  • It's not like the game could never affect DbD, but it seems like a lot of game's I've been on forums for, there's always a post about "X new game is coming out, is it going to kill this game's community?" and the answer is almost always no, because the games are usually completely different types of games.

  • It's crazy to me people saying stuff like "people will stalk you if you kill the wrong person" or whatever, as if that's a DbD exclusive problem.

    Other games get that too.

That's why I rarely bring in BPS and settle instead for escape cakes. I hate giving people free BP's only to have them screw me over like that.

I mean I just think of it as an escape cake, or at least I try to, just a slightly more expensive one. The thing is it literally feels like it's cursed when I bring it. I can't remember the last time I brought a BPS and didn't have somebody tunnel or camp me or had people disconnect or kill themselves on hook. I just don't get what it is about BPS that makes the games go like that.

Maybe they're doing it for longer than 24 hours to be more inclusive of their worldwide playerbase (it's been April 1st in Australia and East Asia for quite a while now). Or maybe they're doing it the day before so that they can then take it down and say "haha April Fools" on the day itself.

I'm glad if it's to be inclusive, just also seems weird to me that I'm getting told "April Fools" a bunch on the forums and it's not that day yet to me :P

completely agree. its not that big of a deal yes it sucks but at the end of the day you mad someone so mad that they are willing to lose out of pips just to make sure you die.

Yeah this is how I feel. I don't get mad that I get camped. It's more I get confused why somebody would even do something like that, as I don't go out of my way to play toxic. And kind of irritated that I have to wait in another queue for what's essentially no reason. That last part about the queue is probably the most frustrating thing about it.

  • 99% sure the font is only for April Fools. Weird to me that they're doing it the day before though. Same with the shrine.

  • I think it's just comical that people still think ranks make a huge difference.

Like yeah sure there might be some difference between the average rank 15 and rank 1 obviously, but there's plenty of good players that don't play enough to maintain rank. And there's plenty of bad players that just get easy ranks from doing scummy things or whatever.

You just gotta play well enough. I just had a game earlier, that I screenshotted even, where I went Clown with a trash build, went against 2 rank 1's and 2 rank 2's and still hit merciless on them I believe. Even if it wasn't merciless and my memory is wrong there, I still got the 4k. It just goes to show that it really depends on what happens during the match itself. Rank isn't an excuse all the time for complaining, although I will admit recently it has been looking weird.

  • I don't see what the point of struggle even is.

  • I think it's funny how there's still people that swear that the DC penalty is too long and needs to be tuned down/removed.

I hear you. I experience it too.

Tbh i don't think the person camping gives to shits about either of those.

Yeah or probably anything else. That's my point.

  • It's the same with every killer. Dead Hard is just buggy in general since dedicated servers were introduced. You can literally be exhausted from using it and still get hit.

  • As far as I'm concerned nobody's trapped in my game if I want to farm. I might think they're stupid or just don't care about the points if they just pass up a free chance to pallet stun the killer 10 times or something, but if they want to finish gens and then leave the game by themselves, nobody is stopping them.

Get banned over it? Please. If people got banned for most things others didn't like, we wouldn't have mutiplayer games.

I hope my point about banning not stopping people didn't fly right over anybody's head...

  • Some people would get banned over this BS and it still wouldn't be a harsh enough punishment for them to learn.

  • It is punished. They lose out on bloodpoints and pips.

The situation is: i payed for the Clown with my real money, why they sell a character if it is not viable at any ranks at any maps against any survivors? In this case he should be freely given as a meme character to everyone.

If viability is your only factor for having fun, then you should have looked into what killers are top tier and played those. I don't see why they should give him away for free.

And if you want to see how to merciless, I have a game screenshotted where I 4k'd in almost the same situation you're saying. I'm currently purple rank killer (I think I was 8 in that game) and all the survivors were 1 and 2.

Personally I think he can be fun.

  • You're lucky you get to even attempt to take them off. Pigs I go against tend to think that putting a helmet on somebody means they have to tunnel them. And by them I mean me.

  • What's great is that it's still 3/31 in some places.

  • I usually feel like most of the time they just don't see them. They're just imprints in the ground rather than actual physical things like trapper's traps.

I will say though, it's one of the most enraging things when you crouch all the way up to a hook, unhook somebody, and then they immediately start sprinting and set off 3 traps all around the area.

Yeah I would care about people dcing but they'll do it for literally any reason. Too many times I've gotten the first down of the match as killer and they immediately dc.

The funniest part was, after all the gens I did, the survivor rescues I made, and the long chase before I was caught, I almost DOUBLE-PIPPED! lol

You just always have to expect it.

I just announced in chat and had multiple people confirm they saw, that I was bringing BPS into a game. One of my team mates leads the killer to me, at the start of the game, for my first hook in the corner of the map. Then two of them come over at once and the *only one* without BT unhooked me, with the killer right on her tail. I then get tunneled and picked back up for the same hook, twice in a row. Then my team does another save with the killer not far away, who of course comes right on back and hits me right back down on the ground. I then lie there trying to recover with my team mates insisting on swarming me like flies trying to heal me as I just got knocked back down, instead of trying to get the killer away from me. I finally reached about half my bleedout bar before he finally picked me up for a 3rd time, and ended my game.

