught trying to get a door, it doesn't matter whether they take 1 hit or 2 hits after you close the hatch, they aren't getting out.
-
Usually I'll just approach a survivor and if they start running, I just stop and stare at them. Most of the time when they notice I stop, they turn around and check, and when they see me standing there, they usually turn around and start acting silly with me.
When they don't turn around, I'll chase them like normal, and I'll get them down, but swing a couple times and nod my head, and then pick them up and stand still (like I don't plan on taking them to a hook.) If they start wiggling, I'll drop them, swing and shake my head no, and try to pick them up again. By that time, I think it's probably plenty of warning that I don't want to kill them, so if they continue to struggle, I just try to take them out of the game since they want to fight me so badly.
Some people will just never take the hint, but I feel like 90% of the time or more survivors will notice what you're doing. Just gotta know when to cut your losses if you don't wanna lose the game for no reason that other 10-ish percent of the time.

That sadly seems to be what im seeing. As Nemesis players grow in skill however, i think hes gonna be right next to slinger on most the hated killer list
I find that hard to believe when Hag and Spirit still exist. Maybe he'll be like a top 5 or top 8 or something, but I think they top 3 for a while now will remain Hag, Spirit, Deathslinger.
For me personally, it's honestly Nurse, Michael, and Pig, but I have my own reasons.
-
From what I see, a lot of people aren't having fun against him at least. Mostly because of the zombies.
I've tried playing him, and he feels a bit clunky and not that fun to me. Playing against him personally, I don't really have a lot of an opinion. He's not hard to go against, but the zombies are kind of annoying because I can't hear them half the time I'm going around a corner, and they seem to do a pretty good job of just camping the gens and hooks I'm on when I play against them.

That weak argument doesnt make sense. There are alot of maps where it takes way too much time to do them, also at solo que you dont have simply enough feedback to do all 5 with your team. Even with a comp team it takes a while to do them, and doing all that for a potentiel 30% noed is not worth it. Yes noed doesnt happen that often but if that happens its just annoying.
Also many ppl like to say "UHH YOU ARE JUST A SURVIVOR MAIN" once someone says noed sucks.
You must have never seen/experienced a match where survivors break all 2 or 3 hex totems you have within the first 2 minutes of a match, and also end up finding out that they have 0 hex hunting perks.
Also, if people just started realizing totem hunting actually has value to it, and maybe started bringing totem hunting perks more regularly, hex perks would be even less of a threat. Can't tell you how many times I have gotten all of the totems broken and escaped. Not as many, but still some, games were even against a killer that had NOED and I denied them their perk. Yeah, it might take some extra time, but gens can fly in mere minutes if the killer isn't pressuring anyway.
-
I'm pretty sure you yourself have to break the totems. Maybe it just doesn't seem like enough speed since you aren't getting all the totems? Though, I'm assuming you would have broken totems before trying to test for quicker speeds, so I'm not sure beyond that.

If you want to explain your point of view then you can actually frame ideas in a way that doesn’t put words into other people’s mouths. Phrases like “So you want to” and “You’re telling me” are instigatory and pointless unless you’re intent is to deliberately get a rise out of others. So please, bear this in mind in the future.
If I wanted to put words in your mouth, I would be doing so instead of asking for clarification. If you can't let go of your cynicism and sensitivity to perceived micro aggressions though, then I don't have any reason to continue with you. You do not get to choose what I mean with my words.
Just because you think the intent is to deliberately "get a rise" out of others, doesn't mean somebody is doing so. How about you bear that in mind in the future, huh? Maybe not every person on the internet is a big bad guy out to get you?

As for how their power work, most instant down Killers tunnel less than other. Especially with Shape, Oni, Plag...you get nothing from staying at hook. For Pig, because you have to run for your life to unlock trap, and consider boxes spawn around map, makes you much easier to be spotted and get another down.

