What should I do today? Oh, let's cry about boil over.
"The retired dbd player"
I'm pretty sure I said multiple times in that post that I wasn't quitting. Honesty is important to me and I made sure I accurately reflected my future with the game in said post.
My friends still play and I got them into the game. If they ask, I'll play with them. I can't very well abandon them now, can I?
As for me, I tried a singular Killer match, just to see if anything had changed. Didn't like it and that was it. I'm still done playing DBD on my own. This does make my totem experiment rather difficult, which is why I've handed it off to @Shdw_Void to pull in the Solo Q games, if he wants.
Likewise, are you truly sure that arguing for infinites is a wise idea? I'm not calling you out (unlike what you did to me) but only people who lack skill crutch on infinites.

What's funny is you can't do anything to retaliate, So you straight up have to just DC. Because the devs gave them a legalized way to hostage hold the game. Meanwhile if you bodyblocked them in the corner of that library for basically hostage holding you, you'd get banned. Slugging works in some of the situations but in others it really doesn't.
100% it won't be kill switched or changed any time soon.
Oh, you can slug them.
It just takes an unholy amount of time for them to bleed-out. Which is stupid, but you can totally slug them even if they have Boon: Exponential and No Mither. In my test on RPD, I think it took about 10 minutes for me to bleed-out.
-
As an added note, the community hates it.
I'm currently being held hostage by two Feng's and a Ghostface because I had Boil Over lmao
-
@Emeal said:
You can solve this with slugging. About time we put some pressure on slugging gameplay so BHVR can make it a lil better.
We literally just won using No Mither, Exponential, Boil Over and Flip Flop.

It’s honestly kind of annoying. This is the 2nd nerf COH is getting and from what I hear killers still aren’t happy with the changes. Such a shame, we can never have nice things.
You think CoH was fine?

Killer queue lasts much longer than survivor queue due to a lack of survivors. When there is a lack of survivors, there is no game.
I literally only play this game because my friends force me to. Trust me, I'd love it if Survivor queues were shorter.
The one I timed last night was 13 minutes. Our shortest today was 10 minutes.
All of our Killer queues have been instant.

Old ormond looked so cool! I wish there was like a DBD classic game mode where it's all the old stuff. Ormond looks really bad and is really easy for killer these days so I'm mentally 😴 on it lol. I don't think they'll add them back for real tho.
Ormond is still a great Survivor map.
-
Like don't get me wrong, its a strong perk, but is it any stronger than the likes of We'll make it? Botany knowledge? Green/Purple medkits?
Yes. It's far far far stronger than anything you listed.
-
Neither should have made it to Live.
-
Considering the envelopes took away a lot of people's reason to play Killer (BP) idk if it's a Killer-sided event.
I've gotten the standard 30-35K because of Event Hooks but I've seen Survivors who died at 4 gens up with over 50K BP

And on multiple times they have been shown to be biased towards survivors think about it how is it not cheating to basically be able to know almost everything the killer is going to do?
I don't know how to argue against someone who says, "I'm going to ignore the facts because I feel like they are wrong."

And usually Survivor BP-Gain is more than "meh", while Killers easily get way more.
And how did you get 90k BPs as Survivor? The highest I got was 55k BPs. Or did you include the 20k BPs for the Beta as well?
@Topic:
I did not notice any difference. At least yesterday evening, Survivor Queues were around normal. I guess it can happen that they are longer, because Survivors can get Items out of their Bloodwebs, meaning that some players might play more Survivor to farm some Items.
And, another possible reason might be the Beta-Tab. Players want to test it and players want to get the 200k BPs for testing it.
I picked up an envelope that gave me a 25K BP bonus.
Also, yes, Survivor BP is usually pretty pathetic, which is why some people tried to play Killer for BP. Now? Zero reason to play Killer at all in this update. That, in turn, makes Survivor queue times way worse.
-
The one queue I timed was 13 minutes and 11 seconds long

Wait, what? Could you fill me in on "nothing for killers?" Part?
I haven't played for the last 2 months and was about to reinstall for the event.
Clown nerf, Nemesis nerf, Twins nerf, Pig slight buff, Dead Man Switch meta.
Also, boil over is a nightmare and the BP gains for the Event are super good for Survivor but pretty meh for Killer. I've gotten 90K BP as Survivor iirc

How much is the maximum BP bonus?
I got 25K from an Envelope earlier and I kinda wanna know how it works.

