  • To be honest the whole "we never intended to significantly change the way auras look" thing kind of rubs me the wrong way...

Are we supposed to believe that nobody noticed this during testing? Or, perhaps, that these features aren't tested? I find either one kind of hard to believe.

its the measure of victory if i win i dont want to see a "you draw" screen

It's a "measure of victory" that pretty much everybody agrees is busted and doesn't make any sense. So really, it's not that much of a "measure of victory" at all. At least a very good one.

Point being that you shouldn't care. If you get 4 kills and see a "you draw" screen are you really going to tell yourself "It's just a draw because the game says" or are you going to tell yourself "I just killed all 4 survivors and did well that game"?

  • Allow me to respond with a question:

Why do you even care about the pips anyway?

  • First: OMG Billy nerf too much, please change!

Then: OMG Billy overheat doesn't do anything!

You just can't please some people. Personally as long as I'm not running into Billy running instasaw add ons every single game and Billy isn't allowed to just spam and miss his chainsaw 7 times in a row on me, I'm content with how he turns out. He could overheat way faster or slower for all I care. Thing is, they changed some of the most annoying parts about Billy from my experiences.

But, like I said, you just can't please everyone...

  • I'm with most people here so far: no, and for reasons I think are better left unspecified.

  • I'm not even colorblind and I as well have some problems with the auras. I couldn't tell where the hell my totem was my last game I equipped Ruin. The old ones were nice because of how pronounced they were.

  • You had a disconnect in one round, so your immediate thought afterward is to... Refund DLC? What?

  • IDK if I should be surprised or not that those mother's helpers slipped through.

  • Lucky you. I've gotten disconnects several games in a row. One of them I just ran the killer around a loop like twice and he just immediately DCed. Barely got like 5k points.

  • @anarchy753 said:

Personally I think they're great. They're saving me a whole lot of money by removing any temptation to buy anything.

    Haha, this.

I find it funny when people are all "don't like it, don't buy it."

  • I have to agree with a lot of people here, I don't think the auras are very good. The whole reason they worked well enough before was because I as a player could see them very easily as they were bright and pronounced. Now I have to really focus when I'm scanning around because it's harder to see the auras. Just last game I put on Ruin and I couldn't even see where the totem was. With BBQ it was a lot harder to see the survivors as well.

  • This couldn't come soon enough. Hopped on the game for the first time in a few days to play the new update, and I'm trying to burn some cakes on Zarina before I prestige. 3 games played, 3 gateus, and 3 games where there was either a DC or somebody killed themselves on hook.

  • I wouldn't call myself a Trapper main but he is one of the few characters I have P3 right now and I play a decent amount of him.

The main thing I can say in response to your post, since it mainly seems to be about finding somebody early, is don't be afraid to injure somebody and leave. If it's early in the game, it's crucial to get your traps into position. I watched an Otz video recently where he was talking about Trapper and he was essentially trying to describe the Trapper, and he sort of said along the lines of "There's maybe 12 pallets on a (hypothetical) map, and Trapper starts with a base 7 traps or something, so each one of those is essentially taking one of those usable loops away from the survivors." That's really butchering it, but I think that's a good way to look at it: even if the survivors see you putting down your traps, it's good to get them into those positions where you can take advantage of their ability to cut off survivors' loopable areas. If you get to late game, you're not really going to have time to grab those edge-of-the-map traps.

Anyway, that's the best way I can think to put it right now. It's pretty much just simply math -- getting those bear traps into position and constantly being able to reset them faster than a survivor can disarm them has won me over many kills just by sheer pressure and being able to pinch the survivors into a tight spot. Don't sweat the early too much, because the late is where you're gonna shine as Trapper. If there's an easy enough hit go ahead and take it because it takes however many seconds for the survivor to go through their heal process, and only takes you a few seconds to hit them and wipe off your weapon. Like others have said though, if it's early on and the survivor you see is going to a strong area that is going to take you quite a while to catch them at, it's best to just keep to your setting up and bide your time.

Good luck with the tips you pick up from the thread :)

  • It's weird how some people aren't even addressing the point of post... LOL

Why not nerf him a little bit? You prefer to have his busted ass static blast across a floor when it shouldn't be like that, ok Doc main 🤣

This comment shows your bias heavily.

Doc isn't busted. Just sounds like you want to nerf him just because.

  • I wonder what's making them take so long to address it. Both killers and survivors are just being so blatant about their DCing. They can't even make it seem accidental.

One of the survivors I'm getting grouped with starts the game and immediately runs into the killer and gets hit once? DC.

I run the killer around a couple tiles and they can't catch me because I just outplayed them, resulting in the final gen popping? DC.

