  • Naming a bunch of companies that are known for doing shady things like EA continuing to do shady things isn't really proving anything. If anything, all I have to say to that is that those companies are notorious for doing things like that, so... What's new?

Plus, that's only naming stuff this update. I'm pretty sure they've done similar stuff in the past, linking things to a set that weren't previously a set. You're also right about one part, it shouldn't be that way. The fact that it is just shows how little the companies are because they get complacent customers like you. No offense, I'm not trying to say that you need to be up-in-arms about everything. Just if you really think that with how disastrous this chapter is that some sort of compensation (even if it's not money) isn't in order, IDK what else to say. I work in foods right now personally and in industries like that, and many others, you can't afford to screw up because if you do you gain a bad rep, can lose customers, and end up going under because of it. I don't imagine making games is too dissimilar. But hey, if you're personally fine with being complacent and taking your mediocre servings, then there's no problem with that. Just don't see the point in trying to disregard the people who recognize problems and are trying to make changes.

I'm on the side of the people who have been affected by this but - and I truly mean no disrespect here - I don't think that anyone deserves financial compensation for getting an update to their game that messes it up for a couple of days. It's frustrating, yes, but it will be fixed soon. It's not like anyone was lied to, or the DLC falsely advertised, or BHVR ran over anyone's parents with a tractor.

Glitches happen. Sometimes serious ones. You just have to be patient, it's fair to say that BHVR isn't happy about this either.

I mean, there still was false advertising involved, as certain players claimed that they were able to purchase parts of the purple-tier sets in stores only for it to be changed later to a locked outfit. People don't appreciate their product being changed after their already made up their mind that they wanted the previous version, unless the new version is an upgrade. Just a minor nitpick though.

For most companies, if they mess up, it's typical to show a sign of goodwill by either giving something complimentary (and don't bring up 300k bloodpoints, that's a joke) such as a gift card/free desert at a restaurant. If you order a cake from a baker and you receive it with half of the thing collapsed on itself, you aren't going to be happy that your choices are either to sit and enjoy your less-than-appetizing cake, or to have to wait for a completely new one. The whole idea is that the company should deliver its product, that mind you people are paying money for, in good condition the first time around. They don't have to give a sign of a good will by providing anything free, but do you think customers are going to respect a company that screws over customers and isn't truly apologetic about it?

Can you imagine how great this game would be if a competent developer willing to put the time and effort into making it optimized would buy it?! They would probably have one of the biggest fan bases in the industry! Not to mention a lot of the toxicity in the community would go away because the frustration that creates it would go away! But let's be fair the game is probably going to have to be rebuilt from the ground up without spaghetti code before it will work properly.

You might be right about that first part, but the toxicity won't go away. Toxicity exists everywhere, so a change in developer won't stop it from coming through.

  • Sorry to hear you're experiencing that.

Like others said, maybe taking a break, even if for a few days, is probably a good idea. The game is in a pretty sorry state right now anyway, so it wouldn't hurt.

That, or if you're really committed to wanting to have fun, just try letting go of the result of your match -- meaning, care less about if you win or lose. I know it's kind of hard to do, but once you start putting all your focus into just playing and trying fun stuff, rather than actually trying to be good, it's like a breath of fresh air. I've been through the same situation, maybe minus the crying, but still. It is very liberating.

I think my issue is that at times he can land a hit across debris which makes him kind of hard to deal with. Maybe if he was more consistent with what he can actually reach across. I was hit standing behind a crate that was taller than my survivor but with a flat table between us he couldn't land a hit. I guess it's more his hit inconsistency than his reach. So to answer I guess it really isn't considering Huntress can actually cross map survivors.

Yes, I understand that completely, since I see many people complaining about his hitboxes being inconsistent when trying to hit over objects. But you have to think, even a killer like Pyramid Head can just hit completely through any solid wall. Nurse can blink them. Spirit can just phase around and listen for you while you can't see her.

