Forcing Killers to 12-hook without massively slowing down the game is not going to work out.

This is just a huge buff to Survivor.

Well could you please explain why it would be a "Huge" buff?

I personally do not see it that way at all.

As Killer you are still getting a completely free Hook State from a different Survivor, one that you didn't even have to go through the trouble of finding or downing. That, and they still have to unhook the Survivor that you were "tunneling" hypothetically (if that is the gameplay you prefer to play though I don't enjoy it myself) to save them, and when they do you can still continue to Tunnel the weak Survivor and force them to give up ANOTHER Hook State if they want to keep their friend in the match.

Eventually you will either get ALL available Hook States off of that one Survivor, or they will be forced to let that Survivor Die and be Sacrificed anyways.

That being said, this above scenario would ONLY happen if you are playing as an (in my opinion) "Toxic Tunneling Killer" because if you were to play the way that I play Killer then this change wouldn't even effect you at all because I do my best to spread out my Hooks as evenly as possibly every single match in order to secure 12 Hooks every match on my own, but it is hard cause I have to constantly be aware of which Survivor I am going for. This would actually make it less challenging for me as a Killer to complete 12 Hooks.

Either way, I just don't see how it would be a "Huge" buff to Survivors. I think it would actually be a Minor Buff to BOTH sides, which is what I love about it. Almost more like a Quality of Life change to DBD in general.

    • Hypothetical, the other Survivors all use their Hook States to give up to the 1 poor guy that is stuck on the Hook to try and abuse the system and sit on gens the whole time -- well ANY Killer should instead of "Camp" the guy on Hook go LOOK for the other Survivors and Pressure Gens. What will happen then? Well, The Killer won't be around to Camp or Tunnel when the Survivor gets Unhooked, but chances are the Killer will have found someone else working on a Gen instead and is in Chase with them trying to get a Down. In Theory it ACTUALLY forces a Killer to play the "correct/more fun" way, without actually taking away too much from their ability to get a 12 Hook match since they get a Free one each time it happens from one of the other Survivors.

I think the you have to twelve hook them or hook them equally is what he was going for.

Yes this is completely Correct, I am saying that this would make it easier for Killers to get a 12 Hook game and that is in my opinion a good thing for Killers in general. Not only does it discourage "toxic" gameplay in general (such as Tunneling first Survivor to death immediately), but it also encourages healthy gameplay of trying to focus on securing your 12 Hooks every single match and maximizing your bloodpoint and pip game as a Killer each time.

  • @Yords said:

That could easily be abused to the advantage of survivors. If they could just give each other hook states they would likely end up making it so that you 12 hook everyone or hook them all equally. It also still doesn't solve tunneling because the killer would just hook that survivor again and again, sure they might still end up escaping if they are lucky, but it would still be very boring.

I disagree to some extent, I think it would still be less boring than forcing a Survivor to sit there and Spectate and wait for their friends (in SWF situations). But you are correct, the chances are the Killer would still probably just keep tunneling that Survivor IF they wanted to or felt like it - the difference being that by doing so the other Survivors could at least extend the time the Killer gets punished for this type of gameplay and finish Gens therefore giving a slightly higher probability of Escaping.

That's kind of my whole point though, it wouldn't necessarily be a huge balance change either way because at best it will only increase the odds of the Survivors getting to Escape slightly, I don't want it to actually make a huge impact on Balance which is exactly why I thought of this, it wouldn't impact Balance significantly but at least it would allow players to continue playing for "Closer" to the "end of the match" rather than get Tunneled and forced out of the match super early on while the other 3 still have Full Hook States.

Also, again it would be INTENTIONAL that the Killer has to 12 Hook each game because that is actually BETTER for the Killer. Having a 12 Hook Game is worth significantly more Bloodpoints generally AS WELL as one of the best ways to get a +2 Pip if you are trying to Rank Up. As a Killer I WANT to get 12 Hook games EVERY match, but sometimes it is impossible to do so because even if I get the 4K it won't count as 12 Hooks cause one of the Survivors played super safe the whole game or was just significantly better than the others and I couldn't down them.

It would give Killers a chance to Score Hook points on the "Pro Survivors" that they cannot down by their own skill, for one example. Not saying that's fair to the Survivor either, but at least the Survivor is in this case willing giving up a Hook State for their friend.

  • It's definitely bugged.

I couldn't type "Them" or "L4D" or a handful of other non bad words earlier today. Is there anyway to disable the filter all together? It's horrible haha

So apparently BHVR added the gnome from L4D2 as a Rare Charm. How long will this be a thing? I don't know.

Once Endgame Collapse starts by either unlocking the exit gate or closing the hatch, the gnome will spawn. You will know it spawned because you will hear a laughter once Endgame Collapse starts.

During Endgame Collapse you need to look around the map for the gnome, if you get close it will make a laughter noise. It's quite small... so keep your eyes open.

Once you smash it as killer / survivor ONCE you'll unlock it for both sides & all characters.

Once someone smashes the gnome, it will laugh and spawn somewhere else.

This is best done with Killer. Close hatch & slug the last person then look for the gnome + you don't need to worry about the survivor stealing your precious gnome. As survivor you need to ESCAPE to get the charm, hence why killer is easier.

