Because I have no experience with romance and so anything I did write would probably just come off as two friends that are under the persistent recurring delusion that they are a couple. Also I don't have friends so that would also come off as two massive introverts with social anxiety under the delusion that they are two friends under the delusion that they are a couple. Also anything I wrote would probably devolve into existentialism halfway through and be really hard for anyone who does not read stream of consciousness to follow. I'd also inexplicably start from the Entities perspective and do a very repetitive essay on why the Entity has no clue what it's doing. Then I'd proceed to write Huntress as best girl despite her not even being the focus of the fic. Yui would just be Johnny Bravo in a Yui costume. The Clown/The Entity would be a pairing. Chris would try to get Claire and Leon to continue the Redfield bloodline. Philip and Evan would have a bromance that borders on a secondary OTP. Dwight would be competent. Myers would be just standing there menacingly in every scene like Where's Waldo but slasher character and you'd have to pay attention to subtle writing cues to realise he was there. Basically it would be an ADHD riddled mess of memes and stream of consciousness that would totally forget it was supposed to be a Nea X Wraith shipping fic.

    JOHNNY BRAVO!!!!

I'm Dying. Thank you. Please continue.

Ha! This is definitely the most entertaining thread I've ever come across on the DBD forums XD

I laughed so many times just trying to understand what the hell is going on..

Can someone please explain to me what "Shipping" is? What the heck does "Ship Jake" mean lol

So confused but yet so funny sounding.. I've been really enjoying reading the comments, clueless over here.

Sometime you know how matchmaking works. and i feel bad for the killer. But giving them a kill by pointing at hook or waiting for EGC to die is it something they like? -similar to giving survivor hatch- or that make them feel even worse?

Want to know your thoughts on this.

I practice Killers that I've never played before at Rank 1 all the time, this is simply because I play my Main Killers often enough to consistently be Rank 1... however, when I practice the Killers that I am trying to learn, lately it's been Nurse, Blight, Trickster, Nemesis etc..

I get WRECKED by Survivors ALL the time. Typically it ends up being 4 Escapes, depip, with only a few Hooks the entire match.. usually like 1-3 hooks before they finish all the gens lol.

So far, lets say in my last 200 matches, I've never, not even ONCE, had a Survivor in these Red Ranks offer to give me a Kill. Honestly, I'm not even sure if it will ever happen, no matter how poorly I play and how hard they destroy me, I seem to just get constantly T-Bagged, Flash Lighted, Body Blocked, Flashbanged, Palleted, pretty much anything you can possibly think of they'll do to make my life as difficult as possible...

When I am CLEARLY playing a Killer that I am brand new to, with like 2 hooks when 5 gens are completed lol. Never makes a difference, it's always sweaty try hard / toxic Survivors..

But to Answer your Question... Yeah, it would probably make me feel A LOT better actually if even ONCE a Survivor just got themselves Killed purposefully at the end of a match where they outplayed me that hard..

I mean, it doesn't hurt my pride at all, I know I lost fair and square and so do they, I would just consider it a nice gesture.. I would imagine it being like facing a team that did so good against me that they actually started to feel sorry for me halfway through the match so by the end of the match they let me get a Kill or die intentionally or something..

I would appreciate the kindness despite knowing my own failure very well.

Based on my Experience so far, I don't think this will ever happen though.

  • @jester20k said:

What I don't appreciate is the cheap vault/pallet body blocking wraith get away with now because they're so fast. Also really sick in general of killers being able to body block pallets, it makes no sense.

I don't know, I play Wraith at Rank 1 and it feels like every single Survivor actually knows how to use his weakness against him.

All Survivors have to do is stand still at the Vault or Pallet and wait for the Wraith to Uncloak. If you or any Survivor tries to Run or Loop him while he's cloaked that's the problem. You'll never outrun him when he's cloaked, just find the nearest pallet or vault and stand underneath it until you see him start uncloaking.

Then either Drop it on him for an extra long stun while he's uncloaking, or Vault over and by the time he uncloaks you are already away and can loop him like a regular M1 Killer - repeat the process if he Cloaks again.

Survivors that know how to deal with him can literally infinite loop him if he doesn't manage to catch them off guard - and that's the whole reason he has to play sneaky to get hits. Vaults and Shack can literally destroy a Wraith, or a good L T also wrecks him.

    ALSO

Please Don't Forget how FLASHLIGHTS can actually completely screw Wraith over, VERY EASILY at that. And at Rank 1 I seem to notice that there are AT LEAST 1 or 2 Flashlights in every single match, with users that actually know how to not only blind you with it but take you out of stealth and stun Wraith. I think he's the ONLY Killer in the game that can be completely stunned and stopped by using a Flashlight, without even having to Blind + they can Blind on top of that too....

And now Flashbang and Blast Mine ALSO have added effectiveness against Wraith.

