I feel both side. I've had a killer say we were toxic SWF and I was a solo. So was someone else because I reached out out them.
I think Survivors shouldn't teabag after a pallet stun or flashlight click unless you're trying to piss the killer off, which I do if they tunnel my friends the occasional time I play with them.
But Killers also can't blame everything in SWF.
I'm not blaming SWF. I'm just pointing out that Survivors will use every tool at their disposal to win; perks, teamwork, SWF.
But when Killers use every tool at their disposal; Suddenly they are 'toxic' and 'ruining the game'. And 'should be banned' and the game needs to be changed to remove the tactics 'for the health of the game'.
The level of 4 year old 'No one but me can win' energy in the complaints is amazing.

So you are saying that if you are bullied by a bigger person, you can bully a smaller person? And that smaller person cant be mad because the biggest guy bullied you in the first place?
I'm pointing out the hypocrisy. Survivors are allowed to run meta & try their hardest to win. But Killers, doing the same thing, are 'toxic' and 'should be banned', according to these forums.
Because Killers winning is 'unfun' and 'ruining the game'.
The level of disconnect from the people complaining is staggering.

Yeah, killer mains are pretty angry right now.
Survivors Run 4 meta perks on 4 survivors, along with voice comms. Will genrush or bully as depip squads: 'It's in the game!'
Also Survivors when Killers run meta, pick certain Killers, or camp/tunnel/slug: 'Stop being toxic/angry!'
Just sayin'.

Of course they will try their hardest to escape. That's their goal.
But I have question for you. Do you think Survs shouldn't 'genrush' (note, I don't believe genrush is a 'thing' outside of very specific perk and item usage)? Do you think second chance perks are op? Do you think any perk or items survs have to let them detect the Killer is op?
My point was that, if one side can try their hardest (a.k.a 'genrushing', which is just trying to win as soon as possible); why is the other side screamed at and shamed for doing the same thing via 'tunneling'?
It's a double standard; Survivors run meta perks, jump on voice comms, and bang out gens. But Killers are 'sweats', 'tryhards', 'toxic', 'lazy', etc. if they run meta perks or 'tunnel'.

As a killer main I never use Noed. I would be completely fine with it being removed. However if they were to remove Noed to compensate I would love it if they removed dead hard.
That's a perk that also rewards bad game play. You make a mistake you won't make it to that loop. Press E and you win.
I feel its the same as Noed. At least Noed can be stopped by cleansing totems. Dead Hard not so much.
The problem with removing NoED is that it's a threat, even if the Killer does not run it; Survivors don't know if he has it or not, and have to do or not do bones, in a risk vs reward system.
Do they risk ignoring bones & pop gens, only to get NoED at the end?
Or do they risk wasting time doing bones, only to learn that they could have genrushed after the fact?
You remove NoED and that risk is gone; Survivors can genrush all day long because they KNOW NoED no longer exists.
Removing it changes the game in more ways than just 'NoED can't be used'.

@MrPeanutbutter said:
I personally don’t like using NOED because it feels like a cheap way to get kills, but I think it is a decent and somewhat balanced way to punish survivors for ignoring a secondary objective in order to genrush. Especially against coordinated SWF teams, most killers are going to struggle against a genrushing strategy. The threat of NOED helps slow down the game a bit if survivors are forced to spend time on another objective, and if they ignore totems to slam out 5 gens right away then killer at least has a chance to secure a kill or two. The one thing that really sucks for solo Q survivors is no base kit totem counter, so you either have to use a perk slot on Small Game or just spend way too much much time looking for totems when they may already be gone.
The thing is, if NoED were 100% removed; Survivors would never do totems (Barring Hex: Ruin, which is obvious if it's in play).
The THREAT of NOED ensures Survivors slow down & cleanse totems, which buys Killer's time to kill. Of course, that is also WHY Survivors whine; they want to genrush as fast as possible, and anything counter to that goal is 'OP' and 'broken'.