That's all. If I missed anything, let me know in the comment and I'll edit

Does the Gnome ONLY appear after End Game Collapse begins 100%?

  • I've had multiple games now where Killers have been asking if we found the Gnome, I have had no idea what they are talking about lol. So far no one in my match has found it though, despite apparently some Killers trying to.

######### you wanna know how bad I am and still get red rank with wraith. My looping for a single window L wall is to run circles until you use up your three vaults. I don't mind game cause there's no need to. And if you some how make it to a pallet after the loop? I break the pallet and leave. If you there is no pallet nearby? I get the hit

Well against any decent team that is like a whole gen right there though.. if each survivor just did that to you one time they would already almost complete the game and escape. To be honest I don't know how to loop better than that as a Killer either, but if I get to a spot where there's a safe window I just immediately leave instead and give up on that Survivor for that moment.

I'm wasting time technically EITHER way - but I waste less time by leaving the Survivor alone than by chasing them around a window for that long.

Bottom line is that it's too easy to outplay him as a Survivor, I'm not saying he's not viable, I have always enjoyed playing him as I do still now and I am able to succeed in Red Ranks even, but it requires a LOT of effort, and a very specific playstyle, and at least 2 purple addons or better every single match. You simply cannot stay on a Survivor for too long or you will lose very fast if you do.

It requires him way more Addons, Experience, and Effort to accomplish what other better Killers can do more easily. I'm not at all trying to say that he cannot accomplish what better Killers can do, fortunately he can and the buffs helped allow him to do so, but it will require you to spend more bloodpoints and try harder to do so. I think even in its current state, Wraith is just "Fun" to play if you are into his playstyle, but he is far from "Top Tier" as many others have pointed out.

Btw, I'm not asking for any buffs or a rework, I'm actually happy to play him as he is now, for me I'm used to it by now and it is enjoyable, any further changes would possibly mess him up and make him less fun to play and I would like to avoid that at all costs!

I think that my personal stance is that he is a pretty balanced "Mid-Tier" Killer now that is fun to play and has a lot of counterplay when facing good Survivors, but also has the ability to do quite well in the right hands. In fact, I would argue that he is one of the most well balanced killers to play currently which is what makes him so fun for me, it's a challenge every single match, but not so daunting that I feel hopeless even playing as him. I really hope they don't change him anymore, if they buff him anymore he will probably end up being overtuned and need to be looked at, and if they nerf him anymore he may no longer be fun to play at all.

Plus, there are plenty of other Killers that need to be looked at now harder than him, both weaker and stronger than him, that should be brought more in line. I think Wraith is fine and shouldn't be messed with anymore for a long while, and if they want to work with balance they should spend time on some of the other Killers that need some attention.

  • I'm a Rank 1 Wraith player from way before the buffs.

The buffs are nice and he definitely needed that movement speed increase base kit during cloak.

That being said I can understand how there are Survivors who would consider him a bit overwhelming to deal with using certain Perks / Addons combos. (Though many other Killers share this in common)

I can tell you from my own personal experience, as one of the better Wraith players in the game, at least in my opinion..

    1. He is still extremely Perk reliant, sure I play at Rank 1, but Wraith is one of the ONLY Killers I play that I cannot play without taking at LEAST 2 Purple Addons into every single match. If I don't take my 2 Purple Addons it is almost Guaranteed I will get 0-1 Kills with him and also Depip.. the only possible way to stay competitive at Red Ranks with Wraith is to use his Best Addons every single match. This ends up being kind of annoying, and very expensive, if I am playing Wraith basically 100% of my Awarded Bloodpoints per each and every match are going directly back into Buying Addons for him to be able to continue playing. His Bloodpoint Upkeep is extremely high - and that is something to consider when playing as him.
    2. "Pro Survivors" aka Survivors that know how to Loop efficiently, especially USING WINDOWS - and OMFG if there are 2 Windows near eachother - it is actually legit 100% impossible to get a hit on a Survivor with him. This is rather uncommon, I admit, but it is also a 100% fact that there are certain areas where a Survivor that knows exactly what they are doing can make it completely impossible for a Wraith to get a hit. I've had it happen to me before and if I try to continue to waste time with that Survivor I will absolutely throw the game so I just have to leave them alone. Coincidentally (and I know because this has only happened to me a few times so I can remember each one), usually these areas happen to be right next to Gens, so that means I have to give up on that Gen entirely because if I ever try to defend it I will just waste time never getting a hit on the Survivor working on it. Each of these games have ended in a Depip for me with "Entity Displeased". The only point that I am trying to make is that people need to realize and understand that one of the differences between Wraith and other Killers is that against really good Survivors and Windows or Certain areas (houses, shacks) he is actually at a much larger disadvantage than other Killers would be against that same Survivor in the same place.
    3. I play Wraith because he is Fun to play, he was actually one of the very first Killers I ever tried in DBD. He was fun to play even BEFORE the Buffs, he is still fun to play now. But to be honest, I am a better Wraith player than I am on almost any other killer now (cause I have played him the most), and yet I still find it easier to get 4K in Red Ranks on many other Killers besides Wraith - sure Wraith may not be "complicated" to play - but by NO MEANS is he "EASY" to get a 4K with in Red Ranks.. in fact, almost EVERY 4K in Red Ranks I have to play extremely sweaty and give it my best using my best Addons. Not doing so will get you punished very quickly and it will be more difficult to come back from a mistake than with another "Stronger" Killer. I think many other Killers are less stressful to play in Red Ranks - Spirit can essentially do almost the same thing that Wraith can but without having to "Decloak" lol (of course I know they are not the same, but my point is that it's basically easier to do anything on Spirit than Wraith for me and I'm not even a good Spirit player at all - Imagine if I used 2 Purple Addons on Spirit every single match how EASY it would be to get constant 4K's in comparison lol)

