Can confirm. I'm currently on death row for teabagging too much. It's been nice knowing you guys.
Don't worry, I'll be present at your execution.

While I agree, it does result in the survivor who DIDN'T have a say in the matter getting punished. It's not a case of a survivor getting punished for their own mistakes
Indeed, which is why hook farming needs to have in-game consequences like being Broken or downed, not just point deductions or whatever.

So waste a perk slot just in case it might be one killer with one specific addon?
If it's such a rare occurrence, why are you making such a big deal about it?
Anyway, it's not a waste if you can't deal with it yourself. That's literally what perks are for, to help you deal with things you can't deal with through your skill alone (or to complement your existing skills).
-
This isn't hardcore tunneling, this is survivors unhooking in the worst possible situation and expecting no consequences.

@Orion We're venturing slightly off topic (my fault), and this isn't a major issue for me. But: while there are no point in trying to figure out survivors' different builds, there are a lot of killers dodging lobbies based on friend lists/countries when they suspect SWF-teams. I've seen it multiple times and I'll admit I've done it a few times myself.
I've been dodged myself. Trust me, I know. However, that's still nothing compared to the major shitstorm that occurred when survivors were dodging lobbies left and right, believe me.
-
You can't. Players cannot affect the matchmaker in any way.
-
In-game, it does nothing.

Yeah, I could see that. But wouldn't this apply to survivors as well?
If there was considerable variety in survivor builds, or if killers actually went to the trouble of doing that, you might have a point, but neither is true.
-
Probably not. When survivors could see the killers' profiles, many of them dodged for every reason they could think of, but basically they dodged because the killer killed them. This broke lobbies (literally, it bugged lobbies so they would never be filled) and massively increased queue times for everyone who didn't dodge.

NOED is a crutch perk. As a killer main, if you run noed you are bad the game and bad at your job. Period.
All perks are crutches.

every other "invisible" or TR-hiding killer has some other means of detection that doesn't require wasting a perk slot on
i'm just going to say that you're probably a really bad survivor player if you're actually trying to argue that premonition is a good perk, and even if it was good, that it's necessary in order to counter stealthier killers
the rest of your post is just hot air. i've explained why prayer beads has no counter, and on top of that why running a perk doesn't constitute counterplay, and you dance around this by saying "many things" have no gameplay counter without actually mentioning any
it's obvious that i'm talking to someone with a really poor understanding of survivor play so i'll just leave it at that
I never said it was necessary to counter stealthier killers. That's something you made up.
I'm not a top survivor player, no. I'm above average at best.
I didn't mention any because I can tell you're not even open to the idea of using anything other than what you're already using to counter a single-use add-on. You want everything to have a gameplay counter because you want to have your cake and eat it too. Anything I'd say to you will fall on deaf ears.
You're really not, sweetheart. Despite what you may believe, I'm basically a survivor main at this point. The majority of my trials for a while now have been SWF.
-
@miaasma said:
premonition is an awful perk
independent of that, telling someone to run a perk in order to counter a killer's addon is such an absurd suggestion that it's astounding to me that i need to point it out. running a perk is not counterplay. you should be able to counter something using gameplay independent of perks, and no such thing is possible against prayer beads. ergo, it has no counterplay
thanks for playing
Have you actually used Premonition before? Like, ever?
It's not just about the add-on, it's also about the Phase Walk itself. If you don't want to use an extremely useful perk that counters every invisible killer and killer who can hide their TR except the Shape at EWI, that's on you, though.
There are many things that have no gameplay counter. I'd mention some, but you'd just pretend they have gameplay counters, just like you're pretending Premonition is a bad perk.

If you want to play F13th, you can.

Have you actually tried using Premonition?
-
Bring in NOED.
-
Indeed. I'm glad you were able to learn something about Premonition today. Specifically, that it triggers off of both the husk and the actual Spirit as she's phase-walking. I also look forward to you switching out one perk that you don't need to one that you clearly do need.

that's besides the point though; she can hear someone working on a generator and that person cannot hear her, ergo she gets gen grabs for free
She does, actually, as does every other killer. Do you play this game?
Use Premonition. Always helped me against the Spirit, the Pig, the Wraith, and so on.

you absolutely cannot hear that noise with the volume of the sounds a generator makes
this is the worst justification for prayer beads i've ever read
She can't hear you either over the sound of a generator, so it all works out, I suppose.

I don't, that's absurd.

Typical potatoes you are the kind that derank , use broken perks etc... i hope dedicated servers will ban players like you. i like nurse play as and against this is a real challenge. Only Omega/3/4/5 blinks need nerfs.
Even if the devs increase it, a joystick will never be the same as a mouse when it comes to quick, precise movements. Joysticks are better for character movement and driving, not so much aiming.

@Pike_Trickfoot @FireHazard That's a player problem that no system can solve. For people like that, rank rewards won't do anything to curb their behavior.

