Yes, you are better. Super +1. If someone has DS and you dont want the "stun" there is an ancient technique called... Slugging. And i think you know it too ^..^ You leave the surv on the ground for 1min and in the meantime you go ahead for the next one. Probably DS will be gone in the meantime, the surv too but you can have another hook in the meantime and survivors have been slowed down (a surv must to stop gen to raise the one on the ground ) . I wonder, why, how many people dont understand that......
Can't slug when somebody jumps in a locker. You're also sacrificing all the pressure you just went on a chase for. And then after you hook a different survivor, you get their DS to activate, and then you can't hook them for one minute. Rinse and repeat for all the hooks of every survivor, and the total time that adds up is longer than most games even last. You can't know who has it, and nobody goes around counting out exact seconds up to 60 for each individual survivor.
But yes, the answer is simply to "slug," and people just "don't understand" that. Because survivors totally can't take advantage of being left on the ground for free, or jump into a locker to completely avoid the situation. Guess I'm one of those people that just don't understand.

lol or maybe killers should be more AWARE when there's an obsession.
Or count to 60.
It's not hard.
Ya, totally not hard to count to 60 for 4 different survivors and know which one of them have DS, which is supposed to be an "anti-tunneling" perk but has uses far beyond that.
Sure.

This is what this intended to accomplish. When he reels you in slower, you get more time to slide to an object or wall. This could also be changed to waste less time by making survivors move side to side quicker, I reckon. Both accomplish the same effect.
Oh, sorry. If that's why it happens, because he reels you in too fast, then I kind of understand why you're saying it. I feel like when I get hooked by Deathslinger, it just doesn't really matter. It feels like he could have a bit more interaction during the "getting shot."
-
Guess I'm a fatty tunneler when all 4 survivors bring DS and I'm killing people too fast and end up eating one of the DS.
Guess I better just learn to play better, right?
-
I don't know if he exactly needs slower reeling or whatever, something that I think he needs more, or rather what the survivors need, is more capability to wiggle side to side when they get hooked onto. I don't mean anything crazy because I don't want him to be weak, but honestly when I get speared I end up just taking my hand off the movement keys because it never ends up mattering whether I struggle or not. Even if there's something just slightly to the side to me that I want to fight for, it doesn't matter because when they reel in, you can barely move like 1m to either side, and that's not enough to really do anything.

Like they changed the perk because killers complained about it and now they are complaining about it again?. No offense but the game needs more important changes than a perk. I guess everybody wants the perk to get the Mettle of Man treatment. So far I have never been hit with DS. If I were to get hit by it, it is so easy to counter it. If they run to a locker, eat it up, they will become more weaker in the end game and you dont have to worry about it. Slug them or use BBQ to find other survivors and patrol gens. I am really sick and tired of people jumping from nerfing this to that and besides I am pretty sure the Perk won’t be touched for a long time.
I think it's because they didn't actually remove the things people were complaining about before, they just changed them to different things that are equally as valid to complain about. That's the thing, they changed it yes, but they didn't fix it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not on these forums making constant DS hate threads or anything, but the complaints I see are very valid, and to ignore them is just kinda... ignorant.
-
That's really weird. If that's true it sucks, but wouldn't that have to happen over an extended period of time? How much time would it take for somebody to go up each of the tiers, wait it out, and then get back into another game to disconnect again and get the next penalty, up to 72 hours?
Again, if it's true it sucks, but is there really nothing on your end that's causing it? Even if it's not your internet? I haven't seen any more posts of people complaining about disconnecting than usual.
-
I don't have a particularly bad time against him so I'm not saying this as a complaint or as whining or anything, but I can at least understand why survivors don't like playing against him. There's a pretty narrow window of counterplay against him I feel like. This is just some guesswork, but my thought on it is that people probably see him kind of like Spirit, where there's not a lot you can do in terms of playing against him. It's "just kind of run, and hope you get him to whiff a shot," just like against Spirit, it's "just kind of run, and hope you get her to phase the wrong way."
When I play against him I actually kind of have fun. The one thing I find that some Deathslingers will do is kind of "facecamp" but not by actually face camping you, but by just kind of scanning the area right around the hook because he essentially has a larger effective attack range than a regular M1 killer. Not that only Deathslinger will camp, but he just seems like he can do it in a slightly more annoying way because he can do it from a range, kind of like a Hag (even if he can't do it as far as her).
I personally feel like you can counterplay him in general, but it's not the same reactionary counter you do for a lot of killers, where you try to run the opposite way they do and all that. I feel like it's closer to playing against a Nurse, where you try to predict where she's going to blink before she actually blinks. Against Deathslinger, it would just instead be guessing where he's gonna shoot instead of blink. A lot of the time, even if he's hard to actually completely get away from, I can get him to whiff a lot of shots with one simple trick: running toward a pallet or window or what have you, and right when you would be about to "enter" it (go through the pallet, or vault the window, etc.) just make sharp turn to the side, and often times they will think you're going to go through it and shoot right at the opening to try to hit you. That alone is enough to make some distance, and get some breathing room before his next shot. Obviously switch it up when you can, because you don't want to do the same thing every time and get predictable.
I don't think he's the easiest killer to go up against but I definitely think he gets more crap than he deserves, in more ways than one. I don't own him yet myself but just from playing against him and watching gameplay of people playing him, I can tell that he's definitely a killer than takes a bit of skill to him and I can respect it. Another way he gets unnecessary crap is by people saying he's too weak, too strong, etc. I've seen people argue both, and that's kind of weird. I think it just goes to show what I was saying earlier, how it takes some skill to play him right. Not everybody is going to be able to do it, but the ones who can, or the ones who go up against the ones who can, are definitely going to see the strengths of the killer.

