Or maybe.. just hear me out.. If BHVR actually fixed their poor excuse of a game, players wouldn't want to DC? There's obviously a reason people are dcing and BHVR is doing nothing to solve the core root of the issue. They're throwing a bandaid on it and blaming the players.

People will always DC. There will always be people who assume they are better than they are, ragequit a match, and blame their teammates/the other team.

Do you think DBD invented DCing? I've seen it as far back as Quake.

The 'core root' is people being people, not the game.

Except that's not how NOED works. NOED -doesn't- incentivise doing bones, it's the exact opposite. If you invest time hunting totems, you run the risk of wasting time when NOED isn't in play. And if you do all the totems you find, NOED will move to the totem you didn't find.

NOED -would- incentivise doing totems if it either picked a dull totem at the start and didn't light it up, or if its efficacy was based on however many totems are left when the fifth gen is completed.

Doing totems makes NOED more effective, not less. As Orion mentions, the actual strat is to not cleanse the totems you find and instead just check them once the fifth gen pops. But that's still tremendously risky, fully RNG based, and impossible to coordinate in solo queue.

NOED is just an absolute mess of a perk.

(Note: All the caps is not 'internet shouting' in this case; it's just me emphasizing what I'm saying to make it stand out.)

'If you invest time hunting totems, you run the risk of wasting time when NOED isn't in play'

    THAT. IS. THE. POINT!

The point is to make Survivors GET THE <oh heck naw!> OFF OF GENS FOR FIVE BLOODY SECONDS!

The point is to make Survivors do bones because NoED MIGHT BE IN PLAY! They have no way of knowing, so they HAVE. TO. DO. BONES!

Again; you are complaining that NoED does what it is supposed to do! It is supposed to, by EXISTING, make Survivors weigh the risks vs the reward of BOING BONES!

Do you risk it? What if NoED was not in the match? Then you risk your neck for nothing. Oh well!

But what if it is in a match, and you decide 'This Killer does not seem like he has NoED.' And BOOM! HE HAS NoED! Your RISK was not REWARDED.

On the flip side; what if you risk doing totems, and get out, and see he had NoED? Then your RISK of being found doing bones was REWARDED.

RISK VS REWARD! How much more do I need to shout it?

I'm not trying to be an ass (I know; a first for me), but you are LITERALLY pointing at NoED doing it's job and saying 'I don't want to waste time on bones unless I'm 100% rewarded, so it's flawed.'

If NoED makes you waste gen time bone hunting, then NoED did what it exists to do. It HAS to exist like this, because, if it was not an ever-present threat; if Survivors had 100% ways to know it's in a match from the start; It would be garbage.

Killer does not have it? Slam gens!

Killer does have it? Do bones, THEN slam gens!

It. Has. To. Be. A. Mystery. That is it's job; the lurking threat YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT UNTIL END GAME.

    Risk

    Vs

    Reward

  • @Bluewater said:

Then there's one more thing that most survivors don't know. As soon as you heal yourself or another survivor, touch totem, touch gen. Tunneling no longer applies.

that's what many streamers I've heard say

Yeah but I've had many Survivors scream that I'm tunneling when I return to the hook to find them healing each other. And if I hit the injured guy? Tunneling!

Because Survivors demand I play badly & let the injured guy go while I chase the healthy Survivor for a minute and a half, eating 3 more pallets along the way.

I'll keep saying it; When Survivors demand Killer's 'Stop tunneling/camping/slugging', even if they don't realize it, they are really saying 'Stop trying to win'. Because they are asking Killers to stop using effective tactics.

It would be exactly like Killers demanding Survivors stop 'genrushing'. Rushing gens or tunneling kills; both are about doing the given objective as fast as possible.

  • @aroell said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2333787#Comment_2333787

Killers screamed about Decisive strike and Object of obsession, both are ass right now.

Answer this question, would you be able to win without tunneling?

Considering I only tunnel if I really need to apply pressure (IE: 3 gens pop in 1 chase), or if I just happen to run into the same Survivor again (Bad luck for them, but why TF would I walk away?); yes. I win without tunneling all the time.

