  • Already tried and abused by survivors.

  • All toxic survivors are vocal, in my experience, with a large portion of those also being toxic in-game.

  • Survivors, by far, and it's completely disproportionate to the survivor/killer ratio.

What I mean with the QoL changes is, reduce the amount of pallets in a certain area, do something about the gen speed because it is disgusting the way it is now, the pallet stun range that for some reason is HUGE, amount of breakable walls that you are forced to break or you will never catch a survivor, and things like PIP system for killers and the reason it is so unfair

Yes, they have reduced the number of pallets.

They are looking into built-in slow mechanics, but generator repair time is already at the highest supported value (and maybe a bit higher than that); it's not feasible to directly increase the time required to repair generators.

Pallet stun range is, I think, a latency issue.

Breakable walls are a relatively new feature and will require fine-tuning like everything else. Their very existence is arguably a QoL change because it gives you the ability to control how survivors run loops.

Did Their "QoL" for killers helped a lot, or just did minimum things that cant even be noticed in most cases?

QoL changes, by definition, are small alterations, so what you're effectively asking is if their QoL changes were QoL changes or straight-up buffs.

Considering cage wasn't counting as a hook (may have been fixed I haven't played in a bit) it could be a reason as to why.

Not sure what you mean. There was an issue related to BP, but cages are not supposed to count as hooks, that's their whole deal. They're a different way to progress the sacrificial stages.

  • So what do you do to find survivors who are uninjured and not running?

  • Yes, all the time.

    Next question, please.

Slap it on Small Game. It's just the buff that perk needs.

  • So your argument is that the perk's effects might benefit the killer, therefore they should be nerfed or removed? Yeah, no. Cleanse the totems.

Oh no. Not multiple people! Again... we were told it was 'Wabbit Season' when Bunny Feng came out. Yet...she's still out there hopping around. You're not being targeted for a skin, so stop with the nonsense as it's about as stupid as the thread you posted.

    1. I don't own Lisa or even the Silent Hill DLC.
    2. I didn't open this thread.
    3. If you're gonna dismiss everything out of hand because it doesn't happen to you, what's the point of talking with you?
  • Removing survivors' second-chance perks will make them play better and increase survival rates. There's a psychological effect wherein people who feel safe behave more recklessly than those who feel unsafe. My thinking is that survivors feel too safe with all their second-chance perks, so they screw up more often than if they didn't have them.

  • Their logic might be "If everyone can cleanse and corrupt all her pools, they all become clean and she only gets one activation of Corrupt Purge".

Before I get people jumping down my throat about how I'm killing everyone by cleansing, let me just say that this is only my guess at why other people do it. Let me say that again, other people do it and I'm trying to understand why they (people who are not me) do it.

Cue a reply from someone who ignores the second paragraph for the sake of comedy.

have you actually tried that though? Crawling is so slow that it doesn’t even make a difference if you try to crawl to the killer or into a corner. Actually crawling into a corner just ups the chances of the killer finding you there instead of somewhere in the middle of the map.

but sure, there probably are many survs to do it to be spiteful, but whats the problem? Killers do stuff to be spiteful all the time. And in this case, they gave the surv the opportunity in the first place.

Yes, I have. I wouldn't be saying it otherwise.

I'm not saying there's a problem, I'm saying that, IMO, you're only hurting yourself.

  • @Mooks said:

I am not a pro player, getting caught is something that happens and should happen in many matches. Otherwise matchmaking and/or game balance were not working properly.

getting slugged is something the killer has to decide actively, if he can’t find me again, he made a mistake, not me. Why should I crawl to the killer? That doesn’t make sense. Outplaying is obviously a wrong word for it. Maybe a better way to phrase it: the killer outplayed himself.

also lore-wise: the survivors should always have some hope, just letting themselves get sacrificed without any struggle doesn’t make sense

(if the killer played well I do let my self get sacrificed, and bleeding out is something I maybe experience once or twice a month, and that not while actively trying to hide while slugged but because the killer is not capable of finding me again)

Nobody said you should crawl to the killer, but letting yourself bleed out for 4 minutes (boring) when you could end it by making it easier for the killer to hook you (get to the next trial more quickly) is indeed your decision. IMO, you're just cutting off your nose to spite your face when you do that.

