  • If your on steam, try this

After loading into the game if you click on a character you own but currently locked and proceed to buy it through which brings up steam ingame purchase option then back out, all my characters returned

  • They do sometimes read some of them, replies to some of them too, and it's possible the mods send the worst bug reports to them.

I don't think it's often though that the devs pop by since they are busy working on the game, I could be wrong though.

  • Even better, they could tie this in with the crafting system they spoke of a while ago.

All unused addons and items could be used to craft charms. Say 100 common items for a common charm, knowing bhvr though it would be 5k items lol.

  • Atmosphere would be nice. A change to the lighting, the old moonlight would be nice. The rays shining through the shack like in the Pinhead intro, that looks beautiful.

There are more and more daylight maps being introduced which takes away from the atmosphere.

Talking of daytime maps, aren't survivors supposed to be dead by daylight?

  • Scratch mirror myers is the only scary thing in this game tbh. I know it is called jumpscare myers but he is more than that as he has a psychological aspect that induces paranoia.

Once you find out he's scratch mirror you start trying to avoid staying near doorways. If you're sat on a gen that doesn't give you a clear view of your surroundings you are paranoid he will pop up any second. If he leaves chase but you can't see him walk off, the game map or lerys for example, you're more likely to waste time camping a strong loop until you're sure he's gone. The only thing that destroys him is swfs.

Dbd needs more psychological scares, more paranoia inducing killers, to make the game scary again. Yes there are other stealth killers but they give warnings, such as pig charging, or can be broke out, such as ghost face or a flashlight on wraith.

  • @Thrax said:

1 facecamped person should equal 3 people doing 3 gens and so on

The games I play as survivor are one person facecamped, 3 people trying to hook bomb lol.

  • The only changes I think myers needs is the ability to regain stalk. For every gen completed the survivors have 20% more stalk added. Yes, you can add overstalk for another 100% but if they haven't been stalked at all it will be pointless to have all that once the final gen is done.

Also to change penalty around so he stalks faster from further away but slower when close by. Whenever did myers stalk Laurie in the movies right up against her face lol.

This way myers does not run out of being able to gain tier 3 so quickly and stalking is more in line with the movie lore.

  • What do you class as an absolute camp though?

The boring ones who will do it with five gens remaining, only getting about 20-30k from the match with bbq and then coming on here to complain about the grind even though more hooks would have got them more bp?

If that's the case I completely agree with you as that is no fun at all, especially the survivor who may only leave with 5k bp.

Or do you mean facecamping after the final gen is done?

I completely disagree if this is the case as it's the killer trying to secure a kill, unless he knows the gates are not 99'd and someone is close by or has blood warden. I will facecamp after the final gen is done. In fact it happened earlier today and got me 2 more kills, sometimes it fails too and they all get away.

On the map Gideo meat plant by the stairs is a unbreakable pallet that can only be destroyed from one site

I found that out. Unfortunately there was a Dwight freshly hooked and someone threw the pallet. He must have thought I was camping but really I was confused as to why it wasn't breaking lol.

  • I'm completely the opposite. I am escaping more than I used to before sbmm. Now it's roughly a 45% escape rate compared to roughly 20% before sbmm. This excludes being camped most of the game until I am sacrificed.

A lot of my killer games, roughly 70-80% of them, seem to throw impossible to beat survivors my way leaving me with devastating loss after loss.

The game is definitely not killer sided for the mediocre killer mains out there.

  • @Marik13 said:

Already been tried. Survivors abused it. BHVR reverted the changes. The end.

Could they not try it like if a survivor is also within 10 meters, to avoid looping abusing it, this will cancel out the camping penalty. So face camping is 8 metres is the slower hook progress, survivor within 10 metres, normal hook progress. For example, a survivor hooked in the basement and another looping the shack and a possible very close loop to it.

  • When I first heard about them I thought they would be good. Instead they just added a couple of seconds on an already time limited role as killer. They put them in places where there was easy access to before they were added.

  • Yes, I suppose I could 'get good' versus 4 toolboxes with bnp.

I could 'get good' playing a low mobility or m1 killer who has no gen pressure on macmillon in which my only hopes are trying to 3 gen. Then I can't protect 3 gens with 4 survivors on them and when you try to chase they start to run to the other side of the map to lure me away.

I could 'get good' trying to learn a new killer against extremely sweaty and fast games fairly quickly.

I could 'get good' running perks that would actually help me compliment my killer powers instead of having to run gen slowdown perks due to the games bad design.