There are perks to counter it. Survivors need to stop demanding the entire game tie Killer's hands, then tell Killers to 'git gud'.

  • @Firellius said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2333649#Comment_2333649

Difference is that Decisive Strike has a stringent activation condition and baiting out Dead Hard will cost the killer a second or two, tops. And neither of these perks have nearly as much output value as NOED.

NOED demanding that all players in all games always do all totems is considerably worse than Decisive Strike politely requesting that killers don't tunnel. Not to mention that DS isn't even that effective as a tunnelling counter.

This is the point of NoED. It's a hidden threat meant to make Survivors do bones. It was the answer to the genrush problem.

How is that so hard to understand? How? Survivors are literally complaining about a perk working as intended like it's flawed.

And you can counter it by DOING BONES. You can keep it from ever activating! Yet you sit here and say 'I don't want to do bones. This is a game problem. Change NoED so I don't have to do bones'

  • @DeliciousFood said:

I see a lot of rationalization for tunnelling off hook when the simple explanation is: Most killers aren't skilled enough to even handle solo queue gamers. There comes a time where human error causes a game to escape their grasp, or they're simply outmatched. But they should just admit to this: They mess up and aren't as good as they think they are. Map RNG does play a role here, but I find that it also screws over survivors decently enough.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2333654#Comment_2333654

If survivors played optimally, you'd still lose despite the sweatiest perks and the scummiest of strategies. So if you're getting consistent results, chances are you just beat down a bunch of casuals or solo queue gamers you did not have the adequate skill to take on and resorted to a far easier and less skilful alternative. Which is fine, not everyone can be good at this rather simple game, but at least admit to it rather than making the other side sound entitled and then saying you're playing optimally. Chances are you played like crap if you end up resorting to these strategies quite often in public matches, or are very much mis-matched. I'm saying this as someone that fully admits to getting outplayed and sometimes falling back on these tactics to have a chance despite being consistently in red ranks and pretty good with my favoured killers.

Going out of your way to slug everyone at 4-5 gens just reeks of insecurity. Otherwise slugging is fine and should be expected.

Conclusion: How about killers git gud at the game before solo queue actually gets buffed and even their sweat can't compensate their lack of game sense and skill? The same can be said to survivors who rely on ######### map design and perks as BHVR is, albeit slowly and inefficiently, cracking down on this.

I swear a lot of people here should just stick to single player games.

Oh boy! Here come the personal attacks and insinuations about my skill!

Seeing as your post is mostly just insults about my supposed skill, I'll just put it like this 'How about Survivors git gud instead of demanding Killer's tactics be removed to give them easier games?'

Oh right; because if Survivors don't like something; Killers should change how they play. And mechanics should be put in place to remove Killer player agency.

But if Killers don't like something; they need to 'git gud'.

Toi put it another way; If camping was not rewarded by most the playerbase; Killers would not camp. Stop walking towards the camping Killer, and they will lose.

Or you can keep blaming the Killer and demanding BHVR punish them for your bad plays. 🤪

The unhooked and injured survivor is not the easiest. First of all borrowed time is a thing, second of all I have seen many killers ignore other injured survivors to go after the recently unhooked.

There is no excuse for that. If the devs knew how to deal with tunneling/camping, it wouldn’t be a thing.

You need to stop playing this way, because soon you won’t be able to win without making it unfair for the other side. If the devs make it bannable how would you win?

Wrong. Just because you don't like it does not mean it would be gone if they could remove it.

They, 100% CAN remove camping; make hooks teleport. They do it with P.Head's cages. Yet they chose not too...Could it be because they accept camping is a tactic? No, it can't be that, because Survivors are NEVER wrong! 😲

And they add perks to mitigate tunneling, as if they know that it has a time and place, and Survivors 'feelings' over it are not a proper metric to balance the game! But...but that would mean Survivors are ALSO wrong about tunneling needing to be removed! THE NERVE! 😲

It's almost like Survivors screaming for something does not automatically mean that thing should be removed. 🤔

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

All I'm gonna say is that if you take this stance then you have absolutely zero right to complain about clicking, flashlights, genrushing, tbagging, etc. If one side shouldn't care for the other's fun, then the other shouldn't care back.

