What happens if you escape via the hatch when the teammates left by the gates?

    Your mmr wont be raised.

But teammates usually leaving the very last second....

    So only after hatch spawns

I´m not sure how the devs would fix bad teammates.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2921088#Comment_2921088

Because bad teammates seem to be the main issue here.

The harder to play survivors less players will be skilled enough for the role.....

  • Hatch escape shouldnt increase mmr, survivor failed to perform, so its just a second chance to not lose completely

I agree that there's a lot more anti-loop killers. Although, they can be countered somewhat by the hold w playstyle. Not particularly engaging but it is something. The reworked maps seldom become killer sided so I don't really know what you mean. Badham is still incredibly survivor sided, the game has even more pallets then it did before and they're all safe etc. COH isn't really gutted. It's a good deal weaker but it was completely broken on-release so the nerfs were pretty necessary. Solo is manageable as long as your teammates are reasonably competent. That isn't always the case but that's kind of a matchmaking issue really.

But thats the thing, stronger killers meaning you are more dependent on your teammates, and ultimately more skill needed for survivors, that means less of playerbase. Always happens in this genre, so devs should be careful, I foresee even bigger loss of playerbase.

Just for the record sbmm is why I am still playing, match making was a disaster before. People seem to forget the corner crouching claudettes, and urban evasion everywhere. Now you "level" passed those players and never see them again. The MMR is amazing, sure I die half of my matches, but, that is what is supposed to happen when I play people my skill level.

Exactly, before you was forced to play in SWF

Deerstalker and Knock Out joins the chat

I saw quite few player claiming that bleeding out is free kills, and cant increase mmr, which is untrue btw.

  • Power Creep, most of the new killers are antiloop(except sadako), and new killer perks are very strong metas usually, not to mention that maps getting reworked to be killer favored, reworking killers to be stronger, but worst will be the severe healing nerf. Also the key and hatch nerf, you are now on killer mercy when comes to escaping.

Survivors receiving nothing, CoH was good but getting gutted, for solo already was close to worthless.

If you make solo very hard to play most of the playerbase will be lost.

Just watch out for the new update.

That's fair, but I kinda doubt the game would be as successful as it is if the Survivors were all just helpless. In a sense though, Survivors are still weaker then the killer, at least individually. DBD is probably the only asymmetrical horror game where Survivors can't fight back, at least not directly. They can delay the Killer via pallets and perks, but can never actually stop the Killer. Lore wise, the Killer still is the power role and on the 1v1 level, that remains true in-game. It only becomes less like that when you account for the 4v1, but again, if the Killer was too powerful in the 4v1 and 1v1 then the game probably wouldn't have had the longevity it currently has.

    Yeah you are right.

Very strong killers = less playerbase.

Weaker killers = huge playerbase (dbd)

Now with recent survivors nerfs the game losing popularity, if killers getting more buffs, the game will even more players, luckily dbd has licenses and also killers in this game still not that strong, but they are getting there.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I think in any asymmetrical game, the role with fewer players is going to be more stressful because it's on them to "make" the game and be the driving force of the match.

Strength in numbers gives people a sense of sharing the burden and/or having fun together. The killer is alone, and usually at the end of a match they're insulted for playing the role of killer. For survivors, the feeling of failure is lessened by being shared. For killers, the loss is more personal as it's all on them.

Balance changes wouldn't solve this. Taking the pressure off killer and making it more fun would require either somehow making killer a multi-person thing or creating a new game mode with a totally different ruleset. We as players can try to make the game less stressful by not taking the role seriously, which isn't a good solution but it's just about the only one available to us.

    in short 4 vs 1.

The 1 always more stressful role, even if balanced towards the 1

    Blight (yes, I said it).

For sure Blight has 115% speed, if you really want you can play him as a m1 killer with insane map mobility, his addons also the very best in the whole game. After a dozen hour or so you can play him very well.

Compare it to Nurse which requires insane amount of practice to do well, mechanically so extremely hard only 5% will ever learn her, you are punished for every missed blink, and speed is decreased.

Compare to it Blight and Blight absolutely braindead

  • @coaltrain503 said:

Everywhere I look at people talking about playing killer in dbd, they are always talking about how stressful the role is to play. Survivor que times are long, because there are far more people playing survivor than there are playing killer. I, too, can't really bring myself to play killer anymore, on account of it being far too stressful. I have more fun playing survivor, or any other game, really. With all the people talking about how stressful and unfun it is to play half of their damn game, you would think bhvr would do something about it. Many other devs would. So BHVR, are you going to do anything to make 50% of your game be more appealing and not so stressful for a large amount of your players?

