  • Could the algorithm handle that? Real talk.

  • I've been in this spot, except the killer was rank 15 and I was rank 8. I'm still getting rank 16-20 killers as a red rank when playing with swf (the farthest from me being either 11 or 15). I would love for the matchmaking to be looked at. I don't want to bully babies. :O

I should apologize to you and Visionmaker, I'm sorry if this seems one-sided but no I am against any abuse. I won't use Wake up to speed myself up because I don't feel "accomplished," winning if such a thing can happen in a game. Likewise I never used the Legion addons (not even one even though the bug was stacking) while bugged despite the fact that I used them a lot when I did play Legion normally.

I also accept, though you didn't have to give me one. I just wanted you to know that it felt one-sided whether you intended to be or not. You were still civil to me, which is all I want in an argument. Sometimes we just need someone to call us out on our BS (whether intended or not), especially when we get heated. 😋

I really don't understand why the developers refuse to disable the problem perks/add-ons until they are fixed. Someone explain this to me.

Listen, I am ONBOARD with this perk being disabled or bans being given out too if it's ruining survivor games. I play both sides so I just want fair and fun.

Sorry. You just seem more interested in Wake-up than the other problems that are just as debilitating.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Thanat SOMETIMES makes skill check not appear, again 15% permanent bonus you just need be enjoying the heck out of Wake up right now

As someone hit with the thana bug as survivor, it's pretty much ruining the game for me. It also only seems to happen to me among my friends (they even spectated and saw the bars when I couldn't). I literally had to either hide out or get chased (none of us use Wake-up so no experience there). I couldn't do anything since every fail alerted the killer along with losing progression. It was quite miserable.

  • Has anyone else had every prompt go invisible? I don't remember if the killer was running thana but it happened a few times. I had a friend spectate me when they died and they could see the prompts.

  • @NoShinyPony Okay mom.

Pig/Plague additions: Say you have your new variable along with this. You are limiting the spawns for both. Placements will have less rng because there will be less spots. Makes them easier to find (if there’s no aura to your addition like totems). Add a perk to help you find them. This adds a small amount of time. Spawn placements are easy to figure out. More perks will be needed to delay this since it isn’t an add-on addition. And then we get problems with hooks being close again. I still see this. It’s poor map design. These offerings shouldn’t exist. Sorry devs. Didn’t participate in the Halloween event so I cannot speak for it. Your addition would have to compete with the spots these already have. Less rng, less time added.

Point 2: Does Spirit, Billy, nurse shorten loops? If yes, is it a significant amount of time? I’m not saying to overly buff. We have these three and people still loop. Nurse isn’t really a loop but it’s fun to mind game against her because it isn’t the traditional looping. They are already lessening safe pallets. This in theory should shorten looping and chase time. But I still have to actually see it. On the subjective point of fun, not everyone does. In fact, it seems to frustrate people more often than not. Yes, a chase can be thrilling, but it’s just as likely to be anger-inducing. I find fun in the team part of this game. It can be played as team-oriented. I choose that style. Doing what I can to help others survive, yet I loathe chasing. Even when I play as killer it is boring until the kill. I had to take breaks and play other games if I wanted guaranteed fun. I only find fun in swfs. I only have fun with messing around as killer. Not everyone enjoys it. It just happens to be the most enjoyable thing the game can offer for enough people. So we deal with it or move on.

point 3: I would love for them to just shut everything down and prioritize fixing what they already have. That would be my ideal. It doesn’t have to take long. Adding this second thing would mean more components to fix later. In this regard, I am looking at the long-term. You will get your influx but you will lose people.

  • @Tsulan said:

@weirdkid5 to each one his own fetish...

You better not be kink shaming them. 😠

  • So your example. You are asking to add something permenant to the map. Something that adds another mechanic to the game. It will be an interactive object on all maps. The map rng will have to generate that x number of whatever within certain placements that’s x distance away from both gens and the other version of said object. This may also need gen placement spawns to also change and be more wonky than before (look at pallet spawns as an example for that).

Now take a look at the map themselves. Some of them are already too cluttered to manage this unless other parts of the map were changed. I’m not sure how big this new variable will be, but it will affect the placement of other things. This may even break the map itself and force other rng things to bug. Adding anything like this falls under the the category of map design as you are adding variables to the set design already in place. Adding something isn’t as easy you make it seem. Especially since each new patch brings new and old bugs back to the game.

