Why is it that I've ranked up, reached a humble rank 3, and instead of getting better all the survivors are the worst??

Actually having AFKers, DCers, Hook-suicides, people who just run actual circles in place the whole match while I'm just tryna play games.

Like, why can't y'all just find someone to derank with if y'all can't stand playing against killers at your own skill level who stomp your boosted asses?

I thought that high-rank games meant survivors who actually cared about playing the game, but it feels like all red-ranks wanna do is try to pick on the killer and then suicide or DC when they can't pull off dumb plays, meanwhile red-rank killers are actually playing the game like normalass people.

I'm out here on a hook, we are ranks 3, 2, 1, 1, and with a rank 1 killer, watching two rank 1's try to flashlight him while the rank 2 runs in circles in the middle of the corn field. The only gen done being the one I finished before my hook.

Idk I'm just disappointed. I reported the circling one, but like... jfc. I kinda wanna report the other two, too.

Mostly because it is pretty difficult to de-pip as a Survivor and most Red Rank Survivors are boosted. That's why there is such a large disparity in the community with Killers. Sometimes as a Killer in Red Ranks you get put up against Survivors who should really be in Green Ranks. Sometimes, you get real Red Rank Survivors that can run you around for the whole match.

  • Oof. Feels bad for Quentin. In all seriousness, I do enjoy Devour Hope on Doc. He can keep it safe really well and it's always fun to see the Survivors start panicking once the first instant down happens lol

Thank you Pulsar! I really hope people come out and watch! It's gonna be a really fun night! Thanks for the support! See you at the Premiere!😎

I have no doubt you will have a ton of people watching! See you there!

If you as Killer can't hear it, it's easier for you to track Survivors making sounds. It's a matter of fairness to players. There's a reason the music volume can't be adjusted in this game.

That makes sense. What about menu theme music? I would love to be able to listen to that awesome Stranger Things Chapter music all day long.

  • Congratulations! I have been super excited since I first saw the original post, I will definitely be there watching the premier and I know a ton of others will too!

I disagree, I think that Cold Dirt/Joey's Mix Tape together is good. I use it to bodyblock windows or pallets.

You can usually do that without them. They only shave off one second together, making the stun 3 seconds, which in my opinion, is what the stun should be in base.

  • @handfulofrain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431735#Comment_1431735

For real? A purple and a green together is only 4 extra seconds? Wow.

Yeah, most of Legion's add-ons are either unusable or just bad.

The only good one's imo, are the FF extending add-ons, the Broken Pin, Defaced Smiley Pin and Iridescent Pin, and the Rulers. Everything else is either broken (Frank's Mixtape or Stab Wound Study) or useless (stun decreased/Killer Instinct Range Extenders)

    Full article on Ruin:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/117488/designer-notes-doctor-gatekeeper-hex-ruin

    Short version:

We took a close look at the perk to identify what makes it so frustrating to play against. Three key issues were identified:

    1. Its punishment of new players or those who can't hit Great Skill Checks. Newer players trying to help veterans with generator repairs tend to make the situation worse rather than better.
    2. The passive nature of the gameplay pressure it provides means that there is a huge amount of potential with very little effort or risk on behalf of The Killer.
    3. Its inconsistency due to the random nature of the appearance interval of skill checks.

Just a quick question, what do you guys think of how Ruin is doing now? I am genuinely curious, and I've switched over to playing almost entirely Survivor, so I hope I'm not biased either way!

  • I present to you, MindBreaker and Cruel Limits. Both arguably worse than Monstrous Shrine.

also if you wanna look at useless add-ons, look at Legion. Frank's Mixtape, Stab Wound Study and all of the add-ons that give you a larger Killer Instinct range are useless and I have never seen anyone run them.

  • @BloodMoneyMerc said:

He has a new addon that allows you to continue chainsawing through a pallet. The downside is hitting a survivor only removes one health state (rather than a typical instadown with the saw). Now I've been messing around with the addon & it is making every chainsaw I do count as a single hit instead of an instadown. It does this even if I'm not chainsawing through a pallet. Is this how the addon was meant to work out, or is something just not working correctly? I thought this was gonna be quite a unique & powerful addon, but if it makes every chainsaw the equivalent of a basic attack then I don't see how this will ever be useful. The downside would be way too severe compared to the upside if it is working as intended.

Yes, it is. I hope they adjust it. It makes him into a worse Demogorgon, imo. Problem is, Demo isn't that strong to begin with.

  • From what I've seen, this nerf really hurts people who were already not the greatest with Billy. So, pretty much like the Nurse nerf. It did nothing to actually stop really good players, just made the Killer incredibly punishing to attempt to learn.

  • @TruffleTurtle said:

Is there any reason why he loses some of his power meter when he does a basic attack. I know it doesn't really affect much but its just annoying for when you want to use your power again after you get a hit.

