Survivors are the majority and as long as the majority is happy, they'll buy DLCs and Skins and Rifts.
-
Money.
A complete set can be sold for more money.
Its the next step up from $10 skins. They're trying the waters, seeing how many will buy it. If enough people do, then there's $20 skins. Then there's $25 skins. $30 skins. Its coming, if people keep telling BHVR its OK.

Old Franklin turned useless following the change that made items not break when they run out of charges, as it couldn't delete items anymore. Having items literally despawn if not picked up again.. is a change that'd make Franklin usable again.
-
Pardon my language but they're ######### awful.

i mean both effect the killers powers now anyways. so the arguement is invalid hahahaha
@CrowFoxy they have been changed both of them
mothers helpers decreases chainsaw charge time after being stunned by a pallet for 30s
black grease decreases rate of cooling when a flashlight is shon on you.
(black grease is still to situational, but is a lot better) (mothers helpers is now basically old sparkplug or whatnot, good for countering pallet drops with enduring, to increase charge speed during a chase, by intentionally tanking a stun and auto breaking with enduring (you keep your charge when stunned) and faster charge speed, then catching up and using faster charge speed.)

Wait, they were changed?
Checked in-game. Seems like they have been changed but I don't see patch notes mentioning it anywhere..

there are quite a few with bare minimum connections, and i will agree thsoe do absolutely nothing to do with his power. but things like the terror radius addons for doctor/deathslinger don't have anything to do with their power (though they do directly benefit from the changes.)
there are also some like wraiths addons which alter his break speed/movement speed in power, or freddys addons which are literally just free slowdown and have nothing do to with his traps. i was thinking of those though i guess they all atleast tie into the killer in some way, or have some downside/upside tied to them and the killers power.
Edit: also any addon that gives mangled status effect on hit. thats just a replacement for sloppy butcher through the power, and like yeah i guess.
All of those still use the Killer's power, one way or another. Mother's Helpers and Black Grease don't. Even Leatherface's new budget Franklin's Demise / Knockout add-ons both require chainsaw hits to work.

Not to mention they cost $15. That's the price of two full DLCs for 1 skin.
If I recall it, you have to buy $20 worth of AC in order to buy a $15 skin, which is also a prime example of corporate greed.

@FilledPizza said:
Yeah, you have to mess up HEAVILY or just be trying to overheat the chainsaw for it to work. In normal gameplay, he's almost the same as before minus the add-ons.
Mother's Helpers and Black Grease still exist though.
-
Wow.. That's awful.
-
Its for a reason. There's more profit in forcing you to buy an entire set than a single part. I'd vote with your wallet and don't buy any of them.
-
I won't buy anything from it. I hate the whole new linked skins thing.
-
Lobby hack to check which killer it is and then they're still allowed to switch out for meta loadout at last second.. Survivors get the long stick every time.

quite a few addons don't.
Do name a few, cause I don't recall an add-on that does literally nothing to the Power itself.
-
And they left in Mother's Helpers and Black Grease unchanged?

Because Survivors are all the same. We're not tracking per-Survivor MMR.
That's really not an excuse, though?
-
They're testing the waters. Seeing how willing people are to buying these skins. If people buy them, they'll add more overpriced legendary skins.
-
Any buff to solo survivors is a direct buff to SWF groups.

It's mentioned in the patch notes, but switching killers while queuing is disabled in preparation for the upcoming matchmaking system. You'll have a separate rating for each killer, so you'll be locked to the killer you have selected when you start queuing.
So why aren't survivors locked in as well? They can last-second switch and everything, still. Its unfair.
-
It'd suck if the survivors were inconvenienced in any way. That's not OK.
-
Its a well known fact right now that the developers don't play their own game and have little insight of the actual going-ons of their game. They've stared themselves blind on data that, when shared with us plebs, have been inaccurate or vague as possible.

It was never taken out to begin with. I saw plenty of incidents of TACTICAL DISCONNECT, INCOMING!!!! even with the penalty.

All they literally have to do is add DC bots or even "AFK stuck in dying state" husks like Mobile already has. Quitting should NEVER give you an advantage in any game, EVER!
The game definitely needs bots / husks to replace players who DC / lose connection.
-
I'll do as I usually do. Don't give a crap.
I don't play enough to be able to unlock the entire Rift track and I am sure enough not going to spend money leveling up the Rift to get the cosmetics
-
I generally never "give" hatch but I hate slugging for the 4k, so I am at least giving the last survivor a chance to find that hatch before I do.

A killer who could work really well is Wilbur Whateley, a half-human "fathered" by Yog-Sothoth, one of the greatest of old ones. He was also twin brother of the invisible giant monstrosity - the Dunwich Horror - also half-human but taking more from his father's side. Wilbur wasn't a great old one and was entirely mortal, but still had plenty of eldritch horror in him. He's also from one of Lovecraft's oldest and best known works, its the one included in the keeper's guide for Call of Cthulhu 8th edition.
He was characterized by extreme intelligence, an oversized, barely human form, and was well educated in eldritch magic. His main goals were taking care of his brother, and possibly working towards summoning his father. He could easily have a very interesting and unique power, either involving using eldritch magic from the necronomicon, or summoning his brother, possibly both. Imagine a power like oni's where you gain magical energy, but instead of going beast mode, you summon a great invisible wrecking ball to wreak havoc somewhere on the map.
H.P was just a man absolutely terrified of everything he didn't understand, which was other races, poor people, outside, the ocean, air conditioners, math, nearly everything tbh because he was also sort of an idiot. He did have a great talent with prose though can't deny that. But the main reason his works are so remembered and influential is because he got his friends to all write in the same universe as him, many of the most influential works weren't written by him. His particular lunacy did lend something to the genre, but the work of many others went into it as well.
Also don't forget that despite being an omnipotent incomprehensible alien god, Cthulhu did get koed by a boat to the noggin in his titular story, so there is in fact an upper limit to their power.
That's also an alternative. Wilbur had a pretty messed up eldritch body that'd work well for a body-horror style killer design.