Flashbang barely has to be in range at all of Cloaked Wraith and it will completely Stun them and take them out of stealth. It's actually super messed up, I have seen the Flashbang dropped before and immediately turned around into a different direction while running Windstorm Addon & Cloaked and still couldn't get out of the blast radius - it completely melts Wraith.

Similar with Blast Mine - which is not counter-able ability at all if the Killer has to Kick a Gen. I kick Gens while I am cloaked with Wraith all the time, if they happen to have Blast Mine, then I will not only get blinded and stopped by the blast, but I will also be stunned in addition to that and lose my Cloak which wastes even more time.

I don't mean to be rude, and I know I'm only hurting myself as a Wraith player but trying to help explain these methods above for facing against him, but the bottom line is that he is still VERY weak compared to many many other Killers when it comes down to facing Survivors that actually know how to deal with him.

If you have a problem facing Wraith, more than likely you are just a Survivor that has not learned how to play against him properly yet. This is probably partially due to the fact that before his buff NO ONE, (except for me and a handful of others) probably played him, so most Survivors couldn't get the experience they needed to learn how to play against him.

Now he's definitely in a little better place, and more people are starting to use him so he's terrorizing more Survivors than usual.. but once Survivors learn his ways it's really not that hard.

My suggestion - and probably the best way to find out how to play against Wraith or any other Killer for that matter - is to PLAY that Killer yourself. Play him and find out what other Survivors are doing and using as tactics to get away from you on that Killer... you'd be surprised what kinds of crazy stuff you might pick up.. and most of the time once you learn how to do it yourself, it ACTUALLY does work.

That's why it is important to play both Killer and Survivor in this game, you can learn SO much from the players that you face. ^^

  • I actually just faced a 4man Red Ranks SWF Team that ALL knew the map layout perfectly and where all the best loops were... they played EXTREMELY Effective...

To be honest I think the map is really cool looking and I love the feel of it from a visual perspective -

However, PLAYING on it is a total Nightmare.

I actually think it's a better map for Survivors than Killers personally , but I think it's quite horrible for both. It's VERY difficult to find the direction you are trying to go, I suppose once people get more used to it though maybe that will change..

I just played a game where a survivor would jump into a locker. I literally watched with my very eyes as the survivor got into a locker. And I would open the exact locker that I SAW THEM GET INTO. When I opened the locker, they were just gone. Vanished into thin air. That is cheating or a very nasty bug. The description of Deception says that no scratch marks are left when dashing into a locker or whatever, but it never said anything about the survivor completely vanishing. While this may be fine and dandy for the survivor, it caught me off guard and I was getting really pissed off. The players insisted that this is how Deception is supposed to work and they didn't understand why I saw what I saw. However, what I witnessed was a total hack/bug/exploit. This is Dead by Daylight, not David fricking Copperfield. Please explain this voodoo.

    Ummm

So Deception leaves no scratch marks, yes..

But the Survivor ALSO doesn't get into the Locker that they flip open, you do know that right?

The way the Perk works, you run by a Locker and swing it open giving a loud notification and the locker doors also swing open AS IF you got inside of it - and then you just keep running away around a corner because you stop leaving scratch marks for around 3 seconds or so.

Then if they have Quick & Quiet for example, they can hop into a different locker quickly without giving any notification whatsoever.

It's how the Perk "Deception" is intended to work - therefore the Killer being "Deceived".

I could be wrong, maybe you 100% saw the Survivor get inside and it was truly a hack or exploit, however, the way you explained it just sounds like Deception to me honestly.

Oh, and also: If you have DBD on one account leveled up on playstation, you can make another account and it'll be brand new, rank 20, but with all of your DLCs. Just in case you want to start playing on PS5. You'll have to use this if cross progression becomes a thing, as the game will kick you if you play it on more than one system at the same time

Ohhh wow that's interesting thank you for that added bit of information!! Very helpful <3

  • Does that mean...

At least, would it potentially be possible to play together with my girl if she is playing on my PS5 and I am playing on my PC?

    First, I have only played nurse maybe 5 times and that is because for me it is humiliating ;_; I am down for practicing (that is how you get better) but every time I have tried her I get taunted and even mean messages after the match. Why can't I just play a new killer without being hated? I seem to have bad luck regarding survivors with her ;_;

But yah, even on my strongest killer I mess up from time to time but that doesn't bother me. If I get 1 or 2 hooks and the survivors were all good then I am happy! I don't take loses seriously. Its a game.

Last nights game just made me feel like whats the point? Which is rare, I usually don't get down when playing. I see a ton of forums on her about killers needing to play fairly and such so I was curious if on the survivor end people felt new/ learning killers should be treated nicely.

Thank you for your comment ♡ Keeping working on your nurse. She is my one of my favs to go against ^^ A good nurse gets the blood pumping!