I got 3k BP for bringing a bloody party streamer.

  • After you said "play around it" I couldn't continue reading.

With how fast games go, "playing around it" isn't an option if too many survivors are running it.

I don't mean that. On console hair is basically transparent.

I know, I guess what I'm saying is that I wish it was fixed on my platform too.

  • Hair isn't a console exclusive problem. I play PC and I've seen hair flip out many a time while playing.

  • TBH I think it's completely appropriate to use moris and stuff for challenges, and key for hatch challenges for survivor. Nobody wants to spend like 30 games just trying to get the perfect setup to complete a challenge, ya know? The way I try to do my challenges is the easiest/most efficient method just so I can start getting back to playing normally.

I'm not saying that having challenges for killing people by your own hands doesn't encourage mori use, but if I'm talking from personal experience, I don't know if I've ever used a mori unless it's been for a tome challenge or daily ritual, and if it makes it easy so you don't have to spend forever on one challenge, I don't see the huge problem with that part specifically about just people using moris.

I thought about it but I make the worst killer only because I tend to let people go. I feel bad thinking I am ruining peoples experience or killing to fast. I also have the worst luck. I either get such horrible survivors that it is way to easy or such high rank survivors that I see gens pop and maybe see 2 survivors the whole game. lol

I still might give it a try though. =) Thank you.

I'm very much like you and you just can't let it bug you if you go easier and then they BM. That's how they are. Otherwise, as long as you have fun, who cares? :P

  • Maybe I'm just a noob, but I don't think he should change. At least in any major way. Maybe very very small things, like quality of life or whatever.

  • Well, it IS lopsided. As a solo player. Because those are people who are playing either killer or solo survivor, and either going against pro teams as killer or dealing with absolute trolling morons when playing as survivor. That's at least how it ends up in my games.

  • If what you were saying were true for everybody (new players not seeing it as an anti-tunnel perk, 1K+ hours calling you a tunneler) then I would say it might be just because the new players don't have any reference to base it off of. They see a perk in a game they like, they know what it does, and they use it for what it's good for to them. People make up their own strategies that work for them.

Anyway, emphasis on that one part: they call it like it is. I wouldn't even call it an anti-tunnel perk. It's much more multi-purpose than that and there's plenty of video evidence to show that.

i did use slow down builds with legion before and it wasn't working good enough to me, i sometimes stop people from doing more than 1 gen in rank 1 with this build, which wasn't the case with the slow down ones.

Then would it not be better to instead use a different perk that synergizes better with Pop? Some that I've thought might work are possibly Thrilling Tremors or Discordance for knowing which gen to run to and kick, or possibly the typical Thanatophobia to solidify the regression from Pop. But again I don't play Legion so maybe these aren't considered here for a certain reason.

  • @notsonew said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1183541#Comment_1183541

because he is a M1 killer and since his ability is meant ot injure survivors you'll mostly always give a regular hit to down them so it will trigger surge and so regress the gen(s)

I don't have a lot of experience with Surge either, so could you tell me if it works like Ruin where it's like the gen's been kicked? Because it would still mess with Pop. Otherwise, I understand better now.

  • I haven't picked up Legion yet. I have to get Plague, Legion, and Deathslinger. (Any recommendations would be cool BTW, I was slightly leaning toward Plague)

I just came to comment and ask, why Surge? If I'm going to be playing Legion I might as well know. I ask because from what I hear, he's slightly similar to Wraith in the way that he's good at getting a first hit, but struggles to finish the job. So wouldn't you be better off using something that doesn't involve downing a survivor with M1? Genuine questions, since I only know things from what I've heard in videos from Otz or whoever.

  • You give an inch, they take a mile. That's why you don't play nice because you're just gonna get crapped on by them in the chat anyway.

I still play nice sometimes anyway but only if I dedicate the game to being a "not that serious" one. Then the survivors can make fun of me all they want if they think I'm bad, and just look dumb af in the process. But if you try being a little nice when you're trying to have a serious game, that's a surefire way to get them to act like that.

  • No, simply because multiple survivors running it can literally allow them to bully the killer, by giving them a "pick your poison" situation.

  • It should also deactivate if you crouch more than twice in quick succession, so survivors can't be cocky and teabag with it :)

But also because I'm all ears is s criminally under rated perk...

I hope the sarcasm didn't go unnoticed. I don't want to sound like a Ghostface hater lol

  • If it's a designed feature by the dev, is it really an exploit?

  • Yeah it's like, why would you ever buy Ghostface? There's no point! Oh right, maybe because you want to play as Ghostface...