Yeah, this update really isn't enticing me to come back.
BHVR has made a string of really bad patches and very public mistakes. I'm interested to see how the next few months look leading up to Anniversary. Ringu could be DOA at this rate.

I know most people dislike his power but I quit enjoy it. Must be a pretty strange personal taste I have but for me, this Pinhead is fine.

I wish it was more rewarding, though. Or at least less janky. Or definitely less full of wild sensitivity swings. Like, the sensitivity between Pinhead, his portal, and his chains are all different. And the pause between things...
Well, that might make him good so we can't have that.

He does come, but let's be real, the only reason to play Pinhead is for his voicelines.

It's not confirmed but declared by the devs aka they just have accepted it. This might be just semantics but it makes a difference.
The definition of using third party Software outside of the game as an advantage still stands. And especially in an asymmetrical game were only one side can profit from it.
In my eyes they just declared it as okay/legal in their game because they know that they can't do anything about it and took the easy way out.
Only oj the last qna have they finally begun to tackle the problem by starting to bring solo closer to swf.
Edit: Btw same goes for their approach to camping/tunneling/slugging aka the unfun gameplay a killer can use that they declared "tactics" because here also they couldn't do anything against it without having to fear to kill their playerbase. But this is also seemingly under review by them in recent times.
I'm not sure if making the argument that playing with your friends is cheating is a wise one.
Instead of declaring it cheating, maybe we should balance the game but idk that sounds kinda crazy

The simple fact that the lunar event gives a...frankly insulting amount of BP on hook events (and these don't even work right half the time), while survivors get BP thrown at them, to the extent that I'm being outscored by 10k+ on games where I win is...honestly I'm not even sure how to take that except as a deliberate insult.
There really wasn't an objective reason to play Killer except for the better BP gain.
They've pretty much reversed that, so I'm interested to see how queue times look in a few days.
Considering that with the event, we peaked at only 45K players, I imagine it isn't good.

Yes, you can disable crows with a flashlight. The score event is even "Crow Burn".
I've honestly never seen that happen.
Huh. I stand corrected and I will change my argument when it's not 5 AM for me. I do think Wraith's burn is unnecessarily harsh, considering the strength of his power.
Also, don't burn the crow :( that's so mean

I'm not convinced queue times would get prohibitively long if we made the matchmaker a little more strict. Crossplay off queues (at least prior to MMR when lots of people still played on it) used to be pretty reasonable in my region, yet also much more consistently paired notably higher-level players of both roles. The players are out there, queueing at the same time, the matchmaker just seems to usually match them away before they can find each other.
Obviously we don't want Dowsey-tier hour-long queues, but if the system would at least look for much stricter rating matches during the first 5 minutes, I think things could already be much more consistent. And this could even be implemented with a cut-off point, where only players above a certain MMR threshold (starting at high mid to high range) are more strictly queued among their brackets in those first minutes, which might help with queue times overall since less of them will be paired away into lower brackets, more remaining available for "bracket-exclusive" pairing, and since it also won't affect lower bracket queue times much as they can still be matched more liberally even in the first 5 minutes, including with players from the upper brackets that have at that point already been waiting for more than 5.
Obviously I don't know any of this, we would have to see actual numbers on this stuff, and it might be fair to say that since BHVR is not doing it they may have already decided faster queue times are more important... but I for one would be okay with ~5 minute average high MMR queues if it more consistently led to closer matches. Although you as a streamer are probably not quite okay with that.
Hey, I actually have experience with Crossplay off! I can help!
Crossplay off basically doesn't exist on the Series X and PS5. The pools are way way way too small and it took me far too long to find a lobby. I gave up after 30 minutes. I suspect this is because the consoles are difficult to get and the queue is limited to only next-gen systems.
On the previous gen, my Killer queues were anywhere between 5 minutes to over 45. I would get matched with the same 4-ish SWF's pretty consistently, with a game of randoms thrown in between matches. Survivor queues were also pretty long. 10-20 minutes on average.
I now have Crossplay on. My queue's for Killer are instant but extremely inconsistent. My queue's for Survivor are roughly 7-10 minutes long and are also inconsistent, as the data I've been collecting shows. I can, of course, give you a PDF of the spreadsheet my friends and I are keeping, we've got 270 games so far, iirc. It's pretty interesting, if I do say so myself, so if you're interested in seeing it let me know.
In short, the system often goes beyond the 5 minute range in search of matches (at least on the Survivor end) and I suspect if we narrowed the search parameters, we'd be looking at much longer queues. I do believe people would rather play an unbalanced game than no game at all and it's no fun being in queue longer than you are in a match. Of course, this is all speculation, as Scott so succinctly put it, it's meaningless in the end. BHVR will do what BHVR does.
-
While I like the idea of unique interactions between Killer powers and Survivor items, the idea was obviously discontinued.
Lightburn doesn't really hurt Nurse at all (except for baby Nurse's and they don't need another thing to worry about) and it really does hurt Wraith.
So while I don't actively advocate for its removal, I do think it's an outdated mechanic from when the game was more hide-and-seek.
-
Why.
Why make post another us vs them thread with no point except to agitate people who lean on the other side of an issue.
-
If I feel something has issues, I'm going to talk about it.

