Yes. But if you are new to a Killer, their Rating will be roughly the same of all your other Killers. You dont start at the lowest Rating with a new Killer.
So you get the Survivors you would usually get and it will take a few games until you have an actual Rating on Deathslinger.
Wasn't one of the points of the system to allow people to play new Killers without being stomped? I could've sworn I heard that, maybe it's a Mandela effect.

It's 95% of the time someone just wanting attention.
"I'm LEAVING! I'm GOING AWAY! I'm not coming back! I'm OPENING THE DOOR! One foot is NOW OUT THE DOOR! I'm starting to walk out! I'm LEAVING everyone, i'm going to CLOSE THE DOOR BEHIND ME!"
Currently playing: Dead by Daylight
Maybe, maybe not.
Some people just want to feel like they are doing the right thing, because this game is addictive and can be hard to leave. They want to feel like they aren't being ridiculous.

maybe it takes baseline mmr too much into account now but there is definitely individual killer mmr. There's a very noticeable difference in the survivors I get with demo, plague and blight and the ones I get with trickster, huntress and nurse if I'm playing at peak times. I played the last two killers i'd never played before the other day (twins and ceno) and I'd say it was probably somewhere inbetween although probably closer to the survivors I get with my stronger killers.
I've played enough recently to make it less likely that it's purely coincidence or confirmation bias.
I haven't seen that at all.
Maybe I'll try Twins. I haven't played them since December.

Didn't read the
Its just your overall MMR is used when you play a new killer. After that the score goes up or down independently.
line did you?
I did.
That really isn't what they advertised.
If I play a brand new Killer, I shouldn't be placed with the same people who I faced with a Killer whom I have hundreds of matches under my belt.
Iirc, they said they wanted a system where you could play a new Killer without fearing getting stomped your first 10 games.
-
I can testify against this.
I have NEVER even played Freddy. I didn't even own him before a few days ago, I had zero MMR. My first game I got the exact same 4 stack that I got with Nemesis, who I play extensively and prior to MMR, I had lost only two games with.
If there is individual Killer MMR, it obviously isn't working.

Nice.

right..... um. look, Blight isn't weak killer. he is very capable killer who is in a good position in term of power-level who has relatively deep learning curve. I wish other killers were closer to him. I'm sure you could improve. your comment is disconnected from your original post. Losing is clearly problem for you.
Nobody said playing killer was an easy role. your complaining about inability to easily win, so clearly, it is all about losing. winning does often correlates with fun. Your just not used to playing against strong survivor teams. Strong survivor teams existed in old matchmaking, however because old matchmaking was pretty random, it wasn't very consistent. I am comfortable at playing against these teams because I knew the strength of survivor, so none of these teams really phase me. Eventually you'll get used to facing these teams and hopefully be able to challenge them without it being an auto-lose for you. It is simply part of learning experience of killer.
On another note, I do agree that many of weaker killers are not very fun to play against skillful players, but this is largely balance problem with those killers. It doesn't help that BVHR has had some very anti-fun killer changes... such as Billy rework and freddy changes. Hopefully we get more positive fun killer changes and not these-low level non-sense changes.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
I've lost 15 games in 2021 before SBMM was implemented. I'd like to think I'm decent. The issue is that high level DBD is totally unfun and there comes a point where it's just Spirit who can keep up (since I'm on Console.)
Mathematically, there was no way for me to win. I can literally break down the game for you.
20 seconds to find someone, got the first hit in 10 seconds, downed in another 20 seconds. Total chase was 30 seconds, which is pretty fast considering it was Badham. 10 seconds to hook, then another 10 to chase someone off of a gen. Two gens pop, I start a longer chase. Guy gets unhooked, I finish the chase at around 40 seconds. Hook him and a gen pops from the two that were together. I chase one of them, other one unhooks, last gen pops.

your losing games so your MMR isn't the highest.
Improve your killer play before referencing high-level gameplay. Its not imbalanced at your level of play. Also Its not true that Nurse and Spirit are not only killers played. other killers are played, they're just under-powered and lose more often than they win. In fact I feel like blight is being played more than Spirit now a days. Its sad that spirit has become a rare gem.
Killer matchmaking should have always been like this. the old one way too easy and way too inaccurate. If you never enjoyed playing killer, than that is ok. you can play survivor. Just don't complain about killers or give any feedback on killers on a role you do not play.
Lmao.
Okay.
I believe I had someone from the Forums take a look at one of my Blight games, and they agreed I played perfectly and still lost. It isn't about losing, it's about having fun. Even when you win, you aren't having fun because you just filled up an entire ocean with sweat to get a 3K.

Maybe you can make a comparison between your main killer account and the alt killer account. If you notice no difference, then there might be something wrong with the mmr altogether.
Like I understood it, your mmr should be high for a killer you play a lot, and really low for a killer you never play.
Example: Your blight is 100, but a killer like trapper (just saying one of course) you never touched, should be 0.
So if a brand new account, after 20 games or something, is not different than your main killer account, then there might be a problem with mmr.
Of course you should play a bit less good then normal, so if there are really new players, you can give them a chance.
My mmr is not that high, so I think I would not see a difference.
I hope my post makes a bit more sense, I'm really tired and can't concentrate too good this moment :)
Well, starting fresh would mean that I have no recorded MMR.
Are you saying that on that account I should only play one Killer, then switch to one I've never played and see what I get in terms on matchmaking?