Which, you know, continues the cycle of toxicity and makes the game a worse experience for everyone but hey! Some people get kicks out of making other peoples' experiences as ######### as possible and who am I to judge?

    You're right.

When Survivors clicky-clicky-, or t-bag; I ignore them. Clearly, they are confident they can run me in a chase, and that's time I can't risk wasting.

Plus, 9 times out of 10, they will follow me around instead of doing gens. So I'm getting free pressure on gens!

People need to learn that something is not 'toxic' just because they THINK the player is doing it to be mean. This includes t-bagging, clicking flashlights, camping, or tunneling.

Sometimes it's the more effective tactic. And if we removed EVERYTHING that hurt someone's feelings; there would be no game to play.

  • @aroell said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2333645#Comment_2333645

Targeting a recently unhooked survivor, choosing to ignore easier targets to ruin someone’s game.

And there's your error; 'To ruin someone's game' is not always the case. Plus, the unhooked (and injured) target IS the easier survivor; they only need one hit to down instead of two, thereby reducing chase times by half, if not more.

This also gets one person out of the game, reducing gen speeds by 1/4.

The problem with Survivors screaming 'TUNNELING' is that they always assign intent like they can read the Killer's mind.

When I tunnel, it's to slow down gen speeds by removing someone from the game. Not 'to ruin someone's game'. But Survivors, angry that they lost, assume I'm trying to make them angry.

If devs knows balance they wouldn't do nerfs/buffs strictly to playerbase suggestion and rant and let's be real just look at ds it was playerbase asked and suggested nerf and it turned out as great nerf and balanced and when they buffed some perks on their own what happened? Ah yes it's same as if they don't even exist in game because nobody is using them... Playerbase indeed knows the balance better than devs because players play this game each day and knows what's up with it I'm 100% sure players could make better nerf to ruin undying than what devs did they made combo useless as such plus gave survivors multiple perks to destroy those totems in first min of match.... Great job btw

You think they make buffs and nerfs based on player suggestion? You really don't know how game design works.

Sure, they may use the forums and other social media as ways to get a players-eye-view of the game, but they go by information they get behind the scenes to determine what to buff or nerf next, and how.

Does this mean they don't make mistakes? No.

But to assume the player base; most of which wants to remove camping, tunneling, slugging, NoED, Nurse, Spirit, Doctor, and D.Strike, Dead Hard, pallets, the DC penalty, etc. Knows better is incredibly laughable.

Just because you're salty over some changes does not mean the devs don't know what they are doing. Perhaps, just perhaps, you're opinions on their changes are biased towards whatever role you enjoy more? Or just biased in general with 'I don't agree with this change, so it's bad, which means the devs are bad'.

  • @Roadrunner said:

Because i dont want to face toxic survivors anyomre. I just DC when they are toxic. I dont see why i should get a penalty for avoiding whats not fun

Because you leaving is just as toxic and ruins the game for 4 other people.

When you play a multiplayer online game, you're making a kind of social contract to not bail on the match until it's over. Kind of like how, if you play a boardgame night with friend, you're agreeing to not flip the table if you lose. It's implied that you will play the game through in both cases.

The difference being: if you habitually ruin games with your friends; they will stop playing with you. And if you ragequit online games; you get banned.

I really don't get why it's apparently impossible for some people to understand that the world is not all about them. Instead it's 'I DC because all I care about is me and my fun! No one else matters!'

But they are also the first to scream if someone ELSE pulls the same thing & ruins the game for THEM by DCing.

  • @justbecause said:

But.....the devs said it's legit! Ps... Same devs that has completely broken game for 20 days now for 50% of community but hey they said so

You say that like it means the completely biased playerbase (on both sides) knows the balancing better than the devs. 😂

If that were the case, this game would be a bigger mess, and Survivors would start on hooks and Killers would never be able to kill anyone.

  • @Avilgus said:

Yes, the killer is not your:

    • Escort (trying to make your game longer)
    • Clown (even if it's the Clown)
    • Babysitter (forgiving your bad plays)
    • Judge (being "nice" because someone DC or farmed you)

Also; the Killer does not have to give 'final Survivor' the hatch.

