Unbreakble shows Bill on console
Thx for the corrections :)

More: Demogorgon
Less: Billy

I'm not even into that franchise but that cosmetic looks hilarious.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for those rumors of Tony Hawk becoming a survivor to come true.

I don't play console so I wouldn't know. I bought my nephew a copy of the game but for his xbox. He doesn't have a decent PC. I noticed Bill wasn't in the line up back then yet his perks were popping up in the bloodweb.
You're correct, I've seen that a lot. I haven't played console firsthand but I can say I've seen many people say it. Another bit is that while Bill is shown in the perk icons on PC, I believe on console the person in the perk icons is just a generic guy, similar to what you see in No Mither or WGLF.
Also, if we were to have Adam be between Louis or Coach, I'd say Adam is totally more of a Louis kind of guy.

Sure but how often do you even see ultra rare add-ons in matches? And are they really that significant to the matches outcome? For me I never notice them these days except the occasional loot build. Hardly anyone runs ace in the hole, how many times have you seen it used in a match? The slight buff of adding ultra-rare add-ons isn't going to suddenly result in 4 brand new parts every game. It just makes the perk slightly more enticing for the average survivor.
If what you're getting at is that they aren't seen that often, then in my experience yes that's the case. I don't see them that often. The thing is though, I feel like most of the higher cost stuff should be looked as as more of a "treat" that you can use once in a while as a special thing. The reason we see so many killers that get to spam moris is because they're that common. I'm not saying that a mori is exactly equivalent to getting a BNP necessarily, but my point is those high cost items are already pretty common in the blood web in my opinion, and adding another way for people to be able to get them (let alone without having to spend bloodpoints) would make them even more prevalent in my games, and I'd rather not have it that way. As I said before, I feel like items like those should be like special little goodies, and the lower tier items should be the things that people get to bring in more regularly. Even if 1 of those items on a survivor isn't that game-breaking, it would get kind of crazy if you had people come in with a full set of those items, and also be able to find even more of them in the trial.
-
There's too much for me to read between all the replies for how much I care about the topic, but it's just crazy how Huntress is singled out for her addon while there's plenty of killers that have addons that are much more annoying than manna braid.
-
Ace in the Hole already allows you to exit the match while keeping the addons, even if they removed that capability from before. The same way they made Stake Out retain the old great skill check progression bonus. It would be quite ridiculous if people could farm syringes and BNPs and take them out into other games. It's already pretty crazy that you can get purples, like that one key addon that lets you keep the key when you die, or a styptic agent to just randomly tank a hit during the trial.
-
Honestly sometimes you'll just hear a "huhhh" like a breath. It's just something you pick up on if you know what survivors' breathing sounds like. Sometimes I get confused and mistake it for my own killer sounds though.
It also helps to pay attention to crows. If you see one taking off or landing in a spot you didn't go around, you know they're around and you know especially then to listen in around you.
-
I personally think it would be a decent perk if it had a lower cooldown like you're suggesting, as it wouldn't be necessarily OP when the killer can just kick safe pallets to negate the perk. I just don't think tying it to exhaustion is a good idea. A lot, or I guess all of the exhaustion perks pretty much will help somebody gain distance from the killer, and if you become exhausted using AMN and aren't able to use a life-saving perk as a result, it probably wouldn't be that popular. Ya know, since exhaustion perks that exist as of now are already really popular.
-
I understand not wanting to lose your items and all, but if you have so many items from so long ago then what stopped you from prestiging back then if you had any plan to do so whatsoever?
Not directed at anyone specifically, just curious as to the reasoning why people that didn't want to prestige before would now want to.
-
Killers are too obsessed with ranking up or getting a 4k or whatever. This is coming from the perspective of somebody who plays both sides, but killer is far more preferential.
Survivor to me just feels like a slog to play because I play solo except for the rare SWF game, and that's only with a few friends who only game with me once in a while and don't play much games at all anyway, so it's not like it comes anywhere close to the "SWF SWAT" teams. Being exclusively solo practically, it feels like at least half of my games I have either my team mates trying to kill me by farming me off hook or something, or a "sweaty" killer boasting their usual ebony mori and high cost addons trying to mori people off first hook and whatnot. I like the idea of survivor, and I actually thought I would enjoy it more because it's typical to want to be the "power role" and I thought being a helpless little survivor being chased by a killer sounded thrilling, but as you can see my opinions have changed greatly. I just can't get the survivor experience I thought I would coming into the game, at least when I have team mates that are doing things that make me question whether I should report them for it or not.
With killer, I at least get to feel like I'm in control of the game. Even if it's difficult, I can pretty much always feel like there's something I can do to stop the "enemy," and I don't have to rely on team mates (or more accurately, worry about them getting in my way) to achieve that goal. That's mostly why I enjoy playing killer. Plus, there's the obvious factor of each killer actually feeling unique to play, rather than the survivors who are relatively the same.
-
He's saying he got disconnected, and got to play more games without a ban, and then randomly got banned later. I don't see what's so confusing.