Isn't it due for tomorrow?

Worse????
Atm, ranks don't mean anything anymore and has been that way since the last 3 chapters or so
If anything, this new mm is bound to be better than the current "mm"
Yes, worse! Things can always be worse. I cannot wait until people find out the quirks of the new matchmaking system and use it get matched against newbies that they can stomp. No doubt it'll be related to how player stacking in SWF groups will work, if you recall back to the time where the matchmaking based its rank search based upon the lowest ranked member of the SWF. Undoubtedly, this will happen again.

Apparently balancing changes wrt loops comes with graphical updates.
I was referring to the increased level of dark areas that'll come with the graphical update. Will make it so much harder to find Blendettes and no doubt that Blendette will become a much more popular character following the update.
-
I'd play more killer if I wasn't so stressed playing it. The fact that I can press Ready as killer in an empty lobby and feel my heart start racing.. its pretty scary.
-
The new graphics will make it worse for killers. Not to mention that the performance and FPS might drop for every player across the board, with consoles suffering tremendously from the new graphics.

Yea, and the devs have been listening and working to push about new mm system
These post are nothing new
You're pretty naive if you believe that the new MMR system will work from the get-go. We're not even sure it won't be worse than it currently is.

Its good that people keep mentioning it when there's clearly a problem with the matchmaking system.
-
Rank currently boils down to how much you play. Its really hard to derank unless you're a survivor getting hard-camped and then tunneled/morid every game.
-
The anger is justified when BHVR went well beyond what they needed to change about Hillbilly. I still struggle to believe that they actually changed his add-ons to change things that isn't even related to his power. Literally useless add-ons.

yes, but what are the devs going to do with the extra add-ons that aren't repurposed? They tend to not like to retire offerings except for very impactful reasons.
And anyway, how would returning the map offerings as mystery-box exclusives but not letting them spawn otherwise on the bloodweb cause bloodweb-related clutter? [insert confused meme]
Shouldn't be that hard to give people the corresponding amount of new offerings for every old offering being retired.
Having more stuff with little value would increase clutter. Filling Mystery Boxes with random stuff that can only be obtained from them could.. maybe, clean up the bloodweb a bit but trying to get good stuff from them would be even harder as they're filled to the brim with all sort of stuff.
-
I'd like this change, yeah. It'd give survivors a way to tell how accurate he is as well, and adapt accordingly.
-
I am a simple person. I like Dwight.
-
Right now I am trying to get good at Deathslinger but I used to play plenty of Doctor, Clown and Trapper.
-
Not sure anymore. Hard to stop, I guess?
-
Some perk changes, bug fixes, I guess.

@Kind_Lemon said:
Your suggestion is too much work without any other, potential, future benefit. Bloodpoint offerings should only appear in Mystery boxes, and one Mystery Box should be given to the player each time after completing a bloodweb.
P.S. it would be fun to bring back the "moderately" and "slightly" map offerings in the same fashion.
Are you sure its too much work? You can re-use a lot of the icons that each offering have and then its just the matter of fiddling a tiny bit with the values that shouldn't be more than copy-pasting the code from one offering to another, a changing its value. I don't see why it'd be a big thing.
You'd clutter the Bloodpoint web something bad if you brought back those map offerings, not to mention how weak-sauce they were. Barely did an impact.
-
The King in Yellow would be an amazing Killer to have, thematically.
-
Perhaps pay-gates and loot boxes will be introduced by that point. Will be exciting to see how far BHVR plan on taking the monetization, with the legendary skins now having opened up for 15$ skins.
-
I feel like I get most value out of a medkit but I tend to never bring items into games and if I survive with an item on hand that I pilfered, I'll use it for the next game as well. Until I lose it.
-
Not sure, to be honest. Been playing the game for a long time and I've grown cynical about the game. Still cannot stop playing it, however.
-
If you're playing on Steam, pressing the button in the bottom right corner will close the chat for you. It won't reopen until you choose to do so yourself.
-
Deathslinger sacrifices everything he has for a strong chase, though? If you take away his strong chase as well, what can he do?
-
I wish this forum had a downvote button.
-
Dead by Daylight do not have a proper competitor that forces BHVR to be on top to keep players around. This means that they can be how lazy and incompetent as they want, and still have players playing their game. What else are they gonna play that will give them the DbD itch, you know?
As you might have seen from changes they make, they seem a bit disconnected from things that's happening in the game and what the community wants. Some changes doesn't even make sense anymore, like Mother's Helpers/Black Grease for Hillbilly. Why'd you make a power add-on that has literally nothing to do with the power itself?
I'd also like to point out that they seem to have a huge investment in pumping out cosmetics rather than fixing bugs. While I understand that the cosmetics team and the bug fixing team aren't the same team and work independently, it feels like the cosmetics team is just waaay larger and more funded than the bug fixing team.
Eh, that's my few cents.
-
Forgot that survivors also have the "Bound Envelope" offering which brings it up to 16 BP offerings for survivors and 15 for Killer. Doesn't change the point of my rework, though!
-
Well, they're literally holding the game hostage so if you had a recording of it and ran them around for a few minutes and sent that in..
