  • I don't think gen jockey is even a bad term. Any time I hear it, it registers to me as "the main generator guy/girl." Usually in solo queue (since I don't have a lot of friends who like to play this game all the time) people are willing to go for the unhooks, so I usually take up the "gen jockey" role because if I don't, gens don't get done but the unhooks keep coming.

First of all that was just some rando, so I wouldn't be too offended. Second, as I said doing gens is always good for the survivor side (obviously sometimes saving is necessary). That's why I imagine most high rank players just "gen rush" and dive bomb the gens the second the killer isn't chasing them.

  • Isn't that the whole entire thing that corrupt intervention is supposed to do? Slow down the game early? Sounds like just letting the perk do its job, similar to just not doing generators while ruin is up. (Different situation but you get the point)

  • I was aware of the 1 per realm. Didn't know which ones were found, but I assumed this one already was one. I thought so :O

  • Even if Leatherface or Legion or whoever else isn't "scary" in the way that "you look at their face and it makes you jump" kind of way, they're still scary in the fact that they're menacing and deadly. Leatherface is literally wearing another person's skin as a mask. To say that's not scary you'd have to be a tough... ya know... Plus he's a classic horror icon so it would make sense for them to want him. It's not like some of the animatronics aren't menacing and deadly, but I'm just saying it's not good to use those characters as examples.

Anyway, that line of sight thing shouldn't even exist. It would make that power even harder to develop, but until they can get Ghostface's peekaboo minigame coded correctly, I couldn't trust them to make that vanishing thing work.

I'm personally not a fan of FNaF though. I think they could make the killer much better in terms of design and much more easily without having to get a license, if they just went ahead and made a similar but original character. As in the way I've heard people call Billy (before Leatherface came out) the game's "version" of Leatherface. They could just make their own robotic fiend.

It's not all about relying on it. It's about slowing the game down just a little bit to make a really stressful role less stressful. If the game is too fast, you can't really play "fair" and need to tunnel/camp/slug every game if you don't want to get stomped every time just to get flamed by 4 people after the game

Utter stomps on me are pretty rare. Plus I give similar effort to those I'm playing against. If they seem less coordinated I won't try as hard, and if they're really trying hard I know I can go harder. If others don't like it though, that's fine. It's not all about me.

  • Now that I'm not trying to reason with a schizophrenic...

I got to check out the PTB through a stream and I like the new Doc changes personally. He just seems like current one without the mode switching. It's weird that they added a delay to his ability to attack, so I can see a situation that isn't a 1v1 being a little tricky, but in the stream I watched they tested a person spamming to throw down a pellet vs. Doc's attack cooldown and the Doc still got to attack first, as the survivor was disabled for longer. So it doesn't seem like it's completely useless. That's the one thing I'm worried about, but beyond that it's just mostly getting used to the way his new addons work I imagine. I'm a fan of his new chase music and whatnot too, so overall I can say that I'm at least not disappointed in the rework. Also the map is quite good looking, I'm not sure about how balanced it is though.

The rift I'm a little concerned about because I haven't actually looked through every challenge but I'm hoping that the fragments you get will make up more levels than the last tomes, because even after those I was only about a little over tier 50. I'm a fan of the new cosmetics, and even the recolors are kinda nice, like the icy look on the Hag.

I can't say much on ruin because I didn't play any games on PTB myself but it seems just meh. I wish it had more synergy with other slowing perks, or that perhaps it wasn't a hex, but I don't think it's the end of the world personally because I didn't use it in the first place very much.

  • I agree that there's probably going to end up being some less desirable things like reskins or charms or whatever as filler content. Anyway I think the most important part is that it's still obtainable, so I'm just waiting to see the live product and see how many fragments we'd get from the tome this time around. Last time it was a little underwhelming.

considering those killers spent probably 90% of the match with 3 perks they are probably better than average if they are red ranks

    Touche

Not saying all players are bad if they use ruin every game. Just from what a majority of people sound like on the forums, they rely on it to "win". That doesn't sound amazing to me. Don't take it the wrong way though. As I said, ruin =/= bad killer automatically.

