If anything you don't like is a "bait" thread, then I'm sorry, but I don't know what are you doing here.
You literally started the thread off calling a killer braindead, then tried to cover it up by saying it's a thread looking for tips how to counter that killer. Anyone with common sense knows that you can't really say a Killer is braindead when you're losing because you don't know how to counter them. Then when people called you on it, you pretend to act innocent. Even as far as to act innocent when someone calls you on acting innocent. The entire time making a thread out of one the hardest killers in the game to play - going as far as to have responses saying that playing Survivor is hard, when everyone knows that survivor is the easiest role to play in the game (the dev's literally base the game around giving the survivors an easier time playing the game in lowest ranks).
This is obviously a bait thread, and your obviously still replying to me to continue trolling. I am just going to along, because it's further proof this isn't a serious thread.

That was kind of a rude comment, I guess you're really angry at me because I told that your main is "braindead".
I was saying that Freddy is the one Killer that is very low risk high reward, you don't even have to be decent at playing Killer to win as him, just slap on PGTW and other gen slowdown perks and roughly in 90% of games the gens will never get done.
This is an obvious bait thread.

I know I ranked killer to rank 4 then just stopped playing. Did some dailies yesterday. Also I spend a lot of time on the PTB.
Then if my friends are not on to play survivor with me, after a few bad survivor matches. I just play a different game.

Sorry to say, but the dailies are always more of what you play less. Literally to encourage people to play different roles.
Well thats odd. I mostly play killer and only get a survivor daily once a month if I'm lucky. Good try though. Let me see what the players know about the liklihood of certain dailies appearing than others. Oh looks like we have yet to record any official information from behaviour.

PC killers think they will have an easy time playing against console players. But all console SWFs are on comms. All of them! Console has comms built in whereas PC players have to mess around with 3rd party programs if they want communicate.
I think it will be wonderful for us all to play together.
I mainly play on PC and can guarentee you most of us play with comms as well. BHVR saying most players are solo is BS

He replied to your original post, you said Freddy requires zero skill for high reward. He explained specific skills that good freddy players have.
You didn't just "ask for tips against freddy" you very rudely said that freddy requires no skill to play. Which he requires a hell of a lot of skill to play, like any of the top tier killers - and he isn't even of the highest tier. Then when someone called you out on your ######### - you acted innocent.
I am a Freddy main and made a whole guide on how to counter him, because he is very easy to counter if you know how he works. Like countering a nurse or spirit. Though i'm not about to tell someone like you how, because of your initial attitude in the first place. I hope the next freddy 4ks you before you even finish your 3rd gen. (Bte countering freddy is more than staying awake, but please fail a skillcheck to wake up)

As we've mentioned multiple times, that is not intended. We have a new ranking an matchmaking system on the way that'll address that: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/124795/
Yeah the hidden matchmaking system - so that you are still getting matched with people not even nearly close to your skill level, but you won't be able to see it anyways.
We are not that stupid, so don't treat us like we are.
-
I would like to see both Cross Progression, and Cross Platform. I have friends on xbox who I want to play with.
-
Killer needs a buff
-
He can't teleport until 10 seconds into the game
-
There are more survivors than there are Killer meaning;
- Balance the game in Survivors favor, and do not balance around SWF because the game is more fun for the bigger crowd that way. More fun for SWF = more money.
- Make killer challenges to unlock important lore aspects to the game, this will make people play killer - even though it's not fun, or balanced.
- Give free cosmetics easier to earn by playing Killer challenges, this will make people play killer - even though it's not fun, or balanced.
- Make Killer dailies more likely, this will make people play killer - even though it's not fun, or balanced.
- Since Killer is not fun or balanced, it is hard to have many high ranking killers. Expand the area that Killer's can be ranked against so that low rank killers can face high rank survivors. This makes it so that even in high ranks, survivors continue to get into games, and continue having fun.
The dev's would have us believe most people "play both", or most people "play solo", but anyone with common sense know that any people playing "solo" are simply trying to rank up / farm bp on their own time, and the people who "play both" are just doing dailies/challeges. We even seen after the ruin changes, many people who did play Killer primarily - straight up and leave the game or start to primarily play Survivor. I know I certainly did.
-
Barely any pips today only getting matched with potatos far under my skill level so the Killer just snowballs each round easily. Barely any sacrifices only get matched with high ranking far above my skill level so i'm entirely powerless. No escapes, most of the time I just die on first hook because no one comes to save me.
Day's going pretty bad, I think i'm just giong to stop playing dbd for the day and play red dead instead. Probably stop playing dbd entirely and wait for Resident Evil: Resistance to come out.
Sorry if you think this is "drama"