Sigh. I don’t know why so many people around here need to be so confrontational and begging for a fight. Whatever. I’m not “telling you” anything. So you use keys for aura reading. You’re about the only one because for everybody else using one is just nothing but a huge target on your back. As far as maps go, I LOVE rainbow maps. The only reason I don’t use them more often is because I don’t want to lose them. They’re a lot more useful than learning where your teammates are or the killer is for a few seconds. Perks do that job a lot better. Toolboxes make gen repairs faster. Med kits make healing faster. Maps make locating gens and totems faster. Keys? Meh. You can have them. The only thing they’re really good for is what most people using them for and that’s opening the hatch. Having them unblock doorways at least would give them a use that might interest people. Nerfing chests would just piss people off. My two cents. Take them or leave them.
The fact that your very first sentence is suggestive that I'm at all "looking for a fight" shows where your mind is at. I'm just explaining that I think there's merit in running a key for aura reading. You, on the other hand, obviously are just wanting to perceive things as a fight.
I like maps too, but the fact is they're almost never used unless in combination with a key. I can count the number of times I've seen a map in the past month on one hand. Funny thing is, I wouldn't even be raising any fingers, because there is no map I've seen in the past month. I think every item has value in running honestly, I just think it's ridiculous that just because a key wouldn't be able to be able to open a hatch anymore, that somebody would tell me that my idea is "useless," because like I said, I feel like every item, even if keys weren't usable on hatch, has merit in using it. It's completely fine that you enjoy using perks for aura reading (because I do too) but in my eyes, I just see being able to run 4 meta perks plus also getting aura reading from an item to be more powerful than going with aura reading perks and any other item.
I'd just much rather go against a bunch of survivors that are running Bond and Kindred than a bunch of survivors running DS/Unbreakable. I don't know where in what I said I indicated whatsoever that I was looking for a fight, but maybe you might want to check yourself before you go around insinuating things like that.
-
Don't count it out. They have officially stated that licensed characters are not out of the realm of possibility when it comes to them making lore.
-
I mean, you say you can aim where a survivor was and get a hit, but then turn around and immediately next say that she isn't broken?
I mean, sounds pretty broken to me. If it don't work properly, it's broken.
-
Classic.
-
For me:
All the time - Pig
Usually - Bubba, Ghostface, Freddy, Nurse, Hag, Huntress, Trickster, Billy, Myers, Twins, Trapper, Demogorgon, Oni
Often - everyone else

I'm just building up my stalk bar, I swear! 👀

The one big argument against this I hear is "oh well then everybody would just pick whatever survivor has the best unique perk," but I still don't see the problem with that. If anything, it will just make balance issues more obvious, kind of like how it was obvious how strong DS was by how everybody was running it.

Opening chests doesn’t take that long, and again if you want to save time then bring an item in. Aura reading isn’t unique. Perks do that job a lot better. I don’t think anybody uses them for aura reading.
Doesn't matter if they don't take that long when the item, at least in the idea I pitched, has two different uses. You don't have to use them for opening chests if you don't give a crap about chests, and just because you don't value aura reading, doesn't mean that people wouldn't find it worthwhile to bring for aura reading. That's literally the only thing I've ever brought keys in for, other than maybe giving them to a friend before I prestige because they're expensive.
Also, you're telling me that instead of taking aura reading from an item, and potentially running 4 meta perks like DS/Unbreakable/exhaustion perk/Iron Will, and having almost a temporary free 5th perk slot, you'd rather come in with aura reading perks and then a toolbox or medkit or something? You'd rather use your perks for the job that your item slot can accomplish? Yea, aura reading might not be unique if you account for perks and stuff, but you can get aura reading effects from your keys that you otherwise might not be able to get if you don't have those perks equipped or other items.