Of course they're complaining about it before PTB was even released, because they play the actual game enough to make educated guesses as to how something will change the game and why. The whys and hows have been expressed many times which is why it's not at all fair to start broadly generalizing anyone that's complaining as an angry 12 year old. In fact, you calling me stupid in your post while trying to claim I'm trying to "start something" just tells me you're projecting so hard it's disgusting.

I gave you two the benefit of the doubt and you threw a tantrum because I called you out on your insulting, degrading, and hyperbolic assertions. Of course you would posture and disengage after throwing further insults and claiming my posts are "spam." Why wouldn't you? You actually legitimately believe taking away the one method of averting gen rush without adjusting anything else is a good idea.

    "educated guesses"

Nuff said. I never said the ruin nerf was a "good" idea, (so just putting more words into other peoples mouths) and I never said you were stupid, only that it's the only alternative to you just being malicious and trying to put words into other peoples' mouths. There's no "retreat" here. Just gonna let you have fun being angry over made up things, buddy. :)

They very basic question of asking them if they played the PTB in the first place is an implicit accusation. You might as well be asking "lol have you even played the game?" News flash: Even without playing the PTB it's easy to see how this affects gameplay. What extra conclusion are you expecting after they've played it? Do you think they're going to radically change their minds when they find out they were right before they even played it? No, it was a loaded question from the start.

Furthermore, your reality check needs to come from realizing you just accused someone of trying to "start silly things" when the person who started the thread opened their first paragraph by painting anyone that disagrees with them as a child. Get a clue.

Not everybody plays the PTB. I even admittedly don't because I just am too lazy to sign up for it. That's the thing. Even if people do play it, there was literally people complaining about it before the PTB was even released. You're just reading too far into it. The point of that question is that there's plenty of people that are forming opinions without actually being privy to all the information. It's childish to do something like that. It's childish to put words into somebody's mouth, like saying they're implying somebody doesn't know how to play killer. Perhaps you're not trying to start something, but the only other option is that you're too stupid to realize that what you're accusing him of saying isn't what he actually said. That's why he calls out this group of individuals children. Because they act like it. And what extra conclusion could they make? People find new things out all the time, even on live servers. People just need to get their hands on the material to figure things out more completely. The OP also never once said that anybody who disagrees with their opinion is a child. Only those who are complaining without having actually knowing what the PTB is like.

You're just trying to inject your own thoughts and ideas into his original post. Sorry I don't live in your reality where everybody has to mean what you say they do. I'm done with this interaction, because I don't want to turn this into even more spam unrelated to the OP's question.

The OP calls everyone complaining "pathetic" and "12 year olds." I think you need a reality check.

And where in there does it say that they can't play killer? Give me the reality check, please.

You don't have to like him to listen to him or consider his thoughts. But since you've immediately jumped to telling my how angry I apparently am I get the impression you won't listen to anything anyone says at all. I guess I'm wasting my time trying to reason with you.

You came in here accusing somebody of telling people they don't know how to play killer, and that people would be offended, when nobody here has said anything of the sort. Then you continue on and accuse somebody else of not being willing to listen to criticism, when they made a post asking about PTB testing.

You really haven't contributed anything to the thread, dude. Don't waste your time trying to start silly things.

  • Not saying that there's no gen speed problems at all, but...

If you used ruin every game you probably aren't amazing lets be honest.

So it's about 53 hours over what? 3 month? It's basically 1-2 games per day or less if you just do 1 survivor and 1 killer game each per day since you get an xp bonus for the first game.

Any time somebody like you replies to something like that they always forget a few details.

-Not everybody can play every day, and so those extra games would be rolled back. Maybe even take extra time, since missing a daily bonus can't be made up.

-Queue times, especially considering when a match was a "waste of time"

-Matches not lasting as long as they could due to the inevitable DC or "toxic killer" that just goes around Mori'ing people off first hooks, so one might not get good XP out of a match.

-Some people might not even complete all the challenges because some are too tricky to get, resulting in more grind needed for the extra fragments.