  • Survivor meta has remained pretty much unchanged for 4 years and counting, it's always been about second-chance/self-sustain perks.

We'll Make It might be the biggest change to the meta since the game came out because, for once, it's a perk that actively helps someone else and only passively helps you.

I have no doubt that the Executioner won't change the meta in any significant way, if at all.

  • @Mooks said:

I still think bleeding out and getting snacked by the Entity after EGC should count as a small „win“ for the survs as in giving them some BP and not the killer. they managed to outplay the killer and didn’t get caught but somehow the killer gets points for it? i am not here to gift the killer points, he can just equip deerstalker if they want to slug.. As a surv I should try to get away from the killer, that shouldn’t count as trolling or annoying the killer.

Sorry, but you didn't outplay anyone. If you had, you wouldn't have bled out on the floor, you would've escaped instead.

To answer the OP, survivors think they're hurting you by denying you BP. In reality, they're only hurting themselves by letting themselves bleed out while you go make yourself a sandwich.

Its not the act of making you lose its the act of ending your game early and getting an deserved win instantly while unfairly denying victory to the opponents. Its like bringing a gun to a knife fight but you use a knife for a little bit until out of no where you randomly pull the gun out and shoot your opponent. They're cheap and toxic to do on first hook

Yeah, that's called "playing to the best of your ability" and it's not toxic. A killer in a 3v1 situation will have better results than a killer in a 4v1 situation, so they try to get to the 3v1 ASAP.

Winning is not "unfairly denying victory to the opponents", it's the entire purpose of a competitive game, to deny victory to your opponents so you may attain it for yourself (or your team, as the case may be). You can call a strategy "cheap" all you'd like, but if it's within the confines of the rules then it is, quite literally, fair game.

Have you ever played a competitive sport? When your opponents use an effective strategy that works against you, you don't complain that it's "cheap". You learn to counter it and adapt. That's how video games work as well.

  • @kate_best_girl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1372972#Comment_1372972

You're right because one is just annoying and doesn't do much except make you irritated the other completely removes you from the game and gives you an instant loss. Both are gross especially because both are 100% optional.

Making you lose is not toxic, it's literally the killer's job to make sure you lose so that they win. It's a competitive game, not a cooperative game. Your loss is the killer's gain and vice-versa.

  • I never said that, I just recommended some literature on what drives bully-like behavior. I was hoping someone else would point out that playing to the best of your ability and intentionally trying to annoy your opponent are not the same thing because I got lazy.

  • Well, yeah, when you send false reports, nothing will happen. "Tunneling" isn't reportable, just like "gen rushing" isn't reportable.

Teabagging and flashlight clicking is game design as well.

Are you really comparing playing to the best of your ability with intentionally trying to annoy your opponents?

  • Entire libraries have been written on the subject of bullies and what drives them. It's probably easier to read one of those books than asking them directly.

hmm dont forget bhvr is not indie company anymore.. do you think that indie company can have 113 mil dollars in revenue ? I dont think so...

Yes, absolutely. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, an AAA game, sold 8 million copies by January. Assuming they sold for 60 USD each, that's about quadruple your figure, and it's just one game. EA as a whole has a revenue in the billions.

They have about 500 employees, if memory serves. They're not all developers, they're employees, which includes janitorial staff, HR, and other such non-game-related jobs. Even if 20% of them are developers, they're not all working on DbD.

But maybe you have a source that tells you stuff I don't know. Do you?

Bro I know I'm not talking about the people experiencing the bugs, I'm talking about the people who say they aren't. We've got plenty of evidence showing the bugs, but no evidence from the people saying they aren't experiencing sound bugs.