I disagree with removing thrill of the hunt. it slows totems A LOT and not like nurse is some super slow m1 killer, if she knows a totem is being worked on she can at the very least get a hit even if they are just bating you to it. If you do get dev hope working, unless the survivors are really coordinated I doubt they could cleanse it. Might be just me but if i am putting devour hope in a build than it is my win condition and I wanna protect it.
I see what you mean but at the same time, nobody runs Thrill of the Hunt without running another Hex perk, and I feel like Devour works best when you use its element of surprise. Thrill of the hunt kind of just announces "I'm protecting a totem!"
It's not so much that they're bad together but those two things kind of work against each other. Either way, if somebody knows where your totem is because they see it at any point, especially if they're already searching for it, you're going to be given a tough choice if another survivor you're chasing runs away from the totem territory. Then you have to choose between capitalizing on the pressure you have by chasing, or cut your losses and go back to defend your totem. I know she's not exactly the least mobile killer, but she's not exactly at the same speed capabilities as Billy is or anything.
I'm not saying you're incorrect or anything though. If protecting your totem is something that works out well for you, that's awesome and perfectly fine. Just from my experience survivors will just creep around the area and try to spread you thin if even one knows where your hex is. Especially if it's SWF, and they can relay that information to other team mates, God forbid the whole team. I personally just feel like it's too dedicating too much to protect the one perk, and at that point I'd just go run more hex perks. That's just me though.

why blood hound? I feel like most other perks for finding people like whispers or discordance would work better. Granted never really used bloodhound before but i feel like most other perks would work better
My guess is it's just a preference of them for tracking, since it makes blood glow like it's radioactive and makes it stick around for a long time.
The one I'm more confused about is Thrill of the Hunt. I kind of understand it if you want to protect Devour, but a lot of the time I feel like if somebody knows where it is, you have to tunnel them out of existence so they can't break your totem or just pray to the Entity that you cant even make it over to them in time to stop them. I feel like one of the perks could be swapped out for something a little more useful. One example is, I believe Sloppy Butcher has synergy with Bloodhound because it makes them bleed more often, and slows down the rate at which they heal, which would keep them easier to track for longer.

