I wouldn't say it's proof they aren't a fog whisperer just because they're not using it, but fog whisperers get an exclusive charm that looks like the face with fog around it (the fog whisperer icon) and it would be really easy to see that sort of thing in game I think.
If you're really in doubt, I'm pretty sure there's just a list that plain and simple names the fog whisperers. Not sure of the link to it, but I've seen one out there.

This isn't really a healthy thing. It takes me back a long time ago. I was playing killer and faced this TTV person. I like to support people. So after the game ends I go turn on this person's stream. I watch them for awhile. Back then you could check recently played with to see who your killer was (Don't know if this has been changed.)
They saw my name. The streamer said something along the lines of, "Oh it's that good trapper from a few games ago." His SWF teammate said, "Oh ######### that guy." And they all left the game.
Why is this a healthy change that's needed? It's not. People just avoid people that can play well. Oh that guys likes to main Freddy! DODGE. That guy is a little campy, DODGE! I hate nurses, he plays nurse DODGE! Like this is a really bad idea.
Yeah, nor is it "healthy" to have people that make it a point to just play like a dick. But it still happens. I just think it should go both ways: if a killer can see who a survivor is then it should work the other way around. Bringing ebony mori and tunneling the hell out of people and mori off first hook every game isn't "people that can play well." Either way, people can always change their screen name, at least on Steam, if they really care about that. Or just don't play like an absolute jerk.
Anyway, by your logic if people just dodged to avoid "people that can play well" then no games would ever go on because killers would be dodging all their strong opponents...

Since I can't post due to people getting hurt off a meme, what I don't like is how killers can see who survivors are and choose to lobby dodge. As survivors we should be able to see the killers name, since I've played some toxic killers and I mean really toxic lmao
Not gonna lie, while it doesn't personally bug me that as a survivor the killer can see my stuff, I still sometimes wish, like you said, you could see the killer's name even if not the killer chosen. I keep an eye on names too and would love avoiding people that burn memories of awful games into my brain.
-
No, I know exactly what you're talking about. There's times I played her because I just bought her a little bit ago, and I puke on a survivor and they even grunt like they're being puked on, and they'll wave their arms around and all that. Yet, not infected.
I'm almost certain that it's because of dedicated servers. There's no reason a survivor should be giving the reaction of being hit by puke and not get the effects of it. If that's what you're talking about, then I'm pretty sure it's a server thing.

The increase in better items is hardly noticeable, to be honest.
Well I notice it. Point is, if you plan on playing the game enough, even a very slight increase in rarity is an investment for the future, and is probably wise. If you plan on playing the game enough.
-
It's not like I've never fallen for an Insidious Bubba before, but I'm already cautious enough as it is when going for basement plays. If I know it's LF, I have even more reason to be.
One thing I don't see anybody saying really is that you can actually see between the gaps in the wooden planks in the basement. I can tell you for certain that I've caught several Basement Bubbas trying to Insidious camp just by slowly going down the stairs about halfway and then turning my camera around a little to see if I can get a glimpse of him in the corner through the cracks. It's pretty easy to see his hair and his grimy white tee shirt.
IDK, it has been a little bit since I ran into one of those really dedicated Basement Bubbas, so maybe you can't see it as well anymore, but I'm pretty sure that's a technique that's used in several tiles, so I imagine it still works in the basement.
-
At that point you might as well just take it all the way, and ask for us to be able to just simply select the perks we want. I'd much rather have either the current system or that, than only being able to exclude certain ones.
-
Most video games require some level of "suspense of disbelief" to appreciate the game. Like, in most RPGs where you have an inventory and items/weight, the characters can usually fit obscenely large things into their pockets, or carry inhuman amounts of weight. Some things just exist like that because it makes sense for the game. In DbD I would say collision between survivors and killers can lead to some pretty close calls between either an escape or a down/hook.
-
You get better items in your bloodwebs and a free bloody cosmetic. Doesn't it say this when you go to prestige?
-
Well if we're talking about something like aliens or androids, there's several things that wouldn't work with that. Lore-wise maybe it's possible, but it would be weird to me seeing Hag mori an android/robot survivor. What would she pull out? A spleen? Would she pull out and eat scraps of metal? What about Plague, how would her sickness affect a robotic survivor? Or Clown's gas?
-
What I don't see anybody mentioning is, what would the killer get as compensation for the survivors getting to switch their loadouts in between lives? If the survivors got to adjust mid game to what the killer did, it seems like toward the end of the game the killer would just end up being at a severe disadvantage, because everybody would run Resilience against Legion and Plague, and stuff like that.
-
Essentially what Fibijean said... You don't have to put other people down just because you prefer to play it that way. And no, just because somebody doesn't maintain rank 1/2 doesn't mean they "aren't good enough." Rank is borderline meaningless in this game so any argument you make based on it is flimsy at best.
I'm glad that you're fine with/enjoy the "randomness of a terrible team" causing you to not be able to play and even get sent back into queue again early, but a lot of people aren't really fine with it, and would rather not run the risk. There's a difference between that and "everyone else wants a pass." Don't be so cynical.
-
I feel your pain, as all of us have had to start from that point at some point in time. Anyway, if it makes you feel any better, some of the perks that are unlocked by default (obtainable through bloodweb) are pretty good, such as Spies from the Shadows. Whispers is also pretty good but takes practice to get used to.