I honestly don’t care either way, so please don’t assume I support something because I play devil’s advocate and try to point out things from both sides that aren’t mentioned. My opinion is that the two things you suggested earlier aren’t mutually exclusive and both can possibly be implemented and have the possibility to not kill the game, but I would be happy with either. I’m always down for testing out ideas and tweaking so you can see if something actually works or not.

@Pike_Trickfoot The issue of this thread is: Currently, killers don't have enough time to get their objective done - do we need a 2nd objective for survs?

If you don't shorten chases, then the survivors have to do more than repairing 5 gens.

If you keep chases the same length AND don't give the survivors more work to do, then nothing will change for the killer.

This is not a thread about map design.

And I made a suggestion on how to fix the problem. Something which you had brought up previously yourself. I’m getting the feeling you disregarded what I said. Just think about it for a moment. Map design is a huge factor to why killers cannot pressure. Even grootdude and others brought this up earlier. A second objective will change map design. It literally falls back to map design. All of these mechanics revolve around how the map is.

  • @NoShinyPony I get what you’re saying, but something doesn’t quite sit well. I’m still trying to think of why. Maybe because if you changed both the maps and the killers, it doesn’t have to shorten chases? Especially since there are other factors like perks/additions can be made to help survivors/etc.... Like shorter chases can get compensation elsewhere within the game. I’m just putting stuff out there, not sure if it’s actually what I mean to explain.

  • @GrootDude said:

How do y’all even make R1 survivor? I keep Just safety pipping even if I save people, do gens, avoid the killer and get chased.😂

    I’m just that unlucky.

  • You know your friends hate you when they try to get you to R1 after knowing the pain of being there. The person closest to my rank is a rank 8. I started at the same rank as the rest of them. -_- And I play like an idiot to not rank up but here I am as well in red again.....

  • @GrootDude said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538806#Comment_538806

But if low ranks aren’t having fun then they’ll quit. The game has to be balanced for everyone some how.

The game is too basic to develop a balance. That's why the devs focus towards the noobs. Larger population. Easier to nerf everything down. Skilled players suffer the consequence of this, because you would have to break the game into something new to even the playing field between both. You have to separate or it's just a give and take.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538686#Comment_538686

@GrootDude Okay, then we have different preferences. You'd like to see shorter chases, I don't.

I think that chases are that part of the game which is the most fun for the majority of players: The interaction between killer and survivor, mindgames, finding a good looping route etc.

Also, I think that the chases are what makes DbD so popular and successful, compared to other asymmetrical horror games.

If you'd shorten chases, I'm pretty sure this game would lose a significant amount of players.

Sorry for the lurk. Just that I have a bugging question. Why does the two points you made have to be either this or that? (I don't mean to intrude :O)

  • @GrootDude said:

@Kebek I’d say buff them to spirit and hag level, billy has a low skill cap so we need more high skill cap top tier killers. Doing this could actually eliminate the need of a second objective.

Literally just this. If they just fixed what they already have, it would already be better. I'm not even going to go into asking for a second objective until the game as it is gets fixed. Though I have found these conversations intriguing to read.

  • Oh yes. Let's add another mechanic while previous ones are still bugged. I would be fine with a locker-power killer if other things got focused on first.

The camera shake on successful hit is good, keep it

Additional audio-visual feedback is almost always good

Only if it's toggle-able. Audio things are fine, but the visuals can cause a problem.

  • He needs some tweaks like everyone who isn't top-tier. Definitely not OP. Pretty counter-able.

  • Play nurse. xD

There's probably never going to be one perfect perk, especially since they claim to be nerfing loops. It would also be "too OP" if something was introduced and make all hell break loose on the forums.

  • People tend to misinterpret that text anyways. The full rule list isn't readily available (though I have doubts that people would read it).

"I lose = you must be cheating" is a common mentality in online games. Better to shovel off the blame to the other person than myself because I'm too good and perfect for it to have been me. This is an over-exaggeration, but you get my point.