I'm glad you ended up realizing it's not so much the reach though. When people refine their ideas about killers' strengths and flaws, we as a community can voice our complaints more thoroughly and hopefully get some good changes. I'm personally of the belief while he may not be absolute garbage, he is on the lower end of killers for sure. I think he could use a slight improvement in some area. Even if it's just his hitbox consistencies.

    God dangit.

Can the devs pls make an official anouncement that it's an automatic flag system and not an automatic ban system.

Nobody is going to get banned by a machine. It's sad to see so many people think this

Source of your information? Because it's hard to blame people for thinking it's an auto-ban feature when it was literally said word for word that they are working on an "auto-ban" system during the 5th anniversary livestream about an hour in.

  • This is why after the auto ban system goes through, I'm not even going to bother doing anything but maybe typing "gg" and clicking the "continue" button .2 seconds after my match. I'm not gonna let people like this even attempt to get to me, because it's not worth the time to let some miserable schmuck get their sick joy out of ruining my day.

Just pray to your based god that BHVR adds in an even harsher punishment than anything an autoban would give for people who are proven to be falsely abusing it.

  • Not that I don't care about your plight, but your post is addressing the wrong issue.

Penalties do not need to be disabled, the fixes just need to come immediately. That is all.

  • No offense here, genuine question. Do you really think 5 meters is too long? 6, if he's tiered up all the way?

  • For me probably sci-fi. We already got a little bit of western style with Deathslinger, and I've been saying for a while that we could use a robotic or cyborg killer of some sort, that isn't a fuzzy animatronic.

No. There would be no purpose for blood points beyond the initial find of the item and addons in the blood web if this were the case. If you die, you should lose your item unless it has a white ward attached. Why would you assume I think this way because I'm giving my opinion about something you disagree with me on in the game?

My point is, the whole purpose of items is to be like little goodies, similar to a killer's add ons. Items should not be a given, especially keys and really strong medkits and toolboxes. Bringing a brown toolbox or medkit every game is understandable because they're extremely cheap out of the bloodweb and the most common finds, but expecting to just be allowed to bring in your items risk free is silly.

I'm sorry you feel like I'm trolling because you disagree with me. I don't waste my time saying things that aren't my genuine opinion or that I don't believe are true. So don't waste my time saying I'm trolling if you don't care to read what I have to say.

You also think survivors should keep their items and add ons even if they die too?

  • Nothing new here. No sarcasm.

  • Don't worry, you'll get the Jonathan Byers treatment. They'll take the skin off the store for a handful of days, give 100k bloodpoints to the people that got it, and then address it not being up to their standards.

No but seriously, jokes aside, I don't know whether to be shocked or completely unsurprised by the decisions this patch. Some decent changes in the actual patch notes, some bad ones, but it seems like there's a lot going on beyond the patch notes that's got the community in a rage.

The Franklin’s nerf was VERY well-deserved. In no circumstances should a killer be able to steal survivors’ items. Keys are not broken. Killers running stacked regression perks are an epidemic, many killers have broken add-ons in dire need of rework, majority of maps in this game are heavily killer-sided. Right now, killers are almost unstoppable. Keys are needed to level the playing field against opponents running busted builds and crutching on broken Midwich/Saloon offerings.

    Sick bait

  • I say licensed killers take priority, as you can get the original killers without auric cells. That's if you're going to use cells.

My biggest choice would be Blight just because he's so much fun, but it honestly depends on how easy of a killer you're trying to get your hands on, or how effective you want the killer to be.

Bubba is also a pretty solid killer that's relatively easy to pick up and get into.

  • Best: Blight*

    Worst: Pig

*if we are assuming that his hitboxes aren't trash, which they are in current patch

  • -First conclusion to survivors constantly DCing is that the killers must be the problem

    -Doesn't even spell a killer's name right

I'm getting the feeling you probably aren't well versed in the game.

  • I don't know if you're in need of ranting because you're stressed over this, but... if you are, then why?