Thx for the welcome and I really don't care to paragraph or edit anything. So keep your opinion on my typing to urself cuz idc. Its words...read them. Not difficult. Maybe I will when the killers stop crying for 4ks and the devs stop kissing their butts and the game was balanced but its not. Killers have to get a 4k, everything is in there favor...hatch, gates, hitboxes, and if they don't do good they camp and tunnel and try to justify it...or they lag switch or hack for a win with these so called dedicated servers. This game has been destroyed by the community and the devs. I have gotten alot of people into this game and not 1 will play it anymore... They all say the same thing after 2 or 3 matches of that b.s. they are done. It's sad
Please don't necro a thread from almost a year ago.

I'll try by giving an example
I feel like I can play a really good Pig (SB, CI, BBQ, Stridor).... I can get a 4k
Then I play GF for the first time (1 perk)... also 4k
Is it my skill on the killer... or just skill in general
If you can hop from killer to killer and succeed on many of them, especially without relying on perks, I would say that it's your skill in general. As I said before, it's hard to tell because there could be a number of factors. Each one of the survivors you play against has the potential to be anywhere from potato level to god level, so each of those would probably matter, as well as the decisions you made split-second, in the moment. Some killers obviously take more effort, such as Nurse. You probably couldn't just main Freddy or Clown, and then switch over to Nurse and have instant success if you've never played her. Thing is, if it's anything like the example you gave where you seem to know what you're doing regardless of your perks/killer, then it shouldn't take you that long to build up a little skill even with a killer like that, and you should be fine.
My point is, I've always just felt like personally, I don't care if I'm rank 1 or rank 20, or what anybody says if they want to smack talk my rank. I just know it's one of the most idiotic insults that somebody can toss out, because rank holds no significance when it comes to skill. All I ever consider improving on is my own skill, and I feel like with that, rank comes naturally. That's why I think it's silly for people to just focus on the number as much as they do. As long as you're just good, then it honestly shouldn't matter what ranks you're paired with/against. It just matters how each player performs in the game.
Sorry if it was a bit drawn out for a reply... I don't really know how to put it concisely, and I'm trying to be careful not to sound like a jerk too much.

Then why the hell does the game have a ranking system in the first place?
Well I don't have the answer to that. As I said, it's an indicator of how much time somebody plays, so at the very least there's that. All I know is that in this game, the ranking system really doesn't mean much.
-
Nurse does "still have the most potential" and anyone who says she isn't "the best killer" is either a survivor main or has never gotten good on Nurse. EVER.
DS is problematic.
Rank doesn't actually have an impact on what happens during the game.
It's okay to try to have fun in DbD and you shouldn't have to tie your enjoyment to the game to how many kills you got or whether you pipped or not.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
Would you say there is a difference between someone playing there best killer/build and playing a new killer/build?
I would need you to elaborate on that. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that.
Just in case I do understand, based off what I'm guessing, if somebody is playing a killer they already know, and have a certain build that they're used to using, then depending on the character they should be able to get roughly the same results. I really depends on how good or bad the builds you're talking about are. Like if you're using perks like Cruel Limits and Iron Maiden then it's probably not going to be as good, no. If you choose better perks, then you're probably going to do a little better. As I said, it depends on a lot of things.
Anyway, I'd just need you to elaborate a little on that.

