I think the matchmaking system is the main culprit to why new players don't seem to stay for too long.
Queues, especially for killer, is super long and gives of the impression that the game's dead (or broken, if they check up the total amount of players playing atm) and then the matchmaking system throws them together with people who don't below in the 16-20 ranks. Heck, we've seen many screenshots basically confirming that red ranks can be matched with first time players and that should never EVER happen in any game with a matchmaking system.
I'd love to see statistics showing how long an average player stays for. If you check the Steam global achievements, only 50% of players have managed to get from rank 20 to 19.. and I am not sure what I feel about that.

No mention of Dwight?
-
Nah, dude. Just nah.

You sweet summer child. There's always more nerfs on the horizon.
-
I fear Huntress more. Can down you from range, has infinite range on her hatchets and the hatchet hitbox is like a fridge.

yes that it a problem for them that they need to think about..
No, no. Then. As in, the future. For when the problems arrive.

Dead Space is pretty dope. Shame its not on the list.

Is a clown horrifying to you? Is a group of teens with knifes horrifying to you? Or, more horrifying than an infected woman, whose body is decomposing, that's puking that infection at you?
Ironically, my sister is terrified of clowns and she instantly quits games (both normal and in KYF) if she is faced against him.

Because devs suck at balancing and don't know anything about their game. Why do you think have they been making all those purple addons that apply hemorrhage? They are utterly useless, same goes for blindness.
Surge would be more viable without a cooldown and the M1 requirement, but they think it would be heavily op because of rank 20 games... But rank 20 killers don't have all perks anyway and can't down survivors fast enough to make it op either. IDK man, just learn to live with the bad balance decisions.
Surge would be actually a really viable perk if it didn't have the cooldown.

funny tho if all killer quit survivors can't play so why would they buy anything?
That's a problem for then.
-
Not really, tbh. More content in Dead by Daylight means more bugs and such stuff. I'd rather see a chapter being dedicated towards crushing bugs and doing QoL changes.
-
They'll definitely not reveal it because it'd allow people to min-max the MMR system to rank up/down faster than intended.
-
Yeah, nah, dude. Killers shouldn't be forced to play or punished to play games they know won't be fun. I had a lobby a few days ago where 4 Blendettes joined and all of them had a key in their hands. You think I wanna play against that?
Speaking of being punished, you saw how well the DC punishment went right? Never felt like it worked and now they have removed it because it was being exploited.
-
I'll thank them when I see that it works as intended. Call me cynical but I've been plenty disappointed before.

At Red Ranks:
92% of all games get 5 gen'd
Killers only average 1.7 kills.
This is without any data on SWF. The game heavily favors survivors at the moment. I play both sides. Survivor is way easier right now.
Where do you find this data?

Why would devs nerf their biggest source of income?
The second the developers negatively change anything Survivor related, they lose money. And that's not OK.

They tend to twist the data to make it look better, like merging all platforms together or all ranks together. Its still correct data but not the specific data we want. I'd buy some Cells as a reward to BHVR if they actually committed to showing the data people want to see but that'll never happen.

I think its strange people are upset by this. The only thing thats changing is you have to pick your killer prior to searching for a match. It seems like you can still change perks.
My only recommendation to tge devs is to lock items for survivors while theyre at it, maybe 30 secs before match starts.
It comes from the fact that restrictions are being placed on one side, and not the other. And that's unfair. Survivors would be voicing their opinions about it as well if the situation was reversed. It should be both or neither.

You are showing one end of the spectrum. I saw several matches today with 5 gens done, and escapes where the survivors barely scratched 12k due to the killer only going for 2 players. Sorry, but that is pure bs.
The trick here is not that all five generators were fixed and he escaped but that he probably spent a long time in the trial before leaving. The main reason why Killer get so much points is because he have to spend the entire trial in-game.

But what exactly has been put into XBX now?
My friend is playing and there still doesn't seem to be any difference
A new matchmaking system that's basically like this;
- If you're a god at Trapper but bad on Nurse, you're gonna get matched against god survivors as Trapper and bad survivors as Nurse.