@aroell said:
Are you guys telling me that gen rushing is a problem now? Remember how old BNP was? Tunneling has never been this bad. Killers just want excuses to be lazy and not actually play the game. Then they call themselves skillful after doing the bare minimum.
Survivors just want to do the bare minimum and will try shaming Killers into not playing optimally, then call themselves skillful after using peer pressure to ensure Killers don't 'slug', 'camp', or 'tunnel'.
Seriously; are you going to ride that 'Killers lazy 4 camping!' horse to death?
-
The bottom line is this:
Survivors will use any perks and tactics to try their hardest to escape.
So why should Survivors also dictate what Killers can and cannot do under the bunk of 'lazy tactic' or 'only noobs do that'? All Survivors will do is try to prevent Killers from playing as optimally as they do.

192 hours? Not bad but you still have a lot to learn. Invest some more time and you will learn that tunneling isn’t gonna do much in the red ranks, will barely get you a kill or two. But players like you never change
You done with the personal attacks? Because at first it was amusing, but now it's growing dull.
I don't care about rank. I play to have fun and, to me, part of the fun is trying my best to win while the opposing team/player/players also try their best to win.
This includes using every tactic allowed by the rules (and therefore means no cheating, hacks, or exploits).
But then some people come along who just can't handle losing, and they start inventing rules and try shaming the opposing players with bunk about 'sweats' and 'tryhards' and 'REAL players don't do <x> tactic/perk/Killer!'.
And they're the ones who are never happy, unless they always win. Anything that makes THEM lose is clearly 'unfun' or 'OP' or 'for scrubs'. They're the 'Final Destination, No Items' people of Smash Brothers, because items make them lose. The 'No Items In Mario Kart' players, because the Blue Shell is 'for noobs'.
They invent rule after rule after rule. Every time they lose, they look at what the winning side did, and declare it 'unfair'. Because they never lose, if they can forever claim 'The opposing player(s) used cheap tactics'.
The bottom line of this is that you, me, and everyone else, have NO RIGHT to tell other people how to play, or to shame them into playing in some way you, I, or anyone else approve of.

Classic killer main. Play a game of solo survivor against a tunneler at 5 gens and you will know how it is. People like you are the reason people are quitting everyday, the game is unplayable without survivors
The game is unplayable without EITHER side.
And I've been tunneled; it was funny as hell. Dude chased me down as Billy, then stood revving in my face while my SWF buddy was poking him nonstop and another player was purposefully fast-vaulting a nearby house (It was Myer's map).
Eventually, just before Stage 2, he left to grab the vaulter, my friend unhooked me, and Billy dropped everything to chase me down, hook me again, and resumed revving in my face.
I had never laughed so hard at how hard this guy was trying to ruin my game. I struggled, since every second I was on hook was another second everyone else could do gens and, at the end, I was the only kill he had.
I was laughing so hard, tears were coming down my face. I thought 'laughing until I cried' was hyperbole. An expression with no actual truth in it.
Until that day.
Hell, I still start chuckling when I think of how badly this guy wanted to ruin my night.
But go on, fam. It's Killer's fault that the game is dying. HOW DARE THEY TRY TO WIN. 😜

It’s sad that you have encountered players like this, but taking out your rage on innocent people won’t make it any better. Obviously no one will be nice if you play dirty
What rage? I'm just pointing out that, if the end result is the same, I'm going to not care about EGC and just play to win.
Survivors ALSO play to win, so why is it so evil for Killers to play to win?
Oh, right; survivor's 'feelings'. 🙄

Don’t call it a win if you aren’t willing to do what it actually takes to get a real win. Tunneling is the laziest tactic that is only in the game because the devs don’t know how to deal with it.
I don’t feel bad when I lose, I feel bad because I know that I’m eating ######### and can’t do anything about it. Skill doesn’t matter when you are getting tunneled
Ah yes; a 'real win', as dictated to me by people who aren't me. 🙄

I agree that bringing feelings into it is really stupid. But I at least wish people would actually want to enjoy the game and not speedrun every trial. Or that people would want to play fun builds instead of running the same handful of perks every single game. Camping/tunneling so early into the match actively denies anyone else from advancing in the game and enjoying themselves. Not saying there's no reason behind it, but to reiterate your point, why play a game with other people when you want to shut it down as quickly as possible?
This goes for both sides as well. I get really bored when other survivors all run the same perks without anything unique to their character and genrush while ignoring everyone else on the team.
I try to enjoy the game, but if I don't try my hardest? 'GG EZ baby noob Killer'. 'Uninstall, noskill'.
If I try to win? 'Noob camper baby', 'play like a real player'.
If I'm going to be ragged on either way, I'm going to play MY WAY.
All this talk of 'camping is for noobs' and 'real wins' from other people is nothing more than a lame pressure tactic to convince Killers to stop trying to win, so they, in turn, have easy matches where they most likely t-bag out the gate.

