I am green rank because I don't have enough time on my hands to get to red ranks as survivor.
Every game so far I've had a red ranked killer with gray/yellow teammates.
None of this should be happening, so I am voicing my opinion about it.
-
If this is the matchmaking system BHVR wanted then you should just crush them with all your might, without feeling any guilt.

Which games are y'all playing. The vast majority of pvp games I can think of hide their mmr and only display ranks like what we currently display now exept instead of 20 through 1, a lot are using tiers like bronze, silver, and gold with different divisions amongst them.
Thank you for proving my statement correct.

Back in the day, the game was more cooperative as not everyone was a Decisive Strike / Unbreakable / Dead Hard / Spine Chill stealth commando.

From the news section of this very website:
- "Why are we keeping the skill rating hidden?
For every player who gets really excited at the prospect of seeing their skill rating, there is another player who dreads it. For now, to encourage everyone to play the game the best they can, we are keeping the skill rating hidden. We have plans to expose it somewhat in the future, but nothing to announce at this time.
There's not many competative games with a working MMR system out there that outright hide the matchmaking statistics from their players. The players playing needs to know if they're doing good or bad, so they can improve themselves.
-
The matchmaking system is still a mess, so eh. I've not played the update yet so I cannot mention how the new auras look like.
-
Its all talk until we see results. We all know that BHVR are good at talking.
-
The increased charge penalty was already a hefty negative on the add-ons.. I don't see why this was needed?
-
As long as DbD doesn't have a competitor, people won't "leave" it. Where should they go if they want that asymmetrical itch scratched?
No, BHVR have grown lazy from this lack of competition. No matter what they do, people will keep playing.
-
I honestly feel like the values in this MMR system is reversed. Experienced killers shouldn't be matched against beginners and vice versa.

they're gonna do that anyways
Given enough time, yeah definitely. Still won't stop BHVR for being silent about it, though.
-
@clem1710 said:
Please stop complaining about that. People have been asking for MM changes for for ages, now it's done. But don't expect it to be perfect the day they release it. Damn
Being silent is being complacent. If there's a problem, people should voice their opinion about it.
-
Maybe the monthly reset will affect Decay? Or maybe if it'll start decreasing passively if you're not play one side or another for a certain amount of time? We don't know. BHVR won't give much details on their new MMR system because it'd open up player exploitation.
-
Supposedly, 10 games are enough for the MMR to find you your spot in the matchmaking system.

I'm not sure I follow what is the difference between IN-TRIAL and POST-TRIAL. Either way you still gain the BPs?
Each Category have a cap of 8K points. IN-TRIAL BP bonuses makes you reach that cap faster and once reach, the bonus isn't useful anymore. The IN-TRIAL bonuses are not worth pursuing unless you feel the perk they're connected to do enough on their own, like how Doctor generally benefit from Distressing increased Terror Radius.
-
OK, so. Here's how it works. Distressing and Thrill of the Hunt's bonus BP are award IN-TRIAL, which means that when you're reached 8k BP in a category, that 100% bonus from Distressing ain't worth anything anymore. In the meantime, BBQ and Bloody Party Streamer both award their bonus BP POST-TRIAL. They multiply the total amount of the BP gained IN-TRIAL. Same goes for that Hunter BP offering.
So what you got was 26,500 (base) + 26,500 (BBQ at 4 stacks) + 26,500 (Bloody Party Streamer) + 4000 (Hunting Offering) for a total of 83,500 BP.
-
The literally non-existant matchmaking system is what's making it a bad experience for new players. In no game that doesn't have a casual mode, should a first-timer play against a 1000+ hour veteran.
-
Its all over the place..!