You’re not making any sense. You can bring both an item and an offering into the game. You don’t have to choose between the two.
It makes total sense. He said any other item in the bloodweb is more valuable. Sorry you don't get it.
And sure, if you want to say "oh he meant specifically items as in toolboxes or medkits," I still disagree as nobody ever uses maps, and I hear plenty of people call toolboxes useless too.
-
If you're complaining about the realism, then like the other guy already said, "it's a game."
If you're complaining about the balance, I do think survivors should have more pull over how they get dragged. Often times, it just feels like you're going straight into him. Even in times where I get shot with a piece of debris to my left that I want to drag myself over to, I can't even put myself enough to the side to get behind it by the time he starts dragging me. It's one thing if he spears me from like 4 meters away, because I'm already doomed at that point. Just at least when he shoots you at like 15 meters or something, you should be able to have a chance to put something between you and him. At this point, it doesn't feel like "struggling" as much as just letting him drag me in.
-
Other kiddie games like ROBLOX and Club Penguin likely also censor it, both games having comparably horrendous chat filters.
-
First of all, nobody "paid" for the map. Everybody gets it for free.
But, I do wish they had a system where it disallowed a map to be played more than once in a row without a map offering or something. Like sure, if you're just spamming your Ormond offerings because you like the snow or something, then more power to you. But other than that, I hate situations where I get something like Hawkins 3 times in a row.

To me, that feels useless. Why bring a key to find an item when I can just bring an item? It would just make keys less valuable in the bloodweb than any other obtainable item.
So you'd rather take a "slightly increases thick mist" offering than an item that allows you to read the aura of the killer or give you a temporary Bond effect, like a 5th perk slot?
-
@CountVampyr said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2293962#Comment_2293962
But what would be the point of that ultimately? Why bring a key into the match to open a chest when you can just grab something else from the bloodweb and bring that into the match instead? Speeding up searches or instantly opening them is not a primary concern in any match I have ever been in.
Because it would save you time in trials just like a toolbox maybe? Because you can still use it for aura reading maybe?
Literally just as an aura reading item alone, at least for me personally, I think keys are valuable enough to choose in a bloodweb. Especially if your choice is between something like that and a fog thickness offering or something.

Rather, the director of the game hates the creator of Jeepers Creepers, since he was a pedophile, the good thing is that he lost the rights of Jeepers Creepers if I have heard correctly.
I honestly don't see why that's relevant though. I've never even come into contact with the franchise myself, but from what I hear, there's an alternate version (like a newer reboot or something?) of JC that isn't credited whatsoever to the original director (forgot his name.) Granting this all is true, then I don't see why his hatred for the original director would be any good reason to not go after the franchise. They could talk with the makers of the newer film/show or whatever it is and make a deal that in no way benefits the original director.
-
I mostly played as survivor, because I thought the gameplay fantasy of "flee in terror from a spooky killer" sounded awesome. You can probably tell of what kind of game I thought it was, and you can imagine how I probably played accordingly. The whole hooking system was so odd to me, because I didn't really watch any guides or anything to get introduced (my friend just had an extra code and was like "hey you wanna play this?"), and I thought each survivor was unique and only used their perks and whatnot, like a hero-based game. When I jumped into my first matches, it was so panic-inducing trying to run around and look for points of defense in maps I wasn't familiar with and against killers who I was completely clueless about.
Pretty glad overall that I ended up getting that free code though.
(Edit: I also remember as killer I wasn't even aware of the fact that a lunge existed, I was just confused why when I clicked with the survivors in front of me my killer wasn't moving forward to hit them.)
-
Probably one of the best decisions you can make in this game. If you like talking to people that much, be ready for plenty of stuff like that.
I deal with it mostly by just laughing at the idiots and chatting pleasantly with the non-idiots.
-
I think it would just be a lot easier to make them be used on chests instead. I mean, the chests have locks on them that the survivors even grab and pull off. Why couldn't we just use a key to either be like a toolbox for a chest (significant speedup over several searches) or just instantly open one? Take away the hatch opening capability while we're at it, keep the addons and aura reading capabilities of it.
-
No flag-DS please. That would be terrible. 😂