If they added a rejoin feature, so even if a net cut out or whatever causes you to lose the entire game, at least it can give you time to rejoin the game to avoid the dc penalty, also will slightly extend the dc penalty to actual dcs if it doesn’t start straight away
I see a lot of people saying stuff like this: that there should be a reconnect feature. I don't even see what would be the harm in letting people reconnect after disconnecting. It would keep people from being able to DC just to spite the killer and deny him a hook or whatever on top of being more forgiving for people with bad internet. They should have it be like League of Legends does it, where you can't play another game on your account until the game you disconnected from is over, and until it finishes all you get is a "Reconnect" button on your screen.
As for the DC penalties themselves, I'm in the same boat as some of these other people. I'd rather eat a 5 minute soft ban once in a long while and know that people that are really disconnecting on purpose aren't getting to do it anymore. Either way, the thing with most online games, is that you shouldn't honestly be playing a lot of "competitive" ones with poor connection, unless you're just a glutton for punishment. I have almost never crashed in DbD, save for a couple rare times, so waiting 5 minutes if that ever happens again is well worth it.
People still continue to blatantly disconnect. Perfect example, I was playing a survivor game (that wasn't even going that badly) and this Jake on my team just tried killing himself off first hook. I was able to run up and save him as he went into struggle so he didn't just instantly die, and then he decided to just disconnect right then and there being taken off the hook instead.
I'll continue to have this viewpoint until the day that stops.

Well maybe she can only stalk one survivor at a time and like Freddy with the choice of generator you want to teleport to, same goes for Valak with the choice of survivor she wants to try to possess.
Even then I feel like it could be very easily abused. While it's not the easiest task in the game, it's not exactly super hard to stalk multiple people with Ghostface up to 99% or so, even each of them has an individual bar or something. It's not exactly the same for Myers, because Myers "drains" the survivor while stalking to fill up his own power, while Ghostface fills up the bar on the survivors. If it was anything like Ghost Face's (where he can stalk a survivor to the point that it afflicts them with something, even individually) then it would be the most annoying thing to play against a Valak that just stalked everybody up to 99% and went Exodia mode and practically ended the game right there, if nobody had No Mither or Unbreakable.
I mean, I think the idea of stalking to disable somebody in a way, like a weird hybrid between Ghostface and Deathslinger, would be super creepy and fit the theme of DbD, but as I said you'd just have to be really careful with an ability like that. It does sound cool though.

Lol. It's time to delete the game also leave this forum because it seems like the community is just awful. I wanted to share my experience with face camping and how annoying this is to the other people but it seems like with this community nothing will work out and the devs will keep listening to the killer mains and keep nerfing the survivors. Don't bother to even reply on my comment because I won't see it.
I don't even think what that person said is that "awful." Maybe it could have been worded better, but they bring up fair points. If you barely made an account, and you made it only to post about punishing facecamping or whatever, then it's kind of silly. They're right when they say we get a lot of posts like this on the forum, so it's not like we haven't heard it all before.
I don't dismiss your rough game because I hate when it happens too, but you have to just take the emotion out of it and just try to see the points they bring. I mean, if people are being needlessly toxic, then of course they're not going to have any points and they're going to be easy to ignore anyway. But I don't think this person was trying to be mean or anything, it's just kind of silly to make a fresh forum account to post about something that's constantly posted about...
-
If they remember somebody's name it doesn't matter if they can see it before the game starts. They're going to see it when the game starts and still do the same thing.
Anyway, I'm not a fan of the whole "names being hidden" thing. If somebody wants to act like a complete rear end in the end game chat or something, you'd best bet that I'm going to wreck that person's day next time I get to play against them.
That's how it should be. If people don't want to face repercussions for being scummy, then they probably just shouldn't be scummy.
I'm not saying I exactly condone toxic behavior just for the sake of being toxic, but I actually enjoy the fact that there's some sort of reason to deter people from mistreating others.
If you really hate it, just either try not to be a garbage person, or if somebody is actually just being toxic for no reason, just remember it's just a game and you're only gonna be there for a couple more minutes before you can move on. You also could just group with friends so you have a more reliable chance of getting out of being face camped.
IDK... Like I said I don't exactly think people should be going around being toxic, but that goes for either side. At the same time, I don't think people should be acting like a killer can see everything a survivor has... The killer can currently just see that the survivor has an item, and what survivor has it. They can't see anything other than that item and the cosmetics. They can't see add ons, they can't see what tier the item is (so they can't see if a key is a broken one or not for example), they can't see the survivors' perks... Killers are still pretty in the dark in terms of information. They can just see items because it lets them at least prep with a Franklin's or something, but having the killer have an ability that makes survivors just drop the item and they can go pick it up later, isn't exactly as game changing as if all 4 survivors could see that they were going against Doctor, and all decided to collectively run Calm Spirit. Or, if they all could see there's a Spirit and every single player decides to grab Iron Will.
I don't think it's exactly perfect the way things are, and I wouldn't mind even the survivors maybe being able to see the killer's name, but allowing them to see which killer is being played I think is a step too far. It's not like Killers get to see every detail of what the survivor is bringing either. They're practically all just skins of each other.
Anyway, as I said before... For me personally, as long as you're not toxic to me (and I'm very lenient with "toxicity") you shouldn't have to worry about being facecamped or mori'd or anything, and I personally have never encountered being targeted myself and I've been playing for more than just a few months.
-
I agree with PigMainClaudette, there's so many questions to ask with this. Mostly, what happens to the survivors in that alternate state?
Also, that sounds way too OP. When all survivors are possessed, they all go into the dying state. So if she ends up stalking all survivors enough, then she just becomes Exodia practically and ends the game?
-
I mean, when I get slugged I don't enjoy it either, but do I think it should be bannable? Absolutely not. Is it against the rules? Absolutely not.
Facecamping, it's the same. It's not an enjoyable thing to have happen, but if you want to be a team player you can just tough it out and stick around for your team.
-
Queue times all around can be rough. From what I've heard, especially as a low rank killer.