He said 2 kills/2 escapes is nuts. Who wants a horror game where you get a 50% kill rate. Sounds pretty much like he wants 3 to 4 kills every game.
He said a game that is designed to have half of the people ALWAYS escape is nuts, not that having two people escape is nuts.

Because it feels ######### to see 3 people escape and taunt you in the Exit Gates.

I don't know if you can share games on xbox, but maybe you can try out an alt account to try how that is? I don't say that you should stomp survivors, but seeing your other thread about performance, I think you're the right person to investigate how it can/will affect the gameplay (and also maybe get you some more fun matches in the meantime as killer).
And if you want to play survivor, you switch back to your main account.
What would you have me test?

@blankfaced said:
I've been playing more survivor. It's the power role experience I expected killer to be. That first time you heal yourself to full mid-chase right in front of the killers' face or loop them so hard they give up on you, chefkiss.
I still play killer when queues are short and I feel like smashing my face against a wall. But after being held hostage in a match for half an hour, I'm pretty hesitant to play killer until that get's taken care of.
I commend you for playing that many Pinhead matches considering the state he's in!
I wanted to give him a fair shot.
-
@MeatBycicle said:
SBMM has absolutely no benefit to killer, its only a benefit to survivors. The higher your MMR goes as a killer, the sweater teams you will be facing, at after reaching a certain threshold of rating you will be playing against survivors who all know how to run and loop well, know all the strats and outplays to every killer and every map.
As your MMR climbs higher on survivor, you get to sit comfortable knowing that every teammate you get will know how to run and loop the killer, and will be doing generators.
How does MMR positively effect killers? It doesn't.
It must be stated that, whilst playing Survivor, you will end up at a level where there exists only Spirits and Nurse's.
That isn't fun either.
-
@Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:
DbD heard your skill floor was naturally higher.
It sure seems that way.
However, at a certain level, you just can't compete unless you play Nurse or Spirit (which I do not.)
-
@Yankus said:
It's clear that they make more money from survivors so they need to keep them happy.
That is verifiably true.
I don't think BHVR has some huge Survivor bias or something, but I do think that when it comes down to it, there are more Survivors than Killers and you want to keep the majority happy, that's just good business.
It's also probably hard as hell to figure out how to balance higher MMR DBD and they just don't want to do that.
-
@SweetTerror said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2509021#Comment_2509021
Before the SBMM went live, BHVR said that most matches should end with two kills and two escapes. Now that the MMR is live again, they stated that that should be happening more often now, however anyone who plays this game on a regular basis knows that simply is not true.
We all have bad games, it's inevitable, but when it's consistently bad, that's when there is a fundamental problem with the game. Gamers with hundreds of hours or less are consistently being matched against players with thousands of hours. Not only is it not fun, but it's starting to make more and more players, especially new players, turn the game off altogether.
And yet, BHVR continues to ignore feedback.

@GannTM said:
Sorry that you feel this way man. Honestly the devs have made it clear that they don’t know what best for the game and what keeps the game fun so I don’t blame you.
Survivor is much more fun because having 3 competent teammates basically guarantees at least 2 escapes.
The game is so unbalanced when Survivors understand their jobs it isn't even funny.
-
@GuyFawx said:
In those type of games you best just focusing on doing challenges for the bp and not the win
And don't you think that's a problem? Don't you think that having a game that is so fundamentally unbalanced that you would be better off doing asinine challenges instead of trying to win is a problem?
These games are NOT infrequent anymore. It's one of these, then a game against complete babies.

I also mained the hell out of Blight since his release. He really was always this good. Even before the POV changes. Anyone one else claiming that he was terrible dismissed him and didn't properly understand him.
I tried to main him but he really was bad for a bit post-launch.
And then he didn't get fixed for a huge portion of the playerbase until 8 months later

Most of what you are talking about is purely PTB. When a killer is released, it is irrelevant.
Him being low wasn't as much of a detriment as people pretend, him not breaking pallets or walls was a complete and utter non-issue because HE IS BLIGHT and could absolutely be removed without any real impact, and here's a secret that I'm sick of sitting on: He was perfectly playable on console with a custom controller like the Xbox Elite one, because his only major issue was the turn curve was misimplimented.
Yeah, most of those were live on release.
Also, Elite controllers cost $240 new and $160 USED.
I'm not buying a 200 USD controller for ANY game.

Ugh, I was so hated by the community for saying that he was really, really good. And now there's this huge undercurrent of people wanting desperately to not have been wrong that claim he was buffed into his current state. Except he really wasn't, I mained Blight through all of his iterations and he's pretty much always been the same, j-flick notwithstanding.
"He was hot garbage in the PTB because of his collision. He couldn't get through any doorways and bounced off of everything unintentionally, but when you wanted to hit something head-on, he would slide off.
His camera was extremely low and made it difficult to see over any loops.
He couldn't break pallets or walls.
He had a double cooldown.
His dash attack with almost 3 m/s slower.
He had a lower turn rate during his Rush.
His dash attacks didn't continue if the input button was released.
Some of his add-ons were worse and Compound 21 was a must run.
He was basically useless on Console for EIGHT MONTHS."
How do you explain these things?

I cant imagine waiting that long. I was ready to DC after an hour of two survivors left alive hiding in the game map. I was playing huntress with 2 gens near the steps and 1 above the step.
This was the old game map where there were more lockers to hide in and I didnt have whispers...ended up watching YouTube until they got bored and dced.🤣