I can't count the number of games I get badmouthed for a 4K because Survivors expect charity. Yet I NEVER see Survivors give me a kill if they are going to get a 4-man escape.

It's such a double standard. Survivors expect Killers to do everything they say under BS like 'Don't play like an ass' and 'Don't tryhard', but Survivors can bring 4 meta perks each, be in an SWF, and using voice comms to full effect, and Killers just have to 'deal with it'.

  • Oh boy. Yet another 'Please prevent Killers from winning in ways I don't enjoy' thread!

And what happens once 'tunneling' is removed/punished? Then it's 'camping'! Then 'slugging!' And then it's 'Killers are toxic for chasing me!' and then 'Killers are toxic for hitting me! New players will leave because being hit is unfun! Remove Killer's ability to hit people!' followed by 'Being put up on a hook is unfun, because I can't win if I get sacrificed! For the health of the game; remove hooks!'

No. Tunneling is how Killers remove a wounded person from the game. It's no different from Survivors slamming gens, and anyone who says different does not understand what 'playing optimally' is.

Cleansing totems is not a NOED counter.

You can clean 4 out of 5 and the only totem you can't find is the one that ends up getting NOED, making it MORE difficult to get rid of than it might've been if you hadn't cleansed the totems you could find.

You can clean 5 out of 5 and then it turns out the killer didn't have NOED, meaning you wasted a ton of time to counter nothing.

You can clean 5 out of 5 totems and then it turn out the killer did have NOED, at which point it still worked about as well as Ruin or Thanatophobia.

Seriously, cleansing totems does not counter NOED.

And comparing NOED, which requires all five totems to be destroyed, to Devour Hope, which requires one totem to be destroyed, is especially nonsensical.

Even if NOED isn't a problem balance-wise, it is a problem design-wise and should be reworked to better reward totem cleansing as its counter.

I love that people keep claiming 'NoED wastes time even if it's not in a match' is proof it needs reworking.

That's what NoED is supposed to do. The same that Killers have to assume Survivors have D.Strike, or try to bait out Dead Hard without knowing if Survivors actually have it. This is why every match now has an Obsession, even if no one has Obsession perks; to hide D.Strike and other Obsession perks on both sides.

Or are only Survivors allowed delaying tactics via unknown perks?

It doesn't matter whether face camping promotes killer goal or not. Most people on this forum believe it's toxic. Ask around if you don't believe me. Gameplay that is considered toxic should be discouraged. It's that simple.

Also, if you are going to be pedantic and talk about semantics, read this on main page:

"As a Killer, your goal is to sacrifice as many Survivors as possible. As a Survivor, your goal is to escape and avoid being caught and killed."

So, survivors hiding is doing their job: avoid getting caught

But you chose to ignore that part because it doesn't fit your narrative.

What 'most people believe' does not matter. If we went with what 'most people believe' then Killers would never get a kill, because 'most people believe' Killers winning is toxic and unfun and every other buzzword Survivor mains can invent.

Back in the day, there was a time where 'most people believed' Bastion in Overwatch was 'broken' and 'unfun' and 'OP' and 'toxic' and should be removed. Does that mean he should have been removed?

Also; Survivors living is not their goal. Survivors just living is not a win state. And before EGC, Survivors hiding was a large problem where they would go full Immersive and force the Killer to quit the match. So Survivors can blame other Survivors for ruining that.

See, I took the logic out further, instead of ignoring it. Survivors hiding is not how they win; doing gens is how they win. Hiding does not complete gens.

Whereas Killers camping is how they win, because that means Survivors die. Camping kills Survivors.

    Sorry; try again.

If Dead by Daylight was free, the player count would sky-rocket. Whether most of those players stay is another question, but many people would like to get into the game as a result of their favorite streamer (No0b3 for many), but can't due to simply not having the money to spare for the game and/or an online subscription. Trust me, if DBD was free and did not require an online subscription, the current player count would easily triple.

Yeah but if it was free, the number of hackers and griefers would triple, too.