And how comes that killers can still compete against good survivor teams on this map when it is so "uncounterable"?
Because good Killers run Nurse.
The Game is a fundamentally poorly designed map and for you to come here and call people out whilst not providing any proof of your own is fairly disingenuous.
Either give some proof or stop attacking people.

Global average kill/escape rates are now much nearer 50% than they had been with old matchmaking, there couldn't really be much better of an indication that this new system has overall led to a more balanced state of matches in this game, which was its purpose.
Global averages are meaningless without the data behind them.
There's far too many variables. For all we know, it could be CoH and CoH alone that is pushing the global Kill Rates down.
They could've stopped counting DC's as Kills. We literally don't know.
-
Yeah, it's basically impossible to report people if you are on Console (which is probably the majority of the playerbase) and the whole reporting process is...clunky, to say the least.
-
I'm just not seeing any indication that MMR is better than the old matchmaking system.
My games have stayed roughly the same in terms of fairness (if not less so than they were under the Emblem system) and the rest of the game appears to have suffered for it.
I don't think the system was worth it at all, especially if we are going to continue to make glacially slow balance changes.
-
I might come out of retirement briefly to try it.
Key word is might.

Thank you!
I will have a look and comment in the other Thread, maybe this afternoon (my time).
Just glimpsed about it, a Huntress with 11 Hooks and a 4K on The Game, strong player.
(But overall it looks like MMR is doing nothing. There are solid Killers followed by some who only get 1 Hook..)
Yep, that was pretty much my conclusion. MMR isn't doing much of anything, it would seem. However, in the grand scheme of things, it's still a ludicrously small sample size, which is why the project is ongoing.
Also yeah, that Huntress may or may not have been a streamer. They were very good. Me and my buddy got absolutely wrecked.

