Baring specific killers on specific maps there are NO killer sided maps. There are survivor sided maps and fair maps. The reason people might say a map is killer sided is because most maps are survivor sided and survivor sided maps are almost always zero interaction. What I mean by that is it's just vault the window/drop the pallet and boom, that's it, the killer either vaults behind them or breaks the pallet, there is no other option, thus when said survivor is on a fair map they comp drop their pallet but the killer walks around it and hits them, thus leading them to say it's a "killer sided" map when in reality they are just hard carried by stupid safe pallets that require no thinking at all besides "press SPACE to win."
"Killer sided" maps are not like this, some pallets require a stun to make a safe getaway, some you can go around easily if they are predropped from the wrong side, etc. I could go on but you get the idea. Map design has always been utter trash because they make them with no interaction in mind between survivor/killer, just comp drop that ######### and if you are killer you just kick it.

This is getting ridiculous:
"Make Killers stop doing what the game design tells them to do!"
"So let's give them an alternative but equaly strong strategy."
"No! It has to be a nerf! Preferably one that also hits Killers who don't even do the thing I'm upset about."
They had an equally strong strategy, people still tunneled and camped.
The issue is that making the game a 3v1 is so busted that anything else that even comes close to that is absurdly strong.
A 3v1 shouldn't be as Killer-favored as it is right now.
-
Yeah, it's pretty Killer-sided by all accounts.
Especially if you have half-decent macro.

Never lose your cool in the match.
Play to win and keep a level head, you'll win a lot of the time.

of streamers that tunnel? otz does on ocassion, trutalent as well, dead plays, pretty sure there are more
king wolfe, quiet kills, pro vengeance make their reputations on tunneling and camping
redgaming and potatolegion are the two that actually play for hooks and when they do it is usually a draw or a 3k depending on the survivors skill (which is how every game plays it does depend on the survivors skill which is why i say if the survivor gets tunneled then they need to run otr, ds, windows of opportunity hold w and predrop make some distance)
your build should make up for your weaknesses but some survivors don't see it that way
I was asking for a specific game or VOD.
Just saying, "They need to tunnel to win against these god Survivors" isn't really gonna do it for me.

Let's say I ran a gen regression perk other than Dead Lock those 3 gens still would have popped in under 4 minutes, perhaps if I were running a killer like Blight or Nurse I could get downs quickly enough to apply pressure to each survivor allowing another form of "Generator Regression" however I am playing a killer that is not S tier.
Yes I know it is trapper and he is possibly one of the weakest killers in the game however I believe that it would not have mattered what killer I was playing below the A and S tier ones which the game should not be balanced around in my opinion.
We can't really say.
All we know is that this is literally the worst scenario out of worst scenarios. The weakest Killer with a build that's geared towards fun over viability on a map that likely didn't favor him.

I did say 3’s and 4’s. In the last ten games I’ve had about 2 4-mans, 5 3-mans, and a mix of 2-mans and SoloQ for the final 3. The majority of the time it is a team bigger than two that can communicate. I’d love to get more 2 teams of 2. Divide and conquer.
How could you possibly know that they're 4 mans?

I go against a lot of SWFs of 3 and 4. So I see it every other game. It drives me a little batty when you tried your best against a sweat squad.
....there's no shot you're getting 4-mans in every other game.

No man. Changes should always be made, I just don’t justify changes, especially nerfs, simply because people complain about it being challenging to play against. I believe everything should be driven by standards, I.e a 60% kill rate, the standard set by BHVR, and then super in depth data collected.
Blight for example, comparing his basekit kill rate vs kill rate with alch ring and C33 equipped (if BHVR tracks data to that extent). If the kill rate is jumping to say like, 90% from 55% (made up of course), then a change should absolutely be employed. But if it’s goes from say 55% to 65%, then I’d say a change is not warranted despite a group of people complaining about it.
So then old OoO was fine because it actually lowered escape rates. Flashlights should never have been changed to stop clicking. Locker saves shouldn't have been removed.
I suspect the only reason you hold to that logic is because it's the only way you could possibly justify keeping Blight as he is.

Umm, yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. You don’t make changes because of a minority group wanting a change the majority doesn’t agree with, simply because they are the loudest. Changes should be made off of standards, collected data, and what the majority is calling for.
Idk why we wouldn’t be able to “agree to disagree”… it’s quite simple as you not agreeing with what I believe, and we leave it at that. Lol
That's not what I'm saying at all.
What I thought you were arguing is that because some people will always complain, we shouldn't bother to make ANY changes to anything in the first place.
Example: DH. People will always complain about Exhaustion perks or some other perk, so there's really no point in nerfing DH.

I don't think we can, actually.
If I'm understanding correctly, you've essentially just said that because people will always complain, we shouldn't make any changes.

