No, we don't need perks specifically designed to grief.
-
The game is fine as is in regards to gore. Sure, it'd be nice to have more, but it's not necessary and would detract from the gameplay. That stuff is better suited for a PvE experience, like Dead Space.
-
I asked you this in your other thread, @azame, but you seem to open these and then abandon them after making just a few replies. I'll just quote myself:
@Orion said:
Have you ever considered that you could just be wrong?
I see this a lot in discussions, online and offline. One person (or group) claims something that is just objectively wrong, like vaccines causing autism or that 5G causes COVID-19, and the majority, naturally, presents them with the facts.
The minority group then comes up with rationales as to why the majority is wrong and/or misguided. Usual excuses are: "it's a conspiracy" (followed by either accusations that the majority "fell for it" or that they're somehow "in on it"), the majority is engaging in a "circle jerk", the majority is "biased" against them, and so on.
At no point does the minority group stop to think "Y'know, maybe I'm the one who's wrong", even though they objectively and demonstrably are. Vaccines don't cause autism, 5G doesn't cause COVID-19, and Deathslinger has counters.
The forum is not killer-biased, you're getting responses based on other people's experience, but you always find some excuse to dismiss it. At some point, you just have to consider the possibility that you are the one who is biased (and wrong).
EDIT: For the record, I'm not saying Deathslinger has counters because the majority says he does, since that's a fallacy (argumentum ad populum). I'm saying that Deathslinger has counters and that the majority recognizes that. Those are two separate things.
Obviously this applies to your general feelings about killers as well, not just your belief that Deathslinger lacks counters.

Im always kinda confused by how people are banned here - some people get that little jail icon? Is it like a warning to not be a dick then they ban your account?
I've seen literal trolls just banned (thank you mods) while others people with like thousands of posts get that jail icon
Being jailed restricts the number of comments you can make in a certain amount of time and also makes it impossible for you to open threads and polls. It's not the same as being banned.

You would think so, but my xbox one x doesnt handle it that well. It should be better than my old PC, but it doesnt. My old PC at medium graphics and 100% resolution gets 43 fps which feels so smooth compared to my one x.
Yeah, I was gonna add something like "But 'should' isn't exactly a guarantee nor what you want to hear when you're having problems", but I forgot.

It says next gen will have better graphics but didnt mention anything about better performance.
It should have better performance based solely on the fact that it'll have considerably better hardware and architecture (or so I hear).

that's exactly right.
in fact, as soon as the thread was closed there has been an overwhelming amount of new topics talking about console problems and/or asking why the original was closed.
Was it worth it? Was it helpful for the clarity of the board? Is it easier for the mods to moderate a number of threads instead of a single one? And, most of all, was this a good de-escalation tactic?
Hell, if the problem was the bumping they could have pinned the post, instead of the umpteenth "design your own perk!" one ;)
I'll let you all decide by yourselves.
What's there to de-escalate, exactly, if people were as peaceful as you claim? And why should they reward people breaking the rules instead of enforcing them without playing favorites?
I'll let you all decide for yourselves as well.

People bashing Devs unnecessarily? Unnecessary. Unless it's proper criticism, bashing the devs is not needed and I have seen it a bit.
History? Remember the Optimisation patch that was promised and it came off as a "pass" that I didn't even notice? After that it makes it extremely hard to trust them on this subject when they do that. It even had a roadmap i'm pretty sure.
The game on console with memory leaks, low frame maps etc is borderline unplayable in certain situations. This isn't something that "oh the devs will see feedback and might fix it", it not a balancing choice where "oh i personally don't think X killer is OP". This is something that genuinely needs to be fixed and is a problem. The devs frankly need to look into the issue we are proposing to fix it due to how much it effects console players.
All I want is updates. I just want them to say "We know console op is an issue, and we are working on it".
EDIT: Reworded something and grammar.
"Optimization" is a complex process, it's not as easy as just having one patch where it all gets magically fixed. I've spent days optimizing just one part of one feature of a program I wrote, and that was nowhere near as complex as a full-blown multi-platform game. A "pass" is a much better descriptor of what optimization means. With that said, the pass was noticeable to me on PC, and back then I definitely recall hearing console players praising it as well (not too much, though).
Regarding updates, you've already been told - repeatedly - that the (extremely valid) complaints were sent to the dev team. At this point, you just have to wait for their response. Complaining more isn't going to get it done faster because that's not how anything works.

