  • Devs: We won't balance around SWF because the game is played mostly by Solo's (SWF's on their spare time). We won't balacne around SWF because it's not intended as a "Team game" it's intended as a survival game.

Also Devs: Everything that matters into you gettting points for ranking, and bloodpoints depends on you playing as a strong member of TEAM SURVIVOR! If you don't play for TEAM SURVIVOR! Then you are penalized points in the ranking system.

  • @Peanits This is some good feedback

I got reported for "holding the game hostage" because I left a survivor slugged because there was no nearby hooks, they knew this, and crawled into the corner anyways. shrug

    Entitled people gonna remain entitled.

That report isn't going to do anything to you. There is nothing wrong with doing that when it's needed. There is no need - at all - for suiciding on hook.

How do you know they're not trying to kobe cause no one is gonna save? In second stage, how do you know they didn't lag?

If they were lagging then they shouldn't play this game anyways. Dev's said today anyone with more than 150 MS isn't going to have a good time at the game (and they arn't allowed to say that player should stop playing live - but i'm sure we both understand where we are getting at). DBD is a technically intense game right down to the need of a good connection.

DCing would cause the hatch to INSTANTly open. Suiciding on hook forces a very long animation to play, giving the killer time to find the hatch.

Also i just think the hatch mechanic should just be replaced with something else, so that this isnt a problem anymore.

Finally a response I agree with

Uh, my comment still stands. How will you differentiate all those from intentional hook death? You have to differentiate to be able to punish accordingly

You're telling me that purposly attempting to get off hook 3 times quickly, and then not even attempting to struggle isn't obvious?

  • @Auron471 said:

punish killers for facecamping then lmao. i dont think this is a good idea.

Suiciding on hook is a legit strat. change my mind lmao.

The developers have already mentioned that they don't approve of this play. Heck it was dcing to give hatch mechanic was apart of the reason we have DC penalty's now.

    Ban everyone that gets hooked

I never said to put a ban on people who suicide - that's dumb. Just don't allow them to rank up, or force them to depip if they are doing intentionally as a group. Sounds like a good trade off to me. However in way should you be rewarded for suiciding on hook intentionally during a match where you have 3 or less survivors depending on you.

Please actually read the post next time.

  • @AkiTheKitten said:

How do you plan on implementing this? Will you ban everyone who dies on first-hook, ignoring those solo players who weren't saved? Will you punish those who try to kobe cause they aren't going to be saved? Will you punish those who reach stage 2 and lag slightly, causing their death? Too many factors to justify it

If someone wants to suicide to give someone hatch, that's fine. It was DCing to immediately open the hatch that was BS.

Plus, if I have potatoes crouching behind a wall watching me on the hook like their favorite TV show, I'm 100% suiciding.

The developers have already mentioned that they don't approve of this play. Heck it was dcing to give hatch mechanic was apart of the reason we have DC penalty's now.

You can't stop people from wanting to leave a match.

If you penalize people for DCing, they will suicide on hook.

If you penalize people for suiciding on hook, they will just AFK instead.

Well if they AFK then they de-pip anyways, so I don't mind. This solution still allows them to suicide on hook if they desperatly want to, and still get into another match - however doing so you give up your pip, or double pip you may have gotten. If you are in a SWF then you lose a pip - as it was most likely for hatch tech, and if it wasn't for hatch tech, then the other members of the SWF would most likely follow to get into the next match faster.

It's reasonable, though imo I think it should just drop you a match timer as well, but that may be too mean.

  • Because it abuses Hatch Tech, or makes the game unfun for other survivors. Since we have the DC penalty for (which btw thank you so much, this was well needed). Toxic Survivors have started to just abuse suicidiing on hook. In response dev's should just add a lesser penalty for doing so - and make the game more fun for the more positive players that play this game to have fun and not cause trouble.