Devs don't care about either side.
Camping and tunneling is not a fun game, yet nothing has been done to fix it other than perks. If someone doesn't run those perks then gg game over. Not only that but DS isn't enough for the survivor being tunneled.
As killer most of the killers still have some bug relating to their power that robs you of getting survivors down. Nurse's blink spam, plague's infection not working, hillbillys ghostsaw etc
God loops still exist and easily abuseable, people picking heavily 1 sided maps all the time.
But hey they have a dc penalty now. That fixes everything. Who cares why so many disconnected?
Camping has been nerfed by removing points from the chaser emblem - you can camp, but you are not going to Purple ranks doing that alone.
Tunneling never was a good strategy to begin with, and if you mean "tunneling" as in attacking the same survivor off hook, then getting punished for unsafe saves is not the killer's fault either - they are maximizing on the mistake made.
However survivors cry 1 killer is broken on reddit/forums/steam, and you see big nerfs without any regard for what it does to that killer, or how it is to play that killer. Like Legion, Oni, and Freddy. Hell Freddy's Forever Freddy was his weakest build, and they nerfed that into the ground to make his add-ons useless. Thank god he never needed add-ons in the first place, because he was already balanced.
Then at the same time they tip-toe around Survivor nerfs to the point where they buff them, like the recent toolbox changes that are live right now in the PTB.

Que times are not long for me.

Because it requires actual skill, on top of the fact that the game is directly balanced without you having any fun in mind. Your job (actual job) is to be a VS entity to test the skill of the survivors, and ensure they have a fun time. This is your job because it would be too dificult for the dev's to make a bot to do this job instead - so you're treated like one.

I’ve been playing the game for 2 years. I run BT constantly. But what fun is it for the hooked survivor to lose a pip because of a killer who face camps and tunnels. And if you can’t get the save, or a safe hook rescue then you aren’t going to pip anyways. It ruins the game. Easy fix is it killers can’t grab off the hook then you can take the hit and do a 1 for 1.
I doubt you have been playing for 2 years then. Anyone who has experience in the game knows that if you tunnel/camp with killer you lose with MAYBE one kill, and that's a big maybe, because any good survivor can easily get everyone out during EGC. But if actually having skill in the game isn't your strong suit. Matthew Cote (Director) suggests playing CIV.

That to me sounds like the addons haven't been balanced to the toolboxes' new function yet.
The add-ons has nothing to do with it. Seriously these entitled survivors will try to find any reason to justify getting toolbox buffs, and always come back with such stupid responses - like saying that it's a nerf, or blame add-ons that have the same effect regardless. Fact of the matter is, the only thing that should of happened to toolboxes is that their charges be reduced, and the speed to fix a generator never get touched. Besides the toolboxes were never the issue it was the map sizes, ridiculous amount of pallets, and amount of safe loops.
-
@AetherBytes said:

It's a nerf overall. While they are faster, they are consumed more then the speed upgrade would equalize. The only point that may be a buff is it's ability to quickly finish off a gen in an emergency.
That doesn't even make sense. If you are getting the same amount of progression out of the toolbox then it's like they did nothing, however what they did do was make it even faster than that. So now you get more progression then toolboxes would do before, faster, and keep the item if you use the last of it's charges.
In testing me and my friends found it that 3 gen's and a half of a 4th gen could be done with 4 yellow toolboxes running socket swivel and wire spool in the time it takes clown to reach survivors across Thompson House, thats 2 on one gen, 1 on another gen, and 1 on another gen from the beginning. The 2 moving onto the next nearest gen after the first one is complete. You consider that a nerf? When before it would only be 2 gens, or 1 gen and most of a second gen?

