  • I think a lot of people over-exaggerate exactly how hard she is to play. I'm not saying she's brainless to play, but I think for being the strongest killer, it's a small price to play to put in some hours to learn her. Especially because it's not some herculean task just to know how to hold down a button and predict a survivor's movement.

that said you KNOW what you are playing and everything in this game from BT and swf and gen rushing to moris keys noed and stbfl are all fair game along with camping and tunneling.

you choose to play a game that has a broken matchmaking and want to cry like a baby cause it didnt go your way. if you dont like the possible outcomes of the game why play? if its that bad why not just quit?

cause we all know its not also doctor carter has some advice for you

You probably don't need me telling you this, but you're spot on. Don't listen to the other guy giving you crap.

The moment somebody starts legitimately complaining about rank and blaming it for being the reason they lost, and start declaring that they should be able to be selfish at the cost of others, it's probably a good sign you shouldn't take that person seriously.

thank you for being the poster boy/girl of dbd stupidity and toxicity. Being complacent like you are is why the devs feel they can ######### on us and take our money without consequence. But yeah you keep being a basement troll in your parents house you'll get far. It’s also not a point of getting good idiots like you are seriously why nothing gets done, because you are ok with it being the way it is instead of flexing the rights you have as a consumer. I may need to get good but its better than needing to get smart.

Just because somebody disagrees with your opinion doesn't mean they're "complacent."

For all you know this person could hate the game. Hell, they said "you choose to play a game that has broken matchmaking," so they don't sound like they believe DbD is all happiness and sunshine. Stop trying to twist around somebody's words, honestly. Take a step back and reflect.

You're really quick to judge somebody and mock them while you on the other hand have done nothing but embarrass yourself here by acting like a child.

It may be the fact that the rift is so underwhelming overall that the recolours stand out the most, possibly due to the fact that theyre a bright ass rainbow too, I dont know tbf, the last Rift just seemed so much more memorable even with the recolours. If I remember correctly the blue ice Hag skin was a recolour, yet it looked so nice perhaps due to the fact it was a cosmetic rather than the base, it had its uniqueness to it rather than just having a bright ass gradient slapped onto it and calling it a day.

I don't mind if people complain about the specific recolors themselves (for example, I think the neon ones are pretty ugly in this rift as well) but I've seen complaints about the fact that there is recolors, as if that hasn't been happening.

  • @Sydraen said:

Oh boy oh man, I popped into the game to have a googly oogly at the new cosmetics in the rift and all I got was a whole lotta ugly but no googly.

I had to cover my face in shock over the pass cosmetics, the only thing that looks in taste is the Dwight jacket and the f r e e Spirit skin towards the end; its all recycled recolours that are... in curious tastes.

    Beyonce sweetie, I'm so sorry...

(Obviously, I know I dont have to buy it so I have no room to complain blah blah, just had to let it outta my system.)

How is yall feelin about it?

I'm not particularly thrilled about these cosmetics, because I've seen the ones from rifts 1 and 2, and I just like them better, but I see a lot of people complaining about the fact that some of the skins are recolors in this rift. That's kind of how it's been since the first one, so that logic kind of confuses me.

  • I agree it is confusing wording, but after seeing you explain it it does kind of make sense. It makes me think of the daily ritual, where it says "survive and escape with X survivor" which I always thought sounded a little redundant, but maybe this is why they word it like that.

  • @MissKitty95 said:

@Mikeasaurus I agree I feel this one is very lazy I just noticed a claudete skin is exactly the same as one in the store which I already brought -_-

Tome 1 had recolored Meg and Claud things, Tome 2 had recolored Wraith cosmetic in it, and I think recolored David King stuff. I don't know why this is news, it's been happening since tome 1. You get some recolored stuff (which I personally tend to like the alternate colors so far) and then some exclusive unique things, like the Doctor's adrenaline rush set or whatever it is, or the new Huntress outfit for this rift.

Plus all of it is for the price of one quality outfit, if I remember correctly. So if you're kind of on a budget it's also a nice option.

  • I'm still trying to figure out where the misuse of power is.

  • Practically any game I play survivor (I play solo)

  • It's always been a little bit grating on my ears, but I don't necessarily hate it. I think it mostly just sounds cheesy. Some characters have really good believable voice acting and sounds, like (in my opinion) Ace, Tapp, David King... But Steve's voice just sounds... Ya know.

  • You're forgetting this is the kind of community to act like a kid on mic in call of duty when they get to the end game chat.