20 minutes, are you mad? The first 3 are short to give space for the frequent crashes and bugs. The game would die if you got a 20 minute ban every time DBD messed up. (I like the game, but it needs alot of work :/)

Guess i'm still recovering from all the matche's survivors left just to ensure I black pip'd or de-pip'd. I have 0 remorse for the people complaining about there being a DC penalty. It was greatly needed.

  • The option to be able to come back, could be looked at. Myself thinks that will only encourage bad gameplay. Imagine a person who is toxic enough to dc in the first place, knowing they can't get into a match until the match they dc from finishes. Well the easiest solution is to go back into that game and sabotage right? Especially if they don't get any kind of reward. Seems like a bad idea overall.

At least the remaining 3 have a slight chance to win, even though of how awful that chance is. The person who DC's should only receive punishment at that point imo. Maybe they should make the first DC 20 minutes instead of 5. 5 minutes seems just to giving to me.

  • Your suggestion is to make 3 survivors continue to have a terrible match, to give the one who disconnected to come back and be toxic, or come back and make no change to the game because 3 survivor just had to go through a match with only 3 survivors. Then the disconnect has the oppurtunity to make bloodpoints back, and survive. While all at the same time you punish the killer a whole sacrifice - when they are not even on the same side as survivors?

    No.

  • @dbizzle said:

DCs are a part of any online game . we havent had them since 2016 we dont need them now. its just silly. if you want to DC you paid for the game do what you like. if you want out of that match and want to go to a new one that is your right. you should not be penalized.

League of Legends, Overwatch, DOTA2, Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, Smite, DC Universe, etc, etc, etc.

Do I need to go on with how many big and top online multiplayer games have DC penalty's, because disconnecting not only makes the game worse for players on your side, but the opponents as well?

Yeah, no. Not gonna waste my time. The DC penalty stays, and your point is false.

Watch the stream. not auto aim.

Watch the stream. It's "aim assist".

Something people need to understand about this topic is there are two things in video games that are common to "help people" or act as handicap's. Auto-Aim, and Aim Assist.

Auto-Aim: Is the game automatically aim's at a target within your view, for example Borderlands when you start scope you immediatly target a subject infront of your character.

Aim-Assist: Is the game will automatically move your camera or model so your attack that would have hit, or nearly hit - to hit.

It's aim assist. They want us to call it "Animation Enhancement" - mentioned by Peanits in a Dev comment, or "aim dressing" as mentioned in the Livestream. Then they went on to only talk about how it's to make a hit that would have hit - hit, but intentionally to avoid the real reason everyone is complaining about it - which it's forcing Killer's to not hit, or hit objects near the survivor.

Not because of latency, but because the "Aim Dressing" applies before the actual hit, so in the half a second (or less) time it's forcing your camera and model to colide the attack, a survivor can move 1 tick around an object - which puts the object between the killer and survivor, forcing the Killer's attack to go through on the object instead.

I really hope I explained that well enough.

  • I went from Rank 4 Killer and Survivor to Rank 11 Killer and Survivor... It won't take me long to get back, but boy do I feel bad for these baby's i've been facing since the rank reset. They don't even have all tier 3 meta perks yet.

Mocking Spongebob as next Killer confirmed

    image.png

  • That you get when they suicide. You get points for second hook, and sacrifice when they sui on hook. All other points are obtainable via the other 1-3 survivors. So even if all 4 suicide on hook, you should always at least black pip unless you were camping, dropping survivors, repeatedly getting stunned, forcing them to die while in dying state, or Mori's (so things that just show you are bad at the killer role in general). Sorry, but not sorry. A survivor suiciding is only a win for Killer.

  • Why is anyone (other than survivors) complaining about Hook suicides? You gotta be one stupid Killer if you think a hook suicide isn't in your favor.

  • image.png

We can see here why when you swing at a survivor, the "Aim Dressing" forces our camera to move towards the survivor and smacking that corner of a Tree, Wall, or Object the survivor just used his half a second to put there. You can also tell by this photo alone, why 360 confuses the coding into losing your hit.

It's a really bad system, remove it.