I could 'get good' if I managed to break the final pallet on the map as all the survivors are extremely good loopers who seem to know exactly where every unbroken pallet is.

I could 'get good' if stretched resolution did not exist.

I could 'get good' as survivor if I'm tunnelled and camped every game.

I could 'get good' if the map rng worked in my favor everytime I loaded into a map.

Do you get the point yet. I am sure the op is trolling us talking about how fair the game is. Not everyone will be God tier at this game no matter if they played for 100 or 10,000 hours. I have over 2k hours and I'm still mediocre at best. I don't seem to have the capacity to increase my skill anymore no matter how much I play, I don't mind this though, I just want to have fun. I just want fair, balanced matches with people around my skill level so I at least have a chance.

Finally, 'get good' is the worst advice that could be given for anything. The people who thinks this is acceptable are probably the egotistical survivors who dc on first down as their outplay failed or killers who dc after their camping attempt fails and 4 gens end up popping before they recapture the survivor they are tunnelling.

  • Although I am still for sbmm, it still has problems that need to be worked out.

I voted no however I would like to clarify one thing since you only gave us 2 choices.

As survivor, it seems to be working almost perfectly. I see the kinds of teams dropping in quality as I am first found and camped and tunnelled straight out of the game with around 5k bp multiple times in a row. Then I see the quality raise when I have managed to escape many times in a row. The killers mostly seem to be around my skill level, I do get the ones way above me now and again. I can't speak of some of the ones who tunnelled and camped due to being caught working on a gen in a dead zone.

As killer, it seems mmr does not drop enough when losing about 20 games in a row, losing being 0k or 1k with 4 or 5 hooks all game. Even when games are ending within 5 minutes and 3 gens popping before my first or second hook, I still mostly get sweaty games. There should be a multiplier to the rating score lost over multiple losing streaks, whatever bhvr classes as a loss.

Tldr For killer, no it does not seem to be working. For survivor, it seems to be working fine for now.

  • When trying out new killers you don't want to be facing full on sweaty matches but you also don't want survivors allergic to gens. It needs to be the middle ground.

When facing full sweaty matches there is not the time to be looking at your mistakes and trying to improve, as frustration in the game grows the less your likely to take in when it comes to learning the killer.

For example, if I wanted to learn nurse against really good loopers and extremely efficient gen progress I would find it incredibly difficult to have time to take anything in. I won't learn blink distance because of all the jukes, which as you know is very important to know.

If I faced average survivors I will be more likely to get the odd hit in, learn blink to fatigue time, be able to understand the basics of how the survivors will try to mind game me. Yes I will still lose quite a lot of matches as my understanding grows but I will learn a lot if I'm not going against full on sweat squads who have all gens done by the time I hit a blink.

I want to start new killers in the shallow end of the pool, not thrown straight into the deep end.

  • It's not only gens though, pallets too. There are far too many of them and, although not efficient for the killer, a survivor could run you all game and immediately drop pallets. There will still be a few left at the end too. If you switch chasing survivors during this, they can still continue doing this. The only way to break them all is to ask all survivors not in a chase to politely stop what they're doing because if they carry on doing their objectives, like they should, the game will end quickly.

I swear that in a game earlier there were 3 pallet loops very close together. On one side was a TL, on the other a jungle gym. Then after that 2 more pallets close by. I think, but I could be wrong here, it was one of the macmillon maps. I thought I needed to get rid of them quickly, 3 gens popped before leaving the jungle gym and I still didn't get a hook lol.

  • I don't know why but I prefer it this way. They should have made it a pinboard in the killer shack, pinning the offerings to it.

  • So what does making everyone rank 20 have to do with it lol. It's grade, it doesn't matter what you are since it has nothing to do with any survivors skill for matchmaking

  • It's not rank anymore, it's grade and has no effect on matchmaking apparently

  • @Killmaster said:

"Then after 3 hooks, 5 gens finished, they don't think 'oh, the killer had a bad game, let's just leave'. They stand there rubbing it in your face"

Regarding this qoute OP, consider this as someone who primarily plays survivor but does understand how annoying it is to play as killer. We do not remember your steam name/gamertag/psn we remember the killer. We remember every time Bubba has facecamped us, wraith has smacked us after coming out of his silent bell, huntress has oneshotted us with her red addon. So when we play against a killer that isn't super sweaty we gloat because we know just how oppressive it can be to face them, it's like finally teaching Freddy, blight or hillbilly a lesson after they ran tinkerer and won't let us finish any gens. So don't take it personally.

If a killer hard camped and stood there smacking the hooked survivor the killer would get a lot of hate calling them toxic.

