Nice, you picked exactly the two exceptions to the whole ordeal because of big team sizes and refill.

Cod and battlefield have teamsizes of 12+ people (hence why no one brings them up in these discussions), so the individual DC doesn't matter, just like in a 10-25 person raid in wow (btw even there, leaving a 5 people dungeon group locks you out of queue for a certain time).

And ow qp? Really? As if anyone gave anything about that mess when playing with randoms, the game is already chaos as is, plus it also has refill.

    Uh boy, more "excellent" comparison.

Fortnite, apex, Pubg and so on are huge free for all's with 100 people playing against each other.

If I am informed correctly you can even intentionally join as solo into duo or team queue and team sizes aren't even matched.

Either you play as a team with premades, where ragequitting can be punished by no longer replaying with them, or with randoms, which aren't really any kind of help since there is no real coordination aka when they leave it doesn't make much of a difference.

There's not exactly a plethora of asym games out there.

Casual multiplayer games do not punish for leaving a casual match often. Comp? Sure. But a QP style match with barebones matchmaking isn't often met with bans for leaving.

DBD is an anomaly and I find it intriguing

Well, that's an example of what I've been talking about

"We don't care, it's OK, they may proceed" while it's def not ok

Pretty sure that's a subjective opinion.

Also, please refrain from putting words in my mouth. I didn't say it was OK. I specifically said that I did not CARE, not that it was okay.

  • I mean, I don't really use BBQ. I find Floods to be vastly superior.

Yep, and that's a problem. And smh it is normalised in the DBD community :')

I don't really care about it, honestly.

There's not really a way to punish it and I'm not interested in pursuing it.

Bots won't replace hook suiciders/griefers tho

And they're not wrong with penalizing, considering how fragile a certain part of community is and how much it messes up other ppl experience.

Griefers and people who hook suicide aren't punished now either.

Do the state state the specific kill rate against SWF or are they just lumped in with Solo Queue? Do the state give details, such as if the SWF were going all out or were they playing a chill game, going for flashlight and sabo saves and not caring about gens? Do we have any of these details because if we don't, you can't say I'm blatantly wrong.

    They are lumped in.

Unless Solo Q has an unbelievably low escape rate that drags down the average to 39%, SWF simply isn't OP.

You'll get your teammate almost instantly replaced in OW QP and you don't have to rely on your teammates in COD/BF, these all are just casual shooters with a huge player flow. You don't have to wait for 2+ minutes to form up lobby, games form and load almost instantly which cannot be told about DBD. And when it comes to DBD, you're fully reliant on your teammates. Once your teammate DCs, you're pretty much damned and thus you're constantly losing 5+ minutes of your time every 3rd game just because someone has thrown a tantrum.

The bot system is looking to fix that, hopefully.

DBD will still be the only casual game I've heard of with a penalty for leaving, which I think is interesting at least.

  • Wraith is the gold standard.

Every add-on can be used effectively and some of them are really creative. You can definitely see some influence on later add-ons.

    Overwatch has backfill.

Imagine if leaving an Overwatch QP game caused your team to never get another teammate simply because your teammate didn’t want to play against a Hanzo. It would be miserable, just like DBD or comp Overwatch is.

And even so, if you spend any time in the Overwatch community you can see just how much people hate the amount of leavers in that game. I wish there were harsher dc penalties in QP because I’m sick of someone leaving every game in QP. And I’m tired of having to backfill every second game.

As for CoD and Battlefield I’ve never really played so I can’t really speak for them, but from what I can tell those games aren’t really as team reliant as DBD so a leaver is not as impactful so the penalty doesn’t need to be that harsh.

The Overwatch community hates everyone lol

There is def some penalty to ow qp and ranked does in apex for sure.

More than anything, a person leaving in dbd is far more detrimental than any of those other games.

I have won quite a few apex games with a rando that left and every once in a while in ow

Where is the competitive mode in DBD.

    Can't say I've seen it.

  • @Sava18 said:

It really doesn't mater in CoD because of the immense potential one individual holds, you leave my lobby and your probably helping me(same for battlefield to an extent). OW both QP and Comp suspend you pretty fast for repeated offences though.

    Pretty sure QP doesn't.

    Apex doesn't. Fornite doesn't.

Non-competitive games almost NEVER ban for leaving a lobby.

