MOM didn't have a PTB. They could not test it on one.

Billy going from PTB to live was fine, outside of the animations. It was the hotfixes after live that screwed him again due to "[Wanting] overheat to have more of an effect".

    Legion tho.

    Legion had a PTB.

Fellow gamers, and especially consolers! The Q&A questions are open and I wish to call attention to two of them:

I created one asking for an update about their goal to get all platforms running the game at 60fps minimum from spring 2019. i and others have brought up this goal many many times before, in this thread and on countless other ones. Please upvote it should you feel as strongly about this subject as I do.

@bm33 has created one asking about Fog Whisperers on console, of which I believe there are none. We discussed this subject briefly on this thread, but I also feel this is a worthy endevor to bring up too. As far as possible candidates, I'm looking at you @Pulsar no matter any recent hot waters, but other streamers should be able to apply with their platform irrelevant. Please upvote this as well.

I appreciate the vote of confidence <3

I seem to remember when Mettle of Man was on the PTB, and killer players screamed at the top of their lungs how much unbalance this would bring to the game. We were told what you are telling us now. Calm down, just give your feedback and this likely wouldn't be the final version of the perk that was brought to the game.

That perk was brought to the game with no changes whatsoever to what it was on the PTB.

So forgive us if we feel like screaming at the top of our lung about this.

    Also, EVERYONE screamed about Legion.

So I ordered myself a Ps5, finally. I'll finally be able to play Dbd for the first time without it looking like a ######### slide show on my Ps4.

I do wanna say, though, that I still support my old gen betheren in their battle for proper console optimization as promised by Bhvr. The experience has been awful. Never in all my years of console gaming have I played a game that was so poorly optimized. It's atrocious and the old gen console community deserves better for the money that they paid for this game and for this community that they are a part of (looking at you pc/new gen elitists).

No it is not a matter of "They should upgrade" or "Bhvr can't optimize the game for such old hardware". That's bull. Not even the Xbox one x, which is a year younger than Dbd, is safe from the ######### frames and lag. Hell NOT EVEN THE DAMN NEW GEN CONSOLES RUN AT 120 FPS LIKE THEY ADVERTISE BECAUSE OF HOW POOR THE OPTIMIZATION IS. Seriously ######### off with those arguments.

Anyways...I wish luck to my fellow old gen players🤞 Out of all the people who've gotten sucked into this game, we've gotten the shittiest end of the stick hands down for years. If the devs ever do properly optimize this game for old gen, I'll be there to celebrate with you guys 🤙

    Thank you!

Also, sidenote, the One X came out in 2018, DBD came out in 2016.

    It's actually two years younger.

  • Top Knot is probably gone.

I'd imagine Renjiro's is gonna be nerfed.

Maybe Splintered Hull and the Purple Duration add-on as well? Not sure

    Small buffs are still buffs

The nerfs received to Spirit probably wont impact her as much since the strat is to use short bursts anyway, and the footsteps thing were given a 2nd thought and not even gonna be in this PTB

Deathslinger heaviest hit is the one to his TR, .4 second ADS won't hurt him what so ever if you know how to aim

Those 2 deserved the nerfs, they were boring as hell to play against. Besides, even a few Spirit players on this forum have said that they wanted her to have counterplay, they got their wish.

15 seconds for her blinks to recharge, thats still 3 blinks making hits MUCH easier to obtain, and when ever she gets a down carrying them to the hook will probably give enough time to have all of her blinks recharged again.

To say that this patch was "endless Survivor buffs" when we've received actual good changes and I haven't even got to the hatch yet, or the rest of the killer add on changes.

    Hatch changes are good.

    Deathslinger needed changes, not nerfs.

Spirit needed changes, not nerfs. And these nerfs aren't even going to impact the casual player. They are only going to eviscerate her high-level gameplay.

Trapper buffs are really QoL, they aren't gonna raise him out of bottom tier, unless his add-ons are insane.

No clue why they buffed Nurse tbh.