Do you like it when that happens? Take the win with grace.

  • You are obviously a good killer that deserves the strong survivors you get. Not everyone is a really good killer, some like me are mediocre at best and cannot perform well with strong survivors. Just because you're a great killer, you're forgetting there are some that aren't.

Getting them game after game is awful and ruins the fun, 0k all the time

  • @MrCalac123 said:

Only 1 perk in the game tells me you are a bad player, and that is NOED. Everything else is fair game.

Noed is good against the bully squads. If you can get someone down just before final gen pops and camp the hook, they are none the wiser. They all run at you to bodyblock the way back, slugs lol. Works even better with save the best for last.

  • @Marik13 said:

I'm thinking what ever broke with the rewards being sent out for the reset also broke the entire MMR too. Had that last night too where I had 5 games in a row of sweats who just demolished me. Didn't matter if I was in my best and most played killer, or my worst and least played killer, the sweat squads were out in force last night. Which is weird cus Saturday I was in a pretty good spot having matches that weren't too easy, but not disgustingly hard and one sided like last night.

I am noticing this Saturday pattern emerging. You are not the first and I think that may have been my good day too. I wonder if something happened since then.

  • @Markness said:

Hard matches as killer, easy ones as survivor. Despite what the killvivor streamers tell you, this game is very survivor-lopsided and if people with an IQ over 80 do their objective (gens) then you will never ever be able to hook everyone 3 times, especially if they're running DS. If survivors play and want to win, you will lose. Survivors want variance in their games in terms of what killer they're up against but if you don't play one of the strong 3 killers then you're going to lose.

Yeah, and they complain about only going against the same killers too lol.

Bhvr needs to realise that the killer should have the power role, and I suppose the really good killers do, but to mediocre killers and below the survivors are the true power role, especiallybeing a 4v1 and a lot of killers don't have high map pressure.

On another note, I tried some clown again since making this post, who I played a lot when I had the day everything seemed balanced and I am getting good, balanced matches with him. I have played wraith and Doctor more but clown seems to be the only killer sbmm is working for with me.

The only problem with this is if you balance gens more, tunneling is MORE effective because the killer is no longer punished for pushing out 1 or 2 survivors the whole match, and you know people would continue to abuse this, AND it would be an even better strat.

Matches won't get more fair. They'll just be even worse for the survivors.

There isn't really a way to fix this unless they need gen regression perks as a whole as a side effect, but even then, that ALSO encourages tunneling more because gen regression is less effective and gens are slower.

The only way to fix this is to punish killers for choosing to tunnel by reducing their scores/MMR for doing so, which I don't think is really fair either, as it is an effective strat and is also trying to force the players into a certain play style.

What if bhvr gave incentives to go after someone else such as extra bp if the next hit is not the unhooked survivor or something along those lines. I am more of a bp chaser than a killer so it would entice others like me to do so.

I understand that there are some killers out there that won't bother about this and continue to tunnel but bhvr cannot fully fix this as they tried before but survivors abused it, I can't remember what they tried though because it was a while ago lol.

  • It is one of the wraiths best add ons imo and I normally combine it with the no terror radius when uncloaking brown add on, which should be a yellow at least I think.

The problem is that this is an iri add on, which is supposed to be ultra rare, however you come across them in blood webs fairly often. Ultra rare to me means it should only have a 5-10% chance to spawn in a bloodweb but it occurs a lot more often than that.

Mmr means you gonna eat a lot of dirt. But I guarantee you provided you don't tilt to oblivion after two or three losses (whatever winning might be) you will have a much chiller lobby. What I'm more annoyed by is how absurd queue times are and I don't think its pinhead increasing killer population because I see only a few pyramid head.

I have played over 50 matches these last three days and the games are not balancing at all.

  • @Marik13 said:

So on killer side I had a similar experience last night where I had 5 games in a row of sweaty sweaty survivors (by sweaty I mean, before I can end my first chase I got 3 gens popping off with, coordinated SWFs with rocking DS and meta perks, keys, all going for the 4E, etc.). It didn't matter what killer I played, whether my strongest or my weakest that I never play, I kept going against survivors that just completely rolled me.

Now this past Saturday it didn't feel like this at all. Not saying I won all my matches Saturday, but every game felt somewhat winnable at least and I didn't get completely stomped like this. I don't know what happened between then and now, and I was wondering if something actually was wrong or if it was just me. But either way last night was not fun AT ALL.

I had this on one day, not sure it if was Saturday or not but it's a possibility, where all my killer matches were perfectly balanced. I could get between 1k-4k each match, they were tough but manageable. This is what kept me playing.