Thanks man, I like your attitude, but yeah to be honest.. at least in Red Ranks, there's no point in expecting any Survivors to "play nice" it just doesn't happen. I mean, it's not impossible, but I've pretty much never ever seen it before.

  • @FancyMrB said:

I am not a very good killer ^^" By that I mean I am not very good at playing them, but that doesn't stop me! I am just here to have fun and enjoy playing both sides.

The tldr; learning Nemmy - got stomped by swf - not being toxic and clearly learning - title question.

Anyways I am learning to play Nemesis so I guess you can say I'm extra bad right now hahaha. I got into a match which I assume was a swf and 3 gens were done before I got my first down. No worries its just practice.

I go to hook that survivor and 2 other survivors come and body block the hook from me. By the time I got to the hook and punched them each once the other survivor wiggled free. Clicky clicky but dance ensued. Oof. Felt bad.

I wasn't being toxic, I even brought cake, and it must have been clear that I wasn't very good :P So why the body block? Worst case I would have gotten 1 more survivor hooked. It was clear they were the winners. Plus, don't we all get more bloodpoints for hooking and unhooking?

Anyways, I see a lot of 'killers suck and play toxic' threads and wanted to share my match experience. When I play my stronger Killers I adjust my play depending on the survivors. If there is a DC then I play extra soft so the match can go on but its not a steam roll. You get my point ^^

So my question is, as a Survivor do you ever dial back your play style if you notice a Killer is new/ learning? Or do you feel you always gotta be kicking but and going full throttle since there are a lot of toxic killers out there?

(I am not saying body blocking is bad btw, it has a time and place, but after that experience the match was done for me. The 4th gen popped and they made it clear hooking wasn't going to happen so I went to admire the zombies (which are totally wonky btw ^^"))

    Thanks for reading!

From my own personal experience playing Killer ... There are no friendly Survivors.

During the Event I decided randomly that I would like to learn how to play Nurse, I tried her once like 3-4 years ago around the first time I started to play DBD and I really hated her, but I figured now that I'm a Rank 1 Killer I can try to give her a try again and maybe it will go better.

I've now played probably around 50 matches with Nurse starting at Rank 1 since the Event started, using a Sacrificial Cake for BP boost every single round. I've deranked down to about Rank 6 multiple times, then I get my Rank back up playing other Killers when I finally get fed up...

HOWEVER, the point is, your story is exactly true to my experiences which is why I felt the need to comment:

I CANNOT EVEN BEGIN TO TELL YOU how clear it is that I am a TOTAL noob Nurse player, I mean I literally miss my Blinks point blank over and over again every single match, and one single Survivor can Loop me often for 3-5 gens...

You know what has happened to me a TON of times?

First of all, I get completely Gen Rushed, they don't even bother cleansing a single totem (I'm not using any Hexes)

Then, EVEN if I actually got my FIRST down AFTER all 5 gens have popped (which has happened to me many times now because how bad I am) they will use Flashlights, Flashbangs, and Bodyblocks to prevent me from even managing to get a SINGLE hook.

You know what, I don't even mind only getting 1 hook an entire match if that's the one person I've been chasing the entire game and finally downed them.. but when they rob me of even that small bit of pleasure so I can't even get a single hook and they all escape? Well..

That's when after a few matches I decide to hop on one of my Main Killers and get a 4K +2 pip 32k bp game. lol

I honestly don't know what the reason Survivors have (even when there are 4-5 Sacrificial Cake Offerings Active) to Bully a Baby Killer. I mean, if they just play around with me a little bit more and actually let me get some hits in, they'll still probably escape AND they'll get more BP too by doing so.

  • @SacrilegeGG said:

Indeed — that's why we have tier grids which combine strength and difficulty. Blight, for example, is very strong for those skilled with him, but first-timers are going to struggle.

    e.g.,: https://sac.gg/killers

Dude that tier list is actually pretty neat, thanks! haha.

  • I actually whole-heartedly agree, I'm not really sure I understand the reasoning as to why we can't disable the chat censor.. in any other game I think I have ever played there was always the option... regardless of ESRB rating btw (cause I saw someone mention that)

I don't swear so the censor doesn't bother me in that way, what is extremely frustrating about the censor is that it seems constantly be censoring words that aren't actually bad words.

For example: JUST in this last match lobby I hate now...

A survivor complimented my horrible nurse practice and I tried to write:

    "I did horrible, but ty!"

It came out as "I did horrible, *** **!" - which actually made it look like I was trying to be an ass and talk smack, even though I was legitimately trying to thank the person.

This is just one example, literally "But, ty" was censored. This happens to me all the time, and I'm not trying to say anything rude. It's very annoying and I think it gives people the wrong impression of me.

  • I would really like to support and would definitely use a Training Mode for Killers against bots...

One of the main reasons I don't play "other" Killers that I would like to try and enjoy playing as is because I am Rank 1 Killer and whenever I play a Killer that I'm not familiar with or used to I just get completely crushed by Red Rank Survivors that also enjoy T bagging and being Toxic at the end of the match making fun of how bad I played..

