That's not gonna work at all.
I wouldn't put it past exploiters to find some way to benefit from it.

I believe the term is "spaghetti code." Where everything overlaps and affects other things.
Indeed. That stems from the fact that the publisher put them on a limited budget with limited time, so they cut corners wherever they could.

@Orion From the creative writing and the literature classes I've taken, it's actually very important to exclude insignificant items. Like if someone is described or is the main focus of the camera (for like games and movies), it has to have some sort of significance to the story. The superhero stuff is fun, though. c: Gl with your craft!
@fluffymareep From the few books I've read, authors can ######### on those classes and even basic ######### grammar and be considered geniuses.
Have you heard of José Saramago? He's a Portuguese writer who won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Many of his books contain little to no punctuation and ignore grammatical rules, which makes them very difficult to read and would get any student an F (since, y'know, the stuff he writes has no ######### punctuation). However, many people praise him as one of the best Portuguese writers to have ever lived.

Third person is necessary, I still don’t understand how you guys don’t get this.
without third person there would be no looping, while you guys think this would be cool looping is necessary because going down every chase and never winning chases would be boring.
You wouldn’t be a able to dodge any killer attack, you wouldn’t be able to see michael (and now ghost face) stalking you, you’d be instantly downed.
Survivors can’t fight back, so their advantage is camera, not to mention repairing a gen me starring straight into it sounds fun!
Did you read the OP? Dude's asking to stop giving stealth killers obvious cues because of the third person camera, not to take away the third person camera.

I won't ask for details if I'm wrong but isn't the Wake Up bug just passive and something you benefit from just by having? Or is this another perk that's bugged?
A few things are bugged at the moment.
@Jonathanskilz said:
@Orion Using a perk in game that the devs made. Its very easy to just say just dont exploit Pepega but at the end of the day casual players who goes on and play everyday cause double blodpoints want more blodpoints so they use that and then get banned because they never go on the forum we need a notification in game... or on the forum
Well, you know it's bugged, so it's easy to tell you not to exploit because you're doing it on purpose.
-
All exploits are bannable. It's right there in the rules. Don't exploit and you don't run the risk of being banned.
-
A bug is the developer's mistake, yes, but the choice to exploit is yours and yours alone.

Dude there is like 10 pallets at max stop over exaggerating and just take the stun break the pallet move on them wasting pallets helps end game when there is none left coz one person has used them all
Every map has a minimum of 16 pallets. It's one of the spawn rules.
-
@Paladin_Goo said:
Stop using them immediately. That exploit for legion has been bannable for months.
As well - don't compare the bug with wake up to the legion exploit. It doesn't even compare. Not that wake up isn't broken, but it's not on the level of the Legion exploit.
This is partly false. It was a different bug that was bannable. The devs have made no statement regarding this one. However, exploiting has always been bannable, so if you find anyone exploiting - killer or survivor - be sure to report them.

@jeyers said:
counter it and deal with it are the same thing and both means very little against noed
either u waste time looking for all totems = killer win
or
you do gens and if u live to all 5 are done u get 1 shot = killer win
and only killer can have perks that make an impact on the game like that because using m1 one more time is just not fun yes
Dealing with the perk after it activates is not the same thing as countering it. Unless it's a hex perk, of course, because those can be taken away at any time without the killer being able to do anything about it.
I've had trials where every totem was broken and still a majority of the survivors escaped. Maybe you're just not as good as you think.
-
@jeyers said:
potentially counterable perk that u cant even be sure the killer has (mettle has obsession for at least 1 surv) and u use extra time in a match that you should be using to escape yeah no good comparison
how can survivor see the killer has noed except when hes already downed one with it ? yeah ok then
You do know there are other obsession perks, right?
If it keeps you from escaping, you have two choices: counter it or deal with it. You don't get to ignore a perk's perfectly clear and simple counters and also ignore the perk's effects. That's just how the game works.
-
@jeyers said:
its not an investment at all when the objective is to escape, can you open doors cleansing totems ? no ok then
you spend extra time = cost, to potentially disable a broken killer perk. yea that is fair right
If the completely counterable perk keeps you from escaping because you lack the skill to deal with it, then it's an investment.
-
@jeyers said:
it still has a cost in time - which the game is all about - time management. and even so if u invest perk slots to counter this broken noed perk you still are not guaranteed to break all totems then ur time was wasted right
No, your time was invested. This game is also about risk management.
If you can't avoid NOED using your own skill, you have two choices: invest time and effort into countering it, or do nothing and hope you get lucky.
-
@jeyers said:
and killers can click m1 again to down mettle
Disabling a perk before it ever activates is a counter. Dealing with a perk's effects after it's been activated is not.
-
@jeyers said:
noed is better now then it was just for the time invested survivors must do to potentially play around it and that is no guarantee they did so in success.
Even after it activates it can still be destroyed. You also have Dark Sense, Small Game, Premonition, eyeballs, and a bunch of other perks and basic human features that can help you avoid NOED.
-
If you break all the totems, you successfully nerf NOED.

