  • Because people would rather win's handed to them when selecting a role at title screen instead of getting better at the game. It's easy to counter, doesn't really give the killer much. Even if you do run into NOED you just have to escape instead of deciding to remain in the match for selfish reasons.

  • @ALostPuppy said:

It's honestly not a difficult challenge at all. Just run resilience with a commodious toolbox and sit on gens avoiding the killer. The game goes by in 5 minutes and it's an ez escape.

Just don't take object of obsession. Take Iron Will (THIS ONE IS REALLY HELPFUL), Quick & Quiet, Sole Survivor, Dance With Me, Sprint Burst, Tenacity, Head On, Flip-Flop, Better Together, and/or Kindred. (List of optional non-meta perks, that synergize well with each other or with no mither - taking the meta perks is just as well).

If you are really ballsy I did it with Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Spine Chilld, and Resilience.

  • Here is what you do-

Wraith w/ any add on's you want - idk what add ons he has.

    NOED, Bloodwarden, Deerstalker, Infectious Fright

While invisible walk around the map until you trap a survivor into a corner while invisible. If they are injured - even better (because if the survivors are good you won't get NOED anyways).

Then when the last gen is done, uncloak, and smack him. Hook him. Then camp him. Then proxy camp the survivor and try to slug everyone else. When everyone is slugged. Hook them all.

That's how you play wraith. gg ez

  • It's all true. The whole hatch mechanic is a mechanic that rewards survivors for doing nothing but being the last one in a match. With a key you are rewarded for absoultly nothing but finding the free win mechanic.

Nearly every community is toxic, I don't think you can find any multiplayer game community that isn't toxic. Sure dbd is near the top with it's toxicity but that's due to the killer/survivor divide.

It's a shame but it's not surprising sadly. Best thing to do is to kill them with kindness, you'd be surprised how often people change their tune.

Final Fantasy XIV - it does have some bm, but the kind, helpful people greatly out-weighs the toxic ones. I really can't wait for April when I go back to it, I really miss having a game where it's about having fun and being friendly.

I've been watching this game since Nightmare on Elm Street, and I have to say the community has deffiently fallen from where it has been. Before everyone was just having fun, but now it's become very competitive, very one sided, and everyone seems to be out for blood. Then all blame it on the singled out person - the Killer. It's a bully simulator, that's all it's become now.

If NOED didnt exist, then there would be no need to cleanse dull totems...

Then gen speed would be even more a problem, see my point yet? Nothing needs to happen with NOED. That's the same purpose of DS.

  • Listen if you're scared the killer is going to see your Key, play Steve with the Scoops ahoy outfit. His hand clips into his skirt/scoop, and hides the key so the Killer can't see it.

  • I like the way you think. Myself just kill them and then farm the rest of the survivors for the points I need, because it's 3v1 at that point - so the other survivors no longer have any chance of winning.

  • It's in the plans for the future, yes.

  • If you are dcing from games because you're not having fun - so much to the point that you are getting 20 minute or more bans. Then i'm sorry to say, but check your addiction and move onto another game. That's a suggestion in regards to your own health.

Like I don't get why these people are even still playing if they hate the game THAT much.

I just said that the slowdown caused by surviviors having to cleanse all dull totems is enough for NOED to be considered as a 4th perk. And thats before it even activates.

    You're not cleansing totems anyways?

See this is my point lul

  • @Archimedes5000 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1095814#Comment_1095814

Its not 3 perks. Its 3 perks and a 4th perk that forces surviviors ro get of gens and look for totems. So its basically on a Ruin level. Dont talk as if NOED does nothing. It does its work even if its not in the game, just like DS.

Lol get good. NOED is never an issue for me as survivor, but that's probably because I have an average ability of skill to cleanse totems. It's not rare that the 5 totems (yeah there is only 5) are all gone in the first 2 minutes of a trial.

NOED, and every Hex perk are the weakest perks in the game in my opinion. I don't even use them on my killers they are so useless and pointless.

The requirement is playing the whole trial with 3 perks, and then in most cases not even getting to use your 4th. Unless the survivors are "potatos" and don't know to cleanse totems - then and only then do you get to use NOED. Which then is simply countered by cleansing the Totem or escaping. It's a punishment perk, it's not a reward, it's not a base perk. It's a punishment perk, and it's built to punish survivors for playing poorly.