It's just not a pleasant experience, and to be honest, it is VERY Difficult to learn how to use a Killer and their Power Correctly when the Survivors are so good that you can't even get a single down.

Sometimes when I'm trying to test and learn a new Killer I literally only get 1-2 downs the entire match before its over, it's just not fun at all, really feels like diving in the deep end.

Training Mode would at least let me get my "bearings" as people like to say before I wanna go test a Killer in Red Ranks live vs other players.

Even then the zombies are heavily RNG. They can either be the sole factor carrying you through a match, or the dumbest things in existence.

I literally am about to down a Survivor (who isn't Contaminated) and they RUN INTO a freaking Zombie and get a Speed Boost right in front of me and get away from me and start a new loop. Happened to me in a ton of my matches tonight, it was such BS lol, the Zombies were actually SAVING the Survivors straight up.

The other thing that happened is the Zombie blocked my path to a Gen that I had to kick with Pop after a hook, it was last gen in a 3gen situation and had I reached it in time I would have actually been able to possibly win the match, but the Zombie was in my way and I had to waste time killing the Zombie to get my path clear to the gen, and I was just a second too late to get to it and it popped.

Another example where the ZOMBIE actually helped the Survivors escape more than they helped me, and in fact they wouldn't have probably escaped if it wasn't for the zombie lol. Like c'mon :(

    Yeah true.

It would also solve some annoyances on the killer side.

DC's during adepts or dc for hatch.

It would be a win win for both sides

I agree with this from both sides!

But really I love water and the beach vibe in games and if the devs could make a beach or a tropical island without oversaturating it with too much brightness I'm there every single time. Ill pay 20 bucks for a beach map with a beach Doctor skin.

The doc skin is simple his head has goggles for swimming with a little sunscreen on his nose, his weapon is an umbrella, and his lab coat is now a tropical shirt its unbuttoned and he is wearing swimming trunks with flip flops. Best skin.

    OMFG

YES! Hahaha, I totally agree with everything you stated, even the "which would never happen" part, but it's too bad cause I am 100% right there with you lol... even if your losing the match, whatever, just go enjoy the water :P haha, but yeah there would be a lot of "roleplay" options for side fun, and I think water can look really neat in games like you pointed out too. That's a GREAT Doctor skin, I am really enjoying the idea of different Survivor / Killer skins that are summer/beach/bathing suit oriented, lots of thoughts going through my head lol.

I mean just in general more maps would be nice that aren't realm specific. I genuinely hate how new maps tend to be 5 subtle variations of each other. I would rather BHVR go all out on 1-2 maps each update. Lery's is a good example of this.

Yeah that would be really cool if they just did all out new maps less frequently instead, although I guess many ppl are saying that the new Resident Evil map is very true to the game. That's possibly one example of them trying to do that, but I would love to see more, and more variety of styles.

Why not? There are a lot of opportunities for cool, unique maps. I think that map diversity is one of this game's biggest strengths and I'd like to see more of it.

    • Cemetery (This should be obvious)
    • Creepy mansion / estate
    • Abandoned mine
    • Derelict railyard (train cars)
    • Construction lot
    • Deep woods (not just some trees here and there, I mean DEEP woods. Canopy, etc.)
    • Summer camp
    • Apartment complex
    • Hotel
    • Lakeside
    • Empty city streets (28 Days Later, I Am Legend, A Quiet Place)
    • Morgue
    • Underground tunnels (Session 9)
    • Hedge maze
    • Park / playground

Wow! You've really put some thought into it, I love all the suggestions! :D

Some of those I think would be REALLY cool.

  • @BingBongMan said:

Tropical would be a neat theme, but it couldn't be too brightly colored. DBD is usually about darker colors, with some cosmetics ( and one killer ) bringing some brightness to the game.

Agree! I would imagine they could do it sort of balanced in color, maybe some things that are pretty but others darker jungle vibe or something, maybe a Hotel, some Cabanas, Beach Huts with windows to vault etc. :P see, so many possibilities!

  • @Mooks said:

i thought the vacation resort from I Still Know What You Did Last Summer could be a cool tropical map. With the exit gates I thought only one side should be beach/sea as a barrier that can’t spawn exit gates, and the other 3 sides can still be the usual walls

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking about in my head actually! No joke! lol

OMG - though it's not the most exciting Killer, that could be a fun Licensing idea for the Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. And I suppose a "Hook" swinging Killer can't be all too bad, I can imagine quite a few different cosmetics for him already haha.

This would be super neat ^^

I think it'd be awesome! I've had a dream for a few years now to one day own a small island on a lake and run a haunted house on it. Have a property on shore and have designated guides row a boat with guests out to the island, maybe some actors jumping out of the water, etc... Islands are great for horror because without a boat you can't just leave. I imagine an island map on dbd where each exit gate leads to a dock with a boat like you said and maybe a fence around the island or allow players to run in shallow water on a beach and the entity drags them under if they go too deep and they respawn somewhere on the map or something. Could be really interesting.