  • Try slugging them all, and taking anyone close enough to the basement.

  • It's stupid to respond to an issue that Survivors are providing by giving them a free win mechanic. It should just start EGC instead - and still require the last survivor to finish Generators.

It makes 0 sense that a Killer who killed 3 survivors with 4 Generators left doesn't get their 4k because of a free win mechanic. The survivors should have done better at their own objective.

  • @fleshbox said:

If that is not a bug and now intended behavior then i a defo gone for good. I hate last second switchers.

This is how you deal with people who attempt to do the last second flashlight attempt. But denying them the chance to do it in the first place.

That sounds dumb lol - could you imagine being scared of a Flashlight?

What does SWF have to do with it? I can flashlight save in solo queue too...

SWF or Solo, they push for survivors to work together for points, but when speaking to the community they won't balance the game around the survivors working together. It's just easier to say SWF than "survivors working together". It's poor game development. Many enjoy calling them out on it.

So is there a particular reason that I shouldn't try to survive AND save my teammate?

Flashlight saves and pallet saves exist in the game for a reason.

I don't know man. I know there are many things that earn you points for playing as a team. Which is odd, but i'm sure you keep up to date with what dev's say on the forums and in Q&A's. Doesn't make sense to me either.

I could also be waiting for a dev to come in here and confirm you should help other survivors so I can hit them with a "So you will start to look at balancing SWF then, or did you lie to us?"

  • @AsePlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1088447#Comment_1088447

Killers are capable of camping and ensuring SOMEONE dies unless they misplay. I'm not going to just let me teammate die if I can attempt to save them with my flashlight.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1088453#Comment_1088453

I'm sorry the 4 people who have to work together to complete an objective want to use some teamwork?

It's not a team game. The dev's said so themself. I'm just preaching what they've said. That's why they won't balance the game around SWF, because it's not meant to be teams. It's do anything in your power so you survive. That's your objective, for you to survive.

  • ... Someone wanna tell this guy when sabotaging was introduced to the game.

... Also how horrifying it was before they nerfed it.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

?? Did I miss something? All you gotta do for NOED is wait for gens to be done. No skill required. What are you talking about?

As for DS, you have to be hooked once before you can use it. Already has a pre-req.

As for BT, you have to be in the killer's TR. Already has a pre-req.

As for DH, you have to be injured for it to work, and cannot be exhausted already. Already has a pre-req.

There is not a single perk in this game that requires a "skillful" play. Please explain.

Please tell me how playing an entire match with only 3 perks, when most Killers require 4 just to balance the game is not "skillful play". Or how that isn't a pretty big pre-req. Go on - i'm waiting.

In additon to understand that NOED is a punishment perk - not a reward perk. So it's punishment for Survivors ignoring the other objective, which is to cleanse all 5 totems.

In a game with good survivors all the totems are gone 2 minutes into the game.

Did I mention that Hex Perks are literally the worst perks for Killers to take in the game? Especially now that Hex: Ruin is gone. Literally, they are all weak, and useless. I never see NOED in my games, and the ones I do. I just go to where I know the totem spawns are (because I know where they are), cleanse that #########, save who I have to, and escape. If i'm solo. I just ######### escape.

But please cry more, because you can't get good at the game - I hear if you cry enough the Dev's will nerf something for you.

  • I don't want to hate on the artists either, but it seems like with every release of cosmetics for Steven and Nancy. Steve get's to be awesome, and then Nancy get's the stick. Like I even find her model completely disproportionate. Does she even have a belly button? She's pulling a big Steve Urkle and just straight up doesn't have a mid section.

Except the Leather Jacket cosmetics, those look great.

  • They need to fix Map Layouts, Map Sizes, Matchmaking, Ranking, SWF, and Killer Strengths before they can look at the Perks. The perks for too long have been band-aid remedies for bigger problems, and now they are only adding to the problems - changing them now will only skew statistics further than what the perks are already doing. That's what we seen with Ruin.

