Downing and hooking Survivors is challenging enough without losing them to flashlight saves. There is zero relaxation as Killer, no chilling on a gen while you know your teammate is being chased.
Every chase is frantic race against time where you need to consider where the chased Survivor is running to and what the others are doing. To do all that to get a down and lose it is an incredibly frustrating experience. So yes, the Killer is probably going to be upset and if you want to flashlight save, don’t be surprised if you get their undivided attention.
You played how you wanted to within what is allowable in the game, don’t be upset when it is their turn.
-
Can’t go wrong with Jolt and Sloppy on an M1 Killer. All Killers get great benefit from Deadlock and No Way Out. Corrupt Intervention is great on pretty much everyone except Bubba.

The Devs do play the game though, they've talked about it before. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to show us the most optimal way to play solo. It would also settle a lot of "get good" and "it's a skill issue" arguments.
They play the game for sure. Are any of them good at it? That is an entirely different question.

Remember: Accessibility is for Survivors only. When it comes to Killers, the excuse is 'But the game balance'.
While ignoring that the visual TR, while a good accessibility change, also changes game balance.
This couldn’t be more accurate. Is this intentional from BHVR? Not sure. But it certainly feels that way.

Oh no!
People hard of hearing can now play the game without Spine Chill, how awful for you!
It's an accessibility change and a good one at that.
Your posts are as predictable as mine.

1 in 3 survivor matches for me are a wesker.. Funny think i was going down my usual list of streamers to watch and i went down 5 different twitch streams they were all going against wesker and none of them know each other.. I really wish at this point you could choose 1 killer not to go against so i dont have to go against a wesker ever again but I am afraid if they had it i would never get into a match because of how many play him.. He is not op but it's just super annoying when that is all you get.. I feel like this game has become resident evil by daylight and not dead by daylight.. I would love to face a viraity of killers.. When I play killer i have about 4 mains so survivors dont get bored..
Entitlement here is off the charts. Can Killers choose a perk or amount of SWF they don’t want to go against? I’m not a fan of Adrenaline and would like to go against at most a SWF duo, no 3 or 4 stacks.

Silly rabbit, quality-of-life and accessibility improvements are for survivors!
Forgot the golden rule! Survivors get visual terror radius and HUD changes and Killers have to take an anti-nausea med to have 4 perk slots.
-
@Ayodam said:
Devs said it’s because changing FOV provides a buff to killer’s abilities to kill, which makes sense, whereas the visual terror radius gives no advantage to survivor since it’s information they technically already have. Devs must be careful about adjusting killer gameplay mechanics in a way that inflates killrates because they don’t want them to rise above I guess 65%. They’re between 60 - 63% rn.
I suppose it does in the respect that being able to see and not get motion sick helps. Kind of like how being able to move your character and attack helps.

Will just say a lot of those are not quality of life changes but changes that affect gameplay themselves - things like hooks not permanently breaking for example, these are things that are in the game for balance, not quality of life.
A quality of life change are things like colour blind mode, the visual terror radius etc.
Visual terror radius is a significant buff and I'm somewhat troubled it is not seen as such. Meanwhile FoV slider for Killer is too much.

FOMO not quite at it's worst (at least they come back).

I always bring Lightborn and I almost always get value out of it. Flashlights are huge draws for toxic Survivors, really ruins their "fun" when they can't use them.

I feel like just about every game I play with all survivors still alive and the last gen pops the killer immediately DCs... I hope something gets done about this other than the minor penalities. These are all solo play as well so no toxic swf flashlight gangs.
Having my score impacted and being unable to complete challenges because of this gets old
Most Killers don't want to hang around for the tbags at the gate and other forms of bullying. Perhaps Survivors should be less toxic.

Nah you're quite clearly emotional after your dreaded 'killer nerfs' so I'll let you be. Defending killer nerfs while playing victim and ignoring the survivor nerfs. You're part of the problem. Stop acting like you're the only one affected, thanks.
Nope.

Yea when you start a thread putting survivors against killers and vice versa, its no surprise. You're part of the problem.
Both sides got some very big nerfs, stop acting like survivors didn't get hit with this update and you're the only one who is affected.
Never did. Perhaps you are part of the problem with your disingenuous assertions.