Haha wow, that's so cool! Very creative! I do think the easiest way for them to solve the problem would be a fence though haha, like you stated, that's a great solution! Although the other would be more fun and interesting for sure haha

  • Oh Thank You! <3 That makes me feel better haha. I was hoping I wasn't the only one ^^

Oh, well feel free to share or elaborate! But that's cool, I wonder if this is something they may actually eventually consider. Could be a great Summer theme! Even maybe a Lake, Summer Camp Lake style or somethin, though I prefer Island/Tropical it's more unique and different.

I presume, Survivor breaks the boon totem and gets some kind of buff or something that they can use. Encourages totem cleansing which gives Survivors something else to do besides gen rush, theoretically, but will it actually work? I'm not sure haha.

Yes, we are. At least that was the reason given to me, and I haven't seen anything saying otherwise. But lore aside, gameplay wise this is a bad idea. As I said, 3rd person killer would be harder than 1st person. And 1st person survivor, while good in theory, destroys any chance survivors have of surviving a chase. You need to be able to use your camera to check for mindgames.

What if there was a button to look behind you? Like there is in some First Person games. That may actually make it easier to see Killer and in front of you swapping camera than it is right now possibly.

BBQ, Pop, Oppression, and Shadowborn. Slowdown, tracking, and a perk that helps me see.

Thank you, I've been practicing and doing my best but he is SO difficult haha

I guess learning in Red Ranks is probably not the best choice either haha

  • Oh my god no kidding, this has been driving me insane, some things don't stop him at all and he just flies past them even though I'm directly colliding with the objects lol

would be really nice if the game allowed us to just go into a map as the killer and just move around.

specially for killers like nurse and blight

Seriously I want to practice his movement before diving in right now lol.

  • @Yords said:

I think good information to know how to play blight is to randomly practice your movement first, and then learn the obstacles you can and can't bounce off of.

I am probably going to make a separate thread on this so more people can understand this, but I see a lot of new blight players playing so rigid when using his rushes, as if they were a hillbilly.

So when joining a game, learn how to move with his rushes by just moving your mouse or moving with your controller to see how blight turns. Just get a good feel for him.

I would also recommend watching Scott Jund's guide on youtube to learn some very important advice.

His best perk is BBQ since he can literally zoom on over to survivors better than any killer.

Great tips, I would imagine that learning his movement would have to be the most difficult challenge, kind of like with Nurse's blinks.

Does he run until you collide with something or cancel it when you activate his rush? As in, can I traverse the entire map with 1 Rush if I don't hit anything in the way??

Thanks for the video recommendation I will try to find it ^^

  • @bjorksnas said:

Blights best builds take advantage of his mobility, perks that give information to act upon and gen slowdown based on pressure are your best bet, since you can be in two places at once

my goto build is ruin undying tinkerer bbq, for information you can act on and game slowdown

    more info eventually

Oh my, that sounds very powerful on him actually, thank you very much!

Does he run until you collide with something or cancel it when you activate his rush? As in, can I traverse the entire map with 1 Rush if I don't hit anything in the way??

  • I only started playing Survivor again recently because I found a fun SWF to play with so I play SWF quite regularly now, but to be honest none of us are that great.. in fact we get 4K'd MOST matches and very rarely like 1-2 of us actually escape lol .

Still more fun than Solo Qeue though.

A while back i suggested giving up your health stage to survivor on a hook as perk idea. It wouldn't be THAT op, when they would lose perk slot for that.

The true altruism - perk idea & 1 QoL change — Dead By Daylight

Honestly, I like it! Creative idea, and I guess I'm not the first one to have thought of it! Cheers

  • @PyroGL said:

Sounds like it could be a perk:

    Survivor Perk: Self-Sacrifice

If you unhook a survivor in their struggle state, and you have not yet been hooked, you transfer one of your hook states to that survivor.

Only works once, but each survivor could theoretically transfer 1 state each to a single survivor and potentially give that person 6 hooks total to kill them, while all the others would be dead in 2 hooks.

Haha no joke, that would actually be a really cool Perk idea !!! Even better because then it even takes up a Perk Slot for a Survivor so now it's even less overwhelming for the Killer to deal with since the Survivors are also losing out on a Perk slot, BUT it would be something really fun to run if you are running with SWF that are newer to the game or less skilled!

I think this would be a great addition to the game perhaps stated as a Perk like you mentioned, I wonder if people would still have as much of a problem with it then or not ^^

Honestly, I rarely see that. Mostly I just see killers going after the first person they see until they're dead.