So HSHS sadly is dying. It sucks I really enjoyed the game actually but its been going down and down and down in players which somewhat surprises me but somewhat doesn't. Oh well, DBD has yet again beat its competition which isn't a bad thing I love them both but it would've been nice to have a fresh game thats similar but not a copy like IDV. What do you guys think of the whole situation?

What is HSHS? I keep thinking High School.. lol

Well yes it would be meta because this perk would be immediately far above where Mettle of Man (original) and D-Strike (original) were in terms of power.

While both of those perks could let you ignore getting downed or ignore getting hit one time, Lucky Break ensures you lose the Killer after being hit once and can do so several times if you heal fast enough and soon enough, especially with certain synergies.

It makes you untrackable, with a single hit, several times. Even DS let you escape a carry the first time you got downed, and MOM would let you tank a hit once - Lucky Break has a powerful effect with incredible synergy, multiple times.

I suppose that if it truly becomes meta then Killers would have to start bringing Sloppy Butcher + Nurses Calling more, and possibly even Franklin's for Med-kits.

Although if a Killer brings those then Lucky Break won't be nearly as effective even in its buffed state.

  • @Judgement said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2115822#Comment_2115822

Lucky Break is getting buffed where for 90 seconds while injured you leave no scratch marks or blood trails, which pauses when healed. You will instantly lose the Killer with Iron Will and some other perk synergies.

omg that's actually pretty crazy! lol

Although I suppose if you are in a close to 90 second chase and the killer doesn't lose you then it can run out pretty quickly.. but I bet it would be really fun perk to use to mindgame killers that's for sure!

I wonder if it will become meta - sounds very high potential.

Okay I'm genuinely going to miss this perk tbh

I know I know I'm weird, but I actually liked the perk. I hope they buff it later on to increase the timer, maybe make it so that it makes the unhooked survivor silent for a duration.

Wait I am so confused, what's wrong with Babysitter, what is happening to the Perk??

I used to use it all the time together with Distortion and We'll Make it as a great Unhooker/Healer build. It's actually one of my Favorite Perks to play as Survivor, please don't tell me they're doing something to it! I swear I've never met anyone else even using it but me ######### lol

Like Stranger Things, Silent Hill, and other licenses beforehand, RE will bring in a large volume of curious fans that haven’t played DBD before.

We don’t want another disaster where a large percentage of these new players are left with an abysmal first impression of DBD like what has happened in the past.

Killers, if you see a survivor struggling, and clearly clueless, they’re probably new, give ‘em some slack. Don’t tunnel or camp them. Give them a fair go.

Survivors, if you see a baby killer only manage their very first down after 4 gens have popped, perhaps DON’T flash a torch into their face, or body block a hook.

I never play this way, I have achieved Rank 1 Killer (on Wraith and Legion so not even Top Tier killers) without ever using a Mori, or Camping, or Tunneling, I like to play fair, I play with Make Your Choice now so it actually intentionally helps me avoid tunneling or camping even if I wanted to (perhaps other perks such as this would benefit the game) ...

But I can tell you one thing, I've almost never in my entire DBD experience met any Survivors who don't bully me as much as they humanly possibly can no matter what rank or killer I was playing.

I do agree that it would be nice if Players were kinder to "new players" to give them a chance in the game at least. Make it slightly more fun for them, but I just don't ever realistically foresee that happening in DBD. Playing either side as a beginner was a nightmare and a half + all the Bloodpoint Grinding to get the Teachable Perks you want to match your playstyle, omfg, even though I love to enjoy playing DBD still after many years on the game.. I would NEVER EVER take the time to farm all that BP again.

If I had to start over fresh, I would much rather just quit the game for good. And New Players are starting Fresh every single time.. it is going to be fkn rough!

As Survivor I have at least met a few Friendly Killers that will Give Hatch or let you escape if your team dragged or you had DC or something.. so that's not impossible, it was nice, it's also not necessarily what this thread is about though. You can still get a 4K without playing Toxic. Similarly it is also possible to Escape 4 man without playing Toxic as well.

  • @Ketrab2703 said:

Rank Rewards will be provided only after MMR will be introduced as Matchmaking tool. You will get your bloodpoints then cause otherwise ranks would not have any function. Keep in mind when they will finally introduce MMR for good (and Rank Rewards) you will get put back to rank 20 everymonth, (not only 5 ranks back) so getting that Rank 1 for 250 000 BPs will take a lot of time.