    Plague changes are good.

  • At least that achievement is possible now.

  • @Icaurs said:

That is my point. I don't have an issue with keys be nerfed, I in fact support it. However, I genuinely see no value in keys anymore, especially with chests. This needed to be considered when implementing the nerf and simply was not.

There's not much of a point to Mori's either. Just a different animation.

This was pretty much the exact change I suggested.

  • They nerfed Keys, which is great. Should've been done a long time ago, but it's still a good change.

Deathslinger did not need nerfs to his 1v1 without compensation. He already wasn't that great.

    Trapper "buffs" are really QoL.

    Plague buffs are good.

Spirit's nerfs are only going to affect good players. I tuink 90% of the community is still going to complain about her.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2525445#Comment_2525445

I mean Legion has a pretty good 1v4 power and is lacking in chase, but I don't see how that's unhealthy. I'm not going to waste time arguing with you though, you seem to have your mind made up.

He can't be buffed because that will make him broken again, but he's been sitting in bottom tier since March of 2019.

  • @FFirebrandd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2525480#Comment_2525480

You can bring Perks to help deal with that. Thana and Stealth perks can go a long way towards making Survivors not want to do that.

Again, he's great against bad to mid-level Survivors.

He sucks against people who know what they are doing. I have no clue how you can argue against that.

He has no map pressure like Oni or Pinhead, no movement ability like Billy or Blight, no chase ability like Nurse or Spirit and no stealth like Wraith.

  • @FFirebrandd said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2525445#Comment_2525445

I disagree. I would argue that he's one of the most healthy Killers we've got who's actually designed for the game we have. He's the only killer in the game that has a strongly 1v4 focused power that doesn't require setup and doesn't delete Survivor mechanics. DBD is a 1v4, so the fact that that's the case is actually pretty nutty to me.

He literally forces Survivors to play in a ultra-efficient manner.

His power forces people to split up, which promotes great gen efficiency. Likewise, his power cannot down.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2525443#Comment_2525443

please explain to me how Trapper and Plague got nerfed. And also how returning 3 Blink Nurse is a nerf.

To be fair, the Trapper buffs are really QoL. They aren't going to move him up the tier list significantly, unless his add-ons are insane.

    Plague buffs are good.

3-blink Nurse is still an Ultra-Rare add-on with a big drawback.

    Hatch changes are good.

But Spirit got hammered with a nerf that isn't going to fix her issues and Deathslinger got his 1v1 annihilated and his 1v4 remains the same. Likewise, a lot of Survivor perks got significantly buffed.

I'd just like Legion to be looked at. He hasn't received any love since his rework 2 years ago and he sucks. He needs to be looked at more than Deathslinger did.

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

If they got the Freddy treatment, I'd quit lol.

Legion doesn't need a rework like Freddy got (neither did Freddy, but that's besides the point). They only need buffs to their current power and maybe something extra on the side like Clown got.

He kinda does need a rework.

He is designed in an extremely unhealthy way.

  • @Crowman said:

I'd honestly rather a rework rather than a buff.

  • @Moxie said:

I don't know what changes they could make to Legion at this point besides a complete overhaul.

Even fixing his add ons leaves the problem of his boring base kit.

    I just want something :(

    He hasn't gotten any love.

  • @Peanits said:

Replenishing toolboxes is something we kept in mind. The benefits to recharging your toolbox would be offset by the time you spent hiding in a locker. Overall, you'd be better off working on the generator (even if you don't have a toolbox anymore).

    What about med-kits?

Ranger kits already last for quite a while, hopping in a locker to get a SECOND med-kit is a huge deal, especially at higher MMR.

  • Yeah, as usual BHVR ignored the actual issues but nerfed him anyway.

  • Jeez those are really big nerfs to Deathslinger.

Like, he was already bad on Console but now he's even worse.