Even if the game was perfectly balanced vs 4 SWF, the killer would be still much more stressful. You are going against 4 players alone.

There is no way around it, you will be the one to pressured, I never played a game in this genre where killer wasnt the more stressful role, you cant waste a second, its not a role for casuals, arguably dbd is the worst case, where if you are going against full of SWF you are gonna have a really bad time, doesnt matter though, its the nature of this genre

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/320365/what-was-wrong-with-grades-as-mmr

Nothing. Sure it wasnt perfect and needed tweaks but it was a better system overall and it only started to massively fail when they reduced to reset as all plays slowly increased to higher grades.

The old grades would of been perfect, all they had to do was remove resets, remove the safety pip and it would of been in a great spot (if need be they could adjust how hard it was to get certain emblems)

A player like me who pips every game would be at the top, while a player who would normally safety pip a few times before a pip would be much lower down as the safety pip is removed. This creates the win/loss system which would make players remain in a set bracket and not slowly increase because they can easily safety pip multiple times in a row before getting a pip

Everyone was in red ranks, as a newbie I made into red after 2 weeks.

Thats why was so good for killer mains and miserable for solo survivor

BHVR only releases numbers when it benefits them.

If the decline in player base is majorly due to cheaters then cheating is rampant in this game. Either way, the outlook is terrible.

They are definitely still useful. All too often I find myself as the last survivor alive and keys are way more reliable than camping a door with wake up.

Solo Q teams fall apart pretty easily and it's very nice to have a plan B with left behind.

    Medkit is lot better.

Also I dodge any survivor with key, in my xp those want you dead so they can escape, usually sandbagging or just hiding doing nothing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/320336/i-believe-that-dbd-would-be-a-better-game-if-you-could-have-an-option-not-to-play-against-swf

If given the option, no killer including me would willingly go against any SWF. I know this, but queue times for more than half of the survs would skyrocket badly, if they ever actually get a match, which I doubt. This is not the way to deal with SWF.

Over the past several months the devs have been bit by bit giving solos more info and coordination options to approach SWF level, being careful to not strengthen SWF at the same time. The intent is to make it eventually not matter if survs are solo or not, and property buff killers around that new reality.

Whether this is possible, and how to get there, we've all been debating for going on 6 years.

In other games where balance around SWF and solo has comms, almost noone plays as solo, since killers are too strong for that, and everyone in SWF groups, and killer still miserable

Because solo wont use the tools no matter what

  • DbD would die, and other asymmetrical game would take its place where you can play with your friends

  • The optimal way to play is rush hooks, do a gen with 3 teammate, and drop pallets on killer, then leave your team to die, because doing gen wont get you any point anyway. Then escape with hatch. this all

  • Its to please killer mains, in dbd doing your objective as survivor you get no points.

Instead hold shift+W drop pallets, and do unhooks, EASY, 20k points.

  • @Icaurs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2917895#Comment_2917895

That's actually a valid point, part of what makes killer inherently more stressful the survivor, is due to the Asymmetric aspect of DBD. Regardless of the match outcome is how the major events in a match turns out, killer will always be under more stress. Imagine there around 10 or so major events in a match, that could result in either side gaining a significant event. Perhaps one survivor hooked, and if he can just down this one survivor nearby he can capitalize on it. These sorts of events happen every game. The difference is generally out of these 10, it will only affect 1-2 survivors per event, at the end each survivor may only encounter 4-5 of these events per a match. However the killer is involved in all 10 of them. The killer will always be under more stress, even if the game was perfectly balanced.

Exactly I play quite few asymmetric game, and let me tell you, even the game which balanced around survivors using comms, playing as killer still way more stressful, hell the game even balanced in favor of the killer , yet playing against a group on comms still way less stressful.

As solo you lose, so noone plays solo, only in groups.

Thats why any change in dbd just would result more player in swf, even if perfect balance, killer will be always more stressful, nothing can change that

  • Overcome is bad, instadown killers hard countering it, and also you need to be healthy to use it, and when you are unhooked you without your perk....

