Why don't I rank up if I camp? Do I really have to suffer these sweaty survivors who play as if their life depended on it? Do I really have to chase them and have them T-bag me after they complete a vault? Do I really have to chase these freaks who want to get chased in a loop? Why do they get rewarded for playing like jackasses but killers don't? Regardless of your position on camping, it should not get punished like this.
@Almo said:
This doesn't exactly address the OP, but it's on-topic, and I felt there should be a concise explanation of where we feel camping sits in the game.
It's up to Survivors to punish camping. When I camp, if nobody comes for the rescue, I stop because I'm losing ground. But when they come running, even if they don't rush the hook and just hang around and they're not repairing while the one on the hook is dying, I'm still profiting.
It is true that the Emblem system does not look favorably upon camping... but the best way to stop it to not to reward it.
I know all the arguments and counter arguments about it; I've heard them over and over. :)
One of DbD's core values is "player agency". We want players to have as much input on what happens in matches as possible. Eliminating camping as a strategy removes choice from both the Killer and the Survivors; it limits gameplay possibilities. Deciding to do gens instead of rescuing the one being camped is a moral decision: choosing the good of the many over the good of the one. Sometimes, the Survivors choose the good of the one over the good of the many; when they do, they often suffer dire consequences. But all of that arises from player choice.
I will not say "camping is good gameplay in DbD" as many construe my comments to mean. But the possibility, the choice leading to it, and the choices it requires Survivors to make are all part of what makes the game great: player agency. Removing those choices only reduces the range of decisions to make, which isn't good in the long run.
We have experimented extensively with anti-camping measures. In the end, the result was always that the camper just camped harder, or we had to break fundamental systems to accomodate the anti-camping measure.
All I want is for NOED to gain an extra requirement to punish camping killers that use NOED. It doesn't feel fair that they camp two people to death and then get the other two because noed was granted free. Just make it require all four survs to be hooked once or it works only on hooked players. In normal games without camping the perk would still function as it should assuming everyone is hooked once and it still punishes survs for not doing totems. Also to OP if you rank up from camping you'll just get harder survivors to catch anyway and if you're not leatherface or wraith I bring borrowed time just to piss people like you off and do my best to make sure you get zero kills because camping is scum and camping to secure that 1 person kill is just pathetic in my eyes

Getting stuck in the grab animation can in fact be the result of the survivor's connection. Lag switchers often abuse this fact to make themselves "unhookable" as the killer will get stuck either when trying to pick them up or during the hook animation.
Also grabs have been bugged ever since the addition of dedicated servers so it also can be that issue as well.
Well the only person with a ping over like 70 was claudette at the one point I checked during the game. I would've also seen the indicator to say I was lagging

Back when I played older online games I lived in a house and the router was in the first floor so I played on wifi (my PC was on the second floor).
Now I'm playing on console but my router is right next to the TV so it's wired into the console.
Some people play on Laptops as well and those are using wifi frequently as well.
So.. Yeah both scenarios exist.
Well if the router is across the house that's reasonable.

You realize server hits mean you'll get these kind of hits if your own connection is bad as well, don't you?
If you provided any evidence that your own ping and connection (type) was flawless the pic would mean anything but since you didn't you could have had a 10000 ping on wireless connection - theoretically.
There was also him attempting a grab and then getting stuck. You can't tell me that my connection might be the problem when everything involving him is janky af. None of the other survivors had wonky animations that got stuck or played three times. None of mine did, the person im playing with got hit through a fully dropped pallet

He was hitting everyone from these ranges and when he'd go to pick up survivors the animation would play like three times. Haven't had it happen at all the entire time I've been playing. When my connection is bad I already know the thing shows up in the top corner and i get issues across the board on my pc. This game is dogshit

Game is def still a little more survivor sided. But they don't just balance the game for survivors like OP is saying. The hit detection was great when they recently turned it on but after they turned it off and back on it seems like it's not even there sometimes.
-
This game has been getting balance changes to even out frustrations for both sides. Not just the survivors if they actually only balanced for survivors they never would've made the maps smaller, they would've never added a second door to the killer shacks. Lots of other changes for killers as well. Only the better survivors can actually escape you on these reworked maps if they loop well. The current map reworks with the graphical updates are FOR KILLERS nerfing longer loops and giving a little more power to the short ones. This game is balanced for both sides. You're also not good if you feel Mories were your way of dealing with toxic survivors and that's not what they're for. Its a unique feature to the game that's meant to be cool not abused for 2 minutes games. Also the auras were a bug not an intended change. You and the other people that upvoted for any reason other than mories don't know what you're talking about and its sad.