The thing is, behaviour like this isn't tolerated in any other video game's community. But when it comes to DBD, there are ppl that are trying to justify ragequitting/griefing even though it's unhealthy for the game and is def NOT ok.

I see people quit out of CoD games, OW QP games and Battlefield games all the time without any sort of punishment.

I don't need to know who is and who isn't. Everyone, who is honest, knows that SWF stands at the top when it comes to balance. They always have and probably always will.

If you want to balance the game around average players survivors, then you should do the same for killers. You can't say "nerf such and such on killer side" because the average player doesn't have a chance against it, but be opposed to nerfs for the strongest things on survivor side because the average killer cant compete against it.

You don't even have to nerf survivors as a whole to nerf SWF. Just restrict some things when 3 or more players queue up together. They more than make up for it with discord. And no, this isn't punishing people for playing with their friends, this is balancing the game to be more fair for everyone.

That's nice and all but the last stats we got say that you're blatantly wrong.

61% average Kill rate, iirc. That includes SWF.

  • Gone into the same void as 60 FPS for Xbox One, PS4 and lower-end PC's.

You've never run into a canker thorn blight ever? I've seen it a decent amount.

    Is that the cooldown one?

I mean, it's still not basekit Blight, but it's a lot closer.

  • I think both are fine.

    Some Exhaustion perks need buffs.

Gen speeds seem pretty okay. I wouldn't mind a cap on the upper limit of stacking perks, but it isn't an enormous issue to me. There's plenty of ways to counter that.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3446597#Comment_3446597

Yet, the same could be said for SWF and how much killers have to sweat against them in order to try and beat them. The only difference is the community thinks its okay to make the game easier for the average survivor player while it's okay for average killers to have to sweat.

And...how exactly do you know who is SWF and who isn't?

If you think the average SWF escapes in 75% of the matches they play, how low do you thinkbthe Solo Q escape rate is to balance that out to the 39% Escape Rate we know?

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3446591#Comment_3446591

Too strong for who? Good survivors in the Upper MMR bracket who know how to play or too strong for the average player? Or are they too strong for everyone? If so, are you saying they can't be beaten or is the work that is required to beat them too much?

The amount of skill required to beat some of those add-ons is too high for the amount of skill required to get maximum value out of them.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3446567#Comment_3446567

Are they too strong for survivors who are good at the game and know how to rush through gens, mind-game and loop properly or are they just too strong for bad survivors?

It seems that the running theme with Dbd it's okay to balance the game around bad survivor players but it's not okay to balance around bad killer players. It's always, survivors need help, killers just need to get good, even though it's shown time and again, when a survivor team knows how to play, they don't need any help at all.

Wraiths lunge wasn't ridiculous, it was fine as long as you played it safe.

    Yes, MDR is too strong.

Yes, C33, Alc Ring, Stacked Speed etc etc are too strong.

Yes, Nurse's chase ability is too strong and her map pressure too little.

Wraith's lunge was a little too much. Especially now.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3446548#Comment_3446548

You must be new around here. Crying for killer nerfs is cyclical. Now it's Blight, next will be Spirit's Add-ons are too strong, then Nurse is still OP and needs yet another nerf. I mean, they even got Wraith nerfed not long after he got buffed. It won't end.

    Blights addons are too strong.

    Spirits addons are too strong.

Nurse is way too good in chase and not good enough at map pressure, tbh.

Wraith's lunge was a little ridiculous. I think he's in a great spot as of now.

  • Precisely.

We don't know how good basekit Blight is because WHY would you run that when he has all these crazy addons?

  • @Luckyfer said:

115ms,very thin hitbox, short of stature with freddy's lounge.

This should be more than enough to require some nerfs to him.

BUUUUT he also has 2 charges, that can help him vault or simply destroy loops.

His playstyle is just closing in the distance with Huntress and using his power or doing the Pyramid Head ability where they hold the power just enough to force you off a loop or close the distance for M1

And I don't think I've seen people praising Pyramid Head as beign a fun killer...

These 2 playstyles are just Artist playstyle, boring holding M1 or get wrekt by the killer,NOT HEALTHY OR ENGAGING AT ALL!

But there's more, unlike Boretist and BoreHead,he also can push you so off a loop into god knows where to freaking get a guarantee down.

    And there's more!

