Ah yes, and then if I take two steps away from the hook and catch someone just bolting straight in to it, according to the survivor rulebook, I am to ignore said player and let them get the free unhook, otherwise I am the literal equivalent of Satan eating babies. Sorry but there's a complaint for literally everything that I do as a killer. Hell even when I don't tunnel or camp I -STILL- get accused of doing it.
According to survivor rule book some players are guilty because they exist. Crying babies won't go anywhere. There's nothing i can do about it.

Lots of rules for killers to go by if they want a win.
Rule is simple. Go away from your first hook and don't camp him to death.

You cannot balance around hooks. Well, maybe you could, but there would be some things you need to clarify.
- If a survivor reaches the next hook stage, does it count as another hook?
- Does every hook count the same? The third hook (death) is gameplaywise more valuable as a first hook.
- Who wins if every survivor escapes, but the killer has 8 hooks?
I started separate topic to discuss possible camping solutions, u can read the idea.

By now everyone knows how trash the solo experience is. i started to notice how few solo survivors take an item with them into the trial, which i understand. youre going into the game knowing you will lose 9/10 , bringing an item just feels like you just throw it away... Its really time to narrow the gap between SWF and solo players....
I remember that a long time ago the devs talked about kindred being basekit, but that obviously didnt went through. Have there been any other words about some changes for solo players or is it just being ignored that sologames are a trash experience?
SoloQ is fine. If u have 90% loose rate and afraid to use items it's all upon u. Anything that buffs weak survivor players, makes good one unbeatable.

So you’d prefer 8 hooks and 0 kills over 7 hooks and 2 kills? Interesting.
Back to the OP, the balance should be 3 kills (preferably at least 9 hooks) and 1 escape TBH. Killer is supposed to be the power role and survivors should be scared of the killer. This may be an unpopular opinion, but escaping so be a thrilling experience because you outlasted a horrifying situation, not basically a guarantee if you have a good team. Instead we have t-baggers at the exit gates clicking flashlights. Playing survivor doesn’t feel like I’m playing a “survivor”, it feels like I’m playing Pallet Loop Simulator.
It's either they make like u describe or they should rename survivor into swat.

So what should this game be balanced around?
Do you think the game should be balanced around 4 survivors escaping, or the killer getting 4 sacrifices each round?
This game needs to be balanced around 12 hook play, so killer goal would be hook survivors 12 times. 2K is nonsense. I can 2k just by face camp which is 2 hook play.
-
Everyone from your list seems boring. Only one i see interesting is Jack the Ripper from London with mechanic around smog. Like when he turns on his power, everyone becomes blind and vision is limited to 5-10m. That would be awesome.

So, the biggest takeaway from these forums seems to be this general sentiment among people who "play both sides"..."Killer is stressful but the game is super balanced!" So my question is this...Is it such a sin for killer mains to actually want to have fun too? Why is there such a focus on survivor players "having fun" but killers are told to "get good", practice, learn how to do X or how to do Y, are told "Yeah, the killer role is stressful. If you don't like it quit."
It's just such a weird mentality and I don't get it.
And there's nothing wrong with any of mentioned statements. When u play killer u should keep in mind u are going against 4 players and u need to figure out how to outplay each one. So to have some fun u need to fight for it and be good at chasing. Unless u want to play against AI survivors u need to be much better than average survivor.

That sounds like an aweful idea. Do you really want the meg that urban evasioned getting the same amount of points as you ? What about the Claudette who self cared in the corner for 40 seconds because of sloppy butcher ? What about the person who killed themselves first hook because they got found/caught first and ######### your team over ?
Why not? First of all we are teammates and only secondary we are selfish babies fighting about who bring more BP. It will help a lot for those who was tunneled or learns how to play the game.

I find that I'm really... like really really bad at chases. Even with DS most of my chases don't last longer than 30 seconds. So I figured I bring other perks that can help my team like cleansing totems and speeding up gens or Kindred in case I got camped.
Bring Kindred If u play solo. It's almost must have if u want your teammates be efficient. And stick to someone cause when u help them repair gens or 2man healing etc, u get more BP. Also u get BP when u body block.
Bring exhaustion perk to run away and Spine chills to figure out where is killer. Helps a lot.
Even if u are bad at chasing u call pull of 20k BP most of the games.