MMR will take a while to set
He meant that 3 people DCd.
-
Or just.. remove the whole Slightly/Moderately/Tremendously thing altogether?
-
Any killer that have the power to instantly down a survivor (chainsaw, broken due to plague etc) means they barely get any chase. This hurts them in the ranking system.
-
In the first few games, maybe yeah.
-
How does it work? It just do.
-
I'd not mind FNAF stuff in DBD, as long as its Springtrap and none else. The rest of the cast are meh.
-
@oxygen said:
They would've probably done the same switch even if you were Plague, because all the programs and scripts that allowed survivors to figure out who the killer was that were well known are fixed. The log file they used to get the information is encrypted now, and there's no way someone figured out how to crack the encryption already.
I've posted it before but here's an example.
This is what the log file's structure looked like before the midchapter patch.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/T75DS3I0RMUV/before.png
Perfectly human-readable normal letters, and therefore very easily readable by programs and scripts as well. But then the midchapter patch dropped, and now it looks like this.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UUFVTZ9A5GHX/after.png
Encrypted gibberish, good luck getting any meaningful information out of that.
There might be other methods that still work, but if there are I've never heard of them. I never saw any talk of any method that didn't rely on the real-time "readability" of the log file. If such a method exists, it doesn't have nearly the "fame" of the now fixed method.
Encryptions can be broken.
I'd still like to see survivors being locked in their role at 30 seconds remaining so that they cannot pull any last-second switching.. but I doubt it'll happen, if Almo is to be trusted. Survivors always get a free pass on such issues.
-
I don't like any of them.
-
Some people out there have managed to find out how to inflict DC penalties on people who didn't even DC. Tru3Ta1ent ended up getting a 72 hour ban yesterday after a game. That's why the DC penalties was disabled once more. I guess BHVR thought that people forgot how to do it inbetween last time it was disabled and this time?
Dead by Daylight feels like a Smörgåsbord when it comes to hackers and yet BHVR prefer pumping out skins instead of securing their game and improving it. Its sad to see but like, it was bound to happen when a game doesn't have a competitor. Everyone grow lazy.
-
Gonna bump it once and if nothing happens, then that'll be that.
-
It doesn't have a negative effect on its own but it lets Pyramid Head choose more options on how to deal with Survivors.
I'd not consider it a status effect.
-
NOED is fine as it is, though?
-
According to @Almo, survivors get a free pass on that. Only killers need to be locked in since survivors are all one of the same. That's the answer I got, at least, when I asked why survivors aren't locked in as well. Developer confirmed that last-second switches are A-Okay.
-
@Veen said:
I trought I saw a mod post earlier who said they recently encripted those logs, did they got trough it again ?
Encryptions can be broken through.
-
If Killers gonna be locked into the killer they joined the queue with, then survivors need to have a lock-down period inside the lobby where they can no longer switch survivor (but still switch out perks / items). Maybe at 30 seconds remaining? Its only fair.
-
Any game with a matchmaking system should be considered competitive.
-
It probably takes 10-20 games before the MMR truly settles. However, yes, switching to a killer you don't play will give you an unfair advantage since you're far more experienced as killer overall but that also means (since you're probably gonna go on a stomping spree) that your MMR will settle really fast in 5-10 games.
As far as we know, there's nothing saying that the MMR will decrease on its own if you don't play a specific killer regularly.

Because people disagree on things? This thread hasn't seen anybody use derogatory slurs or language.
Its a lot of offended people in this thread, even without nothing bad actually said. It means that there's people out there that'll see literally anything as offensive and want someone banned for it.
-
I've not touched DbD since the auras turned bad. I won't touch the game until they turn good. It just reinforced my beliefs that I am not sure what BHVR's doing and enhanced my reluctance to support them by buying skins. I don't want to support a company that's just yoloing changes and then not actually checking out how the changes behave when going live.
-
- Team Fortress at 3000+ hours.
- Warframe at 1400+ hours.
- DbD at 800+ hours.
-
This thread is a perfect example why the post-game chat shouldn't exist to begin with.
-
I want struggle to be more like the Cage of Atonement's struggle phase, where you're bombarded with skill checks and you'll die faster if you miss them. My hand, and my keyboard, don't like the whole "mashing spacebar" version of struggle. It literally hurts.
-
None. I want the developers to focus on healing the buggy mess that's their game.

I don't see the problem in players going up against others of equal skill, regardless of what they do as a hobby.
I'd be OK with this as well.

I don't care a single bit about the Rift, so any skins in it are lost to me.

That sucks.

It'd not be so much of an issue if the DC'd player left an AI player or Husk that the Killer could use to get points from.
-
How does one spend $500 on a game like this..?
-
You might have lost connection, not the killer DCing? Could explain it, a mix of both worlds.

Yeah, they could've added a syringe, a bit more injuries and it could be a blight skin instead of "legendary" one that makes oni into "another character" that has no differences from oni apart from another face.
Precisely. All they're doing is looking for people going "OMG COOL SKINZ!!" and impulse buying them for $15. Hopefully it'll backfire and all these.. legendary skins, will be a thing of the past. I doubt linked skins will sell well either, as people see mix-and-match as a better option.