Plus, that's the amount of games it would take him *from the point in the challenges which he stopped.* At that point in time he wouldn't have 3 months to do all the grinding he needed left. If the rift really did only take that amount of grind more people would be buying it and less complaining would happen.

  • There just isn't really a point to bringing any attitude like that here to the forums. That just means somebody is overly emotional, and that usually means nobody should take their opinion seriously. Same thing goes for a kid going around calling people a "r3t4rd" for accusing them of bringing up somebody's mother, when they clearly did.

  • I prefer Killer anyway, and I've been feeling like at least recently my killer queues are way longer than my survivor ones. My survivor ones could be pretty long. Usually about 5 minutes up to maybe 15. My killer ones though, feel like they take at least half an hour usually, sometimes closer to 15 or 20 minutes. With so little killers around since all them are going to rage quit, I'm conversely wondering if killer queue times could get shorter.

Also don't you not need ruin if you're gonna be playing Billy all the time?

  • Any perk that's annoying to play against, because everybody's throwing a fit right now.

  • I'm laughing how many people are saying "just make it not work with Surveillance." Not that I disagree, I think that's 100% a good point. Just... seems so obvious

Anyway, isn't the point of surveillance to know when survivors are on generators? I'm not saying it wouldn't be problematic possibly but, that's one of the less OP things I've heard of/seen, some actually being in-game on live servers.

  • Just here to say you guys are silly. There's no "correct" way to win really as of now. Game's just about having fun. So... If you don't have fun with the perk, don't use it. Or if there's a single perk you rely on, maybe you just need to become an overall stronger killer.

I seriously find myself having a hard time giving a damn about the end result of a game because it's usually the middle of the game that I'm enjoying. I've used ruin maybe 2 times ever and I still manage fine. And even when I don't get the kills I wanted as a killer, I get used to telling myself it's because I could play better, or bring a better killer, or better offerings and addons or whatever. IDK, I just think it's silly to get as upset as some people are getting when things get shaken up. It's like if you one trick a certain character in a video game like Overwatch and get upset when they get nerfed. You gotta expect something like that. Can't only rely on one thing for a crutch the entirety of playing a game...

@EverflowingRiver you did start saying toxic. "toxic survivor main" definitely sounds like calling somebody toxic to me

@PBL187 you did bring up his mom even if you didn't insult her directly. You're also verbally attacking him over a disagreement. Your age really shows in this post

You both don't know what you're saying and should both stop.

If you think you "just have to accept" Doctor's power and have no other options then you haven't learned how to play against him properly. He's no more uncounterable than Plague, or Pig, or Freddy, or Myers, or any other killer whose power forces you to do something other than your normal objectives if you don't want to be disadvantaged by it.

Fibijean is right in my opinion. Mostly. There isn't a ton you can do once you hit tier 2. The doc has various passive effects, or a crap ton if he has iridiscent king. Those things you can't do much about (other than snap out of it to lessen the effects and go back down to T2.) Beyond that though, it's like Plague. You'll be affected by the power but you still have plenty of choice to avoid the deadliest part of it. Just like Plague's corrupt purge being in the hands of the survivor, you can also choose to take away some of the Doc's effectiveness by not letting him abuse his shock active ability to screw you over at pallets. Beyond that he is just a M1 killer. That's where my opinion on the thread comes in.

Both characters feel like they have older kits, but the difference is how they've aged. Trapper still fills a unique role in my opinion. He's a M1 killer mostly, but he has the traps that have an effect that no other killer has, and it's a tool that is still useful to this day. I could say similar things about Doc, but he feels a lot more underwhelming. He can create illusionary pallets, but Freddy can do the same thing, and more effectively if you ask me (with how survivors can actually interact with the pallet and they don't disappear when you get close.) He can prevent some loops with shocks, but other killers also do that more effectively. Even Trapper sometimes. On top of that, if you bring range alterations right now it requires you to know the timings and ranges well, because it switches up what situations you can stop survivors from vaulting. Even then, if you get a pallet you can potentially stop somebody at, you still have to mindgame correctly and hope that the survivor isn't going to get to vault anyway because dedicated servers screw your shock timing, or that they don't just ignore your shock and continue running around the loop, putting more distance between you.