I hate being facecamped as much as the next guy, but:
- Everybody seems to have a different definition of what facecamping is.
- Making a cookie cutter post that's seen on the forums already sometimes multiple times a day isn't going to make any points that already haven't been made

I play overwatch and have never had a problem leaving a match, and nothing that comes close to a 24 hour penalty. The hostage is not being able to leave a match, although I have been griefed by other survivors body blocking you in somewhere until the killer comes (but that was not what I was talking about). I have had 6 hour penalty twice so yes I know 1st hand that 3 DCs in can get you that length of time. And I am not sure what your 1st comment means, we were not discussing game objectives in this thread.
You must not play OW comp mode, or maybe you do since you admit to receiving something but "nothing that comes close to a 24 hour penalty." Even then, I still recall punishments for disconnecting from competitive.
Last time I checked, this is how the penalties stacked up:
1st = 1 minute
2nd = 5 minutes
3rd = 15 minutes
4th = 30 minutes
5th = 1 hour
6th = 6 hours
7th = 24 hours
If they did increase it since then, that's good in my opinion, because after they were implemented I still would constantly see people disconnecting right after getting downed for the first time. Just because you're not having fun, that doesn't mean that you aren't in a game that you signed up to play. Just because you paid money, doesn't mean you get to put your own selfish desires before everybody else who paid good money for it as well.
And to address your confusion: There's a penalty for DCing because it's not a part of the gameplay loop, it's refusing to play whatsoever and the devs don't want it. I said it in reference to you asking me "And when are the penalties for Hard Tunnel/ Face Campers coming???" Once again, disconnecting isn't part of playing the game. Killing people is, whether somebody decides to do it in an unskilled way (facecamping) or not. So no punishments for that. Yes for disconnection penalties. Especially because everybody seems to have a different definition of what "face camping" or "tunneling" is.
So to reiterate points:
-DCing isn't part of the game, killing is.
-You aren't being held hostage by being camped or tunneled. Your game is bound to end soon if that's the case.
-As far as I know, it's not 6 hours for 3 disconnects. If it is that and I just wasn't aware they changed it, then that's actually better than 1 = 1, 2 = 5, and 3 = 15. That way people take it more seriously if they decide to baby rage.

And when are the penalties for Hard Tunnel/ Face Campers coming??? DC is not ruining people's game, constant toxic killer/survivor behavior is. I am with OP, being trapped in a game with people playing terrible, griefing, etc is worse than a DC. I have never had a problem with people Dcing, sometimes I whole haeartedly agree with their decision to leave. And you can get a 6 hour penalty on your 3rd DC, so it is not a "if you are DCing sooo much you deserve it" the penalties rise at an ridiculous rate. And there is no accounting for # of games or hours played. You could play 150 games over 2-3 days, and 3 DCs = hours long penalties. This is a game that every individual paid to play and no other major multi-player game forces you to play with people abusing you. The DC penalty system has also emboldened poor behavior because the perpetrator knows that if you DC to get away from them, you will still be punished for their poor sportsmanship. I left the sides vague because I have both sides behave pretty toxic. I am not against the DC penalty idea but it has been executed terribly in DbD, and in general is now punishing the wrong people. Maybe they could put a little effort into fixing the issues that cause so many DCs in the 1st place.
-DCing isn't the objective of people playing DbD. Killing people is.
-Unless you're being bodyblocked in a corner and can't get out, you aren't being held hostage.
-You don't get a 6 hour penalty after 3 DCs. That's simply false, at least on PC.
-"no other major multi-player game forces you to play with people abusing you." Once again, simply false. Examples off the top of my head: Overwatch, League of Legends, DotA 2, CS:GO... I could probably find more examples, but all those are very high profile games.
I think that about covers everything.

