Well then it couldn't be someone overly powerful like Lucifer. I imagine it would probably either be old yellow eyes, or Crowley.
You think demons aren't powerful?

I figure either Dick Roman or Azazel.
For Azazel, I suppose his ability would be akin to something like supernatural speed or strength. I imagine it would be something like Ghost face/Myers. Actually I have a few ideas for Azazel! i.e he has to "stalk" you for a certain amount of time (uninterrupted) and it could put you into the injured state, and it has a cooldown until he can use it again. His main attack I suppose would be to hit you with a weapon (I think in John's body he attacked Dean with a crowbar or a fire poker), and his mori would be to lift the survivor into the air by the neck and they would burst into flames and be thrown to the ground.
Though I don't have many ideas for the leviathan aside from his mori being something to do with the weird mouth thing.
Azazel is too powerful. He'd have to be nerfed so hard it'd be like playing a bodybuilder and calling him "Superman".

I won't disagree. Let's not forget, the same person who said "Clown is underrated and people (with thousands of hours in the game and actual experience) haven't found his power" is also the person who thought it was a good idea to intentionally make it so stunning a killer with a pallet when they were picking up a survivor didn't require timing back in the day.
He's not fit for his job, really. Just a string of bad decisions.
He's also the guy who thought Spirit shouldn't be able to see survivors. He's made good choices too, but those don't seem to be brought up quite as often... One of those good choices is the willingness to admit he was wrong, which is why now you can't stun a killer mid-animation. Sometimes things don't work out the way you thought, ######### happens.

Lucifer. Unless you dive deeply into the problem of evil.

Amara and Chuck are just too high level on the totem pole. Maybe the Empty too, but I'd love to see him in his shadowy form.
Michael, Lucifer, & Hell many of the characters also touch on religious icons, which BHVR said they wouldn't do in the past, but uh... Plague. Plus this latest tome has some Pagan and East Asian spiritual charms. Found that interesting.
Which outside of the religious ones, that just leaves the British Men of Letters and Vampire/Werewolf clans. Dick Roman feels too small of a character... heh. In the same way putting actual God or Lucifer would be too big.
Maybe Asmodeus? Idk. It's actually hard to peg a good villain that doesn't outweigh the entity or is just too minor of a character. Lilith? Gabriel?
Can you imagine Amara in DbD, if she were accurately portrayed?

Permanently wipe out everything in the DbD universe.

I am not a supernatural fan, but I used to watch it with my cousin each now and then. As far as I remember there was no specific antagonist for the most part, it was just random demons. Sam and Dean would make for some neato survivors though, I have an idea of what their perks could. be.
There was a specific antagonist, it just didn't become obvious until later on.
-
If they were to add a killer from the main villains, the only one I could see fitting in the game would be Dick Roman. Most of the others are powerful supernatural beings whose powers range from stuff like telekinesis and pyrokinesis to ending all of existence, and they would have to be neutered almost completely to be even remotely balanced.
If not from the main villains, they could just add one of the generic monsters like a Wendigo or a Werewolf, nothing too original or scary.

Theyve kind of earned it a little dont you think? Just as one SMALL example they announced major changes coming to clown and we got one very minor change thats half broken and they introduced a new bug to him making it a net negative for the character. And thats just ONE thing out of this latest patch
Regardless of my opinions on the devs, I don't think the truth deserves to be ignored because it doesn't confirm your worldview. The fact is, this was an intentional change designed not to ######### people over (because the devs recognize that a lot of players hoard BP in preparation for a new chapter), yet they still get flak for it.
-
@TWiXT said:
The 50k gift the devs give you is the only thing that breaks past the 1 mil cap. The devs did this intentionally as they wanted everyone to get it no matter how many BP they had, especially since it began on the day PH was released, and many killer players had saved up 1 mil to pump into him as soon as they bought him (plus saving up shards, and finished but unclaimed challenges/dailies for all that juicy reserve BP). You'll be fine.
Sad that the truth gets overshadowed by people insulting the devs.

