Who is saying that they didn't already have all the gens done? You want them to leave the guy who carried the game on the hook as they all leave?
To OP: it's difficult but you can definitely get an unhook in between shocks. Doctor is definitely an effective face camper but at least he is less lethal than Bubba, Trickster, etc., when it comes to it. You usually need another person with you to unhook successfully if you're not that good at timing things well/are on console (I can't do CRAP against a face camping Doctor on switch due to console lag/controller stuff; however, on pc, I can handle it much better). Congrats on unhooking anyways- it's definitely difficult LOL
If all gens are done; the Killer has nowhere else to be. :)
I know you did not say otherwise, I'm just pointing it out.

If killers being able to deny unhooks completely was an intended mechanic, previous changes such as killers no longer being able to body block the unhook prompt and Trapper no longer being able to trap underneath the hook wouldn’t have been made.
The game is clearly designed so that survivors are able to at least try to unhook each other. There are multiple perks designed solely around unhooking, for example - such as Make Your Choice and Devour Hope. Making an unhook risky or a trade is one thing, but denying it completely is obviously not an intended part of the game.
Depends on the Killer. A few can deny unhooks if they are close enough. Hook BLOCKING was not intended, that does not mean hook denials (via powers or smart use of said powers) is not intended.
This is still not BMing, and no power should be balanced around what one side views as 'BMing', or Killers would not have powers.

@GoshJosh said:
Regardless of what others have said above, you can’t deny Doctor is perhaps the only killer without a reasonable cool down for his special attack. Imagine if Spirit was able to phase as often as he is able to spam Shock Therapy.
You can't compare two separate Killers and expect equal balancing mechanics.
I mean, imagine if Nurse could down people by running into them, like Billy. Or Plague could puke through walls, since Nurse's power can go through walls.
They are different powers with different timings. Comparing them makes no sense.
-
Why? You don't deserve the unhook if the Killer is right there.
While he was facecamping, you should have been doing gens.
-
No. It allows me to remove medkits and now prevent BS hatch escapes by draining keys. Plus, it makes Survivors scramble for their items.

I did not say any of this. But nice strawman.
I just said that it is entitled to waste someone elses time because you think that only a 4K matters. When I play Killer, I could not care less if the last Survivor gets a lucky Hatch escape.
You're saying it's entitled of the Killer to waste people's time, because he should be happy with the 3K.
That is all you said. You can't attribute WHY someone did it to your argument, be it 'he thinks only a 4K matter' or 'He wants to be a troll'.
Your argument is that the Killer is being entitled if he does not let the 4th Survivor go, because another Survivor has to wait to bleed out.. I did not strawman that. You are saying the Killer is being selfish going for a 4K, because of HOW he went about it.
Again; that's peak Survivor entitlement. You're saying both 'wasting a Survivor's time' and 'Going for a 4K' are things the Killer should not do, because they affect a Survivor negatively.
No strawman there. Just pure entitlement that a Killer has to respect a SURVIVOR'S time and a SURVIVOR'S escape, because they say so.

Also pretty entitled to have the audacity to waste at least one persons time because someone thinks a 3K with Hatch escape is not already quite a clear win.
No, it's part of the game. That's like going into an FPS and saying 'It's really entitled you want to score that 50th point. You already won at 49 points; just let the clock run out.'
The sheer entitlement of Survivors 'You got 3 kills; going for 4 is entitled! 🤪' Rofl. So many BS rules and expectations Survivor mains heap on Killers. Don't camp. Don't slug. Don't tunnel. Be happy with a 3K. Always let the 4th Survivor go.
This is the only game I've ever played where one side has literally invented an entire playbook they expect their opponents to follow, and then demand the devs alter the game to enforce it.

you got your 3 kills already you won too, it's a match you're gonna forget in 2 minutes and doesn't even happen commonly
So what? There's 4 Survivors to kill. Saying 'You got your 3 kills!' means absolutely nothing.
Worse; it's entitlement. You're saying the Killer is being selfish going for a 4K when there's 4 people to kill, as if one deserves to get away.