  • I'd say the problem is more that there's a random disconnect happening like that, not that there's a punishment system for DCs. The punishment system should be there. The random kick from your game shouldn't.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you deserved a time-out for being kicked. I've experienced weird bugs pretty recently myself like this, but I just still see people to this day blatantly rage quitting, no doubt it's an intentional DC when they do it. Like after they get picked up and whatnot. So long as I continue to see things like that, I'll have to say that the DC penalty should remain.

  • I've noticed from the scoreboard that two players didnt even get to get 10k points, meaning they probably got out of the game quickly. Often times that's why people depip from survivors just killing themselves on hook and whatnot: there's not that much interaction between the killer and survivor. That's why you don't pip.

That's a community perception issue, and one that haunts true Pig players, like myself.

Funny thing is that the exact opposite is better. I actively IGNORE trapped players, because they aren't pressuring me.

I just simply think she needs to be looked at to actively discourage that kind of play because her character just makes it way too easy. I agree with what you said here actually, that it's best to do the opposite of focusing somebody with a trap but a lot of Pigs I run into out of the few that I see end up doing it. It's starting to feel like a killer people pick specifically to play toxic (like people who play Basement Bubba) at least to me in my personal experiences with my games.

At the same time though, I also think she needs to be looked at because she just hasn't been the same ever since EGC came into existence.

  • That's surprisingly close to how I would rank. Only one I'm not sure about out of those is Deathslinger because I still don't feel comfortable enough giving him a hard ranking with how new he is.

    /facepalm.

    Exact quote from LALYTHIA

"I literally live this terrible game play every day. "

I was responding to that, exact statement which was so ridiculously melodramatic and nonsensical that the only rationale advice I could give someone who says something that detached from reality is "get a life".

    Does it make sense now?

No. Because as you said before "Also it might help you to try this thing called current events context there herp a derp, it's not like I can go to work right now thanks to our newest gift from across the ocean."

You are wasting your time just as much right now as what you're criticizing by sitting here and typing about pointless things.

It's either not fine because they need to get a life or it's fine because there isn't much else to do right now. Either way the same would apply to you. Because you are also wasting time. And when I hear "get a life" over a game, it's typically because somebody plays too much.

I don't think I can make you understand so I'll just cut this short, as I don't want to feed into spamming a thread with things that aren't related to it. Point is, just have some tact dude.

I wasn't the one claiming I was "living" a video game. Maybe check what I was responding to next time.

Also it might help you to try this thing called current events context there herp a derp, it's not like I can go to work right now thanks to our newest gift from across the ocean. "Wasting time" is about all I can do right now, not a whole lot else to do at the moment at 4:15 in the morning anyway, least of which for a guy who normally works third shift.

I never claimed that you claimed you were "living" a video game. Maybe check the contents of my comment next time.

Also if there's not much to do right now other than wasting time, then it also just makes what you said before to the other person about "getting a life" seem even more asinine. I think my point is pretty clear.

Having fun "living" this terrible game, which if true is really, really sad.

You're sitting here wasting time typing on a forum after telling somebody to get a life. Just saying.

    @Nikkiwhat said:

Getting through these Survivor Challenges is agonizing when so many games end up with terrible teammates and camping Killers.... Ran a Killer for 2 whole Gens, get hooked...fine, that's a fair trade... But then two people run to unhook me when the Killer is right there. He sits right on top of me, chases away the Survivors who made zero attempts for an unhook...and immediately sits back at me...while everyone just leaves me to die.

It's just beyond agonizing that matchmaking has me paired up with Grey Ranks, when I'm in Purple Rank, that barely know how to play. With Killers that never leave the Hook and it's "Well, they can do that". Im tired of Camping Killers....that get rewarded for it at my expense, while my 15+ min queue time gets wasted so early on and I get zero chance to progress any of my challenges.

I've been dealing with the exact same stuff today, since I've been grinding out survivor challenges and I play almost exclusively solo. Had a Claudette come over to me, injured, while I was slugged (and hiding) at 95% recovery, tap me barely enough to give me 1-2% more, and then keep running with a Legion right on her tail. Obviously she goes down, and lucky for me, she had found time to ruin my hiding spot and get me hooked.

So yea, having bad team mates and getting overly focused by the killer is pretty rough. The only thing I can really say is that if you're lower rank it gets really easy to pip, as long as you do very minimal things, like work a little on a generator, unhook maybe 1 or 2 people, and get chased a little by the killer. At that point, if you can manage to pip little by little you'll at least have to suffer through nooby team mates slightly less. There still are bad team mates at higher ranks but it's not practically everyone at that point.

  • I wouldn't be so fast to say "it couldn't be worse."

I will say though I would totally say to pull the lever and try that out. At the very least it would spice things up and make it feel like any game could be something different, not just being stuck at rank 1 going against only Spirit or stuck at rank 20 only going against Leatherface.

  • Honestly, any time somebody recognizes me not playing like a douche and is appreciative. Or even being nice (giving hatch or whatever.) Those moments never get old for me.