well maybe otz should stop doing 50 kill streaks with trapper. It gives false impressions that trapper is good. Trapper can't compete so you either accept to play weak killer or do not play trapper at all. Its like that for vast majority of the cast.
The only people who get that impression are those who assume it. Otz never says the killers are good just because he does a streak with them, and has even come out and said that he doesn't want to give that impression. It's just supposed to be like a fun challenge, and nobody should tell him that he's not allowed to try a challenge on his stream if he wants to try it out.
-
As long as it's not something like Suffocation Pit where you can have like 3 L-T walls that all loop into each other, they're fine.
-
As you said yourself, it's not all players in that role that are that way, and I tend not to generalize, but I still agree with your overall experiences. Mine have been like that too. Survivors are usually pretty ruthless, even to their own team mates, and even sometimes more so than the killer.
I have few enough experiences with killers that were legitimately toxic, even though it has happened plenty, and would do things like just bleed me out on the floor for no reason or mori animation spam endlessly (back when that was a thing.) For survivors though, it's been too many times to count where I'm just sitting there waiting for the game to end and some survivor is just sitting at the exit gate butt dancing because... Well, IDK if they think it's because they're trying to get me mad, or because they think butt dancing is hilarious, or because they just love pressing the button on their keyboard... I'll never understand it.
-
Gimme an addon that just strips away everything every survivor and killer has. Like a Sacrificial Ward offering, but it just purges everything.
Make an an iridescent called, IDK... Black Hole or something. Make it a completely new tier of item that's really rare and costs like 15k BP or something, IDC.
-
Notice how many times you said something like "This example situation isn't toxic (buuuuut...)
The reason I bring this up, is because you point out specific ways of doing it that aren't toxic, but some of the things you listed, do have people doing it in a way that's relatively "toxic." Like sure, downing and rehooking a survivor while no other survivors are trying to take pressure or some situation like that, that's not toxic. But I'm sure you are aware of how many killers do down and rehook survivors again and again just because they can, and not because the survivor deserved it or anything. Maybe the survivor just didn't happen to have DS, and they just happened to be the one to get chosen by a tunneling camping killer.
I don't disagree with you mostly though. Plenty of fair points, especially that first one. I too hit the survivors right as I hook them just so they don't scream in my ear. Especially Megs.
-
I mean, I see youtubers, Monto or noob3 for example, doing "Toxic (insert killer here videos)" often. You don't think they would do those if they didn't gain any traction, do you? Even streamers will take in requests and get viewers requesting "toxic killer builds."
Not saying the situations you discussed in your post don't happen of course, but I honestly see it from both sides. People are always that way, inside DbD and outside of it, in other parts of life. People are just sick and twisted.
-
It would be awesome if they could somehow think of a system to allow players to vote for the map they want out of a selection, maybe 3 assorted maps that get voted on out of all of them. Unfortunately, with survivors being 4 and the killer being 1, I don't see that working out.
But my thoughts? I agree on all your points, especially the fact that they're a bloodpoint sink that I never use, like the fog offerings.
Only problem: you put "No more Spoopy Myers" in the wrong category.