You can't even pre drop pallets because he's just vaulting over and if you're not away enough,he'll hold his power as pyramid does until he gets a hit.

He's a slept in killer,he's Blight power, but the killers nowdays only know how to camp and tunnel so they won't find his tru3 potential, sad but happened before, though I don't know which killer was considered weak but was actually very strong...

His lunge is normal and height is average.

His two charges are different, the first is short and the second is longer. He cannot attack immediately after a vault, use that to your advantage. His vault is also generally not fast enough to get a hit at small loops.

His power is not similar to Huntress at all. It isn't really ranged. His power is similar to PH in that it can be used to zone Survivors. Its hitbox is rather thin, so you can juke it or simply make a read.

Holding W against Wesker isn't incredibly effective. Finding loops His power isn't effective on is better.

If he grabs you, yes, he can zone you.

He only gets a single charge after vaulting a window or pallet.

He's certainly strong, but he's not close to Blight.

  • @Luckyfer said:

I like how many of you came to his defence, knowing fully well how busted and in desperate need of nerfs he is.

It is truly sad you guys take that mistake of a killer's defence.

But it is what it is,it's not only the developers that kill this game slowly, but the community aswell, especially the killer community.

What do you find particularly egregious about him?

Otz considers him one of the bottom killers. See https://youtu.be/LJSjlGcjc78?t=2h33s. I know he rates Sadako lower but that's because the rating isn't based on Condemn playstyle.

    Otz is wrong.

His kit is perfectly suited to the current meta. I'd give him a spot near High B-tier.

    1. I don't play freddy at all, I think I've played him twice maybe. I have knight, billy, slinger, plague, pyramid head, hag, nurse, sadako and maybe a few others at P1, nemesis, pinhead and bubba at p3.
    2. Still managed to play against both tombstone myers and condemn sadako once each, most of my games were against ghostface or pyramid head.
    3. I rarely have connection issues in other games so IDK what to tell you

As for the paranoid schizo stuff at the bottom, y'all really need to lay off the weaponized autism and stop overanalyzing every little thing someone says.

Okay, so this is about what I thought it was. A fairly new player perspective.

Still, it was interesting to read.

  • I think his Infection should pause on unhook until the Survivor performs a conspicuous action or is healed.

That's pretty much the only change I'd make, since I think Infection makes it too easy to tunnel off of hook.

  • @HugTechLover said:

You make the same thread over and over. Truly thinking blight has no counters destroys any credibility. He has tons of counterplay.

c33 and alch ring need changing. His basekit is perfect and should be the example of a fun, interactive killer. Unless you’d prefer the majority of the roster that is m1 killers, that are just plain boring to play against. I don’t know how anybody finds a challenge in looping against basic m1 killers anymore.

I would happily take all your blight games in exchange of all my m1 games. Atleast the game is fun.

I don't think you can say his basekit is balanced. Not yet.

I haven't seen ANYONE run Blight without add-ons.

Notice how the game doesn't have comms built-in, and you use external tool to accomplish that, and you do it for the purpose of gaining an advantage you wouldn't have otherwise. If there was any way for the game to somehow regulate it, you most definitely wouldn't be able to do it.

So really the people who use discord or whatever are the kinds of players who cling tightly to each others nuts, and will predictably coalesce around a survivor on their death hook. Two survivors trying to save their bud are two survivors not doing gens. The sooner I can get a survivor on their death hook the better, and if I can take them out of the game early that's great. But even if I can't kill them outright, one or more of their teammates will definitely throw themselves in front of me in these instances, and it'll take way less energy on my part to start and finish a chase than patrolling gens.

Also, since these kinds of teams are on comms, you get the pleasure of being absolutely certain that someone is complaining that they're being tunneled to their buds and begging for a save. To be honest killing their collective vibe is a legitimate component to winning, swf come in pretty confident/arrogant so it's really important to affect that as much as possible early in the match.

Oh, we're still on about the whole comms are cheating thing in 2023?

pro vengeance is the guiness world record holder for most kills in dbd and i think streak lengths if i remember correctly...and just listing tru3 otz and d3ad is 3 streamers who tunnel and camp...otz less than others.

have only seen hens play niche videos like holding survivors hostage for an hour with knight and how to bully low tier killers like legion...never heard of zaka and knightlight and array will give them a watch...do they never tunnel then?