i agree with offerings but 1. no matter what add ons will always be lost 2. i don't think survivors rank should be affected if the killer leaves but if a teammate leaves that is a different story and 3. it takes like 5 mins to get into another match and at the end of the day it's a game nobody even me should take it too seriously. and yet again I HAVE NOT BEEN BANNED FOR 6 HOURS i've said it multiple times. And it's not that i don't care about other people it's just i've encountered more toxic survivors than i have encountered respectful players
A used up item with addons isn't the same thing as one that was just wasted because the killer decided they can't commit to the game that they signed up for. Never said you got banned for 6 hours either, I don't know where you got that from. I'm saying that if somebody still doesn't understand how things work at 6 hours then it's still an appropriate time for them to be banned... Because they obviously still don't get that the developers aren't okay with people being quitters. As is the case with most game devs.
I guess you're just too set in your ways to understand how you could negatively impact the gaming experience of others and how selfish it is, so I'm just gonna call it quits.

I don't see how leaving a game as killer should affect a survivor other than feeding their massive ego. I'm agreeing with everyone on this so far btw i just think sometimes killers and survivors have really good reasons to leave and they shouldn't be banned for that. If people aren't happy with that i'll take the odd 15 min ban but not 6 hours that's just absurd.
Lost offerings, lost add ons, lost pips, lost time... If it isn't obvious to you then you either just don't know the game well enough or you lack empathy/don't care about other people.
If they have a really good reason to leave, like somebody is about to give birth, or even something like they have a sudden urge to take a massive dump, that type of thing will only happen once in a very long while. You can eat a 5 minute ban. If you DC enough to get all the way up to 6 hours then you obviously aren't taking the hint that you shouldn't be playing the game, and need to be forcibly kept out for even longer.
-
If somebody keeps repeatedly leaving games why shouldn't they be kicked out for increasing amounts of time? If they don't want to commit to an activity they themselves signed up for (playing the game) and want to continue ruining the game for others, and 5 or 10 minutes ban isn't enough, then they should be banned for 3 hours, 6 hours, even 24+ hours. However long it takes people to realize that ruining other peoples' games isn't okay, should be the amount of time they get banned. So if that takes 5 minutes, fine. If it takes 6 hours, fine. Either way, it's pretty much up to the person DCing to lower their own penalty.
It should remain in place. If any change should be made, it should be more strict.