  • Yeah dude, they increased the penalty, on top of making it so survivors only get 1% bonus progression instead of 2% for a great skill check! That makes it so impossible to apply pressure, how will I ever stop them from doing gens now?

These two are the killers that basically kill me all the time I play against then, but no, you can kill someone whatever the killer but it a WAY harder, I think

Literally the 3 killers I see people agree are the strongest, Billy/Spirit/Nurse, are all technically available to own for free. Freddy is also strong but there's not a need to get Freddy. You can whoop on just about any other killer if you bring strong things, but some of the strongest ones aren't paid DLC exclusive.

  • Did you just try to suggest that without owning Demogorgon, or Freddy a player trying to play killer will be unsuccessful?

that's a fair point. how come they haven't done it yet then? do you think.

I think personally just because it's kind of... Unnecessary? Not that it would help nobody but more that, like I said before, people who want to chat probably are already using Discord or something. I personally think it might be kind of nice for people to have the option to hear people on their team, if they would like to, but I'm just personally not a fan of people.

  • I think in that last line you meant "token based" not "totem based." But that solution I think would be really touchy. While I feel like it could work, I don't see why you wouldn't just take devour hope instead. I mean, devour hope has a similar element of surprise where it doesn't reveal itself until you strike with it. It is still active during the main portion of the game, but I feel like 3 hooks and getting instant downs, plus the other perks you get at 2 and 5 tokens during the game is a lot more valuable than hooking each survivor 2 times for the capability of instant downing only during the end game.

I understand it's probably not the MOST thought out idea and you probably just kinda thought it up real quick, but I've seen the suggestion before just worded slightly differently and I remember thinking the same thing back then: why not just take devour then, so you can get all the benefits before the end game? I figured I'd just add the thought in this thread too, for discussion's sake. Anyway, if it did have a token based system I personally think it would have to be something other than "hook each survivor twice" because with that effort for that reward, it would seem just like a less powerful/watered down version of devour.

I'm not against it being changed at all though. Personally I'm of the opinion that it is on the survivors pretty much if the perk activates, so I feel like the totem counter would be the simplest solution. Just adding in a number doesn't seem too complicated. It would also keep the feeling of "this is totally preventable, you just have to take the steps to prevent it."

I am actually stepping away from this game. I just feel like it is my responsibility to respond to people in a thread I have started. That is why I am still here. When no more people show up, I'm going to call it a day. :)

But it isn't your obligation to respond. You can easily walk away from a thread/conversation, like I'm about to do.

    Whatever floats your boat though.

  • The way I see it, the people who want to use comms can, and the ones who don't don't have to. I wouldn't be opposed to them putting in comms by default, but I would only be okay with it if you could opt out/leave the channel. I wouldn't want to be on that voice chat, so I'd want the option to turn it off essentially, kind of like they have in Overwatch.

  • Might I recommend stepping away from your computer and taking a nap?

  • I have no idea what you're on about. Most of what the devs say on these forums comes off as just "matter of fact" to me.

I'm so sorry. I did not know that people could get offended by this. I don't know much about The Vietnam War cuz I grew up in Russia and I didn't realize how terrible it might have been for those who actually fought in the war. Once again, I'm terribly sorry if I offended someone.

I'm sorry you felt it was necessary to apologize for making a joke.

  • I find it shocking how little people actually are addressing the fact that this is a bug. She isn't supposed to work like that. Whether you think she's strong or not, I agree that since it's part of her design to only make the phasing sound happen outside her terror radius, that it should be fixed. Otherwise, they need to announce that it's just going to be the way she works now, and they need to change her prayer beads to have an effect that isn't phasing-sound-based.

  • Cry.

No, but seriously, I have yet to run into a hardcore SWF running OoO. As a matter of fact, the last OoO I ran into actually practically gave her dead sacrificed body to me on a silver platter. Any other time I've seen it run, the players have usually been "bad" enough that I don't really notice it making a difference. So I do get a little worried, but I just try to remember that it's not usually a big deal from my experiences.

  • I'm not 100% certain myself, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly because of a stereotype. I've experienced it a few times myself.

I feel there's a stereotype for TTV streamers that they're kind of "attention seeking" in a way, and thus will do things to try to get the killer's attention or annoy them. I guess what people would call trying to "bully" the killer. Often times, for example, if I see there's an obsession while I'm not running an obsession perk, and there's a TTV in my game, I'm assuming that that's a player that has Decisive Strike.