All I can see is how many hours they have played on dbd and my avarage is around 2k.
Thing is that your other killers get boosted by your best killers and I got there with Blight, when I was grinding for max grade. Now I have to deal with it while playing other killers too.
You don't need to be tournament level survivor / killer to get into high MMR. The cap is not that high. It is possible to deal with that as Legion, but you have to play around 3-gen a lot.
And yeah, I would love to see my MMR on my killers, so I can improve them, but they are not going to reveal it, because we could see how bad it is...
I'm not asking Legion become unbeatable, but it would be different feeling when u loose not because u faced a wall your killer can't surpass but because u did bunch of mistakes. And with Legion when survivor holds W, or loops rly good there's nothing he can do to prevent them doing it.

I wish BHVR would spread survival BP to other actions. Losing 1/4 total bp for not escaping stinks. Thank you for the advice though. Guess I'll switch out some perks to buy time for my teammates.
I'm actually thinking they need to do overall survivor team pool which is capped around 30k BP. So when any survivor does something that benefits his team, points are put into pool. And if team fills it up to 30K, after game each survivor gets 30K no matter the result.

For the records, I have 260 hours play time and the max rank I got is Iri 4.
Farm BP and die. As far as i know, game counts escape as win. Just run all around, clean some totems, help your teammates and when time comes, die. So if u suicide instead of escaping it will tank your MMR.

Multiplayer games where you have to rely on your teammates and go againts other players always had their fair share of toxicity.
Do you think Dead by Daylight stands out as one of the more toxic ones out there?
If so,how would you fix it or at least try to minimize it?
So far, these are the things players in general find toxic in this game:
Flashlight clicking,t-bagging,camping,slugging,trolling,wasting pallets for no reason, hitting a survivor on hook.
Personally I think the game was designed in such a way that it will create a lot of toxicity just based on the mechanics of the game.
If u are going to complain about flashlight clicking, t-bagging, camping, slugging, trolling, wasting pallets for no reason, hitting a survivor on hook, then i suggest u never go on PvP games. Because every single PvP game has something that will make u mad.
While i can agree sometimes clicking and t-bagging are annoying and not everyone plays according to survivor rulebook, there's nothing that harmful about it. Unless u are 40 years old virgin, but i think it's a different story.
If anything is toxic in this game it's after game chat and it rly needs to be improved. Cause it doesn't matter how u play, players are always mad. They win - ggez, they loose - they will find reason to blame u even if one of them literally suicided (played bad) on u, guess who is guilty?

I have probably over 200 hours just on Legion and trust me that you will not get many chained hits on high MMR. That is main issue of Legion.
This would help stomp noobs, but will not help against good players.
And main problem is that this change would block any possible buffs to Frenzy, because if you buff movement speed / duration, then you will have power that will insta-down + injure all other survivors + slow-down the game. That would be really annoying to play against.
Good survivors would deal with it by camping pallet and stun you after you hit them. It is really annoying, but not that many teams do it. You can counter this with Enduring for possible insta-downs tho (if you get on same side of the pallet as survivor).
I doubt u will get high MMR players who can outplay Spirit, Had or even Nurse and suddenly loose to a Legion.
Even if u are best Legion in the world, your results will be meh against survivors who can play around A/S tier killers.
Untill devs reveal everyone's MMR , everyone thinks he is against high MMR when game becomes tough.

Hag/Huntress/Trickster/Nurse/Spirit/Oni needs to earn it and there is counter-play to them. You can have good chases with them.
Your legion would get free first hit and then just followed survivor till he bleeds out in 20 seconds. 0 skill needed, 0 counter-play. Yes, it would be broken and really unfun to play against.
Then what's your idea to improve his 1v1, cause currently it's a joke. And buffing Feral Frenzy isn't an option. It's doesn't matter how fast u was once u hit fatigue.
-
@Dino7281 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2541821#Comment_2541821
Yeah, that's what I thought...
Legion acutally doesn't have that bad 1v1 -> you have free first hit, you need to get down as M1 killer, which can take long with lot of pallets, that's why you need to support him with perks.
Your version of Legion would be the most broken thing in dbd.
"give Legion back bleeding mechanic so DW timer doesn't freeze and start ticking from moment he hit survivor."
So you are fast af and can down anyone in 20 seconds just by running after them, so they can't mend? Yeah, balanced...
2 sec stuns would be already broken, because survivor would not get enough distance for any decent chase. You have free first hit, then you would run in front of him and cancel your power for easy down.
Your Legion would become the most hated killer again and nerfed to the ground again.
Btw mending takes 8 seconds and it is really easy to apply, so it is not really bad slow-down.
Legion has slow-down power and also detection. He really doesn't need good 1v1, you just need buffs, so he is able to use his power even against decent survivors.
His add-ons are not that bad. PH, Ghostface have bad add-ons... Legion can use addons for:
-reduces Feral Frenzy Recovery time.
-increases Feral Frenzy duration.
-decreases Feral Frenzy Fatigue duration.
Those are probably his best add-ons to use, but you can get some use from:
-increases Killer Instinct Detection range. (more info)
-increases Survivors' Mending time (better slow-down)
and Iridescent Button is really strong add-on.
Smiley Face Pin (Blidness) can be quite annoying and I have never really used Fuming Mix Tape, but it can give good info.
If u think all of this is broken, then u clearly never met Hag/Huntress/Trickster/Nurse/Spirit/Oni and others who can get down in less than 10sec.
Yeah so broken that i find it funny. 😂