I really don't understand killers sometimes they complain about second chance perks then when a survivor complains about tunnling they tell you to use second chance perks.
I don't completely think they're wrong in suggesting them, because they exist so, why shouldn't they be used? So in that sense I'm not innocent of thinking that...
I have to agree though. I feel personally (and would imagine many feel the same) that DS isn't even purely an "anti-tunneling" perk as the situations it's usable in reach far beyond just "being tunneled." As a result, I don't really feel like it should be endorsed in such a way. The only thing that's going to do is encourage people to rely on DS to play like they rely on oxygen to breathe, and that's just another Hex: Ruin situation waiting to happen.
-
I would put it more gracefully than the other guy, so don't try to twist me saying all this into "defending" toxicity:
I think while it isn't "your fault," you probably still shouldn't sit around in the end game chat if stuff like this bugs you. It bugs me to an extent too, in the sense that I hate that people are that stupid, but that's exactly why I don't stay after the game unless I specifically am wanting to check how many bloodpoints I got, or somebody's build/item+add ons. In that scenario, I'm not even looking at the chat anyway, and I leave immediately after. I highly recommend you do the same if you feel like you can't handle people being like this.
Once again, not to defend this behavior. Report them and do what's appropriate. Just remember you can always walk away from the screen.
-
You can say it's the code's fault and I truly do understand what you're saying about not instantly being kicked out of the match in other games, but you still have an unreliable connection, and you're still choosing to continuously queue up for more games. Games that you know you could disconnect in and leave your team mates (or all the survivors if you're playing killer) at a disadvantage or just a straight up waste of a game.
If you ask me, that's selfish no matter what way you look at it. It's most certainly not disrespectful for other people to recommend, for the sake of everyone else, that you play something else until you can get your connection situation sorted out. You seem to know of other games that won't immediately ban you out when you have a "hiccup" so it shouldn't be a problem to find other ones to play.
-
Personally (and I know this is going to rustle some jimmies) but I actually find playing against Nurse to be more boring than Freddy. So I don't think he's exactly the most annoying killer, but what I dislike about him is the fact that he can accomplish so much and doesn't feel like he really has a trade off for all his advantages. He just can kind of passively do a bunch of annoying stuff that doesn't take a lot of effort and it's only exacerbated by the fact that he's been given easily accessible general game slowdown add ons. Usually against Freddy I feel like I can at least do something so he's not my least favorite killer to go against, but I definitely notice these things that stick out, so I can understand why people might find him boring to play against.
-
I've always been a fan of Doc so maybe it's a little biased, but I enjoyed the Doc login menu theme a lot. Also, the regular survivor/killer menu themes (with the acoustic sounding and really heavy electric guitar respectively) always pleased my ear. Good thing too, because they're pretty much always played for me.
-
I feel like I've heard people, including myself, saying that even rank 1s can be bad. Maybe I just get unlucky but half the time I'm playing survivor and I get a rank 1 team mate, they're just playing like complete garbage and I'm guessing the whole time they're rank 15 or something playing with a friend. Then end of game screen hits and boom, rank 1. It gets me every time...