It's like... People whine about having to deal with DC penalties but with the penalties currently removed it just shows the difference between how it is now and how it was when they implemented the DC penalties. People will complain about how they should get to DC because "what if I'm stuck in a troll game" or "what if I get slugged" or "what if I go against this thing I don't like" but then the moment people are "allowed" to DC, you see it left and right for the stupidest reasons.

  • Oof, you're going to have a lot of discussion between you and most of the players around here. Can't tell you how many threads I've seen complaining about rank because "omg my rank is lower than my opponent this game is unfair."

TBH I don't really care that much what they actually end up doing, but most people seem to be for a different system.

Hey that's a great idea about taking moris for "insurance", for some reason it never occurred to me. I guess in a way I was feeling that it would be a waste to take one and not use it but on the other hand that makes no sense as it's a waste sitting in my killers pack lol having it for a game where people or someone is being awful though, I've no problem using it then-I can think of a few matches I wish I'd had a mori lol thanks!

Yea I'm glad you like it! I don't like outright playing like a jerk, but because of that, it kinda makes it feel like the moris go to waste. It's better to use them for something than have them sitting collecting dust, just like you said.

    Have fun, mori responsibly ;)

  • Because no DC penalty means that cryhards can just quit whenever they want.

  • Do you think the "one fragment every hour" thing meant every hour of gametime? Like if you played games for that long? If it was excluding queue times that might make more sense.

What I'll say is that with just playing my two "daily" games for XP (one on each side, unless I've been doing it wrong the whole time) and then a few days here and there of playing extra just because I wanted to, I was able to complete the rift with a few days left to spare and a few challenges left in my tome. Sorry since I know time, like hours is what you wanted, but I figure I might as well pitch in my own experience, because I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to estimate how long it would take to complete those two games per day and challenges and whatnot.

  • I was going to reply pretty much what you already posted. I like Spies.

  • Don't really think it's the best idea, but I agree Pig's RBT is stupid and oppressive, and honestly needs a change.

  • Ha. Another complaint thread. By the same person.

Glad to see so many people calling this out for being whiny though.

I get that there are many posts on it but its because of how bad it is these days. I literally have no desire to play the game in its state and i stream it daily. Its like nails on a chalkboard. All im saying is if there are people constantly complaining about it you would think they would do something like a hotfix and bring back the old matchmaking untill MMR. Because God knows when they will drop it. And i will tell you if this matchmaking situation doesnt change soon im moving on until it does because i have 0 fun these days and thats hard to do for me. Ive been playing DBD through alot of the bull ######### and NEVER have i felt this way. It annoying man it really is.

Well I'm sorry to hear that. As I said, my mentality is that all we can do is just take them for their word. When their new system is out, I'll start complaining too if that doesn't work. But it can only be delayed for so long.

ok i get that they are doing that. BUT!!!! there was a time where the ranks matched!!! Yes there was a bit of a wait time but it was worth it. and what im getting from your snarky lil comment was wait for MMR to which has no release date so god knows how long we have to wait for that. All im saying is fix it for the time being. do a hot fix for this. this is bs im not gonna keep playing this garbage theres no challenge AT ALL. Then if i switch to survivor i as a rank 1 survivor get rank 20 team mates against a rank 1 killer so please... tell me... How is this enjoyable?? maybe people who arent that good or cant handle red ranks wont mind but this is too much.

Sorry for being "snarky," if you want to call it that but it's hard not to be when there's posts about this every single day and they've already said they're working on it. I'm not BHVR so you can't ask me how long, but the best we can do is take their word for it and keep in mind they're working on it. Making posts every single day isn't going to make the process go by any faster, and it's practically just spam. I understand what you're saying, but... Well like I said before, it's just already been said a million times.

    @SweetTerror said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1445347#Comment_1445347

To be fair they've been working on a new MMR for some time now, or so we're led to believe. The new MMR was supposed to go live in June, and that was straight from the horse's mouth. But now we're halfway into July without so much as a window of when to expect it.

I respect the devs wanting to take their time to get the MMR right. It's just hard waiting because matchmaking is such a s***show right now.

I understand what you're saying here too. I wasn't really aware that they even said a certain timeline for when it's supposed to come out, but delays happen and whatnot. I can't say BHVR is the only company that I've seen have a delay like that, far from it.

Also, they said they'd be doing live tests. Just a hunch, but maybe that has something to do with the rank disparity.

  • Preach it man. One of the few people I see around here that agrees with me about people being too caught up with their ranks.

  • Good on you for making a nice positive post. It's good to see instead of the constant, "BHVR NEVER LISTENS TO US! Oh, they did? Well, THEY DIDN'T LISTEN TO US HARD ENOUGH!"

  • The first suggestion is decent, the second one not so much. Pips aren't relevant to any actual gameplay. I mean, sure whatever make it to where people don't depip with a DC if pips make you feel good. Truth is though, they're relatively pointless.