  • Does it also cramp anyone else's fingers? Or is that just a me thing? :O

My friend refuses to touch gens because getting chased is more fun (even though he fails at it). Then he complains about not pipping when I do. xD I'm usually the only one who braves through the pain, especially if there's ruin. So RIP my fingers.

I think it is fine if hooked survivors break the stealth IF the killer is in front of the hook and the survivors face. If the killer is out of about a 90 to 120 degree cone in front of the hook. Hooked survivors should not be able to break GF stealth.

That might be too precise with how the camera is, especially since they're still working on how detection works as is. Until they squash out the bugs, it might not be feasible.

  • @Outland said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538209#Comment_538209

Thats not entirely correct my friend, Survivors use the "we only have gens to do, what else are we supposed to do" to defend their gen rushing.

The answer is get the totems and deny any NOED.

It's both sides advocating for it. Survivors are bored because of holding m1 even when rushing the game. Killers want more time to do their job. It's a win-win situation to add something else as both sides will benefit.

  • The spawn is probably the compensation for survivors getting the cracker-things. Killers only get the cakes. And you know, the cake affects everyone so someone besides the killer gets the benefit.

  • @darktrix said:

Pretty much what I keep saying. No matter how hard things like healing, DS, etc. are nerfed, there will loud mouths wanting more severe nerfs. I despise tunnelers even more than campers and DS is fine now. Anything less than 60 seconds and it would be worthless perk as the killer will just wait out the timer with no real penalty. Killer may spend half that time or longer anyway just trying to chase the injured unhooked. Time is the penalty if the killer doesn't have a pair.

No matter what the killer chooses, they're penalized with their time. If the efficient play is to eat the DS, that's 5 secs minimum wasted. I say minimum because that is excluding any exhaustion perk that may be up and enduring not affecting the stun. Add on the time it takes to down them again. Every second counts for killer. Still less pressure than slugging and going back to pressure gens, but that person still got an immunity since someone should pick them up while the killer is gone. Or the killer wastes the minute camping the slug and hope that survivors are going for the save and not on a gen.

  • @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538156#Comment_538156

oh, I play with unpredictable potatoes sometimes... you never know xD

I feel that. It also just seems like everyone else and their mom is running it. The best is seeing someone actually had it but somehow missed the skill-check and it never got used (I know I'm a bit vindictive here). :P

  • I thought that was just me twitching my camera. It's a bit sickening, especially if you want to play multiple games. I notice it more as survivor getting hit. My camera just jerks randomly. Not as bad as hag trap, but enough to be annoying/weird.

  • Ahhhh. Generally, someone getting slugged by the killer (unless it's the final two people) is probably because the killer may think the person has DS. The claw marks are also telling since most other obsession perks aren't getting used. The other thing is that I'm someone who goes for the save, so I notice how the person plays. If they're reckless, most likely DS (possibly BT). If not, it teaches them to not be reckless unless you want to be hooked.

It's more like an educated guess when you're solo. Just be prepared to save if it's wrong. It's sort of like being able to tell a killer has spirit fury/enduring. Survivors aren't as good at hiding it as they may think.

    @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538130#Comment_538130

Yes, you said “if I know someone else has DS”. I never know what people have because I always play solo.

  • @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538093#Comment_538093

You have as many chances of knowing as the killer does unless you SWF

Can you just elaborate a bit more here? Not trying to be snarky or anything, I'm just not quite understanding (and that's all on me). Is this in reference to solos?

  • @AIG1992 said:

People not wanting the event extended...something I'll never understand. Must be horrible getting more bps, smh!

It brings out the worst in people. Sometimes double bp ends up being less than what I usually make a game normally because of prevalent tunneling/camping. Or because I get mori'd since people love to use them during events.

  • Being slugged means you won't get hooked. Not being hooked give you an extra chance, especially if someone comes and picks you up. If I know someone has DS as another survivor, I'll 'fake' go for the person to trick the killer into picking them up. You can literally do anything if you don't get slugged and not worry about being hooked.

    @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/538079#Comment_538079

How is it a 1 minute immunity perk? You can slug the survivor if you want. You choose what to do and what to expect.

  • You do know there will be other events in the future?

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

Think about it this way. Let's say we all agree with you, so we all stop working on generators and just go immersed until we can get the hatch.

