Honestly, no. Its basically going to start a new trend of toxicity and tunneling from killers who bait the survivor into doing objectives and then proceed to tunnel them risk free. It's a really unhealthy change and it was a poor idea to just implement what killer mains were requesting without any forethought of the risks and downsides to doing so. I don't use DS, but even I'll feel the effects of this as the fear of DS will be gone. My concern is mostly for weaker players that are not very good loopers and will just get tunneled straight out of the game via bait tunneling.
But hey, the devs have always favoured killers. Lol I really shouldn't even be surprised at this point. Especially after the Autohaven nerfs with huge deadzones and fewer pallets.

i think it would be a bad idea. Timer slows down in chase is possible, but should not last indefinitely.
otherwise survivors can literally run in front of killer to force the chase and killer can do nothing about it. Toxic survivors will definitely abuse this, as their best interest is not winning the game, but annoy the killer.
Ah. That's true and I hadn't considered that. I like your idea better.

When another player heals you, Ds is still active.
Tapping a gen is your decision. The killer needs to regress gens, when you work against it, you cant be invincible. The killer needs to have a option to stop you.
The, "x needs to do this" argument is the dumbest thing ever. If that's the case, survivors need to survive so DS should cause the killer to be stunned for 20 seconds. See how dumb that sounds? Tapping a gen isn't working on a generator. It should be changed to something like, "performing x action for x amount of seconds" should deactivate DS. This way a survivor has a bit of leeway if someone is hooked as the survivor with DS is unhooked and the killer decides to come back and tunnel so they're not screwed out of their DS by thinking they were safe for a moment.
-
For me it was mostly problematic when going for adepts. If a survivor kills themselves on first hook you have to hook every other survivor exactly three times to make sure you get Merciless. If two survivors do it, adept is no longer achievable.
-
Because 100% killer-only mains (Of which I'm convinced there are a lot of them) have no idea what the other side is actually like. They play the game, refusing to get better or try new strategies, and instead just want to find a survivor, M1 in seconds, down, and then BBQ over to the next survivor to do the same. But because of this they get roflstomped by mediocre survivors and assume that survivor is easy mode because they get beat all the time. There's actually a YouTuber who mains killer and is therefore heavily-biased towards killer that played survivor for the first time a while back and got absolutely destroyed after constantly talking about how, "easy" survivor is. They didn't even finish two generators.
Decisions about balance should never be influenced by those who only play one side.
-
Its because the devs are notoriously killer-sided and whined and whined until the devs gave survivors another nerf. While this doesn't affect me too much as I don't often run DS unless its been tunnel city all day, I worry for weaker players that use it regularly to avoid being taken out of the game quickly.
There's also loads of problems with the new DS and the definitions aren't defined. What does "healing" mean? If a killer hooks another survivor shortly after you get unhooked and you start to heal, but the killer comes back to tunnel, is your DS now deactivated even though you didn't finish the heal? If the killer pops your gen near your hook and you tap it so it doesn't regress even further while deciding whether or not to wait for DS to run out, is that going to cause DS to deactivate? If a teammate heals you for a second (Even though you don't want them to) does that deactivate DS?
It seems like this nerf to DS isn't going to be noticeable against camping killers who choose to tunnel, but will be abused by killers who proxy or just run back to the hook to tunnel. Hell, we could even look at a new type of tunneling called, "bait tunneling" where the killer makes the survivor think he's not going to come for them so they tap a gen or start to heal or something and then immediately the killer runs back to tunnel the survivor whose DS is now expired.
It just wasn't thought about from all angles and was just another way to appease the ever increasingly whiney killer main crowd who refuse to get decent at the game and instead just want nerfs.

Ahh that's it. The classic response to any criticism. I must be a killer main. Stop crying mate.
Your opinion and your experience of cue times is not the only opinion. You are wrong in that sense.
And the fact is the vast majority of people are experiencing 10 to 15 minute long cue times which is unacceptable. Hence why were complaining.
It's like saying I've never seen a bird therefore they just don't exist. It's a dumb argument. Made even dumber by your condescending jerkish response.
There's an issue with cue times end of. No ifs or buts it's an issue that more then one person has. Deal with it "survivor main".
It isn't just certain servers and it isn't a minority. Stop trying to put peoples experiences down cuz you haven't experienced them. It's not healthy for the game.
The devs literally said in their livestream today that queue times are heavily influenced by in-game events which literally mimics what I wrote.
And you're literally trying to imply that killers are leaving the game in droves. Soooo...take your last paragraph and apply it to yourself. Killer mains. 😒