  • There's a difference between somebody having no real points and you just refusing to acknowledge the ones that people are typing out for you to read.

Again, I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other toward Fredward. As I said before, it's more just the fact that you ignore peoples' points and mock them that's hilarious. This comment here shows exactly what I'm talking about. Especially the "you people" when I made it clear I'm not on any "side" here.

Have fun in your bubble though.

  • Are most matches really like this? I haven't run into anything like that yet, let alone even an Ash.

  • Last time they showed killer kill rates, wasn't Freddy just the most lethal across the board?

I don't have a problem particularly with Freddy but I think it's kind of silly to see people trying to act like he takes skill and mocking others who disagree. Very pathetic.

  • You should do it if you're feeling up to it. You don't have to.

I usually base helping other people off 3 main things:

-If somebody is in trouble that was actually a helpful/funny player or was really pulling weight on the team

-If it feels relatively low danger or not (if I could do it without any punishment)

-If I've been having "rough games" (not just me being in a bad mood, but if I'm constantly being camped/tunneled/abandoned by team mates and I just want to escape for once)

But I've always been under the impression that DbD is based around the premise of trying to fight for survival, and not always being able to save everybody, and therefore having to leave people behind sometimes.

  • I'm usually the kind of person to drag them back to the exit gate. I try to accept the match for how it went, and plus if somebody is trying to be that nice it's hard for me to want to not let them escape.

  • I'm so glad to see other people saying what I say usually: rank doesn't really mean anything in this game, other than getting a steam achievement.

  • @MegaWaffle said:

Actually its best to learn against people a little above your skill level and slowly move up by adjusting your own flaws.

I would learn jack ######### playing Basketball against top tier pros all the time because I don't know if I'm actually learning basic skills because everything I do ends up failing.

I'm not going to argue what's best or not -- personally for me I feel like the greater the adversity, the more quickly I adapt.

Anyway, that's just me. I just wanted to say, I would hardly call green ranks "top tier pros." Even red ranks have people that play like some rank 18s I've seen. Any argument based on rank is pretty unfounded, because ranks aren't representative of skill. Not that people aren't generally better in higher ranks like red ranks, versus a rank 18 or something, but come on... It's stretching a bit to try to say "top tier pros" when that clearly isn't what's said in the OP.

  • I wish I could answer but it's hard when everybody has a different definition for what's "toxic" or "sweaty" or whatever.

  • I'm pretty much of the same mindset now. I wouldn't be if people in this game acted better, but often times they don't.

I just had a game where I was doing just fine (I think I did 1 unhook, but I definitely worked on generators and got chased by the killer a fair amount). I finally get downed (against Wraith if that matters) and put on a hook in the center of the map, and had an Adam working on a gen practically right next to me (opposite of the stack of logs on Suffocation Pit) and he didn't bother unhooking me the whole time I was in 1st hook phase. Then I have a Bill walk up, a tiny bit after I hit 2nd phase, and only starts unhooking me after the Wraith started uncloaking behind him. Not like 16 meters away, practically close enough to smack the Bill's booty. Ofc the Wraith hits me right back down, and I don't run Decisive Strike usually, so I'm just sitting there recovering/waiting to be put out of my misery. To the Wraith's credit, he didn't actually pick me up right after downing me, and he chased somebody else instead, but the only person who came to heal me got seen as they were coming I think and he came back anyway.

It's games like this that make me have that same mindset. Games where it feels like there's more than just the killer trying to kill me.

  • Games can go so quickly that honestly if the killer ended up getting 25k BP just from facecamping, at least one person on your team critically screwed up.

  • I'm not going to say that all complaining is valid because there are definitely some people in here with some wild ideas, but this kind of is the place to discuss the game, unless you want to argue about it on Twitter or something. I just don't understand when people say to "stop complaining" when the forums for this very game is exactly the kind of place I would want to complain about something I'm unhappy with in the game. Am I wrong about that?

  • Rank is largely meaningless in DbD and thus any argument/complaint made about it is very likely to be pretty much pointless. The only thing rank is good for is earning a steam achievement, if we're being practical about it.

Anyway, how are those players keeping you from having fun again? By being better? I don't want to sound like a jerk but I'm honestly confused.

in Im done Comment by Huff
  • I think it sounds like a cool idea but I can imagine it just turning the meta toward 99'ing gens. With Ruin or some other gen regression it might not be that bad, but I hate when people become overly-reliant on a perk, because that's how things like the big Ruin debacle start.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

You're one of the politer people on the topic, and i appreciate that, thanks.

