I can't believe people are actually complaining about survivors being able to hide.
Wait, never mind. I can believe it.

I think what bothers me the most ist that the Aura Reading ist tied to gens a lot, and when you got teammates who don't help a lot with Gens, you're getting targeted even more than usually. But those are all good Tips, thank u
I'll agree the diversity in aura reading perks is a little bit bland. And you're welcome. Nothing you can do about the survivors not doing gens unfortunately, it's just something that comes with trolls and unskilled/new players :L

seems to of been an "issue" since the death slinger came our or wha?
I respect your opinion that you don't think she should be nerfed, because that's not even my point. I just think it at least makes sense that if the hatchet doesn't connect, that it shouldn't do damage. It shouldn't be something to talk against the devs about because it's a sensible change if you ask me.
But I don't spend all day on the forums so if people have been spamming that maybe I just missed it. My point was just, this is a hitbox related change and you're posting about it... And you asked why everybody is moaning about hitboxes...

Every killer can M1 a survivor and than switch targets. I just don't see benefits of landing a shot in the open and pulling a survivor to apply deep wound. Every killer can hit a survivor out in the open. Deep wound appears on Borrow time and purple med kit add-on and these mechanics help the survivor, not hinder it. This is just my opinion, but I seriously think that if deathslinger hits you harpoon, you should get exposed during harpoon effect, but if you break free, the survivor should get rewarded by not getting injured for properly struggling out and counter-playing his power. I could just be blind but I just don't see any benefits and just see drawback, drawback, drawbacks.
The pressure of having somebody one hit away from being downed, having somebody waste time by mending, just simply pressuring somebody so they aren't on a gen, are all things that are rewards. The big thing that determines DbD games that I've heard over and over is time. And it's stacked against the killer. So if you're hitting one survivor, moving on to another, hitting them, you're pulling multiple survivors away from gens, and therefore slowing the game down and creating more pressure for you to kill the survivors. It's just inching you closer to your goal while doing the opposite to the survivors.
I don't really know a lot of better ways to put it. Simplest way I can say it is, any way you can get a survivor to stop working on a generator is good. Even if they end up running really far, mending, and you don't get the down *right then.*

@Mushwin said:
I don't see why? why are people moaning about hitboxes? i don't get it she was one of the weakest killers
Are you not moaning about hitboxes?
My opinion: if the hatchet doesn't make contact, it shouldn't damage. Therefore, a survivor crouched down and you throwing a hatchet over their head, and still connecting a hit, does not equal "good aim." I've done it and I don't even play Huntress. Or maybe I just got lucky/had coincidentally good aim those times.
-
At the end of the day you honestly don't have to care what some rando has to say about the way you play. Or even tolerate them -- you could block them and be done. At least I assume you can on the platform you're messaging on.
-
They also did add in that aura reading prevention perk from Zarina with this patch. On top of that you can use distortion to try to guess which perks they have, or maybe even sole survivor to try to prevent aura reading on you. On top of what the other guy said about lockers. Or hiding behind gens for BBQ. I can think of several ways aura perks can get screwed.
-
Shouldn't it not appear as much now if it's green? Plus, again, optional. You don't gotta take it. Especially after you P3 and get all the perks on a character, you only need to pick specifically what you want.

Not if it waste your own time. you need shoot, reeling, hit, reload your gun. by that time, the survivor can literally just hold forward and they'll be like half map away and remember, your 110%. It is going to take a long time for you catch up before you can line up next shot. Of course it isn't reward. what kind of question is that. Legion's power works because he has very little opportunity cost for injuring multiple survivors; Legion power is more about information than anything else. I don't mention legion anywhere in my previous post. It is like.... imagine billy went from 115% to 110% and his chainsaw could only apply deep wound and in order to instant down someone, you need to travel 15 meters with iridescent add-on chainsaw before it instants downs and than saying, oh but billy power can down injured survivors. Its perfectly fine. /sarcasm
Nobody said you must chase the same survivor after you shoot them. Injuring a survivor and letting them run away while you chase a different survivor sometimes is more beneficial than just taking down one survivor. Then you're pressuring 2 survivors off gens.
I mean, if the survivors are wasting time doing thing OTHER than gens and the game is taking longer, then it's a reward. End of discussion. Whether it's top tier or not is a different discussion, but saying that there's literally no reward for hitting your shots is just asinine.