@DaFireSquirtle said:

That's funny because survivor cue times are consistently horrendous during both battle passes and updates.
It doesn't just suddenly flip around cuz of updates and battle passes. A game should be good enough to be playable without a battle pass. The game never did have one so that's totally wrong.
Less killers is the only logical explanation. There's more people playing survivor then killers. The reasons for that are pretty obvious to.
You're wrong, silly killer main. But that's OK. :) Maybe on certain servers where the playerbase has always been small. Personally I don't experience any of the survivor queue time issues others complain about on NA East. But I do know instead of being near-instant as it is now its literally hit ready and I'm in a queue when its battlepass/update time.
-
It would never work. He would just sit in front of the chest so no survivor could ever open it. GG ez.
A mode that WOULD be more fun and likely to actually work is a hide and go seek mode with newer, smaller maps designated for hiding. No looping. No gen repair. Just hide out the timer while the killer looks for you.

something like that would fit the theme and not be a bad idea, but it should also make them immune to future traps in the match since they "passed the test"
Ah ya, that's a good idea!
-
Since Pig is from SAW I've always thought the idea of adding the ability for survivors to take a permanent debuff for the rest of the trial to remove Pig's trap immediately a fun idea. While removing the trap you could hit a specific button, your trap pops off, and then you're locked in a mini screen where you have to select one of four randomely chosen debuffs that are permanently on you for the rest of the trial.
This could be stuff like:
- Permanently exhausted
- Broken
- Slower gen repair
- Slower heal speeds
- No item usage
Stuff like that. SAW was always about making a sacrifice to get through his trials. This would not only align with the movies, but fix the RNG issue by allowing survivors to remove the trap at a penalty.
-
Killer mains will try to tell you that the game is dying because killers don't wanna play killer. This isn't true. There's just no reason to login at the moment with the battlepass being over and the mid-chapter postponed. Once both are active the queue times will be fast again. This has happened every time the battlepass has ended since its introduction.

Are you doing solo queue or SWFing?
-
NA East is near instant all day, every day. My guess is that there's no real reason to login at the moment. The battlepass is done and we're waiting for the Mid Chapter release. This has happened every time after the battlepass and stuff is done.

the killer shouldn't have to eat the ds. There is a reason why it is called the small pp build and with soul guard the micro pp build. I just think you need to play a few games of killer at red ranks and you will realise how stupid you are sounding. it's like saying you should have just instadowned them to avoid dh it just doesn't work like that. lemme guess too you think OoO is a balanced perk and you think noed it meta and op?
I love when people assume you don't play killer at red ranks. Mate. I'm a Rank 1 killer and have no issues holding my own against survivors. Sometimes I do get groups that absolutely squash me but that's rare and it's because they outplayed me. Not because the game set me up to fail. Quite the opposite, actually. The devs are incredibly killer-biased and with the addition of new maps and unsafe pallets/dead zones galore the fog is essentially a killer's playground right now.
I personally don't care for Unbreakable/DS/Soulguard. I use Ruin without Undying and that gets popped soon unless its clutch. But it gives me enough time to set the stage to keep the game balanced in my favour. Because of this, Soul Guard is a non-issue. I don't go after the first survivor I see in a match unless they're on a gen and even then it's just for a quick smack before I run off to go find another survivor. For every one that I chase, there's up to 3 more on gens. This is applying pressure. The 2nd survivor is who I find and hook. 1-2 gens will pop. This is fine. If I don't find any survivors I go back to the hook to smack the one who just got unhooked. I leave 'em on the ground (Or sometimes just eat the DS) and go for the person that did the unhooking. Once I get them down this pulls both survivors off the gens (Unless they're already being altruistic. If they are, bonus!) and it's just a wash, rinse, repeat of this until I've got one out of the game. Killer is NOT that complicated. Also don't be predictable. Mindgame until the survivor starts figuring you out and then make them mindgame themselves.
-
All they have to do to fix Freddy is remove his teleportation. An anti-loop killer should not be high mobility. One or the other. Boom. Balanced. He doesn't even need an add on pass then. His mobility assistance like the new Clown is slower gen speeds so he has time to walk across the map.

This is what I read and responded to. What you said is not even tunneling. If a killer has hooked someone and goes after anyone else, it is not tunneling.
Oh good lord. Yes it is! The killer just isn't camping. You can immediately rush back to a hook to tunnel a survivor that was just pulled off to tunnel them out of the game.