They want their unearned 3rd health state and free healing so taking a hit has minimal consequence.
Honestly, I suspect their dream games would be a Trapper who constantly whiffs and steps into his own traps, while eating blinds from Flashlights and bangs.
-
@MerleDixon said:
Survivor entitlement where? Your comparing a few small killer nerfs to some pretty huge survivor nerfs
Give me a break. Gen regression perks took a beating. Pain Res was my go to, now it can only be used 4 times. Gen kick perks got nerfed massively. If you expected these to be nerfed with DH and CoH being left alone, that is entitlement.
-
Really puts a damper on his mobility which is the most fun thing about him. They should probably accept the overheat mechanic was a mistake and just remove it.
-
Otz is huge fan of Hag, one of his favorite Killers. I think this change is good for both parties.
Going against a Hag without Urban Evasion and/or Flashlights is frustrating as all get out. Now Survivors have a legit way to remove traps at the cost of gen time.
Likewise, Hag doesn’t have to worry about one flashlighter turning her into a slow M1 Killer and she can be played without Franklin’s as a necessity.
-
Standard healing by other Survivors was left alone. This is how healing should be done. Currently Survivors take hits like it’s no big deal and quickly heal up. Taking a hit should be an actual setback, not a mild annoyance.

Just because I use Head On because I'm injured and lockers keep me quieter, or I use a flashlight to save my teammates, doesn't mean I deserve to be slugged for 4 minutes. I'm just utilizing them to the best of my ability, not abusing it whenever chance I get. You just said if you use a flashlight or Head On then survivors should "suffer the consequences", that's really petty if I use it once or twice and I get slugged because the killer is that upset, that's quite childish. That's a "killer being angry that they can't win the game super easy with no perks or items" problem.
You are using things favored by bully squads. The association is strong. Flashlights and Head On are not necessarily toxic on their own but they attract toxicity. I, like you, enjoy using Head On as insurance for hiding in lockers. Honestly, I have never been camped or tunneled after stunning with it. Probably because I was clearly using it defensively and not to antagonize.
Every Killer has likely had multiple bad experiences with toxic Survivors and honestly, 4 mins is not a huge deal. You can go afk against toxic Survivors, come back 20 mins later, and they are STILL trying to antagonize you.

Using Head On and Flashbang, perks given to you by the game, or using a flashlight or a flashbang, items given to you by the game, does not mean you should be bullied mercilessly by the killer JUST because you brought them. Those can be used strategically and does not mean the survivor is trying to personally attack you by using them to survive, that's a person who's playing the killer issue, not the survivor. Don't get so offended just because I'm using a perk or an item.
However, if you are bullying the killer by acting overly confident for no reason and t-bagging then you deserve the consequences. Also, this "bully with friends" you speak of, does not mean "playing with friends and trying everything they can to help their friends not die", that's also a person who's playing the killer problem. Killers can't expect survivors to let them get run over, they're gonna do everything they can to survive, and their teammates as well. Am I supposed to not use any perks or items at all while killers use all of their ultra rare things and op perks? Of course not.
Slugging, camping, and tunneling are also mechanics in the game. The argument goes both ways.
Killers can be mean with slugging and bleeding out. Survivors can be very mean with blinding and stunning. At least the bleed out bar has a timer.

The simple reason is that the moment they do give us a slider is the moment they have to update/patch all future and past viewmodels to correctly display.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/IOMLBP0K8XKO/screenshot-20230321-201901-youtube.jpg
The example above should explain why, but to define it; they would need to further tweak this for the slider, possibly even make a new model.
You can get an FoV increase with Shadowborn and the models are fine. All that is required is adding an options setting.

Play survivor, pay attention to the hud and you will discover that there is a lot wrong with survivors.
Also, its only weak vs good killers, and ok vs bad ones.
I’ve seen Otz and d3ad hit a Dead Harding survivor. Let’s put the idea that it only works against bad Killers to rest.

