Simply the truth? Let's not kid ourselves, let's be honest, as I will always say: look at all the patches, how much gen speed stuff have they nerfed? Maybe one, how many slowdown perks have they nerfed? Virtually all, and even very heavily.
The "then devs said" part is pure irony, I don't think they really said it and God forbid, I wrote it just for a laugh since I see too much seriousness on this forum.
You can say "Yes but survs have seen nerfs to important perks", well, the killer? Devs destroyed one slowdown after another without destroying anything on the surv side for gen speed. They destroyed DH after 6 years, the nerf to COH is not too much, maybe exaggerated but since people healed in two seconds it's not completely excessive, then what's up... Iron will? Very occasional perk in my opinion, broken since it canceled stridor without canceling itself (and in my opinion two perks that are literally opposite of each other should cancel each other instead of being like Iron will > Stridor). Am I forgetting something?
Now, let's list all the killer perks nerfed in just over a year's time: ruin, pop, eruption, Overcharge, Call of Brine, corrupt, pain resonance and thana (I hope to have listed all of them). There is a slight difference, but a slight one. Oh, and have devs nerfed Prove, Hyperfocus (not necessary, but to bring back the theme of gen speed), bnp and toolboxes? Mh, no, they didn't. So, let's be honest, there is a HUGE difference
There's no way you genuinely think that the game is more Survivor-sided now than in 2018.

I can’t speak for the person you are talking to, but I think I know what he is saying. DBD is fun when there is interaction on both sides, not when the killer is forced to run structures/pallets with no mindgames. How could you expect the killer to enjoy chasing someone they can’t catch? This is also why camping/ 3 genning is a popular strategy: most chases simply aren’t worth taking. Emphasize more mindgames and killers will complain less.
I have a hard time believing that.

Until 2020/2021 the game was balanced, then devs said "Well, let's make survivors rush gens and let's destroy every slowdown". If you look at every patch you will see the difference in nerf between survivors and killers. Survivors' important perks are nerfed after months/years, killers have seen something different nerfed every month even if not necessary (Pain resonance for example)
WHAT IS THIS TAKE?
-
Sorry. If only we knew who was causing this nearly unheard of situaton. There's always next year.
I'm really stretching it this time.

for the killer to leave in this instance you mean eat a dc penalty.
again, you know its not the same.
I mean, depends on the DM.
I've had some that refuse to hook people and will repeatedly drop them after they give up.

It’s funny because I read the other thread asking why BHVR did this change and how killers are supposed to play the game to understand more what they are trying to do and here is what you said :
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/RQKGSFH8C3RR/bd405393-b207-46e7-8185-2ce4e3847ad7.jpeg
« An INFINITE 3–gen until the server closes »
So now, with an average killer how do you do that ? Let’s say Trapper, Wraith or Trickster.
Depends on the team, but yeah, I think I'd be able to do that. Especially if I'm only focused on protecting gens and not hooking people.
Don't misunderstand what I said though, you need a good team with good coordination to beat an average DM who holds a 3-gen with the intention of making the server close. The average team is just not able to do anything about it.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:

survivors can break a 3 gen or put themselves in a situation where they can die. They do not have to remain in the game, they have ways out.
in your scenario the survivors if they're the last two left the killer has no recourse and can't do anything about it.
there is a massive difference and you know it.
"Survivors can throw the game and leave if they don't like it"
"Killers can throw the game and leave they don't like it"
-
It really depends on what value that chase provides.
If the chase is to get someone out of the game, generally, anywhere from 45-60 seconds is acceptable. Getting one person out of the match practically guarantees a 2K.
If it's the first chase, I'd say those times are also acceptable, but only if you are getting resources out of the way.

Oh yes I do understand, I am not asking you to do it (if that is ever possible). But in case you go against a killer who manage to do that successfully, please record this.
When we want to balance the game I think it’s important to have real practice and experience and not only talk about what could be done in theory. For exemple, when Hyperfocus was release I remember Otz was trying to show to his audience how OP this perk was and ended up blowing generators and wasting time more than anything else. This showed that in theory the perk was broken but in practice : even good players could get negative value.
I have the same problem with "3gen from the start", some people say that in theory it is impossible to beat but I have never seen anyone do that in my lobbies that’s why I am asking for record to see if that can be actually be done and if yes if like some people say there is no counter at all.
And yes, I am investigating this because BHVR said they want to fix this strat, almost if that is an exploit.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2kigkdZQO8A
Here you have SupaAlf, trying to lock a 3gens early on with good game sense and securing kills by camping. Is he using exploits ?
Even with DM, it's possible to beat if you have a good enough team.
The issue is that even comp teams aren't gonna wanna waste 45 minutes breaking a 3-gen.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:

no they should come down because using an exploit to hold the game hostage is a bannable offense.
And refusing to participate in normal gameplay whilst holding the game hostage is also bannable.
What's your point?