Five years is a long time. Five years ago was 2018, think about how much you've changed since then, I know I've changed a lot.

Why do you think so?
It's one thing to try to patch up a Killer's power, like Knight. Dull Merchant's power is good at precisely one single thing, locking down small areas.
Unless you literally completely re-design her at a fundamental level, she's always going to be a 3-gen Killer.
-
I don't really find either to be particularly OP at this point in time.
-
Probably just scrap her.
-
I don't really have an issue with it because that's what I "grew up" with on DBD.
Is the new system better? Yeah, probably. Would I care if it went back to how it was in 2018? Not really.

That’s besides the point. It doesn’t matter if it’s busted or not, it’s always going to be “on to the next” mentality. It could be “just strong”, but there will be cries for nerfs.
Okay?
That's literally just DBD. That's how it's always been, doesn't mean we shouldn't make changes.

BNP is not the only problem, the problem is that addon is frequently combined with Prove Thyself, a busted perk. The Ada Wong in the screenshot is equiping that perk for example. That perk is meta right now and is rare to play a match without one or twoequiping that perk at least.
With Prove Thyself two survivors repair at 98% efficiency, which means almost no penalisation for the coop repairing, the 2% efficiency loss is the only thing which prevent the progression bar to appear at regular color instead of red. For clarification if someone doesn't have clear the meaning of the numbers, 2% efficiency loss is 0.02 seconds more which is virtually unnoticeable, a generator is repaired in 45.9 seconds by two survivors with Prove Thyself.
It's still way better if Survivors group up on gens.

Take the addons out of the equation. Take blight out of the equation. The statement is still true. You really think it would stop at alch ring and c33? Lmao
Uh huh.
That doesn't detract from the point though? Those things are still busted on a Killed whose basekit is stronger than every other Killer bar one.

I’m very passionate about how dumb I can be. But it’s been on my mind for a bit and needed to rant. I’m just trying to figure out why killers never get huge QOL changes while survivors seem to get them every few months.
BHVR does something like nerfing gen kicking builds, fair enough pure gen kicking was annoying with some killers. But they don’t buff some of their lesser used chase or defense perks. Making it a Harder nerf than is needed. A simple QOL would be a Killer Perk update to the lesser 50% used perks.
Killers have been asking for a rework for hexes for years now. Considering how easy it is to destroy one or boon one, but they don’t talk about it.
It just feels like they do things for survivors without thinking about the next step a lot of the time. Kinda like the Basekit unbreaking they talked about last year. It sounds good on paper but in practice would’ve ruined the games central core. (I know slugging is an issue but could you effectively down three people and chase the forth and still have enough time to hook one of them before 45 seconds?) I agree slugging needs to be looked at but that was just not going to help. It would just make killers not want to play.
And where is this slugging change?
Oh yeah, in the void because the feedback they were looking for told them it was a bad idea.

Freeing up a perk slot(s) for survivors is literally rebalancing the game. They can do the same and give killers a base-kit regression perk so killers can vary their builds and have more fun.
They'd have to adjust every regression perk and gen speed up perk, along with totem perks and Boons in order to balance the game around no regression. They'd also have to touch loops and EGC.

Love this roadmap btw, where it is clear and evident they never will add a new alternate to an old realm, all the way through 2024 they clearly are gonna use the same tired forumula, new killer, new map, old reword, tired old same realms.
The less new maps, the better.

Well, they’re already rebalancing the game by introducing base-kit mechanics for one side, they should be doing the same for the other.
Basekit BT is way different than rebalancing the game to support a no regression playstyle.
-
You started off talking about QoL for players that may be hard of hearing or have motion sickness and then devolved into a rant about gen speeds.
I do think there should be an FoV slider and probably a limit to how many loud noise notifications can occur. I'd also add proper controller settings.
And for the love of everything holy, get rid of the stupid hook bubbles. Nobody likes them.
-
I don't find them to be particularly strong. Annoying? Yes, absolutely but not strong.
-
I, for one, do not want any new maps.

@Huge_Bush said:

Seeing as how the devs are trying to promote more fun play styles for survivors (base kit BT, upcoming anti-face camp and potentially anti-slug mechanic), so too should killers be able to play with fun builds and not have to rely on regression perks.
Not relying on regression is one thing, not having any is something totally different.
The game would need to be fundamentally rebalanced if they wanted no regression to be viable.

You can't seriously be defending Blights current strength?
There's no excuse for stuff like C33, Alc Ring or some other addons to exist on a Killer as strong as Blight.

I really don't mind BNPs that much, even as a M1 Killer.
That being said, you aren't really running gen regression, so I can see how it'd be an issue for you.

The problem is if it's considered acceptable for someone to give up if they see something they don't like then most games will have at least one person who gives up.
Don't like the killer? Don't like the map? Don't like a player's build? Just give up it's okay. You're not having fun so you shouldn't be expected to have to play.
See the issue?