I don't think anyone is complaining not being able land hooks. If you land hooks in overwatch, it is instant kill 1 shot. in DBD, if you land hooks, all you get is deep wound+sprint burst for the survivor. Deathslinger isn't bad because people can't land hooks, deathslinger is bad because landing hooks gives you no reward. It is sad that really cool killer is just going collect dust after 1 week when players figure out that he has very slow/bad 1vs1 potencial, no map presence and no capacity to snowball or stealth compared other killers.
So getting to inflict deep wounds and waste somebody's time isn't a reward? Or getting a down on an injured survivor? You make it sound like Legion, where he can't just 1-and-2 stab somebody and down them just like that with his power. With Deathslinger, his power actually can down a survivor that's injured.

Release Hag, and not even close.
EDIT: For those of you who may not have been around; She set her traps about twice as slow, her default teleport range was half as short as it is now, and most importantly she SELF-STUNNED herself every time she teleported. It was awful.
On the bright side, she had what was effectively a built-in Mad Grit due to a bug.
This. I've only been around since Clown had already came out, but I've seen old Hag gameplay and holy ######### her traps were terrible.
I think people just like to focus things that are in front of them, and they end up forgetting about other things that might have been worse.
-
I thought the same thing. Is it even possible to maintain rank 1 while escaping 1 in 20 games? I forgot exactly how the pip math works for DbD.
-
I'm not here to try to say it's an easy game to pick up...
Just here to add, you probably wouldn't be saying the same thing if you played Last Year. The rounds in that game could last about a minute or so, if the students (survivors) didn't know what they were doing. At least before a recent patch they did, but even then it's still pretty harsh, just not as harsh as before with rounds potentially only lasting like a minute.
-
I usually like to share the wealth too but I'm starting to consider avoiding them in bloodwebs because it's almost like something that, when I put it on, somehow magically makes all other players in the game want my game to end as quickly as possible -- whether that be the killer camping/tunneling hardcore when I'm survivor, or team mates killing themselves, or survivors killing themselves/DCing early when I'm playing killer. You should probably just do the same and stop bringing them since nobody respects them enough.
-
I haven't had it happen to me a lot but I can't say the game never gets weird for some reason.
I've posted this story in another comment but I'll just say again because it's short: I was just waiting on the hook to be saved, first hook too, on a call with my one premade friend, and this randomer Quentin comes up and saves me off the hook, but as my feet are touching the ground, I get sent to the scoreboard (like the game finished) and when I checked, I noticed Quentin got taken out of the game too. My friend was even asking what happened, and if we disconnected.
Weirdest DbD story I've had yet.
-
I'll only ever say you're a jerk for leaving early in a situation such as: everyone's alive, and healthy, killer doesn't have NOED, if you have BT...
But of course, if you want your BP and it's seeming risky then I wouldn't consider it a scummy move.
-
All I'm going to say is I had no idea any killer could throw a survivor.
-
I won't exactly vouch for either side, but what I will say is I've already seen maneuvers where the Deathslinger will harpoon somebody and even if the survivor already dropped a pallet at a loop, they were still able to be immobilized/dragged around the side of the loop to still secure a hit. I don't think he's exactly top tier or anything, but I just think it's a little too early to say something like this. People will figure out exactly how good he is at which loops in just a little time, and then we'll have a lot more concrete evidence to look at and decide.
My one problem is that certain shots that were shot in videos I watched looked like they flew through a survivor. Maybe it's a server problem, but if that didn't happen then I could imagine myself playing this killer even at 110% speed.
-
Yes, because I don't see the point of not doing it if I have the shards.
-
The point about people swatting isn't false, but... It's not on BHVR. I have this viewpoint on a lot of things like this: it's just human nature. People complain about anything, and people just having better attitudes about things would solve the problem, but that's asking too much. People would rather pin the blame and cry a river than actually think sometimes.
Unfortunately, it's just a people problem. People will do stupid terrible things like that, and the responsibility is on the individual who does it. Not the introduction of a DC penalty system.
-
Does this bug only apply to the first lunge? I've had a game or two, Hag specifically if I remember, where I would try lunging at this Nea but the lunge would just stop and swipe at air instead even if I didn't let go of the button. And this wasn't after a teleport either, this was just regular running at somebody and striking.
-
Hey, toxicity is never the answer in a situation like this...
But I won't say that it isn't hilarious and gratifying. I've had almost the exact same happen to me (minus the SWF.)
-
Doc, almost purely because of the Doc himself. Not his abilities or anything.
-
Using perks that aren't meta has an inherent advantage in that it isn't what's expected. On top of that, I like to keep things fresh and that's part of what keeps me playing. Plus some of those perks, as other people said, are either too situational for me to want to use them (mostly Unbreakable) or they're one time use/end game, and I like perks that benefit me over time like Resilience or Autodidact or whatever.
-
I don't get on the forums much because I joined somewhat recently but when I do see the mods they're just explaining things to people that they've said several times before, likely (and in a more informative/less inflammatory way than some people on these forums.) I don't think I could have the patience to do that kind of thing in my free time so, honestly props to them for that stuff.
-
I know people run some crazy setups sometimes but realistically I'd say that's not a majority of players. That being said, I wish people didn't have the mentality that if they don't like a certain thing, that means they dodge. It just makes me a little sad because I don't want to bring in like a brown toolbox or something, or a broken key just to try out some of the addon combos, and have the killer think I'm bringing in some OP toolbox or purple key to try to get EZPZ wins or something.
-
I'm thankful that in the system the first few punishments are relatively low because of this exact type of thing. I've only ever disconnected twice ever, but there's been some weird times where I honestly didn't mean to DC (like one time a Quentin unhooked me, and when my feet touched the ground it sent both Quentin and I to the disconnect/score screen.)
Hopefully the system treats you well. I'm not sure about how I feel about it.
-
I'm just gonna put my vote in for people's attitudes.
Even if it's not directly a game feature, I feel like if the community just had a better attitude (which is already asking a lot) then it would be a lot more clear to the devs what to do. It wouldn't seem as much like people just complain just to complain, and maybe more complaints would be taken seriously.