Running both is a extremely good combo. You will get the rescue no matter if the Killer camps or not + you get a Quick Heal for 90 seconds, it's extremely good.
I run both, so I can attest to this. I like the dual usefulness of getting to protect somebody in a tough situation, and also getting to quickly get both of us back in the game (and also have an additional 1 minute and then some to heal other people like crazy).
I wouldn't say it's exactly "underrated" but I think it's more that people just don't really ever want to use it unless they're playing with friends or something. I like being altruistic but after playing solo for so long you start to realize that not that many people are altruistic like that, and will more often than not be practically killing you. I still like the perk though, and I've only ever really heard good things about it when people talk about it, like "man I just love when my team mates run We'll Make It!"
-
What do you mean you "can't practice." Are you not practicing by playing your killer, getting used to how they play, and playing against people who aren't potatoes?
-
Saying "you could say the same about m1 killers such as Trapper/Clown/etc." is simply just watering it down. They actually have playstyles that come with their kits, and I feel like those killers actually have to put in some thinking to make things work for them. Not every survivor is going to be competent but the ones that are, they really make it obvious what weaknesses and strengths they have. Like Trapper, it's not just "he just places traps" and that's it. I mean yea he places traps, but you don't just go placing them around getting free survivors with them, there's a lot of pre-planning, in-chase planning, and "herding" the survivor into a tough spot. They just feel like they have to kind of work to make stuff happen, I feel like that's why it's oversimplifying it to say you could just "say the same about all m1" killers." It's just false that because their main attacks are m1 attacks, that they're automatically comparable.
And the people saying things like "anybody who says otherwise is just crying because they can't play against (killer)" like the one dude earlier in the comments honestly need to sit back and reflect a moment. It honestly just shows that they're the ones incapable of understanding the other side with their thick skulls more than anything. This is coming from somebody who is usually critical of people complaining about things being OP and will play as/against pretty much any killer and not complain. You just make yourself look like a moron when you say "anybody who disagrees with me is automatically (childish insult)." Grow up.
As for my opinion on the Freddy thing, I do think he's boring to play against. Not that I think he's impossible to win against, but as somebody said before, they all just play the same. It's always the same run to a pallet or window, have him place traps around the loops, and then just eventually have him catch up and hit you, blah blah blah. It's not exactly that it's OP or anything as I said, but it's just kind of boring when it's always the same thing. On top of that, as I said before the other m1 killers I feel kind of have to do some setup or work to make their powers useful. With Freddy, it feels like he just kind of has practically everything he needs and doesn't really have to do much for it. The survivors just automatically get put to sleep, you have a practically unlimited range teleport, you can rapidfire place snares without consequence, and to top it all off he has fairly common addons that give him free slowdown that, once again, he doesn't really have to work for because it just happens automatically.
I used to give Nurse a lot of trash before she got reworked, and still some after, but I've started to fall out of the Nurse hating, because she doesn't necessarily have as easy of a time as she did before. The reason I hated playing against her was because against a Nurse that was at all decent, it didn't really matter if you were good or not. She had the classic "omega blink," the equally classic "5 blink Nurse," etc. Especially if she ran other strong things like the old Ruin, it was just a complete feeling of "okay well, guess I'll just kind of let this happen," because there wasn't really anything you could do against it. It was just killer on EZ mode. I don't necessarily think Freddy is as bad as Nurse was before, but after she got hamstrung (and rightfully so) it's just kind of made it that much more obvious how "EZ mode" Freddy is.
Once again, don't try to strawman this whole comment with the typical "just git gud if you can't play against him." As I state above, that's not what I'm saying at all. I just think there's some validity to people calling him boring. If you like playing against Freddy, I can respect that, but I don't understand why people can't just have their opinion on whether or not they think a killer is even boring. To criticize that is pretty sad.