Tell me, what is the winrate for survivor with this tactic assuming it works every time (not a good assumption).

The answer is 25%. Since if everyone is using that strategy then 3 people die per game, which means you could be one of those 3 giving you poor odds of even being able to attempt a hatch escape.

Instead compare that to the strategy of gen rush. When it's pulled off all 4 survivors escape for a winrate of 100%. Since no one has to die and thus you don't have to die.

Of course both of these winrates are higher than they actually would be in the event that the strategy fails one game. However either way, gen rush simply ought to give you a higher success rate than stalling for the hatch would.

In otherwords, there is a completely selfish reason to want to complete all 5 generators.

Don't forget those survivors who will sell-out a 'teammate' for a chance to escape or to just get everyone killed.

  • @Gorgonia My friends always mistake him for Legion in the distance. xD

  • @ShrekIsHot Is that what Dwights do in lockers nowadays?

  • They tried to shove me into a locker....... but a Dwight was already in there.

  • Are you talking about purposefully proxy camping?

Or being forced to 'camp' because of altruistic people?

They're gonna keep doing it because survivors will continue to feed them points even if you 'punish' the killer. Then again, those who hard camp don't care about pipping anyways. You'll see it anywhere as long as survivors don't adapt and punish them. That's why they will continue to rank up with camping.

  • Legion. Straight up is my play style. Nothing is better than making them think I'll FF only to just m1 them. Or FF them and 'leaving' before returning to find them mending. You're a literal pain and it's great. :D

Huntress. Honestly just messing around and tossing hatchets. Feels so good when you get that snipe.

Can't you set controller sensitivity in the console options?

Up to 100%. But there's a delay to spinning around and it doesn't feel fast. Other games I wouldn't have it that high because the slightest jerk would be nauseatingly fast. DbD is slow in comparison. Painfully so at times.

  • @miaasma What have you been using on them? Have you found a meme/fun build for them? Any preferred strategy? These are just genuine questions btw. I'm always looking to improve on my legion skills. You're also not obligated to answer. ☺️

how do you happen to find more than 1 survivor on a gen by the time you get there? you do realize he has a 32m tr now? ive said you would assume me, and you do have the right because i have assumed you did not play legion. ive told you why his free first hit is useless when you can m1 without a decisive strike afterwards. and hes not a wraith because wraith doesnt have a terror radius and he gets a sprint burst that can only be countered by a pallet or window (same as legion) but the only difference is he doesnt get stunned afterwards. again, he may be able to vault pallets and windows, but he can still get looped like a wraith even in his sprint. i am not even counting the perks both for killer and survivor. moniter and abuse helps, but even myers will always be better at sneaking because he has a lower terror radius than monitor and abuse gives. sprint burst counters both, but the difference is wraith can cancel his decloak at will and dont get punished for it. LEGION GIVES THE SURVIVOR A FREE ESCAPE AND ITS NOT WORTH TO PLAY LEGION BECAUSE SHE CAN NOT GET THE FIRST HIT AS GOOD AS A WRAITH OR A PIG CAN. PIG HAS MORE GEN PRESSURE BECAUSE AHE HAS A SECOND ABILITY THAT ACTUALLY IS A THREAT. STOP SAYING LEGION CAN CHAIN HITS. HE CAN NOT. I will never believe that you play legion yourself, and if you do it must be only once against some solo survivors in rank 13-7. ######### poorly phrased paragraphs, i wonder when you will stop undermining people and actually talk sense to senseless people, because that is the only way you will be credible.

Holy chill out dude. Legion is around mid-tier, so they’re playable. I am someone who has played them to red ranks before reset. It is possible. You work for the down, you don’t get an easy hit. Wraith and pig are stealth killers, legion is not and never intended to be. They are suppose to get the first hit as stealth killers.

FF is a tracking/pressure tool, not a free hit. Maybe you don’t play them enough to fully understand their nuances. What makes them actually work and what doesn’t. If you know their lunge while frenzied and bait out the juke, you will hit the person. Oh, and they can chain hits if you actually practice the ability. People may not be on top of each other but there’s someone who gets pinged with killer instinct usually.

  • Yeah I know what you mean. People will swarm right as you hook someone then message you about ‘camping’ because they didn’t wait to save.