I was just pointing out a way to counter tunnelling. I'm a killer main myself and will tunnel if I have 2 gens/4 survivors remaining. Doing survivor challenges show how bad and frustrating it can be though having game after game of tunnelling, especially on 4 or 5 gens still left to do.
Not everyone runs borrowed so get off your pedestal and realise everyone's opinion will not be the same as yours.
I see it as a survivor tunnelling a gen when it's almost completed too so both sides tunnel.
But tunneling does not need some sort of built-in counter. That's the flaw in all these ideas; they are working from a flawed premise, which means the suggestions will ALSO be flawed.
Tunneling Survivors is the same as Survivors tunneling a specific gen; it's just each side playing as optimally as possible.
-
@Firellius said:
Because there's a flipside issue where the killer just downs survivor #3 and then hunts down survivor #4, effectively removing the hatch from the game. D/C is the only thing survivors have to fight back against this, and it's penalised anyway.
It's not called 'fighting back' since the Killer has every right to try for a 4K, and DCing is against the rules. So it's called 'being a child' since someone DC'd to prevent the opponent from getting the win they are trying for.
-
@Purgatorian said:
I think the unhooked survivor should get a sprint burst for either 10 seconds or until they stop running, whichever occurs sooner. The killer will either have to choose to play catch up, which will be a considerable waste of time, or target someone else.
This will have to be deactivated though once the final gen is done.
No.
Why should the Survivor get free Sprint Burst on top of possibly having Borrowed Time? On top of that, the Killer is allowed to focus someone out of the game; it's called 'playing smart'.
Do you see an 80% done gen and ignore it to do a 0% done gen? No? Then why does the Killer have to ignore the wounded Survivor who goes down in 1 hit & will die on the hook? Why does he have to go after the healthy Survivor who needs 2 hits in an extended chase, plus 1 or 2 more hookings to die?
Why is the Killer expected to play sub-optimally & be forced to spread out hooks and hits, while Survivors can genrush?
And no 'Because the Killer is knocking someone out of the game' is not an acceptable answer, because THAT IS THE POINT OF THE KILLER.

@M4dBoOmr said:
how can a killer act toxic in a trial apart from doing it in after-game chat?
99% of what Survivors & Killers call 'toxic' is just the person assuming their opponent was being mean, because they feel bad.
Tunneling, slugging, camping, clickyclicky, twerking, etc ARE NOT TOXIC; people just say 'This got me angry, so the player must have done it to get me angry'.
The only truly toxic things are using cheats, exploits, or bodyblocking someone to: Hold the game hostage, give them away to the killer, force them to take a hit (and even this one could be accidental if 2 people are being chased)

I largely refuse to acknowledge you, because you're aggression and absolute venom towards anyone who dares say anything about the game that doesn't = KILLERS PERFECT. SURVIVOR BAD, is off the charts unhealthy.
If you saw my posting, you would see I have LOADS to say about survivors, SWF's, and the frustrations of playing Killer but you're so entrenched in your animousity that you're incapable of having a bloody discussion and stating your opinion without a brimming ego and an air of superiority.
My point was there is a cause and effect thing going on. I'm no fan of disconnecting, but I have no control over others. I do NOT know these people who are disconnecting. Solo survivors, contrary to what you believe, are NOT a Hive Mind. I was simply saying, for those of us who do NOT disconnect and try to play anyways throughout whatever may come, there is a CAUSE and EFFECT dynamic occurring that disrupts normal game play.
If you do not believe there are Killers out there, with names like "BringMeYourSalt" or "Facecamper" that do this stuff intentionally, you have either never played Solo survivor, or you're simply in denial ecause anything outside of your world view is just impossibly wrong.
Anyways, I refuse to ever reply to you again unless you can learn to Forum like a grown up. It's seriously ridiculous. Different opinions are not an attack on your character. Shriek into an abyss.
JFC these forums are something else.
I don't say 'Killers perfect, Survivors bad'. I point out the stupidity of Survivors whining they get eliminated...in a game where the goal of the Killer is to eliminate you.
Survivors complaining about the Killer's stated goal being 'toxic' because 'I don't get to play' are the dumbest people on this forum. They are whining that the gameplay loop is not enjoyable when they lose, and expect the devs to change it. They expect the Killers to follow made up bullshit rules and 'fair play' garbage while they genrush, clicky-clicky, twerk, and use a 4-man SWF with 4 meta perks, then tell Killers to 'suck it up'.
I attack THAT hypocrisy, and I attack people who claim it's the Killer's fault when they decide to act toxic. I ALSO attack Killers who claim it's the Survivor's fault when they act toxic. Because, and I HAVE said this; your actions are your own fault.
I have ALSO said Survivors should get BP for being camped, and Killers need more perks or mechanics to encourage NOT camping. Like a bonus BP multiplier if they do actions within <x> seconds of hooking someone; this encourages them to leave the hook for more BP.
But as long as Survivors keep whining and sniveling about 'my fun' and 'I don't get to play' while trying their very best to PUNISH Killers for using tactics; I will be here to point out how stupid that is. But I have made suggestions to fix it, only to have salty Survivor mains insult me for being a Killer main, then claim they should steal Killer BP when they camp.
Those people don't want balance; they want vindictive punishments and a complete lock on whatever THEY don't approve of. They want to remove camping, tunneling, and slugging, while AGAIN, telling Killers to 'cope' and 'git gud' when Killers point out they can't 12 hook in a 5 minute match.
And, as I have ALSO said before; neither side should get to control how the other side wins, because both sides will be biased in their opinions.
So take your 'You only attack Survivors' bullshit and shovel it somewhere else. I blast both sides. It just happens that Survivors whine a whole lot more on these forums.