So if your issue is NOED then get good, and stop complaining. Everyone here with even a merit of skill is laughing at the people complaining about NOED.

  • I'm really getting tired of these boring threads of people upset they have a harder time ruining games, and abusing DC tech.

It's not coming back, they are not going to make it any easier for you. Stop dcing from games just because things slightly went the wrong way for you. If you can't handle the fact that your actions impact 4 other people then stop playing multiplayer games.

  • Imo Borrowed Time should be based off distance of the killer not within the killer terror radius. Much like Perks like Make Your Choice.

  • There is counterplay to DS, but the counterplay is making the game more boring for everyone, and now that DC is penalized. You slug a person for DS just for them to go afk. Good for the killer - bad for the other survivors.

DS needs a nerf to make the game fun for both sides.

    Doubt it.

Also have fun finding them all on Lery's/Hawkins without a Map, Small Game or Detective's Hunch to prevent NOED while someone is getting camped.

People don't mind the exposed part of the perk. What people want is a requirement from the Killer to activate it. Could be anything, really. I just hate how this perk rewards those that chase/tunnel one survivor the whole game.

God forbid you learn new maps.

The requirement is that you play through the whole game with only 3 perks. If you are having issues with Killers that are only using 3 perks, start looking at your own skill before trying to decide if something is balanced or not.

First of all killing your self on hook is penatly already. Second you mentioned hatch-tech that is only in case surv dc in order for other surv to insta jump into hatch.

if you hooked third surv on hook and he/she waits for other to find a hatch that is your mistake. You can slug third till you find fourth. The moment you hook thrid you agreed into hatch chase. So your argument is invalid.

Right, because slugging isn't considered toxic already? I'm starting to feel like all Killer should be doing is standing in a corner staring at the wall, would that be more fun for you?

At least with my idea the game remains fun, without having to use boring tactics just to avoid survivors performing bad gameplay.

  • Clown: Because I always liked horror clowns, and this is the best I got in this game.

    Legion: Speedy stabby teens

Ghostface: Grew up loving the Scream series

Freddy: My all time favorite slasher movie, and best concept. (except for the 2010 version, that this DLC is based off of unfortunately, but I make do with what I got)

  • Freddy is also immortal and inhuman, that isn't even a good argument. You should at least know about the different slashers and their weaknesses before joining a discussion on who will win.

To be fair, it is one of his strongest Add Ons, if not the strongest. Which does not speak for his Add Ons.

    @Topic:

Yep, they should be removed. They are outdated and were not changed, it does not matter if that Huntress has Berus Toxin or the Green Add On, both are the same, I will not stop running in a chase so I will never get back my Exhaustion. And 3k BP and often in Bloodwebs to counter strong Perks? Nah.

I really hope they will be changed/removed, eventually.

Is it? I alway's run Cheap Gin Bottle, and Cigar Box. Alway's grabbing those two from bloodweb's when they appear, and if I don't have those then I'm running; Sticky Soda Bottle, Garish Make-up Kit, Bottle Of Chloroform, or VHS Porn. Anything else just picks up dust in my inventory. Then again I alway's bait exhaustion perks first anyway's, so I don't need the add-on's for them.

Like I would say get rid of them because they are useless, and then it's just one less thing spawning my bloodweb when I want something good.

  • I don't know why people are complaining about crashing? I have yet to see this big issue, and when the game does crash it's never resulted in me getting anything more than a 5 minute penalty.

So if you are trying to run this very intense game on a bad system - then I have no remorse for you. Since you probably are also apart of the small group of players that are lagging, and making the game worse for the rest of us anyways.

As far as toxicity goes. Wow. The other side is against you, how much respect do you expect? Close the chat if you're that enabled.

  • Because it doesn't need them. Also makes no sense to have them. Too many variables that you can't just make a bot to mirror.

  • Lol I find it funny you say "gen rushing wasn't a thing", but the actual problem lies from the bug that forced a lot of high ranking players de-rank to extremely low levels. The high ranking players do things like Gen Rush. At the same time on the Killer side they know when to Tunnel, and Camp so it's most effective. You're dealing with the masses of people that have already played a while, got all the perks, and whose matches are literally placed down to a coin flip.