Zaka and KnightLight are two of the best Competitive DBD players. I think they both tunnel out of habit, not out of necessity in most cases.

Array is a good Blight player. He also doesn't usually tunnel.

  • Wraith is in a WAY better spot than Sadako and is not low-tier.

The reason he is stunned longer is to add counterplay to his Cloak. He moves faster, is almost completely invisible and is nearly silent.

I would not be against allowing him to pick up and instantly de-cloak. However, this isn't a high priority as he is already in a good spot, unlike Sadako, who is almost useless with a certain add-on combination

  • A-tier, easily.

    Map Pressure? Check.

    Map Traversal? Check.

    Chase Power? Check.

    Anti-Loop? Check.

    Secondary Objective? Check.

He's got everything he needs to be a strong Killer. He can pressure anyone anywhere in the map with his Pods. He can TP to any person in the map. His chase ability is INSANE, he shreds pallets insanely quick. His anti-loop is strong. Survivors have to take time orf of gens to use EMP's.

I did look at it all it said was unhooking yourself which the David didn't do or saving someone.

DH activates ONLY when you get off of a hook.

    You could 4%.

    You could use Deliverance.

You could be rescued by another Survivor.

Those are the three options on how to get DH. You do NOT get it by saving people.

I don't disagree about playing the game out, but none of the people rage quitting are doing it because of tunneling, almost every time they either DC almost immediately upon game start or the second they drop for the first time, they dont even wait for a second hook.

I'm not gonna encourage it or say its okay, but I get it a little.

Especially if it's a Dull Merchant. I am, once again, not advocating for DC'ing or going AFK but a lot of them don't hook people and enjoy holding games hostage. I genuinely don't know what else to do in that scenario.

  • It takes a minute and 30 seconds to do a single gen.

  • There's actually no way all 5 gens are done in 2 minutes, sorry.

  • @Frogsplosion said:

Got sick of playing so many miserable games as killer vs constant gen rush or stun/blind/boilsabo spam, tired of feeling like I could never catch up in chase without playing a movement based killer and tired of constantly watching survivors DC every time I almost kill them.

So I decided to sink 35 levels worth of BP into Meg and ended up with purple versions of Sprint Burst, Spine Chill, Hope and Adrenaline, ended up playing about 20 games today.

Overall the last two perks have either been worthless because we never make it to endgame or absolutely gamebreaking because we do.

So many games ended in the first 90 seconds either because someone randomly DC'd or suicided on hook, seriously the behavior on display was an embarrassment.

Almost all of my losses could be attributed to either:

    1. My team being incompetent or self sabotaging.
    2. My own incompetence or self sabotage

There were only a few instances where I generally felt like I was cheated either by the game, the netcode or some other unknown issue, and these were pretty rare. Out of 20 or so games here is the short list of things I found cheap/bothersome

    1. Freddy breaking two pallets in a row, I assume spirit fury is the first but I don't know what caused the second, either way it didn't feel very good to basically do nothing wrong with the resources at my disposal and still die for it.
    2. Instadowns/instakills. Tombstone myers needs to go away, condemn sadako is no better, and I swear I got double hit by ghostface and myers without exposure and I'm not sure how. These just never feel good, at least if it were a hillbilly or even an oni I could respect the amount of skill it takes to pilot properly but the rest just irritate me.
    3. Getting grabbed off a ledge by stealthed sadako when I vaulted before she was even close, netcode issue probably but boy that felt awful.
    4. I kept getting popped after sprint burst, like rapidly, way faster than I can ever manage as a killer, by basic m1 hits and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Besides that the game felt fair 99% of the time, though not always very fun. I've been saying genrush or die is not a very interesting gameplay dynamic and playing survivor just further confirms it.

Survivors really need more to do than just generators, but in order for that to happen games need to take longer and survivors need some form of intervention to stop huge snowballs, but most importantly they need to stop being entitled little bitches who DC or suicide at the first opportunity because THAT is what is ruining most of their games.

I think they should make games worth playing through to the end.

I'm sorry, but when a teammates gets tunneled out at 4-5 gens, that game is unwinnable in 99% of cases and to top it all off, you'll get 11K BP.

the info as killer its nice but not INSANE tho , i like running that perk on some killers with endgame builds about rotating obsessions with perks like Nemesis , etc and go for mori kills at the endgame with no way out

and as survivor you can get the aura reading for free everytime a gen gets completed, once there is a 1 gen left you should play more stealthy and thats it , ez escape for you unless you are just sprinting into the killers face.