I actually don't run either OoO or SS so I don't have a lot of personal experience on both, so warning: this might be a bit uninformed.
I don't run either perk myself but I heard it mentioned in a video and I just started rolling an idea around in my head about combining the two perks, so it would be something like:
-Aura reading still exists, like OoO
-Aura reading range now scales off sacrificed team mates, the same way SS does
-Maybe keep the aura reading prevention on the person running the perk, the way SS blocks the aura readings
If they did something like this it would remove the "right off the bat" benefit and significantly hinder the amount of information that a SWF would get, especially early game for something like a Trapper, where the OoO could call out where traps are being placed. I just figured if the two perks were just merged to where OoO only started working as team mates dropped, like SS, it would eliminate a lot of that SWF annoyance, but the perk would still retain some of its effectiveness as to not be completely useless.
Sorry if it's a half-baked idea. I didn't think a lot of details through but hey, I thought I'd drop the idea. Maybe it'll spark a better idea in somebody else's mind.

I guess I wasn't paying attention to my bleed out timer, I was just the last survivor and the killer kept starting a mori and canceling over and over like 20 or 30 times. So I just left I assumed every time they started the mori it canceled the bleed out. And I had things to do other than wait for a killer to actually kill me so I could move on to another game, with the limited time I did have.
I've literally only ever disconnected twice and this exact same situation was one of the two.
-
I think the people trying to act like it's not good enough unless it's a 4k should just step back for a sec and think...
Maybe if you're not going to be using the strongest things, you're going to be at a little disadvantage? You don't bring a knife to a gunfight, simple. Maybe that's not the way things should be.
But forever now in gaming that's how it's been. You want to be good, you pick the good stuff, and if you decide to opt out then you're going to have to put in extra effort to make up for that power.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Dude that says so much with such little text, I like it LOL
I just don't get how people can say Otz played super optimally, or trying to defend his build, which I'll remind everyone is: Zanshin Tactics, BBQ, Discordance, Bitter Murmur. This isn't exactly the worst build, but there's a reason you don't see these perks a ton with maybe BBQ being the exception, but that's for BP. Otz also crashed into several things with his chainsaw which gave up a decent chunk of his time when combining all the chainsaw stuns. Even with all that he still managed the 3, and almost 4k.
I'm just not seeing what the point of discussion is even supposed to be here. Otz had what seemed to be "average" for what people on the forums seem to think (with the toolboxes and meta perks and whatnot). Not average for Otz though. And he still did fine. What's being proven by referencing this video again?
-
I think a couple different factors that might answer your question are:
- It just blatantly has a good effect, and is simply better than a decent amount of other perks. Some I have in mind here are Iron Maiden (for killers other than Huntress mostly,) Predator, Monstrous Shrine and whatnot.
- It's a default perk that everybody starts off with the potential of unlocking, which is more of a guarantee for a newbie who doesn't have any teachables.
That might be why you see killers using the perk. I don't think it means somebody is automatically bad if they choose to use it either. That's just closed-minded to say. People definitely can use it as a crutch, just the same way Ruin could be used as a crutch by bad killers or to greater effect by a good killer. I just don't think it's only a perk for the "garbage killers." Although you wouldn't want to run it on some better ones, like Hillbilly.
-
I personally like it just because even if it's slow you still get great skill check opportunities which rewards good timing. Also the fact that sometimes it can take more time running around trying to find a team mate to heal you if you don't have it, and it doesn't take up said team mate's time as the person that needs healing is able to do it themselves. I don't think it's 100% the best healing choice but it's probably the simplest and most easily accessible/reliable one.