Nah. All the devs gotta do is make Stridor not work with her power. It can still work everywhere else. And bam. She's balanced.
-
If you can't function in society because certain words trigger you, you'll never be prepared for the real ######### life has to throw at you. :)
-
Listen, I am one of the first to call out OP killers where I see 'em. But Nurse definitely does have counterplay. Break line of sight and don't be predictable. If you follow through with your run around a loop the first time, don't do it the second time and double back on her when she teleports. Also I don't feel as bad when I get demolished by a really good PC Nurse because I know that Nurse lost a ######### ton of games before she got good.
Spirit (With Stridor) and Freddy have no counterplay. Focus on them instead.

That is still pretty lame. If you can't hook them, then you slug them but then they can just get up anyway. Even if it happens once on a single survivor. They don't always use unbreakable, but it is still pretty common.
They also love to jump in a locker... at that point I HAVE to leave them to work on a gen in say like shack.
Or....if you were a good killer and applied a ton of pressure and the survivors are busy doing things other than gens you could just, ya know, eat the DS.
-
@Yords said:

Sooo if a killer hooks someone else, it allows the killer to "tunnel" the previously hooked survivor? That isn't tunneling.
I'm not even going to dignify this with a proper response because you didn't actually bother to read.

Yeah, let me just let the survivor on hook work on a generator for a full minute just because they are running a perk.
You can slug them. If they have the other perks they'll get back up but they're not working on that generator in that time.

So DS automatically deactivates once the killer hooks someone else?
Like I said above, that idea is stupid. If a killer hooks someone as the survivor with DS is pulled off then DS allows killers to tunnel. Go find another survivor if you fear DS.

Read my post! I said if the killer is tunneling the perk should still work! But if you hook another survivor the perk shall deactivate
That renders DS useless in some situations. If you hook someone just as someone gets pulled off the hook with DS you can run immediately back to tunnel.
-
Don't tunnel. Don't slug. Don't use hex perks. There. Nerfed all three perks and made them completely useless leaving the survivor with only one other perk.

He does NOT have a longer lunge range. People only think this because Freddy is very short compared to the majority of killers. Clown also has a slow just like Freddy, yet people don't whine about Clown's slow. You quitting if you get a Freddy is proof that a lot of survivors don't want any challenge while playing, and you also show how uninformed most survivor mains are by thinking Freddy has a longer lunge than any other killer. A quick google search could've clarified that you were wrong thinking that BTW.
Freddy definitely has a longer lunge. It's evident when compared to Legion who is even smaller than Freddy. And Legion's weapon is even shorter than Freddy's. Also people don't complain about Clown because even though he's anti-loop he can't teleport across the map immediately after downing someone allowing himself to instantly down someone again (Like Freddy).
-
I've literally been complaining since the day his rework was released. It was evident from Day 1 that he was OP af having every. single. ability in the game at his disposal. No terror radius basically, best mobility in the game, strongest anti-loop in the game, slow down. It was insane that he actually got past the PTB. He should have never been released in that state.
As for your actual post...
1) Waking up isn't optimal. You have to run across the map wasting valuable time that could be spent on bones or gens. You're going to fall asleep in like 10 seconds so its not even worth it. By the time you do all that Freddy has also probobly downed someone else because he has zero skill being the most basic anti-loop killer to ever exist in DbD so if you did bother to wake up the 10% you managed to get on the gen will be popped or regressed by ruin once he BBQs to you.
2) That's a nice sentiment, but a good Freddy knows exactly where to place his snares within seconds of you getting to a loop. And as there's no punishment for placing snares in chase he's still following you while placing said snares. With the introduction of massive dead zones and fewer pallets to maps it's not beneficial to just leave the area against a Freddy because it won't take him long to catch up. Should you get too far, he'll just teleport to the gen you'Re closest to and find you anyway.
3) I don't really have an argument for this because that's survivor 101. This point is fine.
My issue with Freddy is that he does everything with literally zero risk and zero skillcap. He's brainless and unhealthy for the game. His counterplay is honestly a joke and he is in need of a massive rework or some really hard nerfs. Killers in DbD should have a specific focus that they excel at. For example: If you're anti-loop, then your mobility shouldn't be as strong as a high mobility killer. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have anything to help in your kit, but my god a killer that has such strong anti-loop potential should not be able to teleport across the map faster than Blight, for example. It's actually dumb.