The impact in the game is having both terrible and good people in rank one means there is no such thing as matchmaking. Every survivor no matter how pro or how bad gets just slammed into every newbie without thought. There's a reason matchmaking exists in games. You don't put challenger players in league against iron league potatoes and expect the irons to have any sort of fun. Often lower ranks in most games are also filled with people with worse hardware that puts them at a disadvantage on top of any skill differences. It's not even a game when people of such vastly different ability are just thrown willy nilly at eachother. DbD is completely missing matchmaking in its entirety and THAT is the problem. You are willfully blind if you can't comprehend this.
You explained exactly why I think rank doesn't have an impact on the game in your very post here. "Having both terrible and good people in rank one means there is no such thing as matchmaking." Sure, have a problem with that if you want, but that's on BHVR, not me. They themselves say it's not indicative of skill. Somebody complaining about going against red ranks doesn't mean anything because even potatoes can get to red ranks, especially if they game the system.
I don't feel like rank has any impact on what happens in the game precisely because of what you described. The topic of the post isn't "matchmaking exists or not." The topic is about constantly going against red ranks. Which, as you said, they can even be terrible.
I have no idea what you mean by "willfully blind." You're hilarious in your attempts to call me that, while also completely missing the point of what I said and/or just being purposefully disingenuous for the purpose of being "willfully blind," as you put it. Nice strawman though.
-
I miss him too. He had to have been in my top 3 favorite Youtubers to watch. :(
-
I say when you play with your friends just don't go fully stacked or anything. You don't have to feel guilty about just playing well, but since you say you go against inexperienced players when you group with your buds, I'd say as long as you don't go and try to bully the killer by acting toxic or just bringing DS and bullying him with it, then you probably shouldn't feel bad. The job of the survivors is to survive anyway.
-
I'm surprised you didn't mention his addons that can reduce his terror radius even further while he's aiming. At that point, he's practically got no terror radius. Either way, addressing the whole "fairness" part of the post, I don't think it's exactly "unfair." It's not all the time that they're going to get a map with a lot of line of sight blockers, and the Deathslinger is pretty tall so it's easy to see him coming if you're in a decently open area.

Except it's simply not true.
Yes, you can have "smurf" type people at lower ranks, and you can have people not having a good game at a red rank. That's true for every game.
But to claim that there's just no average difference between a red rank and a rank 20 because, "It's just how long you play" is absurd. There's absolutely going to be a significant difference in consistency of good play.
Is the ranking system particularly accurate? Not really. But if someone can't play well enough to pip their way out of rank 15, they're sure as hell not "Just as good as a rank 1 because rank means nothing".
I didn't say there's no average difference. I said rank has no actual impact on what happens in the game. Nowhere did I say "there's no difference between a red rank and a rank 20 survivor."