Overcome is at the same level with balanced landing, just too situational and weak

  • Balanced Landing is too situational to be taken on trials.

Worst exhaustion perk along with overcome(insta down counters it,as well as when you unhooked cant be used)

  • She is lot more common than Twins or Oni

  • @The_Krapper said:

Every time I survive it's without dead hard because I never use that perk, I prefer sprint burst, Lithe , or balanced landing over dead hard any day of the week, I think sprint burst is stronger than dead hard when used correctly, I get way more distance and I can use it mid chase without being injured, after dead hard I think that will be the next perk to fill up the forums with "plz nerf" threads.

I red that smash hit and overcome the acceptable power level for survivor exhaustion perks

You can attempt to mindgame it like that, but even if you do - it's still a powerful early warning system against killers who rely on sneaky approaches.

I know that even as a beginner survivor, it's strong. If I see it light up and then go dark and nobody else is being chased, I know to be on my guard - even in this scenario it's basically Whispers that also gives me a pretty powerful speed boost, with zero cooldown, at times when I need it the most.

Then add on the fact that it blind counters Myers (against savvy survivors, you can find yourself stuck in T1 for ages), at the very least soft counters a bunch of other killers...any perk that requires you to play as if it were present even if it's not probably suggests that this perk might be on the OP side.

It would still be amazing even if it didn't function when a killer was undetectable.

    I would never use it.

I guess just like keys after the nerf, according to this forum still amazing with aura reading, yet I played 500+ games and saw a key once

  • There are daily topics about SC to be nerfed

Circle of Healing cannot be balanced in its current state because it's too efficient for one perk slot to provide self healing to the whole team.

The issue isn't the Boon mechanic. All the other Boons are balanced or underpowered. In fact, I think that boons could have their range increased back to 28 meters once COH is taken care of.

Circle of Healing should have self healing removed, boost healing speeds by 100% and increase the efficiency of medkits by 50%. Strong and worth the perk slot but not crazy.

Would you bring that perk as solo survivor?

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2916661#Comment_2916661

I think "weak" is subjective. Sure myers and ghostface may be "weak" vs the top 10% of the survivor players. But they may be decent vs the bottom 90% of survivors. The point of the perks is to tell you if a undetectable killers are coming towards you. We can already hear the heart beat at 32 meters for most killers, or at 24, or 16 with M&A. If the perk were to become useless against the undetectable killers it would be worthless to run it at that point. And honestly the way I look at spine chill to me. It's essentially a casual perk, I use it when I play solo since I like to tune out and listen to things in the background. So I can listen to a video, or when I'm hearing the T.V. If spine chill where to get nerfed I would play way less. I would only play with my friends, it's not that fun to sit and do a gen I like to enjoy listening to my podcast. The perk can be countered, and I lost to myers and ghostface in the past despite running spine chill, it's not OP. You can actually use spine chill against survivors believe it or not.

To be honest I would stop playing solo survivor at that point.

When I am in 4 SWF I dont need Spine Chill because at comms I get all the information I need about where is the killer, not so in solo, the way I see it Spine Chill almost a must have to survive in solo.

And I am the same I dont want to be jumpscared or pay extreme amount of attention, just want to play casually, destroyed by stealth killers in solo, I would just abandon solo

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

There is nothing people don't want nerfed in this game lmao. Like a turning one of the decent perks into a useless perk. It's not OP, it can be countered. Would you guys rather see more spine chills or DH/BT, since that's the perks I see you guys always complaining about. If anything you guys should put more energy into asking for weak/useless perks to be BUFFED instead of nerfing decent perks.

They want to see flip-flop or power struggle level perks on survivors.

    Anything that is useless.

  • That would make any stealth killer overpowered.

And Spine Chill would be useless

  • @Marc_123 said:

The simple truth is, this is a team game. If you team is completely down - you lost the game.

You can bring perks to help you.

If you didn´t bring perks to help you in this situation - where your whole team is down - you lost the game.

Just play the next game (it always sounds there is no next) - and maybe consider bringing a perk that can help you in that case.

I really don´t see any reason to complain about that other than complain about the game itself.

Its a solo game, its only team game if you play in SWF.

Focusing on SWF its sure way to kill the game, in dbd clones the games focusing on team aspect and noone of them popular

So youre one out of thousand that has a logical mindset. Sadly this forum is just about unrealistical mindsets as killer player.