Sorry you misunderstood this.
That was in a cynical context mocking the previous comment who first brought up the whole "stale" thing.
I don't find survivors stale. They are pretty unique to me. So should killers too.
I guess you like to say "not to mention stale" for no reason then. Guess I just misunderstood.
-
As killer, I like to keep pressure so I'll still at least knock the person that got unhooked down. Also, hitting them after they get unhooked is a way to check for Borrowed Time. If the unhooker doesn't have it, and I know they were just unhooking in my face for the sake of doing it, I'll tunnel them to death and teach them not to do it again.
As survivor though, I just let it happen. I'll just take my hands off the keyboard and watch a video for a couple minutes, because I don't really feel like playing a game where I'm facing more than one killer at once.

Survivors never had a direct indicator of the killers ping, only the 'server' (the killers pc) on which it was being run. Literally nothing changed in that regard, although I would like it if all players could see each others ping. Nothing is worse than going against survivors with bad ping as Plague/Hag/Huntress/Deathslinger/Ghostface/Myers and maybe even Demo (don't play him enough to accurately tell, but I've had my lunge 'miss' survivors that I definitely hit).
Edit: Yes, I believe lag switching and connection choking is bannable. But as with all offences, you need video evidence because people are scumbags and abuse the 'report' function.
They did. Before dedicated servers you could see your connection to the killer and know if it's 1k.
I guess I worded it wrong but this is what I'm talking about.

Okay first of all, I never stated survivors are stale. If I did go find it for me cuz u won't.
What I did say was that killer mains complaining that things will get stale is not true since survs are not very unique but plenty of people still play.
"Survivors are technically the same thing altogether (not to mention stale), but they don't fly across maps."
Sorry if I misunderstood this, but that's exactly how it sounds.
Also, as I stated before, people play survivor because they like the gameplay. Almost everybody I've seen speak on the subject agrees that it doesn't make a difference which survivor you pick. That's why I say killers would be "stale." It wouldn't matter which one you pick.
-
I've wanted a similar thing since a long time ago. They always had the struggle phase allow you to just let go any time you want practically so I never understood why not just have the option for slugging.
One thing I will say though, is I don't think slugging is truly holding the game hostage. You will eventually bleed out, so I wouldn't go as far as to say something like that personally.
-
I thought there was a new MoM that was coming out on a PTB or something, because I'm not incredibly up to date on those things sometimes.
I then read this.
Guess I wasn't missing out on anything.
MoM is a weak perk btw, and only really becomes effective when you base your whole build around it. It's just about as OP as Flip Flop.