If you play League of Legends, you'll understand the comparison I make when I bring up Teemo or Anivia or Blitzcrank. All old champions, but have had relatively the same kits with little to no changes for years, because their kits just continue to fill their niche and don't need much help.

tl;dr: I think the Trapper's power has aged much better than Doc's. That's not considering the fun factor either.

  • Thinking back on it, it wouldn't be completely useless (as ruin is still a hex and can be destroyed, so it would function as a backup slowdown) but it still wouldn't work in tandem.

  • To me, FNaF just doesn't fit the theme that much. Not that the characters aren't scary or anything, but most killers I see come from iconic horror movies, or are just original and made up by the devs. I can't quite put my finger on it, but to me it gives me a similar feeling to the thought of having a creepypasta like Slenderman or Jeff the Killer join the game. Like it's plausible maybe, but something just doesn't seem right about it. A slasher like Freddy or Leatherface from the movies seems like they just fit the game well.

I can get down with the idea of a cyborg, animatronic, or some other kind of robotic killer. I don't think it would take the scare out of the game either. I personally think evil robots are scary, with how deadly a metal creature could be. Like terminators. It just seems like trying to force the FNaF lore in would make it more difficult to put in the game. Plus licensing deals probably take some work.

Plus I agree, I don't think people need to understand the lore or whatever to be interested in the killer/chapter/paragraph. I don't think I've ever seen Halloween but I still know Michael and he still has a unique playstyle that I can value in the game, so I bought it. Same thing with Demogorgon. Never watched Stranger Things before seeing the trailer, but I didn't have to to know that the giant crawling naked baby monster looked cool and had a terrifying scream.

  • One concern I've thought about is if the gens automatically regress, as if you kicked them, I'd hope it doesn't make kicking perks like pop or overcharge (or even something like brutal strength for that matter) useless. If they regress and can't be kicked, those other two perks aren't going to be useful with ruin. The perks would still work without ruin, but I just bring that up because I'm aware that some people try to use gen slow/regression as a build, and I've seen several builds that would combine both ruin and another slowing perk like pop or even dying light.

Hmm. I had two people use DS but yeah, make excuses about why you need Ruin. Please. DS doesn’t aid gens.

Even if your evidence is anecdotal I don't see what people are confused about regarding your point.

Of course he doesn't have a big study but come on guys, his point is clear: that ruin isn't 100% necessary and even against red rank players it's not necessary.

I'm not personally going to try and argue with somebody who can't understand a simple point like that, but all I have to say about this topic is that every game is different. Some games the survivors will have many safe pallet setups and whatnot, and some games they might get a crap map.

  • I believe that words for the most part only have the power that you give them. Yeah, personal attacks are usually pretty unnecessary and dumb though.

I'm mostly just concerned with people saying that because of this change they're gonna revolt or whatever. Not like I'm a stranger to these kinds of people since I play DbD. Either way though it's annoying to think about how if I randomly decide I want to play a round of survivor in the near future that I might get to go against somebody just taking their angers out on undeserving victims like a hormonal teenager.

It's all over a change that just got announced so I haven't even gotten to think about how big of an impact this change will make, and I doubt many others have thought it through very well yet either.

Don't care, the crybaby survivors are the reason ruin is getting nerfed in the first place. I'm going to give them something to cry about, and I hope every other killer does the same. BHVR caused this, not me.

    Also this

"I'm going to give them something to cry about"

    "BHVR caused this, not me."

    You ok there?

  • I'm one here. To be fair I don't play enough to constantly be rank 1 or anything but I've been red ranks a fair amount of time and I still didn't need it. I think in the year and few months I've had the game, I've used it 2 times. Just to try it out.

  • BHVR literally will not care about you wasting your bloodpoints on this. It's already a regular thing for killers to run all these things, if not in the same game. If you want to waste your stash to send yourself on a fool's errand go ahead. It's not going to have the effect you desire lmao