It's difficult for me to empathise with someone who should know better by now. If they were a new player and still discovering things about the game then I can't blame them for continuing to play since they don't understand everything yet.
But c'mon! This dude was P100. Why is he even still playing if he finds parts of the game so miserable that would rather stop playing altogether, but will still que up for further matches?
Because when DBD works, it's really fun and there's nothing like it.
Unfortunately, BHVR insists on making ONE good Killer a year.
-
I'm probably, deservedly, in the minority.
However, I think I'm at the point in my Killer career where I just empathize with Survivors. My first thought wasn't, "How dare she" it was "That sucks for both of you, I wish BHVR would design Killers that aren't so miserable to play against that people would rather not play DBD."
-
Hmmmm.
Probably Dissolution for underrated.
Whispers for overrated.

The 60% kill rate in top 5% MMR is people who play this game 16 hours a day and does not represent what you should expect if you are a casual player. Don’t let people make you think that you are the problem if you’re not playing up to that standard. Most of us here just want a fair, fun match and not a brutal sweat fest every time we play.
You’re probably, for whatever reason, getting matched against a lot higher level players and more SWF teams. Crappy matchmaking and unfair advantage of SWF is to blame, not you.
They state that they are having games where they aren't even downing people.
That's something they need help with.

It sounds like a combination of mechanical issues on your end plus matchmaking not doing you any favors to ease the pain as you learn. Losses happen to even the best players, but a 30% win rate over multiple days means you should be reviewing how to run common tiles, decision making, patrols, etc. A lot of people here, myself included, would be up for reviewing gameplay and giving tips.
I would also be down to review @Wiccamanplays
-
It's hard to judge basekit Blight when nobody runs basekit Blight.
I'd say he's still probably the 2nd best basekit Killer, but with add-ons, I think he far surpasses Nurse.

Seriously did you put the Oni and not the Blight?
The Huntress and the Trickster can be used without problems, just have a little aim. Maybe with the Huntress you won't be able to snipe from one side of the map to the other with BBQ, but the Huntress is still strong even with the pad
Before they killed him, I was Main Billy. I made people quit every game, sometimes they quit just seeing how much I went around with the chainsaw without ever turning it off. Now the Billy disgusts me, but it's still easily usable
For the Nurse use the add on which allows you to see the distance of the blinks. Also, the Nurse requires a lot of practice to be used efficiently with the pad, but once you get the hang of it, she becomes easy too
The Deathslinger, bro, I use him without problems, and I have a bad aim in all games, yet with the Deathslinger I manage to make some good hits. You just have to get the hang of it
Wesker and Nemesis I don't understand what you mean. I use them without problems, they are among my mains, and I win without too many problems. They are quite difficult killers to use, you can't expect to win all the games right away (but in general, on dbd you have to get used to killers a lot before you can win, and even when you use them well you struggle if you catch efficient people)
Huntress yes, Trickster no. Trickster has been unplayable since release due to his random horizontal recoil.
Deathslinger can't really flick, so that takes away a significant portion of his power.
Wesker can't flick or do many (if any) of his techs. Nemesis also can't flick and the Tentacle is difficult to use on console.

in all fairness wasnt there less tunneling? i remember people complaining about killers not leaving their 3 gens with those perks not tunneling abuse... proximity camping was more rampant in the survivor games i played
That'd be near the end-game and ir was especially prevalent with SM and Knight.
Eruption got complaints because 25 seconds of having zero options wasn't a good mechanic. It COULD have made going after other Survivors more viable, since you know where they are; most people just used it to tunnel since they knew Survivors couldn't do anything for half a minute.
-
I don't think it should have a 10 second Exhaustion timer, nor do I think bringing back the dash would be healthy.
I'd be fine with the other ideas, I've seen like, 2 successful DH's post-patch.

so may i ask respectfully why some streamers with thousands of hours tunnel in their games?
i know there are some that try to play fair by spreading hooks but they usually lose or get a draw and i dont see their macro skills being bad.
if killers mains (with many more hours) have to resort to these tactics then what chance do regular players have against 4 good solos or a swf?
i realize it can be unfun to be chased and tunneled but that is why looping exists...what i find unfun is being slugged for four minutes not being in an interactive chase with the killer (yes i try my best and sometimes look the killer for 2 to 3 gens other times it is a dead zone and i get schooled it is all part of dbd).
Give me an example.
-
Idk.
My Killer games have been fine, I guess. I just had a game on Cowshed as Demo (that I'm currently still getting trash talked about lol) after they brought me there and I got 11 hooks with one gen regression perk.
Survivors games have been a mismatch most of the time. Not getting unhooked, getting hump teched lol, getting bled out etc etc