Oh wow. I thought it was already implemented haha. Damn Rank 20 every time? That sounds a bit rough.. not sure I like the sound of that

I wonder what the heck I was rewarded 150k BP for every reset before then, I just assumed it was Rank Rewards for Purple Ranks but I guess it was something else *shrugs*

I read somewhere that they gave him the slowdown of both purple and green windstorm add-ons but only gave him the movement of one. This is why they removed it from the add-on incase you run them both.

It should have only been equal to one add-on and kept the slowdown on the add-ons.

Ah, well that’s unfortunate because I completely agree with everything you stated, and the slowdown of 2 windstorm addons is simply too much.

I would have never chosen to play 2 windstorm addons intentionally and never did before. In this particular instance this is more of a Base-kit Nerf than it is a Buff, if what you are saying is true.

  • @Mandy said:

I'm checking on this, it definitely didn't feel right when I played him last night - something was off. Will update more when I have it confirmed as a bug or not.

Thank you Mandy, we Wraith players appreciate it!

I have just Mained Wraith to Rank 1 Killer for the first time ever - literally the night before the patch. I ran a single Purple Windstorm in every single game to Rank 1. I couldn't wait for the Wraith buffs and I was super excited, especially having been able to play him well enough to reach Rank 1 before the "buffs"..

However, I tried him tonight, and something most definitely feels off. I was under the impression that he was basically going to have "base-kit Purple Windstorm" which actually would have made a lot of sense based on the description - but after playing 5 games tonight I could tell that this is not the same as Purple Windstorm.

The Speed increase does feel the same, I will give it that, but the Uncloaking feels a little heavier on the slow, not too noticeable so maybe its very close to the same, however, as others in this Thread have mentioned, the Lunge and actual Attack ability after Uncloaking absolutely does not feel right or the same as Purple Windstorm used to for example.

I missed SO many Lunges that I know should have landed previously with just Purple Windstorm just based on my natural instinctual memory. I have played enough Wraith to have developed the sort of "muscle memory" people are talking about, and my games tonight were significantly more challenging than "Before the Buff" which doesn't seem right to me.

The concept of the Buff was right, but I rather have to use Purple Windstorm every game and be stronger than actually miss Lunges that I'm used to hitting constantly and get completely Looped at any Window Vault near a Pallet for example because I can't use my Power or Uncloak fast enough to land a hit.

Anyways, here's to hoping that it is some kind of bug that can be figured out, because Wraith is my favorite Killer and I had high hopes for this patch but am a bit sad now, especially when I just depipped from Rank 1 one night after getting there because of it.

(I will say that something was also off on my Emblem's again this patch as well, I had 4 Survivors on Last Hook at the end of a VERY Sweaty match but they all Escaped and I got Bronze Emblem x3 entity displeased and literally -2 Pip) I swear that can't be right, even the survivors after the game told me that it doesn't make sense because I played well and almost got them all. Also it was a rather long game, they never even cleansed Hex Ruin and I was 3 gen on them for a while, so I have no idea how I got only bronze gatekeeper emblem *shrugs*

  • I think the invisibility does help, I have noticed that survivors don't notice me as much, though the good ones still notice me FAR in advance to get close enough to land an easy hit. I think that's fine, that's working as intended. The problem before was that on certain maps survivors could literally see where he was at all times (which essentially eliminates any benefit from his cloak) as mentioned above.

The 0.25sec speed boost is nice, however, I have played a few matches now and noticed that something is rather buggy.

For example, I will sometimes teleport infront of the survivor when I lunge at them out of cloak, and quite literally I will be in front of them almost as if I teleported THRU them somehow, but they won't take any damage at all, and all the sudden they will be behind me.

This happened a few times in just a couple of matches, and also I noticed that one time I got CLEARLY landed a lunge attack on a survivor at a pallet, and I ended up legit on the other side of the pallet where the survivor was after my lunge, but I still got stunned by the pallet and the survivor did not take any damage... and we were literally standing on the same side together looking at each other. Then while I was stunned the survivor vaulted back over the pallet that they just dropped on me and escaped lol.

It was rather strange. And though I have read on the forums people complaining about survivor hit boxes being larger, but I actually have to completely disagree - maybe they need to try playing as killer, because either it is completely bugged for killer, or Wraith, but I am genuinely having a harder time hitting survivors than before even when they are directly in front of me, which was usually not a problem, at least not like this, before the patch for me. It is a noticeable difference and I am missing WAY more swings (I rarely missed to begin with) than I used to, so something just doesn't feel right.

I will add that I have only played Wraith so far, testing his new kit. And before I played Wraith I played 10 matches as Survivor, and I'm not sure if I noticed any hitbox issues as Survivor but what I did notice is that the new animations were glitchy and I kept teleporting in different directions as playing.. my character did not look fluid at all. Almost like as if I was having connection issues, but I wasn't.

This makes me believe that possibly the Survivor animations are actually teleporting out of my lunges somehow and I am missing attacks that should have connected successfully, but if that is the case, then I completely do not understand why survivors are saying the opposite is happening to them. *Shrugs*

  • @kyogul said:

Doing this in a SWF is easy as you can say how many totems have been done. On top of that, in the case of some hex perks like NO ED, you can 99% some gens or delay completing all gens until all totems are done to prevent it.