Give it a couple to a few weeks, and they will be gone again.

  • ... I'm probably going to be reported for this, but this is the stupidest thing I ever read. You already did the wrong on dcing in matches in the first place to accumulate a ridiculous sentencing, and you think just because you can "play a few matches" you get off scott free? That's dumb, because people will manipulate that so that the dc penalty doesn't affect them.

Here's a better idea. Stop dcing from matches - if you hate the game that much you just que a game you're going to dc from. Then go play a different game.

  • @willoftheboss said:

love how video games are a job now

  • Oh would you look at that - a title lacking context, used as clickbait to attract people to participate in a discussion. Unlike you I have some experience in forums, and you learn how to attract the masses. It's not my fault people didn't read the description and immediatly jumped to getting upset in the comments.

  • That one Statue and tree on the new sanctum map where Survivors can go between them, but Killers can't. Lol I guess every millimeter matters.

But no - seriously - one thing i've noticed as I got better with Killer. When I first started I would take wider births around turn's because my big brain muscle reflexed assuming I was bigger than survivors. Though now that i've improved and been applying my formula one skills with survivor into playing Killer, nothing can jump that window in the safehouse anymore. Also a big thing to notice is that when you stay the nearest into a object next to you to get the closest to the center of the turn your characters arm does clip into the object, because all Killer models are bigger than their actual collision pill.

  • Clown, Ghostface, Legion, Freddy.

  • Not gonna lie. The amount of responses i'm seeing of people just going "I shouldn't be forced to play in a match i'm not enjoying" is surprising. Have any of you played online multiplayer games before? Is this your first time? Stop being selfish, and roll with the punches as much as the other matches - it's not all about you, or just your fun.

There are too many variables to punish suiciding on the hook.

What if the player is new and genuinely doesn’t know. They see “attempt escape” and they try to pull themselves off the hook because they don’t know they only have a 4% chance of doing so.

Real life situations happens and people have to go.

The server lags and you die because of lag.

The last person is hatch camping and not coming for the save.

Your finger slips while mashing spacebar.

Sometimes the teams are ONLY doing gens and nobody is going for the save or it is a team of bush hiding Blendettes who crouch with the killer nowhere in sight.

And maybe somebody just has had too many Doctor games and they’re bored as hell and wanna move onto the next match.

The game can’t distinguish these differences. There is way too many variables.

    They’ll probably de-pip anyways.

You started this off strong, then lost me. If a real life issue is your concern, take the DC - a 5 minute penalty is nothing when you're gone to an emergency.

    Server is an issue.

That's still not a reason you should suicide. Hatch Camping is frowned upon by the majority of the community that plays solo, and a legitimate strategy apparently.

Yes it would be very difficult to balance between when you actually do fail to escape, or struggle on hook and when you're actually just suiciding on hook.

Then it's even more important for you to remain on hook. If the survivors are only doing gens unabatted, then that usually means the Killer is camping and the best move against camping is rushing gens and collecting all other points, then attemping saves before you leave (Depending on the circumstances).

Not wanting to play against the Killer, Map, or simply because the game didn't favor you in the beggining is not a legitimate reason to leave any online multiplayer game where a team depends on you.

  • The idea that this dude used Clown as an example for something strong - blows my mind lul

Because it's a game. If the survivors or the killers not having fun why would you want to continue. Either it being Survivor Or Killer Toxicity, Bad Lag in the server, Carrying a team, ETC. If someone's not having a enjoyable experince they should have the right to leave. There's hundreds of reasons why someone's gonna be "nah peace out I'll go enjoy life in my next match".

It's a multiplayer game. So no you don't just "have the right to leave" whenever you feel like it. Especially if it effects the other players in the match. That's why games like these have DC penalty's. If you don't like it, then go play a game where leaving doesn't effect other players and doesn't have a DC penalty.

At the same time i'm not saying give a timer for suiciding, it just shouldn't be rewarded. Suicide all you want, but you won't be rewarded for doing so. Suicide to give someone hatch, cool - you just won't be rewarded for doing so. Saving someone else is your reward in that instance.