Ever since that day ended though I'm lucky to get 1k in my matches as most teams I face are extremely strong, even when playing multiple matches with a new killer I had not tried yet.

My thing is I DON'T want to be a top player. I'm not f***ing Otz, I know I'm no where near being a top player and that's fine, I just want to play the game, chill, and have fun. The problem is, it's kinda hard to have fun when I'm getting matched against survivors who completely eclipse my skill level and just roll over me completely. Say what you want but no one enjoys getting completely destroyed in anything and that kinda makes things hard to enjoy when it happens frequently.

This has been exactly what's been happening to me. It wouldn't be too bad if it is two absolutely horrendous matches followed by a nicely balanced one but it isn't. It's a complete annihilation match after match with maybe a breather every 1/10 to 1/20 matches.

This is not the balance that was promised. I know it's a new system that needs working on but, let's be honest, how long have they been testing mmr for. It still ends up like this.

  • Close to uninstalling anyway. It seems nothing can resolve the state of the game and the direction it is headed.

I play games for enjoyment but the matchmaking has got so ridiculous I'm now feeling more frustration than enjoyment.

  • @HaunterofShadows said:

ok so with this information I've dwindled it down to haunt chaser (which is more similar to friday the thirteenth in terms of fighting back) , I'll assume carnival hunt because the only thing I saw in there was hiding, dying, and running, and ash vs evil dead which even though there is fighting back you said yourself that is the one your most interested in.

There has to be something amonst them because I am honestly so close to uninstalling this game due to how unfair the matchmaking is being lately. It has taken all the fun from the game and leads to a lot more frustration than it does enjoyment.

Utterly disappointed in the way this game is headed and I was all for sbmm to begin with thinking matchmaking would be even.

  • Sorry but I have been trying to play fair, no tunnelling or camping for a few days now until most gens are completed. Still mostly 4 survivors escaping and getting t bagged at the gate.

Tunnelling is the only way to make for a fair match for mediocre skill players.

  • @TicTac said:

I have a feeling they take the average from the 4 survivor. Too many matches, where i have a clear weak link.

The problem is I have been trying to play fair, no tunnelling, no sweat. However this gets you nowhere anymore in this game. I was hoping playing fair would drop me enough to carry on playing like this and still have good matches. Unfortunately though it's not working.

  • I have lost about 90% of my matches and still getting 4/5 games with a 0k, possible 1k.

You may, or may not, get more balanced matches unless, like me, they decide to send survivors more than triple your skill level.

Seriously, over these past three days I may have got a 2k or more on about 5 of them after roughly 40-50 matches.

There seem to be a lot more tunnellers and campers too, it has happened to me a lot and I'm back with survivors hiding in corners scared of getting close to the hook so it seems more forgiving as survivor.

  • Not getting any time to sweat today. 3 hooks, boom, all gens done.

    This game is getting ridiculous.

  • Although the guy seems alright on the videos they make, I don't know him personally. Therefore it would make no difference to me.

They may actually end up with a team who listen to the community and balance the game properly if it ended up with an entirely new team. Greed has set in with this one unfortunately and, as long as the game keeps rolling in the cash, the players are just fodder to them now and I personally don't feel valued as a player anymore.

  • Hopefully now they have consistent data with the system they can start doing proper balancing to the game. In a year or 2 we may be getting proper matches lol.

I won't hold my breath but it's possible.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

we got maurice so why not. put jeffs dog in the cage of the carnival. or somewhere on ormand

But didn't the entity bring Maurice into the realm with the clown?

  • Bbq is run often to increase the bloodpoints gained, it normally goes unused once all characters have been levelled as there are better tracking perks out there. Unfortunately most of us have not got that far yet.

It is actually an anti camp perk, you only see the aura of those outside of a certain distance. If you are in the killers terror radius it should not show your aura and encourages the killer to move away from the hook to stop that gen being worked on in the distance. It is very easily countered by either hiding in a locker or hiding behind the gen, not working on it, if you're at the right angle. It's not impossible to do that.

Unfortunately most do use it for bp though and campers will ignore the auras even if they see 3 on the other side of the map.

It's more of a casual perk imo, not sweaty at all.

  • The only thing that really stood out to me is '20 minute matches'. How on earth are you getting 20 minute matches, I envy you right now lol.