It's a different story in solo queue. You can't prevent anyone from doing generators no matter how much you try. Even if you are relatively familiar with totem spawns and are actively wanting to look for totems, you have no way of knowing how many are done by other survivors without individually checking where each totem is, wasting your time and pretty much not doing any objectives, particularly generators. Also, multiple maps have dreadful totem spawns that are difficult to find, particularly Swamp. On top of that, you still have many totem spots that cannot even be cleansed and they're glitched.

Even with Small Game and a map with add ons, you still have to roam around the map wasting so much unnecessary time that you might as well have done generators, so perks in particular don't help out that much in many scenarios. Detective's Hunch is awesome but not consistent unless the team gets generators done, and it's still a ######### situation to have to bring a perk dedicated to totems because of what I just said. It's like telling a killer player who doesn't like DS to play The Executioner if they don't like DS so much and to get over it. Or saying "just wait 60 seconds 🤪."

It's analogous to if there was a survivor perk that gave 25% bonus repair speed as long as there were breakable walls up and simply telling the killer "jUSt BreAk wAlls." For all you know they could have prove thyself and a good toolbox they found out of a chest. I don't understand how people don't get this.

Any time wasted not pressuring survivors is giving them free pressure on you, and the inverse is true as well: wasting time running around the map for several minutes doing totems is giving the killer free pressure.

It's just ######### advice that lacks any context. You're giving the killer free pressure for a perk they may or may not have, and in some cases it's not even worth trying to cleanse totems because of how the game is going. So when people complain about no ed and hex perks in general and just respond with a snarky response of "JuST dO tOtemS", it strikes me as actually not understanding the nuances of what they're talking about.

The reason I disagree with this entirely is because I actually LOVE running Small Game as a perk (I think it's fun) and having something to do in a game besides rushing gens. Doing Totems genuinely makes the game more enjoyable and interesting for me, and I also feel useful for doing them since for some reason I have noticed that no body else seems to bother really (unless they are running Inner Strength).

With Small Game I typically manage to do 3-4 Totems per match, and still complete usually 2-3 Generators per match as well.

That's just me by myself. Imagine if others were running it too and actually cared? It would be SO easy.

This is me playing Solo Que.

  • You know what, I'm actually 100% all for this, as long as both Survivor and Killer can see how many totems are left!

I'm actually somewhat blown away that this isn't already a thing, and wasn't thought about for the HUD update to begin with ha.

I hate it when there's only 1 totem left and you think it's been cleared already and then it turns out to be NoEd or something.

  • I legit search for totems most of my games and always have, they reward decent points, and go well with certain perks that you guys have mentioned already.

Blows my mind others don't see the value.

I've had multiple games where I cleansed 3-4 totems myself, and still did like 3 gens. I don't understand what others are even doing tbh

  • Hopefully they fix it soon, others have been complaining about it on the general discussions as well.

  • Pretty sure its a huge bug. Happening to everyone. I keep getting full Emblems in my matches and only getting +1 instead of +2 even though the bar shows it should be more.

I haven't gotten so few emblems yet that I would get -1 but I assume it would be the same issue you experienced as well.

  • My biggest concern with the new animations is the fact that they actually cause me to skip and teleport randomly.. I've been playing DBD for about 4 years now and I've never had the animations skip the way they do now, before.

What it looks like is as if I was teleporting around due to having high latency or some sort of connection issues, but that is not the case, it's just my character glitching out.

It's particularly noticeable with "Fixated" on (which got a wonderful buff this patch) and while injured with Fixated on or during toggling crouching on and off.

  • Same thing happens to me every single game, even if I fill up the bar all the way and get all the emblems and it shows that I should have gotten +2 rank, I only actually receive +1 rank.

The funny thing is that the bar actually shows the correct amount so I know what it really should be lol

Sad though making a greatly well played match feel a lot less rewarding no matter how well you did or long you survived.

The first time I noticed it happening to me I did a match where I completed 3.5 Generators all by myself alone - and cleansed 3 totems - and did like 4 unhooks and multiple heals - survived to die last - have no idea what my teammates were doing (1 gen left end of game) and game lasted like easily 30min...

Got 100% full bar and only received +1 rank :( sad

  • This happened to me ass well, I got the Emblems and filled the bar all the way to 2 and instead of +2 I received only +1 rank

Usually it will release at around 11am EST, which depending on time zones is why you can't see it. Depending on your timezone depends on when it'll release- for example, I'm in GMT and so it'll release around 4pm for me.

Ohh okay tyvm for the clarification!

  • Hey uhh so was the patch today like expected? Thought I read Feb 8th somewhere, but I don't see any updates on my Steam. I'll log in to check soon enough but figured I would ask first.

  • That's too bad I've been looking forward to this update so that I can try and run a Fixated build for a while haha .. guess I'll just keep waiting.

  • I've bee running Small Game ever since they changed the way Totems looked recently (because now they blend in and I simply cannot see them without the perk and it drives me crazy)

    Let me tell you something.

If everyone would be willing to run Small Game and give up one of their "precious" DH/DS/BT/IW etc. perks like I have, then Killer perk combos like "Undying/Ruin" would be a complete joke and there would be absolutely no need for a nerf ...

It's unfortunate that the game developers have such perfect "COUNTER" Perks such as Small Game in place, but yet instead of making people actually use them to counter the other perks that they would, they just let Survivors keep the "meta" perks and nerf the other, making Small Game essentially useless again instead of seeing it as an opportunity to use an underused perk.