You're literally not reading what I'm saying and are making your argument into something completely different than what it was. Unreal. You literally claimed that what people say doesn't matter, the devs have decided it's happening and told someone their opinion and voice on it doesn't matter. I'm telling you that isn't true. It doesn't matter what their plan is right now, that has nothing to do with what I said and the fact that you were wrong.
I don't think you actually read what I wrote.
I used the word authority and not influence for a reason.
-
The issue here is that it's a murky area that could maybe be against the rules.
Ergo, I'm not willing to test it and record gameplay, I'm sure you understand.

Yes, we both know, that the "hostage" situation is also caused by both sides, that don´t want to lose. A killer can hold the game just as much as the survivor. Its not one sided.
Maybe i´m alone in this, but if i´d face a Skull Merchant who 3 gens from the beginning, i won´t stay in the match forever and just take the loss by not running away. Its as simple at that. Just pointing fingers at the killer while forgetting about the survivors is wrong.
I remember a streamer who was "held hostage" with her SWF by a Doctor. Match took 50 minutes, they ended up completing all gens and then refused to open the gates in a sort of "pay back" for another 10 minutes. They also reported the killer, when it was just as much their fault as it was the killers. (this was before the killer could open the gate for the EGC)
When the solution to a hostage situation is to literally throw the game and hope the Killer decides to hook you; you have a serious design issue.

Fr these players would have a meltdown seeing old infinites, double pallets, pallet vacuum, the old meta survivor build, it's insane
Inb4:
"No no, there's plenty of infinites and every map has too many pallets that constantly validate me and steal my hits and Survivors have their OP perks!!!!!!!"
Yeahhhhh, we are glad that those things are gone.

No where in their comment did they say bots were OP. They noted the strength of bots, and you made up something to fit your narrative like the typical no lifer poster on this board does.
Tony did.
Likewise, the person who I responded to also mentioned bots being able to "instantly blind you".
Sounds like moth behavior tbh

So killers that don´t tunnel or camp, but try to slow the match down with whats left, now have an ego issue?
Tsulan, you and I both know that's not what I'm talking about.
Playing strategically because you, for example, got a bad map is totally fine. It's even smart. Holding a 3-gen until the server closes (or for an excessive amount of time) simply because you can is not okay nor is it good for the overall health of the game.
-
@Green_Sliche said:
If stalemate is not ok because it wastes survivor's time, then how come it's ok for survivors to play permanent hide-and-seek game on some maps? How this problem will be addressed?
Whataboutism.
However, it's not okay and I hope they address it.
-
How often does it happen to me or how often do I see it happen?
If you mean how often do I get tunneled or camping? Probably about 1 out of 5 or 6 games.
If you mean how often do you see tunneling or camping? Almost every game.
-
The Killer has potential. If they adjust EMP's appropriately, I think he could basically be a more fun version of Hag.
The Pyramid Head changes are extremely unhealthy, I don't expect them to go through.
The Ghostface changes are good.
The other add-on changes are good, if a little underwhelming.

@MrPeanutbutter said:

Decline in player count is a huge issue here. There aren’t enough available players across all skill levels to constantly fill matches at any given time, so the matchmaking system gives up after a minute or two and just throws you in with whoever is next in line, regardless of MMR.
?
We're at about the same position as we were in last year?
-
@woundcowboy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3436670#Comment_3436670
Not the same. The survivors can’t win the match by doing that, whereas the killer can win the match by holding a 3 gen.
The Killer doesn't win by forcing the game server to close. That's, at best, a stalemate.
Do people who DDoS other players win because they force them to quit? Didn't think so.

Are you just not able to read, or just unwilling to? You literally said, and I quote "You and I have zero authority on this. The Devs have said they intend to make it less viable." That's been 100% disproven in the past, people want changes and voice it loudly enough, and the devs have listened and backtracked on what they said. I really hope you're trolling at this point.
"The Devs have said they intend to make it less viable"
As of RIGHT NOW, that is their plan. You can literally read it in this thread.

That isn’t in any way related to the argument I am making here. Obviously baby rage is whatever. My point is that playing to win is not ego-driven or toxic. It’s a pvp game
So, I'll take an example that has happened to me.
Two Survivors glitch into a spot where they aren't able to be hit. The other two die. Using your logic, they are just trying to win, despite the slim odds. They should be allowed to stay there and hold the game until the server closes, because to come down would be throwing the match and intentionally losing.
-
The game has a very very steep learning curve.
So yeah, it's fairly normal.
-
@Slaphappyhobbit said:
Ok....that's exactly my point though? The devs say things, and those things change. This person is claiming that because the devs said it, IT IS HAPPENING. Good lord, reading isn't that difficult.
They've said that they want to make holding 3-gens until the server closes more difficult.
Didn't think that would be a controversial take but I suppose the new generation of Killer players just aren't built the same as the older ones.