  • @Orion said:

I like to remind myself that it's just a game and I don't need to care about whether or not I'm better than other players - or even the game itself. I still lose my cool occasionally (a certain boss in Sekiro, for instance, made me lose my patience and become very aggressive), but overall I find that I have more patience for these little problems.

I would also advise you not to look at other people's profiles if you're going to compare yourself with them. Just don't bother.

I'm like that in Dark Souls.

You should've seen me on my first playthrough trying to deal with Ornstein and Smough. Also with Pontiff in DS3.

Honestly, if you're 18+ and you feel "humiliated" because of a video game, you really need to work on yourself.

(Not counting chats, of course. Direct communication very different.)

Different people are at different maturity levels. Not everyone is going to be you.

Likewise, the game is BUILT that way. This stuff affects you on a subconscious level and a lot of people can't help that reaction.

It's like repeatedly beating someone over and over at a sport and when they get frustrated and upset (naturally) you say "Well, you really need to work on yourself, you shouldn't have that reaction."

  • @fsdfsdgsgdsgsdg83 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2522458#Comment_2522458

No it isn't a 'strong' word. It's a appropriate word because in real life you would be competing to stay alive against whoever is trying to murder you and doing your best to survive. And PvP can be competitive too.

There's a point/emblem system in place that has a post match screen that shows how much you contributed Vs 3 other survivors and you used to depip(punished) for not putting much effort into the match.......that is literally comp.......how much of a dunce can you be

Competitive, in this case, implies a top-down balance philosophy where the Devs balance for the highest ranked players.

This is not what happens in DBD. The Devs balance for the majority casual playerbase. This is what separates it from games like Siege or Overwatch, which do follow this design philosophy.

Those games are competitive PVP titles. DBD is a casual PVP title.

As a sidenote, insulting people because you disagree with them is not a great way to strengthen your argument.

  • @steponmeadiris said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2522429#Comment_2522429

...How is the game about "humiliating" anyone? It's a competitive game, like many others, but that doesn't mean your goal is to be a jerk to people.

DbD's gameplay is centered on humiliating your adversary. I would argue that every aspect of the gameplay is an act of humiliation, not competition, like you see in other games. The reward-based outcomes combined with asymmetric gameplay makes DbD uniquely painful to emotionally process both your losses AND wins. Let's look at the various aspects of gameplay:

    Killer Humiliates

    1. Frustrates a survivor's ability to contribute to their team (social humiliation)
    2. Frustrates a survivor's ability to level up and earn points (reward-denial humiliation)
    3. Frustrates a survivor's ability to appear competent in front of their survivor peers (mild self-esteem humiliation)

    Survivor Humiliates

    1. Frustrates a killer's ability to appear competitive and threatening in the game environment (social)
    2. Frustrates a killer's ability to level up and earn points (reward-denial humiliation)
    3. Humiliates the killer in post-game chat, something that while survivors aren't immune to, but have group social support resources to easily heal from (severe self-esteem humiliation)

That is an excerpt from a psychologist discussing DBD. There is more to it, but that's what related most to what I was speaking about.

  • @steponmeadiris said:

Just... quit the game. Even better, get a therapist and work on your underlying self-esteem issues. Or maybe do both.

The game is literally built on humiliating your opponent.

I know. I'm just talking about before and after MMR, not just before.

I went on a 75 4K streak with Legion at Rank 1. Being Rank 1 meant pretty much nothing.

  • @SpiritandYuibestgirl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2522063#Comment_2522063

I never have that experience. Even at like super high MMR, rank 1 before MMR, I never felt like a killer wasn't viable, barring Trickster. Yes, you can't afford to make too many mistakes, but again that comes down to practice.

And you're right about killers not being viable at a certain levels of gameplay, but even among the highest MMR or rank players it's not that common to get teams that make killers not viable. The people I see and hear complain about it are never at that level either, which just reinforces my point.

99% of the time it comes down to skill and practice. I wouldn't go as far to call any killer but the top 5 good, but I think all are viable most of the time.