People would just be able to make new accounts each time they were banned. It's why I dropped TF2 the second it went free 2 play; my clan had about 6 TF2 servers (and more in other steam games) and the sheer number of people we had banned over the years that flooded back in once it went free 2 play was staggering.

Some of these people had been nursing their hate for YEARS. Like, they could not comprehend that we had banned them for hacking or racism or downright disgusting player sprays. 🤮 In their minds; They were not at fault, and we were evil for punishing them.

Oof. I just stopped being an admin and dropped TF2 after that. There was no point in trying to keep a clean server when people we banned would just make a new steam account, jump back in, and do it all over again.

What is a memory leak anyway? How does code, or memory "leak"

Check one of my posts further up; I pulled the wiki description of it.

I'm guessing it's called a 'leak' because it works slowly over time to slow down the game, in the same way that it could be said a leak in a boat slowly sinks it.

  • @Evilhorst said:

Is anyone else really concerned about this?

I usually am more of the side of not nerfing killer related things. Noed always has been one of the things i think should be reworked. I disagree with the "just do bones" argument as it simply consumes too much time on higher level play. It might be a different story with counterforce in the game, we will see. I still am really worried about this though. It seems really really powerful.

'I disagree with the "just do bones" argument as it simply consumes too much time on higher level play.'

Umm...That's on you and the Killer.

Either the Killer fails to protect his totems, and you cleanse them, or he protects them, and they proc.

This is, literally, how totems work. Claiming 'I don't want to do bones because they take time' is also saying 'I just want to genrush & not be punished'.

    Just. Do. Bones.

So you are saying "So effective survivor tactic nerfed, this is fair. But one of the killers tactic can not nerf, it is unfair."

But okey, maybe you are right. Killer crow can be problem. But there is still problem. SWF have info if killer is camping. And they are finishing generators faster. But solos can not know that, they have to use one perk slot for this. And i do not think this is fair. Maybe making Kindred survivor base-kit can solve this problem.

And before you ask, so many killers also need buffs.

Umm...The Survivor 'tactic' was nerfed because they were not doing their goal and were taking the game hostage (pre-endgame collapse).

Camping actually promotes the Killer's goal of killing Survivors.

If you can't see how these two are different:

Survivors Hiding = Not Doing Their Job (Which is doing gens).

Killers Camping = Doing Their Job (Of Killing).

Then you lack an understanding of basic game mechanics. No offense.

What are you talking about lol? Why survivors have crows then? Hiding is tactic too but if you stay and hide little longer, crow alerting killer. So what?

And no. This is so bad idea. But Corrupt and Tinkerer has to be killer base-kit.

Hiding is a tactic, but crows exists so Survivors can't hide forever. Which some would do (I remember old immersive builds).

My point was that, if Survivors don't get crows for doing gens, why should Killers get crows for confirming a kill (aka 'camping')?

It's more 'Punish tactics I don't like' from Survivors who want to ignore every weapon they have against camping. They pretend Camping is some ungodly super-tactic that no one can beat that gives Killers 5000 kills per match and uninstalls Survivor's games and MAKES THEM walk towards a camping Killer, so they can scream for it to be 'removed' or 'punished' or 'nerfed'.

No. Camping does not need some stupid punishment. It's not a flaw or exploit or 'unfair tactic'.

How about Survivors who camp on a gen for too long get crows? What's that? 'Survivors are progressing their goal'? So. Are. Killers.

... but camping isnt a gamedesign flaw?

its a strategy the Killer can use to try and win. and its only natural for Survivors to have perks against that.

we have the same with Slugging and Tunneling aswell.

Also; this. It's not a flaw, it's an actual, real tactic. Just because Survivors refuse to admit:

    1. They can play around it. (Wriggle on the hook to say 'The Killer is here!')
    2. They reward it when they can simply do gens.
    3. There's perks to counter it.

Does not mean it's some flawed design that needs punishing, reworking, removing, or anything else.

  • @AVoiceOfReason said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2332060#Comment_2332060

So you waste more time going to the hook to realize that the killer is face camping someone. Again, this is just proving my point. Don't have enough time to do totems and gens if someone is being camped.