Rank absolutely is impactful.
I know it's trendy for people on the forums to say, "Haha, rank 1 is the same as rank 20, no difference, nothing to see here." but anyone who actually plays the game knows that it's bull. Rank might not mean much when looking at smaller differences, but the huge gaps we see in matchmaking absolutely do make a difference.
If you're a new killer going again red ranks, you're going to get absolutely destroyed. Not only that, the red ranks will likely be penalized as well.
It's silly. Matchmaking exists in PvP games for a reason.
No, it's not said because it's "trendy." It's because it's true, and even the devs have said the only thing it represents is how much playtime somebody has put in. If somebody wants to do something about rank disparity, they can at least do themselves a favor and try to get up to purple ranks or whatever to see for themselves that it doesn't make a difference.
Obviously if you're a new killer going against red ranks you'll be destroyed, but that's how it goes. If you're bad, and the other players are good, you're going to not do well. That's why the solution is to get better. Again, I'm not saying that it's a perfect system, but higher rank does not automatically equal skillful player, so to try to use that to justify somebody having an "unfair match" is the silly thing. Not the matchmaking or ranks.

Maybe you don't care about the number next to your name.... but others do
That's all I'm saying
No, I'm not trying to say that people don't care about it altogether. I'm saying that it's not really impactful to the game, so a lot of complaints about the matchmaking/rank right now are just kind of... pointless I guess?
-
I can appreciate the change in gameplay style, and for that I enjoy it, but I personally don't really enjoy playing against it. I like the potential it has, but often times when I go against a Michael using it, they just kind of use it to tunnel somebody (usually me) and not leave them alone. It's fine because he's not the most powerful killer in tier 1, but it's still not exactly the most thrilling experience when I'm never really left alone and I have a Michael that's constantly just waiting around corners for me to stand still and then walk after me. Not to mention, almost every time I play against this build, the Michael is always bringing a Lery's offering, so there's practically no line of sight to see him.

Cause ppl bring up their own rank to solidify their opinions on the game
And I don't understand this. Take this game for example:
good clown game (no names).pngI played the killer that's viewed by many players as the worst, if not one of the worst. I didn't run "meta" perks, and the worst you could say about the game is that I had purple addons. This isn't the only game I've had like this either, I go against high ranks all the time even though I'm usually not a red rank killer. I've seen a decent amount of people making matchmaking complaint posts about rank differences like this (around rank 8 or 9 going against a team of red ranks.) If rank matters so much, and matchmaking pairs people up with others that are so much better, so much that they can't learn the game, then how am I still able to beat these teams without going in with a fully stacked setup?
Oh right, because the number next to my profile doesn't matter. What happens during the game is what matters.

"Quarantine and YET NO double bloodpoint (at least not that often)"
Is at best whinily asking for more, and at worst subtly saying "why tf don't we get more".
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/382/20200513_101946.jpg
My logic is fine. I don't see the point or benefit to the conversation of you falsely accusing me of being "cringe" by using a word correctly.
No. Just because somebody asks for something doesn't mean they believe they are "inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment."
Tell me where exactly the OP said something about "deserving" it, and maybe you'll have a case. Otherwise, you're just being blatantly cynical, and once again, your logic is wrong.
-
I feel like it's a waste not to use them, so usually if I don't, it's just because I forgot/had to get up to do something.
I'll say though, I know what you mean. I've had several games where I'm literally the only person to burn an offering, and I'm wondering what all the other players are doing with theirs. xD