  • I don't get it. The majority of points you get as survivor is from doing team based actions. This is far from a "solo" game, and on top of that the Dev's refuse to balance around playing with friends - so it's extremely easy for Survivors to play already.

  • @Liruliniel said:

This honestly made me laugh. How can someone desire a 4k so much that they actually need to complain and be this petty. Most matches a survivor never gets hatch anyways.

Most people have reasons to suicide on hook taking that away

Then I better not have to mash a button to survive. I normally just screw it part way through in second stage.

This hoenstly made me laugh. Could you imagine someone playing a game they are just going to suicide in anyways? Why bother in the first place?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/664/ZEG9544T9OZA.jpg

    This 100x this. Which is something they can't control very well. The most they can do is remove/change aspects from the game that encourage entitlement. Like;

    • Immunity Perks
    • Free Win Mechanic's
    • Too much information that makes the player feel safe and stress free
    • Safe maneuver's that are easy to perform

They made the game too survivor friendly that the Survivors feel like the power role, and that drives them to treat the singled out weaker role with contempt and disrespect.

  • What a quality stream, not only did my question get answered, but I got to see daddy Peanit's irl - HOT DAMN~ 🔥

I tried going back to killer, after a bunch of 4k's the game decided it needed to match me at ranks sometimes 5+ levels higher than my own.

I had some fun then, but then started thinking if my games were that easy previously, that they needed to do that to balance the game for me, they can give me something more than just #reasons or just you know, make killer harder.

I switch between them, so I see the issues on both sides - and on both sides it can suck when someone suicides on hook. If you are playing Killer and a SWF or Solo (which I included in the original post) suicides on hook to give hatch mechancic. Then they simply can't rank up because of it. A fair trade.

If you are survivor and people are just suiciding on hook left and right forcing you to have bad games like as if they dc'd. It's no better than if they dc'd for the survivor side. Killer get's their points from a dc now, but survivors still have to deal with the 3 man - which was the most important reason for the dc penalty in the first place.

  • I like how people come in here thinking I am saying that I want to put a timer penalty on suciding on hook

    I NEVER SAID THAT

Not to mention it's stupid of you all to assume that - who in their right mind would do that. I just don't believe it should be a play that is rewarded, because it ruins the games for others, or is a frowned upon strat for hatch mechanic which is already broken to begin with.

  • @Mushwin said:

No.Sometimes you have to suicide on the hook, like if teammates are just not doing anything to help you, if you are just getting camped and no one can save you or you just know the game isn't going well and you just wish to move on to the next match.

No they don't have to. If you don't like the game. There are others. I hear the director enjoyed CIV 4 when he took a break, maybe try it. Otherwise stop finding ways to force survivors into going through a 3 man and actually enjoy the game.

    @Kalec84 said:

Suicide hooks are fine, they are also in line with the "lore"

Survivor loses hope and kill himself, perfectly fine.

it also give more precious seconds to the other survivors, by the time the killer down them and take them to the hook.

and if they coby and let the killer hook them again, fine, more time. No one is saying you should be forced to play a match you dont like, just leave the way you should, hanginng from a damn hook!

    100 times better than DC.

    good job BHVR u_u

And if you are a killer.... just pressure the gens! u_u

What doesn't slund within the lore. Commiting suicide to give the last survivor hatch. If you don't lime the game - read above.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1092352#Comment_1092352

So Chess masters who resign from games they know they've lost at should just fine a different game, too, eh?

There's nothing wrong with resigning from a game when you know you've lost, just like there's nothing wrong with disconnecting, so long as you're doing it because you need to -- not because you want to.

I see some of the devs themselves suiciding on hook when they play on Twitch. So if they don't want people doing it, they should probably stop doing it themselves if they criticize other people doing it like you say they are doing.

I already told you why I will suicide on hook:

    1. When the game is over
    2. When it becomes the most realistic chance for the last survivor to get out.

If me doing that somehow "ruins the fun" for you to the point that you need to tell me go to and play a different game, then maybe the problem isn't with the game, but you for getting your panties in a bunch because someone didn't sit there, not playing the game for up to two minutes for no reason other to satisfy your ego.