Oh lord.
I said (A) is a silly argument because (B).
Killers needing to be unique is not that relatable since all survivors are technically the same and u don't see them flying anywhere.
You say that survivors are stale (because they're all the same)
You say killers shouldn't be teleporting, which I'm guessing means you want them all to be similar to each other and be chasing killers, by the way you say it's a "chasing game."
But you don't think killers would be stale if they were all the same? Even though you say survivors are?
Whether you said "(A) is a silly argument because (B)" or not, you're still ignoring the part that I pointed out where you say that survivors being all the same is stale, and the fact that a lot of people enjoy playing killer more specifically because they stand out from each other while the survivors don't. That's why I'm asking these questions. Sounds like you're just saying that survivors are stale and that you want killers to be stale too and that killer variety doesn't matter.
Also, comparing killer being the same / or having the ability to "fly everywhere" to survivor isn't valid. They're two different roles. This game is 1v4, not 1v1.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1256165#Comment_1256165
"if you're not going to explain why I guess we should just drop it."
Here's the answer you probably missed: "flying across maps is idea-wise stupid and should be prevented in a chase game."
It's a CHASE game, not a teleporting simulator.
What's the point in running and CHASING when you can hover/fly/teleport anywhere?
I mean, you do realize the four (especially the Nurse and Freddy) are practically frowned upon by the players to verse against right?
Like I said, the current four can keep their abilities, but more would simply make the game too difficult too counter.
You say it's a silly argument to say "It would make every killer feel stale"
Yet you also say "Survivors are technically the same thing altogether (not to mention stale)"
???
Am I missing something here? Isn't there a reason people just call all the survivors "skins"?

I believe it may come under the heading of 'lag switching'.
Which would still get you banned, no?
Even if it's not bannable, this is exactly why they need to re-implement killer ping indicator. If I see somebody with hundreds of ping trying to connect to the server I'm more than likely gonna just say "yeah, no thanks."
I can't stand going against killers that are constantly from China or some crap where I can pre vault a window as early as possible, get a running head start, and still get downed because the swing at a window, where whenever I'm killer and swing at a window I feel like the survivor practically has to be just going through the window for me to be allowed to hit them. It's just simply not fair that I can't see ######### the killer is even gonna do because it's so laggy.

If you dont cleanse? You're 1 shot the whole game and you have a stridor that can't be countered by iron will.
But if you cleanse? You need to verse a machine gun killer which will probably kill you all in less than 1 min, thanks someone cleansed.
And with the recent build they give her i think she's fine.
Isn't Plague a counter to Iron Will even without Stridor? I thought they puke every so often regardless of if they have Stridor. I don't know much about Plague though, because she's my newest killer I picked up.

I think there should still be moris, but perhaps only allow it on death hook and maybe make it base kit. That way it can just be used like a cool little style points kind of thing.
I've seen this suggested, and I also have seen somebody put out an idea that they could do something similar to, I think it was For Honor, where they have special finishers, and you can get different ones. Maybe have extra mori animations available, so we could perhaps have something like Wraith having more than just pulling somebody by the leg and hitting them a few times in the back. That would be something that I don't think would be too game breaking and is the way moris probably should be anyway. It would be another way to support the developers, and maybe they could implement a couple here and there into the rift pass (preferably free track) instead of filling up so many slots with charms.
I don't know, I just like the fact that there's special kills or whatever in the game. It makes things just a little more flashy. I don't like them being used to just mori off first hook obviously but removing them entirely from the game would be kind of sad.

It's hilarious how many people are saying "Hide or Die" or "Last year" as if respawning hasn't existed in games since some of the oldest games.
Focusing on the actual suggestion, I agree that it might be kind of nice just so you don't get farmed and tunneled off hook. Like, how is the killer supposed to tunnel somebody off hook if they just get hooked, and then respawn elsewhere? On the other hand I can kind of see the concern of "it would take a lot of changing the fundamentals." It might be a wreck. Though, I'm sure many people wouldn't mind a change in the game. With how many people are constantly whining about really simple things...
-
I feel like I'm a simple person when it comes to this stuff.
Something I feel like is obvious: there's already one killer in the match. I don't need additional ones in the form of my team mates sabotaging me (farming off hook, sandbagging, purposefully failing skill checks over and over or rushed vaulting to give away locations, etc.)
Other than that, I feel like people should respect each others' independence to not have to play according to others' demands. People should help unhook and stuff if it's practically no risk to them, but people get way over the top mad just because they got left behind in a rough situation.
One thing that goes for both sides though: if somebody brings BPS, don't just spit all over them by wasting the game. This includes things like: team mates just instantly killing themselves on hook/DCing, killer just camping into a tunnel into a mori off first hook, etc.) I can't say how many times I've brought a BPS and had people just almost act like it made them want to be even more toxic.