Oh wow nice comeback. I rarely play this game anymore and still cap out at a million every other week. It's not hard.
But show me where my logic is false?
Because the complaints stem from not having more bonus bp since were quarantined. I stated that since that is the case, and were not supposed to go out, you should already be earning more.
Oh, that's right, you can't. Because its correct. And the only thing you can do is try to attack someone else when you dont have an actual response.
Bad attempt though, considering I, like many others, DO have a life and dont play DBD/troll its forums 24/7.
Or is is that you're just one of those ungrateful children and dont like being called out?
Your logic went wrong the moment you called somebody "entitled" for wanting something. Much overused word.
Not "taking a side" here because I couldn't care less about the bonus BP topic. Just kinda cringe when people overused that "entitled" word.
-
But why does it matter what the number next to their profile says? The way I see it, in DbD the ranks don't mean anything. A player is either just gonna be better than you or not. What difference would it make if there were 20 ranks or 5 ranks?
-
@MadArtillery said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1274397#Comment_1274397
Rank has an impact because some who hits 1 every season easily is probably more experienced than a rank 10 killer still learning the game. It's why people get so pissed about this aweful matchmaking. There essentially is no matchmaking currently, it's just a crapshoot and just telling people like the op to 'git good' isn't going to work if they are getting curb stomped too bad to learn anything.
Then it's on the person who doesn't rank up as much to improve. That doesn't mean there's nothing wrong with the system. I'm not even trying to defend the matchmaking, but look at the rank difference there. I'm about the same rank as killer as of right now and I go against teams like that all the time and do fine. My rank doesn't hold me back from still doing well in a game, it's all about what happens in the moment, during the game. That's what determines a win usually. And yes, while I'm not saying "git good" necessarily, I am saying that it's good to go against people who know how to play. Nobody is going to learn anything by playing against potatoes.
I don't mean to discourage somebody and just sound like I'm saying "git good" or whatever, but the reality is, and the devs even have stated this, that ranks aren't indicative of skill, just how much time somebody puts into the game. If people want to ease the pain of going against higher rank players, the best way is to join them and learn how to play against them. It's not meant to be offensive.
-
Yes it's been mentioned many times.

Were your teammates injured or healthy, and were they even visible to the Freddy?
If you are referring to when I was hooked to be put into struggle phase, I was on one end of the map and pretty much everybody else was a pretty far range away, at least far enough to be detected by BBQ. Everybody but me was healthy. Nobody made it super obvious they were coming, in my opinion. Zarina came pretty quickly but she was being careful (walking) and trying to hide behind things. Fred just happened to be checking around the area like I said and ran into her, so she ran, and Jake saw that and start coming over. Fred dropped chase, probably because he was expecting somebody to come once another person got hit, and like I said he just went straight for me as I got unhooked and put me right back up for the 3rd time.
So they were all healthy, being relatively careful, and no they wouldn't have been visible to Freddy by line of sight. Only if you're counting being seen by BBQ because as I said, when I got hooked they were all a decent distance away (and Fred could have easily gone after one of them with how he can TP to any unfinished gen.)
-
@CosmicParagon said:
How are you still getting caught? Surely if you're being tunneled every other game you should be in chases the majority of the time. So why are you so bad at looping that you still end up dying?
I've complained about tunneling but it's usually a combined act between my team mate and the killer. Just today I had a game against a Freddy where I got found near the beginning, only got to work a little on a gen before I had to start running. I ran and looped him a little, but then when I pallet stunned him, he landed on the side I was on, so I vaulted over, and then he literally just rubberbanded back. Then of course he downs me and hooks me. Then, as I get unhooked he's coming back my way, so I'm already having to get back on the run because he ignores my team mates and goes for me. I get to the opposite end of the map where he finally just spams snares around a pallet and downs me from that of course, for a 2nd time. So while I'm struggling, the Fred just patrols the area and ends up catching a Zarina that came after a little bit, and starts chasing her. A Jake also saw she started getting chased, so he too tried to come over to me and unhook me before I got sacrificed, but Freddy just came right back once again and Jake unhooked me right in front of him. Not sure he had much of a choice anyway, but he didn't bother taking a hit so once again Freddy just downs me a 3rd time, picks me right back up, and I'm out of a game where all I did is just run around and get chased down by the killer, not to mention a boring killer.
I don't just complain about tunneling just because I can't loop or anything because I can, but it's just so boring to just not be left alone for even a second, and get all the killer's attention, while the team mates just kind of get to run around and do whatever. I'm not saying that I have no impact of the game because of course I do, but with how boring it is I think it's kind of obvious why I'd complain in a situation like that. It's not unfair, just stupid to go against. Especially when I only get to get hooked twice or even only 1 time before dying because the killer just won't leave.
Not everybody who eventually gets downed is "bad at looping."
-
No. People who say they are most likely are just whining for their favorite role's sake.
Note: I say most likely. Of course there's people who will have legitimate points, but most people I see saying that are just saying it for the sake of saying it, and saying the devs favor the opposite "side."
-
What was he even doing?
-
I did. You told him that he's the reason, and I'm telling you, you and the other people that feel like you can quit the game whenever are the reason anybody quits. Because you can't handle your own frustrations.
So you go see what I've already said.
-
Sorry you're not having fun, but it's kinda subjective.
-
I'm totally for it too, but the one thing I kind think that would be a problem is the same problem they have with detecting genuine internet outages and intentionally disconnecting from the game.