That's mostly cause your average survivor wouldn't be able to handle killer.
Aside from that, it's an *asymmetrical game*. It's designed to be more of one side vs less of the other. That's the entire point. One thing you fail to realize is, both sides need to be kept happy in order for a game to exist.
BHVR is not doing much to improve what killers would like to see and I've yet to see survivors suffer a Hillbilly / Ruin treatment yet.
An example mentioned in this very thread is why are killers locked into their role when they press ready but survivors can last-second switch to a key-using Blendette with meta perks whenever?
If BHVR wanted to improve killer happiness, they could start by adding a Lobby indicator for SWFs.
-
Don't worry, they don't. Survivors far outnumber the killer side of the playerbase.
-
No doubt because of the new map. People have noticed, thanks to popular streamers who've pointed it out, that you can never be caught if you just run around in circles in the corridors. There's no way for the killer to cut you off or corner you, so it takes minutes for them to catch up and by that time.. you've thrown the game as a killer.
-
There's a Bloodhunt coming or?
-
@csandman1977 said:
OoO needs to be removed to be honest. There are other ways to get the killers attention.
Precisely. Its a perk that basically only used for toxic interaction with the killer at this point.
-
Players playing together via SWF shouldn't be punished for doing so. Like it or not, SWF is a massive part of DbD and implementing negatives for those playing in groups would cause people to leave.. hurting BHVR's income.
What needs to happen, is having indicators to lobby to show who's in a SWF group and then reward killers and solo survivors for playing with them.
-
Yep. It'll get its time on the chopping block pretty soon, I bet. I wonder if any survivor perks will get the same treatment, though?
-
There should be no punishment for wanting to play together with friends. However, there should be incentives to wanna play against a SWF group for the Killer and any solo in the lobby.
-
I rather not have Legendary Skins be a thing. Its like a gateway or entrance for more overly priced cosmetic items in DbD. The prices are already too high (and for some reason people keep buying them).
-
They'll never ever target SWF for any reason with negative changes because survivors are the majority of the playerbase. If you keep the majority happy and satisfied, they'll be more willing to buy things and buying things are what makes BHVR money. It'd be insanity to attack your main income of money.
-
Its a meme coming from the "PC MASTER RACE" thing. There's "tryhards" on every platform.. even on Mobile. Although on Mobile, I think the tryharding includes more pay-2-win microtransactions to give you that edge you need.
-
Your username gives it away. You got some exposed to some real bad RNG.
-
There's just too many downsides for it to be worth it. I rather have him as he is right now.
-
The best thing with the Steam end-game chat is that you can disable it. Do that and play as you want, never again you need to worry about what the survivors thought of your performance.
-
Its an example of a killer second chance perk. That's it. Easy enough to get rid off, if you spend a minute or two each game (or equip Detective's Hunch / Small Game) to hunt for some dull totems.

Im on a FORCED break myself. My PC started smoking this morning... So until I can get it fixed, no DBD for me.
Oof.
On topic. Its clear that BHVR doesn't see any value in long-time players. They don't seem to listen to their fog whisperer playerbase and outright ignore most feedback given to them. No doubt there's more value to get new players into the game, who buy a bunch of DLCs and a few skins, before burning out and never touching the game again.
-
I honestly don't know. I don't remember the last time I didn't have the end-game chat disabled.
-
None.
I'd not mind survivors having more emotes..
..BUT..
..there better be an animation lock so that if a survivor decides to use an emote to bully a Killer, they'll have to endure the entire animation of it before they can do anything else.
-
I've disabled the eng-game chat so I don't get to know what people think about the game.
-
If its contained to KYF and there's no way to earn BP/shards from it, I don't see the harm in letting players play any survivor/killer in the game (apart from maybe the licensed ones since they're.. licensed.).
-
No thanks. And no in-game voip either. I rather not make every survivor have the power of a SJW.
-
Being unable to throw down pallets when intoxicated means that you'd be completely defenseless as a survivor. I am heavily against this part.
Clown needs buffs, yes, but I think a few smaller ones would be better than a rework. An example would be to remove the vaulting/breaking noises Clown has. For some reason, he's the only Killer who does and it really ruins his mind-game potential. Another example, that'd also help with his mind-gaming, would be to make intoxicated survivors be unable to see the red stain.
-
I am in the 2v8 group.
-
Its a good perk! It doesn't sound like it does much but every second you make survivors spend extra doing something, is a second more that you have to win the game. Besides, hurt survivors are easier to down.

We'll just have to wait and see once it comes out. I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt and see when it launches rather than jump straight into assuming they'll fail. Overall my thoughts are that you will be placed with people of your own skill lvl once crossplay is released. If that means abunch of console players end up getting deranked abunch til they get partnered with some rank 10 PC players or something...so be it.
Always. I am just looking back at their track record and making expectations from there. Better to have a low expectations and be pleasantly surprised if stuff works well.
-
There's no harm in taking breaks. Its healthy. I take a few months off here and there because DbD is a very frustrating game sometimes.

Maybe.
But that's assume BHVR can get their Matchmaking System literally perfected by the time Cross Platform goes Live.
While I am excited for the Cross-Play, I have no doubts in my mind that it'll be a utterly broken experience to begin with.
-
I am so looking forward to seeing actual Cross-Play in DbD. It'll help alleviate matchmaking issues on the console platforms and it'll probably help pad out the lower ranks on PC for faster games.