The thing is I want to get better at the game without relying on perks like a crutch. Trying out different builds, variability, and variety- like if for whatever reason I can't use SC, I dont want to go from red ranks survivor to green ranked. Especially not with other red ranked killers (again, rank dont matter, but its a general skill difference).
If that's truly how you feel, just play the game "naked." Go with nothing. I don't even say this to be sarcastic or anything, but I just feel like pretty much every perk is a crutch to some extent, and if you feel like it's a crutch to use Spine Chill then it's probably going to be just about as much of a crutch using any other perk.
I've been in the same boat trying to find other perks to use, but honestly I kind of just use whatever I want now and see how it plays out. You never know what you'll go against anyway.
My point is, at the end of the day, I don't think you should overthink it. Obviously it's good not to lean into one perk too much but you know what I mean...
-
I saw somebody post a similar thing but they said they were addicted to Bond and Kindred. I'll tell you essentially what I told them: if it meshes well with your playstyle and it feels good for you to play with, I don't know why you would want to be switching it out anyway.
-
Not sure you need to learn to play without them. If you want to learn, simply just take other perks. I like to take perks that help in a lot of situations personally, so I enjoy things like Resilience and Bond and whatnot, and tend to avoid things like Adrenaline.
Thing is with Bond, I play solo survivor. So if you're like me and you play solo a lot, then this kind of perk is probably well suited for you and you shouldn't even be taking it off. If you really feel like it's not that great though, then simply switch off to a perk that you feel would help you play the way you like better.
-
I've been having that happen to me a little more recently too, or maybe I'm just noticing it more.
Honestly, I'm not even somebody to blame other things like lag or whatever for my shortcomings usually. I'll just say I suck and accept that I messed up. But there's been sometimes specifically as survivor that I've noticed where I'll jump through a window, complete the animation and everything, and start getting momentum running before the killer finally comes over and swings at the window and still somehow manages to hit me through it. Kind of like what happened in the video, except if the survivor didn't literally get teleported back.
-
No, because people would just intentionally stay out of high ranks for easy games like they always do. They'll just have more of a reason to do it.
-
Yup. It's a cursed item if you ask me. I just had a game the other day where I brought one and had my team mates flocking over me trying to heal me the second I got downed, instead of waiting to let me recover. Also farming me off hook.
As a result, I had my bleedout bar go down to less than half I believe, just to be hooked all 3 times at the very start and only earn 3k bloodpoints out of my game from my party streamers.
I've since decided that I'm literally just going to avoid them on survivor at the bare minimum. At least maybe if I bring them as killer I can treat it like a survivor pudding, and I won't have another killer/troll team mates ending my games early.
-
No offense but there's like a million posts about being tired of dealing with SWF. I'm pretty sure the devs are aware of people saying this.
I'm pretty sure the whole gen progression with multiple people nerf was specifically targeted at this level of play. I don't know what making another cookie cutter post after they're already buffing killer side is going to do.
-
I try to differentiate a lot between "mad" and maybe "annoyed." I rarely find myself getting actually mad at games anymore. Usually when I used to it would be mostly because of people, but I've gotten desensitized to people over time so, I find it hard to even muster the energy to be mad at anybody over a game.
Pretty much the only time I ever get annoyed is when I feel like I pretty much queue'd up for no reason. Like when I spawn into a game, and 4 seconds into the game I'm already running into Hillbilly or something and getting backrevved because I didn't expect to spawn 4 seconds away from a Hillbilly. Or, obviously, in those situations where people are just literally ruining somebody's match intentionally, which is also obviously a huge waste of time. That's the only thing that really gets any reaction out of me. Most of the time it's just "jesus, whatever. Just another idiot..."
I don't feel like people should be getting mad as much at games, especially a game like DbD. I can understand certain frustrations, especially coming from the people themselves and not the game (like people just being outright toxic in chat and stuff) but when I think about it honestly, and I encourage others to think about it too, I find it hard to find a reason to give that amount of energy to some random moron on the internet. It's just not worth ruining my day over.
-
Can't say I relate. I almost never find a key unless it's really early in the game, and then I have key in my hand from the start so the killer can tunnel me down...
Other than that, I pretty much always have to bring Plunderer just to get a chance to find anything but a brown toolbox, and it feels like a pretty good portion of the time I'm getting maps anyway, not keys.
-
@plunder said:
This is not from a killers standpoint but for both sides. swf isnt really the problem on it's own. Discord and console party chats is the problem that needs to be addressed. The devs need to take a stance on this and make it where you cant que in game or start a game in lobby while a third party voice chat is active. They need to give solos a ingame party chat if it was intended for survivors to have it. So at least survivors are nerfed fairly for all then nerfing all of them because of swf party chats.
If communication for survivors wasn't intended. then they need start adding into the game a blocker for party chats for console and have pc flag discord so they cant start lobbies or games while its active. Mainly because those are considered exploits that should be bannable. For anyone who doesn't understand. The act of using third party software to give yourself a unfair advantage that the developers didn't intend is a exploit. That frankly needs to be bannable.
But let's be real no dev will do this. They will hide. because they want to shill money from us as long as they can with shoddy design games they create. Why else do you see so many bugs that takes weeks or been a year and still not fixed. But I rather vent this frustration thenhold onto it.
People have already explained why this wouldn't be plausible.
Either way, you say "The devs need to take a stance on this" and they have. They've said comms is fine. End of story. There's your stance.
-
It's ridiculous to me how people even use rank as an insult in this game. I could be rank 1 on both sides, not play for a while, and then derank to lower than 10 or 15 and still get people insulting me for being low rank after the game, whether they win or lose. At that point I just know it's not somebody worth dealing with, because they don't have the mental fortitude to come up with something other than that.

I mean I only dropped it for him to see that I had it, not for him to take, and since I'm a red rank survivor, I reckoned that he knew that we could open the hatch with the key. Plus if he opens the hatch then the key would be used and I could keep his flashlight
I know but my point is people do completely idiotic things constantly, especially in online games. I know it's not exactly fun but you just have to expect that stuff to happen. Even if it's not exactly what would make sense. I with you though, I wouldn't think he would just randomly pick up the key and teabag on hatch without opening it if I was you in that situation.

You land a hit with the legion, and the survivor runs to a safe pallet, or a good loop. Normally your power would be able to help you at either of those situations, but since they are already injured it loses most of its purpose, but at the very least you could use it to "bounce" off that player and instead go after others to spread pressure instead of having to put up with the time wasted by that pallet or loop. So you either have to waste time waiting for the power to come back to do so, or just commit to the bad chase and waste time and pressure trying to secure the down.
Meanwhile, even the spirit at least gets something for the former: when she gets her power back, it can be used to mindgame the pallet or loop even if they are safe, and gives her potential to actually get a down. Legion's power doesn't. So its basically a lose/lose situation, the only possible benefit you could glean from it is if its a pallet then its one less safe pallet on the map after its dealt with, thought it could easily cost you 1-3 gens in that time so its not a very big plus.
In their current state, too many things about the legion punish committing to a chase, but their rewards for changing targets are likewise too low. Their restrictions are more harsh than other killers who are already more powerful than them, and many of those same restrictions on other killers would easily drop their viability substantially. If your goal is to keep everybody injured, why would you play legion over plague? She can even use her power more effectively at loops and pallets, and you'd actually get rewarded whether they heal or not (albeit her emblems generation is still pretty bad, so she's harder to pip with in most games.)
I understand all that, I'm just confused as to why in the situation laid out in the first paragraph, why the Legion couldn't just frenzy hit the first survivor and then run away, if they wanted to injure the person they were chasing and then "bounce" off them to go after others. I understand Spirit is still overall a more effective killer too.