If you literally didn't do what they accuse you of, or you did but they gave you a hell of a reason to do it (think: tunneling somebody after they obviously try to use their DS on you in an extremely obnoxious way) then you have 0 reason to actually care what they think.

Just have a good laugh instead.

  • If you don't think multiple people being able to sit on a gen for 60-ish seconds uncontested twice a game is a bad thing when games can potentially be finished in single-digit number minute counts, IDK what to tell you. Yes, it is the right thing to nerf. People with that specific perk are constantly playing in the most obnoxious way possible just because they know the power of the one perk.

And no, it isn't as simple as "just slug."

Thats exactly what im doing everytime. Dead for dead, no way i give the killer more points or satisfaction while the only thing he does is running stupidely from a gate to another

    @SpitefulHateful said:

Just hide away from him whenever the endgame collapse starts. There is no fricking way you'll ever open the gate with the killer walking between them, so just play some hide and seek untill the time runs out. Sure, it's still a lose, but you'll deny the freak the pleasure of slugging you or hooking you.

So the solution to the end game is to stretch it out for zero reason? To "avoid giving satisfaction" when the killer might just want the game to end just as much as any other average player?

How is that anything but hypocritical lol

  • Almost nothing is appealing to me in this one, but still I've already purchased into it from the start so I'm gonna get my worth out of that 1k cells.

Nurse is just yet another dress with a lady-ish headwear (I think the cooler ones are more transformative, such as the body bag one or the war-themed one which has a name I can't remember), stuck perpetually with a... certain... look on her face. Yui's is just kinda bland to me, just equipped her with some biker gear and gave her a little different hair. I've never been a fan of the heavy winter gear outfits, such as the ones Nea and Kate have, so the Felix and Claudette outfits are automatically a bust for me (especially Claudette's, I dislike that hat very much.)

My favorite things in the rift have to be the Oni skin (which we've already had in the rift before, granted it being a recolor, but of a decent skin) and surprisingly enough the recolors tend to be the better ones in my opinion this rift. The frosty skins look pretty cool, and especially the Legion's new pirate-themed set.

theres only 3 chests in match typically if you don't bring offerings, and theres offerings by the killer to lessen that (which i think tbh shouldn't exist anyways as it like, causes survivors to waste less time)

Honestly feel that there should be more chests by default tbh. make keys only lootable during the endgame with a higher chance, so it serves as an alternate means of escape for the last person or few people (against say a bloodwarden play) wastes time, keeps people off gates etc when the match is close to over.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1595792#Comment_1595792

the key part might take a lil work as theres no particular value to just tweak to change item raritys when something happens in the match. but even without that, more chests should be in the match (even just as a special event) and everything should be mixed rarity to incentivze them. its even useful on the killer side as it wastes time off of gens, even if they do get a heal off or a neat item. Keys 100% shouldn't be lootable base game without plunderers though or outside of the endgame as it can allow just any 3-4 squad to easily escape through hatch.

It still serves a purpose in a way, reducing the chance for survivors to get keys. Like I said, I don't mind people getting keys like that as long as they're bringing in a looting build for it.

  • Because people make spam/alt accounts and it looks fishy.

Why does it matter to you? Apparently to you it doesn't, so why bother responding after like 5 months?

Wake up and realize this thread is dead. Nobody likes a necro post. Don't waste my time sending me a notification for a comment that clearly isn't worth responding to.

  • I don't think console killers are "better" on average than PC, if anything they're "worse" on average because of having limited motion as killer from what I hear. (I don't play console so I might be wrong.)

I have noticed though ever since crossplay got implemented that almost every crossplay survivor I've gone against has been mediocre at best, with me being able to count the number of exceptions on one hand. Maybe I'm just incredibly incredibly lucky/unlucky and I'm not even trying to make a claim that console players are bad or anything. Just sayin' that's what it's seemed like from my play sessions.

  • Just significantly decrease the chance of a key, to barely nothing, and let luck affect those odds. I don't care if somebody gets a key as long as they're building specifically for it with chest looting builds since there's only so many chests.