No, there is not. It is likely a leftover from his rework.

There are a lot of things wrong with Legion right now. Like how you get a DS stun for using your power, or how some of his add-ons are actually not usable.

  • This is an incredibly awful idea for several reasons.

I know they do, but this is easy. Controlling a character, ESPECIALLY an accurate character like Nurse or Huntress is much easier on PC for a reason. Yes, I do know...yes, I play both. I’m not lobbying to have this right away. It’s a very simple mechanic that nearly every console game has. After 4 years, I think we can discuss this as an option.

Sure. I would love to see more options (colorblind settings pls).

  • @IMhereRUN said:

I picked up the game early in it’s life, not since birth, but not far after, so I’ve played for almost its entirety of existence. I started on PC, I now primarily play console (PS4) simply because the majority of my social friends do.

Yes, we all know why the optimal gameplay experience cannot match the gaming experience of PC right now, but one simple thing can make it better, which is a start.

I am lobbying to have more controller configuration options for console players...that’s it.

If you would like me to be more specific, I’m already ahead of you. I want to allow the player to move using the directional pad rather than joystick only. This will be optional, and no one has to use this if they don’t want to.

Why? Isn’t it obvious? Regardless if you’re a seasoned neuro-surgeon with steadiest hands or not...the joystick is just not as accurate as the buttons are.

Need proof? Use a joystick, or mouse to move a cursor perfectly straight up and down quickly. Did your straight line falter? Now attempt moving that same cursor with buttons on a keyboard or, in this case, directional pad.

I am open to debates against this, but at the moment I can fathom no downside from adding this as a feature.

    Can we have this please?

I am sure there isn't a downside, but I do not see a horribly pressing need for this to occur. I am absolutely sure that more customization is something on the Dev Team's radar, but they have more urgent things to attend to.

  • Because Legion is already pretty weak and that would definitely make him weaker. It would also enable Nurse's Calling to detect Mending Survivors again, which if I recall correctly, was a big issue back then.

  • Yeah. My brother was playing Survivor the other day, and I was watching and giving him some tips. He ended up getting put into a game with a Rank 17, 2, 3 and the Killer was a Rank 5. He is Rank 19. The MM hasn't ever been super amazing, but this is pretty upsetting to see.

  • @Peanits said:

As far as mobility goes, it's negligible. Sprinting heats up the chainsaw at a significantly reduced rate, so you can do entire laps around the map no problem. More importantly, even if it overheats a few laps in, it doesn't cancel your chainsaw.

As far as curving and all that goes, your ability to do so is functionally unchanged. You'll only notice a difference if you miss a bunch of them or pull out your chainsaw way too early (something you don't want to do anyway because it means the survivors are going to widen the gap).

So, forgive me if I am wrong, but it sounds like you haven't really nerfed the god-tier Billy players that people complained about, you nerfed the Billy players that weren't very good in the first place.

Their powers just seem kinda similar to me, I was just wondering which was more viable

Generally, Spirit is considered FAR more viable then Wraith, especially without add-ons.

  • Here is my build that helped me go on a really long 4K streak at R1 a couple months ago.

Perks: PGTW, M&A, Sloppy Butcher and Corrupt Intervention.

Reasoning:Corrupt allows me some extra time at the beginning of the match to start my snowballing. Monitor allows me to get closer to Survivors without them knowing, which vastly increases my chances of getting either a normal attack or a Frenzy hit. Sloppy discourages healing, but I have found that Survivors will almost always try to heal once they figure out that I have M&A, it is too unpredictable. PGTW allows me to capitalize off of the easy downs.

Add-Ons: Defaced Smiley Pin and Stolen Sketch Book

Reasoning: The Defaced Smiley Pin allows me to apply Mangled without Sloppy, ensuring maximum time lost from the Survivors attempting to heal. Stolen Sketch Book allows me to hit more people with Frenzy, ensuring even more pressure and time lost.

TLDR; I use PGTW, M&A, Sloppy and Corrupt with the Defaced Smiley Pin and Stolen Sketch Book to maximize the good parts of Legion and help make his win condition less of a win condition more of a steamroll condition.

You can clearly see that this was a bug, and it has been fixed !

Ah good! It made sending GG after the match a lot harder on console, so I am glad this has been fixed :)

  • Here is what I would change.

DS deactivates when another Survivor is hooked.

    DS deactivates during the EGC.

DS deactivates after you have been healed fully.

DS deactivates after spending X amount of time in a locker.

DS no longer has a time limit, it goes until one of the above things activate.