when legion lands a normal m1, without using his power at all, his meter for his power is depleted by a chunk. This is on top of needing it to be full to use it, and some circumstances (like hitting someone with his power while theyre already under its affect) reduce it entirely to zero instantly. Since the legion's power is non-lethal, its a very nonsensical limitation, as you couldn't do something like m1 then activate FF and get a quick down.
Meanwhile, many other killers like the huntress, gunslinger, and plague can have the ability to use their power and their m1 in tandem to get very quick 2 hit downs. The spirit comparison is because her meter works similarly to a degree (needing to be 100% to activate) but she can hit a survivor with m1, then start her power as soon as the weapon wipe finishes and be able to lethally down the survivor if they are unable to escape in that short window.
It's just something that should have been changed back when the legion's power got neutered, but still hasn't been addressed.

Legion's gauge drops by half (10 seconds) when we hit someone with M1. What happens to Spirit's gauge when she hits with M1?
I still don't feel like it's fair to say they're that different because as I said in a previous post, Spirit is a 110% killer. A lot of her first hits, from personal experience playing as or against her, are from using her power as well. I'm not going to say she never will attack a survivor without phasing first, but often times I notice it's just easier to phase a small amount and use the brief invisibility + the brief speed boost at the end to try to get an aggressive lunge. Even if this isn't the case, you can make a lot more distance from a Spirit just holding W than against Legion when neither are using their power, because again, she's 110%.
Either way Legion excels at getting people injured in the first place, so you aren't going to want to be just regularly injuring people very often, and then switching to your power unless for some reason you want to turn on your power and run away toward a different target for whatever reason. While I can understand why not being able to do that might be frustrating, I don't see why you couldn't just go for the frenzy hit and then just do that same thing anyway, and run off after the other person.
I never really thought about it that much because I don't play Legion but while I think it's weird, I just don't think just changing that is going to do anything significant to him. I just originally commented because I assumed they meant having a cooldown after attacking with the power, and I was saying his one addon that knocks down the timer would make that idea OP just by itself.

That would be really broken, true. I think OP means that 50% cooldown penalty you get after hitting someone with a basic m1.
I still don't understand the entire post based off that because he compares it to Spirit. I'll admit that I don't personally own Legion so I might be missing a detail or something but I have played almost every other killer including Spirit. I say that because I don't know why they compare the two killers when, even if Legion has a cooldown for his power after attacking, Spirit does too. Spirit has to wait until her gauge is full just like Legion. I don't know the exact numbers on the cooldown but... Even if Spirit is better she's also a 110% speed killer.

7.5 seconds from a 30 second timer, but nobody was talking here about Legion not having a cooldown I think. And you know that if you hit someone with dw while in ff you will get stunned for 4 seconds and your power gauge just goes to 0.
Well the point is I'm assuming that the person is talking about not having a cooldown after attacking. So once again, assuming that was true, and Legion was able to repeatedly just stab somebody, without cooldown, meaning without getting any stun or anything, that addon alone would make it a problem.
But maybe I'm just misunderstanding the point of the post. Which is entirely possible. I'm aware that his power gauge will go to 0 after hitting a repeated target in his current form and all that stuff.

Yea, pretty op, it only takes like 80 seconds to down someone with that addon, plz nerf.
Did you even read what I wrote? Do you even know how much that addon reduces the timer by per stab? Why would it even take close to 80 seconds to down somebody with that addon, if Legion were allowed to stab as many times as he wanted in his power without cooldown?