hmm i got used to hitting skillchecks in general so i dont fail (unless its like a overcharge maybe) but i guess i never got like the mastery of hitting greats everyone else did. I do play both killer and survivor like 50/50 so i am lacking in some killer and survivor strength in the long run i guess.
For the most part I would suggest aiming for the farther half of the skill check, so then when you do miss the Great - you will always at least get a Good and not force the generator to explode. That's the tip I tell people, over time it just becomes muscle memory to time when to press the button after hearing the skill check sound, and seeing the little white dot. Hex: Lullaby catches me off guard sometimes, because i'm so used to it now LUL.
-
Wait are we supposed to try? After playing a while you get used to the skill checks and I find you just start hitting greats more often than good. Even the newer players I have gotten into the game have been saying the same thing, they don't know why but they are just hitting great skill checks more often.
When I have a challenge to hit great skill checks. I just jump into the next match with No Mither and This Is Not Happening, maybe a toolbox just to get done and out that much quicker.
-
Just going to mark this one down as bait ahead of time. 3 posts, first topic is crying that Killer's are entitled, pretending that a well known issue doesn't exist. That's a bit too obvious.
-
I had no issue in completing them, also probably should be important to note - it's not hard to escape when you make it your primary objective. Survivors die most often when they focus on doing something else other than escaping. Like saving someone left behind, farming bp, or searching for items at the end of the game. It's most often how I die anyways, and I gladly take the hit since I already know i'm going to at least pip regardless if I am sacrificed at that point.
These challenges made for some real Killer salt though, and survivor salt when I just left them all to die.

So it's only me lucky enough - yesterday dodge from four SWF five times in a row?
Well no, obviously the statistics are untrue, or heavily skewed, because I deal with the same thing when playing Killer.
Then again what I think is that they already have aspects of the MMR system they want to fully release with the next update already in the game. When I play Clown, Ghostface, or Legion I find I don't get as many SWF. Also I face more peole who are less competitive, and less skillful at the game. Either because they are not SWF, or because they were boosted to Purple/Red ranks.
But when I run Freddy who I primarily play to farm, and rank up each reset - I will face 4 man swf back to back, or at least extremely good players. Who will even often complain in end game chat "Could you imagine a 20 minute que just to face Freddy again".
Then when I play survivor my ques are no longer than 5-6 minutes, even when playing with friends right now.
So I strongly think that these MMR system is already in affect to some extent, and has been for some time, also skewing statistics.

Hi all,
I've recently started to play spirit more because of the challenges and I'm having so much trouble determining the direction of survivors with sound. I've tried Stridor as well, but it makes almost no difference.
I have a pretty decent gaming headset - Steelseries arctis 7 and I've tried fiddling with the settings a bit but still can't get it right :(
Does anyone else have this issue? Any advice and tips would be appreciated!
There is a known bug in the game where survivors are not making any sound. I'm even noticing it when I'm playing survivor. The dev's have so far failed to fix this bug for several months now.

No, the fact that they are balancing around SWFs proves that people are coming to play this game with other people. And most of them will be on comms. That is something the devs can't change and probably won't ever change. SWF is not a problem, but it does change the original intended design of the game.
That does that mean SWF is a problem, it simply means the design of the game is evolving. Going from a more hide and seek approach to a more chase heavy approach.
They are not balancing around SWF's what gave you that idea? Literally the most recent information of SWF was a chart saying that most people play solo, and "that's why they won't balance around SWF, becuase it wouldn't be fair to solo" - something along those lines.
-
I finished my level 3 today, and then got my Killer to rank 2. Already got to level 70 in the rift (grinded to 60, bought the last 10 levels with the 1k from the rift). Now i'm not touching it again till rank reset, or Level 4. Idc how many dailies for killers you're gonna hand me BHVR, I have my limits of how much abuse and bullying i'll take.
In other news, playing survivor is stress free and fun. Well for survivors. I know the Killer isn't having any fun against me, but that doesn't matter does it BHVR?
-