Guess that we're going to have to disagree. Generally, if the game can dictate what is a bad/good action, then i think that score is important in determining if you win or lose that game. I don't so much care about having to die to a killer if i die knowing that I (personally) did enough that match. I hate being able to escape if I on the contrary did barely anything the match. The reason that I see the score as more linked to whether you've won or lost, is because grinding is hugely part of the game, being able to grind and get to a place that I'm comfortable at - whether with perks, addons, items or whatever, means that I feel achieved more than just escaping on low score games, you get me?

No problem! I don't see a point in being rude to people who just want to discuss things.

  • Literally none of this, especially the stuff about "simulated sexual assault," has anything to do with how fair the game is.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1235615#Comment_1235615

Yes, because the game actively punishes you for not doing enough in a game if you just escape. This is not even in terms of ranking but also bloodpoints that you get in return for the match.

I guess we just disagree. You see it as "punishing" for "not doing enough in a game" but I see it as players being rewarded for doing more. Bare minimums will obviously get the lowest rewards, while higher risk will bring higher rewards. I personally don't think that means automatically that the survivors' main objective is to do all the extra stuff, I think simply that it means the game offers more to do than just the bare minimum of escaping.

Rank still doesn't mean anything really, so that can be dismissed right away. Either way, you want more bloodpoints, do more stuff in the game. That much is obvious, but I don't see what it has to do with the objective of the survivors, which in my opinion, is to escape. I have a feeling I won't be changing your mind on that though.

  • @SmarulKusia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1235533#Comment_1235533

Tell that to me the day that a survivor can safety pip just by escaping :)

Are you really trying to use a pip system that practically everybody knows is garbage to try to say that a survivor's only objective is to "do generators," really?

So the survivor's objective is to hold M1 on something and that's it, and not to make it out the exit gate?

  • I'm not going to make an argument for whether they're comparable or not, but what I will say is I believe it's wrong that the survivors' objective is just to "do generators." The killer's job is to kill, that we can agree on, but the survivors' objective in the end is to escape.

  • Teabagging has been happening in games for years. It's not going away. Especially with this type of reaction.

  • @xEa said:

Of course you are right, it is more easy to get bloodpoints when playing the killer, but i think this should stay the way it is.

Still.. there are ways to get a lot of bloodpoints as survivor. My favourite is this build here:

    • We're gonna live forever (obviously)
    • Prove Thyself (double coop)
    • Deliverance (extra points for unhooking yourself)
    • Desicive Strike (extra points for escaping as obsession and extra points for escaping the killers grasp)

This build is also the only realistic way to get max bloodpoints as survivor when the killer is not farming.

I might be wrong on this, but didn't they make a change to where self healing can give you survival points? If so, I think I might have seen a video where somebody was getting mad survival points (like 525) per great skill check they were hitting while healing, but it was with a medkit with the great skillcheck addons. It's a bit more setup than just "Deliverance" but I'm pretty sure that has a lot more potential for points, total.

  • So what you want to happen is...

    • 2 survivors left
    • Killer: "Hmmm, well I better be fair! Let me just not guard these gates, that would be mean."

    correct?

Otherwise, what should the killer do?

  • Survivors, mostly anybody with a really annoying scream. Meg's is "nice" (in terms of effort of voice actor) but it's shrill af, so stuff like that.

Killers, mostly just stuff that makes you feel like you can't even play the game. Facecamping Bubbas, super good Nurse, etc.

  • Yes, but overall it just tends to be worse, so I just put it 2 ticks to the left. I don't think it's the worst community I've come across but it definitely isn't the best.

  • Wish she wasn't the way she was. I like her concept but the execution is poor. She can basically tunnel down and kill somebody just like old Legion could, except it's on a smaller scale.

  • I already requested this a really long time ago when I was first picking up the game. I didn't really understand everything yet, but one thing I noticed was that you could pretty much ######### on hook and that seemed to be allowed, but there was no option to do the same sort of thing while just being slugged.

I asked in a livestream once while they were answering questions, and I had a mod or something tell me essentially "just use unbreakable or no mither" or something like that. My answer was something like "You can only use unbreakable once and no mither constantly keeps you injured so either way it still stinks. Plus you can just prematurely end your game while on hook, so why not just allow a "give up" option like 50% of the way through the dying bleedout?" and then I was told "I'll address your concern to the team" or something.

That was a year ago or something, so I'm pretty sure nothing came of that.