Even so, there's nothing we can do but not play.
I don't think people should be discouraged from sharing their opinions and trying, no matter how slim the chances are, to get some eyes from BHVR to see it. That's how changes actually happen.
It might send a message too if people stop playing, but without people speaking up, all BHVR would see is "uh oh player count falling" and not know exactly what to do about it.
Thankfully, this is one of those scenarios where the answer is relatively obvious (fix the damn new content) and so simply not playing is an option at this point. Least until they can fix things.
-
How would you be allowed to pick maps when everybody else has to play on it, and also do it without offerings? Would every map just get its own queue?
-
They all look like mostly a crap ton of gen slowdown perks. Should give you similar results no matter which of those combos you use.
I dislike corrupt because I like permanent perks, not temporary ones. That's just a personal taste though. BBQ build is always nice, if you care about the bloodpoints.
My build I find myself running on Legion usually is Thana, Dying Light, Surge, and BBQ.
-
Never had that on Doctor, and he's one of my more favored killers. Hopefully just one of those things that will happen once and you'll never experience again.
-
While I have your attention, can you inform me of if Nemesis has come into the game yet?
-
The real question is, why are so many of your posts and comments survivor-biased baits when you constantly whine about this forum being completely killer biased? Shouldn't you be on a survivor main reddit or something?
-
SWF - not much opinion. If having to choose over it being nerfed and solo being buff, I choose solo buff. Don't punish people playing with friends. But, still, SWF is outright the strongest playstyle. No denying it.
Keys - I think the reason people get worried when they see a key (I know I definitely dodge keys when I'm not feeling like playing a sweaty game) is because of the threat, not so much the thought that "one person might get out with a key." Knowing that there's a key in the trial and there's no way to remove it forces you to play in a completely different way, and ultimately does end up often times leave you robbed of a kill you should have had if you make it to endgame. Even if you do close the hatch, the survivor can just go open it right back up. You're essentially forced to guard 3 different exits in any key game, which is nearly impossible to do unless you get extremely clustered spawns. Not to mention the possibility of a key and SWF at the same time, meaning that you have multiple people communicating like a hivemind and able to call out the hatch for each other for multiple survivors to get a free escape. It's just like old moris. They have the capability to be extremely strong and aren't even hard to obtain, so they're really annoying to go against.
Solo - it's miserable, I've played lots of solo and had terrible experiences. I'll summarize this reply with one:
I was playing Suffocation Pit, got downed by the killer (Wraith) near the middle of the map, and got hooked near the water tower thing (on the mine-side of the map) for my first hook. There's an Adam working on a generator literally right on the other side of the water tower, and he sits on the thing the whole time even as I'm right about to hit 2nd hook. Right as I'm hitting 2nd hook, this Bill runs right up to me, injured, with Wraith stealthing right up his butt, and unhooks me right as Wraith uncloaks. He does not have Borrowed Time. A Bill, of all survivors, farmed me off hook without BT. I get slugged for about half my bleedout bar, and having recovered already, I crawl toward the middle of the map to Nea, who hasn't screwed me over yet. She genuinely tries to come over and get me, but unfortunately she goes down as well before she can make it to me. Wraith then picks me up, and death hooks me.
This is why you shouldn't play solo queue unless you absolutely do not care about the outcome.
-
They literally said in the 5th anniversary livestream, and I quote, "Boon Totem Perks will give a brand new interaction to Survivors standing next to a Dull Totem in a Trail."
So no, you won't be cleansing the boon totem for a bonus.
-
I'm pretty sure it's literally just people being so insecure that they have to derive their pleasure from bringing others pain (in this case, in the form of ruining their time gaming).

Yeah it’s dumb lol. I kill someone off at 5 gens left and the three remaining survivors chain DC. I’m sure they all crashed at the same time.
I’ve had DCs almost every other game I want to say. People go down in the first 15 seconds? DC. It’s one of those times I feel like just running a super strong killer who doesn’t need addons in case I get a lobby of entitled babies.
Right now I honestly am trying to focus more on iridescent shard grinding, in turn making it desirable for me to get 10-ish minute games. If I play normally and just try to kill everybody, preferably without a crap ton of gen slowdown, then that's the ideal situation.
Problem is, for me at least it feels like nearly every game I get a DC. I don't even purposely go out of my way to tunnel or camp or anything. I just had a game, for example, where I hooked this Leon near the beginning of the game, left him and did my thing for a while (I probably hooked 2 other people in the meantime) and then the 2nd time I end up downing him, he just DCs on the floor.
So from that point, I'm forced to either cut the game short like I want to for my fast xp and iridescent shards, or draw out the game super long so the survivors can just get all the gens done and I farm some points with them to at least try to max out my BP categories with the easy game. It's all because of people like the ones I mentioned in this thread that just don't give a crap about what other people in the game are gonna go through.

It could be a coincidence. All I'm saying is, don't rule it out. Go into every game expecting it and you won't be quite as disappointed.
I think it's evident from any time they've not had/gotten rid of dc penalties temporarily, and the enormous flare of DCs that follows, that these DCs mostly aren't coincidental. You don't even have to look any further than this thread, even the very first reply, to see how unapologetically people do it.

Yep, it's off. This is exactly why I said they need to just fix the problem quick, not just disable the penalties.