This is an asinine argument. The devs have also said, over and over again, that camping and tunneling are legitimate tactics, and when the game first came out repeatedly said that being able to queue with friends was never intended to be in the game, would be insanely imbalanced and they were not going to add it...guess what things the devs have gone back on...go on, take you're time.
You aren't still seriously complaining about being able to play with friends.

It is a tactic to win the game. The killer’s intention isn’t to make sure the survivors have a bad time. They are playing to win.
As has been previously stated by the DEVELOPERS of the game, holding Survivors in a lobby for an hour is not how DBD is supposed to be played.
You and I have zero authority on this. The Devs have said they intend to make it less viable.
-
@Tsulan said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3435906#Comment_3435906
I´m afraid that in a 3 gen both sides are equally culprit of holding the game hostage. Because a survivor who tries to lure the killer away from the gens is just the same as the killer who tries to protect the gens.
You can´t point at the killer and say that he has an ego issue, when survivors have the exact same issue. Both sides want to win.
You can if the Killer sets it up from the beginning of the game.
It shows a clear and calculated effort to hold Survivors in a match. The Survivors are unable to do anything about this.

Genuine question here; a killer has four survivors left and only 1 generator needs to be completed. Are you saying that if this one generator happens to be in the middle of a very tight 3 gen the killer should actively leave this zone at some point? For what reason?
I understand that four survivors and one gen left is a losing position most of the time (I know other factors can be at play, like perks etc). But the game is not over until the survivors have left the trial by whatever means. Saying defending generators is an “ego” issue is just plain wrong IMO.
I was more referring to the Killers who find a 3-gen and hold it from the beginning of the match, refusing to leave it.

This discussion again.
Why should the killer, whose objective it is to prevent the survivors from escaping, be forced to leave the thing that prevents the survivors from escaping, when survivors put themselves in that position to begin with? If there is a 3 gen, and 4 survivors are up, and when i start to chase a survivor they immediately run to the strongest structure in the game, why should i chase them when it is guaranteed i lose at that point?
While it seems like they are doing this, it should be fixed from a game mechanic perspective in some way, not by saying "killer bad" for doing what their role dictates.
See Mandy's reply above mine

Defending your generators now means you have an ego issue? 3 gens are caused by survivors not spreading out how they repair generators.
When you refuse to leave them and hold the match hostage, yeah, it's an ego thing and clearly the Devs agree to some extent.
-
"EXCESSIVELY LONG MATCHES DUE TO 3-GENS"
They are trying to prevent matches where Killers just hold an infinite 3-gen until the server closes or Survivors decide that doing literally anything else would be better than sitting in an hour long game with someone who has an ego issue.
-

Like i said though, you can't KNOW its going to be a hit squad. So you HAVE to bring your best stuff, and play your absolute best, and scummy as possible and tunnel/proxy camp at the right times. Because if you don't do that from the get go, and they turn out to be a hit squad, you lost. This is why they need to be telling us when we are playing against SWF.
After the match, only so people get ego-checked.
Although, it'd be interesting to see how many people accuse BHVR of protecting SWF's and caling it a conspiracy.

I think he has an appropriate level of strength. He's not really that good, it just so happens that the meta we find ourselves in benefits him immensely.

was 6.1 that big of a carrot?
the gen kicking meta was an oversight from the dev team in letting all of them stack
Yes?
CoB, Overcharge, STBFL, PR, DMS, Deadlock, Eruption were all extremely meta and powerful options.
Gens took longer, DH got a big nerf, DS got obliterated, Killers break things faster, recover faster and Survivors got less of a speed boost on hit.
If anything was going to make Killers stop tunneling or camping by giving them powerful tools so that they wouldn't "need" to, it was that patch.
-
I think the perk is fine, I just dislike it's design.
It promotes some really boring gameplay, imo. Turns a loop like a T-L where it's really down to the individual players skill into a death trap.

It happens to me probably one out of every 2-3 or so games. They aren't all "hens' death squad" teams. But it is clearly matching me against duo and trio SWF who are calling out to each other on discord every couple games which gives them around 50+ perks for free just by having discord. Generally, i'll stomp a team, then have 1 good match, then i'll get one of these death teams that beat me, then the cycle repeats, when in reality matchmaking should be giving me the ones that are good matches.
What constitutes a good match?
-
The carrot was 6.1.0 and the CoB, Overcharge and Eruption meta.
Carrot didn't work.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/376303/when-do-killers-get-basekit-anti-gen-rush
The starting point for fairness would be : basekit Deadlock. This should prevent the killer from losing multiple gens in the first chase.
What if someone wants to run the Deadlock perk? It's very simple : you just change the perk to add +30 seconds to the base kit timer.
Furthermore the Deadlock mechanic would need to have "rollback protection" added in so that if two generators are completed at the same time then one rolls back to 99% completion and is blocked.
So many people want the killer to suffer when they tunnel a survivor. The reality is that tunneling becomes necessary vs efficient survivors because the gens get completed too quickly.
That's an awful idea.