I can't imagine getting any faster than I've already done. I went from a moderate speed (which I saw paulie ether do) to doing it as fast as I could.
And where are you inputting them? It needs to be in the main menu, where you can click on "Play Survivor", "Play Killer", etc.
Try doing it more slowly.

One thread. That's all you need? I remember rumors about killers targeting Bunny Feng's (It's wabbit season), yet... I still see Bunny Feng's hopping around just fine. This entire post is a pity party for "victims" of a completely manufactured "problem". Again, I've played as Lisa since she was released and haven't felt targeted. This thread needs to be closed.
One thread and multiple people saying they were explicitly targeted for playing Lisa (as in the killer admitted to such in the chat).

So similarly to Freddy, except he places the destination himself. I can see that improving him somewhat. I've yet to figure out how to use the portals effectively because every time I use one the survivors just close it.

I did, shortly before posting that. It comes up to 37 seconds until the first hit, if memory serves.

Nice, I like games that analyze the player.
It's unfortunate that there are so few of them. Many games are hand-crafted with care to give the exact experience the developers want, sure, but games like that have almost endless replayability because the gameplay itself changes depending on what you do.
-
How are you inputting the code? Which buttons are you pressing? Where are you pressing them?

@Todgeweiht said:
Damn I seriously need to play silent hill in some point during my lifetime. it seems like a really interesting game.
IMO, Shattered Memories had the single greatest horror game mechanic of all time. Essentially, the game kept a psychological profile about you (the player), based on a questionnaire you answered at the start, the way you played, and even what you spent time looking at (admiring). Then it used that to change the enemies' appearance and tactics, to become suited to your particular psychological profile. If that had been well-developed and placed in other horror games, it would've been incredible.
The only game that even comes close to this, as far as I know, is a very old FPS game called SiN, wherein enemies adapted to your play style and forced you to change strategies. If you liked to blow up explosive barrels/tanks, they would avoid them. If you went for headshots, they wore helmets. If you went for body shots, they wore armor.
-
My current stealth build:
- Aftercare
- Alert
- Dark Sense
- Kindred
You will see all and know all that goes on around the map, most of the time. Aftercare requires that you unhook and/or heal people, so make sure you're not just crouching in the corner.

I would love to see the results of that. It would be interesting as hell to see how the simple mathematics compares to how it is in actuality.
Well, first I would need some assistance, because I'm not doing all that ######### by myself. If anyone's interested and knows Java (that's the language I learned in college, though I also programmed a bit in C++ for a class that required it), leave a comment on my profile.

First of all, why are you trying to defuse a discussion, isn't that the exact opposite of what this section is supposed to be?
Second, it's simple, veteran players leave the game, while new player fill up more rapidly, because in any game, there are more active new players than active veteran players.
If you put another cadaver in a coffin with another does not mean it has less space. (it's a metaphor)
Not trying to defuse anything, we're having a conversation. Just because you're right about some points doesn't mean your overall conclusion is correct.
In other words, the game is growing. And given how many people I see with hundreds or even thousands of hours, I doubt player retention is an issue. Everyone gets bored of games, eventually.

@samination said:
You original post is ridiculous. You've made up a narrative for yourself that is even happening. Like others said, you probably don't have your best perks for her yet. If you keep losing with this skin, then you need to switch characters or build her up. I've played as Lisa several times now and not once has a killer focused solely on me. Some people see only what they want and filter out the rest as to not disrupt their thought.
If you are so certain this is true, why not provide some evidence? Just blatantly stating things in the the forums doesn't count as fact.
Usually I'd be right there with you, but there was another thread openly calling for the harassment of Lisa players.

What isn't included in this equation is that no one merely runs in a straight line, no bloodlust (which kicks in after 15s), lunging (which covers a few meters) and power usage.
Who cares if it takes you 30 seconds to cover 18m if they step in a bear trap, or you fling a hatchet at them, or you slow them with a bottle of gas, or teleport to where they're going, or sprint at double speed with a chainsaw etc. Theres a reason that the powers exist
Indeed, this is a simplified model, but it's also for M1 killers, so no hatchets or chainsaws or anything like that. I created a more complex model (wrote the code for it and everything) that does take into account Bloodlust, but not the lunge. However, the model still presumes survivors run in a straight line. I could create a far more complex model with enough time and some assistance, even taking into account map design.