Oh right. I played Undertale many years ago and forgot about that.
-
The fact that BHVR has expressed interest in a proper tournament mode means they have enough interest to warrant that investment. This means DbD's players will skyrocket as it becomes more competitive. DbD isn't going anywhere, despite what salty killer mains think.
-
Bruh. You had a legitimate Rank 14 in your lobby who you basically tunneled out of the game as evident by their points. No fear of DS either as there's no obsession perks. And then you couldn't juggle 3 other survivors quickly enough to pip? Lol. WITH NoED? Bruh. BRUH. BRUHHHHHHHH.

Chara is too much of a pacifist to fare well in The Entity's realm. If we're gonna talk theoretical RPG heroes that would actually squash The Entity...my vote is on Class VII.

That's honestly a nice sentiment. And I applaud you for taking a moment to think about the well-being of your own mental state and that of other players. @Clevite said:
I think the solution is to just get better at killer. I am sorry if people feel differently but there are very few SWFs that are optimal survivors. In fact 4 optimal solos are just as hard to defeat as 4 man optimal SWFs.
And if you play at red ranks, well you probably face at least some permutation of SWF as is. Are you losing every game? Because not every SWF is seal team 6 running full meta builds.
I'd argue that regular 4 man SWFs are actually overly altruistic, so much so that an experienced killer can use that against them.
If you are the kind of player that blames every loss you have on SWFs, perhaps you need to search deeper within yourself and examine the weaker parts of your game.
Omg. Someone with sense on the forums. Where have you been all this time?
-
Oh good lord. The counter to SWF has, and always will be, to counter their altruism. Altruism is a SWF's worst enemy because they're all sitting on comms saying, "Save me!". If you know, without a doubt, that you got a SWF there's always some dude running to the hook to save their teammate if they're not already there.
Also stop chasing survivors not on gens if you can't find anyone off the bat or in between hooks. For every survivor that's not on a gen there's most likely three that are. Killer isn't complicated. Stop being a bad killer and blaming everything on communications or perks. Learn to be smart and play effectively.

If you are on console, how do you know that you are matched with PC players?
A Player on PC can be matched with players from Xbox, PS, Switch and Windows store. Only Windows store is on PC aswell and doesn't have a big playerbase as far as I know (I have never seen a crossplay icon when it used to be steam/Windows store only crossplay), so if a PC player is matched with a crossplay player, there is a high chance that it is a console player but that shouldn't work the other way around.
To my knowlegde both Xbox and PS have big playerbases (a poll in this forum came to the conclusion that about 1/3 play on PC, 1/3 on Xbox and 1/3 on PS, it's obviously hard so tell if the poll is representative or not) so it is likely that you are matched with players from a different console (or it might be a mixture of PC and Console).
I've heard that console is a bit more strict with names, but none of the names in your Video contained bad words (unless you count "dirty" but console isn't that strict, or is it?), so how do you know that you have been matched with PC?
Exactly as you said. You can tell by their names. Longer words, less restrictions. And if you're sitll unsure you can watch how they loop. PC players 360 differently than on console and is a dead giveaway.

Funnily enough this is my exact experience with console players. Maybe, just maybe, people are biased based on their experiences.
I mean its to the point where I'm stockpiling games to make a series on my YouTube channel documenting console vs pc players on DbD. So, I wouldn't say I'm biased. I have plenty of evidence and I get more daily.
-
Have you played with PC players? They're the biggest babies I've ever gamed with. They go down in seconds as most of 'em can't loop and then either dc or kill themselves on hook. And if they don't kill themselves on hook they're doing stupid stuff like searching chests when gens need to be popped. So, ya, not a fan. If it wasn't for the fact that PC killers are a challenge compared to console killers I'd be turning crossplay permanently off.

Yeah but you can say that for every killer. The top 1% of players are always gonna be good at whatever they choose to play. Lol. Wraith is a trash killer but I've gone against some damn good Wraiths. Wraith was still worthy of some type of buff.

You know there's a problem when people find out its a Demogorgon and are excited to loop him. Demo is in need of some type of buff or rework or something. There's absolutely zero fear outta me if I'm up against a Demogorgon. Zero. If he finds me first at the start of the match I'm more than comfortable looping him for 4-5 gens because I know he has too much counterplay. I just know to stay away from long hallways or shack.

Yet killers will complain and complain about DS and unbreakable. They're just playing the way they want. :D