Unless you want to give him shotgun, survivors will always will be able to loop him forever, if they are better than him. His power should not help you actually down survivor and I am fine with that, you can support this play-style with perks quite well. I love using Enduring + Spirit fury.
Of course he needs to get stun, it would be super broken without it...
His problem is that against good survivors you can't really use your power, because survivors will instantly split and run asap they hear your TR in frenzy. My changes would help that.
You would get less stun, so it would be easier to catch survivor.
You would get faster, so it should be easier to get chain hits.
When you think this wouldn't fix anything, then tell me. What would you do?
Legion biggest problem he is very weak 1v1. He has literally nothing outside of m1 to end chase and fatigue doesn't make it any better, so even if u give him 100m/s during Feral Frenzy it's pointless if he can't end chase fast.
If we keep fatigue it should be around 2sec stun cause otherwise u still pray survivors hit u with a pallet because 4sec is nuts and pallet stun is 2sec.
DW is a joke against good survivors. It's timer freezes if u keep chasing survivor, and if u leave him he immediately start mending. And it takes him around 5-6sec to mend that feels kinda meh.
His addons.... How many of them Legion uses when he goes for win or a decent play with 2-3 kills, 3-4? Others are just meh to mess around.
Buff his addons a little bit because having +0.1sec/ +0.2sec or similar is a joke, and give Legion back bleeding mechanic so DW timer doesn't freeze and start ticking from moment he hit survivor.

@Dino7281 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/285380/give-legion-this-buff
Isn't it just Frank's Mix Tape? Which is really bad add-on for Legion...
Changes I would do:
QoL changes:
- The Legion may see the blood pools of injured Survivors during Feral Frenzy.
- Feral Frenzy begins to replenish at the start of the fatigue state.
- The depletion of Feral Frenzy pauses while performing the break, damage and search interactions.
Buffs:
- Feral Frenzy’s movement speed is increased to 6 m/s after applying Deep Wound.
- Feral Frenzy’s fatigue state is 3 seconds and a missed Feral Frenzy attack prompts a 4 second fatigue state.
Do this and I am happy Legion main. Maybe some add-on rework would be nice too.
Thx NO. It doesn't change any of his problems for current Legion mains. U still can't prevent players from looping u forever, still stun yourself and give chance to escape, add-ons are still mostly useless.
-
I think Legion with a shot gun is more interesting idea....

A concede option should leave behind a husk. It's not dead, it continues to bleed out like normal, and the killer can either leave it there or hook it or mori it. It would be exactly like if the slugged person just went AFK, which is what a lot of them do right now anyway. If there's a notification that the survivor conceded, then the benefit it would give is the other survivors would know not to throw away their lives trying to pick the husk up off the ground.
When I play survivor, I try to pay attention to if someone seems to have gone AFK. I feel bad when my teammates die trying to heal someone who's not even there.
I'm afraid players will just abuse it to avoid Dc penalty. While i think there should be way to surrender, i have no ideas how to make it fair for everyone.
-
@Yords said:
There is a pretty solid reason why this can't be added in the game. That reason is survivor players who just don't want to play in a game due to something in that match being considered boring for themselves.
- Playing against spirit, blight, pyramid head, or any good killer? Leave match and ruin it for others without punishment.
- Being slugged even for a legitimate reason? Leave the match and ruin it for the others.
- Being slugged even for just 20 seconds to place some traps or reload projectiles? You guessed it, they would leave the match for being slugged.
Remember what the game was like before DC penalties? It would be that over again, but this time the survivors doing it could walk away unpunished.
And another thing, how long of a slug would be enough to consider a concede option? A minute? 2 minutes? 3 even? If you are slugged for up to a minute or two, there is a good chance that your teammates are at fault (if the killer isn't right on you).
And there is a good reason to do this as well, you could be slugged for a minute because the killer needs pressure.
So no, a give up option for being slugged would not work out for this game. Not in the slightest.
I agee if surrender won't open hatch and give some BP rewards for everyone else.