But still, whats the point if we get nothing from ranking up yet...
What's the point of having a better matchmaking system and having rank be more representative of skill?
-
@FireHazard said:

@Peanits I just don't see the point if we have no rewards yet for ranking up to rank 1. Like I get it, its supposed to keep people who're not at that skill-set out of the red ranks as it was really easy to get there. But still, most games feel like a slog when you know that since 3 generators were done you'll just get a brutal killer.
Like, it shouldn't be the way it was before, but it shouldn't be this difficult either if you're getting nothing from it, people still de-pip, people still go back to lower ranks, and this just makes it easier while being rewarded for it with BPs from that match.
It's meant to improve the matchmaker as well, since rank will be more representative of skill.

Recent thought: I wonder how much it would help console players improve with Nurse if the Plaid Flannel add-on was a Common instead of Very Rare. I imagine competent Nurses don't use it anyways.
As I understand it, the problem with Nurse on console is the fact that a joystick doesn't allow for the same quick movements as a mouse.

Speaking as someone who sabbos occasionally, it's also to get a lot of points while trying to depip or if somewhat weak in chase and to give the survivor (who is often bored of the norm) something additional to do. It really isn't to make the killer's trial miserable, though. Most of the time if you're sabboing, you're wasting time for a chance to maybe save someone. That time is valuable for survivors, too, not just killers. It's less about making killers miserable and more about the "told you so" moment 'cause nearly every teammate would mock you for sabboing (rightfully so, it wastes time) and for the rush of saving someone.
I was referring to when neither hooks nor traps regenerated.
-
@Redd said:

The real problem is that even when they didn't respawn, it's more effective more often to use toolboxes on generators then bear traps; and Saboteur has not been the meta in years.
Saboteur was never about efficiency, it was about denying hooks and points, and making the killer's trial as miserable as possible.

Nope not new at all, have only ever seen people just snap them. Never seen anyone actually sabo one.
Define "not new at all". The game has been out for a total of three years, and sabotage was all the rage when it came out due to the fact that neither hooks nor traps regenerated.
-
Yes. You must be very new if that's the case.
-
@Judith said:
Ok. Now I see what kind of people you are also in the game.
I'm the kind who will let you die if it means my escape and will tell my SWF to do the same to me. I'm the kind who will stop struggling on the hook to give someone else the hatch, if they've found it. I'm the kind who treats others as they expect to be treated, because I'm the kind who's not a hypocrite.
Your escape is not more important than mine, and my escape is not more important than yours. If your death means I escape, I will gladly take it, and so should you.

Teabagged the hatch? Survivors do that to tell you to stop struggling on the hook so they can get the hatch.

Claim from a member of the dev team > anecdote from some random on the forums
I don't see a claim, I see a guess. Peanits doesn't know the internal workings of the matchmaker any more than we do.
-
@Madjura said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/521830#Comment_521830
Personal anecdote, impossible to verify. Could simply be a case of the matchmaking loosening the restrictions due to being unable to create a match.
Or maybe the matchmaking is just completely broken, like so many other things (Ghost Face on PTB, vanilla experiment PTB, for two very recent examples) and just assigns the group leader a random rank for matchmaking and uses that. It certainly wouldn't be surprising to learn that yet another system is completely busted and doesn't work the way it's supposed to
So is the claim that the game uses the rank of whoever creates the SWF group, but you're willing to not only accept those anecdotes as evidence, but even present them as fact.
-
I can confirm this is not what's happening. I think it uses an average of all the ranks in the group. Otherwise, I'd be getting purple rank killers nonstop when I play SWF instead of mostly yellow rank killers.

SMH, if he has Iri King and Distressing, you will all be in Madness 3 the whole time. If he shocks you into Madness 3 he can leave you for 20s and shock someone else. It's just a revolving door of being in Madness 3.
Again, it's clear you never actually had to play against someone doing this EXPLICITLY to keep the gens from being done. If you did you would see what you can't "just repair the gens".
So give up and report him.
-
@jimmy5577 If they started banning streamers for bragging about things they didn't do, 90% of all streamers would be banned.

@prayer_survivor said:
90% of killers are campers and tunnelers. The other 9% are sluggers. You can't do anything to avoid it. They think they had lose if they don't make 4k.
Only thing that can change this is play 50% surv and 50% killer.
Source for the stats? Because MoM's rework had to stop counting safe unhooks due to how easy it was to get them, meaning that the majority of killers do not, in fact, camp.

What I mean is that if he has an obvious option to catch someone or they just give themselves up but he doesn't take it, only continues to keep them from doing gens then it is holding the game hostage.
I've had Docs do this, where they don't even take chases they could 100% win. They won't even come out of treatment.
Like you really want to defend this kind of BS?
I already agreed that your scenario is indeed holding the game hostage (though I still got downvotes, funny how that works). Go back several comments and you'll see.
However, in my admittedly limited experience, what you describe doesn't happen. In my experience, survivors don't let themselves get caught. They keep playing like normal, and then accuse the killer of not letting them win by chasing the obvious bait.
-

If he doesn't even take the freebies then he is holding the game hostage.
Killers are there to kill, not to stall the game indefinitely.
What freebies? Chasing obvious bait and letting everyone else work on generators?