They should give the Hillbilly an ability to spit Gum onto other survivors if hit will slow down their movement speed and give them blindness debuff for i dont know 5 seconds. I just really want to see the Hillbilly spit Gum because he recently got nerfed and I think that would be funny if he could do that.
What the hell gave you the idea of spitting gum lmao

I don't think I've ever used it. Not once. I have it but I've just never bothered.
I only say that because I want to make it clear that I know what I'm saying when I say: It does suck. As somebody who plays solo a lot I can't even tell you how many times my own team mates have killed me by farming me off hook without borrowed time, and the killer just lets them do it. Times like that, I find myself really wanting to convert to the "dark side," but I know DS comes with a stigma, and I don't want even more unnecessary tunneling directed toward me just because people don't like my perk.

I know its meaningless, but red rank usually is not something to scoff at. Even when they're not AMAZING the skill difference 9/10 is noticeable. I know they usually just tap gens regardless but still, it'd be a useful change for the bigger maps that won't be changed.
I disagree that red rank is usually something to scoff at. I've seen people in red ranks playing like I'd expect a rank 18. I've thought the players that were high rank I've played with were just mismatched rank 20s, and then I get to the end game screen only to find out they're rank 1. It literally does not matter whether somebody is rank 20 or rank 1, it has no bearing on their actual skill. Sure, newer players naturally are rank 20 when they start out, and more experienced players will tend to be higher rank, but that has everything to do, again, with playtime. Not skill.
I understand if people want to say it's not fair for somebody with like 2 hours to be matched up against somebody with thousands, but honestly the only thing to do about it is to just play better. It comes with time. And just because somebody has a 1 or 2 next to their name doesn't automatically mean they're better and that you have no chance. I have screenshots of games I've wrecked rank 1s and I don't think I've ever even touched rank 1 killer myself, simply because I don't actually play enough killer to pip up to 1.
And I do agree with you though. I don't think it would be the worst change or anything, because it would be something that would give even the weaker killers a better chance, and the stronger killers probably wouldn't even need/utilize it that much anyway. I see it possibly being annoying against Forever Freddy or something, I just wanted to point out in case you hadn't thought of that: gens can easily stop being regressed with a tap.
It wouldn't hurt though.

simple answer no
I have played this game on ps4 for 7 days now hunter rank 14 so why am i playing with survivors that are rank 2,4,8 from the start . I love playing huntress and want to better my skill as a killer ,and finding out about perks having to watching videos read forums and finding out about the game . truth be told i have to play killers i dont like to get teachable perks and having to grind them out or get lucky in the shrine. the game has made it harder for a new players to catch up and if they stick it out they still have to grind days worth for a perk dealing with the toxic behavior of survivors and learning game mechanics all at the same time as well of the ones the game does not teach the player.
Rank is a useless system in DbD and only really represents play time. Anybody can practice and get better, but only those who are more focused on blaming something will complain about rank instead of just trying to play better.
Also, it's never been easier to get bloodpoints. We didn't have tome challenges before, and even before my time of playing, in the oldest days of DbD, the grind was apparently absolutely horrendous. We have it easy now.

"If your team mates quit 30 seconds in and leave you at a 2v1, and you struggle to safety pip in a broken ranking system, you clearly don't belong in the rank you're at that has nothing to do whatsoever with skill and more to do with the amount of time you play."
The logic here, lmaooooo
-
Survivors already just tap a gen to stop the regression the moment they see a killer walk away after kicking it. Adding more regression speed isn't going to make a huge difference as long as survivors keep making a habit of that.
Also, rank is largely meaningless. Just saying.

I'm personally not glad this thread was brought back. I had to witness the mod back-talker guy's complete idiocy and now I feel like my brain cells are dying reading his word salad.
"Does it really matter we have cosmetics now...😑😑"
"Well boo-hoo people are whining about blood on a hat...sigh...😒😒"
What an absolute joke lmao. Well he sure doesn't sugarcoat his stupidity at least.