I did not prove your point. You keep saying I did because...reasons? Like, your 'gatchya!' is so vague.

If the Killer is camping (120 seconds for stage 1 & 2, add another 70 seconds for finding someone, the chase, 2 hits, pickup, & hook; so 190 seconds), 3 Survivors can do all 5 gens AND hunt for totems.

Plus, THE KILELR CANNOT CAMP A SURVIVOR AND STOP YOU FROM DOING GENS no matter how much you pretend he magically can.

Just because you keep saying 'I'm Right!' does not mean you're right. The numbers prove you flat wrong.

But Survivors keep walking towards a camping Killer while thinking 'I deserve this unhook because I want it REALLY BAD!' then screaming 'CAMPING OP!' because they walked towards the giant person who wants to find & hit them.

NoED is fine. It does not 'reward failure' because the Killer HAS NOT FAILED UNTIL YOU ESCAPE. This arbitrary '5 gens = Killer failed' metric is utter bunk made up to push for NoED nerfs. It's a lie. A flat lie.

And if the Killer is camping; you can EASILY find NoED and cleanse it, because he's giving you nearly 3 minutes to do so.

The perk is not OP just because Survivors are lazy.

  • No. And let me point out why:

D.Strike stuns the killer for 5 seconds. At the moment, that's 20 seconds of stun if everyone brings it. In matches that can last around 5-6 minutes (Or 300-360 seconds).

Double that to 40 if everyone has it twice and oof!

Not to mention Killers will just slug once they eat the first D.Strike.

  • Your '80 seconds' is:

    1. Solo (no teammates helping
    2. Without items or perks helping you in any way
    3. Not counting Great skillchecks

So it's small wonder Gens pop so fast; Survivors can clear them in 47 seconds with 2 people, or 38 if all 3 are working on a gen while a Survivor is chased.

Hell; by the time a Survivor is chased & hooked, 3 Survivors can pop 2 gens if they stick together.

Though they can just as easily pop 3 gens if they split up, since an 80 second gen (not counting items or skillchecks or perks) is STILL easily within the realm of 'done' in a Killer's first chase.

  • And what does raising your ping do? Give you an unfair advantage.

What does voice comms do? Give you an unfair advantage.

Both give an unfair advantage via a third party program. That was my point. :P

You need to figure out if it's just not clearing the memory as needed, or if something is writing to memory and then not being unloaded (perhaps loading pallets in one map, then not clearing them before loading a new map.)

It really boils down to WHAT and WHERE, and the larger the game, the harder it can be to find. I've had a friend write Python 3 for me with small errors for me to find, and even when it's something as simple as a letter-replacement program (IE: You press 'A' and then enter, and it returns 'Q'), the bugs or typos can be hard to find, nested in the code.

Trying to find a memory leak in a 3D game, which has to call objects such as rocks, trees, crows, pallets, walls, etc. AND their hitboxes, plus characters & killers, and their animations...I don't envy BHVR trying to work through this!

I wish I took a picture but for some reason Xbox removes error messages after a set amount of time, but I got an error stating I was "out of video memory" I believe before it booted me out of Dbd

That does make it sound like a memory leak.

    I have a few questions.

    1. What is a memory leak and what causes it?

    And

    2. How does something like the memory of the game effect something like FPS? They don't seem to be related to each other.

In computer science, a memory leak is a type of resource leak that occurs when a computer program incorrectly manages memory allocations in a way that memory which is no longer needed is not released. A memory leak may also happen when an object is stored in memory but cannot be accessed by the running code. A memory leak has symptoms similar to a number of other problems and generally can only be diagnosed by a programmer with access to the programs' source code.

A space leak occurs when a computer program uses more memory than necessary. In contrast to memory leaks, where the leaked memory is never released, the memory consumed by a space leak is released, but later than expected.

Because they can exhaust available system memory as an application runs, memory leaks are often the cause of or a contributing factor to software aging.

A memory leak reduces the performance of the computer by reducing the amount of available memory. Eventually, in the worst case, too much of the available memory may become allocated and all or part of the system or device stops working correctly, the application fails, or the system slows down vastly due to thrashing.