(ALSO THE KILLER CANT SEE YOUR AURA WITH RANCOR )

the only thing visible are the bubble notifications when the last gen pops , and the killer at that point can just GUESS who is the obsession and try to find him. (if not ,you get 0 value)

3.I think this perk is unfair to the Obsession, especially those who got bad luck and accidentally got spotted after 5 gens.

Dude ...there is thing called HUD that tells you when the last gens are about to pop , no only that the HUD shows who is the obsession since the start of the match and on top of that you get 4 chances to know if the killer is running rancor by just seeing the killer aura all the suddent when a gen pops since the start of the match as well.

I dont think the perk needs changes...BUT that just my opinion.

"Dude there's this thing called the HUD"

Lmao, not when this post was made.

Overbrine is useless, eruption is not good anymore, but because survs sometimes can end gens before you can down someone even if you down someone very quickly.

Corrupt is excellent? Nah, I don't know about you but I find survivor very quickly and I end chase very quickly, so you know it's a wasted slot in many opinion. Maybe there are some exceptions, like for example I chase a surv in a safe zone during corrupt and I can destroy some pallets.

PR I agree, now must be studied a bit, but in my opinion the limit is just stupid. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it can give some value right now.

About pop I agree, I am so happy that pop can at least be similar to its top form.

Every word I used to refer to Overbrine Eruprion was in the past tense, referring to them before they got rightfully nerfed.

I use Corrupt to herd Survivors towards the unblocked gens. It slows down any potential gen progress, since I'm nearby, and it also starts expending resources in that area, making it unsafe. I'm not necessarily looking to down someone ASAP with Corrupt, I'm looking to inflict the maximum damage possible, like I said.

You are most definitely wrong about PR. 25% is a huge amount of instant regression, having it more than 4x a match would be extremely OP.

  • Gens literally take longer than in 2020.

The issue for a lot of people is that the new meta of gen regression requires you to play good macro and have good gamesense. Most players liked the CoB, Eruption and Overcharge meta where they didn't have to do anything skillful and got value.

  • Slowdowns, right now, will only help you as a Killer if you are good at Killer.

That's not an insult towards you. Things like Overbrine Eruption required very little input from the Killer and sort of worked on their own. Kick gen, get a down eventually, profit.

The new meta of regression and slowdown requires you to be much more active and play way better than the old. PR has high-impact limited activations, so you need to use gamesense and knowledge to use it effectively. Corrupt is excellent, so long as you know how to find Survivors, how to inflict the maximum amount of damage, where to chase and more importantly; where not to chase. PGTW is going to be a solid pick after the PTB, 30% regression is significant.

what specific game do you need for king wolfe 2, pro vengeance, or quiet kills? show me a vid where they don't tunnel and camp and have them explain why they are doing it... you can literally close your eyes and randomly pick a vid on their channels and get one.

trutalent? once again maybe at least half of his vids as well as him explaining why he has to? otz maybe a fourth of his vids?

deadplays more vs high level swf teams but yeah he mentions it.

unless any of the above mentioned arent high level killer mains i guess

I haven't ever heard of any of the first three.

Tru3 isn't really that good anymore, he plays like it's 2019. That's totally fine, it's just 2023 now.

Otz is pretty good, but he also uses a lot of really off-meta stuff a lot of the time.

D3AD is also good, but I've kinda grown to dislike him with all his "Obvious Toxic SWF Destroyed" videos.

You could try Hens, Zaka and KnightLight. Array is really good too.

I see them in a solid 40% of my games I've played just during the blood rush alone. Like it got to the point I just dodge toolboxes even if there is just one.

I'm seeing them in around 60% of my Killer games.

You -can- do something when you're being tunneled though. You can attempt to loop the killer and waste some of their time.

Also why are you in a deadzone? Your basekit BT and Haste should ensure you can reach a loop against the killer. If you use your speed boost to run into a deadzone that's pretty much on you.

Yes, tunneling sucks and being tunneled feels awful if you're not a great looper, but can we please stop acting like tunneling someone means they just drop dead with no input?

Because most Killers have powers that help them tunnel.