it a slope, trust me, it will be lower again in a week or two.
True, because there's also a free weekend going on. Putting that aside, you're also right that new chapters bring in more players temporarily. However, the game has had an increased player count for a while now, during times of normalcy (not during a free weekend or following a new chapter release). How do you explain that?
-
Nope.

those are people that came for silent hill. payed money, started realizing that the game is broken, then left with no refunds, that's the BHVR strategy. White knights
So why does the player count keep increasing if people are leaving?
-
@Aneurysm said:
But it doesn't work like that? It doesn't take 75 seconds to down a baby meg running in a straight line at all.
M1 killers move at 4,6 m/s. Survivors run at 4 m/s. Sprint Burst makes survivors move at 6 m/s for 3 seconds. Now you do the math, assuming an initial distance of 18 m.

Ah, the ever classic "I don't have this issue so it doesn't exist and everyone else who claims they do are liars". Tell me, do you also believe that no one drives Ferraris because you don't? Same concept.
TWiXT said that he didn't experience the problem, along with a slew of other people, and offered some information about his settings that could, hopefully, help out those who are experiencing the problem. He didn't say the problem wasn't real (quite the opposite, in fact) or called anyone a liar. In short, he's offering advice and information that indicates the problem could be external to the game.

Would it work to teleport the camped survivor to a different hook if the killer stayed within a certain distance for a certain amount of time with no other survivors around?
Any mechanic that punishes the killer based on distance to the hook will easily be abused by survivors, so no, it wouldn't work.
-
@Reaver_Raziel said:
As someone that mainly plays killer I would just increase the time it takes from going from one hook phase to another, if the killer is too close and there are still gens left to do. In this way it would more or less guarantee that survivors have more than enough time to get all gens done and get out, or if they feel like it, do a save attempt.
Will this stop people from face camping? Ofc not, some people do it 100% only because it pisses other people off. While some do it because they dont think they have any other options left, as in either having a ######### game/######### start and finally caught 1 person but 4-5 gens are done. Sucks for that one survivor but at least in this regard usually there have been some gameplay.
As someone that mainly plays killer I would just increase the time it takes from going from one hook phase to another, if the killer is too close and there are still gens left to do.
Something like that (slowing the sacrifice speed if the killer is close to the hook) was already tried and the survivors abused it.
-
Controversial comment incoming...
- Redefine "unsafe unhook" so it's any unhook where the unhooked survivor is hit (not necessarily downed) within X seconds of being unhooked, unless they were fully healed beforehand.
- Heavily discourage unsafe unhooks by transferring damage from the unhooked survivor to the hook farmer and revealing the latter's aura for 10 seconds no matter where they are (yes, even in lockers). If the hook farmer is already injured, they go down. Perks like DS are disabled for the hook farmer. Finally, the unhooked survivor is fully healed, to prevent killers from taking advantage of the easy down.
"Face" campers are already punished by not getting BP or pips. The only ones who need to be punished are the hook farmers who make it worthwhile for killers to camp. They're the main reason why it's so prevalent.

Looks like lag, TBH.
-
You may not think that this small change is significant, but trust me, it is. The Clown used to be slowed when trying to slow survivors. It's a bizarre design choice to say the least, like the fact that Trail of Torment reveals where you are when it activates. Now he isn't slowed any more, so he can actually take full advantage of the slowing effect.
-
I think Corrupt Intervention is a good perk on Oni because it lets him set up and snowball. However, while I have not used it that much with Oni, a friend of mine who mains Oni says it's a good perk for him.
-
As a survivor main, my only issue with him is that his passive sleep cannot be countered in any way. You can dodge or get in a locker when the Doctor uses his shocks, you can dodge the Huntress's hatches and the Plague's vomit, but you will always fall asleep when Freddy is your killer. It is impossible to avoid, regardless of your skill and decisions.
On a side note, it's sad that "boring" was co-opted by certain elements in the survivor community as a thinly-veiled nerf request, because real complaints like mine are now ignored.
-
Players quit all the time, there's no reason to make such a big deal about it.