Well anyways, I still use Small Game and I gotta tell you that I cleanse all Totems on a map so fast that it doesn't matter what Hex perks the Killer is running because they won't last longer than a few minutes at the most!

It's really unfortunate that counters like these get ignored by the community.

  • I just wrote a comment and then noticed a small spelling typo so I went to "Edit" and fixed it, when I hit save my comment disappeared, is that normal?

  • Well idk if these changes are even implemented yet or not, but I just played 4 Red Rank games a Killer:

I ran Undying, Ruin, & Haunted Ground.

EVERY SINGLE MATCH They Totems were cleansed in the following order:

    1st Undying

    2nd Ruin

3rd (if they still kept cleansing at all) Haunted Ground.

This may have been purely a coincidence, but if it wasn't, I have serious concerns about Haunted Ground and how it works with this 3 Perk Combo, because Haunted Ground being cleansed LAST/FINAL consistently no matter what after Ruin/Undying would really actually end up being quite problematic.. basically Survivors would just know to never cleanse anything after Ruin (honestly they still should know that) but that's kind of the point that I'm trying to make is that it shouldn't always be the case..

Haunted Ground SHOULD have a chance to be the first totem cleansed. Undying SHOULD NOT proc for Haunted Ground. This is a very important distinction that I believe should absolutely be made in the Code.

That being said, if you take away Aura of Hex Totems with Undying (which is kind of lame) then I do think you should at least ADD Aura Reading to Hex: Thrill of the Hunt - which is otherwise a fairly useless perk, I've tried using Thrill of the Hunt on multiple occasions and the noise notification it is "supposed" to deliver is not very consistent .. I can tell you with absolute certainty from having done tests that you DO NOT get a noise notification "Every" time a Survivor begins to cleanse a totem. It does happen, but it is not 100% consistently, which can really throw you off if you are relying on the perk to actually work for your game plan.

I just came here to post about this. I also have it only work about half the time. I stopped using it because I can't get it to work right consistently.

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not alone at least.. means they will probably look into it! Fingers Crossed!

  • @DBD_Asteria said:

maybe you doublepress it? first press triggers deception, second makes you jump into the locker

Hmm, I don't believe that this is the case, also wouldn't explain why Head On doesn't activate if I'm already in the Locker this way either, but I'll try to pay attention and make sure that's not what is going on! Ty

Strange thing though as one other person has now also mentioned, I tested it today and played another 20 matches probably, it worked correctly about 60% of the time now, but still 40% of the time it failed.

    With victor

    1. He can't pounce up any type of slope, doesn't matter how minor

    2. He has the chance to fall through the ground

    3. He has the chance to get stuck in the ground, where he shall remain for the rest of his days

    4. Can now touch people in lockers, poor dwight mains.

    5. Can be kidnapped for 45 seconds, and through hatch without a promise of child support income.

    6. Can camp like a pro, he packed gear and everything.

    7. Can float on a survivor he is attached to, same with Charlotte. Victor decided he was too cool for the ground, and ascended to a higher plane of existence to avoid it.

    8. Victor is too lazy to stop survivors from leaving through the exit gate

    9. Victor's killer instinct for dying people is inconsistent. Sometimes reveals those on a hook too.

    10. Victor can get stuck in his falling animation, which can only be stopped by being kicked by survivors.

    11. Idle animation is bugged in lobby

    12. FOV can be stuck at 45°, same for charlotte.

    16. If insidious is taken victor is constantly undetectable.

    17. Victor can participate in the kerbil space program.

    18. Victor does not activate spinechill, sneaky little [BAD WORD]

    19. After being kicked victor sometimes will slide away

    20. If victor lands on an elevated plane he'll be unable to get off. Side not - survivors who attempt to kick him will float up into the air and kick him, then fall back down.

    With Charlotte

    1. Can have a black screen if you switch too fast, switch again to make it go away

    2. Can get stuck in the ground like victor, at least they're together

    3. Her power can be taken away for 45 seconds

    4. Takes too long to wake up after playing victor, usually happens when switching quickly between the two.

    5. Apparently can't get points from BBQ, bubba decided not to share any chili with the twins.

    7. Purple cosmetic is locked as a set, despite trailer stating otherwise.

    8. Spinning top addon doesn't make survivors drop their items

    10. When switching to charlotte there is a chance you'll move at fatigue speed for the rest of the match.

    11. Charlotte can be displaced during her mori, making her kill the air next to the survivor.

    2. Deception has the chance to not work in high ping ( cries in ps4 )

    6. Spies from the shadows triggers when people are on hook... despite this issue being fixed a couple updates ago.

    7. When oppression triggers a hard skill check, it replaces the one you're currently doing. Causing you to miss it, unless you have godlike reflexes.

    With flashlights

    1. Now has sway for some reason? Get better hands I guess??

    2. Blinding angle is off, to compensate for this the killers eyes have been adjusted 5 feet to the left.

    With hillbilly

    1. Hillbillies chainsaw randomly overheats, guaranteed to happen when breaking a pallet with the chainsaw. Rev it to let it cool down.