Farming is against the rules and bannable if not everyone in the game wishes to farm. I'm not sure why you would think it's allowed as it's always been against the rules of the game...
I'm pretty sure it's against the rules to force somebody to farm with you. As in, the killer and one survivor are working together to get points off another survivor. I've never heard anywhere that it's against the rules to farm in general. If you don't want to farm, nothing's stopping you from doing your gens and leaving.
I'm not saying it's a perfect scenario, but I just don't recall ever hearing it's against the rules, as long as you're not just holding somebody hostage and forcing them to farm.

Weird, because for me I don't jump back to the window usually. With or without the perks. Usually I just vault through a window and get hit regardless of if I already started running away from the window or not.

Static Blast is so easy to avoid. If you're already well within his terror radius maybe it's not as easy, but even within his terror radius you can hop into a locker. A lot of the time you can hear when a Doctor is getting near unless he's running a low terror radius build, in which case Static Blast isn't nearly as threatening. If you hear him getting near, and you haven't heard him Static Blast recently, just try to stay at the edge of his terror radius, and when you hear him charge it, sprint directly out of it and you won't get hit. I've used this trick and avoided many a blast. Also, you just get a location indicator when you shock somebody. I'm pretty sure you have to put on a certain addon in order to get an aura reading ability, and it's when you level up the survivors' madness tier.

What seems to be the problem?

I'm assuming you're not counting Billy, but he's a killer that's quite fast. One of the fastest, or maybe just the fastest killer in the game. Oni too, but you said you have him.
As for others, I'd have to give an honorable mention to Spirit. She's not exactly the fastest with her base power, but even a few speed or duration addons for her power can get you from point A to point B pretty good. Plus Spirit in general is a good killer. One more I can suggest, although this is a licensed killer, is Freddy. He's not exactly "mobile" like Billy or Oni is, with how Billy and Oni can run around, but he's still really easy to get places with since he can teleport. Freddy is also a strong killer like Spirit, so both would be worth considering if you ask me.

Know what else ruins the game, a lot worse? Players purposely disconnecting in the middle of it just because they feel like it.
It should not be capped at 30 minutes or even 1 hour, it should extend to 24 or 48 hours. A week, or even a perma ban if they have to. Whatever gets people to stop blatantly disconnecting as you claim to have, I'll take that penalty.
If you paid for a multiplayer game, no that doesn't automatically mean that you get to just do whatever you want. You can pay to get into a fancy restaurant but if you act like a complete trash can once you're in there, they have every right to kick you out if they want. If you have commitment problems, or so many things out of your control that you can't settle down and sit through one game of something, then you probably should be sticking to single player games, where you can quit whenever you want.
You say it yourself: you know it can affect the other players in the game. So why do it? The only answer I can think of, other than an extreme emergency like a natural disaster or somebody giving birth or something, is selfishness.
I don't like hearing that other people aren't enjoying the game, but there's certain things you need to really take a step back and examine. You might not realize why they can't "just fix it" by giving other players extra bloodpoints, or taking away a gen that needs completing, or whatever, because you're a new player. But as I said, you just need to take a step back and look at why things might be the way they are. Just like the DC penalty is the way it is, because people can't get it through their head that you shouldn't randomly quit in a loosely team based game.