These number are complete out of order I’m a rank 9 killer and on average getting 2 or more top tire survivors none stop. I can’t even learn how to improve because I’m getting my skull kicked in so hard. I like the challenge this game brings but consistently getting the run around is insulting, if your gonna have a ranking system use it please.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

    /s

  • I think it is a little overtuned at the moment. It isn't glaringly OP, but most of the time I see people use it to get a really unsafe unhook off for essentially free. I wish it were based on time and proximity to the hooked Survivor instead of just proximity.

Well if they did function like you said that's pretty depressing ngl

How so? Just bad timing. Adrenaline triggered while you were falling, which caused you to have the Exhausted status effect, which in turn, prevented Balanced Landing from activating causing you to be hit.

  • @Warhorse_Huntress said:

I was playing Nea with Adrenaline and Balanced Landing in a game on the Sanctum of Wrath and getting chased by a Myers in tier 3. I ran up to the top of the temple and jumped off, final gen getting done and triggering Adrenaline at the same time I landed for Balanced and I got the jump stagger causing me to get downed. Now if my memory is correct Adrenaline ignores exhaustion and Balanced triggers after jumping from high areas, so I should've taken off like a rocket but apparently if they trigger simultaneously it doesn't count.

No. This is likely working as intended. Adrenaline simply triggered before Balanced and as such, you did not get a stagger reduction as you were already Exhausted.

  • NOED is not overpowered. NOED isn't fun to use or play against, but it isn't OP. Here is why:

The Killer has to play with 3 perks instead of 4. This is a huge disadvantage.

Survivors can completely disable NOED and be handsomely rewarded for it. Cleansing Dull Totems give 1000 points. DO IT!

Finally, if you think a Killer has NOED, do not play around. Get out as soon as you can. If he gets one of your teammates, do not go back for them. If he only kills one, that is almost 100% a de-pip.

If you choose one person to treat the way he did treat me, then no, irrelevant. Choosing a victim is not about leaving a person unable to play, its about killing a specific person as fast as possible. He targetted me. No other way around that. The amount of games played has no influence on that.

I wouldnt say "seeing feet around a corner" is screwing up, its a tiny mistake, I just happened to not be able to move one way and he was blocking the other way. However, my team didnt exactly screw up, because I am 99.999999% certain that he wouldnt go after them even if they fixed gens, because at least 1 gen was popped early.

Let alone that its HIS behaviour on the matter that is the descripancy here. I mean, even if devs wouldnt consider it hostage taking(I would), he is intentionally depipping someone. Which, last time I was told, actually can be a first offense. Depipping survivor squads, people who purely try to stunlock a killer as long as possible, can be considered an offense, I was told.

The Killer can chose to slug you for as long as he wants. It isn't exactly good sportmanship, nor is it fun, but he is allowed to do that.

You did screw up by putting yourself in an unfavorable position, I get it tho I am a stealth player as well, but you got caught early on. Your team should have been doing gens, they could've gotten out pretty easily and made the Killer de-pip.

No, causing another player to de-pip is not reportable. Whoever told you that is mistaken. You were not taken hostage. Being taken hostage is like what happened to me last year. A Survivor had glitched and refused to leave, and the EGC did not kill them. By not leaving, they intended to force me to DC and de-pip as punishment for killing their team. THAT is taking a game hostage, but who knows, maybe definitions have changed.

Unless you are abusing a glitch or bug to get the Killer permanently stuck, you cannot be banned for stunning a Killer, nor for playing well and forcing them to de-pip. Nor can you be banned for playing well as Killer and forcing Survivor's to de-pip. I've definitely seen games where some Survivors had under 1000 bloodpoints.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1360802#Comment_1360802

Its only efficient because some people didnt go for gens, it absolutely isnt efficient. He could have easily, EASILY gone for the deadhook and apply even more pressure. I mean, would you call a buglary by driving a car into someone's window efficient because the police doesnt respond? Ofcourse not. The only way it ended up being efficient was due to the inability of the police, not the ability of the burgler.

And its not the first time things *like* this happened, it was the first time that it was this bad. And yes, considering I was the only one he constantly slugged, while he had plenty of options to slug someone else, he was targetting me.

Nah, he wasn't. You were his chosen victim for that game. If he did that to you in every game you played with him, then it would be targeting.

He may not be efficient at tunneling yet, but I am sure he will get there with practice. Just like you can make tunneling super problematic with practice.

Anyway, what I am hearing is that you screwed up the first time, then your team screwed up and got you killed. Not anything bannable there.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1358631#Comment_1358631

Efficiently? Really? You consider not downing a healthy, trapped survivor that never has been hooked while slugging someone who is dead on hook efficient? The only reason his "tactic" worked was simply because my teammates were more inefficient than he was. If I had 1 or 2 friends matched up with me, his tactic would literally gain him less than 10k points as a killer. He only gained 18k points from that match, purely because a chainsaw hit counts as 850 points and, like I said, the teammates were potatoes. So he basically tortured 1 survivor, had people do 2 gens(when they could have done all 5), he was about to do the same to someone else too, but then suddenly they grew a brain and he had to play the game "normally".