Technically, yes they are fair. They get matched with people at their skill level, and get destroyed because they're so used to stomping noobs.

Rank has nothing to do with MMR.

  • @SpiritandYuibestgirl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/282679/what-is-the-purpose-of-having-21-killers-if-you-can-only-compete-with-3

If you think that only 3 killers are viable that says a lot more about you than it does about the game. Yes, it can get to that point, but that's more rare than a hacker, especially now. If you can't somewhat consistently win with nonmeta killers it's because you need to get better. I'm at top MMR, since I main good killers(for the fun factor, not the power one), and when I switched to Pig, who I should still be high MMR with, I could get a 2k against a 4 man good SWF.

The killers who complain about MMR are only complaining because they're just now realizing that they aren't good. They only won because matchmaking was broken and matched you up with people far below you. When you get actual fair games you have no chance because the old system carried you.

"When you get fair games, you have no chance."

    So they aren't fair then.

Also, most everyone knows that after a certain point, most of the cast really isn't viable. Like, I tried to play Legion the other day and holy ######### that was a mistake. One fast chase and 3 gens popped.

  • @anarchy753 said:

I've played Pig and Plague consistently at high ranks for years. The parroted 'only 3 killers are viable' noise is just that.

And I had a 75 4k streak with Legion at Rank 1 back in late 2019.

Just because you sit at Rank 1 doesn't mean the quality of your opponents is high.

  • I think anything meant to intentionally upset another player or ruin their experience can be classified as toxic.

Also, this may possibly maybe perhaps might be toxic idk tho

I do too. My closest family member actually tried to end her life. It was a real wake up call for me and I am extremely lucky she warned me as others do not get that second chance. I used to make jokes about it, and looking back, I wonder what was wrong with me and how I could have ever found that funny, or had the attitude that people who struggle with those issues are just weak, mentally. It is really immature and I hope nobody actually has to experience that sensation. It does scare me a bit, thinking that people might have actually made that decision based on some apathetic loser that used their anonymity to lash out at someone in an extremely unhealthy way.

    People are strange...

I am sorry that you and your family member have gone through that, but I am glad it turned out okay.

It makes me angry honestly. I was in that state a few years ago and something like that easily could've pushed me into doing something rash. It angers me that people are so insecure and upset that they need to say such heinous things to feel better.

You can tell it is a survivor main because they do not know the word "kill."

Do not let those little psychos get you down. That is all they have, their frustrations. It is like a little 5 year old screaming into a pillow, fam. They just do not know any better. But the pillow just has to take it, because it is a pillow. Sad fate for the pillow, but you are better than that because you are not a pillow. This is the wisdom of the Bodhisattva.

Indeed, it would appear that way. But that's just my take.

The competitive scene plays counter to the way the game is (seemingly) designed to be played, so it makes sense that they're not getting the experience they want compared to the casual majority.

The game shouldn't be balanced around them, but it should be balanced for them.

We need more Killers like Blight. High skill cap so that lower MMR players cannot abuse them, but high MMR players can keep up with good players.

Because I am going to burst your bubble here and make the grand claim that the balance between equally skilled players is not just off set in the top... but includes the vast majority of people.

    I very much disagree.

It's nearly universally agreed that lower-ranks are Killer-sided, mid-ranks are balanced and high ranks are Survivor-sided.

Watch your language please. There is no need to call someone you disagree with "foolish". Forum rules link is in the top right corner.

Yes, in your scenario the game would be perfectly balanced. It wouldn't be fun, but it would be balanced.

And just to prove my argument, I'll say this that will surely make you admit that you are wrong: " Admit your point was pretty awful or double down and look..." JK. You really think that you can prove anything that way?

I, in fact, did not call you foolish. You seem to have applied that label all on your own.

You seem to believe in some supreme macro-level of balance. That works on paper, but it does not work in practice.

  • @tester said:

Please feel free to present your proof that win rate on any map is 15%.