Are you telling me to quit the game because you and many others are selfish? This is the only game I have ever played where people go out of their way to play scummy and say “oh I’m just trying to win” . This game isn’t for you if you are willing to ruin it for others. I paid for this game and I should be able to play it without anyone ruining it.
No. What you play is not up to me to decide. I'm not telling you to quit.
But by the same thing; you can't tell me how to play, or shame me for not adhering to your made up rules about 'fair play' that involve telling me to stop trying to win, just because me winning hurts your feelings.
I, also, paid for this game. And, short of cheating, I can try to win within the confines and programmed rules of the game, and I should not be looked down upon because it makes you, or others, feel bad when you lose.

So now we can’t have simple respect for others feelings in a game? The killers objective is to kill, not ruin others games because of their selfishness. I’m sorry but if you can’t play the game without ruining others experience you shouldn’t play.
It's not my job as Killer to PM you and ask if it's okay to try to win because camping and slugging 'ruin your game'. If you can't accept that the enemy team (or player, in this case), is going to play optimally, then maybe PvP games aren't your cup of tea?
My goal, as Killer, is to kill. Not to cater to your feelings and ask if it's okay if I try to win. If me trying to win ruins your gameplay experience, then playing against other people is probably not something you will enjoy.
-
Here's one of the more amusing things about this game, for me:
I stay near a hook because a Survivor is nearby? I'm 'camping' and need to 'git gud' and should stop being 'toxic'. I should try to hook Survivors more.
I stay near a hook because the exit gates are open & I want a kill? Again; 'camping', and 'why are you (am I) trying to hard for a kill?' and 'Just let them go'.
So basically, according to those who complain about 'camping'; I can't stay near the hook during a match, and I can't stay near the hook in the Endgame Collapse.
So...when am I allowed to try winning? 🤷♂️
-
I don't know because I've never seen one in the wild. 😁
-
When are Survivors going to learn that they can cleanse totems?
It's literally possible for this perk to never activate, if Survivors actually bring items/perks that help them hunt totems. It's like some Survivors think they deserve 5 minute gen matches with absolutely no punishment.
-
@xEa said:

Simple:
If those killers i mentioned are played well, they win the chase, no matter how good the survivor is, end of the story. As survivor you have to 100% rely on the killers mistake. Thats the reason why survivor play "boring" against those type of killers so they can avoid the chase in general.
On the other hand, a Billy or a Blight for example have some sort of strenght measurement with the survivor. The better player wins the chase.
Survivors are not supposed to 'win chases'.
They're supposed to buy their team time to get gens done, then hope their team is altruistic enough to unhook them when they, eventually, get caught. They buy time by extending a chase, not win it.
-
TBF; if he was hacking, he was probably one of those types who thinks 'I am only using hacks because THE GAME holds me back! I am really, truly this good!'
Cheaters will jump through so many hoops to explain away, or blame others, for why they HAVE to cheat. And those types of people will, of course, blame everyone else when they misplay or lose. Because they're too good to make those mistakes, you know.
-
It always blows my mind when people claim subjective fun, which can change from person to person, and is usually being done from the view of playing AGAINST the Killer instead of AS the Killer, is a legit reason for balance changes.
If we went for 'fun', as seen by only Survivors, for every Killer; no Killer would be fun to play AS, or ever win.

Hitting survivors on hook doesn't do anything (they don't die faster), so when a killer does it most of the time it's just to "humilliate" the hooked person.
I do it when the Survivor is one of the characters with a high-pitched scream. Some of those screams border on being physically painful.
This is not intended to sling mud at the VA's; I'm autistic, and I can hear the whine of fluorescent lights & CRT TVs, so higher-pitched noises are an issue with me.

In my matches the survivors were always smart enough to go hide the key somewhere to avoid Franklin's. I can't count the number of times I came across a key a fellow survivor put in corner or chest to avoid Franklin's.
Honestly, I feel that, if a chest has an item in it, after 60 seconds of no one interacting with it, it should close & re-lock. So Survivors have to re-open it to get that item back.
-
Wait; DC penalty is off?
Welp, I'm not playing until it gets turned back on. Nothing like Survivors using any petty excuse to DC & blame me for their actions.
(Yes, I'm aware it goes both ways. I play Killer more, so I speak from a Killer perspective.)