I would be totally okay with people that DC just getting matched with other people that DC. Then the whiny babies that want to end their matches over anything they don't like can be matched with all the others, and all their games can just end in a minute and thirty seconds while the rest of us have normal games.

TBH, it would also probably separate a lot of toxic people from decent people just trying to play the game too.

I still think the penalties should exist for now until they come up with a better system, because we saw how often people DCed before the penalties (even some high profile streamers were advocating for DCing) and then they decided to penalize the DCs. Then the DCs went way down. Now we have them taken away again, and we can see clear as day that people are abusing the ######### out of it and constantly DCing. I've had more of my games have DCs in them than games where I didn't have a DC. That includes both killer DCing and survivor DCing.

  • I know, right? If only BHVR was working on some sort of new system, like maybe an MMR system to replace these meaningless numbers?

What's that? They already are? Oh, okay.

  • Do you have any idea how good hiding can be? I can't tell you how frustrating it is to start a chase, spend a while in it, hit somebody, and then lose them because they ran off and had Iron Will and Urban Evasion. I mean, I can't get mad because it's my fault for losing them, but point is it's not like stealth has no part in the game.

Sadly I've a HEAP of moris sitting gathering dust for all my killers just because I can't be bothered with the inevitable flak I'll get from the survivors. I know I shouldn't care but every time I use a mori I get a ubuse and it ends up souring the rest of my gaming day on dbd

I know the exact feeling. That's pretty much why I have yet to touch DS and have only used NOeD and ebony moris enough times I can count on one hand. I still have yet to have a game where I just go in with the thought of "I'm going to play like a jerk this game."

It is good though to bring one, just as insurance. You don't even have to use it, you could just keep your eye out for people trying to be annoying and take them out the game quickly. That's how I plan on using mine: like insurance.

I don't ever really use a mori myself anyway but it does wonders if you're pretty sure you're going to be going up against a sweatsquad. For example, just the other day I ran into somebody whose name looked familiar, and when I checked their profile I had them blocked (I block pretty much everybody who's either a complete ######### in chat or in game). It made for a pretty fun experience when I saw that, put a mori on my Freddy, and camped and first hook mori'd the person who I had blocked. I then proceeded to slaughter the others (I checked the profile and they were at least a SWF of 3.)

So it's not like you have to be a scumbag every time you bring one. Just use them to make sure your games go smoothly enough to where you can't get "bullied." The survivor might be mad, but... Why wouldn't they be if they went in with the intention of playing like jerks and got smacked down instead? I don't think something like that should sour your day. Take it as just another moron on the internet, because that's usually what it is. It makes for good laughs. :P

  • This post is literally a perfect example of why I haven't been taking this Billy complaints seriously.

  • I'm going with the answer a lot of people are probably going with: Otz. I also think Tofu is a good contender for me, he's sensible, not toxic, and is just pretty fun to watch.

Least favorite... IDK maybe Jund. Just see too much of Twitter beef like a 15 year old girl from him.

  • I wouldn't think it's "too strong" with some of the perks that exist right now.

As long as there's still some way to track, like through breathing and footsteps.

  • @KillScreen said:

"I think for the most part it might be your perks (it's hard to tell since you aren't showing them) and current addons being relatively limited, since you seem new to the game. Until then don't worry about it too much, just be proud of the things that you learn along the way and the victories you can get while learning."

@Huff The perks are in the picture. Bamboozled, pop, save the best for last and b&q. I should run Infectious Fright instead of b&q, but that's what i got. About the addons... i'm not gonna waste more bloodpoints on clown then the ones needed for the perks. I just want to burn through those cakes and focus on freddy.

I mean your available perks and add ons. Not the ones used just one game.

I'm just saying after a certain point, to me it's when I hit P3 and don't have to reset anymore, you start building up a good amount of high value offerings and then it really isn't as bad as it might have been in the example game above. That game was using browns instead of the potential greens or purples, or even iridescent ones you could bring. I'm sure you'll have less stress in due time.

she does her job fine, but she's not meant for the general public...

Ya I know that was my point, I just wanted to throw that in there. I know it kinda sucks to think "oh this character is out of my reach" or whatever because it seems daunting to learn, I just think it's kind of important to have a little variety like that to the killers.

  • Nurse isn't supposed to be noob friendly. She's the killer you pick up if you want to be a sweaty tryhard and give EZ4Ks when you master her. Also serves as a killer that takes a fair bit of practice in a game where not a lot of killers do. Not every killer is going to suit every player, that's the beauty of them coming out with new ones all the time. You even said yourself, and I quote, "If your PC blink is finely honed, bitches are going down quickly." So by what you're saying, to me it sounds like she does her job just fine.

  • You want to say killers have such high and cocky egos? As if you're not over-generalizing?

That's not "killers." It's just people.

  • Yes, lets not just have people that don't want to chat afterward just leave. Lets completely remove the feature entirely.