This is exactly what happened in multiple games in a row the last two days with my Solo Qeue AND SWF Experience.. which is why I decided to make this post today lol. It genuinely does make Survivor not fun to play, even though up until now I always had the bias that Survivors had it Easier than Killers in DBD - that in my mind is still true OVERALL - but I do find it upsetting when Killers that can still get a 4K without tunneling (because of how good they are) decide to tunnel anyways and just make it for a really poor gaming experience for the rest of us.

--- Although after having read now most of all of the responses in this Thread..

MY BIGGEST TAKEAWAY FROM ALL OF THIS IS

Apparently WAY MORE KILLERS TUNNEL than I thought. I must be like, one of the only Killers in this game that actually thinks Tunneling is bad and should be avoided whenever possible. I swear to ALL of you reading this, I actually had no idea that I was such a minority on this issue, in fact I just thought that most respectful Killers felt the same way as me. This is a pretty big shock to me lol but at least now I'm starting to understand why I'm getting so much negative feedback on my suggestions.

And I apologize by the way, I do not mean any harm by it. I can absolutely promise you that you can "Win" over 50% of your matches, whether that means getting +1 Pip or at least 2-4K in Red Ranks without ever using Tunneling as a Method if you continue playing until you figure out your own way of doing so, IF you would like to, but I understand now that most of you WOULD NOT like to , and in that case I don't want to be the one to suggest something to take away that crutch from you.

I just really wish there was at least SOMETHING that a player who gets tunneled by a Killer from the start of the game can do so that it isn't such a completely miserable experience for that one particular player.

Please, at least accept that this is a problem that should have some kind of better solution, and perhaps even try to input something constructive that could help <3

I gave you a likely scenario at high levels of play.

This would destroy the game at Red Ranks.

Nobody can prove you wrong because the evidence we need would need to be gathered in a test. Unfortunately for you, that test isn't going to happen, so you'll have to take common sense as an argument.

As someone with nearly 1K hours in both sides, this is an awful idea. Respectfully, go back to the drawing board.

I read your scenario after I wrote the comment you just responded to, thank you ^^ I replied to it as well! I agree with you on most/all of those things actually!

Thank you for being "Respectful" at least at the end there - however may I ask you, given having read my suggestion and reasons for it - do you by any chance have a possible better solution that would achieve what I am aiming for that you could think of?

I am just curious if maybe we all put our minds together we can find a creative way to solve the issue that I mentioned, and have it be fair and balanced as well, just as something fun to discuss and brain storm together.

Though my final comment on my previous topic suggestion is that I absolutely don't see how it would "Ruin Red Ranks" as I am already doing this and have been for quite some time now on Killer without having it be "ruined" for me in anyway.

Even if it did "Ruin" some games, I think it would only ruin a few rather than many. I think at least as many as it would ruin it would actually end up benefiting me equally as much.

Have you considered that nearly everyone in this thread has said that this is a bad idea?

My scenario happens extremely often. Go look at any tournament or streamer. When they get a team that kind of knows what they are doing, they will have to tunnel.

Tunneling is a good strategy and it will not be removed.

Camping is also a decent strategy, but is easily counterable and as such, will not be removed.

If you want to push this buff to Survivors through, you HAVE to slow the game down massively. Gens will need to take at least 110 seconds, if not more. Perks will need to be completely rebalanced. Items will also need the same.

It's unrealistic and it doesn't really work.

Honestly, I am actually totally okay with everything you just said lol.

I agree I DO NOT want Tunneling or Camping to be "Removed" as it is quite literally impossible to do so and I understand that quite well.

If anything I just want it to be slightly discouraged so it may occur less when it is actually completely unnecessary in many situations where it happens, sure not ALL situations, as you pointed out there will be some like in Tournaments etc where it might even be necessary, but just like that it still occurs when it is clearly not necessary either.

But even more so - I JUST WANT there to be a way to continue playing if you are the 1st person that gets Tunneled out of the match in a SWF. It really sucks and is a shame that there is a game mechanic that legitimately forces someone to sit and wait for their friends to finish a match that may go on for a very long time because the Killer decides to just force 1 player out of the match within the first few minutes.

That's a ######### thing and some QoL would be pretty cool there.

EDIT: When I thought of this, I wasn't even the one that was being Killed first during the SWF matches, (that happened in solo qeue though), but I just felt SO Bad for my friends that kept falling out of the match so early every time because they aren't as skilled on Survivor as us, then they have to wait and it makes them not want to keep playing DBD... it's just lame and I figured at least this would give them a chance to keep playing more.. something should be done at least even if it isn't the idea that I came up with.

Oh yeah, and I ALSO Agree with you that Gen Speeds should take longer IN GENERAL. This has nothing to do with my post or suggestion, but yeah I know for a fact that Gens pop WAY too fast sometime especially against a pro SWF team.

Bro, I am on your side, that's why I am so shocked that you cannot see the bigger picture.