I just don't even stay for after game chat unless I smell salt coming and I want some.
As to how I can stand it when I do get crap from people... It just helps me to think about how pissed off they're getting over a match that probably lasted like 10 minutes, and that usually brings me enough enjoyment to cancel out whatever displeasure their words would bring.
And don't get me wrong, it's not because I play toxic. I'll intentionally do stupid things fairly often because I don't care about "winning" too much, so I don't feel extremely pressured to finish any one person off. So you can imagine the type of special sensitive person that would get mad against me. That's the enjoyment factor.

Yeah I thought the question was simple enough, but there's tons of people here talking about what they would want.
You see plenty from the FNaF crowd coming to try to discuss the lore and whatnot, and go off topic, rather than just answer the question asked. There's a reason why I answered "FNaF" to the post the way I did, and this is part of it.

No the trap clipping is purposely left in, in many places, I’ve seen several mods and devs confirm it as well as players who also read confirmations of it and discussed it.
And once again, hit boxes are broken as hell so Dead Hard is needed to counter that, and since hit boxes will never be fixed, Dead Hard will stay as it is.
Also there is no skill of timing since lunges literally are the distance of a Dead Hard and some Killers like Freddy and T3 Myers have an even bigger lunge.
Dead Hard is also a perk that can only be used while injured, is an exhaustion perk, and is useless against instadowns. Even if this game’s many flaws were fixed Dead Hard should still stay as it is. Most perks in this game don’t rely on skill anyway.
Ok well I'll have to trust you on that then. One thing I will say though, I don't see the connection between DH and dedicated servers. If anything I would think DH wouldn't be used as much with dedicated servers, because the timing gets messed up.
-
TL;DR: Because it's boring
I mean if you get bored when it's too easy and you feel like you don't have fun when the survivors are competent, is there a Goldilocks "just right" situation for you? I'm just amazed you have 3.2k killer main hours when almost every match boils down to those two situations..
-
Also, stealing and killing are bad. And the sky is blue.
-
@Darth_Cader said:
There are several things that don’t make sense yet are kept in the game. Like the fact certain parts of maps can make bear traps clip into the terrain and thus make them invisible, yet this “feature” is purposely kept in the game despite the fact that it’s not logical and is unfair.
Also this is a supernatural horror game with aura readings and stuff. Dead Hard is just David’s quick movements amplified by the Realm’s supernatural existence which gives him immunity in the moment because supernatural.
Also also don’t go around saying that dodging through bear traps extends a chase because it only barely does in most situations as now you can usually only run around where the pallet is. On the chance that you actually have another pallet to get to, that pallet usually ALSO has a trap in it.
Also also ALSO this game is so screwed due to broken hit boxes and latency that Dead Hard needs to be in the game to be able to counter that even though it barely even works with the aforementioned latency.
I'm almost sure it's not "purposely" kept in. I've heard several times that there existed older spots that used to happen in, and they got patched out. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't make sense why they'd remove some and keep some "purposely" like that.
Anyway about the DH thing, yeah I somewhat feel it shouldn't be a thing. I get the whole point of the perk is to function like a brief immunity, but it does kind of take out the skill and timing when all a person needs to do is just know where a trap is and just blast completely through it. I don't personally have a ton of problems with that happening but I agree it at least doesn't really seem like a thing that should happen. Kind of just removes the usefulness of putting down the trap, and the skill of using DH.

Just playing yesterday as Clown this happened to me. No way in my right mind would I have missed the SLOWED survivor right in front of me. Even if I don't let go of my click, it still swipes.
And just to confirm, this is on PC as well. I'm a PC player.
-
IDK if what you're talking about is completely different from what I'm about to say, but some people (including myself when I play survivor) want to just let the killer have a free hit before the game ends/the survivor escapes, almost like one last farewell kiss. I don't find that very toxic, just trying to give people a little boost in bloodpoints.
Plus the end game collapse exists now so worst case scenario if you for some reason want the game to end but don't feel like chasing the survivors out the gate, you could just let the 2 minutes pass by.

If you want to justify this idea, why not 8% instead of 24% i would have let it slide, to request 24% and using his death as a plea is shallow and so are you for backing it up, that's all i have to say about the matter. You have a right to your opinion and so do i, don't mind me for saying my piece. Think about the issue here for a second and try to see why i would react that way with the current state of the game
Yet another attempt to project thoughts. Have fun doing that by yourself, don't really have the care to deal with somebody so manipulative.
And the reason 24 is the number brought up is because it's Kobe's number.