As survivor you get instant lobbies in EU at nearly all times. Just towards late times it goes up to some minutes, which still isnt that much at all. So the numbers are pretty fine. The game itself is attractive enough for killers. Its just that its solo game play, while surviors is also koop. Thats all the difference is about.

Yeah I found it very strange that lot of players writing about insane queues for survivors.

On EU almost all day, survivor is instant. The only time I have to wait 3 minutes is at night. But for a killer game its not uncommon to wait for 10 minutes a game, yeah night is instant. But if anything after the killer buff, imagine trying to play killer during daytime

  • @sulaiman said:

Hmm, the only one of them i run in my builds is actually iron will, but thats mainly because i like to juke killers and lose them instead of just extending chases.

However, those perks are used because most killers use the same strategys, like camping, tunneling and slugging. 2 of the top 3 perks affect those situations, with the top perk being able to help with camping and tunneling through helping to extend chases. But there only a few other perks to affect this situations, and could even be detrimental to the user, like no mither. So i am not astonished at all that the top used perks are adressing issues with 90% of the killers.

Exactly as long as the game designed the way it is, you are forced to run certain perks as survivor, if you dont want to instantly lose against a good killer

I don't even know how you stick to survivor. I play one trial and then I'm done.

For the complaints, I think it's a mindset issue that affects both roles tbf. How many times do we see a thread pop up where someone tells the world how awful of a game they had and they post a screenshot of a 4k as proof? "Oh but I didn't have fun because I had to sweat". I guess some people won't ever be content unless they win 100% while eating their dinner.

This game has lot of casual playerbase, they want to killer to be just as casual than being survivor.

However they dont understand its impossible, even if killers made to be equal to 4 people in SWF power, it would be still sweaty for them just because facing for 4 is always harder than one. It takes more effort.

Also buffing killer to that extent would kill dbd, casuals would leave

Killers have many gen regression perks, so you don’t see always the same perks. But survs have 1 anti tunnel perk, 1 anti camp perk, 1 anti slug perk and only 2 good exhaustion perks. What do you expect?

They think after nerfing Dead Hard to ground, survivors will waste perk slot to run Smash Hit or Balanced Landing....

Most survivor perk might as well not exist in solo play, so niche and only works 1 out 10+ games

But of course this is the forum where keys still considered borderline overpowered items by killer mains

  • @adalesmo said:

I just had a solo game where a very mediocre Huntress slugged a guy (who just crouched near the hook and let me get to second stage, then refused to heal me). I walked around, avoiding AFK crows, and then she picks him up, lets him wiggle free, and he runs up to where he saw my aura, sandbagging me. Of course, I reported him for working with the killer (and nothing will be done about it), but it blows my mind that after almost 6 years, this is still a thing. The devs will do extensive work for QoL changes like this for killers, like with end-game collapse, but are still completely fine letting solo survivor players get screwed over. Even the coming "solo survivor buff" changes are unlikely to improve QoL for what's pretty easily the weakest role in the game, solo survivor.

How is this still a thing, especially when MMR judges you as an individual?

Try to hide, killer mains play to 4K all the time and love to bully solo survivors.

Devs will remove healing next update in solo will take forever to heal.

The solution is to stop playing, or only play in 4 SWF and destroy killer mains

Going forward this game balanced around SWF

Solo survivors have no place in the game anymore

Killer mains telling me now that keys are balanced, and still very powerful due to aura reading addons , so yeah they are clueless.

Medkit the only worthwhile item to bring as survivor, anything else is total waste of bloodpoints

But killer mains working to delete healing from the game, like next update, can take a minute heal from injury.

Unviable means 90% of the roster is unplayable which is not true. The entire roster is playable and can get plenty of 4ks because of the MMR system.

No matter what you do to Demogorgon, you can never get Demogorgon to the Nurses level of play without losing Demogorgons essence, it's not doable. And who would you play against if all the Killers are as broken as Nurse and Blight. Between 68% to 95% of players cannot play against Killers that broken.

You would literally never find a match if all the killers where that stupidly overpowered.

Yeah 66-90% of the survivor playerbase would leave the game or switch to become a killer main.

DbD got one thing right in the genre, solo is somewhat viable way to play.

DbD clones tend to assume everyone on the comms, so since solo play is unviable in those games, never get popular and die a months/year later