Yeah, people have changes of heart. If you genuinely believe it's kinda dumb now, then no reason to listen to people who give you crap over that. Honestly people just do stuff literally to just be annoying. I don't understand the where the fun comes out of it. I've done it once where admittedly I was kind of laughing, but it was just because the game itself was dumb (I was going against a hostage Doc and he wouldn't do anything to either of us except trap us in a 3 gen) so I just made my character scream over and over. I'm just immature I guess and found the screaming itself funny.
But that aside from that, people will just do the most ridiculous stupid things. Body blocking and ruining their team mates games/sandbagging, waiting until the very last second to end the game, etc. Again, I'll never understand what's so fun about just doing pointless time wasting things like that in a video game, but people apparently enjoy doing those things.
-
Do you realize how OP it would be to just repeatedly keep stabbing and frenzying on the same survivor with no cooldown, with the addon that reduces the bleedout bar per stab?
-
You mean to tell me you dropped your red key close enough for a random player to pick it up and still expected to get out through the hatch?
Literally the only reason I'll ever hand a key over to some random person is if I'm either going to prestige a character (thus the item will go to waste) or I'm 99% sure I'm going to die and want to pass on the gift. Otherwise, always expect that. Survivors can be just as dangerous to each other as the killer.
Sucks that it happened, but hopefully you'll learn and remember next time.

Griefing is not a core gameplay mechanic. Teaming with the killer to grief other players is not farming, it's griefing. The other player is not "free to do whatever" they'd like when they are being held hostage by the other players.
What do you think farming is? It's not an intended gameplay mechanic; it's not a part of the core gameplay loop. If you aren't playing the game normally, then you certainly don't need bloodpoints anyway do you? If you want to ignore the entire point of the game by "farming", then do it in a private lobby without effecting random people.
I feel like this has been explained (with pictures for the illiterate here) in a simple enough manner multiple times. If you can't understand at this point, then you can't be helped.
It's hilarious how you patronizingly suggest that I can't understand a point when it's you not understanding. You're equating people messing around and not playing seriously to "griefing." I can't tell if you think farming is griefing or if you're just not understanding the point of what I said entirely.
You responded to somebody saying that if you're talking about farming then half of people would be banned on double BP events (because everyone farms) by saying "Then they should be banned? They are intentionally joining public lobbies to ruin the game for people that paid to play the game properly." Just because people aren't playing the game "properly" doesn't mean they're griefing. Everybody has a different idea of what the "proper" way to play the game is, and if it really really matters to you that there's an objective right/wrong, then the DEVS' opinion of farming is that it's fine. So feel about it how you want, but farming is not griefing.
As I said earlier I don't know if you just misunderstood the point of what I'm saying, but I'll reiterate with different wording. I don't feel like you getting literally griefed by your team mates just repeat unhooking/slugging you with the killer is fine. I'm not talking about that when I say farming. What I'm saying is people should not be punished for working with the other side/intentionally not playing the game "correctly" to maximize their bloodpoints. The whole point of doing this is to ease the pain of having to accrue bloodpoints by letting people maximize what they're getting per game. So because of this, your whole "do it in a private lobby without effecting random people" is just downright stupid if you have any idea of how DbD works. You don't get BP in a custom game and everything's unlocked.
Nobody is being held hostage by people simply just letting the killer hook them and the killer simply just letting the survivors go after getting their 2 hooks per, and everybody is chill with it. Everyone can practically leave whenever they want in a situation like that. Don't try to twist what I'm saying into "trolling another person by not letting them play is fine." That's simply not what I'm saying, and if you keep trying to just reduce it down to that then I have no reason to reply to you any further, as it will just show that you have no real desire to discuss anything and you just want to argue with people for the sake of arguing.
It's like you didn't even bother to read what I said in my post.

It's crazy how they created the EGC to minimize survivors taking hostage of the game wheb now, killers need their 4k that they will slug 1 survivor down ubtil they find the other so on and so forth until they either bleed out or get the 4k. IF 1 survives, killer gets hatch then like you said, gets to monitor the two exit gates that are ofteb close to eachother. What I've begun to do with my teamate instead of trying to finish last gen we just creep pn map until killer AFC or messages. If they want to take hostage of the game for a 4k then i will take hostage to survive.
Still rather have the EGC implemented than not because it's on an actual timer, whereas survivors refusing to end the game and just running around forever is not.
It especially goes to show you how far survivors will take it when even still during the EGC you will almost always have one survivor that just sits in the game doing heaven knows what, until the very very last moment right before EGC is about to kill them, and THEN they'll leave. It also goes to show how immature and senseless they are by how when simply asked why they choose to do that, they'll respond with "you're just trash" or tell you "stop crying cus ur mad."
I'm not even a killer main, I would say I play both sides pretty equally (and I don't SWF pretty much ever for what that's worth) and I still find myself baffled at survivors more often than killers. Maybe it's just because there's more survivors on a team, so more chances to run into an idiot.
Point is, EGC is one of the best things they've added in this game. Even with its flaws. In my opinion.