It is painfully clear that you cannot understand why people (nearly EVERYONE responding to you) thinks your suggestion is a huge buff to Survivors. Your inability to understand it (or accept it) doesn't make it any less true. Let me emphasize a fact for you; everyone who has responded to you with over 2K+ hours in the game (all of whom have reached Red Rank in both Killer and Survivor) have been of basically the same opinion. Isn't it possible that some (perhaps even all) of them know what they are talking about?

Not a single person has actually given any legitimate explanation/evidence/examples that make sense and can't be countered rather easily, that's all. I just honestly believe people are not thinking it through completely, either that or they just don't WANT this to be something that is changed, despite all of the evidence that I on the other hand have provided toward why it would be good for the game.

I am here because I am completely 100% open to discussion.

Most people that are responding "against" my idea, are not providing any real reason or evidence or specific examples as to why.

That is not a discussion, that is just someone stating "No" without giving any actual reason behind it sort of like when parents say "Because I said so." lol

Look, I made this post because I wanted to spend some time offering up a suggestion that I PERSONALLY thought would make the game better for all of us. I explained myself, I gave scenarios, and provided evidence to back up my thoughts. Then, I asked for your opinions.

By the way, Thank You for taking the time to share your opinions! ^^ I appreciate it, and that's fine, like I said, I am willing to have a discussion about it.

But until someone can ACTUALLY say something that straight up 100% Proves me wrong and I read it and think to myself "Oh wow, omg, I am such an idiot this was a terrible idea why did I even bother writing it!?" Well until that happens, I'm just here trying to have an open discussion about it with everyone that's willing to participate and I'll respond with my thoughts to your thoughts ^^

No, it's massive buff to Survivor.

If you are playing against a half-decent team, you will need to tunnel someone out of the game because a 4v1 is massively against you as Killer. This change would allow the Survivors to keep the game a 4v1 for an extremely long time, making it virtually impossible for Killers other than Nurse or Spirit to win.

It'd turn every single game into a slug fest.

Let's take a hypothetical scenario that can very easily happen. Say you spend 20 seconds looking for a Survivor at the beginning of the game, and then you have a 30 second chase (which is relatively fast) and it then takes you another 10 seconds to pick up and hook said Survivor, then another 15 to get to a gen.

That's three gens done and you have one hook and you had an ideal scenario with a quick chase. This scenario happens a lot at higher ranks against Survivors who have an inkling of knowledge.

You now have two gens left and 4 Survivors alive. Tell me how you win the game without tunneling someone out so that the game is more manageable.

    Hmm

Idk, maybe I'm just a better Killer than I thought I was lol.

I don't know what game you are playing as Killer, but just because I do face some Survivors or SWF Teams occasionally that completely wreck me and get a 3-4man Escape, it really does NOT happen that often, even at Red Ranks, and I always go for the 12 Hook if I can. I legit get upset at myself if toward the end of a match I realize that I messed up and won't be able to complete a 12 Hook.

This is without Tunneling, I use Make Your Choice to be frank and ALWAYS try to go for the Unhooker if I can. That's my playstyle. That means I'm away from Hook, and leaving the person who got unhooked alone and going for the person who saved them.

Honestly, I REALLY don't think that I'm that good of a Killer, there's no way that other's can't also play this way and still get wins. That would be absurd, in your own scenario you make it seem like EVERY match a Killer would HAVE to Tunnel or Camp to get a Survivor out of the game as quickly as possible or they would NEVER win...

No offense, but Your Scenario is far less Realistic than mine lol, I know for a fact that you don't HAVE to Tunnel every single match to get wins, and by the way, it is totally okay to NOT win and get a 4K every single match either. Long as you +0 Pip it's actually technically not even a Loss and you still get BP for it.

Obviously getting +0 Pip without getting more than 1K every single match wouldn't be fun, but you would improve as a Killer and over time you would start getting more Kills without having to use nasty tactics or methods to do so.

Mind you, I actually came up with this NOT because a Killer was using this tactic to win against us as super pro Survivors. My SWF Team is fairly new and we are not very good Survivors ranging from Rank 4 - Rank 13 .. but when we face a Rank 1 Nurse that Tunnels from the start and doesn't stop tunneling all game long even when there are still 4 Gens up... how are we supposed to even try to have fun? lol

The interesting thing about all of this for me is that I BARELY Play Survivor, I almost only play Killer because I can't stand Solo Qeue and up until recently never had anyone to play DBD with..

But now that I'm finally trying to play SWF I'm starting to learn why people hate Tunneling/Camping so much, and being a Killer Main KNOWING that it is completely not a necessary tactic to actually win (I suppose if you are good enough), it did began to upset me and try to get thinking about creative "fair" ways to try and discourage people from doing it and possibly help SWF have a little more fun while at it.