Why would it trigger me? As I said; all 3 are legit tactics. I just dislike slugging the most, to do or to have done to me.
But that has no bearing on them being used, or being useful. My personal view on slugging vs tunneling vs camping has no right to impact how others play using those strats.
I tunnel. I camp. I don't slug.
That view extends no further than me because I have no right to decide how you, or others, play.

- It doesnt help anything, high rank play will have someone keep stalking you setting trap and disarm all of them
- He needs tons of QoL improved, not about buff up his trap number.
- Unlike Freddy trap which slow survivors down, Beartrap keep them in place which is much stronger. He should not able to walk through trap because it will make his path far shorter in loops for easy hit. And because of it, Trapper has to make smart play at which path he should trap first, or he trap himself and waste time. The problems relied on Dead hard through trap, just remove it.
- So 4 Coil addon as basekit?
Your 2 + 4 is to have Double Purple bag & 4 Coil addon as basekit. This is over buffed
As I said; these were not meant to be taken all together. They are separate ideas on ways to buff him, not a list of everything that should be added.

I just feel slugging is the most BM, when I do it. :P

The New Franklin's is actually better than the old one. Realistically speaking, you can't expect to always expect the key to disintegrate with Old Franklin's. Either the survs will stash the key, or somebody will collect it. It's not liek you can camp a key all game.
Franklin's was bad against keys, and it wasn't much help against toolboxes either. Now New Franklin's shreks brown toolboxes and medkits. If you drop your brown kit, no self care for you.
I know you meant 'Shreds toolboxes' but now I'm picturing Shrek as The Entity rising out of the ground to claim an item while screaming 'GET OUTTA MAH SWAMP!'
-
Ways I would fix Trapper. Note: I don't not think they should ALL be implemented, only that they are separate ideas:
- Make his traps invisible past <x> meters. This would mean that Survivors may step in them if they are running, or being chased, but will see them if they are walking/being alert. This also fixes his traps screaming 'HERE I AM!' as they stand out on The Game like neon signs.
- Allow Trapper to start with all his traps. Sure, he can only pick them back up if he places enough to go under his carry limit (thus forcing the player to think about placement early game). This reduces that opening time spent finding & picking up his traps. Not even Hag has to go find her traps at start.
- Allow him to walk over his own traps. It's frustrating to watch a Survivor Dead Hard over a trap, thus turning a trapped loop into a safe loop/extending chases as the Trapper has to reverse, then circle, the loop. Maybe make it a sped-up window-vault animation as he steps over his trap.
- Allow him to 'drop' traps. Instead of S L O W L Y placing a trap, he should drop it, already armed. Again; this is about reducing time wasted. The Trapper suffers so much because Survivors can bang out gens in 5 minutes, while he wastes 2-3 minutes just finding, picking up, moving to a good position, & setting up his trap.
These are my ideas to buff Trapper.

I'm not denying that. I personally don't have a ton of key escapes. Just because of the way I play. I play aggressive and usually slug a team out way before they get a chance to use that key.
I try to avoid slugging unless I see a key. I feel it's the most BM out of the three 'Big No's'. And I have nothing against any of them; I tunnel and camp as needed. I just, personally, dislike slugging.

Yeap. But now it's for med kits mostly. Med kits are the strongest survivor item their is, and I'll die on that hill. They can delete valuable pressure a killer needs. If you can deplete med kits. That's big
Maybe but keys can let any number of Survivors insta-escape with 0 counter play. In a chase? Tap use for 1/2 a frame and the hatch is open, and you're out.
That's outright ignoring Killer pressure, right there. It would be as if Killers could interact with a randomly-spawning item to get kills.
-

It never drained charges in old franklins demise. New FD makes items almost useless depending on how long they sit.
Again. I'd argue that's a buff. Despite not destroying keys
My bad, you are correct.
Still, I'd argue it's a nerf since it was used almost exclusively for keys.
Killers can counter flashlights with positioning and toolboxes would be eaten alongside keys.