The devs never said that.
They said "they are keeping an eye on it, it's only been around for a couple months, and they have no plans to do anything with it".
Before ruin/undying gets nerfed based purely on usage, they need to look at *every single exhaustion* perk in the game (Aside from head on).
they said they're keeping an eye on it and will do something if the numbers continue to grow. Its going to get nerfed if the combo becomes meta. They're keeping an eye on it which still means they know its getting to be meta and when it does its getting nerfed.
-
Haven't seen as much ruin undying after the devs confirmed they will nerf undying if people continue to use it more and more ๐ which was funny to me. They basically gave a warning before it happens.

This has happened so many times and im asking myself if these bugged hitboxes will ever be fixed .
I've had it happen maybe twice but i understand the frustration.

That isn't the point. All games are about who makes the most mistakes. If the Survivors made more and the Killer made less (or took proper advantage) you give credit where credit is due. I'm so sick of some Players being hypocritical louts. I'm going to do a blooper reel of end chat to show this off. Please note that I will use the word "trash" in places of a wide variety of insulting hate-speech names used by Players when they insult someone. I often see the following:
Killer Wins with 3-4K:
- You are trash Killer and only won because of your broken add-on(s).
- You are trash Killer and only won because of the map.
- You are trash Killer and only won because of the stupid mistakes of THAT Survivor(s).
- You are trash Killer and only won because of lag.
- You are trash Killer and only won because of toxic play (tunneler, camper, slugger, etc.).
- You are trash Killer and can't win without a Mori.
- Yadda... Yadda... Yadda.
You want to know what I never hear (even when it is true MOST of the time).
- Good game Killer, you outplayed us at every turn.
Why do you think that is? Why is it there are certain Players who can never OWN their own failures nor give credit where credit is due to the other side? Good sportsmanship is based on being humble in victory and gracious in defeat. A key component in that is not making excuses or trying to demean someone else's accomplishments.
I just go by how they play and if they get successful mind games on me. If they don't then i consider them average. If i get away from them in situations where i shouldn't then they're bad. Also depending on how fast my team goes down i consider them bad but its gotta be fast for me to say they're straight up bad

Yes, this is a really common occurrence. When it's an obviously bad killer that took 5+ minutes to catch me they're so proud of themselves...and then I'm shocked to find out they're red rank. They will obviously proceed to tunnel me out of the game as hard as they can.
Its crazy right ?? Like congrats

You don't get to have it both ways. If they Killer got a 4K, they clearly are NOT the worst or even average because the worst don't even do well with mistakes. I despise this kind of hypocritical nonsense. When you get out played by the Killer or Survivors, you were simply out played.
Just because you 4k doesn't mean you're good. Lots of the survivors are ######### at the game so when you've got at least two of them in a game you're bound to get a 4k or at least a 3
-
@Orion said:

That's what happens when you're a bad sport and tunnel and use them right away. You get what you deserve. They're not worthless either you just can't abuse it anymore. I was hoping they'd go the route of requiring you to hook everyone once though but this is fine too

No actually that sounds kind of funny but the killers that I go against only do it after they've won. Though i did have a brave legion knod at me when he finally got me on first hook. I'm like you won't be knodding for long my friend.