I know not everyone enjoys slug mechanic but if u add Concede button, it will benefit survivors even more. Currently survivors die on hook to open hatch. If they do same while slugging, well it will be almost impossible to get 4k.

Ironically the old system without MMR worked better at making newer players play against newer players. I've read a lot of new players that are going against people with 3K hours.
Older system was worse. It was completely Rng based. And yes, new players also played against 2-3k players.
Only difference now is mythical mmr that pushed majority play to win.

I have found another way how killers can kill the game for survivors before it even starts.
The game started of against Hag. She had the following perks; undying; ruin, bbq and chilli, and pop. On top of this she had purple addons. The hex totems was in shack as was basement, where she set traps along with traps around all the gens. The survivors had no tool boxes or flashlights, one player did have prove thy self who was trying to work on gens on her own.
The game went like this. Survivors get one gen done, the rest of the game had survivors getting trapped at every gen, where the killer appeared and killed them. The gen then regressed without the killer even having to go near it because of ruin. She then proceeded to take the survivor to the basement and then hover round the shack, waiting for another trap to go off. and she would move the survivor away from the gen, where it regressed to nothing before putting down another trap. and going back to shack, without chasing the survivor. There was no way to get to the hooked survivor or the hex as she was just guarding them and no way to do gens. The game was at a deadlock until the survivors just gave up. No skill was needed by the killer, just perks.
I love a challenge and do not get upset when I lose, but to have to just either walk to the killer or dc to end the game is stupid. That's not even close to a fair game. If I was a new player then I would have just uninstalled then gone a played something else. On a game where matchmaking and ranking has obviously been changed because of long waits, which still happen and games are so mismatched, surly any new player needs to see the potential and be given at least a chance to win. A new player comes into the game with no perks, then gets matched with a killer with all these perks, what chance do they have.
When I spoke to the killer after the game, he said that he did it to stop us gen rushing. We did one gen, how is this gen rushing?
So u were trying to do gens, she forced u away and end up killing u all. How's that even unfair?

This is one of those things that becomes pretty awkward for me, as I do try to consider that there is a living, breathing human on the other end of those avatars.
So - the situation. We've all been there.
Game starts, I manage to catch someone and they rage DC. Possibly other players follow. Or more annoying, just goes and stands AFK next to a hook somewhere.
Now, there are 2 or 3 survivors left, and maybe 3 or 4 gens.
I can either close the game out, or I can give them a break, chase them around, wound them, let them earn some BP and maybe let them escape.
I tend to do the latter. I don't like punishing other players because of one rager or troll and I feel legit bad.
However, wow - for every team that thanks me for doing this, another rages at me for 'holding the game hostage'. And of course, I get raged at if I just annihilate everyone.
It sort of feels like there is no right move here.
TL/DR: Survivors, in a situation where someone rage DCs or AFKs, would you prefer it if the killer just closes the game out ASAP, or would you prefer it if they went easy and let you earn some BP/escape?
I would prefer to punish Dc guy for ruining other 4 players game. If someone Dc early on, it's surrender time. I never had a game i could pull off 4 gen play by my own and it's really really hard to do it when u are 3man.

Right, "just play in a SWF duh" as a solution to the issues with solo queue. You don't see how that might signify that there's a massive balance (and fun) issue here? If one game mode is just superior to the other in every single way, you don't think that might be something that should be addressed by the devs instead of them keeping their heads in the sand?
People told me MMR would fix these issues with solo queue but it's actually worse than ever.
Can u explain me how other soloQ players can hit rank1 and enjoy games while some players complain about everything. Do we play different games?

Ok you’re talking about dodging for weaker competition. Are SWF’s dodging SoloQ to avoid weaker teammates, no?
I mean those killers who only search solos at some point will hit a wall of very very long dodging queue if they keep avoid any kind of swf. So revealing swf won't hurt them much.
Look at MMR, while killers complain, they still search match longer while for survivors it's instant.