  • Yes but memory leaks usually cause slowdowns over time. IE: The longer you play, the worse the slowdown gets, as code is writing to/from the memory in a way that starts overloading the CPU or GPU.

For in-game advantage. Probably got dunked on the previous round and decided to use an exploit to win.

Just gonna say; if using a VPN to gain an advantage is an exploit, so is using Discord. :)

This is not directed at you, but it's relevant to what you said, hence the quote.

But I'm not a juggler! Hence why the network is so unstable!!!

...if I learn to juggle, maybe it'll fix the servers!

    BRB

Can I have your stuff? I mean, if the chainsaws come down the wrong way. Or if someone greases the unicycle...

  • The way I see it, moris should activate when you're HOLDING a survivor on Death Hook.

This gives the time for DS to proc, or for flashlight/pallet saves. But you only have that small window (like you do now when trying to save someone being carried); miss, and the Killer can mori.

All you'd need to do is add an animation for the killer throwing their victims to the ground, then have it play from there as normal.

  • Because there's a major crashing problem with consoles at the moment, from what I understand.

Not when devour hope is in play usually. Keep in mind that tensions often get very high in this game. Throwing a mori on someone can just make the emotional tensions worse sometimes. I know some survivors don't care but I've never liked the idea of moris in this game. They usually happen to me after I've been tunneled down anyway.

Honestly, ALL mori animations should only be useable after a Survivor is in Second Stage. I mean, the next hook will kill you ANYWAYS, so you're dead either way.

Change them so you have to pick a Survivor up to trigger a mori (thus allowing fast flashlight/pallet saves), too.

Because if the Killer has picked you up, and your friends cannot flashlight/pallet save, and you're on final hook; you're dead either way.

When and if that happens, survivors should have a way to block the use of them through offerings. I've never liked moris and just see them as a means for killers to be mean or toxic to survivors. I guess I'll try to enjoy the RE chapter while I can because that change is not something I think I'll want to be a part of.

Really? it's a glorified 3rd hook. How is it 'toxic' to do a neat kill animation?

I swear; half the stuff this community (on both sides!) lists as 'Toxic' boils down to 'It makes me feel bad! :( '

  • I tend to kill anyone not sparkling (or who is wearing the crown). If you find the crown; I won't kill you.

But you only have until 2 gens pop before I will start trying harder, because the last time I played nice; the Survivors thought they were being skilled and decided to deride me in the end game chat.

'Noob baby lost me mid-chase!' No, I literally turned around and walked away because you were running towards the crown's area, and I wanted to give you the crown. I turned around when I was 2 feet behind you. You did not juke me. I would have had to go blind to lose you legit.

'Scrub can't kill!' No, you had sparkles, and I did not want to take that away from you. So I smacked you, but never hooked you, on the off-chance that your team would not save you.

So yeah; I'll be nice, to a point. But whenever you see a Killer 'tryharding' 'sweating' and 'being mean'; don't forget to give half the blame to your fellow Survivors. It's 50/50 on if they are trying to make you unhappy, or if they had the altruism crushed out of them by toxic Survivors and just play the game to win now.

  • It's almost like people run the Most Effective Tactics Available...Wait a moment... M.E.T.A.

Kinda funny how I see so many more Survivors claiming Killers should 'play for fun' and 'stop being jerks' by a wide mile over Killers asking Survivors to stop playing META. 🤷

  • I don't think PTB can come to consoles. The point of the PTB is to make fast changes, but on consoles, every change has to be approved and pushed by the parent company (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo).

I also believe those changes cost the game developer's money to do. Which is why changes come to most console games in large pushes; it's much cheaper.

Also, saying 'I don't have this, so no one should get it' is kind of silly.

  • Honestly, make mutation rate like Freddy's sleep; it slowly ticks up. After all, the T-Virus can be airborne.

This way, Nemmy does not have to give Survivors a free Sprint Burst to infect them. Because that is the major weakness of his kit; he extends chases so massively for 0 gain, in a current meta where a Killer chasing a Survivor for just 15 seconds too long can cost them the game.