One escape per key maybe. They seem difficult to balance to me. Or maybe make it so green key is a solo escape with hatch closing after. Purple key be a two man escape and hatch closes after and Pink key is four man escape with hatch staying open for 5-10 seconds. Or make them all solo escape keys with hatch closing after but give them more aura reading stuff

Huntress needs time to charge her hatchet and in a loop, you can break line of sight (LOS). There are some situations where you have to juke rather than continuing the loop. But depending on the distance, that can change your odds greatly because of the time she spends charging her hatchets. The Deathslinger however ALWAYS enforces breaking LOS otherwise it's a free hit. You can gain distance when the Huntress is charging and begin to juke when she's at the throwing threshold. Deathslinger only makes you lose distance since you have to juke immediately and he has little to no penalty of aiming quickly.
On pallets, Huntress has the advantage since she can down on every pallet if a survivor is going over it. Deathslinger can only down over pallets on certain loops. Both get free hits if they play well enough over pallets but Deathslinger can get the first hit better than Huntress because of his LOS advantage.
Windows are essentially the same for both, pretty guaranteed hits and downs when in chase. Both can get some wacky angles for different reasons. For Huntress it's her hitboxes and for the Deathslinger its the hook aspect into closing the distance.
Huntress hitboxes are ridiculously big so a lot of wacky hits especially with ping involved. She definitely makes a lot of loops more unsafe. Deathslinger hitboxes are much smaller so they can shoot through A LOT of holes in walls on loops and a good Deathslinger will make most loops unsafe in terms of first hit potential. Both will break pallets on loops they can't do much on, otherwise, each have their own strengths on downing potential depending on the loop.
I don't think it's much of a competition in terms of stealth. Deathslinger has the advantage. Huntress can run stealth but most players will be on guard at the LEAST when they hear the lullaby.
I think what makes him far more annoying than Huntress is his first hit potential and the fact that he doesn't have to charge his shot for max speed like huntress. And in his current state, I find him to be a weaker killer that is unfun to go against.
My fav thing when I play DS is when I get those survs that camp pallets or try to challenge me at pallets. Just pop out and shoot asap to catch me before they drop the pallet. It doesn't work everytime but it's gets me giggling like a little girl when it does.
-
I main huntress and play DS every so often.
Huntress has to ready hatchets and they travel a certain distance depending on how long you charge it as well as how far they travel. There is no crosshair or iron sight to show you where the hatchet will go. She (unless using the add on) gets slowed for readying a hatchet and gets a short cool down before she can melee after throwing or putting the hatchet away. She has to reload hatchets at lockers. DS reloads at free will. DS doesn't need to charge his gun up to get the full speed and distance out of his weapon.
While I understand the average huntress will get on your butt and use hatchets it's no different from Billy doing it with chainsaw or even some DS that do it. They just aren't confident in their skill to hit you.
TIP: When running from huntress don't hug walls. When people do this I throw the hatchet a little to the opposite of the wall they hug so that when they try to dodge its a guaranteed hit. It's enough so that if they dodge they get hit and if they don't they get hit.

So was I, and I personally hated his original mechanic for putting people to sleep, it didn't fit lore at all, and it was next to impossible to get any last minute hits because you had to wait for them to fall asleep.
Eh, I'd say a few other killers take the title of lowest skill... I'd say, I've had easier games as Trapper or Wraith, than Freddy... and Trapper requires a lot of end-game prep work with traps.
I only prefer old Freddy because I loved the wall hacks ๐ hated the putting people to sleep part. I think they way he is fits his character more but I really don't like how much he has its just too much.

I'm saying even if you did use it it wouldn't have mattered. What matters is which perk is better on their own, because if you need to use additional perk slots or even offerings to make a perk better, that's a waste of another good perk that could've been used, or a good offering that could've helped.
If self-unhooks become meta, then everyone will run Deliverance because then they can use the other 3 perk slots for other meta perks AND have a good offering, as opposed to Slippery Meat which can waste up to all the Survivor offerings and 1 one your perk slots (1 of everyone's slots, if they also bring it), meaning for your self unhooks you guys used 4-8 perks and up to 4 offerings. Whereas if everyone brought Deliverance you only use 4 perk slots. See what I mean?
EDIT: For your situation of not being found/downed, run DS so you won't get tunneled (another meta perk), if you really want to stealth try Off the Record to mute yourself and leave no blood, and if you get slugged Unbreakable (3rd meta perk).
Getting the 1st unhook isn't really hard, just be immersed until the Killer downs someone. Unless its a bad Killer, you'll get your unhook.
Well I don't use unhook perks. It's just not my preferred way to play, but when it comes to DS I don't like running it too often either because I have to let them catch me before the timer runs out or also use unbreakable and it's just not worth to me though I always forgot about the locker thing with it so I could do that instead though if I do that I'm probably gonna run head on too just in case I get an ass hat that waits at the locker.

Deliverance is a 100% chance of self unhook. Slippery Meat+4 Salty Lips+ Up The Ante still doesn't reach 100% (it's barely over 50% actually), so there's still a small chance you won't get the self-unhook. Still not good. Plus as I said, if you need other perks/offerings to make Perk 1 better than Perk 2, Perk 2 will always be used.
I didn't use up the ante. They gave sloppy and increased chance to get you off the hook and more attempts so I tried it with salty lips. It seemed to work each time for me but I only tried it twice. I'll take my chances over the no heal from deliverance mostly because I have to not be found and hooked first and have to get the first unhook for deliverance to work.
-
@HealsBadMan said:
Just don't slug, or at least walk through pallets, or pick up slugs at pallets...
Wait, don't Killers already do this?
Power Struggle is to DS what Slippery Meat is to Deliverance. If you need other perks to make the former better than the latter, its not better. Deliverance is better than Slippery Meat, and DS is better than Power Struggle.
Slippery meat + salty lips > Deliverance. At least the one or two times I tried it

its crazy how some people think hes balanced in the same way as other killers.
Most of the other killers can get looped hard and have to actually walk across the map. Freddy can teleport. He can also end chases quicker and force you to go across the map to wake up if you choose to not give away your position with failed skill checks. Choose to not wake you and you help make things slower... But he's balanced ???? No.. I don't even play him anymore it's too easy. I just play huntress and complain about playing Legion.
-
@CJCA915 said:
I hate that people say he's low skill, perhaps when compared to Spirit, or Nurse... but otherwise saying he's low skill is eh... Freddy requires a lot of macro level skill, ie - map knowledge, survivor pathing, mind gaming. I think most survivors confuse mechanical skill as the only skill in the game which is why they undervalue stealth and overvalue big spins ๐
Imma stop you there. I was a Freddy main before he got reworked. Winning with that version took skill and all the other things you just listed. Current Freddy gets a lot of stuff for free. He's the lowest skill killer in this game. He has the highest kill rate for a reason.

You'd think they'd just nerf gen speeds again and have the effects of these perks be smaller but they instead give us perks and say solve it yourself.
-
Playing stealth does nothing to help anyone. It forces the killer to tunnel the people who aren't playing stealth which leads you to having no teammates faster. Unless the killer is stubborn about finding you.
-
Sounds like a butt hurt post. A no perk
no item no add on weekend would be nice to mess around with. But specifically taking out second chance perks only on survivor no. Not in for it.

@JHondo said:
Many killers have switched to Survivor or chosen to not play this weekend because of the Bloodlust removal test leading to players getting matched with anyone and everyone as the longer you sit in queue the broader the match making parameters become.
I'd rather sit and wait. Getting a game with two console rank 11s is not worth even playing.
-
Playing huntress nothing feels too different for me. Playing Legion is a ######### show for me at least since i don't run the sloppy butcher spam frenzy builds. Playing Deathslinger still feels the same.
-
Considering you won I don't think they're smurfs. If they are smurfs then they aren't as good as they think or they were just looking to troll.
-
If you want a trapoer buff just let his traps be destroyed when survivor's disarm them and instead of him needing to pick them up they go back to his inventory and he have a limit of like 5 or however many spawn on the map by default. EDIT : Maybe have then recharge having them immediately can make basement trapped potentially unbearable if he instantly has like 5+ traps ready but idk