Oh ok.
Well, let me introduce myself.
I'm the thread starter of the topic that was closed.
I've read every reply that was there - that's barring the ones the mods deleted before anybody could read them.
I'm telling you, that topic was absolute heaven, compared to every other topic in the board.
If you don't believe me, go and read it. All of it, of course. It's here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/179630/bhvr-can-we-acknowledge-fps-on-console-is-awful-since-4-1-0/p1
I'm telling you this because I never saw your nickname in that thread, so I suspect, but I might be wrong, that you have no idea what you are talking about. We'll be waiting here when you finished reading it.
Sincerely,
a concerned console player
I'm not gonna read that entire thread, that's just ridiculous. On the first page alone, however, I see one person calling the devs liars, another calling them idiots, four bumps, and a few accusations of "devs don't care". That's the kind of stuff that gets threads locked, and it's the kind of stuff I'd like to avoid.
-
What I want is for people to describe their issues without insulting the devs or breaking other rules so that threads like this don't get closed because of some users saying stuff like "devs bad, lul" while everyone else justifies/accepts/excuses that behavior.
Additionally, I want people to be honest about the devs' history instead of calling them liars all the time and saying they never follow through with anything.
Finally, I want people to stop conflating "feedback" with "commands that the devs must follow no matter what". You'll (using a generic "you", I don't mean you specifically) have more realistic expectations when you understand the relationship between developer and customer, which will help prevent needless disillusionment.
-

So out of all of the feedback, these are the only examples you can think of? Thats kind of sad actually
I didn't say "feedback", that was you. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that just because we propose something, the devs automatically have to make it happen. They do not. We're not their boss, we're their customers. Feedback is important, but it's not the only thing the devs are going to look at when making decisions. Games like that inevitably end up becoming trash.
I also said it was off the top of my head, so excuse me if I can't remember every single thing they said they'd do and then did.

Devs following through? What kind of loopy land have I entered? The devs ignore a ton of valid feedback. How did old Legion make it past the PTB? How did Deathslinger?
Now, the devs have done fantastic work, dont get me wrong, but saying that they consistantly follow through is wrong
You're confusing "ignoring" for "not doing exactly what the feedback says". The devs do the latter, like any rational human being would and should given all the contradictory feedback. Some people thought old Legion and Deathslinger were just fine. Others did not. So when you say they "ignored" the feedback, what you really mean is that they didn't do what you wanted.
Let's run the list, shall we?
- Graphical upgrade? Currently being worked on.
- Camping penalty? Done.
- More licensed killers? Done.
- More lore? Done.
- MMR? Currently being worked on.
- Hillbilly rework? Done.
- Leatherface rework? Done.
- Legion rework? Done.
- Freddy rework? Done.
- Nurse rework? Done.
That's just off the top of my head.

They wont be. The notification on the main discussion makes the fact that they are abandoning current gen VERY clear
I've heard similar claims before about, well, everything. Then the devs follow through and nobody so much as apologizes for their "totally legit criticism" (insults) of the devs.

True, but the front page regularly has multiple threads all dedicated to one specific perk or killer that are allowed to flourish seperately
Yet they shouldn't be and it is, in fact, one of the main complaints on the forum.

hey really don't want their discussion flooded with console optimization threads because it would give them a bad rep.
Or maybe other people would also like to discuss things besides console optimization without having their threads buried.

Hatch is a necessary evil to prevent a survivor from being placed in an unwinnable situation through no fault of their own. If you can think of a better mechanic to accomplish that, I'm sure the devs would love to hear it.

A friend of mine said MMR was working perfectly for him, every match felt fair.

I'm asking why though. Like, doesn't it get tiring being "that guy" who uses DS, unbreakable, adrenaline, deadhard? Like, sure perks like for the people, autodidact and solidarity aren't meta but they're fun to use.
They're playing to win, remember? Fun is subjective. You consider it fun to experiment, they consider it fun to use the most optimal builds.