Also, I never claimed that all maps are balanced. I said that the game is balanced. It's right there in the title. This means that on some maps you may win 40% of time, on other maps 60% of time, but your average win/loss will be 50%. So, the discussion about map balance is irrelevant to discussion about game balance.

That is such a terrible point. Allow me to illustrate.

    A map has a 100% Kill Rate

    B map has a 100% escape rate

By your logic, the game is balanced since it averages to 50/50

Honestly, you've got two options here. Admit your point was pretty awful or double down and look foolish.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2518206#Comment_2518206

I am not stating not to play those killers, yet if you do you will if you are good face better survivors due to their strength level.

The whole argument is that each killer will be performing at your and their highest level.

Balance in this game isn't made for decently good or great players, those that claim to roll with the top 10% and claiming it is fine for everyone else... are just not understanding the reality of the balance and now they lose, drop a bit in rating and notice no difference... and still claim it is balanced? It isn't fine for a pretty big margin, because keep in mind at the lowest levels the coin flips.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2518270#Comment_2518270

Yet the way one speaks about how amazing they are how they have months upon months of unbeatable streaks... are now not able to face good survivors and go this is unbelievable unbalanced and in the same breath states well the balance is fine?

This is not reality, you cannot have it both ways... either the balance is not good enough to play killer or it is fine and your complaints about being a killer are not actually true. Especially when they claim it isn't fun for high survivors either as they only face 3 killers, while at the same time the entire roster if they play it faces these same people.

If the survivors are beating you, they would move up and leave your bracket just the same. MMR systems are a two part system, claiming you always face the exact same survivors makes no sense at all, or you are at the higher levels without crossplay which is well known to be even more sweaty.

@Pulsar the argument you are boosted is not holding ground if part of it is based on theoretical reasoning... what you are experiencing is simply the balance of the game... yet it is fine?

Like seriously all of those responding to me claiming the balance of the game is where it should be... while complaining about their killer experience, how exactly is it balanced? I am not a thousands of hours Chad, I don't claim to even be that good and all that higher queue times, facing meta survivors, SWF teams, map offerings and having to play in the 'not nice manner' is as valid in my lower skill bracket as your claims of high one... so... how exactly do you claim it is fine? Do you smurf or something and experience the game at the lowest levels?

It isn't fine. I was being facetious.

However, BHVR is likely to see it as fine. If 90% of players are meh at the game, and balance works for them but 10% are good and balance sucks for them, why would they balance for the minority?

  • @Sluzzy said:

If it was balanced you would have a fair chance at winning as survivor. The one player out of 5 has a substantially higher chance of winning.

    I agree.

I, as a Solo Blendette with a Key, have a much higher chance of winning than my team, who is currently 3v1'ing the Killer.

  • @tester said:

"my MMR is boosted higher because I have lost so few games due to the failures of the old matchmaking system. " - so you are saying that it takes time for SBMM to correct faults in the old matchmaking? That's fair. No one claimed that your matches should be balanced instantly.

Except, it doesn't appear to be doing that.

It's unreasonable to ask someone to lose 30 games in order to get a tolerable experience, but I'm still seeing the exact same teams. Even still, it feels totally random. I get a great team full of people who are actually really good and the next game I get the Claudette who Self-Cares in a corner while I'm running Sloppy.

These are the same teams I see on Killers I do play regularly, like Blight, and they still give me trouble because they are actually good. I even had someone from the Forums take a look at one of my Blight games that I lost because I felt like I had played that as well as a Console Blight could, but I wanted to be sure I wasn't being blinded with bias, and they agreed that I had played almost perfect but I still got 4 hooks and 0 Kills.

But hey, keep denying what it so plainly obvious to anyone who has put time into the game. The better you are, the less balanced the game becomes.

Thank you, thank you thank you. I wish I could save this post to copy/past in the future. I'm glad this forum is not entirely devoid of people versed in logical reasoning.

It's funny that you asked for someone to prove you wrong, then I did and you ignore it.

You also attack people for daring to have a different opinion than you.