That's my reason for doing it, certainly.
I don't dodge as survivor--if I have a rotten game, then I'm out quick and can move onto a new game. If I play killer and get a non-interactive genrush squad or one running the Standard SWF Script*, then that's a whole match of not having any fun.
My general rule is that if everyone bamfs in at once, then I'm either with a SWF or I got backfilled into a group I'm wildly mismatched with. Both are cause to dodge.
* Boon goes up in the first twenty seconds, I never see anyone (because everyone's warned out of an area before I get there) except for the designated looper who'll teabag and stand still to bait me into chasing them. Dead Hard on everyone.
In my experience, if you are highly outclassed by a Killer they will quickly put you out of your misery. If you get crushed by a group of Survivors they are going to draw it out and have their fun with you.

@ad19970 said:
I would argue that giving killers a bigger field of view is also a very small buff to them. It can help find survivors more easily, for example.
Meanwhile the visual heartbeat will not buff survivors in any way, at least if implemented properly. That's why I would argue the devs are a bit hesitant with adding a field of view slider.
But I do hope that they add this to killer at some point, it would be very nice. As compensation, they could increase survivors crouch speed slightly.
The visual heartbeat is arguably a buff and the HUD challenges are unquestionably a buff. So yes, it makes sense that being able to play without getting nauseous looking out of a Pringle can would be a buff.
-
@Pulsar said:
Because they're afraid of losing.
That's really what it boils down to. People dislike losing and will do whatever they can to ensure that they get an easier game.
People don’t like being bullied. Losing is one thing. Being constantly antagonized for it is another. I can respect being beaten by a good team, but too often they insist the Killer feels like garbage after.
-
Whenever I see this I have a hard time believing the Survivors were playing nice. If you want to Flashlight, Flashbang, Head On, tbag, and Bully with friends, be prepared for consequences.
-
@Grum said:
Dead Hard isn't a second chance. It's an exhaustion perk that you can easily outplay (unlike virtually every other exhaustion perk).
I keep hearing this. If that is true why are there at least 2 Survivors with it in every game? Something must be wrong with Survivors to use such a weak perk so consistently.
-
I have egg on my face because I’m enjoying her too. She gets compared to Knight but she can shut down a loop while hardly breaking stride. I also like chaining the drones together to stay Undetectable for long periods.
-
I wouldn’t talk to us if I was them.

@Veinslay said:
It's fair to compare DH to Eruption. They hurried up and dumpstered Eruption because of how survivors complained that the incapacitated was miserable to play against. DH has been miserable to play against for six years but the killer quality of life is of little to no concern so it remains overpowered and annoying. Not one person likes the gameplay loop of constantly waiting out DH every chase
Survivors mains are the cash cow. They have to be buying more cosmetics per person on top of having a population much greater than that of Killer mains. Survivors have to be kept happy. Killers just need to be playing.
-
It’s a 3rd health state, plain and simple. I put it on all my bots and I’m pretty decent at countering it. That said it’s still incredibly frustrating to deal with. Really takes away the satisfaction of a down. If you mess it up they get a nice speed boost, probably to a strong tile and the rest are still on gens.
A single Dead Hard can win the game. Multiply that by the 3 or 4 Survivors using it and you are walking a tight rope as Killer.

She will still be oppressive in a 3 gen, just different execution.
You put down 1 or 2 drones. Replace when they're hacked. The claw traps need to w key away, otherwise they render nearby drones unhackable (yeah, I bet someone at BHVR didn't thonk that one through). The haste effect makes patrolling the 3 gen and hit'n'running even easier. I'd say sloppy becomes meta on her now.
I like using Skully to find people to chase. This incentivizes that. She is the bane of immersed Survivors. These changes will result in a constant sense of being watched and if you will be the one she comes after.
-
Sounds like you need Corrupt Intervention. Not the best on Bubba though because it deactivates as soon as you get a down. Other Killers can get benefit before it is removed, like Plague can infect, Ghostie and Mikey can stalk, Trapper can trap, Legion can deep wound etc.
Deadlock is better on Bubba IMO. Once a gen is locked down Survivors are sure to scatter.
-
This has to be satirical. Wesker, Slinger, and Legion are easily some of the best chase music. Doctor and Skully are some of the worst.