I know this isn’t a new topic but I haven’t been playing DbD for the last 3 chapters and I forgot what the arguments against it were. Collectively survivors get 16 perks to mix n match but the Killer is locked in with just 4?
so what was it again? Was it because all the slow down perks the Killer could use? Was it because low level survivors are already struggling with a 4 perk Killer? Or something else that has just slipped my mind?
Genuine question, I’m not hinting that Killers deserve 5 perks, I just remember similar topics and people had serious concerns but I can’t for the life of remember who Killers shouldn’t have 5 perks.
Because Nurse is a dbd killer Queen and King in one face. Anything that buffs others makes her broken.

Okay do some math for me. 2 gens and 2 totems... each? Do you think that there are 8 generators and 8 totems on the map?
After the first couple gens pop and it's clear the killer is AFK, I start looking for totems because I know some BS is coming. Maybe I find one? Maybe someone else already did them. Maybe while my teammates are slamming out the gens, I don't find any totems and end up wasting my time and then I just have to leave.
How is any of this my fault. Make it make sense for me.
There are 7 gens 4 people. U refuse to repair gen with someone else? I rly don't understand how it's a problem. Only time i had -1 was either i was tunneled right from start, or i was afk.

It seems so obvious that you should get a guaranteed black pip if you escape unless you were literally afk all match. There are only so many generators and totems you can do and there's zero opportunity to get any Chaser or Altruism emblem unless the killer is literally a bot swinging their weapon so you can heal.
2 gens 2 totems + escape. U will never be -1 so mb killers wasn't only one who was AFK.

I am a killer main who plays survivor very rarely. My post isn't just some entitled survivor nagging on about tunnelling for the 367th time. It's a killer expressing how much more fun they have when they don't tunnel.
And yes, sometimes I do have very fun games as survivor - even If I lose - because I looped the killer well and the killer had some fun mindgames up their sleeves.
I never said u are guilty or entitled or whatever. I know Dbd community is full of this crap, but when u suggest something, mb it's better to address your ideas to everyone?
I doubt killers will agree with u when survivors still are going to run meta/swf.

Hello fellow survivors, please stop relying on your perks and actually learn to play. Bringing up DS DH BT and coms every game won't make u any better, so stop abusing it.
Yes, it makes the game more challenging, but who wants easy games every time? And you DON'T have to win every match you play! Sometimes, I have more fun in the matches that I lose because the killers looped me well and I actually had to try in order to escape.
Did i miss something? 😂

Keep in mind that the 'wallhack' is getting nerfed again. It's a pretty rare addon.
It's doesn't change i don't enjoy playing against Wraith.

For whatever reason.
For me:
Survivor: Claudette. Not only are they inevitably the most BM player, for some reason, but nothing urinates directly into my favorite breakfast cereal like a Blendette that wants to play hide and seek and stall the match out.
Killer: Doctor. I tend to startle easily, and this guy inevitably jumpscares me at least once a game. Also see: Spirit.
Survivor - don't care. I rly don't see any diffrence. It's just meat bag that is destined to be hooked.
Killers - Wraith. In my experience it's most boring killer to play around. 150% move speed and wallhack is not something interesting to play around.

Do you mean - will DbD grow further?
I think the problem is, right now, a stale 'genrush vs. 1 or 2 high tier killers with specific perks' meta, and a general feeling of helplessness from killer mains - particularly due to SWF. The killers should really be a big draw, but I know that when I started - it did not make a positive impression. I'd love to know how many new players join, wanting to play their favorite killer and quickly realize that, unlike other asymmetric PvP games, the 'solo' role is not the 'power' role - and end up leaving.
It also has one of the most notoriously toxic communities online, outside of MOBAs.
Every video game has toxic community, here we have very soft punishments. Most time problem is just ignored.

Never. They value babies too much and hide too much information. To get at your numbers they need to make game more or less fair for both sides. Improve mechanics so game become Skill vs Skill and not perks vs killers not to mention swf and map design problem. Reveal player statistics so each player can see how he is performing and figure out where he is good and where needs more practice.
Something like:
- Your MMR as killer/survivor- X
- Games played as killer overall - X
- Games played as Clown (and for any other killer too) - X
- Games played as survivor - X
- Game length - X
- Successful escapes - X
- Kills made- X
- Average.....
Statistics about everything.
Fix multiple lag issues, and balance killers so there won't be useless or underperforming ones.... It will be huge wall of text that needs to be improved and why.
Look at those 1m+ player base games. When u play them it doesn't feel like game is unbalanced or has some issues, it doesn't feel like u lack any kind of information. Like if i launch LoL and play a game, i can check anything i want about any player i want any time. And even if i have some concerns i have a replay to watch how other player performed.