That’s pretty cool that you’re making a game, do you mind if I ask what it’s about/what’s the setting?
@Orion what genre is the book/book concept? My friend did a creative writing course at uni so I was constantly getting their work to read over as drafts. Writing is definitely a difficult passion and writer’s block is tough. Do you do a lot of reading, and what’s your favourite book/author/genre if so?
I guess I’m making a scarecrow costume (Gotham tv show one) if that counts if not I guess I do digital art, trying to practice anatomy and colouring techniques in my spare time. Like Orion music helps while I’m doing art and colouring a piece, helps me focus and back when I used to do a little writing it can help with inspiration/mood setting while writing a specific scene (but as you mentioned it’s easier to focus if it’s instrumental so I used to listen to gaming OSTs or techno).
For the costume and the occasional masks I make I tend to make a list of all the parts and draw concept images and make notes on what materials I could use, then I break it down into parts to make per month, that way I can set out a timeline to have components completed by, for these references are everything and getting a massive compilation is important.
Superhero-type thing with sci-fi elements thrown in (takes place in the future, has teleporters, alternate universes, that sort of thing). For the sci-fi portions I'm drawing on my knowledge of physics and trying to push beyond the boundaries of this universe to imagine whole new ones.
I don't enjoy reading, in fact. I find most authors would rather spend fifteen paragraphs describing a room than just getting on with the story. I like Chekhov's approach to writing (though not that I've read his work): if something doesn't add to the story, don't waste the reader's time on it.
-
I'm working on a book. Usually I listen to music while reading the stuff I've already written and the rest just flows out. It helps that I've already laid everything out, the story and characters and whatnot. All that's left is to actually write it.

From what i have seen it's kind of a more fast paced dead by daylight with guns.The whole idea of the game is similar to dead by daylight.Multiple survivors trying to survive against a blood thirsty killer.
That could be any asymmetrical game, honestly.
-
Rank is not the be all and end all of skill, but it does matter somewhat. The problem is that people derank, and the more they derank, the less rank matters.
-
Deathgarden is very different from DbD. Hunters there are an actual threat, for starters. If you get caught, you'll most likely die, period. The gameplay also features high mobility.
Personally, I think it's a fun game.

@Nicholas said:
Mori's aren't fun to go against and why people DC when they see them. There is no skill associated with them and no counter. Same with TS. Not to mention, no Survivor equiv for either. What about only working on death hook? That would be more fair. Or succeeding a difficult Skill Check to fight back and get away?
Survivors DC when facing any killer on any map using any (or no) perks and any (or no) add-ons. Same goes for killers. Therefore, everything should be nerfed. This is the logical conclusion of your thought process.
On the other hand, we can simply recognize that people DC because they're salty and not reward them for doing so.

Why is advertising shameful? Is it somehow more honorable to sit at the bottom of the directory with 0 views and get views by accident? My viewership triples on average if I just put ttv in my name. If even 20% of those people follow my channel, that's incredible for 3 keystrokes worth of work. It's insanely difficult to get views as a new streamer in a saturated game like DbD.
I get that (especially since I've never used my name as an advertisement), but now look at it from the other side. People don't like ads, and you've essentially turned your name into one. It'd be like going on a bus and having a random guy acting out an ad for his company or whatever.

Ok, let's talk this through.
What "punish" do you think would prevent a "camper"?
No Emblem Points?
Less Blood Points?
Do you really believe that points matters at that points?
The ultra competitive killers don't camp in the first place, because it is inefficient to rank up, unless the other 3 survivors dances around the hook like strippers around a pole.
So the casual happy camper will camp you no matter what.
If you have a camper just do gens and force him of the hook. otherwise be happy that he wasted all his time on one hook.
And if you are the one on the hook.
You misplayed on the first place and now just take one for the team and buy them some time.
But I am open for creative solutions.
I say incentive, you ask about punishments. Can you see why this might be an issue?
-
Alternative:
- It was a Huntress that, like every killer with a brain, knows to ignore survivors who want to be chased, since they're most likely loopers and aren't working on generators while they're trying to bait you.
- She's just bad at finding survivors, but good at winning chases, just like some survivors are good at hiding and bad at winning chases.
- Didn't know the hatch could be closed, or just feels like the EGC is unfair.

I thought it would be good perk for saves but seems like it wont.
2 meters is plenty in choke points and when you're hiding in a locker. The problem seems to be that the stun happens after you jump out of the locker, so people can't get the timing right.
-
About 2 meters, I think.

Because he learned of the blood web after entering the trials where time is not linear and can jump forward and back, he probably came across another survivor from 1896 and took that as the year he signed for the blood web (i don't remember seeing dates on the later journal entries so it is possible he realized this and gave up on dating his works)
No, that's just a plothole.

I know exactly what you said. You said it was an opinion when it's a fact dude. If you truly believe my statement about BBQ was an opinion when it was once mention by the devs was made to reward players who didn't camp and was one of band aid fixes to camping then I'm ending these replies here dude. Because at this point, you're trolling.
The opinion was regarding it being a built-in incentive, which was the point of contention from the very beginning.

You've played the game since lost yet assume my statement about why the devs made BBQ was an opinion?????????????? Bro, you're the one trying to deflect it by calling my fact an opinion then continously downvoting me. I don't know how you can claim to played this game since launch and not know what BBQ was made for?
I pointed out that the person you replied to was asking for a built-in incentive, which BBQ is not. You're pretending I said something else.

So you're telling me, you make a comment on someone's post that's asking for campers to be punish which they're and not know what the devs have tried to do to prevent camping? Then proceed to question my statement about BBQ? Then you proceed to straight up downvote my posts? Then assume that my comment on BBQ was an opinion when it was STATED in a DEV STREAM that the devs wanted to make a perk that rewards killers for not camping and eventually with the cannibal release, BBQ was that perk? The devs have also stated that camping was a VALID Strat and that they wouldn't punish camping then turn around and do it. I'm not sure where you been in this community yet camping has been a heated topic and dicussed by the devs and community IMMENSELY since the start.
Perhaps next time, instead of assuming the statement was my opinion and downvoting me, you should do your own research on the lovely history of camping in Dead by Daylight & how the devs how tackled the problems since you clearly didn't know that BBQ was once again, the perk made by the devs with the attempt to reduce camping and to reward killers who did not camp.
I've been playing this game since it launched. I know all about camping, including the devs failed attempts to fix it.
I assumed your statement was your opinion because you presented it as such. No more, no less. And you can try to deflect as much as you'd like, but if you'd been clear from the start about it not being your opinion, but the devs', we could've avoided this unpleasantness.
-

It's not my opinion. It's what the devs have said themselves. Why did you just ASSUME it was my opinion? I was simply answering the post.
I assumed it was your opinion because you presented it as such. You didn't say "the devs consider BBQ to be an incentive not to camp" or "according to the devs, BBQ is an incentive not to camp". You presented it without any indication that you might not agree with it.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/539993#Comment_539993
When they released BBQ they said thsmelves that they was hoping it would give killers the icentive to stop camping. They've also got rid of facecamping, killers still camp. You currently lose points in your emblem if you camp dude. They did all this to stop camping and it hasn't stop. It was a built in incentive by the devs. they added BBQ to rewards killers who didn't camp. I'm not the devs, go tell them it's not a built in incentive, not me, thanks.
So why'd you state something as if it were your opinion if you're just gonna jump ship as soon as it backfires and dump the responsibility on someone else?
-
@[Deleted User] said:

They tried that with BBQ
A built-in incentive is not the same thing as a perk you have to buy a DLC for, unlock the teachable, and then get it on every single killer you play.
-
You're more likely to get hit by lightning a million times in a row on the same spot while winning the lottery in a foreign country with a ticket you found on the ground than you are to be banned for this.

I doubt that. The mod community of Dark souls 1 created a fully functional AI fighting bot which is extremely strong but natural. Remember, ONE single guy who isn't even a developer created such an fighting bot, it would be quite easy for the devs to create the same
That one guy didn't have to work on literally anything else for DS1. He had no schedule, no deadlines, no pressure to succeed (because it didn't matter if he failed).
A fighting bot also has basically just four decisions to make during combat, besides movement: attack, block/parry, dodge, or heal. The movement itself is also pretty basic - you'll mostly be fighting on an even plane and avoiding dangerous surfaces.
Oh, and that was probably done after DS1's development stopped, so he didn't have to worry about updating the mod either. If you'd ever modded a game that's still being updated, you'd know every single update breaks those mods.
EDIT: And just out of sheer morbid curiosity, what kind of bugs does that fighting bot have, how exploitable is it, and how long did it take to make?

Sure, let's apply the democratic principle of "majority rules" to an asymmetrical game. What could possibly go wrong?