I can assure you that the devs do indeed care about killers. They make changes based on the game as a whole, meaning that they make changes on both sides.
Maybe not all in the same patches, but they do make forward momentum.
Personally would love to see breakable walls be implemented to other maps a well. Changes dont come over night unfortunately. So map changes will take time.
That explains why they are quick to make big balances changes to killers, and are extremely tip-toe when making changes to survivors.
Wait it doesn't.
I had the mindset that after the Ruin nerf that we were going to see big updates for Killers to make the role easier, and less stressful to play, but then directly after they are tip toeing around balancing toolboxes to the point where they accidently buffed them, and made sabotage changes because "sabotaging isn't fun enough", to the point where now sabotage breaks the game. Yes I know they are still int he PTB but if we follow the recent 3 updates with the PTB, then these changes will come directly to the main game with a few minor bug fixes - like it has each and every time.
Next on the list, they brought back insta-heals. Which blows my mind, so another problem that Killer's are dealing with is people making reckless saves on people in dying state, because they just got off hook, and still have DS. Then both get to go through because the survivor pressed spacebar. Job well done Dev's you just made playing Killer even more of a headache.
Breakable walls takes as long as it takes to break a pallet, which in most cases trying to break every pallet survivors drop costs you a gen per 1-2 pallets. So now to even get an edge on loops it will cost us a gen to do so? I was really excited for the breakable walls, but then quickly disappointed when i'm still not scaring survivors or catching them off guard. In addition to the Toolbox buffs, so you are losing gen's even faster than before, and don't even get me started on the ones who save the toolboxes for the gens after the first 2 gens are gone because it takes killers 2 gens to get across the map in the first place.
Yeah. No. They deffiently are heavily survivor sided, which i'm not surprised because that's the majority of their playerbase, and if the survivors are not having fun then they are not making money. They can however force people to play Killer by making challenges for them, making killer dailies more likely, and releasing new DLC that will make more players come in. If you make the matchmaking put low level killers vs high level survivors then there is no long wait times for high level survivors that would otherwise stop them from having fun.
I think I can keep going on, but I think I covered the major aspects of the recent updates.
-
I'm not entirely sure I understand the question. They already have - all of this?
Though they really need to make the Prestige bloody cosmetics into outfits, so I have an easier time equiping them in lobby when I am showing off that I am a better Steve than the other Steves.
-
Easy counter: Flashlight, BT, and/or Dead Hard. You might be wondering "how?" but that is something you need to learn by playing the game.
-
You say that, but then in most of my games it's literally a toxic 4 man swf that is getting away with sabotaging all the hooks in a game (while still being able to do gens), bodyblocking, coordinating all of the information that game to the point that any killer with traps, or snares becomes unusable. They are running 1 or two OoO. Each with their own role or class. I've seen them with clan tags, i've seen them streaming on twitch, YouTube, and Mixer. Then in end game chat flame you for whatever reason they feel like, and get away with it. I have even come to the point where I doubt anyone is actually reading support tickets, because getting told to get cancer, told to kill myself, and various atrocities about my mother by the same people each and every day (because who else will you get match with at rank 1 on a killer you primarily play regularly) - clearly they don't get punished for it.
So yeah. Just because your one group of friends isn't apart of the issue. The issue is still there and it's the biggest problem DBD has, because the dev's choose to ignore it, and is taking so long to fix it (which we doubt they ever will). It's honestly so bad to the point where I have doubts you're even not apart of the problem and this thread you made is just to try and justify actions you and friends do to bully killers as a SWF, because threads like that have start to pop up lately - which I don't know why anyone would be scared that the dev's will do anything about SWF.
You can't just ask survivors "Are you SWF" most say no, we even know in the team I play with just to say "no". It would be stupid not to. In addition to the whole aspect of SWF being so toxic, so is the fact that you get to remain hidden to the fact you are playing SWF, so statistics of people playing SWF melds with those who are just good at the game while you gain an unfair competitive advantage in a game that really isn't meant to be competitive.
Also the smart people are not asking to "remove SWF" we are asking for the game to balanced around it, and if people are scarred that's gonna "ruin the solo experience" then add a voicechat feature to the game for solo, you don't have to use it, but then it's on you for not using the tools available to you in the game. There even has been great suggestions of a Voice Proximity, which could be very fun.

I like that Feng Min sit's on the ground, she looks so at peace. It's nice.
I'm pretty sure that Nea actually falls asleep. They should add an animation that if Quentin and Nea are in the same campsite, Quentin wakes her up quickly.

Here is a short guide to completing the Key Challenge.
Steve w/ Skeleton Key OR Dull Key (Gold Token, Prayer Beads)(Unles you don't have like a high amount of keys - like me, then Just take Milky Glass, and Weaved Ring).
Iron Will / Left Behind / Spine Chill / Dead Hard
- Anytime the Spine Chill glows, go hide. Around a corner, in a locker, idc just the least likely place the killer is gonna look. It's easier if you play killer and know the likely places killers look.
- Use your key to track where other survivors are, and rush gen's by working on gens with one more people.
- Try to take the safest place on all gens furthest from the killer, so that the other survivors get chased first off gen. You have SC so you will normally always know when the killer is coming first (no killers actually avoid spine chill).
- When there are 4 generators left on the map (2 needed to be completed), look for the hatch. IF you don't know where the hatchs are you can find guides on line where they normally spawn, look for the most recent guides. Otherwise they are pretty easy to remember after playing the game a while.
- Then when you find the hatch, leave.
Easy.
The reason why I picked steve is because in the lobby all of his cosmetics block the key. It clips into his pants in the lobby so the killer doesn't even know it's there. There also is no indication he is holding an item, unless the killer has like eagle eyes (which they don't they are distance from the campfire), but really you can do this with any Killer - they most likely won't find you anways.