Decreasing the Bleed out Speed of hooked survivors or just stopping the Bleed Out timer in general when the killer is within a certain range of the hooked survivor will work if there are enough other conditions for that as well:
- The survivor has to have been hooked for 20 seconds
- no other survivor is within that same range of the hooked survivor
- the killer is not within a chase
- once all gens are powered, this mechanic is disabled
- the killer can no longer see the Bleed Out progression of survivors
If these additional conditions are applied, slowing down or stopping the Bleed Out timer would work as far as I can tell. Unless you can tell me how survivors could still abuse this?
Main things here, for me at least, are that games are already extremely short so lengthening the time survivors are on a hook... I don't know about that idea. Especially if the killer just wants to patrol the area around the hook because, as you suggested, they wouldn't be able to see the bleedout bar of the survivor they hooked, and would still have to check around to see if there's somebody in the area.
Plus, as a survivor I already have that mentality of "oh well I'm gonna get screwed over sometimes, might as well just buy my team time even if it's just by me dying really quickly." With that kind of change, I would get to feel even more confident about just luring the killer away from my team doing gens because I would know that he's screwed either way because he either has to stay in the area and hope that he doesn't just let go of all of his pressure by giving a free unhook, or stay in the area to try to defend his hook while the team, like normal, would just be cranking out gens and ending the game quickly. Plus, this also might cause the rise of less camping but more tunneling. I know as if I had survivors that were just unhooking right when I got out of whatever radius, I'd probably want to at least go back and punish that play.
In the end I don't think it's the worst idea but in my head when I think of it this playing out, I imagine it solving some problems but creating new ones. At least with the current state of the game. In an alternate reality where the game was balanced differently, I would be more willing to agree that this should be implemented.

There's probably a million and one different conditions that should deactivate DS. Off the top of my head:
-survivor touches gen
-killer downs a separate survivor (an injured team mate shouldn't be saving you without BT right in front of the killer's face anyway)
-killer chases a different survivor for at least X seconds (maybe 20? 30?)
-another team mate activates/uses DS
-survivor with DS heals all the way up to healthy again
I'm not saying every one of these is completely healthy to add on as deactivation condition. More like, if any of these things happen, or some other things that I didn't list, then I would say the killer isn't tunneling. A killer shouldn't be chasing for a long time/downing another survivor, and the survivor shouldn't be getting on a gen/getting healed all the way back to healthy and another survivor shouldn't be using DS. All those things don't happen when somebody is getting tunneled off hook.
Note, the only reason I say this is because BHVR are touting it as an "anti tunneling" perk. I feel like that's just utterly false with how it has no condition other than getting off the hook, and lasts for 60 whole seconds and can be run by multiple survivors.

I'm not EU. I'm in NA.
It's sad that many people don't even play the game, they just log in to grief people and that's their hobby in life.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1203106#Comment_1203106
Then they should be banned? They are intentionally joining public lobbies to ruin the game for people that paid to play the game properly. This is not farming, this is griefing & harassment. If they want to be dumb & infinite revive someone, they can make a custom game do it there with just themselves and not ruin the game for random players.
Farming should not be bannable. If you don't want to farm and the killer is intentionally not killing you then you're free to do whatever you'd like in the game, and that includes rushing through the gens and opening the gate to get out ASAP if you'd like. People definitely should not be banned for farming if they're not completely holding a player hostage. To equate something like farming where somebody is trying to be nice, to griefing, is frankly just ridiculous.
And yes, as somebody else said, you can hold shift to prevent anybody from interacting with you. So you aren't actually trapped with the ability to do nothing, although I'll still have to say it's annoying when you get people intentionally trying to ruin your game either way.
Just as long as that's what they're intentionally trying to do.