I also think that you are over thinking how much time it actually will add to the game, remember, you are still getting a free hook state from another (possibly more experienced) survivor who you didn't even have to chase or down... that's actually HUGE

  • @HollowsGrief said:

The game is a solo vs a team, alone you can't do anything about tunneling you need your team to step in, perhaps the killer ignores them but they can still body block and harass the killer to make i extremely unpleasant to tunnel. Also your idea is very short sighted, it would make playing killer legit impossible; sorry but it just is not possible to 12 hook a match with survivors your skill lvl, you will lose every time.

I mean, at Red Ranks I go out of my way to 12 Hook every match that I can, often screwing myself over trying to do so even. But it is certainly not impossible, I would say I have over 50% success rate and I have fun doing it.

Again, I actually cannot seem to understand why people would consider this such a huge buff to Survivors, IF YOU ARE Trending to get a 4K match as a Killer, this actually shouldn't effect your success rate whatsoever. UNLESS You use Tunneling/Camping as your only Method of achieving that 4K .. but to be quite frank, if that is the type of Killer you are and you cannot complete getting your 12 Hooks without using those Tactics or Methods then you probably should be at a different Rank as Killer than you are now realistically speaking.

  • @KolbyKolbyKolby said:

There's a lot to unpack here but I'm mostly confused on why you seem to think going for Ruin, flashlight saves, and bodyblocking is toxic behavior.

Flashlight Saves and Bodyblocking are equally Toxic to me as Camping and Tunneling - neither is necessary to WIN the game, it is mostly done to annoy the other players or be rude from my experience. Especially the type of Survivors that do it regularly, also usually happen to be the Survivors that talk trash at the end of the game in the lobby lol.

That being said, going for Ruin is of course not Toxic behavior. But when the same Survivor gets downed in front of Ruin 3 times in a row, even when you are NOT trying to tunnel them but after every unhook they don't even heal they just run right back to Ruin and try to do it in front of you again, they are Literally Asking to be killed. I don't consider it Toxic behavior, but I cannot allow them to destroy the Ruin right in front of my face and will Kill them if they insist.

  • @MadLordJack said:

That would make it impossible to win against decent teams without resorting to mass slugging. It guarantees 8-hook 0k scenarios. And as nice and fun as that sounds, there's no way good survivors would ever not sacrifice their hook states. That's already what we do. That's like, survivor 101. Someone on death hook? They vanish and the least hooked person takes the heat.

Yeah, that's again kind of speaking to my point.

This will encourage that type of gameplay, even toward some of the "not best" Survivors out there.. and discourage the Killer from sitting and Camping/Tunneling slightly, also as I mentioned before there are cases where you CANNOT prevent the Killer from killing one specific Survivor.

It just happened to me in a match yesterday, I was actually playing Solo Qeue Survivor, and the Killer for some reason decided to Tunnel me to death immediately from the start. There were 2 other Survivors that actually stayed after they unhooked me and tried to Body Block the Killer for me - the Killer WOULDN'T Even Swing at them, just walked around them and went straight for me.

In this scenario, if my system was in place, instead of having to try and "Bodyblock" for me, unsuccessfully at that, they could just let the Killer hook me and give up their own Hook States while working on Gens either forcing the Killer off of me or possibly making it easier for them to Escape. And lets be real, in this scenario, that literally just happened yesterday, the Killer was just being rude af.. there is absolutely no reason to tunnel someone that hard and ignore others while they are body blocking you, I swear I didn't even have an item it's not like I was flashlighting or had a key, I spawned near him by coincidence and it was a Bubba that chainsawed me down and then never let me go.

I only scored 1K bloodpoints that game, and it was a horrible experience, and shouldn't have been fun for anyone to be honest... and there was actually nothing that I could do with how hard he camped/tunneled me. If a Killer is doing that, they deserve to get some kind of drawback in-game for the type of behavior.

  • @TheMadCat said:

Well, it'll be useless for solo. No one would give a hook state to a random.

This is possibly true in MOST cases, and that is why this is more a QoL change directed at SWF and for Killers in general.

Perhaps no one would give up a Hook State in Solo, but perhaps they would, that I admit is kind of up in the air.. I can see someone actually doing it if they think that it might make that SMALL % chance difference where they can all Escape instead of all get Sacrificed. Those are pretty Rare situations where this might change the tides THAT much in a match, but it is certainly possible, and you never know sometimes people are just feeling kind or generous haha

True, but there's not really any compensation on the Killer side.

This is completely entirely false, Please Read the post again to see how it benefits the Killer in multiple ways.

Or Read my Replies that I just wrote to other's before you explaining more detailed scenarios.

The Killer actually gains a great deal from this, and all it does is encourage them to play in a fair way that not only will reward them more at the end of the match but is more fun than using "Camping/Tunneling" methods. If the Killer is a Killer who doesn't Tunnel, this will "hardly" effect them because most Survivors will be on their final Hook States anyways and not able to give one up to save the first one dying or much less willing to as it would put themselves in mortal danger.