The moment they changed Ruin there was a big fallback, but then suddenly many people realized we never needed it at all. That's the same with the "crutch" perks Survivors use, but removing/changing them will be even more threatening.

This is why the Dev's have even already told the community they are focusing on Matchmaking, and Ranking right now, then Maps over time.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1088629#Comment_1088629

There are a LOT of slows that have got to go. I'm no balance expert, but there are so many minor changes that could be done, but I don't think that he'll move out of the lower tiers, though.

To be fair when I started playing. I made it to red rank first with just Clown and Legion (really wanted that Pop Goes The Weasel). I got over 1000 hours in this game since Novemeber, following it since 2017. All I ever wanted to see is Clown balanced, and I wouldn't like him at the level of Freddy or Doctor (though really that should be the objective of all Killers). If he becomes just as good as huntress, then i'm happy. All I can see - even playing him today where I got one match with 2 kills, and another match where all 4 escaped becaues of DS and bodyblocking. The only thing holding him back is the 5 seconds it takes him to reload his 4 bottles. While Huntress gets 5 hatchets (one more than clown), and reloads in 4 seconds (faster with Iron Maiden - which most Huntresses take for that reason).

You make that the same as Huntress, and you will suddenly have a just as strong Killer. Even change his redheads finger to be an instant down instead of just exposed. Then he has an iri equivelent. It'll be great!

Edit: Quite literally it looks like they took the huntress, copied it to clown, and made it weaker.

  • Ew you just told everyone how to counter me. You're absolutlely right though. Clowns main weakness is he has nothing above his toxins, compared to the likes of Doctor and Freddy.

However he does have one thing, a throwable power like Huntress. Which is the Killer I actually compare Clown most to.

Huntress has the ability to throw hatchets, and if they connect with the survivor it deals damage, unlike Clown where if his toxin connects with anything - it causes an area of effect that makes it difficult to see, or move in. Both Unique in their own way, and makes them good at one thing in their own way - creating a unique mind game at loops. With the huntress you have to force obsticles between yourself and her ability to throw hatchets. Clown you have to try and predict his movements with impared vision and mobility. To me these pretty much makes the killers balanced to one another.

    Now why is it that Huntress is a higher tier killer used by many top red rank players as a main? Well two reasons;

    1. Huntress has no limitation on the range of her hatchet. She can fire a hatchet across the entire trial if she wanted so long as there wasn't an obsticle in the way or the ceiling (thanks Red Forest)
    2. She is faster at reloading her throwable power.

I don't care about the distance I can throw bottles - though it would be awesome if I could aim high and hit that generator across the map and get a scare out of the survivors trying to finish it - like the Huntress can.

What I care about is the fact that I can't reload my bottles in time for chases, I can't reload my bottles in time to reach generators, and I can't reload my bottles in time to have enough for long chases.

That is where - in my opinion - what is stopping Clown from being a strong Killer.

    How do you remedy this?

Just remove the damn slow to his movement when he replenish's his toxin. Like god damn, why is that even a thing? What a stupid idea. "Oh here is an intimidating clown, oh so scary - MOVING SLOWER THAN A ######### SNAIL WHILE HE TRIES TO RESTORE 4 ######### BOTTLES"

Anyways. Yeah remove the slow, and Clown is balanced. There you go.

  • They should just remove hatch, or at least remove the ability to find keys in chests.

  • At this point I think there should be a penalty for repeatedly asking for the same thing that the dev's already mentioned against - on the forums.

The dev's already said camping is a legit strategy, and there is already a penalty for camping in the Chaser emblem.

So we should just let one of our teammates die now just so the killer doesn't feel bad? I thought our objective was to survive or something like that.

It's not a team game. The whole idea of survivors going out of their way to save others, and body block to ensure the killer gets absolutly no one blows my mind.

  • Not gonna lie even the swf survivors I faced have gotten better since the DC penalty was implemented - it's like you take their weapon away and suddenly they want to treat people like humans again.
