I literally leveled up Nancy to 40 just so I could get that sweet, sweet Inner Strength. I'm currently playing around with it and it'll probably be added to my build because it saves time relative to having someone else heal me and complements my playstyle (if I see a totem, that totem's going down). However, before Inner Strength, I had never used any self-healing perk. Apart from Adrenaline, which I don't want, they all seemed pretty lackluster.

Keys just need one thing changed: they can't be found in chest any more. Other than that, both these things are fine.

They are bait on a hook that IS literally keeping the killers attention if that killer is camping. You arent rewarding a "failure" you are compensating a player for their time. Time that is helping teammates complete the objective and work as a team. It encourages staying in the game even if you as the individual fail to make it out.
Unless the survivor got on the hook on purpose, that's not true at all. But, if you wanna go there, struggling already gives points.

Doing gens is what everyone else should do but the one on the hook should be able to benefit from keeping the killers attention as well. This idea doesn't penalize the killer at all it only gives the survivor more incentive to not quit while being camped.
The hooked survivor is doing nothing to keep the killer's attention. They're bait on a hook. I don't agree with adding a base mechanic that rewards failure just because someone beat you in a specific way.
-
Sure, gen rushing exists.
Just earlier today I was up against a Wraith who got 2-3 hooks by the time we finished all the gens. Other than his last chase, he didn't take too long to down anyone, it's just that we were all over the map, all working on gens. No surprise, the last survivor got hit with NOED (she was taunting him near the gate despite knowing he had it) and everyone else left, but if that last survivor had actually tried to escape, he would've gotten one kill. This was with two solos and a 2-man SWF (me+a friend), no toolboxes, no perks to speed up gens, nothing.
There are many problems associated with balancing gen rush, though, due to its nature as an edge case. Anything you do must have little to no effect in the other 90%* of cases. The problem is that generator repair is so simple, mechanically, that there's not much you can change that affects gen rushing, but not the other 90%* of cases.
*The percentage is pulled out of thin air and is just meant to emphasize that gen rushing is an edge case and not the norm.
-
No, that's right. It's placed right at the start, but invisible. However, it's much easier to say it spawns when the number of repaired generators is greater than the number of remaining survivors than to explain that the hatch's location is procedurally generated based on a number of conditions, a spot is picked when the trial starts, and that it only becomes visible and allows you to interact with it when the number of repaired generators is greater than the number of remaining survivors. The full explanation is a mouthful and makes no difference.

You could achieve the same effect with a piece of paper, so I'm guessing it's not bannable.

Some of the "solutions" I've seen for swf are ridiculous (i.e. delete it completely) or would just make the game incredibly dull (slower gens, an additional gen) but they need to stop acting as though it doesn't make any difference at all. Like if someone wants to explain to me how a full team where someone has object of obsession isn't a balance issue I'm interested to hear it.
Inb4 "You want to punish people for playing with their friends!"
I agree, something has to be done. However, since you (generic "you", I don't mean you specifically) don't want to nerf SWF since it'd effectively be punishing people for playing with their friends, I think what the devs need to do is buff survivors in ways that don't affect SWF and then buff killers accordingly.

Yes, and I posted the link in my first comment to you. The article is called "Rank".

Yes, it's the wiki article I posted and its related articles.

ok, not sure exactly how that works, I thought the bp were attributed to the 4 categories which in turn give points toward pips
That's how it worked in the beginning, but now it's different. The wiki article (and its related articles) should tell you everything you need to know. In short, pips have to do with your actions during the trial and not the BP you get from them.

4k isn't enough for a pip though? pretty sure if I score under 20k I depip
not 100% but seems if I get 6k each category I get ruthless and that's one pip, over 7k each category gets me merciless for double pip, 5k each category gets me brutal killer maybe. but 16k total score is 4k each category and that's entity displeased.
be nice if someone can confirm exactly, I am playing at rank 7 currently and it seems the points required to pip has increased compared to first 10 ranks
Pips don't depend on BP.

What I saw was that they were having problems reproducing the bugs, which is why they're having problems fixing them. The bugs are not affecting everyone equally, so they're harder to fix.

What you can't counter with skill, you counter with perks.

@EvilJoshy said:
Is it me or does it seem like a killer's unique perks are actually better on a different killer?
Doc gets m&a but he doesnt want a smaller tr. Other killers do.
MYC is from the pig but she doesnt get as much use out of it like Hag.
Just to name a few.
I think the devs at least intend for the perks to be useful on their own killers, but they overestimate just how useful they really are.
You can't look at the Doctor in his current state when thinking about M&A, though. That perk was useful for the old Doctor, if you were trying to shock someone into Madness 3 before downing them. That way you managed to increase the Madness of other survivors in the area at the same time.