  • I understand what you're saying and agree to a certain extent, but not all cases where somebody would 1st hook mori means they're automatically bad.

For example, I've been saving up my moris to use as "insurance" against people that play like a jerk with DS. So if somebody tries to get me to chase them all game and clicks their flashlight at me and jumps into a locker when they clearly have DS, I'm definitely going to mori them off 1st hook and take them out the game to teach them a lesson. I also keep track (roughly, not like a keep a list or something) of people who are extremely toxic/just unpleasant people and if I recognize one of them I'm definitely bringing a mori and facecamping them, just to mori them off 1st hook if they get off the hook.

Neither of these things make me a bad killer, I just see doing it as a way to smack down somebody who's a scumbag. I've brought in moris before and not even used them because I was having too much fun playing against the survivors. It's just nice to have one on hand and be able to do that if needed.

  • I'd tend to agree about a few things. I feel like NOED and DS are popular examples.

Though, what I've been told is "the perks are meant to be used" or whatever. Guess people aren't going to mind when they get mori'd off 1st hook because it's "in the game" and therefore "should be used."

  • You know how ridiculously easy totems would be to break if you could keep the progress on them after getting off, like a chest or exit gate?

  • @oh_0k said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1550445#Comment_1550445

Yeah maybe if they changed some hitboxes he would be fine

Until you get any open maps like rotten fields or a super tight map with lots of stuff in the way

It also won't help his awful lunge after a rush, or the many other things awful things about him

I don't give a damn how open a map is, there will always be some sort of obstacle in a reasonable distance to bounce off of. Maybe it will be further and maybe some spots won't be possible if you're trying to run straight from one point to the next, but even in corn you can have things like hooks spawn, or even the shack if you're close enough. I wouldn't be surprised if chests also worked, but I'm not certain on that one.

Like I said, there are changes that have to be made of course. I've seen him not able to sprint through a doorway which already shows a problem. I've also seen the lunge, which I feel needs more control. Aside from that though, I feel like he has a pretty dynamic and exciting power. He's not just "M1 killer plus this extra feature" like Plague or Clown or Legion or Trapper or Wraith. Now that we have another killer with some spice in his kit, people are saying it's boring already. Most of the complaints I see about him are about how clunky he is and stuff, and I doubt that's something they're going to let slip through the PTB.

Once again I don't argue against people saying he's clunky (especially because I haven't played him myself) and I can see what people are talking about by watching footage but, to put it frankly, I think it's just kinda stupid if people finalize their opinions and make claims about a killer when they're not even a finished product. I like to judge the killer, at least during the PTB, as somewhat of a "skeleton" where you should only really consider what their power should or could be, not what it is during the testing phase.

  • I don't think I've seen one single person that said anything like "I think the graphics of this game are more important than how it plays to me."

Not one. Maybe they exist and I'm just not seeing it. Like a previous comment said though, why wouldn't you want a better looking game? I'm pretty sure different teams work on that kind of crap.

  • I don't think a lot were expecting a werewolf. I thought it was pretty obvious it was going to be a killer based off the pustula plants, by the way there was a squelch sound effect like the plant, followed by the sound of something glassy dropping (like a vial.)

  • TBH I like his power's design; IDK why everybody hates it so much. I know the execution of it is clunky, like I've seen footage of him not being able to run through a doorway because the hitbox on his rush is too fast. If the hitbox was thinned out and some small changes like that were made, I wouldn't see a problem with him. He kind of reminds me of a killer like Pig, if she was more based around the ambush rather than her traps. People seem to have pretty positive opinions in general about her. (I don't, but that's not what this is about.)

  • I hate her. I don't think anybody with a functioning brain thinks she's legitimately OP (or at least more than most other killers.)

I hate her simply because most of the ones I go against just play like a huge #########. I don't think she's necessarily impossible to get away from but it turns into a game where if I go down once, I'm dead. This is because all they'll do is put a helmet on, stick around the area of the hook, and constantly interrupt the person trying to get a helmet off.