I am also talking about the people who say they aren't experiencing the bugs. That's why I said it's not possible that they don't notice they can't hear anything, therefore they must be hearing things normally. Open up random DbD streams and see if everyone is experiencing the bugs, it should be easy to check.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1372676#Comment_1372676

I disagree because I think there's multiple issues with how sounds work in this game now. I think there's an audio prioritization issue, where things like footsteps, grass, dropdown noises, and even injury sounds don't play for some people. But I also think that there's another issue with LOS blockers that sometimes completely blocks sounds but other times just muffles them. "Audio occlusion" is what they love to call it. I just call it BS that doesn't function as it should.

And then of course, chase music can often be louder than it needs to be, making both problems even more confusing. There's a lot of variables and I think people are conflating them.

My point is that people can't not notice that they don't hear anything unless they themselves are already hard of hearing or deaf. It'd be like a sighted person going blind without realizing it, it's just not possible.

For all the pedants in the audience, yes, I am aware of Anton's blindness, please focus on the overall theme of what I'm saying.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1372662#Comment_1372662

I mean the possibility also exists that the people saying that they don't have a problem with sounds are just unaccustomed to utilizing sounds in such a way that has a major impact on their ingame performance. That's not to try to gaslight anyone, but I remember watching Tofu analyze a Doctor game on Hawkins where the guy was complaining about gen rushing but in actuality just played like a complete rank 20 despite being in red ranks. Perception is a hell of a drug.

I'd really like for anyone saying that they don't have issues with sounds to post video evidence as Jund did so that we can compare and contrast with his footage, their footage, and old YouTube videos/VODs.

Nah, there's no way anyone would be confused about this. Survivor make no sound. Not "less sound", just no sound whatsoever. There's no room for confusion here.

  • I feel like She would nab either SCP-106 or SCP-682. They're both actively malevolent and fairly difficult to destroy.

106 might be an interesting one to add, due to his ability and humanoid shape. In-game he'd probably be able to walk through walls (similar to his ability in Secret Laboratory) and destroy pallets and breakable walls by walking through them.

682 would be difficult to add without making him feel like he was too weak, along with the fact that he isn't humanoid.

  • @dbd_noob said:

I think that they don't have the resources and can react to bugs with hotfixes.

To catch all sorts of bugs it would need excessive testing which probably is not in the budget and time.

Also lots of bugs are also very specific. I encounter a bug that I have not seen somewhere else. If I have streamlabs open and play dbd, I drop to about 5fps in midwich. Probably it is my hardware or driver version or something, still, they just cannot test everything in a timely manner.

Indeed, it's impossible to find every single bug. They would need to do literally everything that could be done in the game using every hardware and software combination in existence. That's simply not possible within a finite amount of time.

Take this sound bug that seems "obvious", for example. It isn't affecting everyone, meaning it's probably something that their systems have in common and not an issue with the game itself. If that thing isn't available to the devs for testing (possible due to budget constraints or just very rare and not worth the effort), this bug would easily slip past undetected.

I think it's clearly an oversight. Even if intended, it should be paused while in a cage.

I know I'm saying that that isn't the only way though because yeah slugging has a time limit but it's still 4 minutes that the killer has the freedom to hunt the other one without the posibility for escape, also the goal the survivors have at that point is them both escaping which is impossible if the killer is keeping heavy preasure so the last survivor standing has to keep trying to revive the downed survivor or the downed survivor has to dc to give the other the chance at escape

Well, you're wrong. 4 minutes can't go on forever. That's not holding the game hostage. The downed survivor can just bleed out and die.

Trans is someone who wants to be the other gender and can change their appearance but can never actually change there gender. I'm sorry but it's just not possible

Honestly I don't know why I even bother with people like you, no matter what anyone might say, even if a dev themself would tell you you're wrong you wouldn't admit it. Neither one of us opened the discusion because you started this when you said you found it amusing how people confuse what is actually hostage taking in response to someone else and I responded to you by pointing out that they aren't actually wrong based on the term's definition even if it isn't exactly how the devs would define it on a reason to report it, but there actually is more than one way to take hostage in dbd and more than one way to do it and deem a report, it's not people trying to make that conection when the conection is fairly obvious, and just because the devs gave 1 example of a way to take the game hostage it doesn't mean that it's the only way of taking anything hostage in the game.