It is an uncounterable situation. Not a single perk would counter that situation. At the start, sure, I was the one who made the mistake of being seen in a corner where he could bodyblock me. But that mistake shouldnt be punishable as strongly as it did in the game, I am glad that Soul Guard is a perk right now, but tbh, a lot of survivor perks should have had base-game counterparts. If you get unhooked, you have a few invincibility frames now(which I am very happy exists, because that was uncounterable), but those same invincibility frames should exist when someone is picked up from the ground. It would prevent so much toxicity and if there actually is a reason to keep someone slugged(DS, flashlights nearby, or just an extremely toxic survivor duo), then the option to down them again still exists, but requires better timing. Which, honestly, isnt that much to ask.

Yes, I do consider that efficient. He managed to kill off a single Survivor and apply pressure to more Survivors who attempted to save. It isn't exactly a nice, or fun, tactic for anyone, but clearly it got the results he was after. DS/BT/Unbreakable could have bought you some time to get to a decent loop.

It is NOT bannable, nor should it be. He did not break any rules and since it was the first time this happened, he is not specifically targeting you. Like I said earlier, these games happen, they aren't fun, they suck, but you just have to move on.

  • @Rydog said:

I agree that this would be a nice thing to have -- a solo exploration/practice mode, more or less. For a solo killer, they could even just put in motionless bots, that the killer could use to practice stuff on.

And solo survivor could be a thing, too. It would help to develop map knowledge, etc.

Yes, I would love to see this implemented. Like I said though, I understand if it isn't high on the priority list, but it would be nice to have.

Hahahaha. No. Only because you use the three magical letters, a bad Perk does not become good.

It definitely would've been an incentive to leave Ruin up a little longer, especially if you could hit skill checks.

I personally haven't seen very many Ruins. Maybe 4 in the last 30ish games. Most people run PGTW and/or Corrupt.

What do you mean? Are you thinking of the Deathslinger perk Hex Retribution?

I was more referring to the whole, picking yourself up out of the dying state while there is a Hex active. With old Ruin, that could've been really good because you saw Ruin is 80% of games. Now, not too many people use Hex perks, so that affect is basically not gonna happen and you have to rely on your teammates or Unbreakable to proc the perk.

  • It definitely could be OP if Ruin hadn't gotten changed. Think about it, you saw Ruin in what, 80% of matches? That perk would've been monstrous back then, unfortunately, it is super situational now.

It is not bannable but I wouldn't say he played efficiently. Seems like Killer doesn't have much skill to down survivors quickly so he put too much effort to guard one person for one guaranteed kill. Doesn't sound efficient at all.

Well, it is. The game is the most unpredictable and the most potentially dangerous for the Killer when there are 4 Survivors. If one Survivor cannot loop well, or gets caught out of position, it makes sense to take them out of the game ASAP. Even if the other Survivors are god-like, they are far less of a threat as a 3v1 than a 4v1.

  • @Predated said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1358412#Comment_1358412

Which is kinda a problem, because the only reason I didnt DC was because the DC penalty would take longer. I'd personally say if the only option left would be to DC, would be a hostage game. If ######### like that isnt recieving any type of punishment, then its fair to say that the devs are responsible for toxicity in their community.

Why would it receive punishment? He played efficiently and you couldn't counter it. I do not know why he did that, it sucks, but it isn't ban worthy at all.

  • This is not keeping the game hostage. He played in a way that was not fun for you, but it wasn't breaking any rules.

In short, games like these happen. They suck, but nobody is really doing anything wrong. You just have to move on.

I guess today is the day for these hand grenade topics. Ah well, Behaviour took a stand, so I feel like I am free to stand up in support of it.

This is exactly the kind of argument that keeps marginalized people marginalized. "I understand everyone in the LGBT community wants some sorta 'Representation' [BUUUUUUUUUUUUT can it not be here]" is the problem in a nutshell. I know I am paraphrasing you here, but I feel that this is what your position amounts to.

What he seems to be saying is that it is foolish to pander and retcon existing characters. Just make new one's X sexuality, that way it fits into their backstory better.

  • Honestly, I'd say Myers and the Demogorgon are the two most dangerous without weapons.

  • What do you mean swapping into power? At the minimum, I believe it takes 20 seconds for his power to refresh after being revealed. As for actually revealing him, yeah, it can be inconsistent for both sides.

  • Honestly, it isn't a game issue. All games where you are competing against other players have this issue. It is a personal problem. I used to get super into the games and I easily become upset.

So, what I did was force myself to send "GG :)" to every person after the match. No matter if I won, lost or drawed. Everyone got one. It reminds me that there are people on the other end and they probably have the same feelings as me.