    With Legion

    1. legion lost their movement speed in frenzy. Look for funny comment below.

    2. Rumors state legion has a lunge range in frenzy as short as your [BAD WORD]

    3. The mask now defines what gender the legions voice is.

    4. They longer have increased field of view when in frenzy

    With plague

    1. You continue to hear her whispers. even after corrupt purge has ended

    2. In sanctum of wrath, if you drop survivors on the end of the shrine, they'll sometimes fall through

    3. A rock can spawn in front of a hook in Ormond, preventing you from hooking there.

    4. A rock can spawn next to yamaoka estate shack door, is a fat shaming spot for killers. Dwaynes really getting around these days.

    5. Row of rocks on ormond can be climbed by everyone. If killer picks up a survivor on them they can't leave until they drop the survivor.

    6. When phasing with spirit on ormond, some textures glitch out, getting an odd red glow.

    7. Hooks seem to spawn much further away ( could only be in recently reworked maps, will have to wait for further information )

    With totems

    1. Sometimes hex totems look the same as dull totems

    Miscellaneous

    1. The usual framerate issues everyone has (it's been 2 years where is the optimization?)

    20. Names not displayed in endgame screen, no score, no stats displayed either ( so far only reported on windows XP)

    21. Endgame chat reportedly not working on windows XP

    Total issue count: 100

( Some of these may have been present before the chapter dropped, I know for a fact at least two are)

We've made it to 100 bugs guys! Keep 'em coming!

( I wonder if there is an upper limit to post length?)

Deception doesn't only not work with High ping, there are times where you WILL enter the Locker even when you use Deception. It happens to me about 50/50 or maybe 40/60 now that I've been using it more to test, but around half the time you will jump into the Locker even if you have Deception up and you are Sprinting, totally a Bug, and I have great ping :(

  • Thank you for this list!! I hope it remains updated and near the top so Devs can see the issues rather easily ^^

That being said, I am concerned about the Deception Perk myself, I see you said on your list that "Deception Perk Broken" - which I agree with at the moment, because it only works about 50% of the time for me, the other 50% of the time my character rushes into the Locker - which they are not supposed to.

Is that the same issue as the bugs you have listed for the Perk: Deception?

  • Hi Elliot, from my experience it's actually much more than that!

I created a Thread about it here and posted it as a Bug already:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210142/deception-perk-not-working-as-intended#latest

But whether it is "Exhaustion" that gets triggered by Deception or not, I noticed that when it Fails to work as intended (which has happened to me many times) and my character jumps into the Locker - afterward other Perks such as Head On or Quick & Quiet don't work, which to some degree Exhaustion would explain.. but as you mentioned no where is it listed that Deception would cause Exhaustion, and in my opinion it absolutely should not given that it is a fairly weak Perk already as is listed.

I will mention to you though however, that I have been successfully able to use Head On AFTER a Successful Deception (where my character did not jump into a locker as intended) and afterwards I was able to jump into a different locker with Quick & Quiet and use Head On when the Killer walked by, which is definitely how I believe the Perk was intended to be able to be used, and since I have experienced being able to do this successfully I am quite certain that it is in fact a BUG that causes Deception to Fail or Exhaustion.

Hopefully this is of some help, I would love for this issue to be resolved so that I could enjoy using this New Perk I just paid money for and spent 1 million bloodpoints to teach to my main :(

Elliot, mind if I ask you if you have had the same issue as me using Deception where even though you are absolutely sprinting and you can see Deception being active and lighting up but try to use the Perk and instead your character jumps into the Locker (when they are not supposed to)? Have you experienced this as well? It happens about 50% of the time for me actually, the other 50% it works fine and my character doesn't jump into the locker, I have tested it multiple times and have not done any thing differently that would help me dictate why it works sometime and not the other..

  • I noticed another person had an issue with Deception causing "Exhaustion" - and I wonder if that has anything similar to do with why the Perk isn't working as I mentioned in my above post?

Also, has anyone else experienced this same issue as me using the Perk: Deception yet?

I must not be the only one that it fails and actually has my character jump into a Locker when they are not supposed to..

They will never split the queues, especially considering how long they are now, maybe they get better tomorrow with crossplay but I doubt it.

They can and should already be giving huge BP bonuses for playing against SWF and they should be clearly marked - both the bonus and the SWF.

EDIT: I would also like to re-iterate what the OP said because over half of these postS are the same, tired, wrong "BUH BUH BUT QUEUE DODGERS!!?!!"

🤔 Well, like I said, if SWFs aren't such an issue, it wouldn't hurt to let everybody know they are going against SWF.

And if everybody is going to dodge SWF, then SWF is an issue that needs to be addressed. 🤔

Except for if what I said was implemented, then chances are more people would actually enjoy playing the game because there would be a choice between more casual play or SWF play.. and there would be added rewards and incentives.

The idea is that if the ques were split, but more people enjoyed playing the game, more people would que, there would be a larger player base, and ultimately the ques would actually end up shorter than they are now because it would create a healthier game as a whole. You get what I'm saying?

  • ACTUALLY someone said something smart in here...

IF there were 2 separate ques entirely, 1 Que for SOLO Survivors aka Solo Que

    And another for SWF Survivors.