I've almost never done that, as I only have a few characters leveled up well (Ace and Doctor are the only ones I have prestige 3, with all the teachables for the characters that I have unlocked.) Most of the time I play other characters it's simply because I've been leveling them up and want to use up some of their BP offerings so they don't go to waste when I prestige.
However, I'll make an exception if somebody specifically requests it from me. I don't play with friends much, but for example, I've had 3 Claudettes I paired with urging me to switch over too, so I figured why not? But yea, for me I mostly play just based off what I have on the character, or daily rituals.
-
I don't mean to sound like a jerk but that honestly might be something you might want to personally look into. A lot of games I play, I can see why somebody might find something a little disorienting, like if the camera suddenly jerks in a game or something, but I don't think it's healthy for some of the complaints I see. I see people saying that they're getting massive headaches, or that it hurts their eyes a lot to look at something, or something to that effect.
Once again I promise you I'm not trying to just say "well sounds like a you problem" or anything. I know sometimes things in the game can simply be disorienting, but at a certain point it might be something to look into, ya know?
-
Pretty much of the same mindset as you. If they deserve to be slugged I'm doing it, but if it's a chill game and people aren't being jerks I'll let em just have the hatch, even if I catch them.
-
I'll say the same thing I say about any other voice chat thread: It might be cool just to pacify some of the people that are complaining about SWF being too OP compared to solo or killer or whatever, but I only think it would be a good idea if there was an option to opt out.
I don't want to have to deal with some 16 year old squirt acting like hes 9 and just figured out how to cuss, fresh out of the CoD scene, yapping my ear off while I'm trying to play. Or some person thinking they're hot stuff blasting their rap music over their mic while I'm trying to listen to the damn game.
Also, 2 or 3 meter distance is insanely tiny and the feature would practically be nonexistent at that point. You'd have to be doing ASMR whispering into each others ears. Even Dwight's Prove Thyself perk has a range of like 4 meters, and it only really works if you're sitting on a generator right next to another survivor.
-
Because people who bring one that isn't intended for challenges or daily rituals more than likely just feel like hooking each person twice isn't enough, let alone 3 times, so they have to reduce the amount to 1 per person. That's the only reason I can think that people might just bring a mori and 1 hook kill everybody: they just can't keep up with everyone else. That or they're over-compensating for something...
Not that every killer bringing a mori is like this. I've run against plenty of killers that will hook twice, and only end up using a mori when the survivor would be dead anyway (for the style points or whatever.) That's perfectly fine, but that isn't what the subject here is.
-
I start to wonder where the line is drawn. Like, I've had games where I have a team mate that just sits on a generator near where I'm hooked, like practically right next to me, and leaves me there and doesn't save me until I enter struggle phase, and then farms me off hook right in front of the killer.
I have to assume BHVR are against intentionally killing your team mates, because something like bodyblocking your team mates into a corner and stuff is punishable as far as I know. The thing is, there's times my team mates just assume that I'm going to be saved by somebody else, and stuff like that can't really be helped and I don't blame them. So where is the line drawn?
I'm not trying to say what your team mates did was right to do, because just killing you blatantly is obviously wrong, but it's just a topic that's been on my mind recently. To me, the person on a generator right next to me and the person who unhooked me right in front of an uncloaking Wraith did some completely moronic things, that were easy to avoid and way too obvious, but to them it might not have been. I don't know how it wouldn't have been, but BHVR say it's not against the rules to leave somebody behind. So I find myself asking: where is the line drawn?

I'm probably gonna get hate for this, but I think mostly solo survivor is just UP. I'm not saying there's no advantage to SWF but I definitely feel like there's a lot of information given that people just choose not to pay attention to. Games have always been easier with comms, and DbD is no exception. Considering all this, I feel like solo needs to be buffed more than SWF needs to be nerfed. I really don't like the idea of punishing people just for grouping up. To me, it just seems like a more simple solution to do things like add a totem counter, or make Kindred base kit, or whatever (not that I advocate for any of these things specifically, just ideas like these.) Then neither solos nor SWFs have to feel too punished, and maybe killers could get just a very slight buff to counteract the overall increase in survivor strength from the solo buffs.