That's the whole point...you don't get that chance at all when the killer is camping. Especially if they're playing with Hillbilly or Leatherface.
There's always a chance, it's just a very small one. If you think you can't succeed or if the cost will be too great, then go do something else. That's how the game works.
-

Not at all true. I don't believe I should be allowed to do something just because I want to, I believe you should be allowed to do something because you're suppose to. Because it shouldn't be an issue...
So if I'm doing something wrong because I'm not a d*ok then I suppose you're right...
You are allowed to try to do something, but you're not supposed to be able to do it 100% of the time. You have a chance. That's it.
Feeding is indeed doing something wrong, no matter how you justify it to yourself. I was repeatedly unhooked without BT and without anyone taking any protection hits by people who thought they were "helping". In this instance, it's not the thought that counts. They ######### up, period.

Not what I said nor was it even implied. They will literally tunnel someone and/or camp them, whoever they happen to get down first, until they're dead. As said person's teammate, I try to help them. This most often leads to me being the next target. Or whoever they choose. So yeah, I guess in that case, I must be doing ALL the things wrong.
The devs may not consider it cheating but from what I've read, they also highly frown upon it. Hence the fact that you get a penalty, however slight that is, for doing it. Apparently it isn't enough to deter it because here we are. You can defend it all you want. It is still an extremely crappy way to play.
Yes, you are doing something wrong, which is believing that just because you want to do something, you should be able to, no matter what the killer is doing. As a survivor, you are the victim. The killer is supposed to be able to stop you from doing things. If you want to be in a position of power, you play killer instead and hope you don't get a SWF death squad.
My only complaint about camping and tunneling is that teammates like you reward killers for them. You think I liked being killed in 30 seconds after successfully evading a Huntress the entire trial because my teammates just couldn't help themselves from unhooking in her face? No, but I don't blame the Huntress for playing smart and going after the easy target, I blame the teammates for feeding.

I hide pretty well too. But one of our objectives as survivors is to help our teammates...which almost always gets me hooked. And, especially lately, once I'm hooked I'm tunneled until I'm dead. Same goes for most other survivors, granted the fact that they're actually good and helpful teammates. It is cheating if you continue to tunnel someone or camp them on the hook and keep their teammates from helping them or giving them a chance at all just so you can get your kill. Idk, I guess I'm just not as selfish and douchey like some people.
So how come your teammates don't get tunneled when you unhook them? Clearly you must be doing something wrong.
PS: You don't define what "cheating" is, the devs do. It's their game, their rules.

Lol I love how you call it a “Strategy” knowing damn well it’s just a scummy way of playing. BTW killers that “hook rush” are the type to DC one they hit someone that has borrowed time once the gates are powered.
As a survivor main, it is a strategy. As someone who's been here for 4 years, it's the survivors' fault if camping works.
-
Making you lose in certain ways is not cheating. It might be annoying, but that's losing. If you don't want to be camped and tunneled, I recommend learning how to hide from the killer instead of looping. It does wonders for me.

Dealing with broken killer mechanics shouldn't be a risk.
But it is DBD so what else should I ever expect. A decently balanced working game? DBD could never.
I still remember when the Wraith being invisible was considered a "broken killer mechanic" because the TR was supposed to give survivors advanced warning of the killer's presence and the Wraith could suppress his.
You'll learn to play against PH, eventually. It'll just take some time, like with every other killer.

Now this I hope they look into.
Same. I edited in this bit after you replied, BTW: No more "resets after X amount of time", you have to actually show that you're going to stop being a bad teammate.
Of course, this would require that the game be more stable, due to the reported crashes. The goal isn't to punish those who are having problems.

At least a few times a day I get 1 or 2 teammates who dc.I’m like gee thanks for making the rest of us suffer😐.Although not to long ago all three teammates dc’ed and left me to get moried😒.
Yeah, the devs need to increase the DC penalty. Maybe 10 minutes for the first DC, then it doubles every DC and you need to play 1 game without DCing per "level". So if you're at 10 minutes, you have to play 1 game, 20 minutes you have to play 2, and so on. No more "resets after X amount of time", you have to actually show that you're going to stop being a bad teammate.

The devs forgot why ruin was in the game in the first place. Now most killers are leaving because they lack pressure and a lot of crappy survivors are ranking up. This is what happens when you hand out participation trophies.

Because I'm having roughly the same amount of success as a killer, but more success as a survivor. I took an extended break, so it's not like my skill has improved on either side, and I don't try too hard.