I've seen this complaint super frequently. Killers find games way too stressful, and Survivors find it way too easy. But what more specifically? Like... Gen speed, sure, but with the toolbox changes I feel like that's closer to being solved. Closer.
What else needs nerfed?
Toolboxes. The update isn't a nerf, it's a buff. Me and my friends tested it. In the time it took Clown to walk arcross Thompson House - to even find survivors. 3 Gen's were done, and the 4th was halfway done when they all took yellow toolboxes with socket swivel and wire spool. They never needed increase speed in the first place. Going "We're going to lower how much you can use it, but increase the amount of progression you get with it" isn't a "nerf" that's doing absoultely nothing to it, however what they did was lower how much you can use it, and incrased the amount of progression you get with toolboxes - by a lot.
Don't even get me started on the sabotage changes. I literally control the entire trial with an alex's toolbox alone. I turn the entire game into making it impossible for the killer to even get 1 hook - unless they eliminate me first. Me who is reasonably good at looping. So far in the PTB I've mad killer's rage, dc, afk, tunnel, and camp as a result of the toolbox changes - in the ptb of all places.
OoO hasn't even been given slight changes, and it's been talked about for MONTHS, but BHVR keeps putting it off. That's probably the biggest contender.
-
Survivors. Literally nothing else. Everything else needs a buff, but many - MANY aspects to survivors need to be nerfed. Nerfed into the ground. Nerfed to the point where I actually feel some semblance of reward for escaping. Nerfed to the point where I actually see the killer as a threat.
-
... This is literally the easiest challenge in the tome... It should just say "Abuse Free Win Mechanic Twice"... I got it done in 2 games. Do you really not know where the hatch spawns on most maps?
-
Object of Obsession
Honestly there is nothing in this game that doesn't immediatly just make my mood drop faster than seeing 1 or 2 survivors in a single match running OoO. The moment it even exists in the match my hopes sink into the pit of my stomach, and then I just play like a bot until the gate's are powered because I already feel like i'm not going to have any power that match. Last time I ran into this disgusting perk was when I played trapper, and if I chased the obsession they simply safe looped for 2 gens, when I tried to ignore them, they followed me around the map disarming all the trap I tried to put down. I don't normally run add-ons on killers, but damn it would of been good to have that add-on that injured survivors for touching your traps. It's the most broken perk in the entire game, and i'm surprised it still hasn't been touched by the devs.
Rancor
It's a really bad perk! Not like bad for the survivor, but bad for the Killer! It does what? Get you one killer, but you play the match with effectively 3 perks? The part I don't like is that when I see it while playing survivor - I know that I'm going to be the only kill this Killer gets. I don't expect it to be nerfed or anything, because it's incredibly weak. It's just annoying to go against.

Calm down, homie. Changes are coming.
That's what I believe up until the recent patch notes, but instead of nerfing survivors they buffed toolboxes, made keeping items easier, and then buffed sabotaging. Now Gen's are done even faster - tested with my friends. In the time it took for Clown to walk across the map - not 2 gen's were done, but 3 were done and the 4th was half done - all because they each went to a different gen with a yellow toolbox Socket Swivel, and Wire Spool. This was on Thompson House. Then i've been testing the new sabotaging update, and I NEVER had this much power as a survivor in matches. I am not kidding. In the PTB of all things, I am forcing Killer's to dc, afk, camp, tunnel, slug, and flame in end game chat just because THEY CAN'T HOOK ANYONE until they eliminate me from the game.

I like scary stuff as much as the next guy, but just adding blood and gore isn't going to make it scary again. At some point, you just get hardened to the horror aspect of the game.
Exactly! Make it harder and more stressful to play survivor, and nerf the tools that directly ignore the horror aspects to the game. Then the game will be fun again when you think you're safe, and then ... BAM! Myers bursts through the wall next to you.