A Killer can choose which they would like to play against, Solo or SWF , and there could be a BONUS Reward in BP or XP or whatever else for a Killer that chooses to play against SWF!

The incentive for the BP + XP Bonus for Killers playing against SWF should be enough to still get Killers to pick SWF matches! And they could even add a little "Top 100" SWF Killers Ranking Chart or something for a little added motivation. It would actually create almost like an "actual Ranked" matchmaking as opposed to the way it is now, and the Solo Que players and Killers can remain mostly for casuals.

This would actually work pretty well in my opinion! And may solve a lot of these issues people keep trying to find solutions to.

EDIT: Honestly I'm not even that great of a Killer, but if I could get 100% Bonus XP/BP for choosing to play against a SWF Team I would most likely pick it almost every time! Unless I was just having a really rough day and didn't feel like being bullied at all and wanted a more chill casual game.. which does happen, but now the way things are I just choose to not even play DBD when I'm in such a mood because DBD games are always 100% sweaty now especially given the current matchmaking system.

I miss having casual games on DBD haha. But yeah with a Bonus incentive I am sure I would be picking to play against SWF win or lose quite often.

  • All I know is that I can't play Killer Anymore..

I've never even been a Red Rank Killer before and all I face is Rank 1 Survivors consistently who completely crush me, I've had about 15-20 matches in a row where all 4 survivors escape, once even 3 escaped but 4th DC'd at the start.. so they beat me with just 3 haha..

So I just quit playing Killer all Together.

When I play Survivor it seems to be okay, I would say 50/50 matches are pretty balanced actually. The other 50% are terrible though and 100% one-sided in either direction.. so definitely still not perfect. I've probably played about 25 Survivor matches now with the new MMR and this has been my experience.

Killer is impossible, I think the game thinks that I'm some kind of GOD TIER killer or something, and Survivor is 50/50. I'm a bit sad because I enjoy playing Killer more to be honest.

I’d just say it’s outright disgusting.

It’s another in a line of highly abused SWF perks.

DS + Unbreakable + Soulguard + For The People is incredibly broken across a team of all 4 players running it.

Would you say that it is only good with SWF or Solo play also?

If you had to choose the BEST Soulgaurd build for Solo play what other perks would you recommend to go with it?

  • I just can't even seem to get a Killer Que ???

Been waiting for around 30min now for a match without a single lobby...

  • @Kind_Lemon said:

Just fyi, what you probably were talking about is what happens when a survivor doesn't jump in in time or jumps out too early. Chainsawing people that were still in lockers was never a feature.

My suggestions on what to do: start a rev near a locker and keep the bar near the start. When a survivor jumps in, end the chainsaw and grab the survivor out of the locker. This works usually all the time for me as Hillbilly. The other option may or may not be a thing, but I'm 25% certain that your tantrum is longer if you use up all of your charges before hitting a locker, and if the survivor doesn't have Head On (which Enduring should affect *cough*), the survivor will most likely be thrown off by the length and possibly jump out too early.

This was actually good advice and I really appreciate it!

Yeah a long time ago I was able to chainsaw people in lockers, but perhaps that was a bug or not working as intended. Unfortunately I prefer it that way but I suppose either Iron Maiden or using some techniques that you mentioned above would be helpful.

The thing is, I agree that I have managed to still get many of the survivors that tried doing this, and usually if it just happens a few times in a match its no big deal whether they get away or not..

What I was referring to in my Original Post is that there was a match where ALL 4 Survivors kept doing it constantly the entire match, it happened to be a map with a ton of Lockers, and I basically have no choice because they were REALLY good at it and even there were times where on my screen I was 100% sure that I hit them, and they still somehow managed to get safely in to the locker and then escape..

Sure these survivors were probably really really good and veteran players, but the problem I see is that when this does happen it actually makes playing Bubba feel very useless. I mean I hardly got any down's all game long even trying my hardest, it made him feel like a much weaker killer than most other killers.

  • @JFF said:

I'll tell you a secret, but don't tell anyone. ...i.r.o.n.m.a.i.d.e.n, no but seriously I run it on billy and it works wonders, if you have trouble with people using lockers, just run iron maiden and they will think twice before jumping into the locker again.

Actually that's pretty smart! Though my Bubba build doesn't really have room for that perk necessarily, without giving up something crucial to the build itself, but I do like the idea and I will for sure test it out soon!

    Anyone else experience this?

I have been playing today for a few hours since the patch, practicing bubba, I played like 8 successful games in a row and then in the middle of a very long very sweaty game with good addons and offerings (for bloodpoints) literally completely randomly toward the end of the match I got a pop-up that I have never seen before..

It stated something like: "EAC Detected altered files and in order to reconnect you must fix this problem" - can't remember the wording precisely but that was the idea.. then I pressed "OK" and client crashed.

It was a great match too probably worth a ton of bloodpoints so I am a bit frustrated.. but has this happened or anyone else experience this since the Patch today??

I have had to "verify integrity of game files" before to get DBD to allow me to even login to the game, but I have never had an issue where I've already been successfully playing for a few ours and THEN got kicked out in the middle of a match before.

Am I really the only one that experienced this?

Idk what it is with DBD but I swear I always end up being the only one with certain bugs and errors/issues all the time :(