Playing the game isn't sweating but playing like your actual life depends on it is a bit much
And how can you tell the difference?
-
Given that many people seem to think performing an interaction 15% faster will reduce its completion time by 15%, it's not surprising to me that the devs figured it was best to keep it simple.
-
@MargretAtWalmart said:

What exactly do you define as "sweaty", then? Because it's really just playing to win.

Web dev here. Having the wiki only show detailed descriptions on mouseover is, quite frankly, awful for user experience. If you're playing the game and bring up the wiki on your phone (for example) to quickly check a perk/addon should be painless instead of having to scroll and try to tap.
If there isn't a better place for people to go and check things, ping me. I can put together a quick, easy to use minisite if there's demand for one.
Did you actually try bringing up the wiki on your phone before criticizing? Mouse-over isn't enabled there, like it explicitly says in the description of the function; rather, the values are displayed in a small font.

Yeah but looping optimally is by far the best way to buy time and win games. Even against spirit if you guess right and avoid being injured optimal looping will win you the game.
Can you not loop optimally? The way you type that gives me reason to believe so.
I hardly give a ######### any more in PvP, so I don't really try to play optimally in most PvP games. It's too much of a pain in the ass and requires short bursts of hyperfocus, which is exhausting to my ADHD brain. When a killer has sufficiently pissed me off or the mood strikes, however, I can give them a literal run for their money.

There are other ways to play survivor. Don't try to gatekeep playing survivor or having opinions on survivor gameplay.

It seems a lot of people read the title but not the thread. When I read the comments, I feel as if they think I am referring to the ability to be rescued off the hook, which I am not. I am referring to the 4% chance to kobe off the hook. I have editted the title to address this misunderstanding.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579298#Comment_1579298
No. The game is over. Once I slug all 4 survivors and none of them have Unbreakable, the only thing left for me to do is camp the hook until every survivor reaches struggle phase. They have 0 chance to win in this scenario.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579540#Comment_1579540
Lol at the people that cannot do math. Let me make even simplier. Assume no survivors were previously hooked. Each survivor has 3 chances to kobe. There are 4 survivors, so there are 4*3= 12 chances in total. Each kobe has a 4% chance to succeed. The probablility that at least 1 kobe succeeds is 1-(1-0.04)^4*3 = 0.387 = 38.7%. Here is a video explaining this concept https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwjQaJ5xt1o. This is simple highschool math. If you cannot manage this, I do not want to talk to you.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1579450#Comment_1579450
It's a constant 4% chance every time a survivor attempts to kobe assuming no luck offerrings. The first code you wrote is what I am referring to. Every time a survivor attempts a kobe, this occurs:
num = rand(100);
if num<5 then escape = true
Read my previous paragraphy for an explanation of why the odds are 38.7% for at least 1 survivor successfully kobing.

"there's a 4% chance to escape off the hook and you get 3 attempts, so the odds that a single survivor escapes is 1-0.96^3 = 11.5%. Now there are 4 survivors, so the odds that one out of 4 survivor escapes is 1-(1-0.115)^4 = 38.7%"
OP did math... It is false, but whatever, even 50% is not worth of camping. :P

why should killers be given an easy mode for free?
They shouldn't and they aren't. Not unless survivors chase, injure, down, and hook themselves.
-
We don't need more ways to taunt players, we need fewer.
-
Yes, but without the Overcharge "you can complete this skill check as you move" BS, because that's just gen tapping all over again.

Why should a killer's offering benefit survivors?

Did anybody say that tunneling and camping should be bannable? Because they really should. Devs said it's "a killer tech", but how can be a tech if it's hurting you more then giving you anything back? If you tunnel and camp you are literally throwing away your gen defense, the only thing you wanna achieve is being toxic toward that person, therefore, it should be bannable 100%.
Survivors reward it all the time by stopping gen progression, which is the main reason why killers keep doing it. Even if survivors didn't stop all gen progression the instant someone is hooked and then stay around the hook even if that person is being camped, making you lose is not toxic.
-
Ignore them, but try to pretend it frustrates you. They'll follow you around, essentially turning the trial into a 3v1 because they're not working on generators. Much easier to deal with.