It wouldn't even be that bad if she couldn't just follow people around crouching and waiting for them to go to a box to take their helmet off. The fact that she can do that essentially means that she can guarantee herself a kill just by playing in the exact way the devs are trying to design the game against. They don't want killers to be just sitting under a hook "puppy guarding" it and tunneling the person off hook for easy kills, because that's boring. Yet Pig is perfect for it. That's the biggest reason I just want to DC whenever I go against a Pig (although I don't DC because that's a ######### move.)

  • Honestly it's still possible to tunnel out of a cage (just not as reliable since you can't see the aura.) All you really have to do is just cage somebody and walk to wherever you think the furthest corner from where you are is. They'll usually be there.

Can't tell you how many Pyramid Heads just play like that. Literally just played against one a couple games ago where one of my team mates got hooked in a corner near shack (not basement) and the Pyramid Head just patrolled around that corner. Then I guess he saw Yui around there and for some reason she decided to go from full HP to being downed right next to Dwight by looping around the shack (I think?) and so PH has even less reason to leave. Then once Dwight hits 2nd life and the 3rd survivor unhooks him, the PH just tunnels Dwight and finishes him off. Then cages the Yui, and tunnels her the same way.

So yea, the aura change really doesn't hurt his tunnel capability that badly. Just makes it a little less consistent.

  • I don't have anything personally against console users.

However, I did notice a sharp spike in the amount of DCs ever since cross-play was introduced... Just saying.

  • The amount of people justifying the DC in here is shocking. Grow up or don't play the game.

You wouldn't join a team to play street basketball and just suddenly walk away when you didn't feel like playing anymore. You finish the game, then you quit after either team ends it.

Not that this game is perfect or anything but seriously why even queue up if you're just going to quit?

  • Pretty much.

I'm rank 6 survivor at this moment, and I just got paired with 2 rank 20s and a rank 17. I ran the killer while 3 gens got done (imagine how long that takes for noobs to do too) and the moment I went down, the game ended. No more generators got done, I got killed in 1 hook because the survivors wouldn't move their asses to come get me, even as the Ghostface that we were going against was chasing, downing, and carrying (yes, the carrying that allows a red aura to be shown of the survivor) the other player. Then all 3 other survivors died in quick succession.

I don't get how the matchmaking allows me to get paired with players who obviously have like 30 minutes put into the game. I thought they ditched the ######### broken matchmaking system and restored the old ######### matchmaking system, so why am I still getting paired with complete noobs like before?

  • There's so many small things they could do to improve player quality of life like this. Like perhaps allowing perks to be deranked just in case somebody accidentally levels one they don't want (like how some people don't like max rank Discordance vs. rank 1 Discordance). Or even adding a harmless totem counter. Doesn't seem like they're interested in small quality of life changes like this unfortunately. :/

  • Easy fix, just make perks that are skillcheck-based be under their own category like "exhaustion" perks, and make anybody with that type of perk automatically have a maximum time between skill checks (random number, lets just say, 15 seconds maximum duration before a skill check is forced to pop up.) That way you won't as often go through practically a whole generator or heal without getting single skill check for that Stake Out or Autodidact.

  • I don't tunnel (at least with the intent on immediately hooking people at most) and if I'm feeling a little spicy sometimes I'll just hit the unhooked person again regardless of if I have BT or not just to waste their time by having to mend/being slugged. I actually like going against BT sometimes because somebody will run right up in front of my face trying to tank a hit, not realizing that it's obvious what they're doing and all I have to do is wait 15 seconds. Then at that point they have no right to be salty because they're literally getting in my face trying to be hit.

The only complaint I ever make about BT is the fact that it's based on terror radius, and therefore can be completely ignored by certain killers if they want to facecamp, namely Wraith, Pig, and Freddy.

  • Pyramid Head/Pig/Demo.

All them have boring/really bad add ons, usually their higher cost ones. Some are also just useless (like Pig's skillcheck penalty add ons)

As I said, reeks of bias. Anybody who makes a point you dislike is automatically a "karen." You're one of those people that likes to toss around terms without actually knowing what they mean...