Did you open a Thread with them? If yes, link me to it, otherwise it might be too much Off-Topic.
If not, feel free to upload it, I have not seen it yet.
Yeah, I did. The issue is that my stats were originally on paper, so I had to convert them over by hand to a spreadsheet, which was, uh, less than fun.
I just edited it to have the link to the updated PDF at the bottom, so the stats aren't accurate as I have an extra 66 games on the spreadsheet that came AFTER I published the data.
@Pulsar said:
Hey all, I've been collecting stats for quite some time.
We've never gotten stats as to the average number of totems cleansed in a game (and I haven't seen anyone do it) so I thought I'd try it out. So, I've had roughly 200 games worth of stats and I'm gonna try my best to condense them down into a easily legible format because I took notes by hand.
I recorded whether or not I was in a SWF, how large of a SWF, how many totems were cleansed, how many were boon'd at the end of the match, what Killer we played, whether or not they facecamped, what map we got, whether or not the Killer took us there, whether or not the Killer had NOED, the result of the match (2K, 3K with Hatch ect) and any additional notes I had. Forgive me if there are slight discrepancies, I'm basically copying this from paper.
So, without further ado, let's get into it.
In total, I played 95 Solo Q Games. In those 95 games, a total of 289 Dull (or Hex) Totems were cleansed when the last gen popped. By averaging that (289 totems / 95 games) we get an average of 3.05 totems cleansed in the average Solo Q game.
I did keep track of if any Boon Perks were active when the last gen popped, but surprisingly, it was extremely uncommon to see Boons up when the final gen was completed. I would imagine it is because the effect of Boons (CoH) is so strong that the Killer feels the need to cleanse it ASAP. In regards to Solo Q, there were only 7 Boons up when the match ended or when the final gen was completed.
The most popular Killer in my Solo Q matches was Bubba who appeared in 14 out of 95 games. That gives him a 15% appearance rate in my Solo Q matches. Out of those 14 Solo Q Bubba's, only 2 didn't facecamp.
The least popular Killer in my Solo Q matches was a FIVE way tie. I never saw Oni, Plague, Hag or Deathslinger in any of my Solo Q games.
For the Kill Rate in my Solo Q Matches, there were 136 sacrifices in 95 games. 136/95 gives us about 1.43. So, the average Kill Rate for my Solo Q matches is 1.43, which to my knowledge, means that the Killer is getting a 1K on average with a slight skew towards getting a 2K.
Next up we have Duo Q games. I ran Duo, Trio and 4-Man queue's with players significantly better than me. Thanks to @Shdw_Void for the help. Also, one of the other Duo/Trio/4-Man Survivors has a crippling addiction to flashlight saves. We probably would've survived more if he didn't try to burn the Killer's retinas every 5 seconds.
Anyway, 74 Duo Q Games. In those 74 games, a total of 192 Dull (or Hex) Totems were cleansed. By dividing 192 by 74, we get an average of 2.60 totems cleansed in an average Duo Q game. Kind of weird that it went down.
There were only 3 Boons active when the final gen was done or when the match ended.
The most popular Duo Q Killer was still Bubba who appeared 8 times, which gives him about an 11% pick rate. Out of those Bubba's, only 1 didn't facecamp.
The least popular Killer in my Duo Q matches was a TWO way tie between Hag and Twins. Never saw them at all.
For the Kill Rate in my Duo Q matches, there were 138 sacrifices in 74 games. 138/74 is 1.86! That's quite a bit higher than Solo Q! I imagine this is because of the fact that my teammates are better than me and I am getting matched with better Killers. Could also be the fact that I was getting matched with Killers with thousands of hours, but teammates with 15-20 hours.
Next up we have Trio Q Games.
In my 24 games, a total of 77 Dull (or Hex) Totems were cleansed. That gives us about 3.5 totems cleansed in an average Trio Q game. Definitely starting to spike up.
Bubba gets dethroned here because weirdly enough, we saw 3 Hag's. Pretty odd. The least picked Killers were Freddy, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger, Twins, Nemesis and Trickster. This means basically nothing because of the very small sample size.
For the Kill Rate, there were 28 sacrifices in 24 games. That gives us a Kill Rate of 1.29. That's pretty in-line with all the others. This is also such a small sample size that I don't think it matters.
Finally, we have 4-Man games. I did not play many of these. These stats are just for fun.
In my 7 4-Man games, a total of 28 Dull (or Hex) Totems were cleansed. That gives us an average of 4 totems cleansed per match. It would've been higher, but a Nurse took us to Midwich and slugged us until we bleed-out, so that screwed up the averages.
There's too few games to do a Killer Pick Rate thing.
For the Kill Rate though, there were 15 sacrifices in 7 games. Kill Rate is 2.14. If that Nurse didn't exist it would've been around 1.5, just like the rest but that's why I need more data and why this is just for fun.
So that's all my data. If you have any questions or anything you'd like to inquire about in specific (ie, more unincluded stats) feel free to ask. I'm not going to draw any conclusions from this data, I set out to find out how many totems were cleansed on average in a match. In general, there were 586 Dull (or Hex) Totems cleansed and 200 games played. This gives us an average of 2.93 totems cleansed per match.
EDIT: Here's the raw PDF of the spreadsheet that I just made.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/EQSCEQ4R4Y3D/dbd-totem-stats-full-sheet.pdf