Maybe you should take your own advice. If you don't like certain aspects of the game - don't play it.

I don't like it when survivors off themselves within the first minute of the match either because they got caught first or whatever excuse they come up with when they do it. However, that's a completely different situation than blanket punishing any and all survivors who decide to resign from a match regardless of the circumstances, especially when there's literally no point in staying in a match in some situations.

You never answered my original question by the way: If resigning as a survivor is supposed to be punishable, does that mean we should now punish killers who resign by intentionally opening the exit gates even though again, that is an intended mechanic and explicitly why the mechanic was added?

When a chess player forfeits they lose the match. You can suicide on hook and still pip. You can suicide on hook to give another survivor hatch and ensure 2 pips. You can suicide on hook and ruin the game for 1-3 other people.

I never said give a timeout penalty for people that sui. I said ensure they are not rewarded for doing so.

Opening the exit gate is alot different than purposly killing yourself (when your goal is to survive). It works with perks, as well as creates a new enviroment to play in. Like today. I killed one survivor after the last gen went, slugged another, openened the gate so they had less time to save, then hooked the slug survivor. As I kept pushing the other two out the door they had no choice but to leave the last survivor behind. Hatch tech isn't that and is frowned upon by the devs. The hatches purpose was to stop survivors from taking the game hostage, not be abused for free wins.

    @oxygen said:

I don't think that will ever be punished. Disconnects open the hatch instantly and screw the killer out of points, as well as screwing survivors by occupying the killer for less time and not taking a hook with them when they die. Dying on hook is within the game's mechanics. Survivors are free to decide if they want to be altruistic or not, so someone on the hook should be free to decide if they want to struggle or not.

I also dislike the idea of a guaranteed depip no matter what happened earlier in the match. Assuming matchmaking works as intended someone that by all means should be a rank 1 survivor could play normally or even try to troll the killer no matter their rank, and then get themselves in a situation to derank further no matter how much emblem score they gained in the match.

Then again I view what you call hatch tech as little more than an act of altruism. Sacrificing themselves to give someone else a potentially better chance of escaping. With DC penalties a killer can slug to prevent it from happening for a while and the survivor can't DC to circumvent it without penalty. Even if the devs disapprove of it, unless they punish people for doing it you can't expect people to stop. And I highly doubt they'll punish it beyond extreme cases like someone that clearly get put on a hook and suicides there in the first minute of the match on a regular basis.

Thats my point. The devs do disaprove of it. The hatch mechanic is not meant to give free wins. Which is why I wasn't scared to make this thread and have such a strong stance. Suiciding on hook you can do but you are penalize via rank as a result. If you don't care about rank - great! You remain inlw ranks where it doesn't matter. You do, then you don't suicide - ruining games or abusing free win mechanics.

That just sounds like if you don't like the game then you should go play a different game.

Even the dev's spoke against suiciding on hook to give hatch, and obviously no one likes a person who suicides quickly in a game just because they don't like the map, killer, or the game simply isn't going well for them.

So as far as I see it, if you don't like the aspects of the game - don't play it, and stop ruining the fun for everyone else.

I know it won't do anything to me. I would have been banned long ago if it did, lol.

There is a need: Not wasting the player's time who is on the hook. There's no need to stay in a match that you know you're going to die in. Sorry -- but I value the 2 minutes of my life more than the 750ish blood points that I'd get for struggling. Only way you're making me wait that long to get my struggle points is if there's 5 bloody party streamers in a double BP event and I've gotten 4 stacks of WGLF.

What if all of the remaining survivors in the match are on the hook? Does everyone including the killer just get to chill out for up to an entire whopping 2+ minutes waiting for everyone to die?

Why should I be stuck waiting for an entire 2 minutes knowing I'm not going to be saved while my last teammate is hiding in a locker -- possibly not even to be a selfish ass, but because the killer is either near them, or because the killer is camping me, hatch hasn't spawned, and there's literally nothing they can do? I am just waiting for my death at that point.

Saying there's no reason ever to suicide on hook is like saying that the ability to "resign" in any game ever, whether it be DBD or even Chess, is pointless. It's not.