NOED is a problem that the devs refuse to fix.
That's because Survivors can fix it by cleansing totems.
With the Franklin's nerf, Killers can't even delete keys the way Survivors can delete NoED.

@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/261605/kind-of-frustrated-over-franklins-nerf
I'd argue it got buffed. NOT nerfed. Sure it doesn't stop key escapes. But if someone brings even a brown medkit. A few seconds and it's "useless". In a sense you NEED to find a team mate to heal you. And you can't do it yourself. Med kits help reduce a lot of pressure a killer can create as example
The charge drain should NOT be under estimated
Before, it drained items and then ate them.
Now, it leaves empty items on the ground.
This is the nerf I'm talking about. Franklin's no longer destroys items, which means you can't stop a key from being used, because they can always go back, pick it up at 0 charges, and escape.
Before this nerf, the key would disappear.
-
Tunneling gets a Survivor out of the match ASAP, which slows down the gen times, which increases the time needed for Survivors to escape, which increases my chances of finding & killing another Survivor.
So I'll keep tunneling; it's a legit strat that works in my favor.
As for camping? I camp when I'm aware Survivors are being altruistic.
Keep in mind, 99% of the time, Survivors scream 'HE'S CAMPING!' while the Killer is aware they are hiding near the hook, waiting for the Killer to leave.
That's TWO people (Hooked & hider) not doing gens; why would I walk away & allow an unhook, which then puts 2 more Survivors back on gens?
-
My guess is that it will flag an account after a certain number of reports, to be looked at by a human for a ban.
My HOPE is that people who abuse this system with fake reports will face bans, themselves.

there isn't a single occasion where they'd be valid. or are you going to lose a vital organ if you don't win every match?
I see, so basically me trying to win is wrong, huh? Oh, I'm sorry! I was not aware that only the upper class Survivors are allowed their 16 (4 each) meta perks, SWF, and voice comms.
But a Killer using tools IN THE GAME to try winning is toxic and try hard and 'why are you sweating to win?', yes?
Typical Survivor entitlement; Killers need to follow BS fake rules or they are tryhards. While Survivors sit on 16 perks and SWF and are now eager to abuse a report system to enforce their fake rules.

Camping and Tunneling should not be a 'thing to get used to'. they are never necessary, they are just ego-wanking from skillless braggarts and are only still there because it's fiddly to get the game mechanics to punish them directly.
Actually, there are many times where camping and tunneling are valid tactics than can turn a loss into a win.
Just because you don't like it, does not mean they are bad, toxic, or the player is 'skilless'. That's just whining from Survivors who lost to it.

I have an idea. Maybe killers should stop camping/tunneling and they won’t be reported. It’s a toxic strat to begin with that doesn’t need to be in the game at all and is not needed to 4K. Killers use these strats to secure a kill because they are so bad they can’t get a kill otherwise.
I don't care how toxic you THINK it is; IT. IS. NOT. REPORTABLE.
-
We need a dev to come into these threads and assure us it does not work as it seems to work. Because, as of right now, it sounds like salty players can just report for anything and, if enough people do that, innocent players are shafted.
-
It's a BAD IDEA. Survivors already report for stupid BS like 'He tunneled!" 'He camped!' 'He played Plague!' 'He's a Freddy main!'
Or people who assume someone HAS to be cheating because they, themselves, are clearly undiscovered gods of the game and NO ONE can ever beat THEM!
Imagine if 2-4 Survivors spam that report function on a Killer per match; the Killer would get shafted by the auto-ban system.
-
I wish someone would make a thread about the auto-ban idea, because I have a comment on it (But I can't make threads until I'm un-jailed).

A lot of people have been hailing small game as the counter to NOED. And it's true, it is a decent counter. But is it really the best idea to have one perk in order to deal with the threat of another perk? Wouldn't it be much better if said perk in need of a counter was made so that it wouldn't need a counter, especially when that counter takes the spot of one precious perk slot out of four? Plus, that's not to mention that small game counters most other hexes (leave my goddamn huntress lullaby ALONE).
So you're saying that ONE Killer perk out of FOUR should have a built-in counter (other than 'cleansing it'), because it's not good design that Survivors use ONE perk out of SIXTEEN to counter it?
Sorry but, no?

Oh look; I seem to have dropped some pertinent information about camping & tunneling:
