Say you don't have either perk. What do you do then?

Yes.

@Orion Survivors will learn quickly. And when somebody makes severe mistakes, then they are going to lose. That's just how every game goes.
Games need to be balanced around good plays, not around one team making big mistakes.
A 2nd objective for survivors would also not only help with balance, it would also bring a new impulse to the game. ^^
It's been three years. They're not learning.

@Orion Only when it comes to camping. And that is fine. A camping killer will still lose the game.
But for those killers who don't camp and just need more time for their chases, a 2nd objective will make the game more balanced.
So, it's an improvement for the game.
Given that vulturous survivors are the primary reason why killers camp, this will just make it worse for the hooked survivors.

@Orion Currently it's like this: If the killer just camps, the survivors will win the game if they are smart and do their objective.
It should stay that way when a 2nd objective gets introduced.
A 2nd objective for survivors is supposed to give the killer more time for chasing survivors, not for camping to become an efficient strategy.
And yet, if you introduce the second objective and make it so the hook timer is proportionately longer, you end up right back where you started.
-
Yes, if all the generators are powered.

@FrenziedRoach We were talking about increasing the hook phase time when a 2nd objective gets implemented.
Not talking about increasing hook phase time at the current state of the game. Big difference.
What's the point of the second objective if you're going to change or introduce a mechanic that puts the game exactly where it was before the second objective?
-
IIRC, the devs added a 5-second cooldown to all audiovisual notifications.

Kinda funny considering a few years back they said only around 30% of Survivors are actually solo players.
I just noticed OP is no where to be found.
If you do the math properly, that's about the same percentage of solo lobbies nowadays as well.

In my defense, you said it as an addendum to a comment that was actually directed at me. Also, I'm the one downvoting you. So yeah, it was about me.

But you know, saying anything that isn't killer sided in these forums is asking to be downvoted because people can't be bothered to play both sides and be unbiased, so I know I'm wasting my time here.

Hey, your point was never if it was fine or not, you were arguing that it should be reverted because of the Enduring changes. I merely pointed out that this is not the way the devs determine balance changes.
The game didn't change in any significant way for these supposed stats to have changed to the point that increasing DS's stun by 2 seconds (66%) is balanced.
If DS was balanced at 3 seconds without Enduring, it's not balanced at 5 seconds without Enduring. This is basic logic.
-
A hotfix, an announcement that they'll go the same way as the Legion exploit and start banning players abusing these bugged perks, literally anything will do. I'd prefer the latter, however, to get rid of exploiters.
-
@gantes said:

That's not how devs decide if something should be nerfed or not.
They analyzed the current iteration for DS and reached the conclusion that it doesn't need nerfs. As simple as that.
It's funny, it was also fine at 3 seconds without Enduring, so how come at 5 seconds - also without Enduring - it's no different? Sounds like a poor excuse to ignore common sense to me.
-
@gantes said:

This scenario is irrelevant because NOED already counters Adrenaline as much as a perk should counter another perk.
If anything NOED has no business giving a speed boost because it's primary effect is already strong af. But I'm not the one here asking for nerfs for things that shouldn't be nerfed so w/e
The scenario is an example to show why people are asking for DS to be nerfed. Address the argument instead of nitpicking those details.

@tovelo said:
No one:
Killer mains: Nerf DS
Myself is a killer main too. I dont have anything wrong with DS though. Dont tunnel and i think you'll be fine
The perk was buffed explicitly because of its interaction with Enduring. Enduring was then changed so it only affected pallet stuns, yet DS remained the same. Does that seem fair to you?
Imagine if NOED was buffed to give the killer a massive speed boost to counter Adrenaline. Then imagine that Adrenaline was nerfed to no longer give the speed boost, yet NOED remained the same. Do you think that's fair? Do you think it makes any goddamned sense?

Yea, the math alone makes it worse. Why would 50% be more effective then 75%?
@BunnyTheHutt Because a reduction in time is not the same as an increase in recovery speed.

hey for the people that say the old,
you agree to terms and they can do what they want... no that is not true at all. At least in the EU, cause when your "User Agreement" or whatever you call it conflicts with the law, the terms get nullified.
Tell me is it okay in the states when you make "User agreement" point 5.0 Signing these you become a slave to the other party.
Will that hold up in court? I doubt it.
This is nowhere near what you're saying and you know it. Multiplayer games get regular updates to balance them out and introduce new content. Show me how that's illegal in any country on Earth.

Why are you vouching for someone who signs contracts without reading them and then expects the other party to follow the imaginary contract they had in their own mind?

yeah, NOED is like a gamble you take. you play with a handicap, but therefore have the chance of a big power up when you're about to fail.
the whole "chance" part is why i dislike the perk though. you basically give yourself a handicap but there is no guaranteed power up in the end... and if there is one, it can easily be removed.
id rather have a consistent perk that will stay with me the whole game than a perk that is reliant on luck and can be removed (yes, i generally dont run Hex perks)
Most survivors refuse to counter NOED, so it goes from "gamble" to "damn near metaphysical certainty".
It's like camping. You know you're taking a gamble that survivors will make their way to the hook, but then you also know they'll do it in the vast majority of cases.

You seriously want to use one (imaginary) example to justify your point? I mean, I can do that aswell, look:
"I played one game and noone touched dull totems. All 4 escaped, killer had no noed"
"the other game I played, we all destroyed all 5 dull totems, but we were to slow on gens and all died. Joke: killer had no noed"
It's a real example from a real game I played with @DocOctober. But hey, thanks for letting me know your new excuse.

You don’t have to hunts totems, there’s are only 5. If you happen to see one in route from gen to gen, cleanse it. When all gens pop, most times NOED will not be an issue.
If you insist on hunting then, use a map or ‘Small Game’...no looking required.
I was bored with gens, so I focused on totems. I still ended up repairing two gens, give or take.
-
@alphonsk said:

"hunt totems" yeah so you are that team mate not doing gens when necessary and beeing that useless sack killing all other 3 team mates and escape with hatch?
I mean, destroy a totem u see is already a decision you have to make depending on how the match goes, sometimes it's better to remember that spot and go for it if noed activates, other times its better do destroy it immediately.
HOWEVER, hunting dull totems is killing your team mates. Don't do that. Sit on gens.
I hunted dull totems and half the team escaped. One didn't escape because he suicided and the other was too dumb to run toward the exit after having stunned the killer with a pallet.
So what's your excuse?
-
Relentless makes you gain bloodlust roughly 1,1 seconds earlier. Pointless.
Shadow Watcher nullifies one of BBQ's counters, which is to be close to the hook. However, the killer would have to spend 2 perks to do it, so it's OK, according to the devs' philosophy.
Ferocious Manner is too RNG-y to be useful, IMO. You can't control when an unhook happens.

That's correct in that's what's Peanits was communicating to us, but if you stop to think about it, it's kind of extremely suspicious that the survival rate for rank 2 survivors is between 50 and 60% when the survival rate for rank 1 survivors is 43%. I really wouldn't put too much faith in the numbers they throw at us unless they give you enough information on how those numbers were obtained.
That was after they relaxed the pip requirements and flooded high ranks with noob survivors.

• Yes, I stuck around for the struggle and left when they had only a few pixels of time left. Had the Killer left a little bit early, I was potentially close enough to run and Unhook them.
• Yes, of course I could leave them but then that enters the realm of philosophical and moral dilemma, discounting that it's a game we're talking about. Even then, there's a whole thing about sportsmanship and the spirit of the game.
• I actually didn't know if the opportunity would never come.
• Well now I know but in this specific case, no there wasn't.
- In other words, you camped the hook, just like the killer. Your team could've repaired all the gens if you hadn't camped.
- It's a game. If you want to take the risk of unhooking, you can't complain that you actually suffer consequences, on occasion.
- I did and I wasn't even there. Because you said the killer was camping, I knew there wasn't a chance to unhook.
- There always was. The signal exists regardless of your awareness of it.
-
This would make the problem worse.
My objection is like saying that just because some players cheat doesn't mean you should put cheats into the game.
-
Playing with Myers at high ranks is not easy, and the same is true for all killers with ordinary mobility:
Survivors would just derank to avoid this.
-
@BismarckCane said:
assuming the killer has a 3k and more then one Gen, I am not sure why they care about the fourth kill so bad, if you get him then great but at what cost? 20 mins, he could have double piped with 100k BP in another match, for that time.
As a Killer, I give the last survivor the hatch or gate typically (mainly didnt want red ranks to fast from 2 pips) however often I will knock them down then take them to the gate.
(If they are toxic, they just go to a hook)
For the same reason that survivors don't let themselves get caught by the killer even if they're already pipped with plenty of BP and all of them are about to escape. The game's not over until it's over.

Go on? I made the post as a thought exercise in game design and would like to hear more.
Anything that's based on proximity to the hook is fundamentally flawed because survivors can force killers into certain areas. Furthermore, just from a game balance PoV, it makes no sense that the killer should be forced to allow for free unhooks.
Try thinking of rewards for leaving the hook instead of punishments for staying close. Keep in mind, however, that no matter what you do, camping will never go away as long as survivors reward it.
-
@Kuripi said:
• There was no real way to know what I was dealing with, with the first Hook.
• I couldn't leave the person on the hook to die if there was a chance to rescue them.
• My teammates were already working on the generators and we were all working on generators after the first person died from hook camping.
• There was no way to communicate that we had a hook camper
So, yes, we were working on generators and the Killer still came out ahead on points.
- True, but you stuck around for some time, according to what you said.
- Yes you could. You're not obligated to rescue anyone. I tell my current SWF mate to leave me on the hook all the time.
- You should've been working on generators as well instead of waiting for an unhook you knew would never come. It takes longer for a survivor to die than it does for generators to be repaired. The killer should not have gotten more than a single kill if you were working on generators.
- Yes there is. Spam self-unhook to indicate a camper. Make sure to tell your teammates in the pre-game chat to do the same so everyone's on the same page.
-
No.
-
@Kuripi said:
Yeah, I was just in a game where the Killer hook camped. I watched and waited until the Entity took my fellow survivor, hoping there was an opportunity to rescue them but the killer just stood there chopping at the victim on the hook. I started doing generators at that point but by the time everything was completed, there was one survivor on the hook and I was the only unhooked player left. I watched the killer a while to see if they would leave the hook to look for me but they just stood there chopping, so I opened the gate and waited some more until I had to leave. The post-game chat basically confirmed that the Killer was trying to extract salt and they ended up with the most points. Checking the killer's Steam profile, they had a couple of bans on record from other games too..
See how you rewarded the camper by camping yourself for some time? Work on generators.
-
Nope.
Rule of thumb: if someone tells you they reported you, they're full of #########.

If the perk had no cooldown, killers could repeatedly pick up survivors and drop them to disable gens and figure out which gens are being worked on.
And then survivors would wiggle free, thus negating the additional information gained from the perk.
Zero cooldown might be too much, but an argument could be made for either longer duration or a shorter cooldown.

@BBQnDemogorgon said:

@LCGaster Bonus BP for survivors would've prevented all of this i bet.
Make playing killer not worth it BP wise when a killer only dlc drops...
So people won't flood the killer queues and make it unplayable
In which case you'd kill survivor queues because nobody would be playing killer. GG.
-
It's not meant to block generators from being repaired, its primary purpose is to give you information.
Either survivors stop working on generators, or they keep going and give you information about where they are. It's not much, but that's the way it is.