There are times when I think 'it's right out in the open, bye hex perk'. If it's ruin, it will be cleansed quickly. If it's Devour, they don't tend to take notice until it procs then they are quite easy pickings if they start to swarm the hex lol. That was before sbmm unfortunately, things are very different now lol. Even in Hawkins it managed to spawn in clear view in a hallway :(

Survivors have to do the same thing. Ds BT and UB are all used to stop annoying gameplay mechanics

I was talking about gen speeds only, survivors do not really need perks to increase gen speeds.

If the games didn't end so quickly, gens were not popping all over the place and a lot of people were experiencing 4 escapes tunnelling a camping would decrease. It will never go away completely as that's how some people play.

I have noticed that If I try to play fair, I get the 4 man escapes. If I try to get it down to 3 people, I have a chance to get a 2k or more. For example, I seemed to have a baby Dwight in a game yesterday and after I hooked him once, for the bbq stacks, I was going to let him escape. Since I did not tunnel him out, with him being the weak link, I ended up with a 1k. I had to eventually kill the guy I wanted to live.

Back to topic, gen speed perks only I was speaking about.

    You can shoot them.

Friday the 13th and dead by daylight stun mechanics are better since I prefer the run for your life aspect rather than the run and gun aspect.

  • What about the og sonic drowning warning playing in the last 5 seconds of egc, then during the death when the entity claims them the og sonic death music plays lol.

Survivors also have to waste perk slots to cover for bad design. Survivors have to use Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time to prevent proxy-tunneling or face-camping. Also, as survivor, you are almost required to run an exhaustion perk so you can extend chases long enough for your teammates to do gens.

I was mainly talking about gen slowdown and speed up perks. I understand the need for others :)

What do you consider a win rate? I assume you are not talking about 3 and 4 kills as being a win, because I've been keeping track of my matches and survivors are dying at a much higher rate with the new MMR system than previously. I'm getting an average of 1 escape every 3 kills, which is freaking insanely bad.

Well it seems sbmm wants 2k, 2 escape. I am getting 0k or 1k in most my matches as all the survivors seem to loop perfectly. 30% was being extremely generous.

  • @Veinslay said:

I don't think this system is working the way that BHVR says it should be.

I'm trying to get Adept Hag since rank reset just happened and I still needed this trophy. I know how to play Hag and have been a killer main for a long time, but I almost never play her except for dailies because I don't find her that fun. I'm getting demolished over and over trying to get this achievement by very strong survivor teams that know how to counter her perfectly. They're either destroying all my traps with flashlights, following and spotting where I'm putting traps and triggering the traps at the very edge intentionally and bee-lining to the nearest strong structure, and they're immediately running off and healing after getting hit so I never get a chance to get a down from a teleport. I'm talking seven out of the last eight matches have been four escapes with one of the games I didn't even have a hook by the time 4 gens were done, so I just stopped playing and opened the gates when the completed the last gen. My MMR is not adjusting to the fact that I'm getting stomped every game. I keep getting the same extremely strong teams over and over again.

There is no more rank reset, it's now the grade that resets. Your grade has no effect on the matchmaking so you will keep getting matched with players around your sbmm rating.

I understand what you mean about the matches though. I keep getting 0k or 1k and they are not getting any easier.

  • I would say a more, split between dbd and tales of arise for now though. Maybe I would be playing a lot more if not for that.

I used to play for an hour or 2 here and there but I must be putting in 6-8 hours per day since the day following sbmm going live. I will burn out at some point though.

I have insomnia too, which has been playing up lately so doing 20-30 hours awake each time. This is why my playtime is still quite high even though I am splitting between two games.

  • Freddy, wraith and Doctor are my mains.

Clown, nemesis and myers are my secondary choices.

I have not even tried twins, Pinhead, trickster and a couple more newer ones as I have been trying to p3 the killers I have started levelling already. I don't want to bloat the perk pool anymore for now.

As survivor I main Kate for my female and Steve for my male. Not sure if I will p3 my survivors yet.

  • A lot of us have, as of now, lost out on our grade rewards as the game crashed on reset. I hope you got your bp for being in iri grade.

It no longer determines matchmaking. Now you get a small bp reward every monthly reset depending on how far you got it, from Ash 4 to iri 1. It's basically a new look for the rank system minus the matchmaking and you cannot drop grade, only lose pips.

You earn 250k maximum for both killer and survivor, so 500k combined.

  • It's the opposite for me, survivor side seems to be working but killer side only worked for one day and seemingly stopped after that. I can't get a balanced match no matter how badly and often I lose.

  • The only reason I can think is scratch mirror myers. I like the randomness though so I never play map offerings as killer.

I only use them as survivor if I need to do a rift challenge such as fall from a great height.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 21