I literally have no idea what you mean by "Oh THe TeAMmatEs aRe BeiNg HelPFul To ONe oF theIr tEamATes and NoT doiNG ThE objECtivE. YEah No PrESsure aT alL" It seems like all you can do is try to hyperbolize what I'm actually saying instead of making an actual counterpoint. You either have no idea what you're saying and don't understand my point, or you're just being extremely disingenuous with your post.

Either way, I don't feel like I should take you seriously. If I'm being honest, you're acting more like a "karen" than anybody else lmao. You're blaming your flaw of being biased on other people, and then namecalling like a child when you get called out.

Please though, record a video of your legendary "slug somebody with DS/Unbreakable" strategy to show me how supreme you are. I'm obviously just some karen who has no idea what I'm saying, because it's not like I made an actual valid argument. It's turning biased because some of yall aren't making great points lol. An easy answer to your question is slug. "What if they have unbreakable???" You are still keeping pressure because you render them useless for the time they need to pick themselves up and then they can't use it again.

You aren't keeping pressure. You're losing pressure because you spend the whole time chasing them only to down them and have them get up again in less than half a minute. They don't even have to lose Unbreakable if anybody on their team comes to save them. Including somebody they may be on comms with, which pretty much guarantees they can save their free self-pickup. Tell me how that's "keeping" pressure instead of "losing" it.

And no, your first paragraph didn't become biased because of other people. It turned biased when you typed it up that way. As far as I can tell, you haven't done any edit to it, so it is in its original form. Remind me please how that is the fault of other people not "making great points"?

Anyway, your easy answer isn't all that great. If I did that every game I'd be walking away with no kills very often. That's if you could even know for sure somebody has either Unbreakable or DS. Let alone both.

  • I'm under the impression that these other guys seem to be: you're a newer player and don't understand the ins and outs of things. Not to be offensive or anything.

I do believe you when you said you tried looking up or down. I genuinely do. Lets say you kept getting blinded somehow no matter where you looked -- you know what I say to that? I'd rather have that, even if I'm constantly just under a blind effect, than having all those survivors instead working on generators. If there's like 3 survivors just sitting there assaulting me with flashlights, even for a full minute that doesn't even leave enough time for one generator to get completely done. I'd much rather have them sitting there trying to assault me with lights than have them doing gens, or even better yet, using them to actually get saves.

  • I know you said you're kidding, but I'm confused about what any of this has anything to do with 1000 auric cells.

What is the point when you have already made up your mind?

You think DS unbreakable adrenaline and sanctioned cheating (swf) are fine.

    End of story.

Like this one said, you already have your mind made up. I mean, if you can't figure out why people dislike a perk for rewarding bad play, then I don't know what I could possibly say to make you understand. Only thing though, "sanctioned cheating" isn't cheating, because it's sanctioned.

    It is fine.

If there was a downvote button I’d probably get wrecked for this opinion but I think it’s players who are not particularly good at the game who complain about them.

Their rules and use are clear and easy to play around.

If we want to do a wHaT aBoUt then yeah duh NOED is fine too. The game is actually in an amazing spot mechanically. MMR needs to settle so that deficiency in player skill can become more transparent, which is again my hunch.

So, somebody brings DS+Unbreakable and runs in to make insanely stupid plays right in front of your face. If it's easy to play around, tell me what you do in that situation to play around that.

I personally dislike certain perks, and it might affect my view of how I see a player, but that doesn't mean I'm going to act like they're not allowed or whatever. I just think it's dishonest to say that "it's players who are not particularly good at the game who complain about them." I know people don't like when people use streamers for examples, but honestly a lot of the higher profile streamers that I watch happen to actually kind of know how the game works, and it's unanimous among them how unfair some certain things are. They aren't "not particularly good," if you ask me.

I don't even want to make it about "this perk vs. this perk." I just think it's simply dishonest to try to frame things how you did.