I know the lore and those buildings there dont look good at all when there are no streets. And they cant make streets because it would be just a waste of time when the players cant even interact with them.It will look better if there was just empty space outside the fences.

It's not supposed to look better, but perhaps surreal. Which it does.

  • You do realize it's actually covered in the lore?

The Entity makes slices of the 'real world' (or worlds, plural) explicitly for the trials. Why would it make miles of crap no Survivor can get too?

It makes small arenas, blocks them off so Survivors have to power the gates, and then eats their hope. For all we know, this is deliberate for that aesthetic (and it helps cut down on load times by not having 'thick fog' or tons of out of bounds crud to load in)

  • Why? Because people get tricked, the trick should be removed?

Ok; Remove Trapper's traps, because people step in them! It's so unfair that we can't see them around corners or in tall grass! It's all mindgames on where he places them! If you guess wrong, he can just pick you up, even if you're Healthy!

And remove Hag's traps! They are nearly impossible to see! It's also a mindgame, and it means we have to waste time crouch-walking! AND she can teleport to them! Her kit is so OP and overloaded!

(And before people say I'm off topic; I'm using the exact same excuses they use to want Spirit nerfed.)

  • I love how the Trickster laughs and talks to himself. It makes him feel more like the human he is.

Everyone else is supernatural in some way, but the Trickster is just a dude with a bat and throwing knives. He's not mute like 99% of the Killer roster (I think the Huntress is the only other Killer who makes any 'human' noises that are not breathing).

I love listening to him chuckle and talk to himself.

I honestly feel like Wraith shouldn't get a speed boost after using his power. I've been trying to play safe against Wraiths, it works well but if The Wraith has shadow dance it completely backfires.

It makes me feel like a mad man typing this aloud but I think Wraith is becoming a lite version of Spirit. I get to a pallet against a shadow dance Wraith that's still cloaked and I just can't do anything without giving him a time advantage.

    • Play safe

Pallet gets shadow danced, Wraith uses his cloaked and uncloaking MS bonuses to get a hit faster than I can find safety.

    • Loop the pallet

The Wraith stands under the pallet and uncloaks using his MS bonus to wrap around the loop, because I tried to loop the pallet I'm on the opposite side of the loop and I can't punish him for walking into the pallet.

Am I ill? Have I been playing survivor to much? Am I becoming one of those people? Help.

Wraith needs the lunge or his power is useless. Imagine Survivors sprint away while he decloaks, and he has no lunge; With the slowdown on decloaking, Survivors are now 20 yards ahead by the time Wraith has normal movement speed again.

No lunge = useless power. You lose ALL of the distance you gained by sneaking up, when you decloak. And that's without possible Sprint Burst, Lithe, or Balanced Landing giving the Survivors more speed.

  • @TicTac said:

Your game doesnt freeze 3 seconds or more in the grab animation and they get a free unhook? A hit is atleast something.

This. Before the change, I'd basically freeze in place, and Survivors CAN easily bait it out during an unhook. Just start, then release, then start again; Boom, Killer locked in place, you get the unhook, you're not hit.

Now, at least, you will get smacked on the butt for being cheeky enough to try this 'tech'.

Good lord I don't think I ever said it was unfair, I could honestly care less about twins as almost every single one plays the same what I am saying is that it isn't fun to face a killer like twins

hoping for a killer to make a mistake is far from good game design

Hoping for the opponent to make a mistake in ANY PvP game is the BEST design.

It means the players have agency, instead of being forced into anything to give the other side a fair chance. No one would want to play a game where the game has to force you into screwing up so the other side has a chance; they would feel cheated out of wins when it happens.

  • It's not. The game can end when everyone bleeds out. What anyone thinks about it is beside the point, since the rules clearly state it's not taking the game hostage.

Sorry, that was unclear. The time for Laceration to START decaying is 10 seconds, this will not change. Running just makes the individual charges deplete faster. They also buffed the same for walking, if I read it correctly.

Oh, so it takes 10 seconds to star no matter what (barring any addons the Killer may have) but then sprinting makes the hits go away quicker?

I guess that makes a bit of sense; sprinting leaves scratch marks, so sprinting to get rid of your Laceration Charges is a double-edged sword.