Most killers don't tunnel cause of gen pressure. Most killers tunnel because they have no understanding of the game's true killer strategies and because rank doesn't matter. Most campers/tunnelers are in brown or red ranks. Brown because they're new and red because they want to stay red and easiest way is to do least amount of work possible. Point of the game is NOT to kill everyone or do all gens as fast as possible but to get the most points possible from all aspects of the game. Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given. Then they can camp and tunnel to their hearts content.
'Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given'
Ah yes, and here we see another Survivor main acting like facts don't exist, and demanding players be punished because their feelings were hurt. Here's two hard facts for you:
- They are legit strategies
- BHVR has said they are legit strategies
Sorry. You're subjective feelings over camping and tunneling don't change objective facts.

@CluelessWanderer said:
One thing no one ever brings up about camping and tunneling from early game is the damaging effect it has on Solo Q, which I'm beginning to gather is literally the last thing on the developers minds.
I only have one friend that I got into playing this game, so I usually play Solo, and the issue is that these days, especially in higher ranks, any Solo Q survivor that gets camped from first down, or purposely tunneled simply disconnects or hook suicides. The disconnect penalty doesn't serve as much of a deterrent, as most people would rather take it then entertain toxicity for a hot minute. They'd rather just do something else.
So in my games, the moment the first person gets camped, boom D/C. Then it's 3 vs 1. Killers who hard-camp and tunnel from the beginning of the game know very well it's a game ruining playstyle, and are doing it on purpose, because then you get the NEXT down and they'll camp that person too. Then THAt person hook suicides, if it's tunneling off the hook, D/C's. Which means people like me are basically screwed, will automatically depip, will earn no BPs for our time, and it's basically a wasted 20 mins. If you get this 2-3 times in a row, you can wasted an hour of your time being basically powerless, not really playing, all because the ego and poor sportsmanship of some basement dwelling teenager from Nebraska is more important than BHVR thinking about new ways to discourage it.
I tried to get my partner into this game, and this is what a typical match looks like when the Killer camps from the get-go in Solo Q
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/79QA0VF6EXHC/camper.png
So my partner depips, stood no chance to play normally. The Killer somehow gains 15k bloodpoints.
From a business perspective, I have no idea how this is deemed acceptable game play for a large portion of the playerbase who are customers. I can't help but ascertain these particular Killers are doing this to purposely grief the game for others. They know why people are disconnecting. Yet continuously do it anyways. I don't think this promotes game health at ALL.
Did you just blame the Killer for someone DCing? Because it's up to the person who pulled the plug to do that.
This bullshit of pinning the blame on the Killer to 'play fair' because Survivors are entitled is getting old. It's not the Killer's fault if someone DCs. It's not the Survivor's fault if the Killer DCs. (Exceptions being using exploits or cheats on either side to grief, of course)
Not everyone camping is doing it to be mean, but people on this forum always assume it's the opponent's fault when their feelings get hurt. Then they place the blame for any REAL toxic actions (like DCing) on their opponent for IMAGINED slights (camping, tunneling, slugging, flashlight clicking, twerking).
Camping is allowed. Tunneling is allowed. The Killer's goal is to kill you. If Survivors can bang out gens in under 6 minutes, why can't the Killer camp kills to slow everyone down?
Oh, right; because 'my fun' and 'It's toxic' and the made-up Survivor rules. 🙄

so your saying it is gotta item based to counter a killer if someone doesn't bring that item that player gonna be suck ? what a really good gameplay it is huh incredible idea from a killer main
and keep in mind that niether bubba nor legion's counter is not items
''The Killers with built-in counters are trash-tier'' nurse has a counter play blight has counter play and they are powerfull
a killer's being strong doesn't mean they should be unstoppable both survivor and killer should win a game without help that's the gameplay wh plays better wins that's it this just means you are salty not killers are joke you can't win every game
and killers always want an unstoppable power if killer is gonna be unstoppable there is no point of playing the game and yet there are only 2 unstoppable luck based thing in this game first is key the latter is spirit
Wraith's buff is wrong cuz he is fast undetectable you can't get distance on him so his having a ######### counter is wrong he was weak still not the best but unhealty for the game he is litterally not getting punished for his mistakes nurse misses a blink fatigue happens survivor got the secons cahnce blight misses the shot gotta have to wait for his power back until then he is a m1 killer wraith missed a hit no problem cloack again and use another 9231983129 km lunge wraith is a wrongly buffed killer
Nurse and Bubba don't have any built-in counterplay other than awareness. You're entire post is false, but congrats on trying to sound like you know what you're talking about. You failed, though. Don't feel bad; pretending to know how to balance DbD is a common trait amongst Survivor mains.
Ghostface has counterplay; you look at him to cancel his power. You can't cancel or counter Bubba or Nurse's power. Well, that's not entirely true, I think you can cancel a nurse charging her blink with a flashlight.
But continue to pretend you know what you're talking about. I mean, you clearly don't, but that never stops Survivor mains from thinking they know everything and control how the game should be balanced.
Wraith is fine; you have no clue what you're talking about. Maybe learn what 'counterplay' means before trying to insist on balance changes. Dodging and awareness aren't counterplay; they're common sense that applies to all Killers.

nobody should have to bring an item to counter a killer and a good wraith will be able to avoid flashlight burnes flashbang are so powerfull against him but same story that's not right everboyd doesn't need to use any kind of flashes as a survivor you don't know which killer you are up against so you build something can counter in general wraith is out of general he can counter sprint burst which is BS and so easy to play compare with nurse no game mechanic work on her but no advantage(speed for example) of other killer she has and missing a blink will cause to fatigue wraith has those adventages yet punishment is very few due to his speed
'No one should have to bring an item to counter a Killer'.
Uhh...what? So, what? You think you should have a button to lightburn Wraith out of his cloak? A mechanic to turn off Bubba's chainsaw? Maybe a button to trip Legion while he runs around?
The Killers with built-in counters are trash-tier. 'A Survivor thought about me last Tuesday and I lost my stealth' Ghostface, for example.
The Killer is supposed to be strong. An unstoppable force. Survivors should 100% need help (via items) to shut down their powers. Anything else takes away the Killers threat and makes them a joke.
...Which makes sense; Survivors would want every Killer power to have an easy-off-button so they can win more.
-
Your game says you hit them, but the server says they dropped the pallet first, so the hit is undone.
It's kind of a bug at the moment, and you should not see the hit if the server says the pallet dropped first, so the devs are working on fixing that.

And there we go again, typical excuse that I have read hundreds of times. People (killers) always, willingfully or naively, tend to forget that you are being prevented from PLAYING A VIDEOGAME, when you get tunneled or camped. You're not able to work on gens, vault, stun the killer, drop pallets, heal yourself, heal others, cleanse totems, sabotage hooks, open exit gates, unhook others, try to unhook yourself, be unhooked from others, when you get camped. And lots of these things happen just the same way if you are being tunneled. You are being denied to play. As a killer, there is nothing preventing you from doing anything. If survivors are able to gen rush, you can still: find them, chase them, hit them, down them, hook them, kill them, destroy pallets, destroy walls, kick generators, use your power, interact with your power (plague, hag, Freddy) close the hatch... There is a huge, enormous, gigantic difference.
It's ok for people to be removed, survivors shouldn't escape every match, as much as killers should not get a 4k every match and slug everytime to get it because winning a match in DbD is the only "important" thing in their lives. What is not ok is for people to be denied the chance of playing. Which is what only killers can do. As much as SWF is broken and it needs work, it still does not prevent the killer from doing everything he could. Being tunneled and/or camped, instead, does that. If you refuse to understand this, you are part of the issue.
And here we go again, with the typical Survivor excuse 'The Killer can prevent someone from playing the game! 🤪'
It's part of the game. If you can't handle your opponent trying to win; don't play PvP games. How is this a surprise 5 years into the game's life?
The Killer hooks you, and he has every right to ensure you die. It is his goal. Stop with this BS about how unfair it is that the Killer tries to win.
-
Oh boy; no more needing to tell your SWF where a trapper/Hag trap is, or where a lit totem is; just make it glow bright white!
I get the thought behind it, but I feel like it would be busted AF when combined with SWFs. 'NoED at glowing light' or 'Trapper trap at glowing light' instead of needing to describe where it is. At least doing it with a map requires an item.

No it doesn't detect cheaters if you know how to get around it. I've seen killers moving at the speed of sound and flying around without getting caught. I remember going on Minecraft servers and you can get kicked for flying. The game doesn't even know if you're moving too fast or flying. It just doesn't. If it did there would be no evidence of flying Ghost Faces.
And how would anti-cheat know to ban people, if people don't submit reports? No anti-cheat magically knows what a hack is; it has to be programmed in.
And very few insta-ban for new hacks; they want to get as many cheaters as possible in one wave. if they insta-banned everyone the second they get a new hack put in Easy AntiCheat (or whatever one is being used), then hack-developers would just make ANOTHER HACK. By waiting, they can catch the most hackers in one go, instead of banning 100, then a new hack coming out, then banning 100 more, then a new h ack coming out.
Instead it's like ban 1000, a new hack comes out, wait a bit, ban 1000 more, etc.
You're talking like someone who has 0 idea how this works and yet expects everything to do what they expect.
'Minecraft can do it, so why can't this!?' Because this is not Minecraft? Because the minecraft server HAS a flying cheat built in, which makes it easier to LOOK FOR the cheat? Because you were using an older hack (if you were using a hack, that is)?
Again; you're basically applying your 0 knowledge to DbD, then acting like you found a flaw. The only flaw is your logic.

I know it's not a magic thing every dev can do. But every competitive game as popular as dbd has ways of detecting cheats other than "record your own gameplay, send it to us, and we'll get back to you in 1 year." Of course they don't have to do that and they can keep hackers around but that's their problem at that point.
And they DO detect cheats with the anticheat. Jesus. Recording evidence to send in HELPS them. It's not one or the other.
You're complaint is basically 'The police can ticket speeders, but HOW DARE THEY put up speed limit signs!' 🤦♂️

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2410168#Comment_2410168
No they should be able to see the games and have ways of detecting certain stats like how fast someone moves. Even the most basic of anti-cheats can detect when someone is moving too fast. BHVR has no idea what happens in any of their games and that's really bad.
Call of Duty in like 2008 let you go back into previous games and view them any way you want. At least BHVR should have that power.
How would they 'see the games'? Live? With this many people?
Or again; recorded and downloaded each and every time someone files a report? Imagine the petabyes of storage needed on probably a monthly basis for that.
And 'recording a game for playback' is an engine-specific thing. Hence why Source games can do it; it's a Source Engine thing. It's not some magical option the devs did not check when making DbD.

For what? Hacking?
What are they supposed to do; take people's word for it? It's not like they have the internet speed and hard drive space and manpower to record every match every player is having across every console, then annotate these videos so they can find them again in the event someone claim a hacker was in one.
The only conceivable way to get video proof is to ask the player base to make it. Anything else is not really possible.

Honestly, despite Depp's voice for Sweeney, I actually really enjoyed the film. I thought everybody else nailed it, the costumes were ######### awesome, the movie looked sufficiently grimy. I'm glad they went with practical effects for the kills and even the chair. Depp doesn't do a nearly bad enough job to make me dislike the movie.
It's leagues better than most musical adaptations, imo.
Oh, Depp was fine, in my opinion. He just did not have the proper voice for the role. He should have been the Judge.
Hell, him and Rickman's duet of 'Pretty Women' was amazing together; their voices complimented each other well. The roles just should have been reversed, and would have been, if they were not banking on Depp's popularity from Pirates.

Oh god, not Depp Sweeny Todd. That musical was screwed up because the producers just HAD to bank on Depp's popularity.
If you listen to the proper stage play; Depp would have been a shoe-in for the Judge, due to his range, and Alan Rickman should have been Sweeny Todd.
Sorry, it just angers the musical lover in me that the whole thing was butchered because 'star power' put Depp in the wrong role. It's not even his fault.

And now, if OP hasn't read the other suggestions like I said, they're going to say something like "disable it if the killer is chasing a survivor" or "disable it if a survivor is near the hook".
At which point one of us will point out that Survivors can stand 40+ meters from the hook, in 2 separate directions, thereby forcing the Killer to camp or to give up an unhook. This removes power from what is supposed to be the power role.
At which point some Survivors will then claim they 'don't see anything wrong with that' and 'it punishes camping, so it does it's job'.
At which point...🙃

I think if you get a crow you should be able to speed up timer, get 3 crows and can instantly finish bleed out. Slugging is used so often because there is minimal punishment for killer leaving survivor on ground for 4 minutes. You can speed up hook states that are half the time of bleed out, no reason to not give being slugged same option.
I think it should only happen if everyone is slugged and/or hooked. I refuse to allow another 'kill myself for hatch' scenario.

The weird thing is, I did the botmatch thing for the revamped new player experience and I didn't notice anyone getting stuck on anything I think, so there's some kind of navmesh that -does- work, just... Not for the zombies? It's really bizarre.
That's true! And the zombie Ai would be no different from Survivor AI; find Survivors if Survivor is within <x> meters (or if a noise is made in <x> meters; go towards noise), and use the navmesh to get there. But it would have added scripts to attack said Survivors.
Huh...Now it's really baffling that zombies get stuck.

Forget finding survivors, the AI can't even handle navigating -around- a tree instead of through it.
True. Which is odd; I always thought this game would use a navigation mesh...On second thought; it probably did not even have THAT until Nemesis because there was 0 AI to use it. Why have it if nothing uses it?
So now I wonder if DbD uses AI pathing or a navigation mesh...

Killer nerfs. I fear no man, but that thing... *Looks at the NERF bat* It scares me...

The game should calculate the shortest path between the killer and the survivor and based on the distance of this shortest path it should decide if the survivor is in terror radius.
This is however also not a perfect solution, because imagine survivor is standing above the killer, but since the stairs are far away, survivor is not in the terror radius. If the survivor jumps down the survivor falls directly on the killer, which is weird because there was no warning. As a solution maybe there should be an additional warning music indicating how easy it is for the survivor to get to the killer.
No offense to the devs, but the game could not handle calculating the AI for more than 2 zombies to find Survivors; I don't think it could handle pathing through floors, walls, and rocks to figure out how far away Survivors are.
-
...Because the Killer is a human being who has a right to pick and choose his tactics and target?
Why have someone playing Killer, if the game says 'No, you already hit them; hit someone else'?
And if Survivors had anti-camp, slug, and tunneling tactics as basekit, then it would be nearly impossible for Killers to get a single kill; imagine the massive bodyblocking if everyone always had BT on top of a 4 perk meta of second-chance perks.

It's called 'averages' and 'math' and 'having a brain'. If one Survivor can do 1 gen in 80 seconds with 0 Great skillchecks and no items, that means it takes 6.66 minutes to do all 5. We will say 8 minutes to account for finding them.
It's called 'removing all nuance from one of the most complicated games'.
I mean, think about it: If a killer already can't 12-hook in a 2v1, then surely, in a 4v1, killers would literally stand zero chance of getting -any- work done, right?
And yet killers average slightly above 2 kills per match!
Could it be that you have removed a couple dozen factors from your calculation to create an entirely unrealistic scenario purely to support your nonsensical perspective?
Nah, must be survivors' fault!
Really? Even though most Survivors save their toolboxes for gens 4 & 5 because of this fact. And with less gens, you have Survivors stacking, which means gens are done FASTER.
Most survivors don't even use toolboxes. And with one survivor on the hook, there's usually only one survivor left to work on gens, and survivors stacking up slows them down, AND they can't stack up on the exit gates.
And just because some 'Killer mains' claim they can get 4K at red ranks and never, ever camp, tunnel, or slug does not mean the tactics need to be removed.
No, but it means you can drop your defence of camping as a necessity, and you can certainly toddle off with your notion of 'camping removal = killers -can't- win'.
You want to argue that the solution isn't good, fine. Even if I fail to see how the situations you described are in any way better for the survivors than the alternatives, it's still a fair argument.
But you can miss me with this nonsense that killers cannot succeed without camping. That is blatantly untrue and is proven untrue on an hourly basis.
Camping or not; I don't agree with punishing the Killer. It's too easy to abuse, and could kick in at a time where the Killer needs to confirm a kill to turn the match around. Add mechanics to encourage not-camping. Let's see..
- Give camped Survivors a BP bonus as 'Distraction: The sight of wriggling meat makes the Killer forget what he should be doing'. For every second a Killer is camping, a Survivor gets 50 BP/s or something. Number can be changed to be fair; I just pulled it out of my butt.
- More perks or mechanics to ENCOURAGE not-camping. Like...A 'chain bonus'? IE: For 45 seconds after hooking a Survivor (number can be changed), the Killer earns more BP for other actions. Like chases, breaking pallets/gens, attacks, etc.
That second one would encourage Killers to leave the hook because they have a rapidly-expiring bonus to take advantage of.
-
TBF; both sides scream anything is OP within the hour it hits the PTB.
-
Maybe add a 'Give up' bar to right click. It only can be filled by Dying survivors if everyone is Dying or Hooked.
When filled (takes 5 seconds of holding right click), it doubles the bleed-out speed. Releasing the mouse button drains the bar and brings bleed-out speed back to normal (in case someone had D.Strike, or Kobe's off the hook and you want to try living).
Since it can only be used if EVERYONE alive is in Dying or Hooked, it cannot be abused to die faster to give a friend the hatch.

What every 'Whaa, Camping is bad' Survivor ignores is that Killers cannot 12 hook. The state of the game as it is right now; the Killer does not have the time to 12 hook. From a time standpoint, it would take the Killer twice as long to 12 hook as it would a SINGLE Survivor doing all 5 gens, solo, without skillchecks, perks, or items.
Based on -what-?
Literally based on WHAT. How the F did you calculate this game down to every single possible flipping detail? How did you exactly measure the time it takes the survivors to move to and find generators, how did you account for the possibility that your chase leads you to a gen that's being worked on? How did you account for players going for a chest or doing a challenge? How did you account for people going hex or totem hunting?
Or are you just spewing nonsense again?
Just look at how 3 gens can pop in ONE chase.
Yes. And from then on, they work much, MUCH slower, because there's less space for the survivors to work with, and there's fewer survivors capable of actively working on gens. The survivors had their power moment, now they have the second half of the game left to go, but they just lost 2/3rds of their progression speed!
Seriously, gens 1 and 2 matter practically nothing. It's gens 4 and 5 that are the kickers.
Yeah, just prevent Killers from winning AT ALL
Hyperbole to the Nth degree. Just because YOU can't get a kill without camping it down doesn't mean no one else can.
To complain that the Killer killed you, and make no mistake; that's what this boils down too
Only in your absolutely drunken mind, where the reality of pretty much none of the survivors complaining about a fair takedown is inconvenient to your horrendously biased perspective, and therefor discarded.
Just git gud.
You JUST wrote a 6.5 paragraph babyrage about how badly YOU suck at playing killer.
YOU need to 'git gud', because the majority of killers don't camp or tunnel, and they do just fine without it.
Myself included.
'Based on what?'
It's called 'averages' and 'math' and 'having a brain'. If one Survivor can do 1 gen in 80 seconds with 0 Great skillchecks and no items, that means it takes 6.66 minutes to do all 5. We will say 8 minutes to account for finding them.
If we say it takes Killers, ON AVERAGE (there's that 'math' again) 90 seconds (1 minute, 30 seconds) to find, chase, hit, chase, hit, pick up, & carry to a hook (this is also assuming loops and pallets), you multiply that by 12; 1080 seconds. Divide by 60 (the amount of seconds in a minute) and you get 18 minutes to 12 hook everyone.
Wow! MATH! 😘
'Seriously, gens 1 and 2 matter practically nothing. It's gens 4 and 5 that are the kickers.'
Really? Even though most Survivors save their toolboxes for gens 4 & 5 because of this fact. And with less gens, you have Survivors stacking, which means gens are done FASTER.

And just because some 'Killer mains' claim they can get 4K at red ranks and never, ever camp, tunnel, or slug does not mean the tactics need to be removed.
And the rest of your post is insults. No one cares how you play. All these 'punish camping!" threads are ALSO babyrage. They're just babyrage you agree with.

If you are on two different floors on midwich for example, the killer isn't really close at all. To me something like this feels like a leftover byproduct of introducing 2 story maps and you're just calling it a "feature".
You not liking it does not mean it's a 'bug'.
Christ; Survivor mains really think their subjective views are objective reality.

This is a game play issue that needs to be fixed by the Developers. In fact, it is the largest issue in the game right now. No other game that I know of has ever let a game-flaw this major stay in the game for this long. One player preventing another player from playing the game they bought is completely unacceptable from a design perspective.
The Developers tried to fix this one time and just stopped after that. They tried to pause the hook timer while the player was being camped and it didn't work because survivors would initiate chases around the hook.
Band-aid fixes such as Decisive Strike and Borrow Time only work if those perks are brought into the game and if the killer doesn't just ignore them.
Yet the core idea was a good idea, it just needs some adjusting. Why not try pausing the hook timer, while the killer is in so many meters AND is not in a chase. Or transfer bloodpoints to the survivor that is being camped, while the killer is in so many meters AND is not in a chase. Or add a 5 or 10 second timer. Or if no survivors are near the hook and the killer stays within so many meters.
The point is, this is a solvable game design flaw. The Developers tried ONE fix, then gave up. That's just lazy.
######### hell. the 'AND not in a chase' is STILL A PROBLEM.
Survivors just stand 30+ meters away, in opposite directions. Now the Killer can't start a chase without giving up an unhook, and he can't protect his hook without being punished. I have pointed this out probably 100 times by now. But Survivor mains keep ignoring reality to stomp their feet and demand their easy to abuse trash ideas.
And stealing the Killer's BP is just the height of spite. No. No, no, ######### no. Stop. This is literally not balance, it's nothing but toddler-levels of spite.
Get it through your head; this idea is abuseable. Do you think the devs really only tried one thing, internally? Do you really think they have not brainstormed more ideas than these forums have suggested?
How about, if Survivors don't switch gens at 50%, the Killer gets their BP. What? That's not fair? Survivors are just doing their objective? WELL ENSURING YOU DIE IS THE KILLER'S OBJECTIVE! Get it through your head!

Literally no one is complaining about being hooked.
But there's three hook states. There's four survivors. A killer that facecamps reduces gameplay to skillchecks, with an additional holding M1 for everyone that isn't the camping target.
No stealth play, no chases, no totem hunting, no looking for items, no lingering dread wondering where the killer might be, no helping other survivors...
Imagine if the game were changed so that the moment any survivor is put on the hook, the game just launches into a two minute cutscene, after which the hooked survivor dies, and the others escape. Match closes.
Just being stuck there in a two minute cutscene where nothing happens.
Would you want to play that? Either side?
What every 'Whaa, Camping is bad' Survivor ignores is that Killers cannot 12 hook. The state of the game as it is right now; the Killer does not have the time to 12 hook. From a time standpoint, it would take the Killer twice as long to 12 hook as it would a SINGLE Survivor doing all 5 gens, solo, without skillchecks, perks, or items.
Just look at how 3 gens can pop in ONE chase.
And what is the normal reply to that? 'Oh, fix that problem later'. Yeah, just prevent Killers from winning AT ALL, and 'fix that later'. That really shows the mindset of everyone making bullshit 'fixes'. But to these whiny Survivors; genrush is fine, legal, and fair, but a Killer trying to get kills outside the Survivor Rulebook is punishable by fragging their computer.
The OTHER mindset of these folks is 'Punish the Killer has harshly as possible', with things like stealing his BP, or openly abuseable mechanics. I still remember one Survivor main openly admitting they want the old punishment back, exploits and all, because it punishes camping. Everything else was secondary to 'punish the Killer'. Balance? No. Issues with denying the Killer legit kills? Did not care! Killer was punished; so it worked for them!
Survivors have to get it through their thick heads; if Survivors are allowed to win as efficiently as possible, so are Killers. This includes tunneling and camping. The fact that it 'prevents the Survivor from playing' is the dumbest complaint ever said. The whole point of the Killer is to remove Survivors from the game.
To complain that the Killer killed you, and make no mistake; that's what this boils down too, is to show that you should have 0 input on the game balance process. Because all these Survivor mains want is to prevent the Killer from killing them. Everything is a smoke screen to 'Whaa, I lost. Change the game to hold my hand.'
Killer camped you? Tunneled you? Git gud. Don't be found first.
Blame your teammates for an unsafe unhook; the Killer, if they are not a noob, won't waste time trying to FIND you to tunnel if he sees someone else in front of him. It's about time economy; if the Killer can see the wounded Survivor; he dies first. If he can't; he won't waste time hunting when he sees someone ELSE in front of him.
But Survivors screw up with unsafe unhooks, being found first, going into dead zones, etc. and then claim it's the Killer's fault, and the game should change to prevent however they screwed up.
Just git gud. 🤷♂️

How to deal with problematic Killers:
Learn to play around their powers. 👍️
-
That's a no from me, for two reasons:
- FNaF is not scary. It's jumpscares. Jumpscares are the lazy way of 'scaring' people, which is why hack movie writers always throw them into their movies. Same with bad games.
- The FNaF fanbase is mostly children. DBDs player base is toxic enough without adding in a new flood of 13 year old mic warriors who learned a new 'bad word' and use it as often as possible.

I mean technically BY DEFINITION ( not an opinion ) camping is cheating.
It's rigging a game by taking away someone's option to even attempt at beating you making it impossible for them as a single player to win. If you have a problem with that take it up with the English language.
But yeah sorry, but I don't think removing a player from game through removing their option to play the game makes you a good player. It makes you a bad player who is only confident in playing killer if there is 3 survivors or less.
So yeah, you should " Git gud " because you're playing with a handicap and forcing the game to be played with one when no one agreed to you taking the game hostage for another player if not all of them.
If you disagree? I don't care. I made my statement. You can disagree. I'm not changing my stance, you're probably not changing yours.
AHAHAHAHA! 'Camping is cheating by definition' 😂😂🤣🤣
Cheating:
act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination
deceive or trick
avoid (something undesirable) by luck or skill
Only the first really applies, so...
So no, camping is not 'cheating because of the English language' because camping is not objectively unfair or dishonest.
Is genrushing unfair or dishonest? No; it's survivors doing their objective. So is camping; it's Killers doing their objective; to kill.
You are 100% wrong. It's not cheating, objectively or subjectively. Rofl. It's not 'BY DEFINITION' cheating.
Peak entitlement; even tries to change then freaking English language.

I mean . . . not gonna lie ... tunneling is cringe but camping is where you go too far.
If you have to literally make the player on hook not have an opportunity or choice other than to die on hook because you're not good enough to get a sacrifice by actually playing the game then . . . you're the problem?
The occasional tunnel? mkay. You lost track of the unhooker? Fine. The off hooked person ran in front of you? okay. You had a choice and opt to go for the weak link to get them out of the game sooner because you're not confident as a killer? Eh
Let's be real. If you see more than one flashlight, maybe you should use lightborn or learn to not face the direction you suspect survivors are in. OR use Franklin's to knock it out of their hands.
At least that way you're not getting a penalty for being a camper and proving them right? and if you actually play for fun? Why camp?
How do you have fun playing a game if you're sitting at hook for more than half of it? And if you know who their best looper is, don't take the bait a second time?
No one cares that you don't like camping. It's the same song & dance from every entitled Survivor; 'Boo-hoo, I got REMOVED FROM THE GAME! 😭'
This is the Killer's goal. He does not have to ask you if you had fun first. He does not have to ask you if you 'played enough'.
The Killer's goal is to put you on a hook until you die. Be it 1 hook or 3. But entitled Survivor mains keep acting like the Killer doing his goal is evil, yet facing SWF sweat squads & Killers need to 'git gud'.
It's such a huge level of entitlement:
Killers: Facing a SWF sweat squad breaks allot of the Killers. 🤔
Survivors: Git gud, scub! It's part of the game! 🙃
Killer camps a hook to remove someone from the game (adding pressure to the remaining 3 Survivors).
Survivors: OMGHAX! Devs! This is an exploit! The Killer is toxic! Ban him! I bet I can report for this! Change the game so the Killer can't kill me...I mean, can't camp! STOP BEING TOXIC! THINK OF MY FUN! 😭

These are okay and useful.
I was expecting more gestures that have no place in DbD; so many people think freaking DANCING should bein the game. Probably Fortnite kids. 🙄