Dude they're camping.....why are you not pumping gens and at the exit gates by now? Do you need BHVR to pause hook progression so you can do what people have been saying do for years in countering camping? Do we need body blocking courses? Do we need unhook lessons? Do we need locker and hook tech lessons?

People say do bones to counter noED on a killer you know is gonna crutch that perk, IE damn near all M1 killers. Do they listen? No, and then they whine when their whole team gets dusted.

People say bring Kindred you can see the killer camping, then rush gens when you see them standing there. Do people listen? No, they just bumrush the hook anyway and proceed to whine on forums when they run headfirst into Bubbas chainsaw.....

People say, hey you can easily stop tunneling with DS, or BT.......Takes several years and people are just now catching on, yet people still whine about tunneling? BODY BLOCKING IS A THING!!! HELLOOOO~ 4 years into this games life and survivors still treat each other like trash...SMDH. Theres literally a thread I've been responding to right now where the OP gets dusted by perks and a team that can counter everything you're talking about. But side head....we're supposed to just keep making excuses for people both killer and survivor on how to stay bad? What sense does that make...you have literally every tool to complete any task you could desire in front of you if you'd just use yer brain.....

Like literally thats all this forum is some times is people whining and trying to blame other people or some perk or some mechanic instead of focusing on why they're bad in the first place and going "Oh well the killer or survivor is obviously rigged thats why I lost....like no dude....you lost because you weren't prepared. Every loss in this game comes down to that. You just weren't prepared, either by coming into the game as a killer vs a lobby with items you didn't prepare for by bringing the right killer or perks, or by survivors not being prepared on maps by knowing the layouts and the loops. But no BHVR is supposed to just cater to the excuses instead of create meaningful choices in the game....

For like the 5th time or something, it's not about efficiency toward "winning" the game.

You're so unbelievably dense, this isn't worth continuing with you.

  • Fact of the matter is, it takes two to tango. If nobody wants to play against your killer because it's unfun, that's kind of saying something. I'm not somebody to whine over tiny little things usually, but you have to be open to the idea of "hey, maybe they don't think it's fun playing against this because this isn't very fun to play against." That doesn't mean that it can't be fun to you as well, but if something is only fun for one side then it usually tends to be because it isn't very balanced.

  • That totally will prevent her from tunneling players off a hook. Right.

  • @KillScreen said:

Its just not my opinion. Other high rank killer players on twitch dislike his power.

I have 100 hours on survivor and reached rank 5. I have close to no experience with killer but i know a few perks to keep in mind, either by playing as survivor or watching people on twitch.

He's slow. His bottles are hard to hit on a chase. Usually i can hit a bottle when i can just walk and do a basic attack. Playing by the survivors rule book and hooking every single one of them 3 times when their rushing gens its hard... really hard!

I had games were i killed every survivor with him. But when they know how to loop properly it just really hard to be effective.

Dude, his bottles are not hard to hit in a chase. Maybe if you're in something specific like Lery's where there's a lot of walls and turns that survivors can go around to not get hit by a bottle. Most times though if you have a decent line of sight, as if you were playing Huntress trying to hit a hatchet, you can close the distance between you and the survivors significantly so long as you're used to the arc of your bottles. You can even pull off some neat tricks by throwing them over stuff to prep for where the survivor is about to be, if your aim is good enough.

I think for the most part it might be your perks (it's hard to tell since you aren't showing them) and current addons being relatively limited, since you seem new to the game. Trust me, it gets loads easier once you actually get your hands on some good stuff. Until then don't worry about it too much, just be proud of the things that you learn along the way and the victories you can get while learning.

  • The first few comments put it pretty well, and also the fact that it's kinda like a "hahaha look I'm over here" perk. Unless you're comboing it with some sort of aura denial perk, which are very few for survivors.

  • Hahahaaaa, that's what I was thinking. Swear he fought against that exact argument in his own posts about that.

  • Totally. Make them legendary skins.

  • You forgot BT, so you can guarantee those WGLF stacks.

  • I think at this point with all the FNaF threads that are flying around and the support, we could add anything. Hell, I'd be down for Count Chocula at this point.

When I play survivor against mike as soon as I know it's him I play totally different and keep an eye on him and never let him get close. Once I know it's Mike his stalk is useless on me but I'm a survivor main and yeah he's scary as sh!t to play against but easy to avoid.

What I'll say, because I'm not saying you're wrong exactly, is that he can exert a lot of pressure and force stalk out that way. Any time survivors are locked into an animation, you can stalk. Hopping windows, throwing pallets, etc. On top of that, the survivors only have so many resources to use before they run out, so once you get rolling, I find it's really hard to actually get away from Michael. At least if he has his T3 ability ready, and there's almost always one person who isn't paying attention and feeds Michael a bunch of free stalk.

I encourage you to play him more, he actually isn't that bad.