I gotta agree though it has been amusing, but no for the same reasons, it's been amusing simply because you are the perfect example of the typical killer main that's so stubborn to realize that a lot of your fellow killer mains maybe even yourself like to take advantage of how poorly designed this game is and then try to defend themselves for doing so while undermining the survivors opinions on how horribly unfair this game can be for both sides. Now I really don't care if you respond again or not because to be honest this discussion is getting nowhere. Btw for anyones that is wondering I am neither a survivor or a killer main because I like playing both sides and I can understand the concerns of both sides but I cant agree with most of the stuff people cry about on this forum on a daily basis including how camping is always justified just because the devs can't do anything about it

The devs have said that a hostage situation is one where one or more players are behaving in such a way that the game will not end unless the other player(s) disconnect. Slugging, for example, has a fixed time limit of 4 minutes. Bodyblocking the two remaining survivors in a corner before the EGC starts, on the other hand, can go on forever.

That's the definition the devs use. You can disagree with their usage of the term, but this is what they mean when they say "holding the game hostage".

Suppose so. Still, there are definitely more powerful villains and such, and as far as I remember Azazel didn't rule over the demons, that was Crowley, although I could be wrong. Also, Dick Roman was like king of the leviathans or something. Maybe one of the alpha vampires then? I'm not sure, but I'd be happy with even just a Bunker Map and Sam and Dean as survivors.

Also, I think my ideas were pretty good :)

Azazel did rule over the demons, even if he never officially served as King of Hell. Casey mentioned that he held all the demons together, despite being a tyrant (or maybe because of it).

Also, there's only one Alpha per monster species. That's what Alpha means, it's the first of the species. The Alpha Vampire would be a good fit, I always felt he was underutilized. He's gotta be well over a million years old, since he was around before humans discovered fire.

I always thought the seasons of supernatural should only be 13 episodes long. That way the story never meanders and the pacing stays tight. But because they had to fill 22 or 23 episodes, there would be so much filler that would find Sam and Dean having to tackle a random case because they currently lost all leads on the season's big bad. Losing the leads happened so often that it became downright laughable! 😄

Yeah, like when they lost track of Amara. How do you lose the most powerful being in existence? That's just insane!

  • @Lowkeysaurus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1371462#Comment_1371462

Oh yeah of course, but he wasn't like all powerful. The Leviathan, Lucifer, Amara, Abbadon, Cain, Michael, Chuck- I'd even consider Demon Dean more powerful, he somehow managed to escape runes and ######### specifically made for demons.

It would be interesting to see a Survivor Dean and Soulless Sam as killer though, albeit I'm not sure everyone would be happy with that

Obviously he wasn't all-powerful. Even Amara isn't all-powerful, and she's the most powerful being in all of existence. Chuck is, well, Chuck. Not really a fair comparison, it's like comparing an atom to the sun. Among the demons, however, Azazel was definitely one of the most powerful. Demon Dean and Cain don't count because their invulnerability came from Amara.

That's why I said it wouldn't make sense for them to have Lucifer but I think demons are fair game. Besides it's kind of hard to make a point of demons being too powerful when you have the likes of Freddy Krueger and Pyramid Head in your game.

Demons in Supernatural would wipe the floor with those guys. Hell, we already had a Freddy Kruger-esque villain and he was just a plain old human.

Well, it got better. The main issue is that demons and angels are really a much bigger threat than, say, a werewolf. Gotta raise the stakes (which they did up until season 11, then they went down until season 13-ish, and are currently at their highest since season 11).

Azazel scared every demon that walked the Earth (and some that didn't), which is how he kept them all in line. He didn't just set women on fire after pinning them to the ceiling.
